This was a pretty good match, though Reed was fairly dominant throughout. He even was able to spend some time teasing a table shot, setting one up at ringside, but it was never used in this match. After Jones made a good attempt at a comeback, Reed would put him down for good with the Stealth Crusher.</p><p> </p><p>

This match wasn't bad. There was definitely a mash of styles here, and it is technically a match between two heels. Thunder made a case for a potential face turn, and played that role in this match, getting hurt by Sanchez for long stretches. He'd make the valiant come back, though, and looked to be closing in on the victory when Bowen climbed up on the ring apron. The referee and Thunder were both distracted, allowing Sanchez to recover and hit the Tantrum Side-Slam to get the pinfall.</p><p> </p><p>

He says that he knows Apocalpyse is all about their 'destined' rise to claim all the belts...but that this one, at least, is going to avoid them for a little while longer. That's when Allen steps in and they start talking about the next match tonight. Allen earned her team a rematch for the Tag Team Championship tonight, and they intend to make good on that opportunity. They've been champion before, and now, it's time to hit Apocalypse right in their noses.</p><p>

<strong>W$W Tag Team Championship Match</strong></p><p>

This was a pretty good match for the semi-main event. There was a lot of back and forth here, and everyone played their role to perfection. War and Plague dominated early, isolating McManus from his partner while Allen was chomping at the bit to get in. When McManus finally did make the hot tag, she was able to send Apocalypse reeling, forcing them to regroup outside. Some outside the ring action took place, but the referee was eventually able to reassert control and get the teams back into the ring. The faces would slowly take control with a lot of quick tags and support from the audience...but then The Revelation would make his way to ringside. He started jawing at Riley McManus, and despite his attempts to focus on the match was getting involved -just- enough to cause a distraction. That distraction turned into a double team Bubonic Plague, and while War made the cover, Revelation pulled Allen off the apron so she couldn't make the save.</p><p> </p><p>

A belt that is currently held by Ross Henry, but Henry is defending it against Apocalypse at Breaking the Bank. He says that just proves destiny is on their side. One way or another, the Openweight Championship is coming to Apocalypse...and there's nothing Henry can do to stop it.</p><p>

This match feels like it should have been better. It wasn't horrible, but everyone seemed a little sluggish, and it just didn't seem to flow the way it was supposed to. Apocalypse worked hard against Slick and Henry, with Slick taking the brunt of the punishment while Famine continued to avoid getting in the ring with Henry. After some time, Slick and Henry were able to start isolating Revelation, and it looked like they might be closing in on the victory when War Diaz returned Revelation's favor from earlier, and started getting involved in the matchup. As The Revelation started to take advantage of that fact, that drew out Riley McManus, who went right after the #1 contender for his belt. Before you could blink, all six men were brawling in the ring, and the referee had no choice but to throw out the match.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Final Thoughts</strong></p><p>

There is no doubt that this show was one of my worst of the year. It just seemed that every little issue started cropping up -- nothing big, thankfully, but nothing seemed to go quite right. I'm still blaming the location for some of the problems, but our popularity is increasing here pretty well, and we're now selling out the thousand-seat arenas. Before too long, I won't be able to use that excuse.</p><p> </p><p>

This was a good way to open the show. Bitch Slap is definitely considered more popular by most people in the business, and Jillian is trying to get into the title picture, so this was seemingly their match from the start. Showtime came out fast, though, and put the ladies on the defensive early. It took a dastardly move by Jarvis to yank Phantom's mask around so that he couldn't see to swing the tide, but it did it's job. Bitch Slap took control, and worked Phantom over while keeping him from his corner. But it seems that Phantom didn't get the script, because he kept kicking out of the pinning situations he found himself in, and was eventually able to fight off the ladies long enough to make the tag to Windham. Duane came in hot, and was able to hold off both of the ladies for long enough for Phantom to recover. Backing into the corner with Juana in his grasp, Duane let Phantom make the tag, and they hit the Show's Over on Huracan. Phantom makes the cover, and Showtime earns the victory.

Apocalypse gets their first title shot of the night as the newcomer Revelation takes on Riley McManus. Amazingly enough, this turns out to be a completely clean fight, and the two grapplers are able to put on a pretty good show. Revelation has McManus on the ropes numerous times, but McManus keeps getting out of dangerous predicaments. When Riley returns the favor, Revelation would always sneak out of the ring to regroup and recover. The ending came in a rapid-fire series of submission attempts and reversals, eventually having McManus clap on a simple but painful looking armbar that Revelation is unable to fight out of, and he taps out.

Pennyworth was cleared for competition the night before the show, so this match just squeeked on to the card. And these two teams put on a pretty damned good match for his first time back. There were plenty of back and forth moments, and a number of times that forecasted the Thunder & Lightning face turn that everyone knows is coming soon now. Bowen did some good work, distracting the referee at opportune moments while keeping Money Talks' momentum up. Thunder & Lightning actually looked like they were going to win, hitting Sanchez with the Thunderstruck, but Pennyworth had tagged himself in. As Thunder lay down on Sanchez for the pin, he never saw Pennyworth sneak up behind him, and in a split second he was trapped in the Money Clip. Lomas rushed in for the save, but Thunder was already tapping.

Tables Elimination Match

This was a brawl through and through. Pure Savagery brought chairs in to start the match, and it devolved from there. The hits were hard and brutal, and with all four men going at once, there was almost too much to look at. The Next Big Things would score first blood, having knocked Reed loopy by driving him into the announce table, they were able to double team Savage for a short time, sending him through a table together. Their celebration was short-lived, however, as Reed speared Lindland straight through another table that was set up in a corner of the ringside area.

This left Aroma and Reed as the active men, as the other two were helped to the back by W$W medics. They eyed each other up carefully, each aware of what the other could do. Then they clashed in the center of the ring, and of all things, a wrestling match broke out for a few moments. At least until a huge powerslam from Aroma caused Reed to roll to the outside. As Aroma followed him, Reed grabbed another chair, but the slam over the head of Aroma seemingly had no effect. Aroma yanked the chair out of Reed's arms, threw it behind him, lifted Reed off the ground and with a huge powerbomb, dropped him onto and through a pair of stacked tables.

Slick has answered Orton's open challenge, and there's a brief show of respect at the opening of this bout as the two tag hands before the bell rings. Once the bell rings, however, it's all business. These two men go at each other like there's some bad blood in their history despite this theoretically being their first ever match together. Slick takes early control, and starts slowing down the pace with some holds and submissions. After a few minutes of that, though, Orton rakes at the eyes behind the referee's back to take over, and he never looks back. Slick kicks out of a few pinfall attempts, and even makes a stab at a comeback, but Orton nails the Winning Palm Strike out of nowhere, and the cover becomes academic.

Hey, remember back at the IPO tournament I talked about not booking War to the final match because I wasn't sure he was ready? Well, strike that. He and Henry put on a damned fine match here. It started out with Henry not-so-shockingly taking firm control, absolutely dominating War. He even hit the Earthquake Powerslam not four minutes into the match, leveling War. But, when Henry went for the pin, War kicked out instantly, not even waiting for the ref to get into position. Henry went for a second pin attempt, but War reversed it into a rollup and Henry was forced to kick out himself. As they were getting up, War gave Henry a low-blow and turned that momentary advantage into control of the match.

