  1. NOTBPW CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTILNG - 2020 EPISODE 2 SEGMENT 1: CAMERON VESSEY OPENS THE SHOW In a very rare display for NOTBPW, we get an in-ring promo. And to start the show? Unthinkable. But here is Cameron Vessey, his arrogance and disdain pulsating. His promo is short and sweet, first blaming him not wrestling tonight on Sean McFly being too old and broken down, then announcing the fans can vote on the stipulation of the career-deciding match between him and the legend: Steel Cage, 2 out of 3 falls, or I QUIT. You decide! It doesn't matter anyway, there can only be one result. Rating: 71 MATCH 1: AMBER ALLEN, ARIEL BREAKS & CLAIRE WINTERS VS DEMELZA WADE, LAURA FLAME & NINA CACACE VS A match anchored by the veteran Amber Allen, its point was for the youngsters to shine in the usual rapid-fire exchange of 6-wrestler tag matches. In particular, the other shooter of NOTBPW, Laura Flame, shone by being much more polished than Claire Winters in her offense and selling, and by having the whitest-meat babyface in Ariel to bully. Wade and Cacace mostly got beat up, with Amber Allen managing to pin Demelza Wade as Winters and Flame were grappling outside, a Northern Lights Suplex sealing the deal. (14:30) Rating: 60 MATCH 2: NOTBPW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: SHINGEN MIYAZAKI (C) VS REAVER This is essentially the crux the All-Pacific alliance has been built upon so far: Midcarders beating midcarders. On their home turf. Thankfully, this IS the workrate-focused company alliance. Solid wrestling is non-negotiable. And these two decided to have the kind of match you don't often see in the land of grapplefests, and just hit each other in the head as hard as possible for 15 minutes. No backing down, no gimmicks, barely even any holds or moves. Until, one lariat brings Reaver to his knees, and it spells the beginning of the end. A few slaps later, and he's out cold. Three seconds, and the match is over. (15:12) Rating: 55 SEGMENT 2: Next Week on Championship Wrestling The Dynamite Express appear backstage to announce an open challenge for the NOTBPW Tag Team Championships, next week. Anyone can try to take the titles off them, but all they'll manage is give them a day off next Saturday. Rating: 52 MATCH 3: MARK GRIFFIN VS SHOOTER SEAN DEELEY VS With Erik Strong quipping alongside the commentary duo, it was the Champ's time to once again show his credentials against a high-level opponent who's only looking for the one big win that will propel him to the top of the card. This was as classic NOTBPW as it gets, with limbwork being king and whenever not, someone being dropped on their skull to be pinned unceremoniously. After losing last week, Mark was determined to not fail and kicked out of some suplexes he absolutely shouldn't have. Because they just gave Deeley the opportunity to send his opponent a message by upping the viciousness. By the time Mark was made to tap out, his arm was almost ripped out of its socket, and Erik had stopped with the joking. (18:05) Rating: 70 MATCH 4: JESSICA CONROY VS LAUREN EASTER VS From the moment we begun, there was only one winner. But Jessica stood her ground more than expected for a near-rookie, trying, presumably on the queen's accord, to target Lauren's eye, an objectively weak spot. But what happened in the second half of this very quick match was fairly uncontested. Lauren spammed her Belly-To-Belly Suplex, then pinned little miss Conroy by kneeling on her collarbone. (7:44) Rating: 50 SEGMENT 3: BATTLE LINES ARE DRAWN After the match, Nadia Snow tried to attack using her title belt, but Lauren dodged. She went for a forearm strike, only to be parried and then headbutted under the eye. Both women backing off, they had an intense staredown. Rating: 54 MATCH 4: BROOKE TYLER VS ZOE AMMIS VS This match was a revelation for anyone who wasn't quite sure, or had tuned out of the company in recent years. Brooke Tyler is the best wrestler in NOTBPW. She dragged an excellent contest out of a very average Zoe Ammis performance, in a match that probably went on way too long, but also was as starmaking as you could get for someone who is approaching the prime of her career, was a prodigy since day one, and is literally named "The Franchise". At the very least, it made sure that the Queen's Court act should probably not be holding the title belt at this point, or maybe...anyone else on the roster. While the men's side of the roster is being aided