Episode 3

Wednesday, Week 2, FEBRUARY 2020

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Calling the action: Steve Smith and Dane Rowley

Location: Euston Road

Attendance: 10,000 (SELL OUT!)

Overall Rating: 66

(got hit with the ‘Not Enough Interesting Storylines’ note after this show… for the first time since early January… Two storylines dropped below the threshold by one point… It’s really hard to score well with 21CW)

image.jpeg

We opened the show with confirmation that Tommy Cornell wouldn’t be here tonight, after being taken out by Leigh Burton last week… Kingdom General Manager and Match Maker Colin Chalke was on our screens to kick us off…

image.jpeg

Colin Chalke: “Tommy Cornell is absent, but that doesn’t mean a thing… He’ll be back for World War… Where he’ll take on Leigh Burton 1 on 1…!! Matter of fact… He’ll be back next week!!”

Speaking of men who had missed a show due to an unprovoked attack, Daniel Black Francis returned to the ring in the first match of the night… battling Loxley Robbins from Ozzie Invasion…

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

‘DBF’ Daniel Black Francis [vs] Loxley Robbins w/ Blake Belushi and The Brat Pack

Excellent performance from a fired up Daniel Black Francis here. He made this one into more of a fight than he normally would, but he was in there fighting for his life. The fan favourite had the match won late on, but just as he was closing in on the victory, Blake Belushi delivered a well-placed thumb to the eye from the apron. This allowed Loxley to hit his ‘Butterfly Powerbomb’ and pin ‘DBF’.

64

image.jpeg

We cut to a pre-taped video next, showing a dusty, deserted, street straight out of ‘Anytown USA’… The camera lowered to the ground, and someone stepped over it… so it was filming the back of somebody’s feet… The feet began to walk, and we soon figured out we were watching a Cowboy…

image.jpeg

The tall, toned, man wondered slowly into the distance, before greeting a lady walking past…

Cowboy: “Howdy, ma’m…”

The video ended with the caption: ‘Cowboy’ Buck Winchester… is on his way to 21CW…

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Gorilla Lee & JK Lee w/ Andrew Lee [vs] Edison Silva & Kelvin Badberry

Not much ‘wrestling’ in this one. JK Lee is a great grappler, but he got beaten up by Silva and Badberry for most of it, before tagging in his fellow ‘Lee FamiLee’ member Gorilla Lee, who cleaned up. Gorilla’s ‘Mighty Avalanche’ where he steps on his opponent’s chest, and jumps down into a splash, is devastating, and it was enough to stop Badberry here.

42

image.jpeg

Another pre-taped video next, this time with DJ Reason teaching Dangermouth some more wrestling skills…

image.jpegimage.jpeg

DJ was instructing Dangermouth to ‘run the ropes’… and then drop down and do some ‘Burpees’… The former grime artist was loving his training, but it was clear he was starting to struggle a little…

DJ Reason: “You wanna be a fat, bum… like Brickhouse Balder…?! Get up, and KEEP runnin’…”

Dangermouth got up, and he kept running… His debut should be very soon…

image.jpeg

Next up, we headed to the office of General Manager and Match Maker Colin Chalke… who was standing by for an announcement…

image.jpeg

Colin Chalke: “At World War… in just over a week… we’re going to see THREE new Championships won… The first, the 21CW World Heavyweight Championship… which will be contested for, by Wade Orson and Buff Martinez… Both men EARNING the right to challenge for it… As for the rest…”

image.jpeg image.jpeg

Chalke stepped to the side, to reveal two new Championship Belts… the 21CW Kingdom National Title… and the 21CW Kingdom Tag Team Titles… (Credit again to BestForTheBusiness)… Chalke proudly looked over the Belts…

Colin Chalke: “At World War… since they can’t stay out of each other’s business… Daniel Black Francis will compete against Blake Belushi of Ozzie Invasion… for the National Title… and the Kingdom Tag Titles, will be defended in a Fatal Four Way Match…!!”

Chalke confirmed the four teams would be: Crouching Storm, Hidden Sifu… The Brat Pack (Artemis Eyre-Rochester and Thurston Darcy III)… The Underdogs (Michael X and Joe Simpson)… and the in-form Lee FamiLee: Gorilla Lee and JK Lee… The match will be one fall… first team to make a pin or submission gets the Titles…!!

