  1. In the other TV Shows section, I would say that any of the stuff regarding the NFL probably should have some impact in Canada even if it is at the lowest level.

Also, where is the ALCS, NLCS, and World Series? MLB might not get the ratings it used to but it still draws around what the NBA Finals gets and it draws in both the States and Canada (I am not sure how popular it is in Mexico). Just seems odd it was left out when it does draw ratings aways from RAW all of the time.

  2. My whole thing when it comes to renders is if they do not make it to the game I will not say anything about them unless I like them. However, if they do end up making it into the game and I paid money for the game then it is an entirely different subject.

When all of those renders that look exactly the same, but with slight differences, showed up in the game I complained about it. I was told I had no right to complain about them because the artist put in hours worth of work into them. However, as someone who paid for a product you better believe if I am not happy with the product I am going to say something.

Honestly, those renders are not that bad. If five or six of them were to have shown up, I would not have said anything. However, when there are fifty or sixty of them showing up, then yes I am going to complain because they all look nearly exactly alike.

How is me voicing my dislike of a render that I ended up having to pay money for, any different than me voicing my dislike of something in a movie?

Now willr0ck I like your renders so this is not meant as an attack on you. This is more me growing annoyed over people telling me that I am a troll or I am toxic for saying the equivalent of, "Hey my soup is cold."

  4. To each there own, this is my favorite part of new CZCW, If you want to put on the best possible show why limit who can work with who.

Edit: As for real life, we need more of it IMO

You are one of the first people to give a reasonable response to this so I appreciate that and I agree to each there own. I would say I am more forgiving because it is in a video game and I can just change it on my own.

The reasons why I do not like it in real life is because it is simply not realistic, yes I know wrestling and realism do not always work. But I also don't want to see a 200+ pound dude wrestling a woman who is like 140 (Even with men I am not a huge fan of that.). Wrestling might be fake but one false move and that is it. It is bad enough when you have two guys in there who are the same size and have roughly the same strength.

  5. With MAW becoming a dev company I'm really liking the look of CZCW as my main promotion this year. Trying to make them into a top company with an integrated womens dvision looks like it's going to be a fun challenge. What's everyone elses thoughts so far?

It has always been one of my favorite promotions but I do not like the integrated Women's Division. I do not like it in real life and I do not like it in here either. I'll either give the Women's Division their own division or not play the promotion at all.

  6. Disagree with you on Oliver. I love the guy. To my mind, he's the guy that really makes Injustice sing as a gimmick rather than just being another bit. Physically you aren't wrong. But then, I've always found being "a credible threat" a bit overrated in wrestling. If the guy were being presented as a brawler or a Mr. Olympia candidate then I'd be right there with you. But the guy is portraying a whiny little punk who happens to be a speed merchant. As such, who cares if he's imposing or not? He's perfect for the role he's given.

If anybody feels like they need to be out of Injustice, it's Kotto. Good talent don't get me wrong. But I don't see the fit. Myron Reed's place is obvious. He's been with the group since Rich Swann started it up. With Jordan Oliver, it's just his (in-character) nature.. But Kotto? People loved him and vice versa until the eye injury. Then suddenly he came back and had a hate on for everything. It's never really made any sense. Wish they'd get him out and put someone with a better beef in his place.

I think you might have sold me on maybe not disliking him as much. He reminds me a lot of X-Pac, who I hated long before I even knew what X-Pac heat was. But that is the reaction they are trying to get and that means he is doing his job well. Or at least in my case.

Because it is usually hard for me to dislike a wrestler based on character alone. I need to read something about how they are in real life in order for me to dislike them. He is managed to get me to dislike him based only on his interviews, which is something.

Sort of half and half here with Ol' Mancer. Definitely share the love. His feuds with Jimmy Havoc and The Dynasty have been pure wrestling fun. No doubt about it.

But I gotta take issue with the Stone Cold comparison. Just don't see it. I look at Mance I see more a Dick Murdoch. A Dirty Dick Slater. Maybe a better looking Bunkhouse Buck. Nothing about him really reminds me of Stone Cold. But then, maybe I'm not the best judge either. For many years "Stone Cold" struck me as a pale imitation in his own right. I always liked and respected the skills of Austin the man but in his prime I could never take "Stone Cold" seriously. It always felt like he was some city dude trying too hard to playact at being the badass than actually being one. Heck for the war with Mr. McMahon, I was always on Vinnie's side because "Stone Cold" felt so over the top and out of proportion.

