((Sorry about the lack of updates. I've been sick the last few days and haven't felt like writing anything up.)) MACW MONTHLY RECAP: JANUARY 1983 Ric Flair/Harley Race: The first show kicking off the new year announced Harley Race as the new number one contender for Ric Flair's NWA World Heavyweight Title. They first met in a house show on Week 2 in Richmond, Virginia where Harley Race beat Flair by countout. Both wrestlers had a difficult time clicking in that match. The next week in Florence, South Carolina Flair put his title on the line against Dick Slater. Slater was disqualified when Harley Race came in and attacked Flair. Harley got his rematch with Flair on the television show in North Charleston, South Carolina. This one lasted nearly ten minutes before it was stopped by the official for things getting out of control with pure brawling by both athletes. After defeating George South with the Figure 4 leglock at a house show in Raleigh, Flair challenged Harley Race to a match to settle the score and said he would put the World Title on the line to get the match. Later on, Race accepted the challenge. At the next television show, Ric Flair teamed up with Paul Orndorff to defeat Harley Race and Larry Zbyszko by DQ when the Assassin attacked Orndorff, leading to a brawl between all parties. Then it came down to the final match. After nearly 15 minutes of action, Ric Flair rolled Harley Race into a small package and picked up the victory, celebrating after the match his defeating of the number one contender and that is how they ended the month. Greg Valentine/Wahoo McDaniel: Wahoo started the new year off with a bang when he defeated the Hammer for the United States Heavyweight Title. Wahoo celebrated after the match inside the ring, holding up his new prized possession. The next week he gave a heartfelt promo thanking the fans for sticking with him through thick and thin. He was interrupted by Valentine making a challenge to him for that United States Heavyweight Title that Valentine claims is rightfully his. Wahoo accepted the challenge and the match was made for the next night in Lynchburg, Virginia. The two men wrestled tough and came to a 15 minute draw, giving a successful title defense for Wahoo. Wahoo tried to shake Valentine's hand afterwards as a show of respect for the clinic they just put on but Valentine turned and walked away instead, showing no respect for the Native American. Always the fighting champion, Wahoo defended his United States Title against Larry Zbyszko the next week and Zbyszko was disqualified because of interference by Greg Valentine when Wahoo nearly got the pinfall. Valentine put the boots to Wahoo, focusing on his leg and knee area. The next night, Wahoo came out and promised revenge on Valentine, stating that he was going to make Valentine's life a living nightmare for him. Later on during that card The Hammer came out with a sack filled to the brim with silver dollars. He made a challenge to Wahoo that he would put those silver dollars on the line for a match against Wahoo for the United States Title. The next week Wahoo accepted that challenge and the match was set for MACW On Tour. The Hammer defeated Wahoo in 8:06 by submission with his patented Figure 4 Leglock. After the match was over, Valentine would NOT release the hold, using the ropes for leverage and really wrenching in on it. It took several wrestlers to come out and pull Valentine off Wahoo but the damage was done. It was announced later during the card that Valentine had broken Wahoo's leg! The Koloffs: Ivan and Nikita Koloff started things off by vowing to make this year the year of Russia here in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and so far in the month of January no one could really argue with them too much. At the first television taping in Baltimore, Maryland they attacked and beat down Bill Mulkey backstage, leaving his brother Randy wide open for a handicap match later on in the show where they completely destroyed and finished him off with Sickles All Around. After the match, they spoke of the superiority of Mother Russia to boos from the crowd. Show after show, the Koloffs spoke of how great and strong Russia is, garnering USA chants from the crowd whenever they came out. They even took the time to sing the Russian National Anthem to boos from the crowd. Then during Week 3 in Florence, South Carolina Mark Youngblood came out to a mediocre crowd ovation and spoke ill of the Russians, speaking strongly about the United States and challenged Ivan Koloff to a match! The next night Youngblood came out for an answer to his challenge and was attacked from behind by the Russians, leading to a severe beatdown and Mark Youngblood being covered by the Russian flag to boos from the crowd. The next week it is announced that the Russian Bear will indeed take on Mark Youngblood at MACW On Tour. During that same show, Mark promises revenge on the Russians for the humiliation he suffered at their hands. The Koloffs and Mark Youngblood traded promos back and forth leading up to the match. Before the match, the Koloffs did their traditional singing of the Russian Anthem but Mark also grabbed the microphone and sang the American Anthem to cheers from the crowd. The match was a total domination though with Mark Youngblood hardly having any offense in it. Ivan picked up the pinfall and the Russians beat down Youngblood after the match, leaving him bloody and the Russians victorious. Jimmy Valiant/The Great Kabuki: During the first show of the new year, The Great Kabuki took on the Boogie Woogie Man. Kabuki picked up the pinfall after blowing his own version of the mist into Jimmy Valiant's eyes and blinding him. Valiant came out during the next show and promised revenge on the Great Kabuki, being granted a match at the next house show. Prior to that match, Valiant revealed rather large goggles that he would be wearing during the match to prevent that mist from getting into his eyes like last time. This time, though, Kabuki would have other ways of winning, including a distraction by Paul Jones and a shot from a pair of nunchukas. After the match, Jones ordered his charge to beat down Valiant and the Boogie Woogie Man was left bloodied and beaten. A third match was challenged by Valiant and accepted by Kabuki and Paul Jones and Kabuki and Valiant met one on one in Florence, South Carolina where Valiant picked up the win with the Boogie Woogie Elbow Drop. After the match, Valiant went after Jones but was stopped by Kabuki who beat him down again as ordered by his manager. And once more Valiant wanted a rematch with The Great Kabuki with Jim Crockett Jr saying that he will think about it. Paul Jones stated that he and his client will only accept the match if a certain stipulation is added to it: Loser Leaves Town. Jimmy Valiant accepts the challenge and the match is made for the final show of the month. But the show prior to that, Valiant faces another of Paul Jones' charges: Assassin #2. Valiant picks up the win by DQ when The Great Kabuki interferes and again mists Valiant in the eyes. This all sets the stage for the final match