Funakoshi 10th Anniversary Match: Funakoshi vs. Yoshinaka Taku

Comments: Yoshinaka Taku won the BCG World title in another dynasty, but it's not his time here yet.

Special Tag Team Match: Greg Gauge & Big Bruiser Findlay vs. Tanyu Toshusai & Toshinobu Taku

Comments: What, no nickname for Greg Gauge? Gorgeous Gauge comes to mind...

Special Tag Team Match: Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii & Razan Okamoto) vs. Tsuneyo Yanagimoto & Bulldozer Brandon Smith

Comments: Odd doubles matches here, but maybe Tsuneyo will surprise us all.

BCG Heritage Series Semifinal: Yoshisada Matsuzawa vs. Nobuharu Yokokawa

Comments: I've never been excited by Matsuzawa.

BCG Heritage Series Semifinal: Roku Sotomura vs. Rokuemon Matsushita

Comments: Sotomura to challenge Funakoshi would be a great match. I use it as a stop-gap title defense myself.

<p>Funakoshi 10th Anniversary Match: <strong>Funakoshi</strong> vs. Yoshinaka Taku</p><p>

Comments: I think Taku is going to be given a chance to perform on par with the veteran, but given that its his anniversary show, Funakoshi should come away with the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

Special Tag Team Match: <strong>Greg Gauge & Big Bruiser Findlay</strong> vs. Tanyu Toshusai & Toshinobu Taku</p><p>

Comments: There's a chance that Taku is on decline, and even if he isn't, I got a feeling the move here is to keep building the gaijins up until the title change at Heritage. No doubt Tanyu is going to have a great performance in this one.</p><p> </p><p>

Special Tag Team Match: Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii & Razan Okamoto) vs. <strong>Tsuneyo Yanagimoto & Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong></p><p>

Comments: Another victory to continue building up momentum for the title challengers.</p><p> </p><p>

BCG Heritage Series Semifinal: Yoshisada Matsuzawa vs. <strong>Nobuharu Yokokawa</strong></p><p>

Comments: I like giving it to Yoko here. He's still young enough to get built up in the upper half of the card and have time left over to provide new challenges to the main event scene.</p><p> </p><p>

BCG Heritage Series Semifinal: Roku Sotomura vs. <strong>Rokuemon Matsushita</strong></p><p>

Comments: I'll hazard a guess that you're using Roku here to keep the match together and to put the big man over.</p>

mwL0z0W.jpg

Yoshizawa's Note: Black Iron Corps and Miura & Yoshizawa have been going back and forth since Kita's debut at BCG Legacy. This is the first time these teams square off in competition and round 1 goes to the BCG veterans as they were able to single out Katou to pick up the pinfall victory.

Miura & Yoshizawa are conducting their post-match interview backstage as Black Iron Corps (BIC) make their way through the curtain. Yoshizawa starts running down BIC and saying they told them they didn't belong here.

The two teams start arguing and are about to come to blows, but then two other men walk into the camera shot.

Bunrakuken Torii | Razan Okamoto

Dawnguard! Torii and Okamoto let Black Iron Corps know that they meant it when they formed their partnership. They will be the ones to lead BCG into it's next phase and they don't need any help from "outsiders" to do so.

Black Iron Corps see the numbers game and head out, leaving Miura & Yoshizawa and Dawnguard staring at one another.

Yoshizawa's Note: Well, not quite the welcoming committee Black Iron Corps could of hoped for upon joining BCG. Miura & Yoshizawa and Dawnguard present a somewhat united front of BCG's old guard to the newcomers.

Yoshisada Matsuzawa vs. Nobuharu Yokokawa

Yokokawa and Matsushita battled in the early stages of the match. Matsuzawa gained the upper hand and went for his Double Arm DDT but Yokokawa countered it into a quick roll-up for the first fall.

The competitors reset and traded strikes again for a time until Nobuharu caught Matsuzawa over-extended and hit a short lariat to floor him.

Yokokawa locked in the Stump Puller to his downed opponent and Matsuzawa had to tap.