Whereas with Mancer, I can actually believe he is the good ole country boy fighting for the people, swigging his light beers and yada yada. If you're gonna sell me Warner as an Austin copycat, then you'd better be telling me that Austin invented the role and Warner's been perfecting it. Because Mance has always felt more authentic than "Stone Cold" ever did in his prime. Mance has layers to him such as Uncle Moonman to ground him that the single note feeling "Stone Cold" never did.

To be fair to Austin, I have come to accept him as Stone Cold over the years. But that's mostly been because he kept running with the role after he ceased to be relevant and seemingly faked it until he made it. And looking back in retrospect, I have caught on to elements of Austin's backstory that would have made "Stone Cold" easier to swallow had they been pointed out to me in the moment. Pre-WWE experiences that would have informed the Stone Cold attitude I was too blind to consider in the moment. But yeah. My perspective on Stone Cold probably isn't the best because of how long it took me to buy in.

I never really saw either Slater or Murdoch when they were younger so I do not have that frame of reference. By the time I saw them they were both near the end of their careers and they would lose more often than they would win. I am not sure if they even got promo time.

I am going by the voice which is almost a dead ringer for Stone Cold. Even the way he cuts a promo, he does pauses in an interview the way Steve used to. The whole beer thing is the obvious one.

I fully understand not buying Steve as Stone Cold. It was a shock to the system seeing him go from Stunning Steve in WCW to how he was in ECW and then Stone Cold. I was a fan when he was Stunning Steve but really there was not much to him at that time.

Will definitely agree with you about Alicia being easy on the eyes but I'm not quite as big a fan of her as backstage intervewer. She always feels a little bit uncomfortable and out of her element in that role. Maybe that ease off with time but at the moment, I'd prefer someone else backstage.

It could be me finding her attractive has caused me to overlook her faults. Or maybe it is because I have been following her YouTube and so I am actually happy to see her "make it" somewhere. She was with AEW for one show I believe and I was happy for her to be there as well. But I do see where you are saying she comes across as a bit uncomfortable.

  7. Although I'm not necessarily inclined to believe that last point because MLW just did a barnburner of an empty arena match in the loser leave battle between Mance Warner and MJF. But Mance and Max fought over a wider swath of arena. They fought with greater energy and urgency. They just let it all hang out.

Saw this in the AEW thread and thought, "We might as well have a place for MLW to be talked about."

I am not sure why but for some reason MLW seems to be the only promotion that really captures my interest right now. Yes I will watch the WWE and AEW (Mostly during commercial breaks for other shows) but I am just not a huge fan of what they are putting out.

I tried the NWA and if any promotion should peak my interests it should have been that. But I simply could not get into it.

I am actually saddened by how far ROH and TNA have fallen. Both their rosters are nowhere near as good as they once were.

But MLW has been the one promotion that has given me my wrestling fix. It reminds me of a smaller scale WCW or TNA with a mix of ECW for good luck.

Yes there are some wrestlers I am not fond of. Jordan Oliver being at the top of that list. I mean come on there is no way you can convince me that, that human toothpick is a credible threat to anyone. I will say though, I loved Injustice's war with the referees storyline.

I also cannot buy Simon Gotch as a heel who should be feared. To me he is always going to be a Vaudevillain. Yes that is me typecasting him but I stand by what I said. Every time I see him I automatically think of his dumb WWE gimmick.

As for my personal favorites on the roster right now. I like Tom Lawlor, I think he is doing a great job as a heel you love to hate. He is so over the top with a lot of the stuff he does.

Mance Warner. Ol' Mancer is awesome. I loved his feud with Jimmy Havoc and I really have enjoyed his feud with the Dynasty. Yeah he might come across as a little bit of a Stone Cold copycat but I still enjoy him. His matches and the angles they put him in are often the highlight of the week. Plus it is always great when Uncle Moonman shows up.

The Dynasty. They are just great. I wish MJF would have stayed but the others are still highly entertaining. They have not really done much with Gino Medina yet so I really do not have an opinion of him. But the other two are great heels. I could see Hammerstone having a face run down the road. Holliday is great as the snobbish heel, I love it when he refers to the fans as consumers.