by the Pacific Alliance, the women's division has to make due with matchups that aren't fresh and a lot of young wrestlers still being built up. Might as well have the best possible placeholder for Greg Sluchinski star ratings if you're not comfortable with what the women's division is currently offering. (15:07) Rating: 75 MAIN EVENT: JARED JOHNSON VS SONNY WILDSIDE VS The two young rockstars of the NOTBPW had their first singles TV Main Event against each other. And they delivered a good match, with Johnson's performance particularly shining bright. He allowed Sonny to get all of his crowdpleasing offense in, while also managing to keep the control of the flow of the contest, guiding his opponent's comebacks effortlessly. Johnson tried working Sonny's leg which would be the obvious huge advantage, but Sonny Wildside had two years in the dojo getting his leg worked on, plus his whole young career as a professional wrestler. He knew how to keep separation, get to the ropes, and just not be doomed, which forced Johnson to change strategies and start working the neck, setting up either of his two finishers. As Sonny went for a flying headscissors, Jared caught him in position for the MDK powerbomb, but as he took the steps forward, Sonny managed to get him into a Sunset Flip for the three count! Sonny was going to represent NOTBPW in the fight for the All-Pacific Title. After the match, he shook hands with a fairly annoyed Johnson, then went over to the commentarry table and shouted into Tom Townsend's mic that he's bringing the gold home babyyy! Rating: 64
  2. This is the true NJPW prime era, and it stops in about 2017-18. Excited to see you forge your own path, so many things you can change. However I'll go basic for the first set of predictions. 1. Bullet Club (Prince Devitt & Bad Luck Fale & Tama Tonga) vs. Ryusuke Taguchi & Captain New Japan & BUSHI 2. IWGP JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: Time Splitters (Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA) © vs. Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov) (4th defense) 3. Katsuyori Shibata vs. Hirooki Goto (the best feud of 2010's NJPW) 4. IWGP TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: Killer Elite Squad (Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr.) © vs. TenKoji (Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima) (6th defense) 5. NEVER OPENWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Masato Tanaka © vs. Shelton X Benjamin (3rd defense) 6. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Karl Anderson 7. IWGP INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP: Shinsuke Nakamura © vs. Manabu Nakanishi (8th defense) 8. IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Kazuchika Okada © vs. Minoru Suzuki (1st defense)
  3. As far as a first TV show goes, with a theoretically very thin roster, this accomplished everything you'd want- set up half the main players in the company and closed on a really hot angle. Edwards turning de facto face is interesting too.
  4. NOTBPW CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ~ 2020 EPISODE 1 MATCH 1: CLAIRE WINTERS VS NINA CACACE VS We begin the new decade with a matchup as old as time- the wiley veteran going up against the brash, young shooter. Nina did her best to keep control but Claire was just a beast that couldn't be contained for long, her every strike turning the tide of the contest ever to her favour, to the point where 5 minutes in it was clear she was winning the match. Cacace hit a few big bombs that took Winters off her feet, but she just couldn't string enough offense together, a heel kick ending the match and giving Winters the win in her NOTBPW debut. (8:28) Rating: 50 MATCH 2: THE CANADIAN BLONDES VS THE GRIFFIN FAMILY VS Two teams in the business of chasing the dominant Dynamite Express, they fought extremely hard in order to send a message that they belong in the top of the tag division. Mark Griffin dominated with size early on, but when Robby came in with his high-flying offense, the experience of the Blondes shone through, dismantling the young wrestler with tandem offense. Robby showed guts getting to the hot tag, but Mark was essentially outnumbered, the hot tag fizzled out with a close nearfall and the numbers' game led to a Golden Shower for the win. (16:11) Rating: 57 MATCH 3: DAVID STONE VS DEREK FROST VS The next great hope was up against a huge obstacle in Frost, a force unlike anything he'd seen in the