Result

Nobuharu Yokokawa defeated Yoshisada Matsuzawa in 15:08 by two straight falls, with the final fall happening by submission with a Stump Puller

A quick counter and chop block knocked the massive Matsushita off his feet as Roku locked in the Twisted Bow And Arrow again for the final fall.

Match #6: Special Tag Team Match

dSSxCn0.jpg2mho8h4.jpgGQDz9Zn.pngDG8b13e.jpgeRoDxu4.jpg

Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii & Razan Okamoto) vs. Tsuneyo Yanagimoto & Bulldozer Brandon Smith

Razan and Smith started this match with Bulldozer gaining the advantage early following a couple massive slams.

Okamoto weathered the storm enough to get to his feet as Yanagimoto was tagged into the match. The two men put on a high-speed wrestling clinic, beautifully blending a technical style mixed in with some high-flying action.

Dual clotheslines knocked both men off their feet as they each struggled to their corners.

The men made simultaneous tags to Smith & Torii as the two men traded some heavy shots with each refusing to go down. Stranded in the Dawnguard corner, Razan & Torii hit a double team move on Smith that took the big man off his feet as he rolled out of the ring.

Razan launched himself off the top as he and Smith crashed to the floor.

Torii and Razan dragged the big man back into the ring, as Smith hit a last ditch lariat that took Torii off his feet. Yanagimoto was cheering his partner on and getting the crowd to help him to his feet, as Smith made the tag to Tsuneyo.

Yanagimoto and Torii traded strikes and counters as Torii got the best of the strike exchange, but Tsuneyo proved to be his better in counter-wrestling.

A top rope attempt from Yanagimoto came up empty as Torii moved out of the way. Razan and Torii set up in opposite corners of the ring stalking the fallen Yanagimoto. A glance from Tsuneyo to Smith saw Smith drop off the apron and stare at his fallen partner.

Torii and Razan exploded out of each corner and hit Yanagimoto as he rose with a tandem Spinning Forearm Smash (Torii) and running V-Trigger/Blackout knee to his lower back (Razan).

Torii draped himself over Tsuneyo for the three count as Razan looked on shouting "Dawnbreaker!!!"

Result

Bunrakuken Torii defeated Tsuneyo Yanagimoto in 19:53 by pinfall with a Dawnbreaker

Match Rating

sma3Die.jpg

Yoshizawa's Note: Dawnguard debut a new tag finisher, Dawnbreaker, that they teased at BCG Legacy before Funakoshi intervened. Smith wasn't as giving to his partner and seems to be looking out for #1.

Tsuneyo & Torii are now split at 1 match a piece at the 2 big shows leading to BCG Heritage 2016 where they faceoff for the BCG World Championship

Greg Gauge & Big Bruiser Findlay vs. Tanyu Toshusai & Toshinobu Taku

The two teams each fought valiantly here, with Taku playing the role of the veteran throughout.

Findlay's power clearly overwhelmed Taku in their exchanges, but the veteran was able to turn a few of them against the big man and end up in positions of control.

Gauge and Tanyu's sections were electric, with both men showcasing their technical wrestling ability. They also had more than their fair share of hard strikes with Gauge brawling and Tanyu responding with vicious kicks and elbows.

In the end, Findlay's power shone through again knocking Tanyu to the floor and hitting a big Atomic Spinebuster on Taku. He tagged in Gauge who locked in the Proton Lock on the veteran for the W in this Special Tag matchup.

Result

Greg Gauge defeated Toshinobu Taku in 15:30 by submission with a Proton Lock

Match Rating

Yoshizawa's Note: Findlay stakes his claim that American Demolition will be a force to be reckoned with when they challenge for the tag titles and Gauge picks up another huge win since joining BCG.

Greg Gauge Challenges Tanyu Toshusai for BCG Challengers Series Championship

Post-match, Greg Gauge helps up Tanyu from his submission. He points at Tanyu, points at himself, then motions like he is putting on the Challengers Series title around his waist.

Tanyu, still holding his arm, looks around to the crowd then nods his head solemnly in response.

