A Few Introductory Words

Like most of you, I've eagerly awaited the release of TEW 2020.

Like some of you, I've just as eagerly awaited the state the C-Verse would be in.

In the past, I had some attempts at starting long-term games with companies in this beautiful universe, but something was always lacking for me. I've realised that booking small companies (such as APW) wasn't really my thing, and I was never really able to connect with the rosters of the bigger names.

This time around though, it's different. The CWA is simply and purely amazing! While the roster is extremely large, it is full of great characters, men and women with a lot of potential or a great history in professional wrestling. I can't wait to let all of them loose, throw them into twisting and turning storylines, book them in epic matches that the Canadian wrestling scene will talk about for decades, and in the process make this company a force to be reckoned with.

Most things are already laid out. The game obviously already gives me starting storylines that I will roll with for the time being. I'm already thinking about how to book the first couple of shows, which characters I'd like to push, etcetera, and I've decided to use a loose face/heel split. However, it will still take a while before this diary really starts. The simple reason is that I want to wait for the next few patches to fix some potential issues with long-term saves that I'd hate to have in this game because my current plan is to stick with it for as long as possible. Since I'm so excited about this project though, I couldn't wait any longer to at least put out the starting posts.

There are a few things that will happen before the first show. This includes the first POWER 10 and, more importantly, the onset of the "Pick Your Worker" contest. Please have a look at the contest post to learn about what it is in the first place and how to participate if you'd like to be a part of it. Until the draft starts, I'd really love to get as much feedback about it as possible. Do you like the idea? Does it sound fun to you or couldn't you care less? Do you think that the current rule set is balanced or will it heavily favour specific wrestlers and make the whole affair really bland and uninteresting at some point? This is an experiment, I don't have any experience doing it in this context, and I'm open to any suggestions or criticism.

With that out of the way, I hope you'll stay with me until this project really kicks off - and beyond!

100% like the idea of Pick Your Wrestler, it's surprising I can't think of any other instances of it, at least not exactly like this. It's a great idea. Having PYW, Predictions, Power 10 all on top of booking one of the largest rosters in game is a mammoth task you've given yourself but I'll definitely be following.

As Dalton said the presentation is awesome, it's obvious a lot of work has already gone into this.

Excited to see another presentation of CWA. I've had a lot of fun with them because they're such a blank canvas.

I most likely won't participate in the draft because I'm not always so great with staying current for predictions, etc. and I don't want to take lock up a wrestler and not be able to follow through.

That said, I will definitely be subscribing and excited to see where you take it!

Alright I got a chance to read through it all and....wow, this is amazing. The time and energy you put into this is astounding.

Pick Your Wrestler is such a cool concept. The rosters and other info are laid out BEAUTIFULLY. Like honestly man, this might be the most unique dynasty I've ever seen here. Bravo. Hope you get started soon.

I don't know what to say, folks. I'm absolutely stunned and overwhelmed by the amount of responses and the positive feedback! Thank you so much to everyone who's commented so far (and everyone else who's taken their time to read through the starting posts)!

I'll respond to every single comment below, but first of all, I'd like to let you decide how the initial wrestler allocation will take place. Like I've already written in the contest post, I'm not a huge fan of first come, first serve and would prefer a draft-like mode to make the whole affair as fair as possible. However, there are two different ways to do such a draft that come to my mind right now, and of course, if the majority of you still prefers first come, first serve, I'm absolutely fine with doing it that way as well.

Here's a link to a poll that I've created (and an explanation of the options below it). Feel free to vote for your preferred way (or choose "Something else" and tell me what you have in mind!):

STRAWPOLL LINK

a) First come, first serve: Whoever writes me a PM with the name of their preferred wrestler first gets them.

b) Draft with nobody getting duplicates: I'll announce a deadline and everyone who wants to participate will send me a list of wrestlers they'd like to get (haven't decided on the number of wrestlers yet). Starting with the top of the list, they get the wrestler that nobody else has put in this position.

c) Draft with duplicates decided via dice roll: Same as the former, but if more than one participant has put a wrestler in the same position, a dice roll will decide who gets them.

Option b) and c) involve some kind of mind game: You could try and set a very popular wrestler in the first position of your list, but at a relatively huge risk of not actually getting them because at least one other participant could've put it in the same position.

Excited to see how you'll decide!

100% like the idea of Pick Your Wrestler, it's surprising I can't think of any other instances of it, at least not exactly like this. Still a lot to do, but I think it'll be manageable.

Good to have you on board!

I'm excited for this one. You could theoretically pick your wrestler and never leave a comment in this diary again. I think I've spent two or three weeks to iterate over the design and right now it's in a state that I'm really happy with. I've recently started to learn a bit more about CSS, both for work and private use, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to try myself out a bit. I always wanted to make extensive use of graphics in the past (e.g. editing images before uploading them), but doing most of the stuff in CSS actually saves a lot of time, especially in the long run, and I'm really happy with the way it looks right now.

It's great to read how much you like it. Hopefully the show format and everything else will be on a par with what is there already.

Great concept and beautiful presentation. Voted in the poll. My pick is a midcard guy so I don't think he'd get chosen anyway, but we'll see <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The results are 4 votes for Draft with nobody getting duplicates, 3 votes for First come, first serve and 1 vote for Draft with duplicates decided via dice roll. As a result, we'll have a draft for the initial wrestler allocation, and the rules are as follows.

<img class="cwa-infopost-logo" src="https://i.imgur.com/fth8LBq.png">

"Pick Your Wrestler" Drafting Rules

Every reader who wants to participate in the contest sends me a private message until Tuesday, the 23rd of June, containing an ordered list of up to 10 wrestlers (the term "wrestlers" also refers to members of the women's division).

When the deadline has ended, I will go through the lists from the top. For every position, if the name of a worker that has not yet been taken only appears on one list in this position, they are assigned to the participant.

This process is repeated until either all 10 possible list positions have been looked at, or every participant has received a wrestler.

Example:

Participant A and Participant B have put Christian Price on #1, Participant C has put Aaron Knight on #1, Participant D and E have put Cameron Vessey on #1. Only Participant C receives a wrestler in this phase because they're the only one with a unique pick (Aaron Knight).

Participant A has put Aaron Knight on #2, Participant D has put Christian Price on #2, Participant B and E have put Sean McFly on #2. Participant A has a unique pick, but Aaron Knight is already taken. Participant D receives Christian Price because they're the only one who picked them as #2. Participant B and E once again don't receive a wrestler because they both have chosen Sean McFly.

Participant A has put Sean McFly on #3, Participant B has put Shooter Sean Deeley on #3 and Participant E has put Chucky Dorrance on #3 (what the f*ck, E?). All of them have unique picks that have not been taken yet. Since all participants have received a wrestler now, the draft ends.

If you're unlucky and don't receive a wrestler during the draft (which is very unlikely), decide to not participate or miss the deadline, you will of course still be able to take part in the contest! After the draft has ended and the initial wrestler allocations have been announced, we'll transition into an ongoing "First come, first serve" where you can just leave a comment in this thread at any point in time and request a wrestler that is still free. Chances are that the most popular wrestlers are already taken by then, but having multiple prize categories means that midcard and even undercard men and women have a fair shot at winning the contest.

With the rules laid out, I hope that you will be a part of this experiment and wish everyone good luck!

Subscribed, I love this and as someone who has been considered a “Canadian C verse expert” by some I’m really looking forward to this. The first save I started when 2020 was released was with CWA so I can’t wait to see your interpretation of this new company as well as the story unfold.
