MLW Summer Apocalypse

Sunday, Week 3, August 2018

Center Stage (The Loft)- Atlanta, GA

Show Attendance: 508

Shown on: Twitch

Show Announcers: PaSJF6c.jpg and sz78nQA.jpg

Tony Schiavone and Matt Striker

Preshow Incidents

Matt Riddle was antagonizing Bruce Pritchard so bad that a fight broke out and they had to be pulled apart. More on this later.

MVP helped create a great atmosphere backstage when he pulled a great rib on the locker room that had everybody laughing.

Shane Strickland was brought before wrestler's court, accused of moaning all the time and bumming people out. The judge, Col. Robert Parker, found him guilty and sentenced him to shut up or cheer up, and to buy drinks for everyone after the show. Strickland has seen his behavior improve.

The Show

Schiavone: - "Welcome to MLW Summer Apocalypse! This is our first event that will air on demand on Twitch, and it's set to be a spectacular one."

Striker: - "That's right Tony, we have 3 titles on the line tonight, and a pair of special challenge matches. Don't be surprised to see some fireworks tonight."

Schiavone: - "Enough chit chat, let's get down to the ring for our first bout!"

M5pwsJr.jpgcWJPqRb.jpg vs. slHtygv.jpgbBD0L7c.jpg

Cade and Yuta w/Chelsea Green vs. The Dirty Blondes w/Col. Robert Parker

An exciting bout to kick off the show, as Cade and Yuta kept the Dirty Blondes off their feet and off balance most of the match, but as expected, Col. Robert Parker played a factor at ringside, using his cane to trip Yuta while the Blondes had the referee distracted.

Schiavone: - "That damn Col. Parker! I didn't like him in WCW and I still don't like him."

Striker: - "Tony, you can't get mad at Col. Parker for doing what a manager is supposed to do. He's doing his job and helping his clients. It's not his fault the referee is too stupid to pay attention to what is going on."

Back to the match, the turning point came when Col. Parker again tried to trip Yuta with his cane, but what he didn't see was a reversal of an irish whip that let to Leo Brien being tripped instead. That was all the advantage Yuta needed, as he was able to get the Yuta lock on Brien, and Brien had no choice but to tap out, giving Cade and Yuta the win! (46)

After the match, with Cade and Yuta celebrating with Green, Col. Parker ran in the ring and pushed Green down, and the Blondes and Parker used the cane to beat down Cade and Yuta. (18)

Schiavone: - That is absolutely despicable, pushing a young lady to the mat like that! Col. Parker should be absolutely ashamed of himself!

Striker: - While I don't condone what Parker did to Green, there's no doubt they sent a message. Cade and Yuta may have won the match, but they don't look like winners now!

Schiavone: - Right now let's take you backstage to our newest interviewer, none other than... ErFeJPt.jpg Karen Jarrett!

Jarrett: - "Thanks Tony, it's a pleasure to be in MLW, and I have no doubt my husband will do big things for this company. Right now I want to introduce one of the young talents, new to MLW," mTPmP0b.jpg "Brian Pillman Jr."

*Pillman comes in with a big smile on his face*

Jarrett: - "Brian, tonight you have a match with another very exciting young talent, Fred Yehi. What can we expect from your match tonight?"

Pillman Jr. - "Well you know Karen, you're looking quite lovely by the way." *Jarrett gives a sly smile as she turns red* "Tonight, Fred Yehi. You're a great talent, don't get me wrong, but like my late father, the great Brian Pillman" *roar from the crowd* "I will defy the odds. You see, I'm on a mission here in MLW. I want to carve out my own path. My pops excelled in the lightweight division in a company called WCW. Well, MLW has a middleweight division. Yeah, I might decide to challenge for that title, but I have bigger and better plans. I want to rise to the top and do something my dad was never given the chance to do.. become the face of a company. I want that MLW Title, and Yehi, you're just another step on the ladder to get there." *turns and heads to the ring with a purpose* (23)

Jarrett: - "You heard it here first, Mr. Pillman Jr. wants to become King of the Mountain so to speak. Back to you Tony!"

