I used to always struggle with this when I wrote diaries on here. Mainly because the authority figure has been done to death in real life. But it is a good way to move the storylines forward, instead of having a faceless entity enforcing the rules. </p><p> </p><p> Maybe you could take a page out of the old WWF book and have a Jack Tunney like figure who only renders rulings for important events. Like a title being held up or whatnot. For lesser rulings you could have the announcers say that MLW President (insert name here) has issued a ruling on whatever is going on.</p><p> </p><p> That way when the President appears onscreen the readers will know it is a major storyline as the President being onscreen adds some gravitas to the situation. </p><p> </p><p> However, when just the announcers talk about the President's ruling the readers will understand that while the ruling was important enough to talk about, it was not so important that the President had to talk about in onscreen.</p><p> </p><p> 2. I am all for jobbers. It makes your stars look good and they can pick up some wins. They do not have to trade wins. The only thing that is iffy is that the match ratings might not be as good with jobbers.</p><p> </p><p> 3. I am also for a top prospect tournament. That was one of my favorite things in ROH.</p><p> </p><p> 4. The last one should be entirely up to you. I like the idea and think it is a great way to keep up with what is going on if as a read I miss something. But it also gives you extra work. If you do not find it to be burdensome I would say that it would be a welcome addition to the diary.</p>

I agree I’d go with a sometimes on screen President or Commish but I wouldn’t have them become the story. Just handing down decisions, announcing a tourney etc. The heel Authority has been done way too much and in my mind it takes away from the talent you are try to put over. Unless you have a unique take on it, I wouldn’t go there.</p><p> </p><p> 2. Yes jobbers work well when your doing weekly tv shows. Not every show has to have top matches. Job guys build momentum for the top stars so your big shows really can pop. Old school formula but it worked and didn’t get everyone bored because they have seen a match multiple times. It’s one of the big WWE problems in my opinion.</p><p> </p><p> 3. I’m not a huge fan of too many tournaments because you have to end up beating top talent on the way through it. New Japan does it well with the G1, an annual tourney (Crockett Cup, King of the Ring or Mt). The rookie tourney work as you can have so some of those on tv etc. my advice don’t run multiple tourneys at the same time and give some space between them.</p><p> </p><p> 4. My opinion is do a recap of stories and announce any comings or going but don’t put the time into recap the whole roster with all the pics etc. if it becomes too much time on maintenance issues it’s less likely a writer will continue</p><p> </p><p> Those are just my thoughts</p>

MLW One Shot Preview

The 3rd big event under the Jeff Jarrett regime is set, and here's a short preview of the event that will have 6 big matches.

-- MLW Management has granted Low-Ki his rematch against Jeff Cobb for the MLW World Heavyweight Title, and it will in fact be in a cage. It will be a modern cage match, meaning the match can be won by normal pinfall or submission, or by escaping the cage either through the door or over the top. Can Cobb successfully defend, or will he lose it in his first defense?

-- With 2 seemingly qualified #1 contenders for the MLW World Middleweight Title, MLW management made the only decision they could. MLW World Middleweight Champion MJF will defend in a Triple Threat match against Rich Swann and Sammy Guevara. Unfortunately, Twitch rejected MLW's request to make this a ladder match (Twitch will allow a cage match, but not a ladder match? Ok then), the match will be a standard Triple Threat match. First one to score a pinfall or submission wins.

-- MLW World Tag Team Champions The Lucha Bros have defeated almost every tag team on the MLW roster. Because of that, MLW management worked out a deal with Impact Wrestling to bring OVE in, and they will face the Lucha Bros in an MLW World Tag Team Title Match.

-- Given the option, Matt Riddle insists on going forward with the submission match against Jake Hager, saying his ankle feels good enough to go. The match is on for MLW One Shot.

-- They've been involved in a feud for weeks now, and MLW management has made the match official. Cade and Yuta will again take on The Dirty Blondes in tag team action.

-- Joey Janela has taken to twitter with some very unpleasant comments about one Tommy Mercer, calling his time in Impact Wrestling a complete joke. Mercer didn't take too kindly and went to MLW management, and they were quick to sign the match. Mercer now has his chance to get his hands on "The Bad Boy".

