Earnest, “Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to another exciting and thrillpacked episode of Wrestling Spotlight right here on WrestleWorld. I’m Marvin Earnest and joining me in calling all the action tonight is my broadcast colleague Grace Harper and Grace, what a show we have for our fans tonight. Tonight is all about the main event where, for the first time ever, Sean McFly and Nicky Champion will step foot in a wrestling ring against one another.”

Harper, “Even though I hate this term because I think it is overused in wrestling, this is a dream match, Marv. This is the kind of match that wrestling fans have been dreaming of for twenty years and tonight, right here on Wrestling Spotlight we get to see it!”

Earnest, “We do! Plus James Diaz is in singles action and we see the tag team of the Assassins in action against Nebo Martell and Adam MacDonald. But before we get to a match, Taylor Gordy is standing by with Andrew Gibson and Bred for Battle.

05TFh3q.png

The camera cuts from the announce desk to the interview podium. Taylor Gordy is standing next to Andrew Gibson. Behind Andrew Gibson, as always, are the two men who make up Bred for Battle -- who are about to end their fifth year as a team and unit. Quite a bit of longevity for a duo and manager in today’s wrestling landscape.

TiIkT9w.jpgqYmW8S4.jpgh7OAb9p.jpg24CK4Wp.jpg

Gordy, “I’m joined today by Andrew Gibson and Bred for Battle. Andrew, a few weeks ago at Thanksgiving Turmoil, Dreadnought and James Diaz were in the ring with Nate DeMarcus and Warwick Good. Dreadnought was unable to control himself and was disqualified by the official for refusal to listen to the official’s instructions.”

Gibson, “We’re aware how the match ended, Taylor. We were there.”

Gordy, “Of course, I’m just recapping for any viewer who might have missed it.”

Gibson, “Air time is precious and you’re wasting it recapping when you could be talking about the most dominant tag team in pro wrestling? A team so physically dominant that the only way for them to lose is by a crooked official with a fast five count and a hair trigger with calling for a disqualification.”

Gordy, “Are you saying that Dreadnought should not have been disqualified?”

Gibson, “Of course I’m saying that. What did he do that was so disqualification worthy? Did he use an illegal object? No. Did he use an illegal hold? No. Did he intentionally strike an opponent in the groin? No. He was in a position of dominance and he was striking his opponent. That’s perfectly legal. There was nothing against the rules about that. But for some reason the official called for a break. Why did he call for the break? Did Nate DeMarcus submit? Was Nate DeMarcus unconscious? Because if so -- that means my boys won. Those are the only reasons for him to call for a break in a legal wrestling set up.”

Gordy, “I believe the official Andre Lane cited that Dreadnought was using closed fists, in violation of HPW and COTT rules.”

Gibson, “That sounds like something an official makes up to get themselves out of trouble. Dreadnought has never cheated. Not a day in his life. Neither has James Diaz. Why would they need to? Look at them. They’re two giant monoliths. They are the two most physically imposing wrestlers on the planet Earth. They’re the baddest men on the planet. They should be World Tag Team Champions. They should be HPW Tag Team Champions and Nate DeMarcus and Warwick Good are lucky they left that ring with their careers intact. Let’s go boys.”

Dreadnought and James Diaz both growled as Andrew Gibson led them away from the interview podium. Dreadnought went to the back while Diaz got into the ring.

Gordy, “Strong words from Andrew Gibson on behalf of Bred for Battle. Back to you, Marv and Grace.”

Earnest, “Andrew Gibson has Bred for Battle as focused as ever and I wouldn’t want to be Ronald Fry in this contest.”

Harper, “I wouldn’t either. Fry has good size and could develop into something, but he’s getting in the ring with a man that is almost unbeatable. James Diaz has every skill you look for in a wrestler. Every skill you need in a wrestler. I fully expect him to control this match and make short work of Ronald Fry.”

Earnest, “Ronald Fry just couldn’t get out of the gate tonight against James Diaz.”

Harper, “I told you. Diaz is just too big and too strong. He’s a future singles champion, I’m sure of it.”

Earnest, “Speaking of future champions, Taylor Gordy is standing by with Gary Greer and the Manifesto.”

We cut to the interview podium where Taylor Gordy is standing with Gary Greer and The Manifesto.

Gordy, “Gary, Bobby, Jamar. I’m told you have a challenge you want to make tonight?”

Greer, “That’s right! Me and my boys here, we think we’re the best trio in wrestling right now. We think we should get a World Six Man Title shot -- we’ve been on a roll. We’ve been winning matches. We’ve known each other since we were eighteen years old. We have that bond, y’know? But we also know there is another great trio here. The Deverell Army. Zippy and the Taggs. We know they want a World Six Man Title shot. So, we think next week we should meet in the ring and settle this and see who is gon’ get a title shot!”