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpeg

‘The Immovable Object’ Brickhouse Balder [vs] War Machine w/ Cliff King

A very short match here, but one which had plenty of high-impact collisions. War Machine tried everything to knock Brickhouse off his feet early on, and eventually landed the killer blow when he went to the knee from behind. From then on, it was a beatdown, and Machine managed to hit a variation of his ‘Choke Bomb’ (Batista Bomb) finisher.

50

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Backstage, the tag team known as Crouching Storm, Hidden Sifu were stood for a promo, and they spoke directly to the camera…

Ricky Storm: “We’ve been added to the Four Way at World War… for the NEW Kingdom Tag Team Titles… As soon as our names were mentioned… the chances of the other three teams winning, were…”

Sifu: “Oh… Ver…!!”

Sifu is a man of few words, and he kept it brief tonight… at World War, they have the chance to become Four-Time Tag Team Champions in 21CW… a feet that no other tag team has achieved thus far… Absolutely Flawless over on United have the same opportunity…

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Landon Mallory [vs] ‘The King of the Cruiserweights’ Phil Harmonic

Three wins in three matches for Landon Mallory, as he continued his climb up the 21CW ranks here. Phil Harmonic has a bright future, but the 18 year old made a crucial error, and walked onto a ‘Springbok Ram’ (Spear) in the end.

50

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpeg

In the locker room, Mark Misery and Smiling John Smithie were talking about how awful things were… when Vicki Company walked in…

Vicki Company: “Urgh… You two are so similar… You should just form a tag team already…!!”

The two miserable men looked at each other and shrugged… before Mark Misery, unsure about the idea, said:

Mark Misery: “Eh…”

It wasn’t a ‘No’… but neither man seemed excited about it… Not that they ever seem excited about anything… Misery Loves Company... so you never know...

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpegimage.jpeg

The Underdogs (Michael X & Joe Simpson) [vs] The Brat Pack (Thurston Darcy III & Artemis Eyre-Rochester) w/ Blake Belushi & Loxley Robbins

It’s hard to hate the four Australians of Ozzie Invasion, as they play their characters so well, and their matches are always top drawer. However, they treat fan favourites with such disdain, and when those fan favourites are the much loved Underdogs, the crowd are always going to boo them. In the end, Artemis hit his ‘Brat Packer’ Back Stabber on Simpson to win it.

61

After the match was over, Ozzie Invasion grabbed microphones… They had something to say…

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Blake Belushi: “Hey Loxley… People wanna know our motivation… WHY, are we here…?! WHY, are we attacking people like Daniel Black Francis, and Tommy Cornell…?!”

Loxley Robbins: “It’s because those two… and others… have been stealing a living, for YEARS, mate…”

Blake Belushi: “Listen, Tommy Cornell, was amazing in the mid-2000s… WAS… Amazing… He’s not anymore…”

Loxley Robbins: “He’s ancient… He takes over a week to recover from getting kicked in the d**k… Step aside Tommy… Before we PUSH you off the pedestal you’re currently put up on…!!”

The arrogant group left the ring… and passed ‘The Most Dangerous Man In Britain’ Bedlam as they left… who was on his way out for the Main Event… They gave him plenty of space, and he completely ignored them…

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Wade Orson [vs] ‘The Most Dangerous Man In Britain’ Bedlam

Orson and Bedlam gelled well as opponents here, despite their styles being very similar. Both men are brawlers, but Orson’s engine was what won it for him in the end. Bedlam tired late on; not used to going as long as the 19+ minutes this one went. Bedlam had spent large portions of the match expending energy with powerful throws and hip tosses, so when Orson started rolling late on, the youngster had to go on the defensive – something he’s not used to. In the end, Orson came off the ropes to hit his ‘Bounce Back’ (Pounce) finisher while Bedlam was struggling to get up, and despite his near 300lb size, he went flying!

73

After the match, Orson grabbed a microphone…

image.jpeg

Wade Orson: “Next week… Buff Martinez is facing Tommy Cornell in the Main Event… And after that match… Buff WILL shake my hand… He WILL show me respect…”

Orson stomped to the back as the show went off the air…

Totally forgot to post this... Put it down to my lack of sleep (we had our second baby earlier in the week! - a healthy, happy little boy called Connor :D )

The prize for this month's Prediction Contest will be two-fold: I'll be doing my normal Booking Decision prize... AND something I stole from Boltinho years ago - you'll get to choose a piece of 21CW Merch for me to release !!