at MACW On Tour where The Great Kabuki DEFEATED Jimmy Valiant with the help of his manager Paul Jones to send Valiant packing from Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. Other Happenings: Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood defeated Sgt. Slaughter and Don Kernodle and The Brisco Brothers to win the NWA World Tag Team Titles at MACW On Tour. Paul Orndorff and Larry Zbyszko came in with a mini-feud over the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title that saw Orndorff win it in a triangle match over Zbyszko and Roddy Piper only to lose it at MACW On Tour to hired bounty hunter The Assassin after interference from Zbyszko. Rumor has it that Zbyszko is going to try to buy the title. Another rumor is that certain new signings and MACW veterans are soon to show up on MACW programming. Names that have bandied around have been Khrusher Kruschev, Dick Slater, Magnum TA and some new young tag team called the Midnight Rockers. In a nutshell, that is what has happened so far. Don't expect these types of updates often as I'll hopefully go back to writing things up show-by-show after this.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling MACW On Tour The show kicked off with a video package of our last MACW On Tour card, focusing mostly on the NWA World Heavyweight Title match between Harley Race and Ric Flair where Flair score the pinfall victory over Race with a small package. =A+ Match 1
Ric Flair vs. Private Jim Nelson -The NWA World Heavyweight Champion kicked off action on this show tonight as he took on Private Jim Nelson, underling of Sgt. Slaughter. Flair dominated the bout with Nelson definitely making the Nature Boy look good. Flair picked up the submission victory in a short match with the Figure 4 Leglock. Ric Flair b. Private Jim Nelson: =B
Title Bought And Paid For Larry Zbyszko comes out to the podium and tells everyone about how smart he is and then calls out the new Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion The Assassin. The Assassin steps out and Zbyszko holds up a briefcase filled with $25,000, offering it to the Assassin for the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title. =B- The Assassin tilts his head, seeming to think about it for a moment before making the trade: the belt for the briefcase. Zbyszko just smiles and wraps the belt around his own waist as the Assassin leaves. =B- A Valiant Effort A video is played showing highlights from the Loser Leaves Town match between Jimmy "The Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant and The Great Kabuki with Kabuki picking up the win by underhanded means. =B Paul Jones escorts the Great Kabuki to the ring and gets on the microphone before the match, taunting the fact that Valiant lost to his man and will no longer be seen in a Mid-Atlantic ring. =B- Match 2
The Great Kabuki vs. Angelo Mosca Jr. -Kabuki didn't waste any time once Mosca joined him in the ring, rushing over and attacking his opponent. Kabuki really showed off his martial arts skills much to the delight of his manager Paul Jones and to the boos of the crowd. Kabuki picked up the pinfall victory over his opponent after a stiff kick to the head. The Great Kabuki b. Angelo Mosca Jr. =C
I Broke Wahoo's Leg Following that match, the show cut to the hospital room where Wahoo McDaniel was laid up with his broken leg in a brace. Wahoo thanked the fans for their cards of support and said that he plans on making it back into the ring sooner rather than later and that his first target will be the man who put him in this cast: Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. =B+ Following that video, Greg Valentine came walking out to a series of boos from the crowd wearing a shirt that says "I broke Wahoo's Leg" on the front and "No More Wahoo" on the back. He came inside the ring with the U.S. Title wrapped around his waist and told the crowd that they should be cheering him because he did them a favor in getting rid of that no-talent Wahoo McDaniel. After all, he is SUCH a better United States Champion than Wahoo and to prove it, he's got a handpicked opponent right now to defend his title against. =A Match 3
United States Championship Match Greg Valentine vs. Rufus R. Jones Rufus Jones, one half of the United States Tag Team Champions, came out as the handpicked opponent of the Hammer. As soon as Rufus started climbing in the ring, Valentine went on the attack, nailing him with a knee to the ribs. Valentine's attention soon turned to the knee of Jones, focusing kicks and leg laces on that one body part. Of course this led quickly to Valentine slapping on the Figure 4 Leglock and Rufus had no choice but to submit at the 4:14 mark. Greg Valentine b. Rufus R. Jones to successfully defend his United States Heavyweight Title =B
A Rowdy Challenge Following Valentine's match, some old familiar music began to play and out walked Roddy Piper to a huge ovation from this Asheville, North Carolina crowd. Piper just smiled that huge smile of his as he headed right down to the ring and rolled inside. He moved up and went nose-to-nose with Valentine, the microphones not picking up what was said but that's probably for the better. Piper then took a step back, laughing for a moment as he lifted the microphone to his lips. Roddy: "You think you're really something, do you Valentine? You're the United States Champ. You broke Wahoo McDaniel's leg and all. But you know what? Sooner or later everyone always has to step up and pay the piper. That's what I'm here for. I'm here to ensure that you pay your dues in this ring. That's why I want a match with you, Hammer Boy. And you can try to break my leg all you want. But it won't do you much good when I put you to sleep." =A Valentine looks at Piper with sheer disgust and then takes the microphone, shaking his head. Greg: "I don't face men in skirts, Piper. Your challenge is denied." And Valentine turned, exiting the ring and walking off leaving a heated Piper inside the ring. =A A Valiant Effort, Part 2 The cameras moved backstage where Jimmy Valiant was standing by his car, packing all of his wrestling gear inside the trunk. He looked up toward the camera and told the fans 'thank you' for letting him entertain them. He wanted to thank the fans who have stuck by him through the good times and the bad times and to say that he loves Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling but he's an honorable man and will stick by his word and contract no matter what Paul Jones and The Great Kabuki have to say about him. =B- Match 4
Jay Youngblood vs. Ivan Koloff After what the Russians did to his brother Mark, Jay requested this match against Ivan to gain some revenge. Jay started the contest off quickly, giving the older Koloff a tougher match than he's had in the last month here in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. But as Jay started to go on the warpath, Nikita tripped him up behind the referee's back, giving the advantage back to Uncle Ivan. Ivan put the boots to Youngblood before tossing him outside the ring. Ivan distracted the official and Nikita gave Jay a running Russian Sickle with the chain wrapped around his arm! Youngblood was out and by the time the official turned around he had no choice but to count him out. Ivan Koloff b. Jay Youngblood =A
