How do I book as little as possible to advance deep into a RW game?

Recommended Posts

I was going to start a game in the 80s as WWF or WCW but I'd like to get years down the road but don't have the time to book a lot. What's the best way to work around a busy schedule and get the most out of TEW? I was thinking maybe just an hour main show and a ppv every month. Or just book PPVs. Maybe 2 ppvs a month and that's it. Any one have any thoughts or suggestions? Any option you like better?

Use the autobooking feature when you get to regular shows and just book your big PPV events.

Do a watcher for the first however many years, then take over as a booker (or owner).

I've got a CVerse game where I just finished the eighth full year and I've booked over 260 shows, but I spent a lot of time booking one show and then two shows a month before I built up to having weekly TVs and pay per views.

I hate using the auto booker (But I also hate letting the AI decide who wins my matches, I book every match fully). If you're wanting to say in control of a company, I'd start my own in the time period. That way you don't have to feel bad about not wanting to book the weekly TV and then can book the shows you want to book and don't have to rely on the autobooker to get guys over -- because they very well might not.

Your other option is to use the autobooker except for the workers you really want to get over. So you could book one or two matches a show to make sure to get the desired result you want and then auto book the rest.

Essentially booking no winner means a pretty stagnant roster. Isn't the fun of the game pushing new stars and telling stories? I don't get why anyone would actually play the game like this.

I never use it autobooker. I don't like it. It takes away my control, which is why I want to book in the first place. However, I can see the allure of it.

I also don't let the AI decide who wins. If it's a match between two guys I have nothing going on with, I'll pick at random ensuring no one is going on crazy winning/losing streaks unless it's part of an ongoing story.

Change your game settings to not include things like penalties for using a worker too often in a show, morale loss for not being used enough, not meeting specific time standards for shows, not having enough story lines.

Basically look at the game settings with all the boxes that you can check and eliminate anything that isn't important to you.

See if any broadcasters are willing to let you out of your TV deals. So for example if you're WWF and they have Wrestling Challenge, Superstars, Prime Time Wrestling or whatever else they have in your game go to the broadcasters screen and see if any will agree to let you out of your contract. Less shows equals less booking.

Use super basic things. I cut down down my booking time by doing this

Angle-5 minutes

Match-13 Minutes plus 2 minutes for the intros

There's 20 minutes of a show already. I do that three times for a one hour show and it gets the people over that I need to get over and lets me use people enough to suit my need.

I tend to do three story lines for a show. So in my 1995 WWF game for example I have Diesel vs Vader, Goldust vs The Undertaker and Steve Austin vs Barry Windham. I use the angles to get those stories over and the matches to push the people that I'm going to work into stories next.

I occasionally mix it up and have matches on the show involving the competitors involved in stories so I might have had Diesel and Shawn Michaels vs Vader and Sid Vicious and us the angle spot to have Bret Hart do a promo.

Or I might have Barry Windham in a match and set Steve Austin as a commentator.

I plan things out in a notebook so I have a basic idea of what I'm going to do in any given month and what my long term plan is.

For example I knew I wanted Vader vs Diesel at Wrestlemania so I started giving Vader a good push in November with promos and matches on RAW and then I had him win his team's match at Survivor Series, he won his In Your House match in December and then won the Royal Rumble in January. I then kept him off TV completely in February until after Diesel won in the main event at the ppv and then Vader attacked him post match. I made sure to do the pre-booking for Mania the day of the In Your House February show before I ran the show. That way the match buildup gets instant heat.

So having an idea ahead of time of what you want to do and how you want to get there cuts down quite a bit of time.

I tend to like to think at least three months ahead sometimes I'll go as far as to plan out a whole year. Obviously you run the risk of injury or people going to rehab or whatever but you don't have much control over that.

Booked the finals myself, since there was a post match speech and I didn't want to risk losing one of my few Tag-Teams with EVIL & Sanada lol

It all comes down to preference, obviously, but if you're not booking a winner, make sure that you wouldn't mind any of the wrestlers winning the match. Otherwise you end up with WWE games Universe mode level of madness. And don't forget... You can force the Auto-Booker to only book certain people. Win or lose... They will get over in the long run.

Multiplayer would be interesting, how would you see that working?

I've never used multiplayer in TEW so am unfamiliar with how it works mechanically. But, if you and someone else were playing direct competitor with similar schedules this would add some unpredictability to the competition since there might be some surprises at who gets over.

I'm mostly thinking of the Xavier Woods and Tyler Breeze SvR GM mode thing on YouTube. Them not picking winners makes it fairly chaotic.
