So, I'm twelve years into my Road to Glory game, and I seem to be the only one posting on that thread. It was annual entries, but was kind of diary-ish after all, so rather than continue that, let's try an actual diary.

To start out with, big thanks go out to Cory Carnes (an e-fed compatriot) for the W$W Logo and the Pennyworth avatar, and ReapeR, who I caught in a moment of weakness and got to make title belts for me.

The essence of a road to glory game is the user character, and this is mine:

Since I started the game, I've been with Wall Street Wrestling -- a company that should have been founded by Pennyworth in real story purposes, but for this game is owned by Riley McManus. We have been mostly the same product since the game started, but we did tweak Traditional from a Heavy to a Key Feature a while back to try to get slightly more momentum.

<p><strong>2026 W$W News Recap</strong></p><p>

This has gone in the main post in the RTG thread, but since I was giving all the background, I left it off. Just a couple of quick notes this year.</p><p>

In week 2 of May 2026, BHOTWG signed away two key members of W$W's roster, Logan Wolfsbaine and American Elemental II. Unsure if I'll ever get them back, this prompted the Hall of Fame Inductions in June. I like to think that BHOTWG let them come back for the ceremony.</p><p> </p><p>

On Monday/1/Oct/26, NOTBPW signed away current W$W Tag Team Champion Claire Winters. The Originals were able to drop the belt before her notice period ended.</p><p> </p><p>

In October 2026, W$W introduced Hostile Takeover, a 3rd show a month designed to spread into the Mid Atlantic region. Hefty losses that month saw them quickly drop the idea for the time being.</p><p> </p><p>

And on Thursday/2/October/26, sadly, Rip Chord passed away.</p>

<p><strong>Current Goals</strong></p><p>

Riley McManus has given the following critical goals: </p><p>

* Must not have fallen below #20 in the world rankings (currently #19) in the next year.</p><p>

* Must have improved financial balance to at least $350,000 by August 2028.</p><p>

And the following average goals, which have mostly been the same since the beginning of the game:</p><p>

* Cannot hire or extend anyone with problems with the law.</p><p>

* Cannot hire anyone who is a psycopath.</p><p>

* Cannot hire anyone over 35. [This one has varied. It's gotten as high as 42, this is the lowest he's gone so far, but there's always an age limit.]</p><p> </p><p>

In addition, I have my own goals. First, there's getting to Cult, which requires getting New England up to a D+ importance. Secondly, there's getting a TV show -- though I want some written contracts before that. Just trying to run 3 shows in a month was killer.</p>

<p>This looks very exciting! Thought about getting Rich Money as an on air authority figure? <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Very ready to watch this towards the future</p>

Roger Reed vs Jake Idol w/Jackpot Jordan</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A good match to start the show off. The announcers brought up that these two men had drawn the middle seeds, being ranked #8 (Idol) and #9 in the field of 16. Decent performances from both men that ended in 9:39 when Roger Reed hit the Stealth Crusher for the pin. </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Buy-In Tournament First Round Matchup</strong></p><p>

Cameron Jones w/Jackpot Jordan vs Juana Huracan</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Juana Huracan (#6) is a former Buy-In Tournament winner, having won the whole thing 4 years ago, but was unable to parlay that into an Openweight Championship reign. Cameron Jones (#11) is a member of the reigning W$W Tag Team champions, along with Jake Idol, having defeated Juana and Jillian Jarvis to claim his second reign with that title. With the knowledge of the recent tag team competition between them being talked about the whole match, both of these people put it all on the line, but Juana was the one to cinch in the submission, getting Cameron to tap to the Time-Square Lock in 8:17. </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Buy-In Tournament First Round Matchup</strong></p><p>

Micheal Savage vs Tigre Salvaje Jr</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The announcers talk about Tigre Salvaje's recent poor fortunes; despite coming into the match ranked #4, he has had poor showings as of late, and just hasn't managed to string together any real quality wins. Micheal Savage is a brute who is relatively new to W$W, ranked #13. Salvaje Jr gets some good offense in relatively early, but it doesn't take long for Savage to weather the storm and turn the game around. Shortly thereafter, the upset is complete, as he nails Tiger Salvaje Jr with the Locked Hate Demolisher for the pinfall in 7:21. </p><p>

<strong>Winner by Pinfall: Micheal Savage (D+)</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Rocky Weatherfield comes to the ring to talk about his match for the W$W Openweight Championship in two weeks. He says that Harvey and he see eye to eye on a lot of things, but when the bell rings to end the match at IPO, it'll be Rocky who stands victorious.</p><p>

Cali Slick vs Blue Phantom</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Phantom has had one hell of a year, winning the W$W Blue Chip Championship after his mentor American Elemental II left the company. He's ranked #12 for this tournament -- but he's facing perhaps the greatest Blue Chip champion in W$W history, Cali Slick. Cali comes in at #5, riding high after some successful fueds with Matty Faith and Rocky Weatherfield in the last year. Neither man held back, both wanting to show they were better, both in the Blue Chip division as well as trying to climb the ladder to the top. In the end, the action spilled outside the ring. Intent upon each other, neither man heard referee Francis Long's count until the last moment, and neither one made it back into the ring. Long calls for the double count-out in 9:48.</p><p>

<strong>Draw by Double Count-Out (C-)</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Ross Henry comes to the ring. He talks about how he is happy to be finally getting some good competition...good, but not great. Sorry, Pennyworth, but this is going to be your last match in this years tournament.</p><p>

<strong>C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Buy-In Tournament First Round Matchup</strong></p><p>

Ross Henry vs Richard Pennyworth III w/Lisa Bowen</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Ross Henry is undefeated in W$W thus far, good enough to earn him the #3 seed in this tournament despite not having any titles to his name. Pennyworth is a triple crown champion, but has fallen down the card in recent years, and is only #14 in the sixteen man field. Still, he is able to give as good as he gets, with both men trading blows back and forth, and neither one giving an inch. [ED: If only either of these guys were good at selling this match would be the bomb.] Lisa Bowen did her best at ringside to distract either the referee or Henry, but it wasn't to be, and Henry eventually caught Pennyworth with the Earthquake Powerslam for the pinfall in 11:30.</p><p>

