Even if they give him another 0-0 fighter, he will have had amateur fights and he will have been training mma or a specific martial art for years. Unless of course they put him against another celebrity with the same lack of experience - but that would almost crossover into Bellator freakshow territory.

 3. Brock Lesnar had a legitimate martial arts background, was a heavyweight (who are bigger draws than the lower weight classes, in general), looked like he eats children for breakfast and his opponent Frank Mir was already a big name and former champion in the UFC himself. CM Punk doesn't have any martial arts background and he'll likely fight at welterweight against Mickey Gall, a no-name who will probably finish him within the first round. I don't think that CM Punk will be that big of a draw in the mma world as pro wrestling fans would like him to be and I'm almost sure the UFC will not put him in a (co-) main event slot of a numbered ppv for his first fight. I can see him headline a FS1 Fight Night or a Fight Pass event, but not a pay-per-view. Don't get me wrong: I have nothing against CM Punk and I'm also curious to see how he does. And if the UFC gives him the chance to do what he has always wanted to try, good for him. But he's been training mma for barely a year now and in the UFC, he'll be fighting guys that have been involved in martial arts their whole life. He's most likely going to get beat up by everyone they put in front of him.

If so no way, Punk is going to have his first fight on pay per view at least in the semi main.

I'd be shocked if they'd put him in a co-main event spot or even a main event spot on a PPV. Sure he's got some name value and that's why he was hired in the first place despite his complete lack of mma experience.

But they're not going to put an 0-0 fighter in a pay-per-view main event spot, nor should they. I can see him being on the undercard or headlining the prelims, though.

 5. No one knows yet. He's currently recovering from a back surgery. But they have just announced a Fight Night in Chicago for July 23, so maybe he'll fight on that card. I wouldn't expect anything from him, though. His skill level is basically that of an amateur fighter, and even that might be an optimistic estimate. By the way: Daniel Cormier is injured and had to pull out of the fight against Jon Jones. That's not an april fool's joke
 6. I see what you meant now. I thought you were riding the popular "Conor needs to vacate the belt if he's fighting in another division" bandwagon.

In the end it's single fights that matter to me.

I'm only following mma since about 2013, so my favourite fights are mostly from that point onwards and there are certainly more great fights from before that that I've forgotten or don't know off. But off the top of my head, the following are some of my favourite fights.

Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar - TUF 1 Finale

George St. Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks - UFC 167

Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson - UFC 165

Andrei Arlovski vs. Travis Browne - UFC 191

Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald - UFC 189

Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit - UFC 195

Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm - UFC 193

Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman - UFC 162

Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva - UFC 168

Renan Barao vs. TJ Dillashaw - UFC 173

I can also recommend the Ultimate Knockouts and Ultimate Submissons collections. They are fun to watch and include fights from the very early days up to today (or whenever they were produced).

As mentioned, if you're looking for specific fighters, the fightography is what you're looking for.

Diaz vs Conor II at WW for UFC 200
Edgar vs Aldo for the interim FW title at UFC 200 too.

Regardless of the result of Diaz/Conor, Conor will defend the FW belt against the winner of Edgar/Aldo.

But.. why for the Interim Title ?

I got Conor and Edgar

Why would it not be for the interim title? Stripping Conor of the belt when it was just 3.5 months since he won it, would make no sense.

I'm not a big fan of interim belts, you're either the best in your division or you're not. What it does, though, and what I like about it is that it keeps track of who the #1 contender is. So, if Edgar wins, the UFC has to give him the title fight that he's so long been asking for.