Despite the underhanded tactics from War, Henry was able to forestall the victory, kicking out of numerous pinning attempts of his own, and at one point even reversing an Asian Thumb Spike into a attempted armbar that War was able to wriggle out of before tapping. As the referee checked on War, however, The Revelation slid into the ring, hitting a chop block followed up by a brainbuster on Henry, the dashing out before the referee turned around. Back in control again, War would actually hit the Asian Thumb Spike this time for the 1...2...KICKOUT!

War was absolutely stunned by the kickout, and probably missed his chance to apply more punishment to the champion, but eventually picked him up and went for the ATS again. Henry blocked it. Then he blocked it again. Then the champion went absolutely wild. He started throwing haymakers at War, driving him back into the ropes as he desperately covered up. Henry would run to the ropes and level War with a huge spear, then do it again. Finally, he picked up War, and planted him with the Earthquake Powerslam...which this time was enough for the exhausted champion to get the three.

He congratulates Henry on defending his belt, but reminds him that while he may have defeated War tonight, Famine is still waiting in the wings, and he WILL take the belt from him. He starts to walk away, then pauses. He says that he's been looking at the fine print of his called shot...and there's nothing in there that says the champion has to have advance notice. So, Famine has decided to use his called shot, and he's using it RIGHT NOW.

Henry struggles to his feet as the bell rings to start this surprise championship bout. Famine wastes no time in attacking the champion, taking him off his feet early and raining blows down upon him. Henry struggles to get up, and does eventually get some offense in, but he has obviously just been through a thirty minute war. Famine is able to just wait him out, and once he does, he puts the champion down...then hits the Leap of Faith to put the exclamation mark on his victory.

Final Thoughts

So yeah, I honestly wasn't sure if Pennyworth was going to be ready for this show or not. The timing was such that he'd be ready either the day of the show or the day after, and I wasn't sure how they were counting (did it count current day or not) because I'd never really paid attention to the specifics before. But hey, he was cleared, and that was a pretty good match.

Also, SURPRISE! I've been thinking since the first time I did the 'called shot' that I was going to have to pull this at some point. And using it as an excuse to defeat one of the most dominant competitors W$W has ever had certainly works. To recap, Henry now has three losses to his name. One, a tag team match where he didn't take the fall. Two, in a 4-on-4 elimination where he faced 3 on 1 odds. And now Three, losing a second fight in a night after having gone through a super-long match already. I like it.

One thing I don't like though are the consistent C's and C-'s. I mean...I don't hate them, but I really miss seeing the occasional B from my workers. Can't get big gains in popularity without them.

Until I open up the doc to start typing the show and realized you were absolutely correct. *applause* That means you're better at predicting my show than I am. I don't know if that's good or bad.

The bell tolls, and a spotlight raises at the top of the ramp, where Famine Faith stands with the Openweight Championship belt held high. He is joined by the other members of Apocalypse, and the quartet make their way to the ring, which is adorned with various creepy objects of celebration -- black flowers, gothic candlesticks, and the like. Famine says that what happened at Breaking the Bank was all part of his master plan. From the start, from when he earned the called shot, he knew he'd be cashing it in unexpectedly, and when War gave him the opportunity, it was too good to pass up. So once again, Apocalypse holds most of the titles in the company, and they'll claim the last one before too long. But, Faith wants the W$W fans to know that he's going to be a fighting champion, and to prove it, he's going to put the title on the line right now, against a hand picked up-and-comer.</p><p>

He is answered by the second of our debuts tonight, as indy legend Deever Arnold comes out to the ring. There are definitely a few people in the crowd who know who he is, and cheer his arrival as they see him as the savior to Orton's rehetoric. The match itself isn't bad, though it seemed to come out a little less then the sum of it's parts. Neither competitor looked poor, and there didn't seem to be a noticable lack of chemistry, but something just didn't quite work here. Arnold put up a good fight, but Orton was able to surprise him with a Winning Palm Strike in mid-air, and that was all it took for the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

We are told that this is the second match in Rich Money's small tournament to determine the tag team number one contenders. This is a pretty good matchup, with Windham struggling at times to keep up with the other three. There's plenty of back and forth, and a few moments of respect, and lots of action. The end came with a Phantom Cradle on Lomas, as Windham did a good job of keeping Thunder out of the ring. At Hostile Takeover, it will be Showtime against Money Talks!</p><p> </p><p>

This appears to be a de facto number one contenders match for the W$W Openweight Championship. Jarvis and Huracan are both a little hestiant at the beginning, both of them seemingly unwilling to fight their tag team partner. Jarvis is the first to break through that mental block, and from there the match is on. This was a pretty good bout where it appeared multiple times that either competitor had a chance to win.</p><p> </p><p>

Unfortunately, that was not to be. Ross Henry's music hit, and the man himself entered the arena, walking slowly to the ring with a microphone. He says that there must be some mistake -- his title was stolen, and here are two ladies fighting to be the one to go after it? He recommends that they leave the ring right now, or someone is going to get hurt. Looking confused and perhaps a little cautious, both Jarvis and Huracan slowly make their way up the ramp as the referee throws the match out.</p><p> </p><p>

I am such an idiot. Henry was supposed to have his own interview angle to end the show, and I *completely* missed it. There's another angle I wanted to put in that I forgot (though that one can easily be put in another show). But having the main event end with distractions but no promo just feels wrong, so I kinda slid it into the match. I wonder how the show would have ended up otherwise. Probably similar. </p><p> </p><p>

Also, Kenneth Caine is a Liberty/James Justice regen (if that isn't obvious). His generated name is Kenneth Savage, but I wasn't going to have another savage, and I liked the alliteration.</p><p> </p><p>

At that point, Pennyworth would draw the referee's attention, and Bowen would try to use a can of mace on Duane Windham...but he would duck, and the mace went straight into Sanchez's face. Phantom entered the ring long enough to help Windham hit the Show's Over, then took Pennyworth straight out of the ring with him as Windham made the cover for the 1, 2, 3.

A pretty good match that saw everyone get some offense in and play to their strengths. Aroma tossed Thunder and Lightning around the ring like they were nothing, while Lindland combined strength and technique. For their part, Lomas and Thunder were using stick and move tactics, and for a long time, neither side seemed to be able to get much of an advantage. Aroma would be the first to find one, as he managed a nice double suplex, nailing both of his opponents with it at the same time. From that point on, TNBT were able to cut the ring in half, and basically worked on Thunder exclusively, not letting him tag. Surprisingly, there wasn't a recovery for the former champs, as Lindland would hit the Phantom Driver, Aroma would take out Lomas, and Thunder would stare at the lights for 3.

SWERVE! There's an obvious result to this match, but it's not the one we went with. This is a pretty good match, and though there's some tension that builds when Slick goes for a cover early, he and Henry talk it over outside, and from then on, Slick never goes for a pinfall. This does hurt the face team some, as Bitch Slap had apparently decided that they were ok with either one of them getting the shot, and were working seamlessly as a team. They manage to isolate Henry, and work him over for quite a long time, but the former Openweight Champ just will not stay down no matter what they do. Still, as time goes on, he starts to seem a little desperate for a tag, and he finally finds his opportunity after hitting a spear on Jarvis out of nowhere. He tags in Slick, who cleans house, laying out both members of Bitch Slap, finally hitting the Slick Back first on Juana, then on Jillian. He looks like he's going to go for the pin, but he stops himself. He throws Huracan out of the ring, the hits another Slick Back on Jarvis...and tags in Henry. Henry gets in, hits an Earthquake Powerslam of his own, and makes the cover as Slick cheers him on.

