Kazu Yoshizawa is startled awake from the couch.

Yoshifusa Maeda is furiously scribbling notes on a sheet of paper by the lone desk lamp in his office

Yoshizawa yawns, "What time is it Maeda-san? I needed that sleep after last night's show. How long was I out for? I feel like I slept for six months."

Maeda replies with an incoherent grunt as he barely looks up from his notes. It doesn't look like Maeda has slept at all.

Yoshizawa continues, "Have you been up all night?"

Maeda replies with another grunt. I have to hand it to Yosh, he's been all-in on taking out Modern Japan since the beginning of this thing.

Maeda finally gets out something resembling words, "Well someone has to put these Grand Prix blocks together..."

Yoshizawa, "Yeah, yeah... Alright, I'm up. How can I help?"

Maeda, "Here are the blocks, you know who we want to win this thing. Do your thing and get us there. I need to go put some road work in and clear my head"

Maeda tosses the notes towards Kazu's general direction and heads out the door. Kazu picks the pieces of loose-leaf off the floor and begins to try to interpret the chicken-scratch that is Maeda's handwriting

Yoshizawa says to no one in particular "Well, damn. Time for some coffee I guess."

Maeda pokes his head back in the office after changing into his running gear, "That's right Kazu, it's time to assert ourselves as the dominant promotion in Japan. Did you think the lion was sleeping because he didn't roar?"

Kazu smiles. Here we go again with these lion proverbs...

Kazu's focus goes back to the pages from Maeda.

Wait he wants to do what in this tournament?!?! This old man may have officially lost it now.

On the other hand... it's so crazy it just might work...

OOC: So, it's been a minute since we have visited Black Canvas

To be honest, I burned myself out on TEW between this diary and the real world mod I help Fleisch with. I got a new position at work as well (which I LOVE), but it has definitely ate into my free time over the last 6 months and my desire to write has waned because of it.

For all of you who have read my puro ramblings to this point in the thread, I want to give you a sincere thank you. Whether you followed this from jump or found it late and binge-read it at a later date, we are green lit for another run with the real puro standard-bearer in the CVerse.

This lion (BCG) isn't dead. There's still a great story in here to be told, and I want this lion to roar a bit before the new game drops as BCG has been my favorite promotion since I began in TEW.

So... new year, new start. I always planned to circle back and finish off this BCG run in time for TEW 2020 to be released. I have a bunch of shows written and back-logged to post. I'm not sure how far this lion will run, but for the meantime, we are back on the hunt.

One of the best parts of wrestling is the unexpected return.

Overview:

Zeshin Makioka is a brawler who is best known for his lengthy run with WEXXV. Originally trained by WLW (although he left before officially graduating), when he first started out he was a skinny high flier with a shock of bright yellow hair. It was after he was forced to sit out the latter half of 2010 with an injury that he morphed into his current persona, returning with his hair back to its natural colour, a good 40lbs of bulk added to his frame, and a brawling style that was far more effective than his old 'spot monkey' style. He is now an integral part of WEXXV and probably one of the most improved wrestlers on the roster.

Overview:

Japanese junior heavyweight Tsuneyo Yanagimoto is a talented youngster who has become one of EXODUS 2010's big names. Having learned his craft via the independent scene, May 2010 saw Yanagimoto join the promotion in time for their very first show. A very solid worker with an excellent grasp of psychology, Yanagimoto really broke through when he won - and then retained - the EXODUS Junior Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament title in 2012 and 2013, defeating the legendary junior wrestlers Burning EXILE and Super Joshuya in the respective finals. He is now widely tipped for future stardom, and will likely end up in a much bigger arena than EX2010 can provide.

El Mítico Jr is the grandson of the original character and probably one of the first fourth-generation wrestlers on the planet (his great grandfather wrestled professionally before the formation of OLLIE, and his father wrestled a handful of matches on the independent circuit when he was in his late teens). Although young, he already has solid basic skills due to his amateur background and seems something of a wrestling machine; his stamina levels are freakish and his technical excellence is far in excess of what one normally sees in someone with so little in-ring experience. El Mítico definitely has the feel of a future star about him.

The last of Shimizu's seven match trial series concludes in Osaka! Shimizu has showed well all tour but is yet to notch his first victory. He now faces his toughest test yet in the face of BCG, Funakoshi.

Will Shimizu continue to rise to the occasion or will he melt under the pressure from Lionheart?

These two massive competitors have been at each others throats since the beginning of the year. Yoshifusa Maeda had seen enough of the antics and demanded these two settle it in the ring, with the carrot of a spot in the most prestigous tournament in the company on the line.

Frankie Perez vs. Razan Okamoto

Frankie Perez got off to a slow start in BCG after being hampered by an injury during the Heritage tour in January. However, the well-traveled fighter has shown his top form throughout the BCG World Junior Heavyweight Championship tournament knocking off the likes of Tobei Sugimura, Extraordinario Jr (OLLIE) & Stone Yoshikawa on his way to the finals.

Dawnguard’s chief lieutenant has had no easy road of his own either through the tournament, knocking off Hidekazu, Totoya Munakata & Orange Tsuchie to book his ticket to Osaka.

Things got personal in Nagoya after the two almost came to blows in a post-match staredown.

Does Frankie have enough in the tank after taking serious damage to his legs vs. Stone Yoshikawa? Is Razan looking for some momentum to roll into April and defend his Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix tournament win?

American Demolition have proven every bit the monster gaijin tag team wresting the World Tag Team Championships from Team Taku last month.

Yoshizawa & Miura have proven their mettle after winning a #1 contendership match over Black Iron Corps earlier in the tour.

Will it be American Ambition or Dawnguard who come out on top in the opening salvo of what proves to be many matchups between the two premier factions in BCG?

Iesada came in to honor his friend Masayuki Shiga’s retirement match and teamed with Shiga & Torii to help his friend ride off into the sunset victorious.

The champ, Torii, had other plans.

As Shiga had the match won and his opponent folded up in the corner for the victory, Torii tagged himself into the match to steal The Last Warrior’s spotlight. Iesada took offense and a huge brawl ensued that ended with Iesada standing tall and holding the BCG World Championship over an unconscious Torii. The two tangled in a six-man match at Generations in Nagoya with Iesada ending up on the winning side again.

A post-match altercation saw Torii try to decapitate Iesada with a Spinning Forearm Smash while holding his championship, but Iesada moved and Torii floored BCG founder Yoshifusa Maeda instead!

Will Dawnguard’s rebellious leader continue with his iron-clad grip on the biggest prize in BCG?

Or will the icon Iesada start the dawn of a new age in BCG?
