I am looking to get this out to the masses Friday/Saturday. So much has gone into this update I'm not sure there is much more we can add at this stage so (with the exception of any game breaking mistakes) I may leave you all to play this version for a while. Gives me time to finish my Diablo X update then.

Good news! I was hoping to restart TEW 2020!

I do have a question, the last time I played the mod I had a very long save (until 1999) and a lot of promotions didn't run show because they were on "strict schedule", is it still the case?

Thank you.

Several cases where this was previously missed have been fixed. IWA Japan will no longer die by its inability to run shows, for example

I noticed that CMLL's Japan pop being 30 across the board allows the AI to sign on with TV Osaka, which leads to them (at least in this save) reaching 72 pop in Japan by mid 1996. Thought this was worth mentioning.

Thanks... that will be getting looked into then. I think most stations in Japan need to only be options for Japanese companies. Once I've dealt with this issue (and providing nothing else crops up before I go out) I will release this around 12/1pm UK time today.

But then you don't want companies to be only able to expand outside of their country if they own a broadcaster

True. Which is why it has taken me an hour to try and get a fine balance between completely shutting out and allowing select companies to get deals (I'm still not overly happy with how it is working).

To be honest though, with the small exception of WWF, Japan doesn't show a lot of Wrestling from outside of its own borders and most companies are only known through working relationships they have with Japanese companies. (Even AJPW & NJPW only show tour highlights and Event/PPVs on TV. They don't have weekly episodes like WWE Raw/Smackdown).

This sent me down the proverbial rabbit hole and it turns out, Wrestling isn't big all over the country. The biggest markets are Tokyo, Osaka and Kobe, but we would destroy the entire Japanese area if we went down that route. From the last hour of research I've done, the way Japan works is not "game friendly" so exceptions have to be made. In other words, everything has been left as is, but with only certain Broadcasters available to show non-Japanese wrestling events.

Just doing one last test "watcher" game to see how it goes. If it has huge issues then I'll have to think of something else (but it will delay release as I am going out soon and won't be back until around 8/9).

Some Notes:
===============
- Japan Woman Pro-Wrestling held their last show in January of 1992. Instead of adding them as a company, I have added them as a 1 off tribute show so they still hold the last event.
- Stampede re-open in 1999, however I have added a Stampede tribute shows for a one off event they held in 1992.

Umm anyone else get a warning for a virus that prevents the opening data zip?

It is your virus software reporting false positives. This is something that has been discussed previously in multiple threads when a mod is released. Why your virus software does this, I don't know,  but the file is safe (I scan it with my own virus software before I upload it).

I might put a disclaimer up.

ECW is not in the NWA Alliance (not yet at this point I think?), but has the NWA initials on their monthly show.
The WWW also doesn't have an associated logo by default.

They started running shows in Feb of 92 under the NWA banner (although I don't know how much influence the NWA actually had). ECW technically weren't even open in January but with discussions years ago it was decided it would be easier to have them stay open in January on the data so their roster resembled what it did in February.

Fair enough. But in that case, would it be wiser to add them to the NWA Alliance, as they will be associated with them in the future?

This was also discussed 2 or 3 years ago as well. I set up a poll and the consensus was to not add them to the NWA (as the NWA belts ended up getting defended on ECW shows in 1992 which didn't happen in real life).

I'll change it again if enough people want the previous vote outcome overturned but for now, it will stay as is.

Thanks for your feedback.

Every time I try to invite ECW or any other promotion to join the NWA in a WCW game, NJPW rejects it.

Try changing Seiji Sakaguchi "Other Companies" to open under the Business tab in the editor. If that doesn't work then I'm not sure what will counter that.

I went through some of the workers and fixed some debut dates for myself cause I'm a sucker for little details like that, so if either one of Fleisch or SkyCrasher wants I can either PM one of you the list or post it here

Does 3.1 have a GIF version yet?

The Gif version is a 3rd party add on that neither myself or SkyCrasher do. If someone does one I will include it but there isn't one that I know of yet.

I went through some of the workers and fixed some debut dates for myself cause I'm a sucker for little details like that, so if either one of Fleisch or SkyCrasher wants I can either PM one of you the list or post it here

I'm happy for you to post it here or send it via PM to me. 🙂