After the match, Ricky Steamboat hit the ring to try to help out his partner and seemed to be gaining an advantage on the Russians but he was blindsided by a third man! The three Russians put the boots to Steamboat after the match and then laid him out with a sharp Russian Sickle, ending the show with all 3 Russians standing in the ring victorious. =C+

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Match 1
Ric Flair vs. Roddy Piper What a great match to kick off Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. This could main event anywhere in the country and the two fan favorites put on a clinic. Flair focused on Piper's leg while Piper tried to wear down Flair for his Sleeperhold. Bob Caudle informed fans that Jim Crockett Jr. gave Piper this non-title match as a result of Greg Valentine turning down Piper last week. Late in the match, Piper had a chance for a win, locking in the sleeperhold but in came the United States Champion, striking both Flair and Piper, sending them both crashing to the mat and causing the double disqualification. Ric Flair drew with Roddy Piper =A
After the match, Piper was attacked by Valentine, working over that already hurting leg. Valentine was still wearing his shirt that read 'I Broke Wahoo's Leg' and he was definitely trying to do the same to Piper's leg before officials came out to break things up. =C We Have A New Champion The camera focused on the announcer's table where Bob Caudle and Tony Schiavone spoke on what happened last week and the fact that Larry Zbyszko bought the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title. =C- Match 2
The Assassins vs. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw This was not a title defense for Jones and McGraw, which was a good thing for them because they seemed unprepared for Paul Jones' Assassins. It was a slightly above average match though with the Assassins mostly carrying the U.S. Tag Team Champions. The Assassin got the pinfall over Rufus with the Running Powerslam. The Assassins b. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw =C+
...Or Do We? Larry Zbyszko came out to the ring with a smile on his face and the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title around his waist. He spoke to the crowd about how he is so much smarter than every fan in the Lawrence Armory tonight. Instead of having to use his brawn and wear himself out, he went out and got some idiot to do that and win the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title then he paid only $25,000 to get it. =C+ Larry was interrupted by the voice of Jim Crockett Jr., who headed right to the ring and climbed inside. He looked at Larry and then smirked, telling him that there is NO way he's going to keep a title here in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling that he didn't earn. And tonight he is STRIPPING Larry Zbyszko of the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title! Zbyszko kicked the ropes and got up in Crockett's face but he didn't seem to back down from the Legend! =E But he did say that he has some good news for Larry. His match tonight against Paul Orndorff in the Main Event is going to be for the #1 contendership for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. So instead of holding the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title, Larry is going to get a shot at becoming the NWA World Heavyweight Champion! =C Match 3
Khrusher Kruschev vs. Ricky Steamboat This was a revenge match for Steamboat after last week Kruschev joined the Koloffs in beating down Steamboat and his tag team partner: Jay Youngblood. Khrusher started things off with brawling, keeping the high flying Steamboat grounded as much as he could with restholds and cheating. Of course the Koloffs were at ringside but so was Jay Youngblood. Steamboat fought back, getting the crowd behind him. He fired a few elbows to the gut of Kruschev and then bounced off the ropes, flooring the russian with a clothesline! Steamboat was a house on fire, turning and climbing the top rope. But he moved to the wrong corner and Ivan pushed him off the turnbuckle! The referee in the ring saw that and called for the bell, leading to a swarm by the Russians. Ricky Steamboat b. Khrusher Kruschev =C-
Russian Swarm After the match, the 3 Russians immediately went on the attack against Steamboat, beating him down to the mat. Jay Youngblood grabbed a chair and slid into the ring. He swung it and knocked down Nikita. He turned toward Ivan who motioned for Jay to swing the chair! Or maybe not. Khrusher took Jay down from behind and held him down on the mat while Ivan put the boots to the Youngblood family member. Ivan and Khrusher checked on Nikita, who got up angrily, wrapping that chain around his arm and nailing Jay Youngblood with a chained Russian Sickle! Again, the tag champs were left laying on the mat with the Russians standing over them. =C+ Ready For The Match Paul Orndorff got on the microphone, hyping his matchup tonight against Larry Zbyszko. Orndorff told the crowd that tonight is going to end up being a Wonderful night. =C+ Match 4
Paul Orndorff vs. Larry Zbyszko Orndorff didn't waste any time trading blows with the Living Legend when he rolled into the ring. He was looking for revenge and that could easily be seen within his eyes. Zbyszko headed out of the ring quickly and Orndorff gave chase. Larry slid inside the ring and put a few stomps to Orndorff, keeping him outside the ring. When Orndorff finally rolled inside, Larry dropped a couple of elbows and then locked on a side headlock on the ground. A few minutes of wrenching came before Orndorff fought his way to his feet and shot Larry across into the ropes. Mr. Wonderful floored Larry with a shoulderblock and then posed quickly before going on the offensive. Things looked to be going Mr. Wonderful's way when Harley Race appeared from the back, giving a rather large smile to Orndorff and clapping his hands. Orndorff looked confused but tried to ignore Race. This enabled Larry to get an advantage and he began working the back and neck of Orndorff. Race stood at ringside and merely observed, not seeming to interfere in the match. Larry made the mistake of going to the top rope. When he came down he was caught with a clubbing blow to the belly by Orndorff. Mr. Wonderful beat Larry down and then set him up for the patented Piledriver! That's when Harley Race climbed up on the apron, drawing the attention of referee Tommy Young AND Paul Orndorff. Orndorff grabbed Race and looked around to the crowd, getting them fired up. Orndorff reeled back and then released Race? He was nailed with a low blow by Larry Zbyszko! Larry rolled him up and pulled the tights, scoring a 1-2-3 count when the referee turned around! Larry jumped out of the ring quickly and joined Harley Race with the two looking up at the ring and smiling as the cameras ran out. Larry Zbyszko b. Paul Orndorff =B+
Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Baltimore Arena. Baltimore Maryland Wednesday Week 3 February 1983 Attendance: 8,289 Overall Rating: B- Match 1
Larry Zbyszko vs. Randy Mulkey The number one contender came out viciously in this match against one half of the Mulkey Brothers. He was obviously upset over losing his Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title and it showed in the total domination of Randy Mulkey. He picked up the win via the Sleeperhold submission. Larry Zbyszko b. Randy Mulkey =C
Mutual Hatred? Harley Race came out from the back clapping his hands for Zbyszko and joined him in the ring after the match putting the boots to Mulkey before sliding him outside the ring. They got on the microphone and told the world that they joined forces to rid the Mid-Atlantic region, the whole NWA of Ric Flair. And it would start with Zbyszko taking the NWA World Heavyweight Title from Flair at MACW Superstars in a little over a week's time inside a steel cage! =A A Tough Debut? Mean Gene Okerland was in the back next with the Midnight Rockers, who looked like they were ready to go. Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty told the world that tonight they would be having a tough debut here in MACW going against the Koloffs but they would stand up for America here and they would definitely keep on rocking! =D Match 2
The Midnight Rockers vs. The Koloffs The Koloffs laughed inside the ring as the Midnight Rockers came out in their debut match here. The Russians were definitely taking them lightly but the Midnight Rockers started off on the offensive, using their speed and double-team moves to keep the Koloffs off-guard, including a double dropkick to Nikita and a double sledge off the top turnbuckle to Ivan. But once the Koloffs were able to catch Shawn Michaels they really took over the advantage with illegal chokes and double-teams, goading Jannetty into the ring to distract the official. Michaels, though, ducked the Russian Sickle and came back with a dropkick on Nikita, crawling toward his corner to make the tag. In came Jannetty and in came Ivan. Jannetty came running up and got Russian Sickled out of his boots by Ivan Koloff! Ivan just smiled as he made the cover and the Koloffs spoiled the debut of those Midnight Rockers. The Koloffs b. The Midnight Rockers =C+
Paid the Piper? Greg "The Hammer" Valentine came out next to a roar of boos from the crowd. The United States Heavyweight Champion told the crowd that he proved why Roddy Piper does NOT deserve a title shot last week when he beat down the man that wears a skirt. He also said that when Piper's mom was pregnant that she wanted a girl and Piper's father wanted a boy. Well, we can all see who got the correct end of the deal on that one. =B+ Valentine's words were interrupted by the music of the Hot Rod who came running from the back and inside the ring, immediately trading punches with Valentine! Back and forth they went until Valentine caught Piper with a knee to the gut and threw Piper out of the ring. The U.S. Champ climbed out there and headed toward the back but Piper got up quickly and rushed him from behind, tackling him and laying in punches against the back of Valentine's head! He picked up the Champ and escorted him back through the curtains and the cameras picked them up when they were in the parking lot with Piper ramming Valentine's head against the hood of a car! Valentine was busted open by now but turned toward Piper and raked his eyes. The U.S. Champ grabbed Piper and threw him through the windshield of the car before staggering off and leaving a now bloody Piper lying on the hood of that car. =A A Youngblood Never Says Die Chris Youngblood was caught up in the back by Mean Gene Okerland. Okerland spoke with Chris about his match tonight against Khrusher Kruschev. Chris said that while he might be the youngest of the Youngblood family that he is seeking revenge tonight and that is as old as time itself. He would prove tonight why his family and why the U S of A is better than anything Russia can come up with. =E
Chris Youngblood vs. Khrusher Kruschev Youngblood came out alone as Jay and Ricky seemed to be nursing injuries suffered last week by the Russians but Khrusher was accompanied to the ring by both Ivan and Nikita Koloff. This match was about as bad as one could expect but benefited by having a hot crowd here in Baltimore Maryland. The Russians are definitely a strong team and hated by the fans, which made more people get on the bandwagon of Chris Youngblood. Chris even maintained an advantage for part of the match but that was thwarted by interference by the Koloffs. In the end, it was a Russian Sickle by Ivan that knocked Chris down and out outside the ring and Khrusher ended up picking up the win by countout. Khrusher Kruschev b. Chris Youngblood =F
After the match, Chris was tossed inside the ring where the Russians continued their demolition of him. Ivan and Khrusher lifted him up while Nikita wrapped the chain around his arm and then leveled the youngest Youngblood with a Russian Sickle with the chain. Can anyone stop this team's dominance? =C Revenge Is Looking Wonderful Paul Orndorff held a prerecorded segment in the back where he spoke about how last week Harley Race cost him a shot at becoming the number one contender. This week he plans on costing Harley Race some blood and getting some payback. And you better believe that when it comes to Paul Orndorff, revenge is absolutely Wonderful. =B+
Paul Orndorff vs. Harley Race The match was definitely one that a lot of people were looking forward to as maybe a signature match for Mr. Wonderful. The veteran Harley Race really showed his stuff in this match as well, taking what Orndorff had to offer and dishing back in a way that only Harley Race can. During the match, Race's ally Larry Zbyszko came walking down to ringside, serving as a distraction point for Paul Orndorff. But Orndorff did continue to fight and rally inside the ring, even setting up Race for his patented Piledriver. But Larry got up on the apron and much as what happened last week he distracted Orndorff for long enough for Race to get his wits about him. Orndorff punched Larry off the apron and then turned into a boot to the gut by Race. Race quickly pulled Mr. Wonderful in and dropped him with a Piledriver of his own, covering and getting the 3-count. Harley Race b. Paul Orndorff =A
After the match, Larry climbed in the ring and began putting the boots to his old nemesis, joining forces with Harley to work at the neck of Orndorff. But the crowd began cheering as NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair came running out from the back and slid inside the ring, knocking down Race and Zbyszko with chops. The bad guys slid out of the ring quickly to live to fight another day while Flair stood tall over Orndorff and the cameras faded to black. =A
Great work! I've really enjoyed this so far. You have a great understanding of the era and are playing that up wonderfully. Larry Z buying the Mid-Atlantic strap is fantastic, as is (of course - heh) Valentine doing the 'I Broke Wahoo's leg' angle. Thanks a lot for this.