Gordy, “So you’re challenging Deverell’s Army to a match next week?”

Greer/B], “That’s right. To find out who should challenge for the World Six Man titles. We hope to see them in the ring!”

Gary Greer and The Manifesto walked off.

Gordy, “If Deverell’s Army accepts we could have ourselves a big time six man tag next week! Back to you, Marv and Grace.”

Nebo Martell & Adam MacDonald versus The Assassins

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, The Assassins defeated Nebo Martell and Adam MacDonald in 11:42 when Assassin #1 submitted Adam MacDonald with a Galactic Toe Hold.

Earnest, “The Assassins continue to look good since arriving here in HPW with a big win over Nebo and Adam.”

Harper, “The Tag Team Division here in HPW continues to showcase incredible depth.”

Earnest, “Speaking of the Tag Team Division, Taylor Gordy is standing by with the former HPW Tag Team Champions. Take it away Taylor.”

We cut to the interview booth where Taylor Gordy is standing with the former HPW Tag Team Champions, The Dynamite Express

TiIkT9w.jpgK9PRsaA.jpgkGwolZw.jpg

Gordy, “Syd...Cam… Three weeks ago Thanksgiving Turmoil, you lost the HPW Tag Team Titles to the Texas Express. What’s next for you guys?

Collier, “Getting back the Tag Team Titles, of course. We’ve been the most successful champions in HPW history. We have more title defenses across our two reigns than any team in HPW history. We’ve been the measuring stick of this division. We lost at Thanksgiving Turmoil. Me and Cam are man enough to admit that. Cooper and Turk caught us on a bad night. An off night. But it won’t happen again.”

Jones, “That’s right. It won’t. We know Coop and Turk are honorable men. Fighting champions. So we know that they’ll meet us in the ring one more time and put those Tag Titles on the line and we can solve this like men and find out who really is the top team -- the face of the division.”

Syd and Cam walk off.

Gordy, “The gauntlet has been thrown down for the rubber match. Back to you, Marv and Grace.”

Earnest, “I’d love to see a third match between The Texas Express and the Dynamite Express.”

Harper, “Their first two matches have been excellent -- I can only imagine that a third would be equally as good.”

Earnest, “I think you’re right Grace. More on that as it develops. Up next is our main event. This is why we are all here tonight. For the first time ever, the Living Legend Sean McFly steps into the ring against the reigning Mid American Champion Nicky Champion. The title is on the line. This is a historic night. A night that could be on pay per view. That could be in a major stadium anywhere in the country but tonight it is right here on Wrestling Spotlight for our HPW faithful.”

Harper, “This is Sean McFly’s return to the ring after his neck injury. How will he do? These two men have dominated the sport of pro wrestling for twenty years. Sean McFly for longer -- he won his first World Title at twenty-two years of age. He’s never looked back. They have been the pinnacle of this sport. Of what it means to be pro wrestlers. Tonight they lock up for the first time and Marv, I’m as excited as any fan of the sport out there. This is going to be a great night. I can’t wait.”

The match had an electric feel. The two men stood across the ring from each other. Two unmoving immortals who have never before locked up. The crowd was on the edge of their seat. They were watching. Waiting. McFly and Champion studied each other. There was no gratuitous shaking of hands -- they didn’t need the faux sign of respect. The respect was in the body language. It was in the way they moved out of their assigned corners and danced around each other. Hands just in front of one another. Still not touching. Then they locked up. A hard, solid lock up between two veterans who know the importance of the initial lock up. It can set the tone. They pushed against one another. Both digging into the mat. It was a stalemate and they broke the lock up and the crowd applauded. Both men nodded in respect for the other and then they went into a Greco-Roman knuckle lock. This isn’t common in HPW, but it was busted out here and the two men went chest-to-chest. McFly is the more accomplished technician and he showed his technical aptitude by positioning himself to push Champion back into a neck bridge. He pushed Champion’s shoulders to the mat, got a one count and then Champion began the bridge back up. Champion got back to his feet and reversed the position so now it was McFly who was pushed to the mat. The veteran McFly -- who is coming off a broken neck -- didn’t stay in the bridge, instead he let himself go flat and moved his legs to perform a modified Drop-Toe-Hold on Champion to bring the, well, champion, to the mat.