-- All this, and we're being told that MLW has hired a commissioner to oversee some of the goings on in the ring, freeing MLW owner Jeff Jarrett to concentrate on the business side of things. We're being told this new commissioner has been in the business for over 30 years, and is a former WCW champion, among the many titles he has held. Who did Jarrett hire? We'll have the answer at MLW One Shot.

Not a huge fan of Crimson but Joey Janela sucks even more.

Guys I apologize, the last week has not been good. We lost internet at the house for a few days, and I was planning on running MLW One Shot today. But a personal issue after work has gotten me down to the point where I really just don't feel like it today. On the bright side, this gives people more time to get their predictions in. Provided tomorrow is a good day, I will have MLW One Shot up tomorrow. If not, we will try for Wednesday. I can promise you this, it WILL be up this week, one way or another.

MLW One Shot

Sunday, Week 2, October 2018

Center Stage (Theater)- Atlanta, GA

Show Attendance: 837

Shown on: Twitch

Show Announcers: PaSJF6c.jpgsz78nQA.jpg

Tony Schiavone and Matt Striker

Schiavone: - "Welcome to MLW One Shot and what a night we have in store for you. 2 huge grudge matches, one to be held in a cage."

Striker: - "The question on everybody's mind though, Tony, is who has our boss Jeff Jarrett hired to be the MLW Commissioner? The possibility are endless!"

Schiavone: - "Great question Matt, all we know is that it is a former WCW World Champion. That leaves a lot of possibilities. But we'll get to that later. Right now, let's get down to the ring for our first match!"

ZYYzEEk.jpg vs. hwytQMZ.jpg vs. uhGex1L.jpg

MLW World Middleweight Title Triple Threat Match

MJF © vs. Rich Swann vs. Sammy Guevara w/Salina de La Renta

A great match to open the show, with both Swann and Guevara having a claim for the #1 contendership, and it didn't disappoint. The action was fast and furious. It looked like Guevara was going to pull the upset after hitting a Swanton Bomb on Swann, but MJF pushed Guevara off and out of the ring, and covered Swann for the pin to retain his title! (46)

Schiavone: - "That bastard! What a cheap way to get a victory!

Striker: - "What are you complaining about Tony? What do you expect him to do? Stand there and let Sammy get the pin? And you call yourself a wrestling genius.

Schiavone: - "Well.. no...but.. ah forget it folks, there's no arguing with you Matt."

Striker: - "Because I'm right and you're wrong, like usual."

*Schiavone throws his script up in the air in frustration. Schiavone: - "I give up! Let's watch this video."

A video hyping the feud between Cade and Yuta and the Dirty Blondes played, another less than impressive video montage. (15)

Striker: - "This one could and should be a war."

Schiavone: - "You mean we actually agree on something? Amazing. Let's go to the ring."

M5pwsJr.jpgcWJPqRb.jpg vs. slHtygv.jpgbBD0L7c.jpg

Cade and Yuta w/Chelsea Green vs. The Dirty Blondes w/Col. Robert Parker

As expected, this one was a war. At one point, Green gave Parker a hard slap across the face when he tried to trip Yuta with his cane. Because of that, the action spilled to the outside, and finally the referee had enough and disqualified both teams, leaving nothing settled. (47)

Striker: - "Now what do you call that Tony? What a cheap shot! Throw her out of the building. Or better yet, give Parker 5 minutes alone with her."

Schiavone: - "There you go again, advocating violence against women. Besides, it wouldn't have happened if Parker wouldn't have tried to get involved. He got what he deserved."

Striker: - "Hey, if she strikes first, the woman deserves what she gets. I don't know what it's going to take to settle this feud, but it's definitely not over."

Schiavone: - "Maybe putting them in a cage is the only way. Time for our next match!"

pN864ri.jpg vs. aT2lUTi.jpg

Tommy Mercer vs. Joey Janela

A pretty solid match here, as Mercer definitely made the Bad Boy pay for all that trash talking he did on social media. Janela got his shots in, but just couldn't overcome the strength of Mercer, as he finished Janela off with a huge spear to get a big win. (48)

Striker: - "Tony, we could be looking at a future MLW World Champ right there. Tommy Mercer looks very impressive."

Schiavone: - "He's had success in other companies, and he's definitely on the path for success here. It's time for our second title match of the evening. Down to the ring!"