dojo. The youngster did the best he could in order to tear down this wall, but he couldn't bring Frost to the mat, or get him off his feet with some high energy offense (that he's still working on, still adding to the Stone mat game). As a result, this soon became an elementary challenge for Frost, who punished the youngster until ending things with a Snow Plow. (9:39). Rating: 44 INTERMISSION: HYPE VIDEOS Two videos play back to back, hyping up bouts that will take place next week, and those are bouts of interpromotional nature. Firstly, the All-Pacific Champion Joshua Taylor will be defending his belt at Big City Brawl, and NOTBPW is holding a #1 contender's match between two of the brightest young wrestlers in the company, Jared Johnson and Sonny Wildside for the right to face Taylor. And secondly, the Television title will be defended next week, as Shingen Miyazaki is facing PGHW's Reaver, one of the hardest-hitting Americans to ever cross the Pacific Ocean. Tune in for those exciting bouts, and much more! MATCH 4: Ariel Breaks & Lauren Easter vs The Queen's Court (Deborah Young & Nadia Snow) VS A huge match for the young Ariel Breaks, perhaps the biggest she's been a part of in her young NOTBPW career, but this is all about the legendary Lauren Easter gunning for the opportunity to become a 6-time Women's Champion as Nadia Snow's Queen's Court has been dominating the division recently. Snow spent most of the match letting the Royal Executioner Deborah Young do most of the work, but as to be expected this strategy can't hold off a top contender forever, and with the help of some well-placed Missile Dropkicks from Ariel, Easter managed to get Young down for the Figure Four Leg Lock, and the win. (14:10) Rating: 59 Post-Match Promo: After the match, Easter confronted Nadia saying she's tiring of jumping through hoops for a title shot she has more than earned, but Nadia Snow, irritable and panicked put up one last, if underwhelming, obstacle: The young Jessica Conroy, which Lauren is to face NEXT WEEK, on Championship Wrestling! Rating: 63 MATCH 5: ERIK STRONG VS MOUNTIE MANN VS With Shooter Sean Deeley looking on from the ringside area, Erik Strong painted a masterpiece against an extremely tough opponent in Mountie Mann. Despite the fact this match dragged on, Strong was methodical in his limbwork, and never really felt out of control. He tried to send a message to the Champ by going for the Seated Armbar, and that's when Mann really fought back, scratching and clawing and raking his way into his classic stretches, the brutality and efficiency of an almost bygone era in Canadian Wrestling. Strong though has improved a ton not only at being grounded, but also getting to his spots and usual offense from any position. Any mistake from Mann was punished, and the ease with which Erik Strong just went to an Ace Crusher and then the Strong Sault was characteristic. As he was pinning Mountie Mann, he was pointing a finger gun at Sean Deeley, as if officially laying the challenge for Big City Brawl- the mind games between the two only continuing. (18:57) Rating: 71 MAIN EVENT: CAM VESSEY, JARED JOHNSON & JOHNNY BLOODSTONE VS SEAN MCFLY, SOLOMON GOLD & SONNY WILDSIDE VS A very lengthy and back and forth main event that was ultimately decided by the experience differential between the two teams. Gold was not quite ready to win a main event match, but he showed he belonged by absorbing some incredible amounts of punishment from Bloodstone. The star of this match however was Sonny Wildside, who was untouchable for big parts of the match, showing Double J that he needs to be at the top of his game next week, and almost pinning the Submission Demon in multiple occasions. But in the end, Cam Vessey found Solomon Gold in the ring and absolutely victimized him with an array of Brainbusters, pinning him with a Vessey Driver II as Sean McFly could only watch. (23:22) Rating: 66 POST-MATCH PROMO: After the match, Vessey expresses his contempt for McFly, his role as a veteran in the company, and the way he symbolizes a period of the company that has definitively ended. He says that after their battle, only one should remain in NOTBPW. As MVP, as leader, to shape the company in their own image. McFly interrupts to suggest a stipulation so that Vessey can shut up: Their match should be Loser Leaves Town. There's a content sparkle in Vessey's eyes as the two titans of Canadian Wrestling shake on their agreement to end a career at the January PPV.