This is a great mod. I really enjoy playing it. In all honesty, it's the top mod I can really get into and I was only born in 1981 so I didn't really live too much in this era but at the same time I like to watch the older tapes. It's one of the better times in wrestling.

Before the camera cuts away, the wrestler turns around to show that he is ... George South??? =C
Roddy Piper vs. George South This had to be a mistake, right? Greg Valentine thinks that George South is going to pick up the win over the Hot Rod? When South came into the ring, Piper just laughed and laughed, pointing at South and feigning like he was really scared. The two men met in the center of the ring and actually did begin a wrestling contest. South got an early advantage with a rake of the eyes and began working over Piper's leg. Only about a minute or two into the bout, Greg Valentine came down to ringside and climbed inside, shoving the referee out of the way. While South held Piper, Valentine came down on Piper's leg with the U.S. Title belt, causing the DQ. Roddy Piper b. Tonight, just like every other night, Russia would remain supreme over the United States in every way. =C+ Partner Revealed Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood came out to the ring first and Steamboat got on the microphone, saying that he was able to get an old friend of his to come to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling to help them out. Ivan and Magnum started things off with Magnum T.A. holding his own against the large Russian Bear. Magnum made an early, quick tag to Steamboat and they used double-team moves to get Ivan off his feet. The fan favorite team definitely used a speed advantage, much as the Midnight Rockers had done last week, to keep Ivan off his game. Ivan was able to use a rake of the eyes to gain back the advantage and tagged out to his nephew. The matchup went back and forth with the Russians using cheating to get an advantage while the fan favorite team used the crowd to get it back. In the end, though, the Russians were too much to handle and Ivan picked up a submission win with a Bear Hug on Magnum T.A., once again leaving Steamboat and Youngblood on their own. The Russians b. Tonight he would be showing why he IS the Nature Boy and why he IS the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Tonight, the Nature Boy is going to style and whooo profile allll night long. =A+
Ric Flair vs. Larry Zbyszko vs. Paul Orndorff vs. Harley Race Entrances were made in that order with Flair and Zbyszko staring holes at each other while Orndorff and Race did the same. When the bell sounded, Race and Zbyszko immediately went out of the ring, leaving Flair and Orndorff to start things off. The two athletes didn't seem to mind too much though as Flair kicked things off with a few chops in the corner to the strong chest of Orndorff. Orndorff turned him around and laid in with several punches to Flair's noggin, backing up and Flair flopped to the ground. Orndorff remained on the attack, working at the neck of Flair with some reverse chinlocks and front facelocks. Zbyszko tagged himself in later in the match, took a few shots to Flair and then tagged back out to Harley Race. Late in the match, it was indeed Flair vs. Zbyszko in the ring with Zbyszko maintaining an advantage and even using Harley Race to choke Flair outside the ring! Orndorff jumped off the apron and ran around to that side, attacking Race and all hell broke loose! All 4 men brawled on the outside of the ring with no one maintaining a distinct advantage. The door opens and out walks...Wahoo McDaniel to a huge crowd pop! He's using crutches to get himself toward the building, still nursing a broken leg. Bob: "Oh my word, Tony, it's Wahoo McDaniel! He hasn't been seen since getting his leg broken by Greg Valentine. What is he doing here?" Tony: "I don't know but it can't be good news for the United States Champion, I'll tell you that. He's got enough on his plate with Roddy Piper later tonight." Bob: "Indeed. But let's head up to the ring for our first match of the night." =A
United States Tag Team Titles On The Line Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw(c) vs. The Midnight Rockers Both teams were mildly popular with the new Midnight Rockers getting more cheers from the lady's side of things. Shawn Michaels started things off with Rufus, sizing each other up. Obviously the champs had a definite weight advantage going into this match. Shawn used his speed early and often on both Rufus and Bugsy, maintaining a swift pace to start things off. Shawn and Marty used a few double team moves to maintain the advantage, including a double clothesline and double suplex on Rufus, keeping the Freight Train on the ground. Marty made a mistake when he whipped Rufus into the ropes though of setting for the dropkick too early and hit nothing but air, falling to the mat and letting Rufus tag out to Bugsy, who was a house of fire, knocking down both Midnight Rockers. All 4 men got some action at that point in time with Bugsy punching Shawn in one corner and Rufus punching Marty in another. Bugsy and Rufus whipped the Midnight Rockers toward each other but they did a little do-si-do and came back with dropkicks, felling their respective opponents! Shawn and Marty turned toward Bugsy and nailed him with a double Superkick!! Marty grabbed Rufus to keep him back while Shawn made the cover and got the 1-2-3 to win the U.S. Tag Team Titles! The Midnight Rockers b. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw =C-
After the match, the Midnight Rockers were handed the U.S. Tag Title belts and moved into the corners, holding them up to some cheers from the crowd. Because they are so young the crowd doesn't quite know what to think of them so the cheers are only small. =D Pay The Piper The cameras move back to the backstage area where Roddy Piper is seen getting ready for tonight's matchup. Roddy: "You know something, Valentine? A lot of people have accussed me of being a little mentally unstable. They've gone on to assume that I am a little crazy. Well, you know what? There is a method to my madness. There is a reason why I am the way I am. Tonight, you're going to find out it's because I like to win. There, I said it, are you happy now? The Hot Rod likes to win. And about my leg?" Piper motions the camera down where he punches his leg a few times. Roddy: "You're going to have to do a whole lot better than that little figure 4 of yours to keep the Hot Rod down. No, tonight you're going to find out what it's like to do what so many people have already done: pay the piper." =A A video plays next as the crowd gets ready for the United States Title match between Roddy Piper and Greg Valentine. The video highlights everything that has occured since Roddy Piper's challenge of Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. =A