Schiavone: - "Very subtle Karen, very subtle. There's no doubt that Pillman Jr. is on a mission. Now back to the ring!"

mTPmP0b.jpg vs. MXDBfaw.jpg

Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Fred Yehi

A decent match between 2 of the young stars of MLW, and it didn't disappoint. The action was fast and intense. Both men battled back and forth with neither man gaining an edge. The one advantage Pillman Jr. has is being a second generation superstar though, and knowing the tricks of the trade. That was enough to catch Yehi off guard with a Tornado DDT, picking up the pinfall victory! (45)

Schiavone: - "What an exciting match! There's no doubt about it, Pillman Jr. may want to carve his own path, but nobody can deny that he definitely has a lot of his dad in him!"

Striker: - "Tony, we are looking at 2 future stars, no doubt in my mind."

Schiavone: - "Let's keep the action going, back to the ring we go for the first of 3 title matches!"

MLW World Middleweight Title Match

ZYYzEEk.jpg © vs. nxpJ4Sw.jpg

Maxwell Jacob Friedman © vs. Trey Miguel

This didn't turn out to be the best match, as MJF did his best to play to the crowd, but they weren't buying into it. As far as the match itself, Trey got some offense in, but MJF continue to show why he has the potential to hold this title for a long, long time. He took control late and finished off Miguel with a Swanton Bomb, making defense #2 of his title. (27)

After the match, MJF wasn't done, as he continued to put the boots to Miguel.

Schiavone: - "Come on, this is ridiculous. Somebody get in there and stop this!

Striker: - "Why should anybody stop this Tony? It's a big man's sport, Trey knew what he was getting into. MJF is proving he has the fight of a champion."

Schiavone: - "By beating up his opponent after he has won the match? What kind of champion is that?"

*Before Striker could answer, an unknown figure ran into the ring. Unknown because he had a mask on. He was able to run MJF off before removing the mask, revealing himself to be... ZPxuBvY.jpg Dezmond Xavier!*

Xavier: - "Hey Maxwell Jacob Friedman, you smug son of a bitch! I'm talking to you!"

*MJF turns around with a smirk and a raised eyebrow*

Xavier: - "You think it's cool to attack someone after the match? Does that make you a cool champion? Well guess what, it doesn't. Now what's cool, is being a Rascal! And me and my fellow Rascal Trey, we challenge you and a partner to a match, anytime, anyplace. That is, if you can find someone to team with you, because (in a sarcastic voice) you're better than everybody. So you probably don't have a friend to your name. Let's go, punk! You're not gonna do a rascal like that, it's on. Find a partner and we'll settle it in the ring!"

*MJF yells back his standard "I'm better than both of you" line and vows to find a friend.. or a partner.* (33)

Striker: - "Wow Tony, things are getting intense now. The Rascalz are back together."

Schiavone: - "The real question is, can MJF find a friend to take the Rascalz on?"

Striker: - "He doesn't need a friend Tony, he's better than both those Rascalz, he could beat them both at the same time."

Schiavone: - "Be that as it may, we've got more action, so let's get to the ring!"

MLW World Tag Team Title Match

392rusl.jpgmLtnbkm.jpg © vs. YcKJ7jx.jpg8gO20v7.jpg

The Lucha Bros © w/Salina de La Renta vs. The Smash and Dash Connection

A throw together title match here, as The Lucha Bros needed to defend their title, and with not a lot of tag teams, especially face tag teams, in MLW right now, The Smash and Dash Connection got the shot. But in reality, they were no match for Penta and Fenix, who kept them off balance with an array of moves. Kotto Brazil was able to get some offense in, and Barrington Hughes used his size to his advantage when he could, but the end came when Penta, in an incredible feat of strength, got Barrington in a Top Rope Styles Clash, getting oohs and awes from everybody, and getting another defense of their title! (47)

Striker: - "Wow! That was some feat of strength! What a team!"

Schiavone: - "Matt, can anybody beat these guys? They could hold those titles for a long, long time!!"

Striker: - "It's going to take a special kind of team to defeat the Lucha Bros, I don't see any current tag team in MLW that will be able to do it."

Schiavone: - "It's time for the first of our double main event, let's get to the ring!"

cYm8LGQ.jpg vs. stF8qxC.jpg

MVP vs. Jake Hager

This match was superb, as both have been in the battle for the MLW World Heavyweight Title in the past. Neither man could gain much of an advantage, until MVP started to wear down and Hager took control. As it looked like Hager was about to finish off MVP.. GPpUa9o.jpg Matt Riddle came down to ringside to distract Hager.