  5. Worth saying some people enjoyed CWA because that's how they want to play the game- be powerful enough to fight the big 2 for world domination, and with some patience and insane spending CWA can do that early.
  6. Thanks for the support! CVerse Canada is great, but the CWA itself perhaps the most divisive thing I've seen. No wonder almost every mod removes them. Thanks for the mod and the support! Playing through this and looking at the data I've been gathering some feedback for the mod thread I will post one of these days. Some tag teams are pre-existing, and sadly Ozzie is in a team with Flash Savage already. Obviously the Griffin brothers are a team, and Cam Jones with Syd Collier are The Dynamite Express. There's also Jared Johnson and Johnny Bloodstone in The Tap Out Mob. Surprisingly, Erik Strong is just a guy with that name, no relation. Excited for you to follow along on the journey! And with that, after I decide on some minutiae, I'm posting the first show in the next few days.

Basically, I got a summer job and everything went sideways with my routine. The CGC project will continue at one point, and this is not an empty promise... unless I wake up one day and decide I'm not happy with the creative I have planned for that dynasty. Until then, this is a really fun challenge from the mod @Wrestling Machinejust cooked up. Expect this to not be the most active diary even if I manage to keep it going for a while. I just really like doing different stuff and/or promoting in Canada, apparently. Learning things about myself. You'll probably get a roster overview before we begin, or maybe not if I'm too lazy. I have probably forgotten details and important things, feel free to ask! I hope we all have fun with this.
  9. NOTBPW: The new decade rolls in As the 2020's arrive for the wrestling world, NOTBPW is still shocked by the death of the Stone patriarch a couple years ago, much more than CGC was by George DeColt's death, mostly due to their inability to create new stars in comparison to a rejuvenated CGC that adds Aaron Knight to the returning Jack and Ricky DeColt. They still hold on to their status as #1 in Canada, but other than CGC (a company they're on positive terms currently anyway), NOTBPW and the Canadian wrestling scene are mostly hurt by USPW's wrestling imperialism and will for World Domination. Three big decisions were taken to protect NOTBPW's prestigeous status and help the company survive these tough times: Firstly, the Canadian championship was rebranded to just the NOTBPW Championship in order to properly convey its status as a premium title in the global wrestling scene. Secondly, the company joined the All-Pacific alliance that TCW and PGHW had formed, allowing them to loan and trade highly talented wrestlers and freshen out some PPV cards. And thirdly, they decided to slowly update their product: In the next three months, the classic, technical "Wrestling as a Sport" presentation would be changed in order for the company to be presented as somewhat of a midpoint between its partners, TCW and PGHW: "East meets West", if you will. This would mean more promos and a bit of a different match structure sometimes but it felt like a necessary way to freshen up what had become "Grapplef*ck matches, sort of like work-rate NYCW", according to Greg Sluchinski. But there was also a fourth, secret change: Victoria Stone-McFly was to be scapegoated for the company's slight downturn in fortunes. Her, Tamara McFly and Sean McFly were seen as getting increasingly more clout within the "Booking council" that included them, Jeremy Stone, Duane Stone and Eugene Williams. Instead, a small coup took place that meant Duane Stone is getting a leading role, and Johnny Bloodstone would become part of the inner circle, so to speak. This would mean Victoria and Tamara quitting on the spot while Sean McFly would wait until after finishing his product with company ace Cam Vessey. A tumultuous period for the company became further so, perhaps unnecessarily. Will this new structure save the company or will it be that keeping responsibility within the family to an obsessive degree will have similar results to Alex DeColt's decade in charge of CGC? Only time will tell.

  16. I have been playing a bit with the CWA and it's a very enjoyable experience, although there's clearly a ton of things to still work through even in the released part of North America. The lore stuff is mostly good and interesting and there's a ton of variety, but there's also questions (for example, every new worker that isn't a prodigy seems to have super low or uneven stats? That's clearly a design decision which is fine but since the AI has always been bad at picking up workers to develop you're just stuck with a lot of really bad workers). Also some schedules seem very busy, I assume this mod is meant to be played with House Shows turned off and PGHW has both 88 events and a TV show which I assume it's because you have only done some preliminary work for non-NA stuff, which is obviously fine, work this at your own pace. Would be very interested to see what further work is done, I really like the base of the mod, the shows in North America seem to be getting simmed fine for the AI as well. Would be interesting to run an FCW game to see the other side of the spectrum but honestly I don't have time right now. Keep up the good work!