United States Heavyweight Title On The Line Greg Valentine(c) vs. Roddy Piper The United States Champion walks out, keeping an eye around since he knows that Wahoo McDaniel is in the back right now. He could come out at any time, couldn't he? Valentine is wearing his shirt that reads 'I Broke Wahoo's Leg' on the front but this time on the back it reads 'And Piper Is Next.' The crowd cheers wildly when Piper walks out, kilt and all, and runs straight toward the ring, sliding inside. Valentine rolls outside the ring quickly and Piper goes out after him. Valentine rolls inside the ring and rises quickly, looking toward Piper, who waves his finger at him showing he's not going to get caught quite that easily. Piper waits until the referee holds Valentine back and then climbs in the ring again and the match is on. This wasn't so much a wrestling match as it was a brawl between two men looking to hurt one another. The beginning of the match was mainly a slugfest that saw the fists of Greg Valentine pounding on the head of Roddy Piper and the fists of Piper doing the same to Valentine's head. By the middle of the match, both guys were busted open. But the champ had maintained a distinct advantage at that point and was focusing on the hurt leg of Roddy Piper. He even dropped a few elbow shots on the leg of Piper to soften him up for that Figure 4 Leglock. Valentine looked to get his finisher set in but Piper rolled him into an inside cradle for a two count! Valentine popped right back up and went to work on Piper's leg again. He draped it across the bottom rope and dropped all his weight on that leg. Then it was time for another shot at the Figure 4, which succeeded! Piper was crying out in pain and trying to position himself so that he could reach the ropes but he couldn't quite get to them. The Hammer rose his body up slightly and got a few slaps on Piper's chest to add insult to injury only it fired him up! Piper looked like a wild man as he began working to turn the pressure. Valentine's eyes went wide as he fought back to keep the pressure on Piper's legs. But Piper used the crowd for support and got the Figure 4 turned around! Valentine yelled out in pain but the hold was quickly broken and both men were left laying on the mat. The referee started administering his ten count as each man slowly started to climb to his feet using the ropes. Piper's eyes went to Valentine and they met each other in the center of the ring, beginning to exchange rights and lefts. Both men were wearing crimson masks! Piper started to get the advantage, winding up a shot and flooring Valentine to the mat! Valentine was slow to get back up, giving Piper a chance to catch his breath. Piper grabbed Valentine and whipped him into the ropes. Valentine held on and rolled outside the ring, grabbing his U.S. title and walking toward the back, proclaiming that's he had enough! Piper looked on, barely able to stand as his opponent was counted out, giving Piper the win but not the U.S. Title! Roddy Piper b. Greg Valentine =A
NWA World Tag Team Titles? A video played showing the history between the Koloffs and the Youngbloods and everything that led up to the match tonight between the Koloffs and Steamboat and Youngblood. =B+ The Russians came out to the ring first and Ivan asked for silence as he began to sing the Russian National Anthem. The crowd booed during Ivan's poor rendition and he was finally interrupted by the music of their opponents. =B+
NWA World Tag Team Titles On The Line Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood(c) vs. The Koloffs The Russians were definitely upset that their anthem was interrupted by the team of Steamboat and Youngblood. But they held in their anger until the bell sounded and the match was on for the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Ivan and Steamboat started things off and it was again a match of the speed for Steamboat against the power of Uncle Ivan. The Champs knew that if they were caught by either of the Russians they would be pounded without mercy so they did what they could to keep out of the grasp of Ivan or Nikita. But eventually, Youngblood would succumb to being caught by Ivan and the pace slowed tremendously with Ivan focusing on the back of Jay Youngblood. He dropped him with backbreakers and even coaxed Steamboat into coming into the ring a few times to gain the distraction needed for choking doubleteams by the Koloffs, even allowing Khrusher to get a punch in behind the referee's back. Several times, it looked like Jay was going to get the tag but the Russians distracted the referee at all the right times, sending Steamboat back to the corner. The end came when Khrusher Kruschev yanked Steamboat off the apron and threw him against the security wall, leaving an already hurt Jay Youngblood alone with the Russians. Both Ivan and Nikita hit Russian Sickles on the Champ and Ivan locked in a bear hug to finally get the submission victory. The Koloffs b. Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood =B+
A Flair Warm-Up Speech? The camera moved backstage and a huge crowd pop could be heard as Ric Flair was seen sitting on a bench inside the locker room. Ric: "Look, I know you're only trying to help, but I can handle this on my own. It's gonna be one on one with me and Larry Zbyszko." The camera pans back to show who Flair is talking to...James J. Dillon? JJ: "You need to listen to me, Ric. You need to trust me. You know that they have something up their sleeves. You know how tricky they are. You need someone to watch your back so that Harley Race doesn't come out and attack you." Ric stands up and runs his fingers through his hair. Ric: "Do you know who I am? I'm the Nature Boy. Whooo. I'm also the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. I'm a limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheeling, dealing sonofagun. And tonight I'm gonna prove to you and to the world watching live on pay-per-view that it doesn't matter if it's Larry Zbyszko, it doesn't matter of it's Harley Race, Paul Orndorff or George South the Nature Boy is going to come out on top. Whooo." =A Soon To Return? The camera moves to another part of the locker room where Wahoo McDaniel is standing by. He tells the crowd that he's sorry he couldn't be wrestling here on the first