Striker: - "What is he doing here? He's not part of the match!"

Schiavone: - "What's wrong with him being down there to observe?"

As the referee was trying to get Riddle away from the ring, MVP rolled up Hager, grabbing the ropes for extra leverage, getting the 1,2,3 and stealing a victory! (52)

Striker: - "This is ridiculous Tony, do we have a competent official in MLW? First the distraction, then MVP uses the ropes? What a cheater!"

Schiavone: - "Now Matt, let's not act like you didn't use some shortcuts when you wrestled? And did you not say that you do what you have to do to win?"

Striker: - "Oh Tony, quit using my words against me, that was unfair and you know it!"

Schiavone: - "Whether it was or wasn't, it goes down as a win for MVP, and now it's time for our MLW World Title Match!"

MLW World Heavyweight Title Match

dBxDx8l.jpg © vs. hnePWiY.jpg

Low-Ki © vs. "Filthy" Tom Lawlor

Another solid match to end the show. Not as good as the MVP/Hager match, but still solid. This one was a fight, as both men used their extensive martial arts skills as much as they could. "Filthy" Tom got a little too aggressive though, going for a big move that wasn't there, and Low-Ki took advantage, getting Lawlor in the Warrior's Way to get the pin and defend his title successfully! (42)

Striker: - "Low-Ki is another champion that could hold his title for a while. What a sensational athlete."

Schiavone: - "I have to agree, we have some dominant champions here in MLW. Great effort by "Filthy" Tom, but MVP just has too much experience. That's it for tonight folks, what a great show! We'll see you tomorrow for MLW Fusion on Twitch!"

I hope you guys all enjoyed the format for MLW Summer Apocalypse. It's the format I will use for all the big events (which will be once a month). I'm sticking with the quick recaps for the weekly shows, because I think I would get burnt out quickly if I used the event format for all the shows. But making you guys feel like you are actually watching the show on tv, with little quips back and forth between Schiavone and Striker.. well.. it's different. I like it, and I'm having fun with it. That being said, if anybody has any questions or comments, feel free to let me know.

Ol' Double J here, and boy what a show that MLW Summer Apocalypse was huh? I was very pleased, for the most part. We are now ranked #48 in the world, up from #50 when I took over. I'll take it. After the show I praised Low-Ki on a job well done, and I encouraged Brian Pillman Jr. If the kid is anything like his dad, he'll be a natural. Penta came to me after the show and told me that he felt like his back was going to snap in half when he did the Top Rope Styles Clash on Barrington Hughes. Apparently Barrington did very little to help him out, so I told him that he needed to step it up. He didn't seem to have much of a response either way, but I'll definitely be keeping my eye on it. Now... to the elephant in the room. *knocking on door* Come in boys.

*A very contrite looking Matt Riddle comes in, followed behind by Bruce Pritchard, who looks at me and flips Riddle the bird*. *I shake my head at Bruce as they both sit down.*

Riddle: "Mr. Jarrett, I would just like to say" *I cut him off*

Jarrett: "Son, you'll have your turn to speak, I know what happened, I don't need to hear stories" *Riddle bows his head*

Pritchard: "Jeff, I don't know if I can work with this guy or not. He's rude, obnoxious, among other things."

*An argument starts between Bruce and Matt, right there in my office, and I've had enough*

Jarrett: "THAT IS ENOUGH!!!" *instant quiet* "Bruce, you and I have been around a long time, and I'm not gonna lose my top road agent over a little disagreement. *Bruce starts to speak* "Shut up, I'm not finished" *Bruce closes mouth and shuts up* "Now, we've seen it all, done it all, in Impact especially. If you flew off the handle at every single incident that happened, you would have given up on the industry long ago."

Pritchard: *deep thought* "That's a fair point Jeff, but we can't have this kind of behavior."

*Matt raises his hand* Riddle: "Sir, can I speak now?"

Jarrett: "I appreciate your patience and your politeness, what do you have to say for yourself?"

Riddle: "Sir, it was just good natured ribbing. I didn't mean anything bad by it, and I certainly didn't mean to start a fight."

*I chuckle* Jarrett: "Matt, I've been where you are at, young, cocky, but what you need to understand is you're still green to this business. Now Bruce and I.. we've been around a long time. Good natured ribbing is ok, but when a man has had enough, it's time to stop. Did you, or did you not keep it going?"