MLW World Tag Team Title Match

The Lucha Bros © w/Salina de La Renta vs. OVE

In a match where MLW owner Jeff Jarrett had to borrow a tag team to try to compete with the Lucha Brothers, it was still too much Lucha power. One of the best tag teams in pro wrestling today continue to show why they are the best. Once again it was Penta finishing things off as he hit the Top Rope Styles Clash on Jake Crist, making it another successful title defense for the Lucha Brothers. (56)

Schiavone: - "Matt, it's quite possible that these guys could be the tag champs for many more years to come."

Striker: - "I agree Tony, they are good, but let's not get carried away. There are other really good teams out there, and you know our boss will do his very best to continue to bring in the best competition he can find."

Schiavone: - "Speaking of competition, our final title match of the night is about to get underway, and this one is also going to be a war."

MLW World Heavyweight Title Cage Match

Jeff Cobb © vs. Low-Ki

Cobb's first defense would be against the man he won the title from. Low-Ki was out for revenge, and he controlled the match early on. He used his quickness and martial arts skills to keep Cobb at bay, even briefly knocking him out briefly. The downfall of Ki has always been his attitude. Instead of taking the opportunity to get the win, he gloated and actually revived Cobb with a slap to the face. This infuriated Cobb, and just a few minutes later, Low-Ki was the one knocked down and out thanks to some power moves from Cobb and Cobb was the one who was taking advantage, climbing out the cage door for the win, getting his first defense of the MLW World Heavyweight Title! (56)

Striker: - "What a huge mistake by Low-Ki. He had a chance to win back the title, but instead he decided to gloat. That attitude is the reason he is not the champ today.

Schiavone: - "Matt, I believe it was you who said when you have a man down, you take advantage. Low-Ki didn't, Jeff Cobb did, and the result is a successful title defense.

*At this point, the theme song for MVP started playing.*

Schiavone: - "What the hell? This isn't on the format!"

Striker: - "Look Tony, there he is!! MVP in the hizhouse!"

Schiavone: "Matt, never say that again. For your own good."

cYm8LGQ.jpg

"Jeff Cobb! Congratulations, my man. I for one, am no Low-Ki fan, and it's good to see him taken down. But here's the thing, your challenges are just beginning, sir. You see, I've been in this game for a long, long time. I have that experience that you don't have. You may be strong, but that only goes so far. I got the savvy that you don't have.. yet. You might get there, but not before I take that belt from you. So, me and you, in the ring, for that title. Soon." (58)

Striker: - "Wow Tony, MVP has just challenged our MLW World Heavyweight Champion. What a match that would be."

Schiavone: - "I don't know who our new Commissioner will be, but it looks like he's going to have a decision on his plate right off the bat!"

Striker: - "That is yet to come, but we still have another match first. I'm stealing your line Tony, let's get to the ring!"

Submission Match

Jake Hager vs. Matt Riddle

It was a gallant effort by Riddle, who clearly wasn't at full strength after all the attacks backstage. He actually got Hager in a few submission holds, but it was clear that Riddle's ankle was nowhere near full strength. After basically toying with Riddle for several minutes, Hager finally went for the kill, trapping Riddle in an Ankle Lock. It didn't take long for Riddle to tap out, as Hager wins the submission match. (52)

After the match, Hager pranced and danced around the ring, celebrating his victory. (41)

Schiavone: - Oh good grief! Would Hager show a little bit of class? He beat an already injured man. I'd call it half a victory.

Striker: - "Hey, a victory is still a victory. If Riddle was stupid enough to get in the ring...…"

*At that point, Striker was interrupted with the theme music "It's Me, It's Me, It's DD..P!"

Schiavone: - "Oh my god! Could it be! It is! DDP!"

Striker: - "What is he doing here? And couldn't he have the decency to at least let me finish what I was saying? What a jerk!"