Final Thoughts

First things first, apologies for the long delay. I managed to concuss myself last weekend, and up until today was still feeling symptoms relatively early, so was staying away from screens outside of work. That kind of prevented me from writing up a show.

Secondly...a B- angle. Oh yeah. THAT's why you bring in guys like Money. I'm just hoping he's mine for the duration.

Finally...I really did consider going with the swerve of having Slick get the duke on that main event, but the timing of the stories I want to tell just didn't allow it. So, we have Faith/Henry again at House Money...and this time, Henry is prepared. *dun dun dunnnnn*

Apocalypse has their first match of the night here, but surprisingly, Revelation comes out to the ring alone. From the bell, Slick seems to be in control of the match, manhandling Revelation at will. That lasts up until he hits the Slick-Back, at which point Plague Ryland rushes the ring. He gets up on the apron and starts jawing at Slick, drawing his attention as well as that of the referee. While the ref's back is turned, War Diaz slides in on the other side of the ring, wakes up Revelation, and then grabs Slick and hits the Asian Thumb Spike. Diaz is out of the ring and out of sight by the time the referee gets Plague to back off, and when he turns around, Revelation has Slick trapped in the Blueprint. He fights it, nearly getting to the ropes, but he's unable to withstand the hold for any longer, and taps out.

Before their entrances, both members of Apocalypse have made it to the entrance, so the referee of the previous match has no cause for alarm. This match starts out fast and furious, as the challengers really pick up the pace in an effort to wear down Apocalypse. They even managed to isolate Plague for a while, but eventually, Windham made a mistake, and Plague was able to tag in War. War used his size to great effect, at one point even managing to lift both members of Showtime above his head at the same time -- it was only a split second, but the showcase of strength was quite brilliant. As the match went on, Apocalypse was able to slow down the pace, and used rapid tags to keep the challengers off their game. Eventually, a pair of Bubonic Bombs took out the challengers, and War made an academic tag on Windham to earn the victory.

This apparent grudge match actually has the crowd buzzing a bit, and it's quickly apparent that these two men work well together. They seem to know each other's moves even before they're attempted, and for a good five minutes, the match works out as counter after counter. Caine gets the upper hand first, finally managing to break through Orton's defenses and hit a flurry of offense culminating in a snap german suplex. Orton rolls to the outside before Caine can follow up on that. And then, even though he fakes getting back in the ring a couple times, he eventually just lets the ten-count expire, the last two seconds of which he spends backing up the ramp with smirk on his face.

Henry gets his shot to reclaim his belt, and he comes out looking like he's going to make the most of it. He starts out strong, and is looking pretty good before Famine hits an eye rake that really stunts his momentum. After that, Famine seems to be in control, taking Henry down methodically before hitting the Leap of Faith. He goes for the cover, but Henry isn't through yet, kicking out, amazingly, at a one-count. Famine tries for it again, but Henry gets out of the way of the Leap, and both men are down. They get back to their feet at the same time, and start trading blows in the center of the ring. Henry gets the advantage here, and a series of hard punches to the face followed by a huge lariat send Famine outside of the ring. As Henry works the crowd a bit, Famine reaches under the ring and grabs a steel chair...and as Henry finally comes over to drag him back into the ring, Famine nails him with it right on the top of the head. Henry goes down in a heap, but the bell rings instantly as the referee disqualifies Famine. That doesn't stop the leader of Apocalypse, though, as he nails Henry a few more times with the chair for good measure before standing tall, the chair in one hand, and the belt in his other.

He never let a pinfall or submission attempt go unchallenged, and when Sanchez managed to send both himself and Lindland over the top rope together, Money would get involved directly, taking out Aroma while the ref's back was turned. Pennyworth would take instant advantage, getting the big man up and turned over into the Money Clip, and when the ref turned back around, Aroma was wildly tapping out.

He talks about what happened at House Money, how he technically won his Openweight Championship match, but due to champions advantage, Famine Faith remains the champion. Henry says that just can't stand, and he's here to say that he'll be meeting Famine once more at The Closing Bell.

Money apparently decides he has to step in here, because he grabs a microphone before he actually leaves the ringside area. He interrupts Henry and says that the former champ is awfully bold just saying that he's going to be in that match. Money says that it may very well be that Henry remains the top contender, but he's going to have to prove it first. Next week, at Hostile Takeover, Henry will be in a match. If he can win it, then he can take on Famine. If he loses, then he's out, and Money will find another challenger. Henry says that next week, Henry will have to defeat...The Revelation!

Henry tells him to bring it on, and that he looks forward to destroying another member of Apocalypse. Money says that he's not through. Because if Henry is able to defeat The Revelation, then he's going to have another match. This time, he'll have to defeat Plague Ryland to earn himself a shot at the champion. Henry agrees to that stipulation as well. Then, Money says that if we're putting Henry through two matches, we may as well make it a full on gauntlet match -- if he can get through The Revelation and Plague Ryland, he'll have to take on War Diaz as well. And ONLY if Henry can win all three of those matches does he get another shot at the Openweight Championship.

Henry falls silent after this for a long moment before finally saying that he accepts the challenge. He'll go through every member of Apocalypse one by one since he has to -- nothing will stand between him and that belt.

The main event this evening is a rematch from House Money. Like at House Money, these two put on a pretty good show...and like at House Money, Orton tried to leave the arena part way through. This time, Caine would have nothing of it, following him out and continuing the attack outside of the arena. And this is where there was apparently a miscommunication; I thought I had indicated that this match was supposed to be a double count-out, with both men duking it out outside of the ring. Apparently that got forgotten in the excitement, and Caine kept rolling back in to break the count. Eventually, the referee just got exasperated with that and stopped counting altogether, cajoling both men to come back to the ring.

They eventually did make it back in, vicious blows being laid out by both men. Caine would eventually earn the first fall in the series (against my wishes), nailing Orton with the Lion Knee and getting the three count.

Blue Chip #1 Contenders Match

Hostile Takeover starts out this month with an announced number one contender's fatal four-way match. None of the competitors in this match have ever held singles gold in W$W, so this is a huge chance for all four of them. The match starts out with all four feeling each other out before Marcel starts the action by lunging at Hellcat. This leaves Windham and Silencer to square off against one another. It doesn't take long before Hellcat and Windham are out of the ring, and the usual rotation begins. Each competitor gets their own shot at shining, and for the most part this is a pretty even match. It is clear throughout the match that LeFleur is the best competitor in the match, and he is just starting to roll when Hellcat pulls him off of a cover and out of the ring. The two of them start brawling outside of the ring, using all manner of weapons and tactics. This leaves Windham and Silencer in the ring, and Silencer is able to hit the Drop Zone, which is enough to get him the victory as Hellcat and LeFleur continue their fight right out of the arena.

Let's be honest about this -- this was a squash. Despite Shadrach's size and look, Famine was in control from bell to bell, easily wearing down the bigger man until he could hit the Leap of Faith for the victory. That said, Shadrach came out of this looking pretty good, and this match may bode well for his future.