McFly quickly moved to lock in a seated side headlock but Champion was equal to it and rolled away from it and the two men were back to their feet. Champion isn’t known for being a particularly adept technician -- but after twenty years as a pro, he knows his way around the squared circle. Another lock up and Champion was pulled into a Side Headlock by McFly. McFly holds it for a few seconds before Nicky Champion lifts him up into the air and brings him down for a modified Back Suplex that dropped McFly right on the surgically repaired neck of the thirty-year pro. McFly immediately grabbed at his neck and rolled out of the ring to the floor. Champion did not follow him to the floor -- instead, he let McFly have some time to collect himself. Champion even prevented Graveson from starting the count so that McFly had all the time he needed.

McFly rubbed at his neck and cautiously got back into the ring. When Champion came in for another lock up, this time, McFly drove a boot into the gut of Champion. This was the first strike of the contest. McFly followed that up with a forearm to the muscled back of Champion and then a short-knee lift. Champion was stunned and McFly hit Champion with a knife-edged chop. McFly has been well known for what people in Canada call the McFly Chop (probably more like the McFly Chop-eh). It’s been one of McFly’s primary strikes for years. A second chop blistered Champion’s chest and a third was just as hard -- but the champion fired up and fired back with three chops of his own right to McFly’s chest.

McFly launched another chop and grabbed Champion for a snap suplex. He followed the Snap Suplex up with a Single Leg Boston Crab that Champion powered out of. Champion got back to his feet, turned towards McFly and was caught quickly with an Enzugari that staggered him. Champion’s eyes had rolled back in his head and McFly followed it up with a thrust kick to the jaw of Champion that brought the newly minted Mid American Champion to the ground. Hawkeye was in trouble! McFly was building momentum. McFly hit the ropes and came back for a big Knee Drop and the cover and a kick out from Champion.

The crowd was getting louder. Sean McFly was dialing back the hands of time. Nicky Champion was rocked and Sean McFly pulled him back to his feet. McFly lifted Nicky Champion up -- straight up and held him. The crowd began to count as Sean McFly pulled out one of his trademark moves -- the McFly Delayed Suplex and he held Nicky Champion up for fifteen seconds before dropping him back to the mat. McFly motioned to the corner and the crowd got to their feet. The whole building was standing as Sean McFly ascended to the top rope. He lept off and kept his body normal as he flew through the air towards Nicky Champion and only at the last second did he snap his leg forward for his trademark Snap Driving Legdrop right into the throat of Nicky Champion. He made the cover.

One.

Two.

Th.

Nicky Champion kicked out of one of Sean McFly’s biggest moves. It’s not the Delorean Driver, but McFly has finished many wrestlers with the Delayed Suplex-Driving Legdrop combo. McFly pulled Nicky Champion back up to his feet and signaled for the aforementioned Delorean Driver but Champion fought out of it. Hawkeye hit the living legend with a hard forearm shiver and then backed up to the ropes. He used the ropes for momentum and came off with a huge Flying Lariat Clothesline that connected flush and suddenly the wind got sucked out of the room as McFly clutched at his neck on the mat. Champion made the cover but McFly was quick to kick out and Champion immediately pulled him to his feet and hit a Leaping Side Suplex that he followed up for the pin again but again McFly kicked out despite the pain that had to be coursing through his neck. That was followed up by a Hangman’s Neckbreaker and a Knee Drop of his own. Nicky Champion was, begrudgingly, attacking his opponent’s weakspot -- the neck. It didn’t matter about the respect, now it was about winning. The crowd understood that because there was nothing dirty about what Nicky Champion was doing. He was just trying to win. Champion hit a DDT and made the cover but McFly kicked out at two.

The crowd applauded as Nicky Champion picked Sean McFly up and threw him through the air with a Fallaway Slam. McFly hit the mat and again Champion made the cover but again McFly kicked out. Champion shook his head. He was impressive. He lifted McFly up and stood behind him. He hoisted McFly up like he was going for an Electric Chair Drop -- not something that is in Nicky Champion’s normal repertoire of moves, but McFly rolled forward and pulled out a move his sister made famous -- the McFly Roll, a version of the victory roll, and Bret Graveson was right there. He made the count.

One

Two

Thre…

No! Just before his hand hit the mat for a third time -- a fraction of an inch -- Champion kicked out and the whole building exploded. This was a babyface versus babyface, immortal versus immortal clash and they were invested in the spectacle of two legends giving it their all. McFly and Champion were both back to their feet and… DELOREAN DRIVER! Sean McFly hit Nicky Champion with the Delorean Driver but the force of supporting Champion’s body with his neck left McFly unable to immediately capitalize. He was selling his neck hard and couldn’t cover. Champion, on the other hand, laid on the mat for several seconds before sitting up. The people gasped and Champion began to nod his head. He was going into a trance. Going into his power up. He got to his feet. Sweaty and bright red from the chops. McFly was back up and went for a thrust kick but Champion caught it and spun him into an Atomic Drop. Then a Powerslam. Then a Short-Arm Clothesline, but he pulled Sean McFly back up and right into a HAWKEYE HAMMER! Champion made the cover.