Main Event: Funakoshi 10th Anniversary Match

t6uGEuZ.jpgGQDz9Zn.pngZaPm4Dl.jpg

Funakoshi vs. Yoshinaka Taku

The two competitors started this match standing across the ring from one another. After a slight pause, Yoshinaka bowed to Funakoshi showing his respect to the man who pegged him as his opponent for his own anniversary show. Funakoshi responded with pointing at the younger Taku, then opening his palm and slowly panning across the ring as if he was motioning for the upstart to show that he belongs on this stage. Funakoshi then signaled for Yosh to bring it on and the match got underway.

The two competitors traded shots and holds at the start, with the veteran Funakoshi always seeming to gain the upper hand. Funakoshi targeted Taku's back throughout the exchanges as every move seemed to end with either a knee in Taku's back or his lower back driven into the mat or ring post.

A series of suplexes eventually saw Taku reverse a side suplex from Funakoshi into his finisher, a Full Nelson Bomb. Did the youngster just do the unthinkable and knock off Funakoshi?!?!?! The younger Taku scrambled for a cover slowly as the ref brought his hand down with the crowd counting along

One.....Two.....

Kickout from Funakoshi!

As the match progressed, the young Taku's confidence started to rise with each move, as he eventually brawled, wrestled, and gutted out things to a stalemate around the 15:00 minute mark of the match.

The closing stretch saw Funakoshi look to rid himself of his young adversary. Funakoshi tried for his patented Butterfly Backbreaker after a series of right hands, but Taku slipped out behind the veteran. Taku went for a Full Nelson Bomb again, but his back gave way as he went to lift the decade anniversary man for the move. A quick reversal from Funakoshi saw him end up in control after a series of quick grapples for position and he hit his trademark Butterfly Backbreaker for the 3-count and the win.

Result

Funakoshi defeated Yoshinaka Taku in 20:23 by pinfall with a Butterfly Backbreaker

Match Rating

sma3Die.jpg

Yoshizawa's Note: A story of too much, too soon for the younger Taku as he showed exceptionally well in his resolve. The base is there for greatness, but the veteran Funakoshi still has a few too many tricks up his sleeve for Yoshinaka at his point in his journey. Funakoshi cements himself as a top performer in BCG and Yosh shows he belongs in BCG's upper tier. The next opportunity for Yoshinaka the fans will believe he belongs and just needs to make a few adjustments to put himself over the top.

Funakoshi grabs the house mic and thanks Yoshinaka Taku for a great challenge. He mentions that this match only confirmed his thoughts that Taku has great potential and will one day no doubt help carry this great company forward.

Taku makes his way to the back as Funakoshi starts telling the fans about his journey as a wrestler and thanks them for the honor of competing in front of them. He mentions he sees BCG as a place where puroresu can be at it's best and welcomes any and all who want to challenge themselves to try their hand on the iconic black mat.

Funakoshi asks for Tsuneyo Yanagimoto to make his way out

Tsuneyo Yanagimoto

Funakoshi applauds Yanagimoto for his fire and wrestling ability so far this tour. He knows he will do well against Bunrakuken Torii next week at BCG Heritage 2016, and wishes him luck in his challenge for the BCG World Championship.

Funakoshi thanks the fans for coming to his anniversary event and promises many more great matches and championships to come for him. The fans throw streamers and Yoshifusa Maeda presents him with flowers and praise as the camera pans out.

Bunrakuken Torii | Razan Okamoto

Dawnguard's music hits as they make their way out to the ramp with Torii feigning congratulatory applause. Torii reiterates to Funakoshi that the class of BCG is already here, and Funakoshi is looking at both of them right now.

Funakoshi and Tsuneyo fire back, with Tsuneyo telling Torii that unfortunately for him, their match is 1 on 1 and he won't be able to use his precious new tag finisher to put him down at BCG Heritage.

Torii responds by telling Yanagimoto he doesn't have to wait for next week if he wants to fight Torii, they can do this right now. But first, the champ says, let me introduce you to a few friends...