This match may have gone on a little too long, but it was pretty good nonetheless, as these two showcased some great chemistry and just looked good in the ring together. The clash of styles worked pretty well, and they just seemed to get each other. Deever's early shortcuts gave him an advantage early, and he used it to good effect, and seemed ready to get the victory before Money put Pennyworth's leg on the ropes and called the referee's attention to it. That seemed to be enough to kickstart Pennyworth's momentum, and he managed to ground Arnold and start working on his shoulders and neck, eventually locking on the Money Clip for the victory.

This maybe should have been a squash, but Phoenix was definitely able to get some offense in as the match continued. Both Caine and Phoenix looked pretty good, but Caine was slowly gaining an advantage. He seemed ready to go for the victory when Shawn Orton slid in the ring behind him and starting attacking him, leading to a disqualification victory for Caine. Caine was able to get his feet back under him and toss Orton out of the ring shortly after the bell, leaving the two staring each other down.

Gauntlet Match 1

Henry's gauntlet to earn himself another title shot starts here with The Revelation. The MAW stalwart comes out strong, and it looks like Henry may be going down early for a bit as he even manages to lock on the Blueprint for a short time. But as soon as Henry gets to the ropes, he manages to psych himself up, and from there, all the offense comes from him. He tosses The Revelation around the ring time and again, hitting spears and powerbombs at will, and finally finishes it off with the Earthquake Powerslam.

Gauntlet Match 2

Henry doesn't even get much of a chance to rest as Plague is rushing the ring even before the bell rings. He slides in and starts throwing blows immediately, forcing Henry to cover up as he tries to get back to his feet. Because of this, Plague does even better against Henry than The Revelation did, and slowly works over the former champion...until Ross Henry comes alive again. Henry hits a violent looking spear out of nowhere that sends Plague to the outside. As the referee starts counting out Plague, War Diaz and Famine Faith come out of the crowd on the other side of the ring and climb in. Famine climbs the turnbuckle and lands a picture-perfect Leap of Faith, rolling out of the ring to make way for War. War hits the Asian Thumb Spike, but the referee had turned at the sound of impact from the Leap of Faith, and caught the assault. He immediately called for the disqualification, and started trying to restore order.

Gauntlet Match 3

War chomps at the bit waiting for the referee to ring the bell, but he spent a good amount of time checking to make sure Henry was ok to continue. When the bell finally rang, these two collided like a pair of titans. There was no subtlety about this match -- just two men throwing their hardest hits at one another. Henry would come out on top first, hitting an Earthquake Powerslam just a few minutes into the match, but Famine Faith would climb on the ring apron before he could make the cover, and that provided just enough of a distraction to allow War to roll out of the ring to compose himself. The fight after that was more of the same, only when Henry hit the Powerlsam for the second time, he ignore Famine and went for the cover, getting the 1-2-3 and earning himself an Openweight Championship match.

Final Thoughts

I was disappointed by the final two matches -- and those disappointments carried through to the full show. Still, if a showing this (relatively) poor had to happen, at least it was in the Mid Atlantic where my popularity is still trying to grow, so it didn't hurt as badly. I think Henry just fatigued himself in that first match, and it carried through to the other two.

One hell of a kickoff to the biggest show of the year here in W$W. All four men came out of this match looking like a million bucks, with plenty of offense on all sides, and a good clean match to boot. Thunder & Lightning came oh-so-close to pinning the champs on multiple occasions, but could never finish off the job. War took out Lomas with the double team Bubonic Bomb; Plague would spear Thunder out of the ring to prevent the breakup, and the champs retain in a great match.

A decent match designed to showcase a couple of rising teams...different levels, but both still theoretically rising. TNBT shone in this matchup, with Aroma in particular looking like he might be ready to make the leap to the next level. This match featured plenty of momentum shifts, but TNBT would slowly gain control, and dominated the last three minutes of the matchup after absolutely brutalizing Jose with a doubleteam and forcing the Caballeros to basically fight a man down. It was academic after that, and Lindland would take out Marcos with the Phantom Driver for the three.

This was a decent match, but from the product side of things, let's make no bones about it -- McManus pulled Silencer to a decent match here. There was plenty of action, with Silencer overpowering McManus early, only for the champ to slowly work his way back into the match. And just as it appeared that he was ready to defend his title, he turned right into a Drop Zone. McManus kicked out of the first one, but was obviously dazed, and a second Drop Zone was enough to earn Silencer his first championship in W$W.

Hellcat joins LeFleur in the ring, and their distaste for one another is palpable. This was a good match (though I'll admit I was hoping for better) that saw plenty of back and forth. Hellcat looked like she was going to pull out the victory when she stole LeFleur's finisher...but he obviously had studied that move from every side and slid out of it after a long but painful looking moment...and reversed it into a Parisian Chickenwing of his own. Hernandez tried her best to get out of it, going for the ring break, but LeFleur pulled her back into the middle of the ring before cinching in the hold even harder, and Hernandez had no choice but to tap out.

And tonight...Money has been drilling Pennyworth, and Slick doesn't stand a chance.

Despite Money's proclamation, Pennyworth doesn't look terribly prepared for this fight, and Slick starts out fast and furious. It looks like he's going to take down the boss's project in short order, and even manages to hit a Slick Back after about five minutes. Before he can go for the cover, though, Money pulls Pennyworth out of the ring, and gives him a pep talk. Once he's recovered, he rolls back in, and the match is back on. From that point forward, Pennyworth does better, but he still has a long way to go to blunt Slick's momentum. He manages to do so, though, winning a confrontation of trading blows with a surprise superkick. That shifts the momentum his way, and though Slick tried to recover, Pennyworth would lock him into the Money Clip in the center of the ring, and the pressure on Slick's neck was too much for him.

Cage Match

This match was every bit as brutal as it promised to be, and both men went for broke. The cage was used as a weapon early and often, and well before the end of the match, both had been been cut and were bleeding. There were a couple of escape attempts that were cut off, from both men, but most of the action confined itself to brutal blows within the ring itself. By the eight minute mark, it was obvious that both competitors were starting to tire, and both made critical mistakes that prevented victory. It would be Caine who capitalized on one of these mistakes first; after Orton charged and went head first into the cage, Caine would nail the Lion Knee on the reeling Orton. With both men down after the maneuver, Caine would crawl over and just make the cover, a single arm covering Orton. That would be enough, however, as the ref's hand would come down three times without Orton kicking out.

Our main event of the evening is a wild brawl. Neither man is willing to back off an inch, and the match looks beautful for it. Famine starts out in control when he uses a thumb to the eye of Henry to soften up the challenger, following it up with a vicious looking cutter. He would revel in his control, playing with his opponent and making foolish decisions. The momentum shifted suddenly when Famine would go for the Leap of Faith...only for Henry to catch him and toss him out of the ring. With Henry in control, he started slowing down the pace, trying to work on Famine's legs to prevent future Leap attempts, keep him from climbing the turnbuckle. The action would spill outside where Famine would reverse fortunes again, using the ring steps and the announce table to assault Henry. Famine would climb back into the ring, content with a countout victory, but it was not to be, as Henry dove in just in front of the count. An enraged Famine would start laying the boots on, but Henry would get to his feet and the two started trading blows, an exchange in which Henry came out on top before collapsing into the corner and trying to shake out the cobwebs. Both men would get back to their feet at the same time, and a few whips and lariat attempts later the brawl was back on. Famine would again start to come out on top, and managed to drop Henry to the mat again with a powerbomb. Famine would climb up the rope for the Leap of Faith to put the match away, and Henry caught him again! This time, Henry shook his head at the champ, adjusted his hold, and absolutely planted Famine with the Earthquake Powerslam. Grabbing the legs for the cover, Henry earned the 1, 2, 3, and celebrated the return of his belt.