One.

Two.

Three!

In an exceptional match, Nicky Champion defeated Sean McFly in 19:05 by pinfall with a Hawkeye Hammer. Nicky Champion makes defence number one of the COTT Mid American title.

Senior HPW official Bret Graveson raises Nicky Champion’s arm to the sky. The crowd here in Center Stage @ Studio 65 are on their feet applauding the effort of both men. This was Sean McFly’s first match since breaking his neck and for a man on the wrong side of fifty, he dialed back the clock and showed himself to still be capable of being the man he once was. Nicky Champion sets the belt down on the mat and reaches down to help Sean McFly up. The two men, two legends, two immortals, shake hands and stand in the center of the ring and the crowd applauds both men. Champion and vanquished challenger.

But then the crowd gasps and from the entrance to the building -- not the locker room entry way -- a massive man that they all know comes roaring in. He knocks past security who try to stop him. He hops the ringside barricade and slides into the ring.

SV5X1fA.jpg

It’s Bulldozer Brandon Smith! Former two-time USPW National Champion, three-time USPW Tag Team Champion, COTT World Heavyweight Champion, NYCW Empire Champion, two-time NYCW Tri State Regional Champion, BCG Challenger Series Champion, MAW Champion and Rip Chord Invitational winner. McFly and Champion are staring right at him when a voice screams over a microphone from ringside.

aO4dY56.jpg

Hyatt “Get them!”

The massive Bulldozer quickly hits a big boot to the already weakened Sean McFly and drops him. Champion comes charging at Bulldozer, but Bulldozer ducks under Champion and gets behind him. BACKDROP DRIVER! Nicky Champion was folded in on himself. Bulldozer grabbed Sean McFly -- who was getting back to his feet and delivered three quick hard forearms and then hit him with a Backdrop Driver of his own. He turned his attention back to Nicky Champion. He lifted him back to his feet and hit him with a second Backdrop Driver. Then a third. He pulled the unconscious Champion up and turned him upside down. Tombstone Piledriver! A few security personnel were trying to get in the ring and Bulldozer immediately took them out with big boots. Nicky Champion looked unconscious and Mark Hyatt spoke.

Hyatt, “Second rope!”

The crowd was in stunned silence as Bulldozer pulled the limp body of Nicky Champion to the corner and lifted him up onto his shoulders. He climbed onto the second rope and positioned Nicky Champion. No. He couldn’t be… Yes! A second rope tombstone piledriver! Nicky Champion lay motionless as the locker room cleared out and Bulldozer made his retreat but the damage had been done.

Earnest, “My god. Bulldozer Brandon Smith is here and he just destroyed the Mid American Champion Nicky Champion. He left him lying in a broken heap. We need some medical help out here right now. Folks, I’m sorry, we’re all out of time. I’ve got to go check on Nicky Champion. We’ll see you next week here on Wrestling Spotlight with an update.”

<td style="text-align: left; vertical-align: top;"><span style="text-decoration: underline; color: #ffffff; background-color: #333333;"><strong>3C In Financial Trouble?</strong></span><br /><span style="color: #ffffff;">The reports out of Toronto are that Canadian Combat Chicks, the upstart promotion ran by Yellow Jackal and Phil Vibert is in serious finacial peril.  Despite a hot start with a lot of promotion and signing some of the top women wrestlers in North America, they have struggled over the last two years to maintain that momentum.  With the creditors knocking at the door, 3C could be forced to close up shop or sell to another company.  We here at WNW have heard rumblings that Heartland Pro Wrestling has had preliminary discussions about acquiring some of 3C's talent as a way to bolster their women's division -- which has recently seen the loss of Lacey Montgomery, Black Diamond, Sophie Steele, Mirai Kajahara, and Ruby Bloodstone.  Rumor is that Akari Kawashima, Vera Bull, and Valerie Flores are also on their way out of the company so a deal with 3C to acquire some of their talent -- which includes Lucy Stone-McFly, Urena Frost, The Ice Queen, The Hooligan Sisters and more, could bolster a women's roster that has been besieged.  We will provide more updates as we get them.</span></td>

Gotta love parent-teacher conferences.

Oh yeah. They are my favorite thing in the entire world.

Not really. I absolutely hate them. Not the talking to parent part, just the sheer length of the day.