*Riddle nods his head*

Jarrett: "Son I used to work for a company called WCW. Remember them? *Bruce laughs* Pritchard: - "Boy what a dumpster fire that turned out to be."

Jarrett: - "And why did it turn into a dumpster fire? Too many egos backstage. We had Bischoff, we had Russo, we had Hogan, Hall, Nash. The list goes on. The same problems that happened in WCW, also started happening in Impact. I am not going to let another company that I'm a part of, fall victim to the backstage antics. We are in good shape right now, a lot of positive influences, but it only takes 1 to turn things around." *looks at Bruce* "However, I'm certainly not going to fire someone on a first offense. I will give everybody a second chance, but I WILL NOT give third chances. You get 1 strike with me, 1. And you've used yours. Do you understand?" *looking into Matt's eyes and seeing his answer without even needing to hear it.*

"Good, so here's what is going to happen. I'm fining you your show fee from last night. You're not getting paid for last nights show. If I have to call you back into my office for disciplinary measures, you're done. Get it, got it, good. Now both of you, get out of my office."

Riddle: "Sir, I promise to be better in the future."

Jarrett: "I hope so, because I have big plans for you. One last thing. Matt..Bruce.. shake hands. We're not leaving on bad terms."

*Bruce and Matt shake hands, albeit a little begrudgingly, and leave my office*

"A guys work is never done"

Ol' Double J here with a little bit of news. Major League Wrestling has 4 new talents to add to the roster. I went out and signed another tag team, as well as another main event player, and a midcarder.

Jayson Paul (otherwise known as JTG) and Shad Gaspard. They were known in WWE as Cryme Tyme. Of course, Vinnie Mac decided nobody else was allowed to use the Cryme Tyme name, so we are going to call these boys Rebel Cell.

Afa Anoa'i Jr. will fit well in the mid-card scene. Yes, he and Lance are related. Will I make them a tagteam, will I have them feud? Who knows? Hell I don't even know what I'm gonna do from one day to the next.

Tommy Mercer, formerly known as Crimson in TNA, will just be known as Tommy Mercer here. He'll be a Main Event player right off the bat.

All 4 will debut on the next episode of MLW Fusion.

MLW Psycho Circus Preview

The 2nd big MLW event under the Jeff Jarrett era is about to take place, and here's a look at the card and how we got here.

-- After their all out brawl backstage at this weeks episode of MLW Fusion, MLW management has granted Jeff Cobb an MLW World Heavyweight Title Match against the champion Low-Ki. Expect this one to be a war.

-- Based off their win in their debut match in MLW, combined with their wealth of tag team experience, MLW management has granted Rebel Cell a shot at the MLW World Tag Team Titles, where they will take on the champs, The Lucha Brothers.

-- Not coming off the best string of results lately, Lance Anoa'i will team with his uncle, Afa Anoa'i Jr, and they will take on the Smash N Dash Connection.

-- After their break up at the latest edition of MLW Fusion, MLW management has signed Darby Allin and Jimmy Havoc to battle each other in a Hardcore Match. With Priscilla Kelly aligned with Havoc, what role, if any, will she have in the match?

-- MLW management ruled that MJF must choose a tag team partner to take on The Rascalz at MLW Psycho Circus. Who will MJF choose? He's been very tight-lipped (and very upset that he has to have a partner), but he did tell us that it is someone on the active roster.

-- In a 3 way elimination match, Brian Pillman Jr., Fred Yehi, and Rich Swann will do battle to determine the next contender for the MLW World Middleweight Title, currently held by MJF.

-- Also, after the attack from Jake Hager at this weeks episode of MLW Fusion, we will hear from Matt Riddle to see how he is doing.

-- 2 weeks ago on MLW Fusion, Col. Robert Parker and The Dirty Blondes challenged Cade and Yuta to a rematch. We'll get Cade and Yuta's answer at MLW Psycho Circus.

Tune in folks, as this promises to be a very exciting show.

I plan on running this show Wednesday, if all works out, so you have around 48 hours to get your predictions in. I am doing a prediction contest, and the top 3 get prizes. With only 4 shows left in this prediction contest, if you want to get in, now is your chance.