The part I was going to add to the prediction card though, was this:

What Sign would you have if you were in the crowd?...

More importantly, congratulations on the birth of your son!

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Episode 3

Wednesday, Week 2, FEBRUARY 2020

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Calling the action: Des Greeves, Martin Bloydell and Jeff Nova

Location: Euston Road

Attendance: 10,000 (SELL OUT!)

Overall Rating: 72

image.jpeg

We kicked off the show with the group known as the House of Business… and a familiar face had returned…

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Edward Cornell: “Ladies and Gentlemen… give it up… for… DOOMSDAY…!! He’s back, yes he is…!! But… as excited by that as I am… I can’t help but feel… troubled… JEFF NOVA… Another Triple Threat Match to defend the Gold… Are you crazy?!”

Nova stood up from the announce desk, and reminded Cornell that he’s in charge on United…

Jeff Nova: “Ah’ll tell ye what Corny… Ah know ya hate Triple Threat matches… so how aboot tonigh’ you have a singles match…!! Agains’ a certain, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roller’… An’ as for you BW Eddie… While yous are out here… You can have a singles match too… against this man…!!”

image.jpeg

The music of the big, bad Assassin hit… BW Eddie’s head lolled forwards… He knew he was in for a rough night…

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Assassin [vs] BW Eddie w/ Edward Cornell, Viktor Beskov, Yuri Iliakov and Doomsday

Assassin was badly outnumbered here, and BW Eddie used his team to good effect early on. But between the ropes, Assassin outweighs Eddie by over 40lbs. He used his size and power advantage to squash Eddie in the end, putting him away with his ‘Point Blank’ Big Boot.

47

image.jpeg

Once the ring was cleared, plucky underdog Cain Carlisle headed through the curtain…

image.jpeg

Cain Carlisle: “I want ANY member of Hellbound… RIGHT… NOW…!!”

Cain was attacked by Hellbound following his debut last week… and he was here for revenge… This was a case of ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ though… because Hellbound arrived… and Carlisle’s opponent was revealed…

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpegimage.jpeg

‘Captain Crash’ Cain Carlisle [vs] Grave Digger w/ Jonathan Faust and Blackheart

Almost as one sided as it gets here. Carlisle is a lot of fun to watch, as he flies around the ring and uses his body as a weapon. But it had little to no effect on the behemoth Grave Digger here. Mercifully, after a 6 minute beat down, the Hellbound member hit ‘R.I.P’ (Piledriver) and picked up the win.

47

image.jpeg

We cut backstage, to where Sebastian Koller and J-B Cash bumped into one another…

image.jpeg image.jpeg

J-B Cash: “Heard the news, geeza…?! Me an’ you are goin’ 1 on 1 at World War… The winner, gets a World Title shot… How about that then?!”

Sebastian Koller: “Yeah, sounds about right… (Jeff) Nova clearly wants a ‘Rock ‘N’ Roller’ to be the next Champ… and who can blame him…?!”

J-B Cash: “Eeeeazy there big fella… One thing you’re forgettin’ is you gotta go through me… May the best man win…”

Cash outstretched his hand for a handshake… Koller accepted, but Cash pulled away at the last second… running his hand through his hair, and walking off arrogantly… Huge match booked for World War, and with Koller fighting current 21CW Champion Edward Cornell later tonight, could that be a preview of things to come…?!

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpeg

‘The Real Angel of the North’ Nate Manchester [vs] Langton Herring w/ Compton Valence

Compton and Langton gave Nate Manchester a lot of stick for his nickname, since they too are fellow Geordies. Every time Langton got on top, he posed and shouted that HE was the ‘Real Angel of the North’. He put Manchester away with his ‘Choke Bomb’ (Standing Batista Bomb) to win it.