<strong>Winner by Pinfall: Ross Henry (B-)</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Buy-In Tournament First Round Matchup</strong></p><p>

Riley McManus vs Aldous Blackfriar</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Like Pennyworth in the previous match, McManus has a long history of titles in W$W, but after losing the Tag Team championship a few months back, he has struggled to regain his momentum. He comes in ranked #15, facing off against #2 ranked Aldous Blackfriar. Blackfriar and his Dark Watch stable have hounded the last two other champions, driving American Elemental II out of the company completely, and being a constant thorn in the side of Harvey Robbinfield since he took the title away from Blackfriar. Last month saw a last man standing match that supposedly ended Blackfriar's challenges for the title, but he is in this tournament to try to get another shot. And it turns out that he wasn't leaving anything to chance -- he was able to distract the referee at a critical moment, and Hellcat Hernandez slid into the ring to lay out Riley McManus. Recovering swiftly, Blackfriar locked on the Gloomweaver Clutch to earn the submission victory in 9:05.</p><p>

<strong>Winner by Submission: Aldous Blackfriar ©</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Harvey Robbinfield, title belt over his shoulder, replies to Rocky Weatherfield's earlier promo. He claims that as good as Rocky might be, Harvey is better. This match is going to be tough, between two top competitors...but in the end, it'll be Harvey, not Rocky, who is going to have to pay attention to the tournament victor.</p><p>

California Love Machine vs Jillian Jarvis</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A matchup between two people who have both held the Openweight and Tag Team gold in W$W. Jillian earns the higher seed at #7 due to having held the Tag gold more recently, but #10 CLM is no slouch. There were no holds barred as these two went back and forth for the longest match of the night. Momentum shifts abounded, as it looked like both would be victorious multiple times, but eventually, CLM would hit the LAX Departure for the pinfall in 14:23.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Buy-In Tournament First Round Matchup</strong></p><p>

Matty Faith vs Amber Allen</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

It's been some time since she did it, but Amber Allen is a former Openweight Champion here in W$W. Unfortuantely, her time in NOTBPW left her trying to climb back up the card when she returned, and she's ranked #16 here in this tournament despite putting on some incredible matches. Matty Faith has had a good year, but hasn't yet tasted gold. W$W officials think that it's about time he pulls that off, and have ranked him #1 for a reason. In this match, the two pulled out all the stops, putting on the show of the night without a doubt. They even teased Amber getting the victory a couple times, but Faith was just too resolute, and would not stay down for the three count. He eventually nails the Leap of Faith for the victory, pinning Allen at 11:50.</p><p>

<strong>Winner by Pinfall: Matty Faith (B-)</strong></p><p> </p><p>

A damned good show, with two matches that will probably leap into the top 10 from the company included. Sets up Incredible Public Onslaught 2027 with some solid matches for the tournament, and a decent title match as well. The show's final rating was a <strong>C+</strong>. Wish I'd known Ross/Pennyworth was going to be so good. I considered leaving it as the semi-main anyway, but in the end I thought CLM/Jarvis would be the better bout.</p><p> </p><p>

Buy-In Tournament Quarterfinal Matchup

Matty Faith vs Roger Reed

This is the way to start a show. While the announcers put over the fact that whoever won this bout was going to have to face a completely fresh competitor in the semi-final round, it was obvious that the two in the ring weren't thinking that far ahead and were completely focused on their current opponent. Some good back and forth action, and Reed would eventually take control and have Faith at his mercy. At least, it looked like he was, until Faith was able to get his knees up on a top-rope move, and from there he had control. A couple big moves to set up his opponent, and the Leap of Faith made victory academic in 12:04.

Winner by Pinfall: Matty Faith (C-)

Camera cuts backstage, where we see Micheal Savage has been watching the match. He taunts Matty Faith, telling him that he put his body on the line for nothing, that when Savage meets him in the ring, there will be nothing left.

C-

Buy-In Tournament Quarterfinal Matchup

Ross Henry vs Juana Huracan

Henry started this match on absolute fire, leaving Huracan to scramble to try to find some offensive maneuvers. She eventually was able to stunt the offense of the undefeated superstar with some...questionable...tactics, but even that wasn't enough to last for long. Even winded from the low blow, Henry was able to drive Huracan into the ring with an Earthquake Powerslam for the 1-2-3 in 7:37.

Winner by Pinfall: Ross Henry (C+)

We cut backstage, where W$W Blue Chip Champion Blue Phantom has turned a corner and run directly into Cali Slick. The two of them exchange heated words, and nearly come to blows, but slightly cooler heads prevail -- Phantom challenges Slick to meet him in the ring later tonight. Slick agrees with a long eye on the Blue Chip belt.

B-

Buy-In Tournament Quarterfinal Matchup

California Love Machine vs Aldous Blackfriar

This match had some pretty good action, but was mostly used by the announcers to talk about other events -- Slick vs Phantom that was just made official, Faith taking on Savage, and Ross Henry's continuing undefeated streak. When Aldous Blackfriar got the submission, cleanly, in 9:45, they verbally questioned whether or not the cult leader would be able to take on Henry in the same way.

Winner by Submission: Aldous Blackfriar ©

W$W Tag Team Championship Match

http://www.2d12.com/RTG/WSW%20Tag%20Team.jpg

Thunder & Lightning (Jason Thunder & Lightning Lomas) vs The Fame Express (Cameron Jones & Jake Idol) w/Jackpot Jordan ©

Thunder & Lightning are newly turned heel, and they took full advantage of every rules loophole they could find in this match. They attacked with the ropes, they stayed in the ring far longer than they should have after a tag, they had the outside guy attack the legal man on the other team. And it was working for them, as they time and time again were able to get an advantage that ALMOST got them the victory. Eventually, it all came to a head after another blow to the back of Cameron Jones' head by Lightning Lomas when he wasn't the legal man, and both teams jumped in the ring attacking each other for long enough that Francis Long had to throw the match out.

Draw by No Contest ©, The Fame Express are still W$W Tag Team Champions

The match is over, but the brawl continues. It would eventually see Thunder & Lightning take out first Cameron Jones, then Jake Idol, leaving both champions down and out while the challengers stand tall.

