  1. Absolutely. I would still recommend VirtualBox for a more advanced user who is on a budget. I've gone that route and used it for years but after trying Parallels I don't think I could go back to it. As you said, it's just so nice using it. It's a flawless program that I've had zero problems with. VirtualBox can give headaches. And Wine/Crossover can stop working because of a Mac update (like Catalina) or program update. It certainly isn't cheap but you absolutely get what you pay for with Parallels - an awesome program. But you do also get the Parallels Toolbox along with it, which I've grown to see has a lot of nifty apps you can use.
  2. I highly recommend Parallels Desktop 15 for anyone who owns a Mac and loves TEW. I used the 14-day trial and instantly purchased it. I was able to use the Student Discount for 50% off through my college (just re-enrolled in college for the first time in ten years to finish a degree) and bought it for $40 (as opposed to $80). You can download Windows 10 on the Microsoft website using the Media Creation Tool. Download, create the ISO file and you can install a fully working version of Windows without needing a product key or license. You'll have some settings you can't change with the non-licensed version but it will continue to work without any problems. The thing I like about Parallels is being able to run it as the VM window or in "coherence", which is basically like Wine and Crossover. All of your Windows OS programs will run alongside the Mac without needing to reboot or anything special. I have a 40GB VM through Parallels that I'm using strictly for TEW and SimCity (EA won't update it to 64-bit). It's only taking 25GB on my Mac hard drive. Which is a lot less than other VM's and BootCamp.

At that point, you could use TEW2020 (when released) to convert that database file. You'd just have to make tweaks to the database to get things working with new features. I've never exported a save but I believe that your able to do this, right?</p><p> </p><p> EDIT: I just checked and it's just the database file to view, it isn't playable. For some reason I thought it was. Bummer!</p>
  4. Pretty pumped that we're about four months away now. Glad to hear that the game is progressing so well. Extremely excited for TEW2020! <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  5. <p>I think a PDF “study guide” with new stories, characters, promotions, etc. would be nice to have to go along with TEW. I know people like to discover the new stuff, I do too, but I’d also like a guide that has a few details and changes to the game world. It obviously doesn’t have to include everything, but I think a PDF similar to the old CVerse website would be really nice to have.</p><p> </p><p> <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/cornellverse/index.html" rel="external nofollow">http://www.greydogsoftware.com/cornellverse/index.html</a></p>
  6. With the auto-booker evolving, I see new ways to play TEW taking shape. I could see myself starting a two player game by myself - one as a parent promotion and the other as a child promotion. I could auto-book the parent company and focus entirely on the child company without having to worry about the parent AI making foolish decisions for me... or just being able to control absolutely everything from top to bottom.
  7. C'mon Adam! Don't tease CVerse spoilers and then take it off the table. That was like a dagger to the heart!!
  8. Not to be rude, but this is extremely inaccurate. For someone like myself, who enjoys to let the CPU pick my winners when I'm having trouble deciding who to go with, I know for a fact it is very random. For example: Auto-book a show completely and leave the winners blank. Run that show over and over again 10 times and I guarantee you will have different winners just about every time. I did it right after reading your post in an older save I had going... Ross Henry (91 popularity everywhere) vs Edward Cornell (84 popularity everywhere). Each guy won the match 5 times. With your logic, Henry would have won all 10 simulations. I've also had situations where a match I chose the finish would make one of the workers refuse to do the job. I've left the winner blank after saying "to hell with him then" and the CPU made them lose. That is a much more rare occurrence, but that alone tells me it is very much random. EDIT: I ran a test using Gino Montero (89 popularity everywhere) vs SUKI (85 popularity everywhere). Gino won 4 out of 5 times. SUKI won the 5th simulation. So as much as stats certainly do play a role in the CPU deciding the winner, I feel like a % of randomness is included as well. And the match SUKI won (95) rated 4pts higher than the matches Gino won (91 average).