41

image.jpeg

Next up, we got a promo from ‘The Squashasaurus’ and current United Kingdom Champion: Roly Muckletruck…

image.jpeg

Roly said that last week, he was trying to have a little fun, and help out his pals: Beau Boulder and Darin Flynn, as they try to get to the bottom of the disappearance of Beast Bantom…

Roly Muckletruck: “Bu’ then Antithesis does THAT?! Comes in… Attacks us all… Look pal… If ye wan’ed a shot, ah’ll give yaz a shot… See ya at Weld War, pal…!! And then after ah’m done SQUASHIN’ you… Ah can get back to tryin’ ta find Beast Bantom…”

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Luke Cool & Rolling Johnny Stones [vs] Men Of Steel (Mark Adonis & Mass Hulk)

Both teams showed great chemistry here, Cool and Stones are former 21CW Tag Team Champions together from eleven years ago. They were bested by two big, strong, young bulls in the current Champs: Men of Steel here. Mark Adonis won it for his team with his impressive Adonis Elbow (Judas Effect).

51

After the match, Men Of Steel exited the ring, and passed their opponents for World War and challengers for their Titles: Absolutely Flawless on the ramp…

image.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpeg

The Martin Twins were on their way to the ring for tag team action themselves… and have promised to end Adonis and Hulk’s reign as Champions, and become the first every four-time 21CW Tag Team Champions… There is one man who has won the Gold 4 times himself, and that’s Leo Price… Price, a veteran of 21CW has agreed to be in their corner at World War…

As the two teams passed one another, Adonis could be heard saying “follow that, boys!”… a challenge that Lance and Kelly Martin gladly accepted…

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Absolutely Flawless (Lance & Kelly Martin) [vs] Phillip Cooper & Apollo Prince

On paper, Absolutely Flawless were the underdogs going into this one. Cooper and Prince are both destined for the Main Event of United, but couldn’t get along here. Their lack of cohesion was the complete opposite of the brothers who have been a tag team since the womb. Lance Martin pinned Cooper in the end, with his ‘Body Rocker’ (Flying European Uppercut).

60

image.jpeg

For the last couple of weeks, we’ve been seeing videos to hype the arrival of ‘The Unsung Hero’ of wrestling… Chuck Frisby…

image.jpeg

This third video saw Chuck alone in a hot tub, while the American voiceover made reference to the fact that we haven’t seen him in a 21CW ring for eleven, long, years… But that he’d be back ‘soon’… In this video, a young couple came towards the hot tub… The gentleman was clearly not in amazing shape… and Chuck let him know…

Chuck Frisby: “Umm… Excuse me, sir… Ya lazy bum… I’d appreciate it if you didn’t get in here with me… when you’re looking like that!! She can stay, but you… just go… OH, and just so you know, I’m here to… tackle the UK’s Obesity Crisis… One lazy bum at a time…!!”

The couple left, offended and infuriated… Frisby’s cocky smile was instantly hateable… ‘The Unsung Hero’ arrives in 21CW in two weeks…

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg w/ image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

‘The Rock ‘N’ Roller’ Sebastian Koller [vs] Edward ‘The Business’ Cornell w/ The House of Business

An excellent Main Event here, and if this is indeed a future World Title Match, it’ll be an enjoyable one. Koller mad an impressive start, but much like Assassin against BW Eddie earlier on, he was badly outnumbered. BW, Doomsday, and The Red Devils did some stellar work at ringside, always behind the referee’s back, and timed to perfection. Every time Koller looked to get back into the match, he was taken down or distracted by the group, and couldn’t get rolling. In the end, Cornell took his time, and eventually hit his ‘Black Lightning Bomb’ (Blue Thunder Bomb) to win it.

75

After the match, Cornell’s troops decided to attack Sebastian Koller… A move that Cornell didn’t seem to endorse, but equally, wasn’t upset about…

image.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Cornell’s eyes lit up when the music of Adam Matravers hit… and the fan favourite sprinted to the ring to help Koller, who was being attacked 5 on 1…

image.jpeg

Matravers is one of Cornell’s opponents in the Triple Threat at World War… but he didn’t need to come and help Koller… Soon, the beatdown was 5 on 2, and the 5 were very much in control… But the 2 got some more help… when out rushed the experienced tag team: Kenobi High…

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Christopher Lister and Jase Cole hit the ring to even the odds, and Cornell and co. only stood and fought them for a few moments… Now 5 on 4, the House of Business decided to retreat, despite still having the numbers advantage… Koller thanked his saviours, as Jeff Nova confirmed a couple of matches for next week, from the announce desk…

Jeff Nova: “Followin’ on from all that… we’re gonna see Kenobi High take on BW Eddie an’ Doomsday… And… In tha Main Event… Edward Cornell can team with J-B Cash… ta take on Adam Matravers an’ Sebastian Koller…!!”