Final Thoughts

So, that ends the Famine Faith/Ross Henry storyline. It didn't feel right to me to have it end with a Famine victory, so Ross gets the title back. Now to figure out who the next challenger will be.

Silencer gets the title in an upset here -- he's starting to age out, and he's put on a good little career mostly as a jobber for us, so I wanted to give him a reward. Not sure how long he'll hold it; it probably won't be too long.

This was a pretty good show, I think. The tag match definitely surprised; I thought it would be pretty good, but I wasn't expecting that. I'm thinking Thunder & Lightning and TNBT are both in line for some singles pushes; both Aroma and Lomas pulled out B level performances tonight.

And as this is the 'season finale' show, and I've caught up to what I've simmed, it's time to make some storyline plans moving forward. Pretty much every storyline I had technically ended here, though I *might* be able to keep going with Orton/Caine; it's been short even though they have had three matches already. We'll see. Any storylines you guys want to see?

He says that it feels good to prove himself right, to prove that he has what it takes to take on his demons and come out on top. And now he is a two-time champion to show for it. He is quickly interrupted by Famine Faith, who stalks to the ring and gets right in Henry's face. He says that Henry better enjoy holding the title while he has it, because Famine and Apocalypse is coming for it. Henry raises his microphone to respond when Rich Money's music plays and the boss comes out. He says he has to apologize to Famine, but the contract signed for that match included a clause at Famine's inistence -- there will be no rematch. In fact, Money is going to expand that to all of Apocalypse. They had their shot, and as long as Henry is champion, Apocalypse is out of the Openweight title picture. But that's ok, because he has someone in mind to take that shot. He is interrupted by Cali Slick. Slick walks right up to the Money and says that he's got a good idea of who Money is talking about, but Slick thinks that he hasn't earned his way back to the top of the card yet. Slick is going to have to be the gatekeeper here, and prevent the unworthy from taking a shot they don't deserve. Money thinks about it for a moment, and says that he's ok with their proving themselves...and tonight, we will see Slick and Henry team up to face Money Talks; if his boys can win, then Pennyworth gets a title shot.</p><p>

The brutal hits go back and forth before Silencer's experience starts to give him and edge, and he uses that to hit the Drop Zone and get the pinfall in a quick and brutal fight.</p><p> </p><p>

A fun match that saw Perez get more offense than might be expected; Reed seemed to have a little trouble with Perez's high flying style. Once he was able to ground him, though, he quickly took control, and was able to hit the Stealth Crusher for the easy win.</p><p> </p><p>

Turns out that she doesn't have much to work with at all, though McManus and Allen are able to carry this match to a very watchable state. It also turns out that Kipp and Bowen don't really get each other's styles on the other sides of the ropes and it was painfully awkward to watch. Allen and McManus work well together, quick tags allowing them to quickly wear down their opponents, and a Northern Lights Suplex finishes off Kipp in short order.</p><p> </p><p>

This match is identified as a number one contenders match as the competitors are introduced. From the outset, it is a pretty one sided match. While both teams have some good teamwork, The Next Big Things outweigh the Caballeros by almost 300 pounds combined, and their strength and size overmatch the Caballeros pretty easily. The young luchadores do try to make it a match, taking to the skies and working together to get one or the other of TNBT off their feet, but it seems obvious that theirs will be a losing effort.</p><p> </p><p>

And that's when Bitch Slap rushed the ring. Juana pulled Marcos off the ring apron and gave him a tremendous DDT on the entrance ramp while Jillian laid out Jose in the middle of the ring. Mike Aroma, the legal man for the other team, could only stare in disbelief at the smirking Jarvis as the referee called for the bell, awarding the match to the Caballeros.</p><p> </p><p>

This proves to be a very fun match to watch. Both men are fairly light on their feet, and while Arnold showcases the American style, LeFleur definitely brings the hard-hitting shots from Japan to his game. They appear to be evenly matched for quite some time, neither man getting much of an advantage, until The Silencer quietly makes his way to ringside. This draws LeFleur's attention, and he starts jawing at Silencer. This proves to be the only advantage that Arnold needed, as he hits a huge cutter, and follows it up with a Cannonball Senton to earn himself a much-needed victory.</p><p> </p><p>

This match did do a good job of showing how far both Sanchez and Pennyworth have come. Sanchez was a little slow and not as good in the ring, but Pennyworth definitely held his own and came out looking pretty good in this matchup. With Money's assistance on the side, Money Talks was able to do a good job at isolating Slick for large portions of the match, effectively cutting the ring in half, and at one point even had him locked in the Money Clip. Sadly for Money Talks, this was a little too close to the ropes, and he managed to get a single finger on it, which was enough for the referee to call for the break. Infuriated, both Pennyworth and Money started arguing with the ref, but that let Slick recover and make the tag. Henry came in on fire, having been completely out of the match to this point, and absolutely took over. He knocked Money off the ring apron, tossed Pennyworth around the ring, and then caught the rushing Sanchez with an Earthquake Powerslam. He covered Sanchez (who to the announcer's dismay was not the legal man) and actually got the decision from that, again infurating all members of the heel faction. Despite their arguments, the referee stood by his decision, and raised Henry and Slick's arms in victory.</p><p> </p><p>

The numbers game is overwhelming the Caballeros, but they get new life when Cameron Jones comes flying into the fray, driving The Revelation directly into a cement wall. With one man down and the numbers even, Apocalypse slowly backs away from the conflict as hostile words fly back and forth.

A decent match between these two teams; Showtime is really starting to gel as a team, and they more than held their own here. The flow was fairly typical to start, with Bitch Slap isolating Phantom and keeping the ring cut in half, then Windham getting the hot tag eventually...but rather than clearing house, Bitch Slap had apparently been baiting him in, and quickly turned the isolation on him. Showtime did make a good recovery at one point, but the damage had already been done, and Jarvis would down Windham with the Tornado Elbow Smash for hte pinfall.

Looking at each other with a shrug, the two ladies joined in on the attack, and Showtime was slowly being beaten down with a 4-on-2 numbers disadvantage. That's when the crowd roared as Aroma and Lindland, The Next Big Things, rushed the ring. They cleared house, sending all four heels scurrying up the ramp.

Two makeshift tag teams here. LeFleur has obviously had a history with the Hellcat, and lately she and Duran have been getting into it as well. Likewise, with LeFleur's challenge for The Silencer's Blue Chip Championship, there's lots of story to tell in this match. And tell the story they did, as each combination of foes got a chance to showcase their enmity throughout the course of the fight. Though LeFleur seemed to carry the pace of the match, everyone was able to contribute and this came out to be a fairly enjoyable match. In the end, nothing current was resolved as LeFleur would catch Hellcat in the Parisian Chickenwing -- and Silencer would just watch from the ring apron as she tapped out.

And he says that Famine better watch his back, because Lighting is coming to take some revenge.

As a preview match, this probably could have gone better from Lomas' standpoint. Thunder got some offense in, to be sure, but by the four or five minute mark the powerful War had taken over. And when Thunder started to take control, Famine Faith slid into the ring (nobody was quite sure where he came from) and attacked Thunder behind Denver Austin's back. Lomas returned the favor when Austin had been temporarily knocked out, combining in a double team on War with his tag team partner that brought Famine back into the ring. Austin would wake up in the two on two showdown, and eject both Famine and Lomas, regaining control. It would be all War after that, however, and he would hit the Asian Thumb-Spike for the victory.

