putting forward this banger for takas new theme

Thanks KYE. Think I might even prefer that over The Vapours.

That was a matter of time given your username. :D

Yeah. It was always going to happen.

I've enjoyed following along with this, great stuff so far Bigelow Cartwheel. TAKA Michinoku was a good signing. The return of Bam Bam Bigelow is promising also. It's going to be interesting to see where you take this going into 2002 and beyond, as so many talents that went on to be major players in the 2000s just missed out on the opportunity to be in ECW. There really are so many directions you can take this. Have fun!

Thanks Matty. I know what you mean about talent missing out. Heyman has said in interviews that, had they survived, the hardcore would have been toned down in favour of a more athletic contest similar to how ROH worked. That said, I'm not rushing out and getting lots of ROH guys in (though one or two do pop up further down the line). Thanks for reading.

I like the "Wrestler is EXTREME" gimmick :p

Just like AEW does now!

Yeah it's a blatant rip-off. :D

This is good stuff Bigelow and looking forward to see how you push yourself. :D

Thanks man. Well, you’ll see what happens with Bammer’s push in the next post. :D

Another solid show and as usual some thoughts;

Although I've made it clear I'm not really a Bam Bam fan in general I do think he makes for a better champ than Sandman.

I can't see plucky underdog Mikey working for too long 6 years after it first succeeded. Especially coming a couple of years after his work with the Sinister Minister (which was enjoyable).

Taka winning despite his aforementioned short term contract is an interesting choice, hopefully you can convince him to come back.

As for the alumni I would be interesting in seeing - it would include Sabu, Candido, Tanaka or maybe even someone like Johnny Smith.

Gotta say I didn't expect Bam Bam to win right way! I'm interested if Sandman first goes after the belt or after Corino.

Ah, got some news about Sandman. Not good news. Thanks for keeping on coming back man.

I was waiting for those sirens to hit and for New Jack to come out and beat the living shit out of everybody but alas :'(

Honestly, this was an oversight. He should've probably had a role somewhere. But then if it's expected... why do it? I doubt it's the last we'll see of him though.

Is it really ECW though unless we see a Three Way Dance between all of them? :D

This is true. And funnily enough there's a Three Way Dance at the next event. :D

Thanks man. I'm not sure how to comment without giving away too much but I'm very pleased with Bam Bam and Mikey.

I really want TAKA to come back.

And those are great alumni suggestions... and I will say no more.

Hello everyone and welcome to The Styles Report. I’m Joey Styles, bringing you all the hottest news in Extreme Championship Wrestling just days away from our next event, Better Than Ever.

I can confirm that The Sandman, attacked by Steve Corino and defeated by Bam Bam Bigelow for the ECW World Heavyweight title at Natural Born Killaz, is injured. Set to face Steve Corino, Sandman instead could be absent for several ECW events. Left without a match Corino has said he will be attending Better Than Ever regardless.

With rumours of short term deals being completed for outside talent every week, one we can confirm is lucha libre sensation Psicosis. Psicosis makes his return to ECW in a mouth-watering Three Way Dance against TAKA Michinoku and Super Crazy. You do not want to miss that one.

And the second part of our Double Main Event sees the No.1 Contender Mikey Whipwreck challenge our World champion, ‘The Beast From The East’ Bam Bam Bigelow. Bigelow, through his manager Francine, has promised to crush all who stand before him, beginning with Buffalo native Whipwreck.

And that is not all. Continuing their heated rivalry, ‘Prime Time’ Brian Lee has challenged Tommy Dreamer to a match, one on one. Dreamer has accepted and the ECW matchmakers have added the bout to the card.

All this and more. ECW Better Than Ever. September 24. TD Bank Sports Center, CT. Get your tickets from the ECW ticket-line or extremechampionshipwrestling.com.

The Sandman being out just means more room for other stars! Maybe the winner of the three way dance? Or Corino/Dreamer winner.

You could be on to something there.... or completely off the track. :D

I will say though, there is a one-shot coming in next show.

It didn't take long for Bigelow to win the title either. :D

What can I say? I can't help myself. :D

• As promised, Steve Corino comes to the ring to complain about his lack of a match tonight.

Joey Styles: The ECW fans are making it clear to the ‘King Of Old School’ that they’d prefer not to see him wrestle tonight. Wait… who’s this? It’s - "

- “Oh you didn’t know? Your ass better call somebodyyyy!!” -

Joey Styles: “BG James is here?? BG James is here!”