Inejiro Yoshizawa | Noritoshi Miura

Miura & Yoshizawa join in with Dawnguard as the four men make their way down to the ring which now holds only Funakoshi and Yanagimoto.

The four men surround all sides of the ring and climb on the apron.

Funakoshi and Yanagimoto share a quick look, shrug their shoulders, then launch themselves into the 4 men as a brawl ensues.

The numbers game catches up eventually as it's really 2 bouts of 2 on 1, and Funakoshi and Yanagimoto are knocked down getting the boots put to them.

Music hits as...

Azumamaro Kita | Fujio Narahashi

Azumamaro Kita & Fujio Narahashi come flying out of the back to even the odds!!! Narahashi hits a huge lariat on Miura while Kita tackles Yoshizawa over the top rope as the two teams roll to the floor and brawl out into the crowd.

Funakoshi & Yanagimoto are still down in the ring as Dawnguard retreat to the ring corners again, setting up for Dawnbreaker. Funakoshi is groggy in the middle as he gets to his feet as Dawnguard race towards the anniversary man. Yanagimoto at the last second throws himself in front of Funakoshi as Dawnbreaker connects flush on Tsuneyo and he crumples to the mat.

Funakoshi goes into a rage after seeing this and holds his own with Dawnguard, turning the tide as he dumps Razan over the top rope with a clothesline. Funakoshi turns and avoids a Spinning Elbow Smash from Torii and reverses it into a Butterfly Backbreaker as Torii rolls out of the ring on impact.

Dawnguard scramble up the ramp as Funakoshi helps up Yanagimoto.

Funakoshi raises Tsuneyo's arm while pointing and staring a hole through Torii as the show fades out.

That means @DarK_RaideR gets to choose someone/something in the CVerse for me to write up an in-depth profile on (it's almost like he's booked BCG before or something :) )

As you can see, we are starting to form up some stables and introduce some new finishers which gives us a reason for putting some people over the top. I'm a dyed in the wool 90's AJPW fan, so I can't help but throw in some King's Road style storytelling.

Also would like to hear feedback on the match write-ups themselves as this is my first foray there. I won't be writing them for all shows, but for big matches I am going to try and include them time permitting.

Hope you enjoyed!

Please post your choice in the thread @DarK_RaideR and thanks to all for participating!

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p>Black Canvas Grappling announced that they have added a match to the their tour finale, BCG Heritage 2016.</p><p> </p><p>

Given the brawl that ensued at the close of Funakoshi's 10th Anniversary Show, BCG Lionheart, a special six-man tag team match has been set.</p><p> </p><p>

It will be Funakoshi teaming with Black Iron Corps (Azumamaro Kita and Fujio Narahashi) as they take on the newly formed Dawnguard faction of Razan Okamoto, Inejiro Yoshizawa, and Noritoshi Miura.</p><p> </p><p>

Miura and Yoshizawa joined up with Dawnguard at BCG Lionheart and tried to spoil Funakoshi's 10th anniversary celebration by attacking him and Tsuneyo Yanagimoto. Black Iron Corps came out and evened the odds, allowing Funakoshi to stand tall at his anniversary show.</p><p> </p><p>

With four shows left before the tour finale, the two teams are sure to square off and look to build momentum to their encounter at BCG Heritage 2016.</p><p> </p><p>

The match adds to an already stacked card, with 3 championship matches and the Heritage Series tournament final already set for the event.</p><p>

<strong>Bunrakuken Torii | Razan Okamoto | Inejiro Yoshizawa | Noritoshi Miura</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p>The four members of Dawnguard recently sat down with a local paper in Tokyo. They talked about the formation of Dawnguard and why they chose to join forces at this time.</p><p> </p><p>

Bunrakuken Torii and Razan Okamoto led most of the conversation. Razan spoke at length about how it was an honor to join up with the current BCG champion, Torii, and how he sees them as the top tier in BCG. Torii mentioned how great it was to have 3 like-minded people who have his back and how their goal is to help usher in the new era of BCG.</p><p> </p><p>