MLW World Tag Team Title Match

The Lucha Brothers © w/Salina de La Renta vs. Rebel Cell

Comments: Completely unrelated, but a few days ago my buddy said that Salina was hot. I was like, "Yeah I guess...". So he looked at me as if to say what is wrong with you.

I then told him that I read that Salina is a flat earth believer and that automatically takes her down several notches on the hot scale. He rolled his eyes and shook his head.

My point? I find a woman to be less attractive if they think the earth is flat.:D

This is just a guess. I would have said Richard Holliday but you said it was someone on your current roster so that pick went out the window.

Prediction Contest Results

MLW Psycho Circus

A little disappointed that 7 people predicted the first show, but only 2 this time. As it stands, here's the results of the 2 that predicted:

brianc2008- 4 points

BHK1978- 4 points

brianc2008 got the bonus question by correctly predicting Sammy Guevara as MJF's mystery partner.

Overall

brianc2008- 8 points

BHK1978- 7 points

Martel123- 5 points

Theheel- 4 points

Warhawk8492- 3 points

RyanR93WKU- 2 points

Powerbrock100- 2 points.

Still 3 shows left in this particular prediction contest, plenty of time for people to catch up.

Double J here, reporting in after another solid event. The final show rating was slightly higher than our first big event, MLW Summer Apocalypse, but it's a bit concerning that we have had 4 episodes of MLW Fusion that rated higher than our 2 big events. Now I realize that I've never completely been in charge of booking, and that I have to get better, but hey, the fans are ecstatic right now about our company and that's all that matters.

How about that title change, huh? Jeff Cobb, new MLW World Heavyweight Champion. Some people are asking why. Well, it was time for a change, I see a lot of upside in Cobb. Now, will he hold the belt for long? That's a question that only I can answer.... and I'm not ready to answer it yet. Those of you who have been following know how I book.. strictly on the fly. That's not going to change.

Now to the bad points of MLW Psycho Circus. My boy Rich Swann, who won the 3 way elimination match to becoming #1 contender for the MLW World Middleweight Title. Unfortunately, his title shot is going to have to wait a few weeks. You see, he suffered a Grade II Hamstring Strain last night and is out of action for the next 3 weeks. Never fear though, I've got other plans for MJF in the process, and Rich will get his shot when he comes back.

Unfortunately, the reason he was injured was a botched moved by Fred Yehi. Look, I get it, nobody is perfect. These aren't the best of the best that I'm working with. But we have to get better. 2 big events, 2 botches or near botches that have resulted in injuries or near injuries. This pattern can't go on, and if I have to hit the free agent wire to find some safer workers, I will. Hey, Ol Double J invested a lot into this company.

Speaking of which, MLW is now in the red. I realize I could pull us out of that red, I've got the money to do so, but I don't want to do that, not yet. So what I've done instead, is create an alliance with Impact Wrestling and House of Hardcore. I will be looking to add other companies to the alliance. The terms are simple, we split the pots, which should help us build up money again, and we are able to trade talent. There will be no alliance titles, at least not at this time. There may be in the future. Alright, ol Double J needs to get back to work planning the next show. It could be up as early as tonight. Stay tuned!

For those still following, I will be running my next show on Monday. This week has just not been good, I had a couple incidents at the job that temporarily trigged my depression issues and I just needed to take a break from everything.

I'm definitely going to jump back into this on Monday though, thanks for your patience.

I have a couple shows coming up this week, but I'm going out of the role of Double J for this one. I have some ooc questions I'd like to ask, some things I'm thinking about adding to this dynasty and I'd like some votes on whether to add them.

1. I've been going back and forth on adding an on-screen authority figure, or just sticking with the common "MLW Management has ordered". Thoughts?

2. Because there are so many members of the roster I'd like to see have success, I'm thinking about adding a handful of jobbers to the roster, just like old Prime Time Wrestling used to be. Thoughts?

3. In addition to the King of the Mountain tournament, I'm also considering a prospects tournament, where I bring in guys that either are under a certain age and/or have certain number of years or less experience, then running a tournament where the winner gets a roster spot. Thoughts on this?

4. At the beginning of every month, I'm considering not only showing the roster again, but also recapping the storylines I'm doing. Showing the storyline and the angles/matches within the storyline. Would anybody be interested in this or should I continue as I have been? Thanks for your input everybody, as I said, shows will be up very soon. At least 1, maybe even 2, today.