pay-per-view of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling because of his broken leg but that he plans on being back very soon and gaining his revenge on Greg The Coward Valentine. =A Cobra Clutch Challenge The camera moves back inside the ring where Sgt. Slaughter is waiting with a microphone. He calls everyone to attention and then explains how his Cobra Clutch Challenge is going to work. He's offering $5,000 to anyone who can break his hold within 60 seconds. He asks to bring out his first challenger, who happens to be Angelo Mosca Jr.! He comes out to a very mild pop and slides inside the ring, facing Slaughter. Slaughter sneers at Mosca Jr. and then asks if he is ready, pulling back the microphone before Mosca Jr. can answer, slapping on the Cobra Clutch! Mosca Jr. struggles and fights for several seconds before quickly submitting! Slaughter throws Mosca Jr. down and then raises his arms in victory, giving him a dismissal salute and motioning for his Privates to come to the ring. Jim Nelson and Don Kernodle come into the ring and kick Mosca Jr. out as we have an impromptu match between the Privates and the Mulkey Brothers! =A
The Privates vs. The Mulkey Brothers This was a definite mismatch from the beginning as the Jim Nelson and Don Kernodle just played with the Mulkeys. It should have been over before it was but Sgt Slaughter's Privates just dragged the match on and on. Don Kernodle finally ended the match with a pinfall on Randy Mulkey. The Privates b. The Mulkey Brothers =C
More Payment? The cameras quickly cut backstage where Roddy Piper was slamming Greg Valentine's head against the brick wall of the Charlotte Coliseum! Valentine easily was busted open and Piper wasn't done yet. He locked in his Sleeperhold on the U.S. Champ, sending him down to the floor unconcious. Piper stood up and looked down to his opponent from earlier and SPIT on him. =A A New Mid-Atlantic Champ? Harley Race was shown backstage and he talked about being the veteran favorite tonight in his match against Paul Orndorff. But he said that doesn't matter and neither do the fans being in Orndorff's corner because the King is going to step back on his throne here in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and it starts with winning here tonight. =B- A video played, hyping the history between Paul Orndorff and Harley Race. =B+
Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title On The Line Harley Race vs. Paul Orndorff There was no Zbyszko or Flair out here tonight as they were both preparing for the steel cage match later on for the NWA World Heavyweight Title so it would be a one on one matchup. Much like the Valentine/Piper match, it was a brawl from the beginning with Race maintaining a large advantage due to cheating, including chokeholds on Mr. Wonderful. Paul came back in the middle of the match, using the crowd support to his advantage and focusing on the neck of Harley Race. Both men tried attempts at Piledrivers and both men failed as the other side hit backdrops. Harley raked the eyes of Orndorff to blind him and then went to the corner, getting a pair of brass knuckles! The referee didn't see this and Race huddled in the corner, waiting for Mr. Wonderful to approach him. Orndorff slowly did and was nailed in the forehead by Race! Race quickly rolled Orndorff up and even put his feet on the ropes for leverage. 1-2-3. No, wait, the referee saw Race's feet and said that it was only a two count! Race began arguing with the referee, pushing him into the corner! Referee Joey Marella pushed Race back and Orndorff rolled him up. 1-2-3! Paul Orndorff is the new Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion! Paul Orndorff b. Harley Race =A
A Flair For The Gold Ric Flair was shown one more time in the back, looking ready for his match tonight. Flair talked about the history of the NWA World Heavyweight Title and told Zbyszko that he's going to have to wait until Flair's ready to retire to hold on to the title because the Nature Boy is not going to lose it. =A+ A video plays hyping the happenings between Ric Flair and Larry Zbyszko this month leading to this Steel Cage match. =A+
NWA World Heavyweight Title On The Line Steel Cage Match Ric Flair(c) vs. Larry Zbyszko When both men headed to the ring, they sized up the Steel Cage for a moment before climbing inside. The bell sounded after the ring introductions and the match was on with Flair doing his usual attempts at avoiding locking up and strutting across the ring. Both men knew that this match was going to take awhile so the match started at a rather slow pace with Flair landing several chops on Zbyszko, getting the crowd into the match. The Living Legend fired back with his own shots to the chest of Flair and by the middle of the match it had turned into a brawl with Zbyszko gaining the advantage there and ramming Flair's head into the cage! Flair got busted open and soon was wearing a crimson mask as Zbyszko went right for the injury, maybe hoping the referee would stop the match as a result of Flair's bleeding. The hometown crowd really got behind the Nature Boy though and soon he fired back to Zbyszko with a few elbow shots and then several chops, one hard enough to knock the Legend off his feet! Flair quickly turned his attention to the knee of Larry, focusing on it with stomps and elbow drops and anything else he could do. But when Larry got back the advantage he did the same thing to Flair. The announcers were stunned as the Living Legend went after the knees of the Nature Boy. Zbyszko gave a strut along the ring over 20 minutes into the match and then came back to Flair, holding up a leg and letting out a 'whooo', mocking the Nature Boy as he looked to lock on a Figure 4 Leglock! But Flair has his own finisher well-scouted and when Zbyszko leaned in, Flair grabbed his head and rolled him into a small package. Referee Tommy Young was quick to jump in there and counted the 1-2-3! Ric Flair b. Larry Zbyszko =A
Watching? After the match, J.J. Dillon was shown watching the monitor in the back and clapping at the Nature Boy's win with a smile on his face. The announcers wondered just why Dillon was smiling and what he has to do with Ric Flair as the pay-per-view ended. =C

GREAT PPV!! I loved the exhacange between Flair and Zbyszko, and how you illustrated Larry mimmicking/mocking him. Flair countering a figure four for the win is a great homage in and of itself. Also, I was very entertained by the ending of the U.S. Title match. Orndorff going over Race in the Mid-Atlantic should do much to further his career as well.