BG James: “Steve Corino, I heard you flapping your gums about how you haven’t got a match tonight. Well, for one night and one night only I welcome you… to the Dogg House! Tonight Corino it’s gonna be you and me, standing nose to nose an’ toes to toes. And if you’re not down with that, well… you know what you can do...”

Bam Bam Bigelow vs Mikey Whipwreck -

As promised, Bam Bam Bigelow squashes Mikey Whipwreck like a bug from the opening bell. Power move after power move, huge clotheslines, even being knocked to the outside and through a table... but still Mikey clings on.

Joey Styles: “Oh my God!!! The fans in attendance here at the TD Bank Sports Center weren’t expecting this as Bam Bam Gorilla Presses Mikey from the ring into the front row!! Mikey’s limp body now being surfed by the fans as Bigelow and Francine look on.”

Back in the ring Bigelow hits another heavy clothesline and Mikey crumples into the mat.

Joey Styles: “We’re only ten minutes into this bout but Mikey Whipwreck looks finished. Bigelow doesn’t have a scratch on him. I don’t think Mikey’s even landed a punch. Bam Bam going up top signalling for the Headbutt… Mikey moved! Mikey moved! Bigelow crashed into the mat and is knocked senseless… Mikey with the schooooolboyyyy…. Two! Three! Mikey Whipwreck is the new ECW World Champion! Francine can’t believe it! Bam Bam doesn’t know where he is! We have a new champion!” <font color="#9912A2">D+</font>

• TAKA Michinoku defeated Super Crazy and Psicosis in a thrilling Three Way Dance. Psicosis was eliminated first by Super Crazy after Moonsaults from both Crazy and TAKA. And then TAKA secured the win - and a standing ovation - with a Michinoku Driver II. <font color="#9912A2">B-</font>

The surprise appearance of BG James was great. Speaking of surprises, you really got me with the Mikey Whipwreck championship victory. I never saw that one coming!

Another strong show Bigelow Cartwheel. Long may this Dynasty continue.

Speechless

:D

Bam Bam is going to absolutely murder Mikey soon

Oh yeah. Big time. I think there may be a rematch lined up.

Is Bam Bam pilled out or something? :p Congrats to Mikey. Also an interesting cameo by BG James. One night only, right?

I don't think he is at this point (though I was expecting it. He is in every other game I've used him in). BG James is one night only yeah. But I wouldn't be against bringing him back.

I'm a little short on storylines at the moment so a few surprise appearances kind of covers for that a little. Thanks for the kind words man.

This is crazy. Mikey the new champ!!!

Wow.

Thanks man, that's what I was going for.

A surprising show. I like it.

Thanks Nobby.

Hello everybody this is The Styles Report with me, Joey Styles, here to tell you that if you missed Better Than Ever… then you really missed out. </p><p> </p><p>

We have a new ECW World Heavyweight champion!! Mikey Whipwreck defeated the huge ‘Beast From The East’ Bam Bam Bigelow and, fans, we are all still in shock. None more so than Bigelow himself - Bam Bam has in his contract a rematch stipulation and that will be our main event for Anarchy Rulz on October 6.</p><p> </p><p>

At our last event we also saw the brutal, opportunistic attack on Tommy Dreamer by The Prime Time Players: Lee, Diamond and Swinger. The beating could have been much worse however if it wasn’t for Balls Mahoney and the returning Axl Rotten! Dreamer has already gone to ECW management and a match has been signed for Dreamer and the Hardcore Chair Swingin’ Freaks to face The Prime Time Players, three on three. This one could get a little bloody.</p><p> </p><p>

And we will also see Kid Kash return and defend the ECW World Television title against Nova. Kash has not been without his injury problems in recent months but is said to be 100% and raring to go for this one.</p><p> </p><p>

All this and more at ECW Anarchy Rulz, October 6, at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City, NJ. Get your tickets from the ECW ticket line or online at extremechampionshipwrestling.com.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Reaaaaaaally dig the format of this diary, concise and to the point!</p><p> </p><p>

I was really surprise at the signing of Bigelow who I don't imagine in 2001 ECW at this point. But him being a transitional champ to Mikey (whom I always loved, especially in his red dyed hair Unholy Alliance time) is really interesting</p><p> </p><p>

I like what you're doing in mixing up young ECW up and comer like Dinero or Kash (ok he's not really young at this point but he never made it) and interesting names like BG James and TAKA.</p><p> </p><p>

Really dig that TAKA/Crazy/Psicosis is your spiritual successor to Guido/Crazy/Tajiri also!</p><p> </p><p>

Keep up the good work <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