She's not a wrestler but I really like Alicia Atout. First off she is absolutely beautiful, but beyond that I think she does a great job as a backstage correspondent. I have been a fan of her since I first saw her on YouTube and it is great to see her working for MLW.

  8. @Blake Trask @Blackman:

Thank you both for the replies. What both of you put is what I have been reading/hearing (on YouTube) about the game. In that it is very short and it feels a little rushed. Also, the characters are not very likable and some of the story is weak.

Sadly I have never played Until Dawn, I own an XBox One and it never came out for that system. I actually planned on buying a PS just for that game a few years ago, because the game sounded awesome. But in the end I decided against it because most games are not exclusive to systems anymore and by that point I had far too many XBox games. I just could not justify buying a new system for one or two exclusive games.

Blake, I really appreciate the in depth review and it has helped me. I think I will probably end up getting it because I tend to enjoy those sort of choose your own adventure type games.

  9. Has anyone played The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan? It looks fantastic but every review I see is mixed. Some people say it is great, others say it sucks. You usually do not come across such a wide gap of people either hating it or loving it.
  10. I forgot to say anything about this, but I was shocked a couple of months ago when I saw a preview of a new Jigsaw movie which stars Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson. Shocked because I never even heard anything about this. Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians of all-time (Though I do like George Carlin and Eddie Murphy slightly better) and Samuel L. Jackson is well Samuel L. Jackson. SLJ can make any movie he is in great just by him being in it.

To see them in it and it is a SAW movie, man I don't care if it sucks I want to see it.

  11. Oh, I get that dated reference, and I approve!

I find that I agree with Jim Cornette on a lot of things. Is it weird that I love Jim Cornette and AEW too? Some folks, including Jim himself, might say that's impossible, and yet... here I am.

    Dated references for the win!

I think you can agree with him and be a fan of AEW as well. I find myself agreeing with him on a lot of stuff but I also liked ECW and he was not a fan of that. I don't hate hardcore wresting either, though some of it has gone too far.

For me parts of AEW were always going to be tough for me to get into. Mainly because I have always disliked Kenny Omega and the Bucks.

Even before Jim was complaining about them on a regular basis I did not like them. If anything it is because Jim disliked them so much that I began following him more closely.

I disliked the Bucks going back to TNA. They just never seemed threatening to me, they looked like two guys you would see in a sucky backyard wrestling promotion. I find their humor to be annoying and I hate how they have killed the super kick as a finisher.

In regards to Kenny Omega, I just never got it. When I first started seeing him in ROH I was willing to give him a shot. But he just came across as a guy who was over hyped, (At the expense of people who were regulars on the ROH roster) had terrible looking hair, and he carried a broom around with him because he was called the cleaner. If that was supposed to be mob related why have him carry a broom around? His promo skills had and still have a lot to be desired. I truly do not understand why so many people love this guy.

Now people will say, "What about his five star matches." To which I say, "I don't really care." Honestly unless a wrestler is absolutely terrible, I probably will not notice how good they are in the ring.

Now I am not saying I am totally against AEW. They have wrestlers I like. Just to name a few...

Cody has shown he is not just another WWE midcard guy, that he has the talent to be in the spot he is in.

Jericho has been at the top of his game there and has managed to reinvent himself yet again.

MJF (Though I liked him a lot more in MLW. The way the Dynasty played off each other is fantastic and I would love to see Hammerstone and Holliday brought into AEW to work with MJF).

Kaz, Christopher Daniels, Scorpio Sky. Daniels is one of my favorite wrestlers right now and Kaz and Sky have been great in the SoCal stable. Is it a stable? Whatever it is considered.

Pac is awesome. The dude just looks like a jerk and I always find his matches entertaining.

Darby Allin, I am not sure what it is about him but I like him. He needs better looking ring gear.

Dustin Rhodes, I know the Goldust gimmick is his career defining gimmick. But I have always disliked that character. When I first saw him in WCW I became a fan and I remember being angry when he went to the WWF because I knew they were going to saddle him with some stupid gimmick. I mean he did a good job of making a bad gimmick memorable but I am just glad he is back to being Dustin again.

Allie, I loved her run in TNA and I think that AEW could do so much more with her.