Martin Bloydell: “Promises to be a great show, Jeff… Awesome to be here as always, and we’ll see you next week!!”

Congrats buddy that's great! You going from talking about his name right to the prediction prize worried me we'd be winning the right to pick his middle name.

Are you even serious about this project if you haven't gone for Connor Cornell?

Good luck with the sleep. Card starting to look great for Weld Wurr

Weld :D Typing in a Scottish accent is so much fun :D

It's actually Connor Muckletruck! Prefers breast milk to IRN BRU, and we've nicknamed him the 'Napasaurus'...

Episode 4

Wednesday, Week 3, FEBRUARY 2020

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Calling the action: Steve Smith and Dane Rowley

Location: Euston Road

Attendance: 10,000 (SELL OUT!)

Overall Rating: 77

image.jpeg

We kicked off the final Kingdom before World War, with Leigh Burton in the ring… ‘The British Lion’ wasn’t here to mess around, he wanted to speak directly to Tommy Cornell (but didn’t want to wait too long in case he came to the ring)…

image.jpeg

Leigh Burton: “Yeah so, Tommy mate… I’m sorry about attacking you, and… I guess we’re fighting at World War… but… I need to go, so…”

He was just about to finish and get the hell out of there, but Tommy Cornell’s music hit before he could… and ‘Rough Justice’ stomped to the ring with a purpose…

image.jpeg

Burton met Cornell on the ramp, but Cornell double-legged him and took him down… The ground and pound was vicious, but Burton covered up well and managed to squirm out and SPRINT up the ramp to the safety of the stage… Cornell decided not to give chase, knowing he’ll get another chance at World War… Instead he slid into the ring and picked up the microphone that Burton dropped…

Tommy Cornell: “Hey Burton… I ain’t your mate… I’m gonna get my hands on you proper this Saturday, and I promise it won’t hurt a bit… Because it’ll hurt a LOT… See you at World War, son…!!”

image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Welsh Dragon [vs] Stevie ‘Smasher’ Stoat

Awesome match to open the show here, with Welsh Dragon showcasing his brilliant high-flying ability. Stoat hates all that ‘flippy s**t’ though, and soon put a stop to it, dominating the masked 195lber. He put the Dragon away with a Super Kick as he came off the top rope.

52

image.jpeg

We cut to another pre-taped promo next, of ‘Cowboy’ Buck Winchester… this time boarding a train in his native Dallas, Texas…

image.jpeg

He hopped on the train, and leaned out the door… removing his Stetson and waving at a lady who was waiting at the station…

Buck Winchester: “Howdy Ma’am…”

‘Cowboy’ gave a little wink to the lady, and we’re due to meet him on 21CW ‘soon’…

The Lee FamiLee w/ Andrew Lee & Emmett Askey [vs] Mark Misery & Smiling John Smithie w/ Vicki Company

Two undercard tag teams battling it out here, and a lot of the fans were a little switched off. Luckily, Gorilla Lee was his usual entertaining self. His amazing ‘Mighty Avalanche’ finisher, where he stepped on ‘Smiling’ John Smithie, and then fell into a splash got a big pop and won the Lee FamiLee the match.

36

After the match, the Ozzie Invasion pairing of Artemis Eyre-Rochester and Thurston Darcy III hit the ring, and took all three of the Lees out… But soon they got some help from The Underdogs (Joe Simpson and Michael X)…

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpeg

Simpson and Michael fought The Brat Pack 2 on 2, as two of the teams competing for the new 21CW Kingdom Tag Team Titles were soon joined by The Lee FamiLee again… as a three way war broke out… Then the fourth contenders arrived… Crouching Storm, Hidden Sifu…!!

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Storm super kicked just about everyone, and Sifu hit his ‘Roaring Back Fist’ (Double spinning back fist) on everyone else… Then came the moment of the night, as Storm hit his ‘Storm Bringer’ German Suplex on Gorilla Lee… The pair of young tag team specialists stood in the ring, and Storm grabbed a microphone…

Ricky Storm: “I hit ‘Storm Bringer’ at World War… and the hopes of these three other teams will BEEEeee…”

Sifu: “Ooooover!!”