The Mulkey Brothers
After the match, the Russians didn't stop there. Instead, all three continued to beat on the Mulkey Brothers, setting Randy up for another Russian Sickle until... 'When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside. You've gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide. When you hurt my friends, well you hurt my pride I've gotta be a man, I can't let it slide. I am a real American, fight for the rights of every man I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life.' The Russians looked up the aisle when none other than HULK HOGAN came running down the aisle and slid into the ring. He was immediately set upon by all 3 Russians and it didn't look like the save was going to work too well for Hogan. He was dropped by an Ivan Koloff Russian Sickle near the ropes. Nikita started to lift him up from that when he got a wild-eyed look in his eyes! The crowd chanted 'USA, USA' trying to get behind Hulk as he fought his way to his feet, shrugging off forearm shots by all 3 Russians. He looked toward Ivan and pointed before wagging his finger back and forth. Ivan came running at him and Hogan blocked a punch, nailing Ivan with one of his own. He did the same for Nikita and the same for Khrusher! He picked up Ivan and bodyslammed him to the ground. He clotheslined down Nikita and then whipped Khrusher into the ropes ... BIG BOOT! He bounced off the ropes and dropped a legdrop onto Khrusher Kruschev! The crowd went wild as the Russians all slid out of the ring and Hogan started posing for the crowd, waving his arms in the air to get the USA chant louder and louder. The Russians just looked on and walked toward the back. =C- MACW Superstars Part 2 A video was played next, highlighting the U.S. Title Match between Greg Valentine and Roddy Piper. =C+
Roddy Piper vs. The Great Kabuki An additional match here added between these two superstars as fans all oer get to see the Hot Rod in action. Kabuki did get in some shots as Paul Jones led some interference but this was mostly a showcase for Piper. The Rowdy Scot won the match when Greg Valentine came out and attacked him with the U.S. Title belt. Roddy Piper b. The Great Kabuki =C-
After the match, Piper fought back against Valentine and the brawl was on with Kabuki and Paul Jones slithering to the back. Piper and Valentine soon followed them, brawling all the way to the back. =C+ U.S. Tag Title Shot? Paul Jones went straight to the back and was seen next within the interview area with the Assassins. Jones hyped his team, saying that tonight they would be the new United States Tag Team Titleholders and he hopes that the Midnight Rockers enjoyed their 5 minutes of fame. =C+
United States Tag Team Titles On The Line The Midnight Rockers(c) vs. The Assassins The Midnight Rockers know their forte and they know how to use it as they proved in this match with double-teams and a quick pace to start things off against the Assassins. The Assassins fired back though with a few cheating moves and their own double-team moves, slowing down the pace and using power holds to keep the Midnight Rockers from fighting back. Marty Jannetty played the face-in-peril role in this one and when he was finally able to tag out to Shawn Michaels, Shawn dominated both members of the Assassins. Shawn had The Assassin down and went to the top turnbuckle when Paul Jones climbed up and pushed Shawn down right in front of the referee! The ref had no choice but to disqualify the Assassins. The Midnight Rockers b. The Assassins =D
Run Away! Run Away! The camera cut backstage to the parking garage where Roddy Piper was walking, seemingly looking for someone. His eyes went wide when he saw Greg Valentine but Valentine saw him too! The chase was on but Valentine seemed more prepared as he jumped into a waiting car and the car sped off, leaving Piper chasing on foot! =C+ Another Defense Of My Title Ric Flair was shown backstage warming up alone for his match against Sgt. Slaughter. Flair looked up into the camera and told the world that tonight it's going to be him vs. Slaughter one on one. He doesn't want Larry Zbyszko or Harley Race coming down to the ring for this one because he's going to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt why he is the man. And tonight he's going to celebrate that win allll night long! Whooo =A
NWA World Heavyweight Title On The Line Ric Flair(c) vs. Sgt. Slaughter Slaughter came out alone this time while Flair did as well. Flair started the match off with his usual mind-games and avoidance of Slaughter, getting the crowd pumped up with him. But soon the match was on and to the surprise of many here, Slaughter took the early advantage with a series of power moves, working over the back and neck of Flair. Of course it's public knowledge that Flair was in an airplane accident so his back is not exactly what it used to be. During the match, J.J. Dillon walked out to ringside and stood in a neutral corner, distracting the Nature Boy a bit as he wondered why Dillon was out there. Flair's advantage was short-lived because of the distraction and Slaughter was all business out there. Slaughter whipped Flair into the turnbuckle but the referee was in that same turnbuckle! Slaughter came charging in and splashed both men, sending the referee down and out! Slaughter quickly grabbed Flair and locked him into the Cobra Clutch, shaking the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and it looks like we may have a winner as Flair screams out in pain but there's no referee to call the match! J.J. Dillon climbs inside the ring behind the two men and pulls off his shoe. He sneaks up behind Slaughter and BLASTS him in the back of the head with his shoe! Slaughter releases Flair and falls like a ton of bricks to the mat. J.J. quickly moves over and shakes the referee, pulling out some smelling salts and waking the referee that way as Flair crawls over and makes the cover. The referee crawls near and counts the 1-2-3! Flair never saw Dillon's interference! And J.J. is out of there, headed straight to the back. Ric Flair b. Sgt. Slaughter =B+
Flair is down and out in the ring after winning the match and here come Race and Zbyszko! They immediately lay upon and stomp Flair, working at his neck! The Nature Boy already went through a grueling match and now he's got two fresh men beating the hell out of him. =B But, wait, the curtains part to a large crowd pop as here comes Paul Orndorff!! The Mid-Atlantic Champion slides into the ring, threatening Race and Zbyszko with hitting them with his title belt, sending them racing outside. And this week it's Orndorff standing over top of a fallen Ric Flair to end the show. =B-