D+

Non-Title Match

Cali Slick vs Blue Phantom

After a draw at Public Relations 19 and an argument backstage, these two men come out here and try to show the world that they are better than the other. While Phantom manages to get his offense in here and there, he's never really able to get momentum that sticks. Cali, on the other hand, is able to throw the smaller man around the ring with ease, and is eventually able to land the Slick-Back for the victory in 14:22.

Winner by Pinfall: Cali Slick ©

Matty Faith comes to the ring, and talks about his match with Micheal Savage. He says that yes, Savage is the fresher man, but that doesn't account for experience. Tonight's his night, and he can feel it -- Savage will lose, and Faith will go on to win the Buy-In Tournament.

D+

Buy-In Tournament Semifinal Matchup

Matty Faith vs Micheal Savage

Faith tries to put his money where his mouth is, and starts the match fast and furious, causing Savage to go on the defensive for quite some time. It's obvious, though, that Savage is just trying to weather the storm, and eventually he is able to plow over Faith with a vicious clothesline that is the beginning of the end. It's quite obvious that Faith is still tired from his earlier bout, and Savage takes full advantage, hitting the Locked Hate Demolisher for the pinfall in 8:35.

Winner by Pinfall: Micheal Savage (C+)

Buy-In Tournament Semifinal Matchup

Ross Henry vs Aldous Blackfriar

Blackfriar seems overwhelmingly confident from the beginning of this match, playing with Henry by using rope breaks constantly. Henry was getting visibly frustrated by these tactics, but Blackfriar continued to play keep-away from nearly four minutes before Henry was finally able to get his hands on him. From there, the match kicked into high gear, with both men going on flurries of offense back and forth. Henry would eventually take control and look to be setting himself up for victory when Blackfriar would pretend to be injured, drawing Long's attention. This would be the cue for Hellcat Hernandez and Marcel LaFleur to slide in and lay out Henry with an Evil Rites. Blackfriar would scramble to make the cover, but was a bit too quick in moving, and Long caught LaFleur leaving the ring. With Henry down and LaFleur in the ring, Long quickly called for the bell, awarding Henry the DQ victory in 13:43.

Victory by Disqualification: Ross Henry (B)

W$W Openweight Championship Match

http://www.2d12.com/RTG/WSW%20Openweight.jpg

Rocky Weatherfield vs Harvey Robbinfield ©

The match starts with a handshake between two men that respect each other greatly. After that, it was all business. They started with a long feeling out period, each jockying for any little advantage they could get. Rocky would take control first, but that wouldn't last, and each man was able to have the advantage numerous times over the course of this long match. Eventually, both men exhausted and frustrated by numerous near pins, Harvey would just barely get Rocky up off the ground, but manages to nail a picture perfect Omega Driver to get the pin and the 6th defense of his belt in 22:20.

Winner by Pinfall and STILL W$W Openweight Champion: Harvey Robbinfield (C+)

Ross Henry comes out to the ring for the Buy-In final match, and grabs a microphone. He tells Savage that he may have gotten lucky once tonight, and he may be the fresher man, but Henry is undefeated, and that isn't going to change tonight.

C

2027 Buy-In Tournament Final

Ross Henry vs Micheal Savage

Savage didn't like what Henry had to say just before the match, and the two men came to grips quite quickly, trading offense back and forth with tremendous flurries. Both men are big, but Henry had to play the underdog in this matchup as Savage is just a bit bigger, and had the strength advantage in this fight. It did seem to throw Henry off his gameplan for a bit, but eventually he found his footing, and was able to use his greater speed to his advantage. It was a battle of attrition, but little by little, he took down Savage's base, and was eventually able to get the big man up...and back down with the Earthquake Powerslam, giving him the pinfall victory and the Buy-In Tournament championship in 13:41.

Winner by Pinfall and 2027 Buy-In Tournament Champion: Ross Henry (B)

Ecstatic with victory, Ross Henry celebrates wildly, going into the stands to celebrate with the fans, who lap it up, cheering him on.

B-

--

Hell of a show. Hell of a show. Henry pulls out two B rated matches in one show (turn out to be #5 and #7 matches in W$W history), and has to be viewed as the top contender for the championship going forward as his undefeated streak continues. Savage did far better than I thought he would, rising to the challenge of taking on two top contenders who had been weakened, and making both matches things of glory. The main event helped make this tournament our third B- rated show and best of all time, setting 2027 up for great things.

Thunder & Lightning vs The Amazing Caballero Bros (Marcos Caballero & Jose Caballero)

A surprisingly good match considering it was a showcase for T&L to build them up as a heel team. The heels tossed the smaller Caballeros all around the ring, used dirty tactics, and in short, played up being heels to the best of their ability. The Caballeros, for their part, sold like champs. Marcos was able to get a hot tag at one point, and sent both Lomas and Thunder packing outside the ring, but they regrouped quickly, and shortly after that, Lomas hit the Thunder Struck for the pinfall.

The crowd here at the Den, those of them who didn't see the pre-show, at least, had their questions about who walked away with the Openweight Championship answered when Weatherfield came out without the belt. He was focused and determined to regain his momentum after losing his opportunity at the title, and he was in control for much of the match. Reed would use a thumb to the eye a ways in to take control for some time, and it looked like the end might be near when Weatherfield kicked out of a sure fall at a 2.9 count not once, but twice in a row. Then followed the inevitable face comeback, and an Implant DDT gave Weatherfield the win in 18:27.

Tigre just can't go as much anymore, but even then, he still manages to put on a decent show. For once, it looked like Henry might be in trouble, as Salvaje used greater technical skills to wrap the bigger man up in hold after hold. Henry was not to be denied, however, and eventually just peeled Salvaje off his latest hold with pure brute strength, and shortly afterwards, hit the Earthquake Powerslam for the victory in 9:25.

Winner by Pinfall: Ross Henry (C+)

--

A decent show, resetting the field to move forward for the new year. Henry continues his undefeated streak and is on a collision course with the champ. Blue Phantom and Cali Slick are bound to go head to head with each other. Thunder & Lightning continue to build momentum. And you know the Dark Watch is out there, plotting and planning their next move. Show's final rating was a C+, still easily good enough to raise our popularity in New England.

Got pictures up, so that's something. I'm still not really happy with the show format though. Any suggestions?