This match was to determine who would face off against Ross Henry for the Openweight Championship at Paying Dividends. With Money forced to keep Pennyworth out of contention for the time being, two top W$W competitors who had never been in the title picture were chosen. This was a pretty brutal match, with neither man holding back trying to earn a shot at the company's top prize. About nine minutes in, Savage was dumped over the rings into a pile of chairs that were inconveniently close to the ring area, and the referee went out to check on his health. While that happened, Shawn Orton darted to the ring and laid out Caine with a single move, then ran back up the ramp. Savage saw the attack, but the referee didn't, and Savage forced himself to his feet and back into the ring. Increasing his brutality, Savage would start throwing haymakers that Caine just couldn't defend against, and eventually the big man nailed the Locked Hate Demolisher on his opponent, somewhat earning the victory.

Final Thoughts

I've had better shows, but I'm ok with this. Our stock in the Mid Atlantic continues to rise. I don't know what it is about Money though. Sometimes his angles blow up, and I get in the Bs. And sometimes, like today, it just doesn't. I think I have to blame it on his co-anglees, but it just doesn't seem like that would be doing enough to reduce it from a B to a D- like in his angle today. Ah well.

Revelation had some rage and anger to deal with, and moved away from his usual technical style and more into a brawl for the match, going for the hard and sudden hits. Jones had obviously prepared for the technician, however, and was off his game for the entire fight. By the time Revelation calmed down and got back into his usual methods, Jones was already loopy, and it didn't take much for Revelation to lock on The Blueprint for the victory.

A pretty decent match with lots of hard-hitting action. There's a bit of a clash of styles as Silencer is more brawling and LeFleur is more technical while still hitting hard. Over the course of the match, it appears that LeFleur is slowly using his technical prowess to start wearing down the champion, eventually locking on the Parisian Chickenwing. Silencer screams in pain, but is able to slowly drag himself to the ropes, and as LeFleur breaks the hold at the referee's behest, Silencer falls to the outside. He utilizes much of the ten count to recover, rolling in at 9, and right back out again. He looks like he's going to do it a second time, but LeFleur grabs him before he can roll back out and tries to drag him into the middle of the ring. Silencer, however, seems to have been playing possum, and he lays out LeFleur with a vicious clothesline, and the goes for the cover. As the referee gets in position for the count, Silencer puts his feet on the second rope, providing a little more leverage for the cover, and that's enough to get the three count.

Great wrestling was the name of the game here. All four competitors just looked really good in this match, and there was plenty of back and forth action. McManus & Allen started out in control, working over Sanchez pretty well for quite some time. Pennyworth and Money wouldn't allow even a one count out of it, but it was obvious both men were getting frustrated. Money paid dividends (see what I did there?) by grabbing McManus' ankle at the perfect time, tripping him up just long enough for Sanchez to make the tag to Pennyworth. From there, Money Talks took the momentum, keeping McManus from making the tag as they easily cut the ring in half. They were able to get a couple of near falls, but weren't quite able to put McManus away, as his heart kept forcing him to kick out.

A desperation brainbuster out of nowhere gave McManus a breath while Sanchez was in the ring. Both McManus and Sanchez tagged in their opponents at the same time, rushing into the ring to collide with each other. A fast and furious exchange of holds and submission attempts followed as the two technicians attempted to outgrapple the other.

Once again, it would be Money that would prove to be the difference maker. As Sanchez distracted the referee, recovered earlier than McManus, Money would slide into the ring and surprise Allen with a DDT before rolling back out of the ring. Pennyworth would take instant advantage, locking her into the Money Clip, and she was forced to tap out.

This match surprised. Despite winning the #1 contendership, the Caballeros were seen as the massive underdogs coming into the fight, particularly with HOW they won the slot. Perhaps that underdog mentality gave them a bit of an edge here, because they took the fight to the champions, and had the early advantage. They isolated Plague, using quick tags and double teaming to wear him down. That said, they were never able to get him pinned for longer than a one count, and eventually the sheer strength he possessed came into play, as he kicked out of a pinfall attempt by literally tossing Marcos up and out of the ring. He calmly stood up and made the tag to War, and from there all the offense came from the champions. They methodically worked the legs and bodies of the challengers, and when they combined to nail Jose with the Bubonic Bomb, that was all she wrote.

Following that up, they continue to rain blows down upon the Caballeros. Finally, they are convinced to leave them alone, and stalk out of the arena, holding the tag championship belts high with smiles on their faces as they do.

This was a fun match to watch, as the two teams worked pretty well with each other. There's obvious bad blood between them, and the hatred boils over to a number of outside the ring extracurriculars. Eventually, though, with the action back in the ring, Aroma takes out Huracan with the Cracked Facebreaker. Lindland ties up Jarvis, and the ref counts the three.

The crowd loved this match, and the two competitors took full advantage of the rules to fight out in the arena. Trash cans, tables, chairs, and one fan's tray of nachos were all used as weapons as they wandered throughout. The eventually found their way into the locker rooms, where the other wrestlers were present and watching. Orton would drive Caine into one of the benches bolted into the floor, a painful looking hit that left Caine grabbing at his back. Orton followed that up by nailing Caine with a chair, then picking him up and leveling him once more with the Winning Palm Strike. Making the cover on the cement floor, Orton gets the win for the first time in this series.

Lomas and Faith just seemed to flow into each other's moves here, and it made for a beautiful looking fight. Faith came out supremely confident, and for a while it looked like he was correct in that belief, but nothing he did could put Lomas away. As Lomas started to gain momentum and hitting offensive moves of his own, the disbelief on Famine's face became palpable, and the fury grew. Lomas would hit Thunder Struck on Famine, and that would be the straw the broke the camel's back. Famine would roll out of the ring to regroup before Lomas could make the cover, and just went into a rage on the outside of the ring. When he rolled back in, he had a steel chair, and despite the referee's warnings, he laid into Lomas without mercy. The bell would immediately ring, calling the bout for Lomas, but Famine wouldn't stop until Lomas was unmoving in a fetal position, the chair warped almost beyond recognition.

Another good match to close out the action for the night. Savage and Henry left nothing behind, throwing haymakers and spears with abandon, a beautiful, painful looking bout. There was plenty of back and forth action, with neither man earning an advantage for long. Henry would hit an Earthquake Powerslam out of nowhere, but surprisingly, Savage got right back to his feet afterwards, telling Henry to bring it. Henry seems stunned, but only for a moment, and the brawl is right back on.

Things would break down a few minutes later when the action spilled outside the ring. The men were trading blows outside the ring when Shawn Orton would rush down to the ringside, laying into both competitors. The bell would ring instantly asthe referee throws out the match.

This gives Henry and Savage enough respite that they are able to get back up and into the brawl. The four-way confrontation continues as the announcers talk us out of the show.