  9. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="ewitner" data-cite="ewitner" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46884" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Like I know I could have a regularly scheduled TV show that happens to run the same day and pretend it's the pre-show, but that's not what I mean.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> This is your best option. Run a 'B' show on the event date.</p>
  10. <p>The way figureheads are setup in TEW2016 actually favors someone who uses an older talent. This person doesn't have to be your champion, they don't have to be used every show (to get the attendance boost they have to be used for that show) and they can lose, it just has to be very rare while keeping them protected from falling in popularity to someone else. </p><p> </p><p> If I remember right, the figurehead only has to be used every 3 months. In that regard, you could potentially have someone much older who only wants to be used on 'Events'. So long as they meet the criteria and are better than the rest of the roster in popularity, star quality, charisma, and babyface rating -- I really don't see why you couldn't have a 45+ year old figurehead and succeed.</p>
  11. LOL! I cannot wait to see what some of these CVerse personalities do on social media. Jay Chord instantly came to mind. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  12. Nailed it. The game literally tells you what you want to look for. Popularity, star quality, charisma, and babyface rating. Ideally, you push this guy to the moon and protect him at all costs, not allowing ANYONE to be better at those four things. You can get away with people being better here and there, but you won't get the maximum boosts you can get if he's all alone at the very top. Also, since you have a full year before it takes effect, don't be afraid to pick someone who isn't the best in those four areas. You can get them there.
  13. This goes for me too. I have an outline of what I want to accomplishment and what I want to do with people, but that changes based on the reactions they get and the feedback I receive. It makes zero sense to push a story the exact way you wanted to, if it isn't getting the in-game results you wanted.
  14. Sorry for multiple posts, I worked an overnight shift and got out at 6am -- so my brain is all over the place this morning. I'm all for the proposed gimmick change, so long as you do include an auto-generated list or a suggestion list. I'm not the most creative person in the world, I can see most of my workers having gimmicks like your example... Fearless Blue (lfjkdlfkjdf), Ernest Youngman (slkwjlwj), etc. It would probably ruin the enjoyment for me because I don't see myself detailing every single gimmick. And how would game worlds start if there isn't a pre-set gimmick list? Would you have to create a gimmick for every worker on your roster, every single time you start a game?
  15. From the Journal - "Spoils Of War: If a company goes bankrupt then anyone they're in a significant war with automatically gains a company-wide morale boost for "winning the war"." Any chance we might get boosts for buying out a rival company? I'd imagine there was a massive morale boost in WWE when they purchased WCW, knowing that jobs were secure.
  16. LOL, that's how I feel too. I've literally been on GDS since I was 15 years old and in high school. Now I'm a married 30 year old with a 5 year old son. Time flies right by. I used to think 30 was old, but I'm pretty sure its 50+ now.

  18. Guess I'll see all of you guys in another 6-12 months. Certainly no reason to keep checking the forum on a daily basis.
  19. Really pumped that it seems to be progressing so well. I look forward to the live journal portion as that always seems to be the most interesting updates. Hoping we’re still on track for a December release. I already told my wife what she can get me for Christmas!!
  20. This is where processor, RAM and a SSD comes in handy. I notice a huge difference between my desktop and my laptop when transferring this save.
  21. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="EBEZA" data-cite="EBEZA" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46819" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>That's fair enough, then! I must admit, as much as I love planning stuff out (I have my main event scene for the next 18 months mapped out for my new WCW diary already, and I'm not a week in yet! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />), I do really enjoy a good ol' spanner in the works, like an injury, death, etc!<p> </p><p> One I distinctly remember is I did an ECW revival save, and Bill Alfonso died only a few months in. He was my only ref at the time, and he died like two days before a show, so other than hiring local, I was screwed. I decided, in the end, to use Shane Douglas, Taz, Sabu and Rob Van Dam as the referees as a sort of "tribute" show, that then became an annual tradition where I held a memorial tournament with all matches refereed by those 4 men, who were most closely associated with his career, especially in ECW.</p><p> </p><p> That whole show concept wouldn't have come about but for the game screwing me over a couple of days before a show. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> That is pretty nifty how you worked out that problem. That seems like something that would happen to me. Something crazy happening right before a show. </p><p> </p><p> This same save, I hired Jack Bruce in May 2019 after he had a scandal. He was caught mocking the disabled. SWF fired him and he was a company cancer for two years. I had changed MAW's product to be more risque, so I played it up that our company reputation was the perfect place for him to be. His popularity was around 70 and he agreed to sign with us because he had no options and hadn't worked in a year since the scandal happened. </p><p> </p><p> I ended up using him as a special attraction. After awhile, when I realized we were gaining steam and could potentially have a TV deal and grow the company, I made him loyal to MAW so that nobody could steal him. My reasoning for that is we were the only company willing to take a chance on him and give him a second shot after he royally screwed himself. I was able to justify it in that regard so I did it. He passed away in February 2025 at the age of 52 though. Not an accident or drug related from what I could tell. Just his time to go I guess.</p>