Also, looked into Rich Money. He won't talk to me right now because I'm too small, and he's commanding more than twice what I'm paying anyone else. So...a good idea, but maybe one who's time has yet to come.

Thunder & Lightning get their shot at tag team gold to start the show, while the announcers talk about how the pair have turned callous and violent in recent months. Fitting action to words, Lomas starts out using some weasely tactics to get the champions off balance, and the heels are able to isolate Cameron Jones for long periods of time, knocking Idol off the apron time and again when he was just about to make the tag. As things were really starting to look dire, however, a desperation jawbreaker from Jones stunned Thunder for long enough to make the hot tag to Jake Idol. He cleaned house to a huge cheer from the crowd, and the faces were in control from then on. With a couple of quick tags back and forth to a now recovered Jones, Idol was eventually able to hit Jason Thunder with the Reality Check and make the cover.

Ryland quickly disabused the crowd of that notion, taking a flurry of offense from Faith at the early goings and selling like a champ, only to counter a Leap of Faith to stunt his opponent's momentum. Taking advantage of the shocked Faith, Ryland was able to get some offense of his own going, and scored not one, not two, but three near falls in a row. Inevitablely, however, Faith would recover, and would get the pinfall with Faith Falls Eternal.

The undercard gets a chance to shine now, as these two both have huge upside for their careers. An obvious clash in styles makes for an entertaining bout, with Diaz controlling most of the action, tossing Perez from ringpost to ringpost. Perez would be able to use his speed to his advantage on occasion, sending Diaz to the outside with a picture-perfect rana, and while he was still recovering followed it up with a huge plancha dive. Perez struggled to get the dead weight of Diaz back into the ring following this spot, and when he finally maanged it and entered the ring himself, it turned out Diaz was playing possum. A vicious looking Asian Thumb Spike dropped Perez to the mat instantly, and Diaz made a lacksadasical cover for the 3.

It seems, though, that Silencer would have something to say about that. He has been primarily a tag team wrestler here in his second stint in W$W, but has never managed to taste the gold himself. To prove that he should be in the conversation as well, he resorts to dirty tactics early and often, keeping Aroma on his toes trying to defend against eye gouges, low blows, and late rope breaks. Cali and Blue Phantom have been at odds since their double count-out in the Buy-In Tournament. Pennyworth and McManus renewed a rivalry that dates back nearly to the founding of W$W shortly before the end of the year. While both teams are rather slap-dash, they both manage to work well enough with their respective partners to have a good tag team match. Each of the four men in the ring have held Tag Team gold of some sort in the past, so they all know what they're doing. Pennyworth starts in the ring against Phantom, and quickly starts putting painful looking holds on the Blue Chip champion, wearing him down and taking his legs away from him. He and Slick show some decent tag work as they continue to work Phantom over and keep McManus frustrated on the apron. They even manage to pull him into the ring a couple times with dirty tactics, drawing the attention of Francis Long and allowing them to improvise some double team maneuvers. It almost looks like it would be over when Pennyworth locks on the Money Clip in the center of the ring, but McManus rushes into the ring, knocks Slick off the apron, and lays out Pennyworth all in one rebound move. Dragging his partner to the corner, he makes the tag himself, and starts whipping Pennyworth all around the ring as Slick continues to recover on the outside. By the time Slick has recovered, Phantom is back up as well, and both sides do some rapid fire tags trying to tanke another advantage. The end comes with Phantom surprises everyone with a Phantom Cradle; the count was at 2 before Slick even realized what was happening, and hit 3 before he entered the ring to make the save.

W$W Openweight Championship Match

To everyone's surprise, Roger Reed answers the champion's call, and makes his way to the ring. The two men get in each other's faces for quite a while, going nose to nose and muttering at each other. When they finally separate, Robbinfield tells Francis Long that he's putting the belt on the line here tonight, no matter who his opponent is.

The bell rings, and Reed wastes no time in attacking the champion, though Robbinfield is obviously angry and practically laughs off the early blows. This escalates a bit when he simply shrugs off a vicious rebound clothesline attempt. Reed visibly snaps, and starts laying waste to the champion using any means neccessary, mostly moves that look like they could potentially injure the champ -- chop blocks, attacks to the knees, a horrendous chop right to the adams apple. No longer able to no-sell, Robbinfield has no choice but to absorb the punishment for a long while, just trying to look for an opening. When he finally finds one, the crowd goes wild, and it looks like the champ might be able to pull it out...that's when Micheal Savage surprises everyone and slides in the ring. Francis Long gets in his face and demands he leave, but Savage just steps past the ref and lays out Robbinfield. Suddenly there is a roar from the curtain, and Ross Henry rushes the ring, spearing Savage out of the sky and turning to attack Roger Reed immediately afterwards. Robbinfield has recovered at this point, and he and Henry square off against Savage and Reed, laying heavy blows on one another as Long calls for the bell, throwing out the match.

A solid show that hopefully sets up some continuing storylines. Faith is going to have to deal with the Dark Watch, we've got the sudden alliance of Savage and Reed, and Ross Henry still needs to get his title shot. What will happen when we next see these men in the ring?

W$W Tag Team #1 Contenders Match

Elimination Match

Three teams that have all had solid showings but come up short in their quests for tag team gold meet here to determine who will take on The Fame Express at Bear Market Beatdown. This match is held in triple threat elimination rules -- three wrestlers in the ring at once, and when one member of the team is pinned or submits, both members of the team must leave ringside. Mike Aroma, a super heavyweight, starts out in the ring against Juana Huracan and Lightning Lomas, dwarfing both of his competitors in size and stature. Despite early attempts at teamwork between Huracan and Lomas, Aroma simply overwhelms them in the early going with his sheer size. It took a blind tag to Thunder and a surprise chop block to take the big man off his feet. After that, the two heel teams kept him isolated and worked on his legs for a long period of time before he was finally able to throw them off and get a tag to Lindland. Lindland came in and tried to clean house, but Bitch Slap and Thunder & Lightning worked together too well, and referee Long was overwhelmed trying to keep control, essentially turning it into a 4-on-1 match for about four minutes while Aroma recovered. By the time he did, Jarvis already had Lindland in a cover, and got the three count as Aroma desperately tried to get through the ropes.