Miura & Yoshizawa, three time tag team champions themselves in BCG, talked about the need to consolidate forces with all the "outsiders' coming in to Black Canvas and are happy to be a part of the group.</p><p> </p><p>

Razan was asked about whether he would be entering himself into the tournament next month to decide the inaugural Junior championship in BCG by saying he isn't sure yet but will decide in the coming days. He sees himself as a heavyweight after winning the Maeda GP last year, but will talk it over with his new stable-mates before making any final decisions.</p><p> </p><p>

Razan also mentioned he's excited to test himself yet again against Funakoshi at the special six-man tag team match announced for BCG Heritage 2016 and knows that Miura & Yoshizawa are too.</p><p> </p><p>

Torii finished the interview talking up his BCG World Championship defense against Tsuneyo Yanagimoto. He complimented his opponents techincal wrestling ability, but let Yanagimoto know that he doesn't intend to turn this into an amateur wrestling bout. Torii plans to live up to his "Machine Gun" nickname and take the fight early and often to his challenger.</p><p>

That means @DarK_RaideR gets to choose someone/something in the CVerse for me to write up an in-depth profile on (it's almost like he's booked BCG before or something :) )

Please post your choice in the thread @DarK_RaideR and thanks to all for participating!

Just a reminder to post up your choice @DarK_RaideR

Last time olde_gregge wanted to take a look at the top matches happening around the world in the save, which we did HERE

So, something like "what's going on with Burning Hammer?" or "whose winning the US National Battles" are all perfectly valid questions.

If you choose a worker, I'll lay out things like top matches, any championships won, etc...

Anything related to how I plan out my booking (I'm pretty psychotic about it :) ) or how our finances are doing are all fair game too.

Thanks!

<p>Just a note that I’ll prob be a little quiet on the diary front this weekend while play testing Fleisch and I’s RWC mod for release Sunday.</p><p> </p><p>

I might squeeze a show or two out before then but plan to have the whole tour wrapped up next week.</p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: I also went back and touched some things style wise in the thread so it’s more consistent. I’m always tweaking my presentation (just look at my edit dates on show posts) so if you are hopping in late, make sure to take a peek</p>

<p>It's that time of year again. Early April. When the greatest wrestling show on the planet kicks off. Tons of matches you always wanted to see, the spectacle...</p><p> </p><p>

I've put together a little pick'em for the card, with the winner receiving some insight into our booking plans for next month's tour. I'm still ironing out some plans, but the winner will get to choose either:</p><p>

A) The next challenger for the BCG World Tag Team Championship; or</p><p>

B) A company that we will sign a working agreement with and feature some wrestlers on in the future.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm of course talking about Wrestleman....</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Did I have you for a second? Think again (and think right this time <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> ) This is a puro dynasty. I'm of course talking about the greatest wrestling tournament on the planet, the AJPW Champion Carnival!</p><p> </p><p>

That "other show" might also go off on April 4th, but the one I will be paying attention to is Night 1 of the Champion Carny!</p><p> </p><p>

AJPW I consider my "home" promotion. I've watched everything that ever made tape from 90-97 and haven't missed a big show since Kento took the Triple Crown once Jun took over.</p><p> </p><p>

So, without further ado, here is your pick'em form for night 1 at legendary Korakuen Hall!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">2019 AJPW Champion Carnival - Night 1 Pick'em</span></strong></p><p>

- Champion Carnival - Block A: Shuji Ishikawa vs. Yuji Okabayashi [bJW]</p><p>

- Champion Carnival - Block A: Kento Miyahara vs. Atsushi Aoki (replacing Kengo Mashimo)</p><p>

- Champion Carnival - Block B: Daichi Hashimoto [bJW] vs. Takashi Yoshida [Dragon Gate]</p><p>

- Champion Carnival - Block B: Naoya Nomura vs. Jake Lee</p><p>

- Champion Carnival - Block B: Suwama vs. Joe Doering</p><p> </p><p>

Winner receives some insight into our booking for February!</p><p> </p><p>

Get your picks in by midnight, EST on April 3rd!</p>
