My wife still does not understand how I put so many hours into a 'Text game'

'How can you play a game that you don't play anything'

Thats her words.

Hahaha for some reason at work the other week I organised a Microsoft Teams meeting with a mate in another state so I could show him my screen to show him Rimworld and I ended up starting off showing him TEW2016, or “my wrestling game that I keep crapping on about”.

His first response was “so you don’t actually watch the matches?”... good grief.

Ahhhh, we’re in a good place in the timeline of this game’s development when while I’m having my morning coffee I peruse the forum and for the first time there’s more new posts in the “gameplay questions” thread than the “beta reaction thread”!

Absolutely loving the new gimmick system. In the past I would default to whatever gimmick/s was within a worker’s wheelhouse, which could be quite limiting. I like the creativity in this where I’m still somewhat doing the same thing but then getting to actually conceptualise what the exact gimmick is and how creative/unique I want to push it. Have had some great results so far.

I’m hoping the tag team search list is one that gets converted to old style lists. I love the option but can’t use it at the moment as it goes by the coloured list scheme and that’s a crazy amount of clicking. I also wonder if it would be possible to have the two workers in a team’s stats showing when you’re looking at that list? There’s plenty of empty space for it if the technology/code allows for it.

Really enjoying the game. About a month into a TCW save. Going to take that to the 2 month limit and then try a Japanese company to see how the touring schedule feels.

After being up and down and up and down about my enthusiasm for TEW2020, I feel like the cycle ended with being super excited. Every time I play TEW2016 now I notice all the new features that are missing, so I go back to 2020. Then I hit 2 months and go back again :D

My wife has been hearing the same. Now every day she hears "I'm just gonna tweak this mod I converted...you know...get it like my last save." "I'm just gonna...I guess add another ten of the top 500 for each year." "I guess there's no reason I can't get more people's stats/popularity right. heh heh."

Yeah my girlfriend doesn't understand how I can play a text base game and lose track of time

<p>My wife saw my spreadsheet of storyline plans 3 months in advance, with my entire roster, heel/face divide and title holders. One night she typed into it saying something along the lines of 'I wish you put this much time and planning into your family life....'</p><p> </p><p>

Talk about low blows.</p>

That's a biggle. I like some of the new road agent notes for angles and matches. I like that the mat wrestling / submissions / chain wrestling has been narrowed to technical. I like some of the reports I'm hearing on increased depth.</p><p> </p><p> Honestly those are all minor things and if the two TEWs (16 & 20) were side by side (competing titles and both current) and I had to pick just one I think I'd pick 2016. But I also know Adam will make it better.</p><p> </p><p> Why is "current" important? Because I suspect the support / mods / diaries for 2016 will dry up. They are pretty slow now. They'll perk up a bit once 2020 is out of beta but eventually most will switch to 2020 or move on altogether.</p>

I'm glad there's people legitimately excited for the game, but I'm still not there. The game runs well and the gameplay is great, but I'm still disheartened on the silence regarding the major issues we are facing. I'm hoping we'll get an update next week but at this point it sure feels like the major talking points are being ignored.

I agree, it would be nice with a "this is what's going to happen" post from Ryland. I'd like to know whether I'm wasting my time coming here every day, or whether it's worth hanging around to wait for my big issues to be patched.

<p>European promotions trying to "spread their wings" is a major issue for me. Even if you limit them to small they don't stay put. It doesn't matter what era you look at in wrestling, a German/Austrian promotion wouldn't look to promote in Italy or France and likewise for Spanish, Belgian, Dutch, French or Italian promotions not looking to spread.</p><p> </p><p>

Is there any chance we can get a tick box for a promotion to "stay home" or even have the European size development be more in line with Hawaii where medium would be a stronghold in the home region?</p>

I know the product system has been controversial, I can see the complaints people have, and if I was an RW player, or a more knowledgeable wrestling fan (I'd class myself as casual lapsed) I'd possibly have different views on it, but I love it. In 2016, booking SWF/USPW/RAW all felt relatively similar. In this game, looking at the match/angle focus, the lengths needed for things and what fans react to, they feel refreshingly different.</p><p> </p><p> Attributes are fabulous and have the same effect for characters - now it's not just about stats, but do you try and ride the crest of someone who's flavour of the month? Is someone who's generally kinda broken down but is a giving performer more worthwhile than someone in better condition but who's selfish and eats his opponent up? And so many more things. </p><p> </p><p> Similarly, on the fly booking is massive for me and makes things much more immersive - someone got injured in round 1 of a one-night tournament? Okay, call an audible, cancel his semi-final, and have an angle with him forfeiting. Announcers clash horribly? Time for a big strong heel to head down there and beat the heck out of one of them, removing him from the more important matches later on.</p><p> </p><p> Talking to workers is really cool (although possibly overpowered in letting you get some excellent wrestlers at ridiculously low prices) - it's great to be able to persuade someone to move to a new area, or to put another wrestler over. </p><p> </p><p> Improved indie shows are FABULOUS and I can't wait to see the long-term effect it has on wrestler's skills when people in smaller feds are also getting work on the indies regularly. </p><p> </p><p> I know variance is another thing some people won't use, and again, playing RW I possibly wouldn't myself. As a dedicated CV (plus other fantasy mods) player, though, this makes games feel much more unique to me and hugely adds to replayability, especially on Extreme. (Analysis of just how much it changes <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=545898" rel="external nofollow">here.</a>)</p><p> </p><p> Momentum system, now it's been patched to work properly, seems really cool.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Those are the key ones; a few more minor ones.</p><p> </p><p> It's more immersive - social media stuff and wrestlers offering to put people over makes it feel more real, and can change my booking plans.</p><p> </p><p> Changing match types from 1 vs 1 to 1 vs 1 ladder, 2 vs 2 to 3 vs 3, or so on, is a huge time saver. Of course, this is currently negated by the amount of time I'm wasting clicking horrifically small arrows to move a segment up or down the card repeatedly, but I can hope that that'll be changed...</p><p> </p><p> Being able to automatically do different schedules is a huge time-saver for me - I need to check how it works with finances, but for the moment, I love being able to add a ton of shows to ACPW, my favourite fed, with one click.</p><p> </p><p> Searching for tag teams is something I've wanted for over a decade and I'm ridiculously happy it's already in.</p><p> </p><p> Booking analysis warning you about overused workers is a really nice add.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> This definitely isn't me trying to claim the game is perfect - it's not, and Adam wouldn't have put it back unless he was planning on improving it significantly. The changes to the momentum system and to handling workers with popularity slightly bigger than a federation they work for in 2 of the most recent patches have already made a MASSIVE difference, looking at watcher games. I'm really grateful that people are bringing up issues because they're significantly more likely to get fixed now that they are if somebody mentions them in six months time. And I totally understand that things like products, which are a plus for me, may be a dealbreaker for some players.</p><p> </p><p> But for me, that sums up why I don't think I could go back to 16 and enjoy it anywhere near as much now.</p>

Yes, Editor -> Database Details (at the bottom). I started a new game with Major variance and I think that I'll start each new game with that option. I like it to be more alive, different, randomized.