Elimination: The Next Big Things

Down to two teams, the action picked up a tick, but all four competitors were obviously fatigued from having taken down the two bigger men in a concerted effort. A minute or so of fast-paced offense, and Thunder had rolled up Jarvis with a schoolboy, getting the pinfall and winning the match.

Savage started out this match against Robbinfield, and a bit of a game of cat and mouse ensued. Henry immediately asked for the tag in, and as soon as he was tagged in, Savage tagged in Reed. Then the situation reversed, with Robbinfield wanting in, and Savage coming back in as soon as that tag was made. Henry asked for the tag again, but this time, Robbinfield ignored him and charged across the ring to Savage, and the action was underway in earnest. This was a decent match that showcased the newly formed tag team, giving both men a bit of momentum as they held off, and even controlled, the Openweight champion and presumptive #1 contender. The heels were able to play keepaway for most of the match, only tagging in to face their own foe when the face was already at a disadvantage, and using the dq counts quite effectively for double teaming. Then, just when it seemed like they were about to get the victory, with Savage pinning Robbinfield, Henry rushed the ring, landing a devastating Earthquake Powerslam on Savage, and then spearing Reed off the ring apron into the barrier keeping the crowd away. Final Thoughts

I like the way this one went. Nothing overly ambitious, but it set up for Bear Market Beatdown well, establishing 5 matches for that show. I'm sure others will be added to the card, but the established matches here give a giant base to work from. Also, lesson learned: Reed likes to be without a script, Savage does not.

Card for Bear Market Beatdown:

Aldous Blackfriar vs Matty Faith

Cali Slick vs Blue Phantom © for the W$W Blue Chip Championship

Thunder & Lightning vs The Fame Express © for the W$W Tag Team Championship

Ross Henry vs Micheal Savage in a Hardcore Match

Roger Reed vs Harvey Robbinfield © for the W$W Openweight Championship

A special thanks to John Lions, who has graciously given me a style-appropriate shot of the user character. Going forward, I'll continue to use the hand-drawn version for editorials like this, but when Pennyworth is in the show, you'll see the new image:

http://www.2d12.com/RTG/Workers/Richard%20Pennyworth%20III.jpg

And since I just overwrote the old one, it'll apply to previous shows as well. Bonus! And if anyone else cares to help out with additional graphics and such, don't hesitate to PM me. I'd love to have some graphics for my shows and replacements for the regen-workers.

Now, on to the show.

W$W Blue Chip Championship Match

http://www.2d12.com/RTG/WSW%20Blue%20Chip.jpg

A nice strong match to start, as Phantom and Slick brought everything they could to the match. For over twenty minutes, they took turns gaining advantage, coming close to a victory, and losing the advantage again. As time went on, however, it slowly became apparent that Slick was getting the better of the champion, as Blue Phantom's time in control kept shrinking while Slick's kept expanding. The crowd was eating up his inevitable comeback, but it didn't seem to come, as time and again, Slick blunted the luchador's offensive maneuvers. Finally, Phantom was put down hard with the Slick-Back, and Cali went for the cover...and got a two before he lifted Phantom's shoulder up on purpose. Hitting one more Slick-Back on the fallen champion, he stared down at him, then rolled out of the ring. Cali walked over to the timekeeper's area, stood on a table, and lifted the Blue Chip Championship high, staring down Francis Long as the referee gave a slow ten-count, then ringing the bell.

He's above the Blue Chip Championship, and he just proved it by showing everyone that he could have claimed this title right here, right now. He tosses the belt to the floor in disgust, and says that it's time he climbs to his rightful position. And what better way to do so then to show that he has what it takes to be Openweight champion -- and to that end, he is calling out Ross Henry. He challenges Henry to face him in a match next month, and to put his guaranteed Openweight title shot on the line. He drops the microphone and walks out of the arena.

Blackfriar spent a good portion of this match playing mind games with Faith, utilizing the ropes and the referee's 10 count to stay out of reach as often as possible, and when he was in the ring utilizing such 'moves' as tweaking Faith's nose to try to aggravate his opponent. Eventually, Faith tracked down Blackfriar outside of the ring, and took no little joy in driving him over and over into the ringside steps and barriers. Blackfriar sold these attacks like a champ, but when Faith rolled him into the ring to beat the ten-count, he revealed that he had been playing possum. A surprise european uppercut drove Faith to the ropes, and Blackfriar quickly took control after that, eventually locking on the Gloomweaver Clutch for the victory.

Having come up short on multiple occasions to claim the Tag Team gold, Lomas and Thunder huddle in the corner before the bell rings quietly discussing strategy. When the bell does ring, however, they are all business. The fight goes back and forth numerous times, with all the usual spots -- Jones was isolated for a while, Idol gets the hot tag, all four men in the ring at once, etc. Jackpot Jordan saves the match for the champions a couple of times, distracting Francis Long at opportune times. Despite their valiant efforts, however, the champions are unable to dispatch the well-prepared challengers this time around, as Jason Thunder gets the pinfall after hitting Cameron Jones with the Thunder Struck. Lomas prevents Idol from making the save, and we have new tag team champions.

Hardcore Match

This was a match with no countouts and no disqualifications, and both men took advantage of that fact early and often. As soon as the bell rang, Savage rolled out of the ring and grabbed a nearby chair. Henry, for his part, sought under the ring and came out with a sledgehammer. It didn't take much longer for both weapons to come into play, as Henry ate a hard chair shot and returned with a sledgehammer to the gut. From there, the match devolved into a hard hitting affair with no quarter asked or given by either competitor. Violence abounded, and both men were very quickly finding it hard to even stand. Eventually, Savage would hit a vicious powerbomb through a ringside table, leaving Ross Henry completely out of it, but outside the ring. Eyeing the ring wearily, Savage slowly tries to drag Henry to the ring, but when he tries to roll him in, his legs completely buckle, and he collapses to the mat. For a long moment, both men are down and out, as Francis Long checks on them both. Savage is the first to stir, but Henry is right behind him, as both men instinctively climb into the ring. Pulling themselves to their feet, they wearily trade blows back and forth. One hard hit rocks Henry back into the ropes, but he uses the momentum to pull out a desparate lift, and slams Savage to the mat with an Earthquake Powerslam. Collapsing on top of his opponent, neither man moves as Long counts to three, giving Henry the hard fought win.