"So, earlier this week my buddy Double J called me up. Said he was having some problems in his new promotion. People running ragged, fights backstage, attacks, managers interfering. Hey, I've been on both sides of the law, so I know how it works. But now... well, I am the LAW! You see, everybody had their ideas for who the new MLW Commish would be. If you geniuses haven't figured it out yet, the new MLW commish is.. me, DDP! And I'm going to make the tough decisions. I'm not only going to be the commish, I'm going to be an enforcer if need be. And why don't I start by making my first decision, right now! Our next big event is in exactly one month. It's called MLW Clock Strikes Twelve. On that event, Jeff Cobb will defend the MLW World Heavyweight Championship against the man that challenged him earlier, none other than MVP! Now, that's all I got to say right now, but if anybody thinks they are going to come in here and challenge my authority, think again.* (54)

Schiavone: - "So DDP is our new commissioner! What a signing by the boss!"

Striker: - "The MLW locker room has no idea what they are in for. DDP has seen it all, done it all. There are definitely gonna be some changes."

Schiavone: - "Fans, what a show. We'll see you on MLW Fusion. Good night!"

Final Show Rating: 53

Great show!

DDP being the authority figure was a good guess for me. I like having him in that position because he was one of the boys but you could also see him in a role as commissioner.

I enjoyed the Low-Ki stunt in his match. Pride got in his way and he paid the price.

Thanks for the words! DDP just seemed like the best choice. The beauty of writing out the big events in more detail is that I can improvise. Obviously the game didn't simulate a Low-Ki pride stunt, I wrote that in myself. Just feel it adds a little bit to the big events and I don't have to write a book lol. I'm really enjoying writing this dynasty, and it's fun coming up with the Schiavone-Striker exchanges

As far as prizes, with 2 shows left, this is how the prizes are going to be set up: Each prediction contest will last 6 months, January-June and July-December. I think what I'm going to do is have my MLW Battle Riot (equivalent to the Royal Rumble) in July, and have the MLW King of the Mountain Tournament (gotta have the Jarrett reference in there) in January. That way it'll be opposite of what the WWE has.

For every prediction contest, this will be the set-up:

Winner gets 3 picks in the King of the Mountain or Battle Riot, plus gets to suggest 2 workers for me to sign.

2nd place gets 2 picks, and gets to suggest 1 worker.

3rd place gets 1 pick.

If we have a tie, then I am open to suggestions on tiebreakers. Maybe the first tiebreaker would be who gets the most bonus questions right. You can PM me or your suggestions or just tell them to me on here. As it stands, we have a tight race with 2 shows left.

Hey all, how about that MLW One Shot, huh? Our best show in my young history as MLW Owner. For those that haven't figured it out, we have 3 major storylines going right now, the Riddle-Hager feud, the Blondes-Cade and Yuta feud, and the Lance Anao'i losing streak. As soon as those end, I will add more. Going on the suggestions of someone, I'm looking to have at least 4 or 5 storylines going, some will be title storylines, some will be others.

In other news, MLW will be going old school soon, as I am in contract talks with 2 performers to bring them in as jobbers, and I have 2 guys on the current roster that I have restructured their contract and they will be jobbers. It won't take long to figure out the 4 guys that are jobbers, as they will be showcased most every week.

We are moving forward, I'm always looking to hire new talent, but I'm taking Bruce Pritchard off of shows for the time being. Bruce is costing me a lot of money to use, and I can save him for events, save some money during the weekly shows, and I can road agent them all myself. I'm also going to do the same thing with my referees. Instead of paying 2 referees every tv show, I will have them switch off on MLW Fusions, and of course they will both be used for the big events. The alliance that we have has us back in the black, as we made a $128,199 profit in September, and we currently have $125,000 ish in the bank.

Our promotion ranking continues to go up, we're ranked 42nd now. A nice jump from the 50 we were at just a couple months ago. We have the size to be a regional company, but right now I've locked us into being a small company. Until we get to the point where we are averaging 1,000 to 1,500 fans a show, and until we have the money situation a little better, I like where we are at.

Now, on to some sad news. The wrestling world lost a great one last week. My buddy, good Ol J.R, Jim ross, passed away at the age of 66. He actually passed away a couple of days before MLW One Shot, but I didn't get the news until after the show. I am looking at having some kind of memorial for him at our next big MLW event.

That's all. Another month of shows to plan, so let me get down to business. As always, I want to hear from all my great fans. If you have comments, questions, or concerns, bring them my way.

Not good Ol JR! Say it ain’t so. Seriously he is one of my favorite announcers along with Gordon Solie. I’m a big listener on his podcast with Conrad Thompson and maybe one of these days I’ll watch an AEW show, maybe
