DIASPORA

Tokyo, Japan - DIASPORA (previously Pro Wrestling DIASPORA) was founded in 2010 by a group of breakaway UPJ Junior division stars who had grown frustrated by the way the Matsumoto brothers treated their division. Led by Prime Dragon, Zodiac, Hiroto Nori and Sairento, DIASPORA has become a haven for junior wrestling in Japan. Boasting the strongest roster of Junior talents in Japan, DIASPORA previously also had a decent heavyweight division however this division has been reduced to almost nothing since the retirement of Prime Dragon in 2018.

At one stage, it appeared that DIASPORA would overtake UPJ as the #1 promotion in Japan but the formation of Pro Wrestling HONOUR squeezed DIASPORA's already strained resources. The company has remained a top name in wrestling but the recent closure of HONOUR and the return of Kenta Sonoda to UPJ has put DIASPORA some way back. DIASPORA dropped the words "Pro Wrestling" from its name in 2013. No reason was given for the name change.

- The heat between Kotei Yamato and Sairento continued to build as the two stable leaders look towards their big DIASPORA Super Junior championship match at Genesis Evolution in Tokyo later this month. Yamato's Wrespect and Sairento's Crimson Destiny are brawling all over the place in this wild feud.
- The big draw on Path to Genesis Evolution 5 led to a challenge being made in the backstage comments after the show. Looking to build himself after ending his tag team with Kotei Yamato, Shintaro Hideki called out Hiroto Nori. Hideki wants to prove that he is better than the two-time Super Junior champion and wants to prove it at Genesis Evolution.
- Blood Spider Jr. and KAMIKAZE are poised to be the next challengers for HUSTLE Umiro and Shingo Hashi's Junior Tag Team championship. In their backstage commentary, the HUSTLE ETERNAL duo welcomes the challenge and promise to walk out of Genesis Evolution with their first successful defence of the titles. That's a promise, and in the words of Umiro, "YO-AYYY!".
- Yoshito Ichikawa continues to impress in his matches. The 23-year-old youngster has yet to find his first win but his technique is improving at a rapid pace. He is tiny but tough and may need to wrestle elsewhere for a bit to refine his skills. Only time will tell.

The feared leader of Crimson Destiny looks to fourth Super Junior championship and will stop at nothing to stop Yamato's reign in this new year.

Despite the momentum, Anami raked the eyes and hit the New Blood Rising for the victory.

A huge upset here in Tokyo as the purple haired Kusatsu put the Japanese wrestling legend away in the middle of the ring with the Z-STRIKE. Both teams brought their all in this match but Zeshin put the exclamation point on the finish to put another W in Crimson Destiny's win column tonight.


After the match, Zeshin Kustatsu grabbed a microphone and claimed that his victory over Zodiac was not a fluke and he has embarrased the legend in the very ring that he made famous. Zodiac offered Zeshin some congratulations for the victory but said that this was a one night mistake on his part and that Zeshin is still not on his level. Zeshin obviously disagreed as he hit Zodiac with another Z-STRIKE and left the legend lying in the middle of Ariake Coliseum as Crimson Destiny stood tall.

HUSTLE Umiro, Shingo Hashi, Blood Spider Jr., and KAMIKAZE went to war for the DIASPORA Junior Tag Team championship on this cold night in Tokyo. Crimson Destiny's Frantic Chaos went all out to try and pry the titles from the hands of the heart of HUSTLE ETERNAL but fell short when HUSTLE Umiro fought back and hit the Hustle Brother sliding elbow on the fearless man in facepaint for the victory.


After the match, The Bollywood Knights walked down to the ring with their usual swagger and challenged the champions for a future Junior Tag Team title match. Amaan Singh and Ranjin Vidur want their third reign as champions. Never ones to run away from a challenge, HUSTLE Umiro welcomed the challenge but warned that Xenon will dispatch the disrespectful Wrespect wrestlers. That's a promise. YO-AYYY!

Using the opportunity to prove himself as a singles wrestler after disbanding his team with Kotei Yamato, Shintaro Hideki tried his best to make his mark. Hiroto Nori, however, had other plans as he beat the crap out of Hideki and let him know his place via trash talk. Nori firmly planted the stake in Hideki's beating hear with the Norisoba for the victory.