W$W Openweight Championship Match

http://www.2d12.com/RTG/WSW%20Openweight.jpg

With the crowd already buzzing from the hardcore matchup they had just seen, the competitors for the Openweight championship came to the ring ready to go. At the bell, they rushed at each other, and neither man left anything behind. A match full of big spots, highlight reel footage, and more near falls than you could count left the crowd even more excited. Trading momentum shifts throughout the slow build of the match, Reed would lose control for good after a top rope elbow drop hit nothing but the mat. Robbinfield would fully gain control after that, hitting big move after big move, and was without a doubt going to complete the good-guy recovery and victory. But then, he set up Reed for one final move, and the challenger slipped out of his grasp, countered it into a rollup, and grabbed a handful of tights that Francis Long was unable to see. That advantage was just enough to keep Robbinfield down for the count, and we have a dastardly new champion. As the camera fades to black, Ditterich is heard complaining about just how the championship changed hands, but it changed hands nonetheless.

Final Thoughts

Reed was hitting his fatigue limit on that last match, but Robbinfield could have still gone a bit longer, and that was with a 'Steal the Show' match lasting 19 minutes. I was honestly a little disappointed in how this show turned out; seems that neither Henry nor Savage were particularly comfortable with the hardcore match, and none of the big ones that I was hoping for good stuff out of turned out quite as good as I was expecting. As for the Openweight title switch -- I went back and forth on that one for a while before deciding on the tainted switch. Henry has still got the called shot in his pocket (unless Cali takes it from him), and having Reed with the title gives that a Heel-Face match instead of Face-Face, and I kind of wanted to give Reed and Savage a decent push. With Henry continuing his undefeated streak (22-0 now in W$W, I checked) against Savage, it went to Reed to claim victory. I think of all the matches I was disappointed with, Phantom/Slick was the one I was most disappointed by. A C- to start the show just wasn't what I was looking for. Maybe Phantom isn't quite ready to get the good grades just yet.

Final Rating: C

So, I'm eleven years into my Road to Glory game...

Just getting into this diary, and I had a quick question: am I reading the title history correctly, that no Buy-In Tournament winner has actually won the Openweight title as a result? Or did I miss one?

It was apparent early on that Savage had expected a walkover, but found that this match turned out to be far more competitive than he had banked on. Still, size does matter, and once Savage was able to catch Windham, it was all but over. The Locked Hate Demolisher practially knocked Windham unconcious, and it was an easy pinfall after that.

This match was basically here to allow them to show off their skills, and they were able to take the Caballeros apart bit by bit. The Caballeros were able to stage a somewhat successful babyface rush at the end of the match, but that stalled completely when Thunder Struck took out Marcos.

Unlike his fellow jobbers earlier in the night, Reinhardt was here just to do the job. He sold every bit on Henry's offense as the juggernaut went on a tear. The announcers used this moment to play up how different his path to the title might be now that Reed had taken the title off of Robbinfield -- Ross had been going after Harvey despite their mutual respect, so what kind of actions will he take now that someone essentially stole the title from his friend? And then there was the challenge laid down by Cali Slick after his match at the Beatdown. Henry has all kinds of directions he can go, and neither Ditterich nor McQueen could figure out which direction he might go in. After playing with his food for a while, Ross finally but Reinhardt out of his misery with an Earthquake Powerslam and an easy pin.

Henry is still celebrating his domination in the ring when Cali Slick's music hits, and the man himself steps out onto the ramp. He reiterates his challenge from Bear Market Beatdown for the crowd here in New England -- a one on one match between Slick and Henry, with Henry's guaranteed title match from the Buy-In Tournament on the line. As Slick puts it, "Let's see if your confident enough to put everything you've worked for on the line." Henry stares Slick down for a while, then reaches for a microphone from a ringside assistant. He just says two words. "You're on."

Non-Title Match

A non-title match that exists basically to see if Blue Phantom still has what it takes after essentially losing to Cali Slick at the Beatdown. He spent a good portion of this match looking cautious, even timid. Blackfriar kept calling out instructions to LeFleur, and the champ was on the unfortunate end of a long string of offense because of that. Finally after a pinfall that really might have been a 3 count but Francis Long said was just two, Phantom seemed to wake up. He started countering moves left and right, and took control over the match, finally getting LeFleur down in the Phantom Cradle for a 3-count of his own.

A decent match between two veterans who are approaching the tail ends of their career. Idol was able to take control after that and basically walk Salvaje through the rest of the planned match, but the quality suffered for it. Idol hit the Reality Check perhaps a little earlier than planned, and made a quick cover that Long may have also quick-counted just a touch.

This is the first time these two have met in singles competition in nearly 7 years, but their old familiarity came back to the forefront as they enjoyed being in the main event again. The dislike they hold for one another was apparent, and the announcers helped build on that as they talked about their storied history. This was a back and forth match and a decent technical affair, then two men trading hold for hold. Pennyworth would gain the advantage and hold control after about 5 minutes in, and slowly worked on the neck and shoulder region of McManus. After one DDT too many, however, McManus would bounce up to his feet and basically knock Pennyworth out of his shoes with a devastating lariat that left both men on the ground. McManus was the first to his feet, and gained control of the matchup. He was setting up for his finisher, when Lisa Bowen managed to grab his shoe as he was bouncing off the ropes, causing him to stumble...and stumble right into Pennyworth's arms. Pennyworth inverted him quickly, wrenching on the neck with the Money Clip, and McManus had no choice but to submit.

Final Thoughts

Angle-heavy show that worked out ok; the post-show match was there because all four of those guys had been used in angles but not in matches throughout the night, so why not? I was actually disappointed in that rating, somehow was the poorest match of the night. And I was nervous about having the midcarders main event the show, but Salvaje hasn't exactly been lighting his matches on fire, so I didn't think they'd do any better, and none of the other matches felt like main event material. Only two matches currently booked for Breaking the Bank, but you know there'll be more. That's one of the problems with not having multiple shows to set things up--it always feels like you're reaching.