Lightning Lomas doesn't look too worse for wear after his beatdown from Famine at Paying Dividends, and he gets a shot for a modicum of revenge here by taking on his stablemates in non-title action. This match is a pretty good clinic on tag team wrestling, with plenty of teamwork and rapid tags from both sides. Thunder & Lightning start to take control around the five or six minute mark, managing to isolate Plague from his corner, cutting the ring in half and slowly working him down. They appear to be on their way to a victory when a brief distraction from War allows Famine Faith to climb the turnbuckle unseen and lay out Lomas with a Leap of Faith. That gives Plague the opening he needs to make the tag, and Apocalypse carries the rest of the match. They team up on a Bubonic Bomb on Lomas, with War claiming the pinfall victory.

Final Thoughts

It's true. Huracan is gone. She was one of my longest lasting veterans, but she wanted a pretty large pay raise, and for a worker who is probably due to retire in the next few years, I just couldn't bring myself to give it to her. She's still open to negotiations, so that may change at some point, but for now, she's one victim of a "we have way too many people on the roster" culling.

The show itself was pretty good. Nothing exceptional coming out of it, but it worked pretty well, and continued the storylines for the New England crowd. I'm still trying to get back into these storylines, so hopefully things will start getting better soon.

The first step in her challenge to TNBT, Jarvis takes on Lindland in a singles match here. Aroma is at ringside, but it seems that he is just there to guard against any tricky play by Jarvis, as he remains on the outside shouting encouragement to his partner. This is a pretty good match with plenty of momentum shifts and lots of hard hitting action. Lindland appears to be setting up for one final move when he walks straight into a Tornado Elbow Smash to the temple, collapsing to the ground in a heap. Jarvis makes the cover and picks up the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

Arnold claims that Slicks win was a fluke, and says that if they faced off again, Arnold would be the one coming out on top. Slick tells him to prove it, next week.</p><p>

Ross Henry joins the commentators at the booth for this match, and it makes for some interesting back and forth as he gives his opinions on each of the competitors in the match. The match itself is pretty good. It starts out with Savage taking the better part of valor and letting Caine and Orton fight it out amongst themselves for some time while he just watched with a smile on his face. After some time, however, they seemed to remember that they were once a tag team together, and turned to take on Savage in a team. Of course, in a match like this, that was just a temporary truce, but once Savage was in the fray, the three-way match went into full gear.</p><p> </p><p>

Each man got his moment to shine, laying out the others in glorious fashion, but being unable to score pinfalls before the other man broke it up. There were plenty of two-counts that were just barely stopped by another man leaping in from outside. The ending came when Caine and Orton were in the ring together, Savage on the outside. Orton was setting up for a Winning Palm Strike, when suddenly Roger Reed slid into the ring. He laid out Caine quickly and turned his attention to Orton, dropping him in a similar quick fashion. Despite the referee's admonishments, he slid out of the ring and brough Savage back in, slapping some sense into him. The big man woke up, saw what his tag team partner had accomplished, and shook his hand. Picking up Caine (as Orton has rolled to the ground), Savage planted him with a Locked Hate Demolisher, and scored the three.</p><p> </p><p>

The show opens with the bell tolling, and all four members of Apocalypse making their way to the ring. They talk about the W$W Tag Team Championships and all the teams in this company they've defeated -- they talk about Showtime, and the Caballeros, and Thunder & Lightning, and McManus & Allen quickly, saying they've defeated them all. And every other team in this company is either busy or doesn't matter. So, they've talked amongst themselves, and decided that first off, they are rejecting the Caballero's challenge. Been there done that. Secondly, there is only one team in this company worthy of challenging Apocalypse for the titles...and that is Apocalypse. So, War and Plague are going to give a title shot to Famine and Revelation. They are interrupted by a voice saying that they may not be seeing eye to eye lately, but there's one team in W$W that Apocalypse hasn't defeated...

Tag Team #1 Contenders Match

As the team of Caine and Orton make their way to the ring, the announcers put over the fact that this impromptu match has been declared an official number one contenders match. More so, they talk about Caine and Orton's heated rivalry as of late, and wonder if they can put their animosity aside for long enough to even win the chance at a title shot, let alone with the belts.

The match itself was pretty damned good. With War and Plague at ringside, Caine and Orton had to have eyes in the back of their heads, but the champs still made the presence felt on numerous occasions. From the lowly foot grab to a full on Bubonic Bomb, all four members of Apocalypse were in fine form here tonight, while Orton and Caine (who have teamed as No Remorse elsewhere) definitely seemed to have lost the tag team mojo, and were very uncomfortable with each other. It looked like the tag champs were going to have an easy go of their next title defense.

That's when Lightning Lomas appeared out of the crowd. He flat out leveled Famine Faith at ringside, then sent him into the timekeepers area and out of the match completely, escaping back into the crowd before the referee could spot him. Caine took full advantage of the distraction and speared Revelation out of his boots, earning the three count for his team.

I watched this match, amazed at the painful lack of chemistry displayed between Kipp and Bowen. I had Bowen release Alvarez earlier because of lack of chemistry...but hadn't seen the note for Kipp. Then I looked back at my old notes, and realized the chemistry note that had caught me was bad chemistry between Alvarez and Shooting Star Perez. So this story is all out of whack, and I'm scrapping it. It's just going to disappear. That said, Kipp and Hernandez had an almost watchable match, Kipp getting the pinfall after Bowen got involved.

This was a really good match to followup from last months first title match between the two. They played off the storylines built up in the last one, with Silencer taking a lot of shortcuts to try to retain his belt, but LeFleur was ready for them this time. Attempt one was a grabbing of the tights, but LeFleur rolled through to avoid the cover. The second attempt was a low blow that LeFleur caught before it could land. The third attempt was a pinfall with leverage...but LeFleur turned it into a Parisian Chickenwing, pulling the champion away from the ropes in the process. It wasn't long before Silencer tapped his title away.

Let me put this match into perspective by saying the Sanchez performed pretty well here...and he was the weak link. Allen, McManus, and Pennyworth all put on damned fine performances here and the crowd was behind them the whole way. This was tag team wrestling as it was meant to be, with neither team really getting an advantage for long stretches of the bout, and plenty of hard hitting action taking both legal participants out at the same time. The ending came after the action had spilled outside for a while, and Sanchez had sent Allen into the ring steps. The legal men, Pennyworth and McManus, were back in the ring, where Pennyworth caught McManus in the Money Clip. McManus tapped, and Money Talks had a clean victory in what may be the match of the year so far.

Aroma walked out to ringside with his partner Lindland, but once the bell rang, he was all alone in the ring with Jarvis as Lindland went to the back. This was a good clean fight, Jarvis' speed and deceptive strength against Aroma's overwhelming size and power. Aroma looked to edn it early with a huge powerbomb, but Jarvis rolled to the outside before he could make the cover. A bit of chicken occurred after that, with both competitors trying to lure the other to where they could get their hands on them. Jarvis would come out on top of that exchange, and a few moments later, the Tornado Elbow Smash took out Aroma, and giving Jarvis wins against both members of The Next Big Things.

This was a very solid main event. Two big men pounding on each other, laying haymaker after haymaker, bruising slam after bruising slam. Plenty of fun spots, despite the big size of the men, and lots of action outside the ring. Steel steps were used, turnbuckles were run into, and both men ended up sporting bits of color by the end.

The ending, however, was a bit unfortunate. Henry looked to be closing in on a victory with Savage reeling. The four members of Apocalypse made their way to ringside, coming out of the crowd. Plague Ryland climbed up on the ring apron on one side to draw the referee's attention, on the other side, War Diaz speared Henry, and Famine went for the Leap of Faith. Apocalypse wasn't quite quick enough to be spared the referee's attention, however, and he saw the tail end of the Leap, and quickly disqualified Savage, awarding the victory to Henry.