 8. Yeah, he's blasting Holly's manager for pushing for a quick turn-around after her title win, while at the same time praising McGregor for doing the same. He's also praised Liddell and Rousey several times for taking fights in quick succession. Dana White is so obviously playing favourites. On another note: I just read that Kimbo Slice popped positive for PED's in that circus fight against Dada 5000 (Ken Shamrock, too, by the way). Imagine Dada had actually died (luckily he didn't). Bellator and Slice would've been in huge trouble and the whole sport could have been in jeopardy. Commissions need to stop sanctioning fights between out-of-shape forty-somethings.
 9. Yeah, Cat Zingano should get another crack at the title if Miesha remains champion having already beaten her, but she should win another fight first. I'd like to see her fight Holly Holm. As far as the big press conference before Friday's weigh-ins: I think this is the Conor McGregor effect. Everyone saw how far he went with his trash talk and how much money he earns as a result, so they're all trying to do the same. All of a sudden, Weidman and Rockhold hate each other (why are they even fighting again? Rockhold beat the living hell out of him.), same with DJ and Cejudo. And some of these exchanges were so childish, it was embarrassing to watch. It just all felt so forced.
 10. I don't think his hype is over just yet. He's the featherweight champion who went up two divisions on less than two weeks notice to fight at welterweight against a lightweight fighter. He still has so many options. The next obvious fight for him would be him vs. Aldo or Edgar for the featherweight title at UFC 200. If he wins that fight and it's anything but a split decision, I think he's right back where he was before he lost to Nate Diaz as far as the hype about him is concerned. He can still move up to lightweight (and if you look at how he looks when he weighs in at 145, he definitely should) and try for a run at the title there. And why not move back up to welterweight after he's put together another nice winning streak in the lower divisions? Unless Conor McGregor starts a losing streak now, he'll always be a huge draw. He's a marketing machine. He can talk like no one else and is a world class fighter. People will always want to see him fight, no matter what weight class and no matter that he lost one fight after a seven-fight win streak in the UFC. As far as the women's bantamweight division: I think it's pretty intriguing now. Tate vs. Rousey 3 with the roles reversed is a fight I already can't wait to see. If Rousey wins that one, they have to do Rousey vs. Holm 2, which is another great fight and the fight the UFC obviously wanted to do in the first place. If Tate beats Rousey, there's a big chance that Ronda will retire. If that happens, the division all of a sudden is wide open, even though there are very few fighters that can beat Miesha Tate.
 11. Don't get too amped to see him fight. 99 out of 100 times Mickey Gall is going to finish him early in the first round.
 12. Edit: I deleted the link because Jon Jones' recent traffic misdemeanor most likely doesn't affect his probation and thus doesn't effect his title fight against Daniel Cormier. Which means that it's just gossip at this point and I don't think we should talk about it in this thread.
 13. So, as every year, my resolution is to try to get back into wrestling and so I watched TNA Impact and thought it was a really average show. Some random thoughts: - I didn't like the main event, I felt like it had no flow to it. Hilarious how everyone on tv was able to see ECIII calling the finishing sequence. It's a taped show (even though they continuously said "we're live on POP"), just take another camera angle so that the viewers can't see ECIII whipering in Matt's ear. However, I thought it was pretty cool that Jeff Hardy and ECIII's "bodyguard" (forgot his name) agreed to leave the ringside area. Made the match feel more important. - I thought the knockout's match was terrible and pretty sloppy. Yes, Gail Kim seems to be a good worker, but she alone couldn't save the match. At one point, one of the women made the tag to her partner through the top and middle rope - wtf? - Maybe that's how it is these days, but all the dialogues were so artificial. I had to laugh when Matt Hardy talked to his wife/girl-friend backstage. No one talks to their partner in that way. - They also totally spoilered the Beer Money reunion. When Eric Young ran in, you could already hear the beer bottle opening and one of the announcers actually said "wrong cue". I assume that's what LOLTNA is about? - And yeah, "2006 is my year". Well, too bad you're six years too late.
 14. I'm not a sportsbetting expert, but I think the thought-process behind it is: If someone is hyped a lot (Paige, Sage, Conor, Ronda etc.) the bookmakers expect a lot of people to bet on them. And so, the bookmakers give them odds that are not very favourable for these bettors so that they can actually expect to make money off of them. And what a couple of memorable fights within the last four weeks or so. First, Ronda Rousey gets dismantled and violently knocked out, then Conor beats Aldo in 13 seconds. These two fights alone will be talked about for decades to come and are already two of my all-time favourite fights which I'll probably be watching a million times. And please, let's not start that discussion about fixed fights. It's so pointless.
 15. Edmond Tarverdyan (hope I spelled his name right) was quoted: "I wouldn't say in the striking game she was getting the best of Ronda, you know, but I have to watch it again”.
 16. Ronda got dominated, she even got taken down at one point by Holly. So unreal. It wasn't a fluke win, it wasn't an off-night - it was just a terrible match-up for Ronda. Unless she changes a lot of things in her fight game, I don't see her winning a rematch, either. Would have loved to hear at least some comments from Rousey or her corner after the event. Even though I was rooting for Holly, I felt very bad for Ronda. One interesting thing: There was a video on twitter that showed Ronda returning to the backstage area. Her sister was right by her side, but her whole corner (including head coach Tarverdyan, who has always been very close to Ronda) were walking behind her by a proper distance. Maybe I'm just reading too much into things, but it looked like there was some tension between Ronda and her team. Edit: Here's the video:
 17. Sorry, for double-posting, but: HOLY HOLM! HOLM-MY GOD! HOLY MOLY-HOLMY!
 18. I may be falling into the UFC's trap here, but that weigh-in has me hyped a bazillion times for tomorrow's fights.
 19. I could use an alt for Deaf Touch without the "police" cap and if possible without the beanie (or however that white thingy is called). Is there one anywhere or could anyone make one?
 20. Is there a re-render for Nathan Coleman from the cornellverse anywhere? I just hired a regen with his picture and don't want to use the default one.
 21. :-) Ha, I could see that argument about Hendo's age coming from miles away. And it's a valid point, but still: The way DC manhandled him looked pretty impressive to me. I could watch him throwing Henderson through the air all day. And I was talking about his fights at LHW only since these are the fights that one should look at when deciding whether a title shot is merited or not. Charisma is always a matter of taste. Personally, I find him very entertaining. But I can agree to disagree. Again, I'm not a huge fan of him getting a title shot, but it's not a travesty, either. From a strictly marketing standpoint, it's probably the best option for the UFC. And by the way: I'm not here to defend DC and what he says, but he never said that Jon Jones cheated him. I think it was just yesterday when he said that Jon beat him fair and square and was the better man in the fight. And the Weidman thing was just teasing, I'm pretty sure.