  22. <p>Definitely happy to see that managers will get boosts from being at ringside. I never realized that they didn't, so I'm surprised that wasn't already in the game. </p><p> </p><p> And having the option to get an e-mail when a company is losing money is awesome. The amount of times I've seen SWF buy out a company and I would have done the same thing had I realized it. I always felt like the AI knew something I didn't and they were cheating because of it. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  23. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="EBEZA" data-cite="EBEZA" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46819" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>So, no end point in sight? Will you just play until you don't enjoy it any more?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Not really any ending point. I'd say I'm riding this save until TEW2020 comes out, just to see what happens in the game world. I've come to realize that one of the ways to really enjoy the game now is to turn a lot of the settings up high. I've done that with injuries and deaths, which I usually play with those settings turned down. I also decided to have a 'dirty doctor' backstage for years and basically got my roster addicted and made them progress quicker. Sally Anne was a whistleblower just two years ago in the game because of the drug use backstage and we lost out on a ton of sponsorship and merchandise money while that blew over. Prestige and momentum took a massive hit, but I found that rose back up fairly quickly. We had literally just started the AWA Network, which was extremely lucky because no broadcaster would touch us and all of our deals were running up within 3 months. </p><p> </p><p> She had about 15 people with tension, dislike, or hatred directly after she did that. I kept her around and tried meddling some relationships around until I decided to ship her down to developmental to train people. I figured if I fired her, she'd start a wrongful termination lawsuit against me and most definitely win. So she's still employed but she's a trainer and has no contact with the main roster. </p><p> </p><p> Basically, I've done a ton of stuff to this save I would never do in any other save. Mostly to keep it fresh and see what type of wrenches get thrown at me. Its made it really fun to switch out workers when you have a slew of guys in rehab, a few suspended, and a few on the shelf due to injury. It definitely makes the game more interesting because you can't "stick to your guns". It forces you to play differently and at this stage of TEW2016, while we wait for TEW2020, its one of the only ways I can make the game entertaining.</p>
  24. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="EBEZA" data-cite="EBEZA" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46819" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Wow, that's quite the story! What is your end point for said MAW save? I'm guessing you've carried on after reaching Global, so what's the point where you'll stop?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Richard Eisen is 72 years old and still running SWF. They are the #4 company in the United States. They've been a mess for years now and I'm curious to see if they can make it back to where they once were. Or to see what happens when Jerry or Eric takes over. I've even contemplated leaving my company when he retires in an attempt to take control of SWF and fix them.</p>
  25. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Historian" data-cite="Historian" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46814" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>As OLLIE's developmental? Really? Why? [Not being an asshole, genuinely curious as to why you'd like them to become OLLIE's developmental]</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Because of Keith's history with Mexico and the fact OLLIE has been a member of the COTT since a year after it was formed. OLLIE is the one company that always makes it to Cult fairly fast too. They technically are above the COTT at that point and shouldn't be involved with it. It would make sense for them to keep that relationship going in some way. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Matt_Black" data-cite="Matt_Black" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46814" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Yeah, I'm a bit curious about that myself. MAW is very much old school, no frills, back to basics stuff. Good for teaching fundamentals and basic technique. But OLLIE is pure lucha libre, with all the flash and style that entails. Guys for OLLIE are going to want high flying, flashiness, and solid entertainment skills, which isn't exactly MAW's wheelhouse. CILL makes much more sense as a developmental territory for OLLIE, as their products are virtually identical.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> OLLIE has both Traditional and Lucha Libre at key feature. MAW has Traditional as a key feature and Realism at heavy. As different as they are, they are somewhat similar as well. Even the intensity and danger for matches are similar. It's one reason why you see top stars going from SWF / USPW / TCW to SOTBPW. They might be a lucha libre company, but they favor mainstream and traditional wrestling too.</p>