Famine was apparently furious at the referee's decision, and looked to take out his fury on the man in stripes. Henry got in his way before he could throw a punch, and immediately a wild brawl started. Henry for a moment looked to be getting the better of it, despite the 4 or 5-on-1 advantage (it took a while for Savage to wake up and get involved), but when Roger Reed joined his teammate, the numbers game really got to him. Being beaten down by six other men, Henry still tried to fight his way free, but was gradually overwhelmed and beaten down hard. We fade to black on the scene of an unconcious and bleeding Henry lying in the center of the ring.

Final Thoughts

This was the show I wanted the last one to be. Finally got another match in the Bs, which I do believe is the first one in this calendar year. Everyone seemed to do a good job, and the flow of the matches and angles seemed to go how I wanted them. I give this show a thumbs up.

The crowd erupts as the Openweight Champion Ross Henry makes his way to the ring. He talks about the championship match that occurred at Bull Market Brawl, and says that he's uncomfortable with how it ended. It seems Famine Faith hasn't gotten over losing to him, and felt the need to interject himself.

Famine himself interrupts and says that Henry is correct. Famine should be champion, and since he's not allowed to get another shot until Henry loses the belt, Famine's going to make sure that happens sooner rather than later. Henry best get used to it...maybe even just give up the championship.

Before Henry can respond, Lightning Lomas makes his way to the ring. He says that he understands Famine's frustration, but Lomas isn't through with him yet. In fact, Lomas has an idea...he'll put his own ability to challenge for the title on the line if Famine faces him yet again.

The trio is interrupted yet again, as Micheal Savage makes his way to the ring. He points out that everyone in the ring is forgetting about one little detail...Savage earned a title shot, and he had that stolen from him by Famine's attack on the champion. He had the champ defeated on his own, and Famine stole that from him. Before ANYONE gets another shot at Henry, Savage wants to finish his match with the champ.

All four men now in the ring, they get in each others faces, and appear to be about to come to blows when they are interrupted by Davis Ditterich and Emily McQueen at ringside. They say that word from the back is that tonight we will see a tag match with Henry and Lomas taking on Famine and Savage.

Pennyworth and McManus bring it tonight in a hard fought back and forth affair. An early poke to the eye gives Pennyworth an advantage, but McManus slowly works his way back into contention for the victory, only to be tripped up by Money on the outside, returning control to Pennyworth. The battle works its way outside, where Pennyworth eventually slams McManus into the ring steps, laying in the boots for a few more seconds before rolling back into the ring and taking the countout victory with a huge smile on his face.

Tag team match for the main event, with everyone teaming up with people who are not their regular partners. This was a decent match, though from the outset it appeared that Henry had his mind somewhere else. He appeared to be easily distracted, and missed a couple of tags he could have made. When he was in the ring, it looked like he was just going through the motions. The others in the match were able to make up for his off day (and let's be honest, even his off day was pretty good), and got a pretty decent story going. Famine repeatedly ducked Lomas, but there was tension being played up between him and his partner. The match ending came when Lomas got a hot tag after a couple double team moves on Henry, only to see Famine tag out immediately. Savage took the brunt of Lomas' initial onslaught, and absolutely jacked him with a Locked Hate Demolisher that seemed to erupt from nowhere. Henry was still on the outside recovering and didn't even notice the pin attempt, leaving Savage to get the three.

Final Thoughts

This was a solid show coming off the PPV. It also happened to be W$W's 200th event, giving Pennyworth another User Talent point (I took Creativity -- hopefully some good gimmicks will come of it).

In other news, our roster is BLOATED. Deever leaving is actually kind of helpful. Silencer's contract is expiring, and I'm probably going to just let him go. That still leaves us almost twice as many people as we should have by the numbers. So far it's ok, but particularly in the undercard it's hurting people. The problem is that the people in the undercard are all pretty promising, and I don't want to give up on any of them. Ah, if only I was Cult and could afford a child promotion.

The announcers put over the momentum this gives to Caine & Orton going into Short Sell.

But this won't be just any normal match -- in this match, the stipulation will be that if Famine defeats Lomas, then Lomas can not challenge for the Openweight title until the champion changes, but Famine can.

But the more important announcement is about the W$W Openweight Championship itself. At Short Sell, we will once again have Ross Henry defend the title against Micheal Savage, but this time, to prevent any outside interference, it will take place inside a steel cage. First pinfall or submission inside the cage earns the title.

An excellent match between two top technicians. While Pennyworth started out in control, Allen would take over and slowly wear down Money's protege despite the owner of W$W shouting words of advice from the outside of the ring. It looked like she was about to claim the victory, hitting the Northern Lights Suplex in the middle of the ring...but unfortunately, Pennyworth's feet caught the referee on the throw and he went down. That allowed him and Money to switch to some underhanded tactics, which they did with aplomb. Money slid a steel chair into the ring, and after a couple of hits on Allen, Pennyworth noted the referee stirring. He slammed the chair into the turnbuckle, visibly denting it. He then tossed the chair at Allen's feet and crumpled into a ball holding his head just as the referee stood up. He saw the chair and Pennyworth on the ground, and disqualified Allen.

He suggests that Lomas make his peace now, because after Short Sell, there won't be enough of him left to do so.

LeFleur makes his first Blue Chip defense in a contractually obligated rematch, and it is a doozy. He and Silencer went all around the ring, throwing each other in and out of the ring and landing hard and fast blows that echoed around the arena. Eventually, LeFleur was able to get the former champ into the Parisian Chickenwing, and hold on until he tapped out.

A pretty good match, all things considered, though it was obvious that Windham was outclassed in the ring. Still, the other three more than made up for it, and the match was definitely fun to watch. These are two face teams, so there were a few shows of respect, countermove after countermove followed by a handshake. When things started kicking into high gear, the sheer size and strength of TNBT proved to be too much for the high flying Showtime. At least until Jillian Jarvis' music hit and she started making her way to the ring. Aroma went out to confront her while Lindland shouted at her from the ring, leaving nobody to notice that Phantom had recovered. He grabbed Lindland for the rollup, holding him down long enough to get the three, and leaving Jarvis laughing all the way out of the ringside area.

The second tag preview match of the evening was...less than I'd hoped it'd be. It was a decent match, with some fun back and forth action, and heelish moves from both men. Orton looked to be leading towards a victory when the rest of Apocalypse made their way to the ring. While War managed to distract the referee (claiming Orton had thumbed him in the eye), they took turns hitting Orton with power moves culminating with the Leap of Faith. Rolling out of the ring, War suddenly recovered, and hit the Asian Thumb Spike, dropping him for the three count.

And all that means is that Savage...doesn't stand a chance.

A match featuring the proxies for the Openweight champ and his challenger, with the competitors at ringside. This was a high impact matchup that maybe went a little too long, as Slick was obviously starting to tire by the time it ended. And the end was chaos, as first Savage then Henry made their will felt, culminating with a brawl in the middle of the ring between all four men as the referee threw the match out.

Final Thoughts

Somehow, despite those last two matches dragging it down, I still managed a respectable show, especially for the Mid Atlantic region. Maybe if I'd moved it around a little (ending with the title match I guess), this could have been better. But man, do I miss the B level shows.