  17. Thank you for the feedback and some more kind words, @christmas_ape. Maybe I'm being too harsh on the quality of the diary, but also thank you for validating some of the weaknesses. Hopefully this diary can get even better. That's always the goal! GOLDEN COMBAT MEDIA INC. 20. LETHAL Steel Fury Road Tour #5 Results: MATCH 1: Chojiro Ono def. Sugita Kamoto VS The young heavyweight really shone in this match, knowing he needs to be impressive. Ono relished the show of fighting spirit and really challenged Kamoto to give his best. After a close call from a backdrop, Ono was scrambling to take back control, and a brutal lariat steadied things up, before he ended things with a Tsunami (Pounce) in 10:12. 43 Rating MATCH 2: Hiro Date def. Tsutomu Honda VS Date was looking for a similar display from Honda, but Honda decided on his usual strategy. Seems like he prefers himself to get angry before he really gets going. That however does not work as well against one of the heaviest hitters in the history of puroresu. Even when he went absolutely ballistic with intensity, it felt like he was a couple moves away from demise. Which is what happened after Date got him with a Painkiller lariat in 9:21. 45 Rating MATCH 3: Butcher Hachirobei, Sheikh Abdul-Wahid and Shi Yuuto def. Kyushichi Mizumaki, Nobusuke Takabe and Soh Terajima VS With absolute fire in his eyes, Sheikh Abdul-Wahid totally dominated the proceedings of this bloody deathmatch. The sledgehammers were brought out for this one for the first time in this tour, alongside the usual weaponry that accompanies these occasions. The Sheikh of destruction choked Soh Terajima using a lead pipe and pinned him in the middle of the ring, while staring daggers at the Chalice of Blood holder. (10:37) 53 Rating MATCH 4: Magobei Morita & Masa Kahaya def. Arnoud Vox & Sumiteru Hatakeda VS With the help of the sublime Magobei Morita who had his first match of the year, Masa Kahaya overcame the teamwork of Vox and Hatakeda. Kahaya’s fighting spirit was unmatched as he fought through everything to get the hot tag to Morita, before swooping in at the end with a kendo stick to send a message. Morita was kind enough to tag the champ back in, who pinned Hatakeda with an Impaler in 12:34. 46 Rating MATCH 5: Fujimaro Tansho & SOSEKI def. El Segador & Yokai Dragon VS We have contenders to the Tokyo Wrecking Crew! And it was fought with blood. The masked madmen really gave the Bloody Hand duo everything they had, even wrapping a table in barbed wire and hitting a double suplex on SOSEKI through it, but Fujimaro Tansho’s tendency to use any possible weapon saved them. Using a cut-off sink from…who knows where he gave Yokai Dragon immense head trauma and got the winning pin. (15:02) After the match, the Bloody Hand members promised to destroy the Tokyo Wrecking Crew, get the Unity of Blood belts and show everyone once and for all that The Bloody Hand runs LETHAL, and LETHAL is still a deathmatch company more than anything else! (49 rating) 44 Rating Show Rating: 42 POST-SHOW COMMENTS: Chojiro Ono: "Bring on the Bloody Hand! We'll teach them tricks in wrestling like our young boys today!" Hiro Date: "Your Deathmatch masochism won't help you against the best as much as it did against the gaijins." Masa Kahaya: "Arnoud Vox it's clear you don't share the respect I showed you on the first show of the year! LETHAL is a land of savages and while I'm one of them, I'm a killer amidst butchers! You've made a huge mistake underestimating the champion." El Segador (In Spanish): "This was not good. I need answers." Magobei Morita: "Yes, babyyyy! Top star shining bright. Masa my friend keep this belt warm for me!"