Final Rating: C

Just a quick note to say I'm still here...I've been trapped in the re-render thread for the last couple of days downloading images and never getting to play the game. Only have about 10 pages left though, so hopefully will be back tomorrow.

Pennyworth was obviously distracted in this match, as it was apparent that Riley's challenge was in his mind. Idol was able to take control early, and was seemingly going to walk away from the match with an easy victory. Bowen called Pennyworth out of the ring to regroup, and gave him a vicious slap that seemed to knock some sense into him. Pennyworth came back in fighting, and after a couple of blocked moves, took control back for a while. Pennyworth and Idol traded near falls until Pennyworth got frustrated and tried to yank off the covering from the turnbuckle. He persisted despite Francis Long's pleas and count, and when he pulled it off completely, Long had no choice but to call for the bell.</p><p> </p><p>

The champions came into this match supremely confident, and the early parts of the match showed that they may in fact have a reason for that, as they controlled Lindland and Aroma with ease, despite letting the faces tag nearly at will. All it took was one missed move, though, for The Next Big Things to take control, isolating Thunder from his corner for quite a few minutes. He was finally able to make a tag, but the champs tried for a quick double team on Lindland, and Thunder tagged right back in. They rightly point out, however, that anyone who is able to defeat the champion (as The Next Big Things just did) could catapult themselves to the front of the line, and Amber Allen, a former champion herself, is probably planning to do just that. This turns out to be a fast and furious match, featuring grappling and painful looking holds from Allen and lots of high flying and speedy maneuvers from Phantom. Faith is apparently up for the gauntlet that Blackfriar has set for him, as he rushes the ring and has the bell ringing almost before Blackfriar has gotten rid of the microphone. LeFleur shows that his skills have been improving lately, and he puts on quite a good match against Faith. Faith is the first one to have to drop out of the ring to gather himself, but is rushed back in by Blackfriar at the side. He had obviously figured out a new gameplan, however, and soon took control, coming close to a pinfall a couple times. LeFleur would take advantage again after Blackfriar distracted Faith, but a rush into the corner drove his shoulder into the ringpost, and LeFleur rolled out of the ring in obvious pain. Blackfriar got up on the apron and jawed back and forth with Faith for a few moments before a wild swing by Faith sent him back to the floor. LeFleur rolled back in and stood up -- but almost immediately ate a Faith Falls Eternal, staying down to lose.</p><p> </p><p>

Henry and Cali go right at each other from the beginning, throwing plenty of closed fists and in general being completely brutal with one another. Henry slowly starts to take advantage, a slightly longer reach giving him the edge. Just as it looks like he's about to take total control, however, Francis Long gets in between Slick and the ropes at the exact wrong moment, and goes down in a heap. Slick takes advantage of this by rolling out of the ring and grabbing a steel chair. He lays in two good shots on Henry, who shakes them off. However, when Slick rears back and hits the third, he ends up doing right in front of the recovering referee, who calls for the instantaneous bell.</p><p> </p><p>

Restart the match, and this time, let's make it a no dq match." Henry rolls back into the ring, and motions for Long to ring the bell repeatedly until he eventually relents.</p><p>

As soon as the bell rings, Slick rushes at Henry with the chair still in his hand. Henry was obviously expecting it, however, and lands a picture perfect drop kick on the chair, driving it back into Slick. From there, the match went as normal, though with both men pulling out various weapons on numerous occasions. At least three chairs received obvious chair-destorying dents from vicious shots on downed competetiors, the ring steps were used and abused, and tables were pulled out. The ending of the match actually came from those same tables. Slick had pulled out a couple of tables, and managed to get them set up side by side in the ring while Henry was down outside the ring. After a bit more back and forth fighting, they both ended up on top of the ringpost. Slick tried for a superplex, but Henry was able to reverse, and both men ended up crashing through the tables. Long went down to check both men, and called for the bell, saying neither man was fit to continue the match.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Final Thoughts</strong></p><p>

So yeah, a couple of mistakes. Forgot to look for Diaz's schedule, so Blue Phantom's match has to wait for a bit. Also, the second part of Slick/Henry was booked as a slow build, but I didn't give it enough time for that, because I was thinking of the whole match/angle/match time as part of the build. And a monthly event without a title match feels weird now. Also, having the best match of the night (and one of the best in W$W history) as the opener was surprising...but I might have to turn that into a storyline at some point in the near future. Two injuries in one match during Faith/LeFleur, though neither of them should be serious. Also, not a loss, but this is the first time in W$W that Henry didn't end up with a win during a match -- what does that mean for the future?</p><p> </p><p>

Matty Faith takes on Hernandez in the second bout of his gauntlet to get another fight with Blackfriar. These two have fought before, and don't really click but made a go of it nonetheless. He did manage to earn the victory with the Leap of Faith after a hard fought match, with a smirk from Blackfriar at ringside.

A decent match where the Openweight champion and his partner try to make a case for a tag title shot as well, and for a good portion of the match, they were in complete control, keeping Cameron Jones away from his corner. The turning point came when Ross Henry's music hit and the man himself came to the top of the ramp, causing a very timely distraction as Reed dropped from the ring apron to jaw with his challenger. Jones used that moment to make a hot tag, and without anyone to tag to, The Fame Express made short work of Savage. A match portrayed by the announcers as a key indicator in the hunt for the next tag team challengers, these four put on quite a good show. Aroma and Lindland obviously had the size and power advantage, but the ladies were up to the challenge and more as they outran and outmaneuvered the big men for quite some time. Guerilla tactics made up the primary story of the match, as the ladies would stick and move, working on the leg of whichever man was legal at the time, trying to take away their power base. Unfortunately, despite looking quite good and effective, all it took was one huge headbutt at the wrong time, and The Next Big Things would take control. Final Thoughts

A decent lead in to House Money. Decisions have to be made about the Openweight championship -- is it going to be Henry, Slick, or both? Did The Next Big Things earn themselves a title shot, or was The Fame Express's victory over the Openweight champion and his partner put them in the conversation as well? Is Matty Faith going to get his revenge on Aldous Blackfriar when he finally gets him in the ring? And hey, some image changes, too (yes, I spent FAR too long getting these figured out).