Landon Mallory [vs] Ruin w/ Nightmare

Landon Mallory faced his toughest test to date here, against the big, mean, Ruin. Luckily, the powerful South African is also fast, and he stayed out of Ruin’s grasp for the most part. In the end, he chopped the big Welshman down with his ‘Springbok Ram’ (Spear) to score another impressive win.

‘DBF’ Daniel Black Francis came to the ring next, and was joined by his two opponents: Blake Belushi and Loxley Robbins of The Ozzie Invasion… and Francis confirmed he’d found a partner for their tag team match…

image.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpeg

Daniel Black Francis: “Yeah mon…!! I have found maself a partner… Come on out, big mon…!!”

Francis pointed to the stage and didn’t have to wait long… His impressive partner: Brickhouse Balder made his entrance, a fact that made Belushi and Robbins quiver and take a couple of steps back…!!

image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Daniel Black Francis & Brickhouse Balder [vs] Blake Belushi & Loxley Robbins

The story of this one, was Ozzie Invasion attempting to avoid Brickhouse Balder at every opportunity. The big Frenchman eventually tagged in, and almost took Belushi’s pretty little head off when he did, with a huge lariat. He threw his considerable weight around well, and managed to claw back some of the momentum after DBF was dominated and controlled by the Australians. In the end though, with Francis back legal, and some cheating, Belushi rolled him up to score the win using the tights!

On Commentary:

Steve Smith: “Those pesky Australians… Always cheating to win, Dane…!!”

Dane Rawley: “What a victory…!! How can you blame them, Steve…?! They’ve come here to kick butt, and bew chugglegum… and they’re all out of chugglegum…!”

Rawley once again got too excited, and his accidental spoonerisms took hold… He must wonder what happens after he says a line like that, and Steve Smith just shakes his head and doesn’t respond… Does he watch the shows back?! Who knows…

image.jpeg

Next up, we saw a promo package for Cliff King’s War Machine…

image.jpegimage.jpeg

This combination has been going from strength to strength lately, and the video showed just how dominant the Machine has been… With wins over Ricky Storm, Sifu and even Brickhouse Balder, War Machine is undefeated in 2020, and only lost one match in the whole of 2019… And even that was after a 6 month reign as United Kingdom Champion in 2018…

On Commentary:

Steve Smith: “He looks unstoppable at the moment, Dane…”

Dane Rawley: “I love this guy, Steve… He bulldozes people… He’s surprisingly agile… He packs a punch… and he’ll eat ya for lunch…!! How about that for a Fatch Craze…!?”

Steve Smith: “I mean… Yeah…!!”

‘The Neanderthal’ Andrew Lee w/ Emmett Askey [vs] ‘The MVP’ Kevin Jones

We got singles action next, between Lee and Jones, with the Lee FamiLee member only accompanied to the ring by Emmett Askey following Gorilla and JK’s involvement in the tag team brawl earlier on. Askey is an excellent manager, but he wasn’t as effective as the full complement of the Lees being at ringside. In the end, Lee was staggered when he hit the turnbuckle head first missing a splash in the corner, and Jones hit his Belly-To-Belly Overhead Suplex, winding and then pinning ‘The Neanderthal’.

We cut to a pre-taped video package for the young former rapper Dangermouth next, who was stood behind his mentor DJ Reason… and they spoke directly to the camera…

image.jpegimage.jpeg

DJ Reason: “Are you guys, ready…?? Because you don’t look ready… But, my friend… my… protégé… Dangermouth, IS ready…!!”

Dangermouth: “DJ, I was BORN ready… I was BORN… to do this (wrestling)…”

DJ Reason: “You were, you were… you needed a little ‘seasoning’ in places from me… but you’re ready now… Ready to debut…!!”

Dangermouth: “In one week, dog… It’s MY time…!! The world, is gonna get their eyes opened…!!”

In one week, Dangermouth will make his 21CW television debut… at just 20 years old, and less than a year in the business…

‘Rough Justice’ Tommy Cornell [vs] ‘The Barcelona Bull’ Buff Martinez w/ Kathleen Lee

Main Event time now, and the final Kingdom match before World War. Buff Martinez has a huge opportunity on Saturday to win his first singles Title in 21CW, and a World Title for that matter. Remarkably, it’ll be his first Title in almost 10 years! But he has to go through Wade Orson first. And before that, he had the small task of facing the best wrestler on the planet: Tommy Cornell. It was a great match, and despite Cornell’s rival Leigh Burton showing up late on to try and put Tommy off, the veteran was still able to pick up a big win with his ‘Guilt Trip’ (Russian Leg Sweep).