There are more that I like and more that I dislike but I am not going to go on and on as this post is already too long.

  12. Regarding somebody I got the chance to meet, my parents took me to a WCW signing when I was like 5 or 6. Miss Elizabeth, Bobby Heenan, and then-WCW United States Champion Bret Hart, my childhood favorite. My parents still have a picture with his arm around me and the title on the table in front of us.

I remembering meeting Big John Studd at a 7-Eleven in Providence, Rhode Island when I was a kid. He was there signing autographs and I was scared crapless to meet him. I don't recall how old I was but I think it was during his hiatus from the WWF.

I was scared because he had been a heel for all those years and so as a kid I was not sure I wanted to meet him. I recall there was this kid waiting outside in line to meet him when I was next in line. This kid (I would say he was a teenager) pressed his face up against the glass of the store window and John put his hand on the other side and his hand had to be twice the size of the kid's face. When I finally got to meet him, he must of realized I was scared of him because he stood up and knelt down next to me to sort of talk on my level (he was sitting at a table most of the time).

I honestly do not remember what he said, but whatever it was made me no longer scared of him.

  13. Orange Cassidy is entertaining as hell and a good worker.

The way I look at him is, if I a non-wrestling fan were to watch him they would probably roll their eyes and ask me, "Do you like this horsecrap?" No would be my reply but it is just my opinion I am not going to say anyone is wrong for disagreeing with me. Different strokes, for different folks. What you talkin about Willis (Nobody will probably get that dated reference.)?

I tend to agree with Jim Cornette when it comes to Orange Cassidy. It just makes wrestling and the fans of wrestling look hokey.

  14. If I am not doing a diary game for it then I really do not plan. If I am doing a diary game for it then I sort of plan.

For a diary game I sort of know what I am going to do but I try to be flexible enough to do something else. For instance if people like the way I write Marc Speed, but I had no initial plans to do anything with him. Well he will end up being featured more and someone else might be put on the back burner.

I never write down any plans and just recall from memory what I would like to do.

  15. Giant Baba and Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Stan Hansen and Dory Funk Jr. - 30

I know very little about Japanese wrestling but I do know Baba and Jumbo. This is a tough one because an argument could be made for either side and the argument would be correct. Shoot, I'll just flip a coin here.

Harley Race, Mitsuharu Misawa and Kodo Fuyuki vs. Atsushi Onita, Akio Sato and Takashi Ishikawa - 30

Genichiro Tenryu vs. George Takano - 20

The Great Kabuki vs. Ashura Hara - 20

Mitsuo Momota vs. Terry Funk - 15

Chavo Guerrero and Masanobu Fuchi vs. Apollo Suguwara and Shinji Sasazaki - 15

TIEBREAKER: Which match will be match of the night? The main event.

  16. So do people actually think Matt Hardy is good at cutting promos or do they enjoy the Broken Matt thing ironically? They’re so forced, it’s like he’s an unbearable parody of a character he’s seen in a bad horror film. And they’re so clunky; they remind me of the awkward ramblings from a bad efed character. Yet during his TNA run and now during his early AEW stuff, I see fans on Twitter going crazy as if he’s an all-time great. Just because he’s ditched his actual accent and randomly inverts language (hole of ass, etc.) doesn’t mean he’s suddenly some legendary promo guy.

I’m fairly sure I’ll be in the minority on this one because his schtick seems to have resonated hard with fans online at least but I’m at a loss for why people find it entertaining. (And that’s not a judgement on other people, plenty of things I like that I’m sure others find equally confusing)

For me when he first started doing it in TNA, I enjoyed it because of the novelty of it. I always liked Matt more than Jeff (I actually never liked Jeff) and so it was great to see him have the opportunity to break out of his brother's shadow and reinvent himself. That being said, it does wear thin after seeing it.

I think you might have hit the nail on the head when you said people might be enjoying it ironically. That seems to be a good portion of what the fan base does. How else can anyone explain the love of Orange Cassidy?

  17. Also, hello everyone, it's been a few years :-p

Hey brashley, long time no see. You here for the TEW hype or just strolling? 😎

Not so much a comment on what is being talked about, but I wanted to echo what Blackman said. I cannot recall the last time I saw you posting in here. Glad to see you are still doing commentary.