Tag Team Number One Contenders Match

Decent start to the show as we have here a respectful match between two top babyface teams. TNBT showcased their power advantage, tossing the smaller Jones and Idol around the ring like ragdolls. That said, The Fame Express did not back down, and met the power game with a strong brawling game of their own; the chops and strikes being traded echoing around the arena. In the end, TNBT lived up to their moniker when Aroma hit Jones with the Cracked Facebuster to get the duke and the chance to take on the Tag Team Champions.

Henry comes down to the ring for his match with Savage, but takes a microphone before his opponent comes to the ring. He lets the crowd know that W$W management has sided with Cali Slick -- the W$W Openweight Championship match next month will indeed be a triple threat. Henry says that doesn't matter, though. Going through two opponents, in his experience here, hasn't been that much more difficult than going through one. One on one or a triple threat, he's still going to leave The Closing Bell as your W$W Openweight Champion.

Savage representing his tag team partner here in this bout, and comes out of the gate strong. After a few minutes of, well, savage beatings, Henry looked dazed and confused, and the ending was merely a matter of time. But of course, we all know that's not going to happen, and a spear landed in desperation left Savage sucking air of his own, and allowed Henry to recover. Once both men were back on their feet, they started trading thunderous fists, with Henry eventually gaining the upper hand. A few more back and forths, a couple teased near falls followed, but Henry would recover and take down Savage with the Earthquake Powerslam. Still, as the announcers noted -- Henry looked more vulnerable in this match than he has since he's been in W$W. What does that mean for the title shot next month?

These two lock up for the first time since Diaz attacked Phantom a couple months ago. Phantom is frustrated right out of the gate, as Diaz plays with him, using the bigger frame to keep the luchadore off balance and out of reach. Once the action starts for real, Diaz easily takes control of the smaller man, using a variety of painful looking blows to wear down the champion slowly but surely. Diaz sets up Phantom for the Thumb Spike with the champion having not even gotten any offense in of note, but Phantom is able to use the momentum of the blow to roll through and send Diaz into the turnbuckle. Kicking into high gear, Phantom takes to the skies with a fast-paced offense that rocks the bigger man, eventually getting him off his feet. Phantom goes for the cover once, twice, three times, but Diaz kicks out every time. After that, a bit of a game of cat and mouse ensues, as Phantom tries to take to the air again for the momentum, but Diaz constantly closes in just a bit too quickly for the moves to be set up. The end comes when Phantom had finally gotten Diaz down on the ground again after a picture-perfect Frankensteiner, and went to the top rope to deliver the final blow. It turned out that Diaz was just playing possum, however, and once Phantom took to the air, he was on his feet in a moment. Phantom was caught in mid air, Diaz hit the Asian Thumb Spike, and we have a new champion.

Slick is given the chance to back up his words in this match against a former Openweight champ. This proves to be a very evenly fought match, with both men getting their moments of offense -- and their moments being controlled by their opponent. As the match wore on, though, it appeared that Robbinfield's stamina started to fade as Slick continued to work on his abdomen, trying to take his wind away. And it worked, too. allowing Slick to hit the Slick-Back for hte pinfall victory.

Blackfriar would give as good as he got, however, even cutting Faith open at one point after driving him into the ringside stairs. That seemed to rile Faith up more than wear him down, though, and he started driving Blackfriar back, putting him entirely on the defensive. Just when it looked like Faith might have the match fully in hand, Blackfriar got to his feet in an instant, and snapped his fingers. The lights went out for a long moment, and when they were back, the rest of the Dark Watch was in the ring. As Marcel LeFleur and Hellcat Hernandez attacked Faith, Long had no choice but to call for the bell.

The beating continues in the ring, as Faith is outnumbered 3 to 1 and had already gone through a grueling match. As they continue, each member of the Dark Watch takes turns hitting him with their finishers. Referee Francis Long and the road agents are pleading with them to stop, to allow the medics to see to Faith. Blackfriar pushes Long away, lands one more vicious kick right into Faith's face, apparently knocking him out, then snaps his fingers again. The lights go out. Ten seconds pass, then twenty. The lights finally come back on -- but none of the wrestlers are present. All three members of the Dark Watch are gone, as is Matty Faith. Ditterich and McQueen wonder just what vile plans Blackfriar has now.

Reed comes out to the ring with his title belt over his shoulder. He says that the W$W management is playing favorites. They never wanted him to have this title -- as far as they were concerned, Robbinfield should still be champion and getting ready to face off against Henry. But he did what they said he couldn't, and he claimed this title. So now he has to defend it tonight against Rocky Weatherfield -- and once he gets past this, he has to look forward to a triple threat match where he has to defend against two men at once. And not only that, he doesn't even have to be involved in the fall to lose his title. Reed says that the whole thing stinks, but he's just going to do what he's set out to do from the beginning -- prove that he is the best wrestler in this whole damn company.

Having delivered his diatribe, Reed waits for his opponent to make his way to the ring, but doesn't wait quite long enough. Just before Weatherfield has gotten fully in the ring, Reed is on him, driving fists into the challengers head while all he can do is cover up. The referee is finally able to force him to back off, and checks the challengers condition before ringing the bell. Once the bell rings, Reed is right back on the attack, driving Weatherfield to the mat almost before anyone knows what is happening. To his dismay, however, when he goes for the cover, Weatherfield kicks out. Not once, but three straight times. When he lifts his opponent up in frustration to go for a bigger move, Weatherfield gets a second wind and lands a vicious looking european uppercut that drives the champion all the way out of the ring. From there, it's a fairly normal paced match, as the two men are fairly good matches for one another in both size and strength, and with the sneak attack business out of the way, it becomes an open match. Weatherfield is able to get a couple near falls, Reed kicks out. Reed reverses and gets another couple near falls, but Weatherfield kicks out. Finally, Reed is able to hit the Stealth Crusher out of nowhere, and falls on Weatherfield for the pinfall.

Final Thoughts

Reed and Weatherfield deliver on an amazing match to finish off a damned good show. I was somewhat disappointed in Faith/Blackfriar -- but I have plans with that storyline, so hopefully it'll turn out ok. Diaz claims the belt, and now I have to figure out the next step for him and Phantom. Lots of things turning -- and too many people not being used. I might have to trim the roster soon.