81

After the match, Martinez’s opponent for Saturday, Wade Orson, headed to the ring… Tommy Cornell and Leigh Burton stuck around…

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpeg

The crowd cheered Orson’s arrival loudly… and he was out there to get a handshake from Buff Martinez, who so far has refused…

Wade Orson: “You gonna do it, Buff…?! You gonna shake my hand, and have a classic match with me…?! Or are we gonna have a FIGHT at World War…?! The kind of fight, where we HATE each other… want to KILL each other… and RIP that new World Heavyweight Title from each other’s cold, dead, fingers…!!”

Buff pulled himself to his feet in the corner, and walked over to Orson… getting in his face as Cornell stood watching behind them… (almost as if to signal that he’ll face the winner!!)… Burton was on the outside of the ring, and winding the situation up by shouting at Martinez NOT to shake his hand… Things were tense… It looked like they were going to fight, and an all out brawl was about to break out… But Buff had other ideas…

He offered a handshake of his own, through gritted teeth, in a sense… Orson of course accepted it, and smiled… The Main Event for World War, for the NEW World Heavyweight Title, is set…!!

I had to double check Dane's bio and the spoonerism's explained everything! "Muff Bartinez" cracked me up.

I had an epic 21CW save with TEW'16-- The brand split, and the branding, is so good. I did the same but I just called it Raw and Smackdown [shameful] because I couldn't think of names...

There is loads of talent in 21CW but it was too monster heavy for me with similar types of menace and I ended up releasing a lot of them. But you're doing a good job in separating them and also building up an interesting mid-card-- I really like the Misery Loves Company tag team and the FamiLee gimmick.

In my save there were mega stars to be had-- Seb Koller, Phillip Cooper, DBF, Buff Martinez & Faust all became excellent talents, alongside the Cornells obviously. Leigh Burton just never got over as much and Wade Orson suffered a broken leg working a TCW event via talent exchange 2 days after winning his first world title and he just never got back up there. Also, Luke Cool and RJS also turned out to be excellent putting on regular A ratings. So, I'm looking forward to seeing how you develop them all together and once the momentum gets going with 21CW it'll probably shift from making sure you have an interesting lower-mid card because the main event will be popping.

I also raided RAW [and PGHW/QAW] as well, so its fun to see you doing the same.

Lastly, I know you said at the start you struggle booking women's divisions, but it can become main-event worthy quickly. And doesn't need to be a "division" straight away [or ever]-- Zofia Jankovich fits in well with The Red Devils, Thea Davis as Leigh Burton's plucky girlfriend, Jeri Behr suits Luke Cool/Absolutely Flawless etc.

Thanks for your thoughts my friend, always nice to get this kind of feedback on a diary :)

Yeah Dane is fun to write for, for that reason. I always try to make them funny, but sometimes nothing fits and he just mixes a couple of words for no reason! Ha!

Agreed on the monster heavy thing. I've already got a couple of 300lb+ guys in tag teams (Men of Steal, Demolishers, Viktor Beskov), I've added Gorilla Lee, and then Nightmare and Ruin as a team... and I'll be adding a couple more to that line up soon. Booking Gorilla in a more comedic role (despite him not being funny once so far!) is a way to differentiate him from the pack.

In my previous 21CW save I used the name Fight Club as one of my brand names... I think it was around the time of RAW Dark, and I booked something similar with a black and white colour scheme, and mostly dark characters. Aldous Blackfriar did well when he debuted on Fight Club, but a lot of the guys you mentioned there did well too. DBF and Apollo Prince were standouts, along with Koller and Roly!

The women's division thing is my own shortcomings really... but I feel, let's say, to have a successful 'division', you need 10-12 women... Each week, I tend to book/write 6 matches, 8 ish segments... I'd have to give up 1 match, and at least 2 segments to the women's division... and still only use 5 or 6 women... so half the roster wouldn't be important enough to be on TV every week... I find it hard to integrate it into the men's division... THAT SAID... I could see myself bringing in a handful of women into a project one day, and booking inter-gender stories... Why not 21CW? There's no women's division in the country!

Agreed-- my division formed after a year or so when the overness was up. Happy to be on-call writer for it 🤪