Despite his 23 years of experience, the hard-hitting Sairento fell just short of winning the Super Junior championship for a fourth time against the always excellent Kotei Yamato. Sairento punished the champion with stiff strikes and head-dropping suplexes but Wrespect's leaders fought back with fire and used his technical expertise to isolate the evil man's legs. That isolation paid off when Yamato locked in the Knightmare Frame submission hold to give Sairento no choice but to tap out.


After the match, Hiroto Nori tried to help Sairento to the back after the loss but the bloodied Sairento refused. He snapped at his fellow Crimson Destiny leader but Hiroto would not take his kindly and snapped back that he is the only Crimson Destiny leader that won their big singles match tonight in Ariake Coliseum. The two men nearly came to blows as the rest of Crimson Destiny had to pull them apart and drag them to the back.


As Crimson Destiny left, Kotei Yamato delivered his show-closing speech. Yamato is proud of his work as Super Junior champion and will not lose the title anytime soon. He and Wrespect will continue to be the very best in DIASPORA. The speech was interrupted by a familiar tune...




BURNING Toyotomi walked down to the ring with his arm bandaged up because of his match earlier that night. Toyotomi congratulated Yamato on the big victory tonight in the famous Ariake Coliseum. That said, Toyotomi wants his third reign as Super Junior champion and officially challenged Yamato to a match here in the Coliseum next month. Yamato accepted the challenge and promised to walk out of Tokyo next month still the Super Junior champion.

Friday, Wk 1, February 2021

Prior to the start of the Pro Wrestling Festival tour, DRAGON Michinoku and Tian Long, co-presidents of the DIASPORA Wrestler Union, called a preference to discuss the plans for March's Dragon Spirit tournament. After meeting with DIASPORA head office, it was determined that this year's tournament will feature every single active wrestler on the roster in a 32-man single-elimination tournament. The semi-finals and the finals will take place in the beloved Ariake Coliseum at the end of March. The winner of this year's Dragon Spirit tournament will challenge for the DIASPORA Super Junior championship in April in the main event of the Sakura Blossom show at the Coliseum.

If Kotei Yamato - or BURNING Toyotomi depending on the results of the championship match at the Pro Wrestling Festival - wins the tournament as champion, he will get the opportunity to name his challenger for Sakura Blossom.

The tournament brackets will be released after the Pro Wrestling Festival in Ariake Coliseum. Until then, DIASPORA fans are invited to post their early favourite to win on Flipper using the fin-tag #DragonSpirit2021.

9/9 baby! Wow Still don't have a clue about most guys but I liked the first show. Seeing a dispute inside Crimson Destiny is a good cliffhanger for the next upcoming shows and tours. Toyomi as the next challenger sound like a filler defense to me as someone who didn't played much T-Verse so far, but I could be horrible wrong here.

- The ProWres Festival is always a fun time but two men were hyper-focused on their business in the ring leading up to the Tokyo festival at the end of the month. Super Junior champion Kotei Yamato worked with his Wrespect cohorts to fight against Yamato's challenger BURNING Toyotomi. While there is some respect between the champion and challenger, they traded wins all tour long and will bring their absolute best when they wrestle for the title.

- After his big win at Genesis Evolution in Ariake Coliseum, Zeshin Kusatsu continued his campaign of claiming he's embarrassed Zodiac. In his pre-match promos, Zeshin loudly suggested that Zodiac hang up the boots because Kusatsu has taken his place at the top of the food chain here in DIASPORA. Zeshin does not respect DIASPORA's long history, including Zodiac's contributions. Not one to sit back and take any crap, especially from youngers, Zodiac stepped up and challenged Zeshin to a battle of respect at the ProWres Festival on the hallowed grounds of the Coliseum. Zeshin accepted and promised to put the old man in his place - six feet under buried under the famous arena - and make his mark as the next big thing in DIASPORA.

- Crimson Destiny worked well together on this tour but the tension was thick between leaders Sairento and Hiroto Nori. While they bickered back and forth in the ring when teaming together, they did manage to put aside their difference to execute some beautiful double team moves and lead their stable to some victories. This unholy alliance might have a few holes in there and it's taking on some water to the point that sinking is a very real possibility.
