Having a bunch of duplicated angles simply for minor/major variations would be tedious... Also having another click for booking would also be tedious but I think the second is the lesser of 2 evils... Anything that reduced tedious stuff is a big improvement for TEW... I find that the clicking has gottent better over the years but has not reached a threshold where I don't at times get tired of the clicking and drop down menus when booking. It certainly seems that this iteration may reduce alot of that and will hopefully be more in my comfort zone as far as clicks go. Dragging for booking will help alot...

People are (as expected :p) completely miunderstanding the difference between what should be designated as a minor or major angle.

Basically, a minor angle is the little things that go into a show that don't really effect a show grade. You don't remember guys walking to the ring, the announcers hyping up a match for later and little things like that. They don't develop character or advance a feud, they are just parts of the show that happen. They can effect the crowd, but they don't get people over. These are MINOR angles.

MAJOR angles is anything designed to actually advance storylines, develop character or in any way contribute to the show. The majority of angles should be in this category by default as most angles actually do contribute to the development of a worker or his storyline.

So, to take an example from earlier... The Rock walking to the ring for a match at any point where he was an active wrestler is a minor angle. The Rock walking to the ring for a match as the surprise partner of someone is a major angle. The Rock showing up in the arena at any point during his regular wrestling career is a minor angle. The Rock showing up unexpectedly now would be a major angle... the difference being that one is a run of the mill appearance that psyches up the crowd as part of the show and the other being a surprise that is actually big news. A hype angle vs a debut/surprise type angle.

I've not seen the updated angle file yet but I imagine almost everything in the default 08 dataset is probably set to majorm, with just a few exceptions for some hype angles. :)

A "Wrestlemania" entrance (John Cena driving in, etc.). Although it really doesn't improve the storyline, that could potentially be a "WoW" factor for the overall night.

Also, another exception in my eyes, is almost everytime Undertaker has a pretty good match coming, when his entrance music hits... It doesn't just hype the crowd, it sets a mood. There have been times when it's "NOT" that big of a deal, but there are alot more times when just him coming to the ring is not only a crowd hyper, but a mood setter as well, which effects the show (Undertaker's Entrance was AWESOME!).

The first time DX re-united, was a big mood setter (even those that hate them have to admit a few years back when they first re-united, taking over the show bassically, was awesome.).

Things like an "Unexpected" Twist (such as what Derek said with the Rock).

IN other words, I think the understanding that there will be alot of duplicate angle's, is probably pretty true...

A diva gets ready for a match (No biggie). TRISH STRATUS gets ready for a Match (BIG DEAL). No one expected to see Trish.

Even if they don't effect the show (because of time limits or whatever reason), they will effect the match right before it. If you get a great angle in right before a "so-so" match, that match can surprise you with the rating it gets, which means even a one minute angle can indirectly help the show.

The angle's that are meant to improve the show, do as well. As Derek said, and I have had it happen to me countless times, you can end up with a show rating higher then any match you had, a direct effect on the angle's.

You can even see for yourself in some of the diary's.

I'm one of the people that does angles purely for hype. Character development and everything else happens inside the ring. For me, the "Entertainment" category for skills doesn't even matter to me when I'm hiring workers. The only time I look at those skills is when I have a lame owner goal saying, "Do not hire anyone with lower than C- charisma". That bugs the hell out of me sometimes, especially when I have match ratio at 100%! Only time I ever really use angles is when I do have a worker with decent microphone / charisma skills, they can go out and do an interview about their upcoming match... other than that - angles are just fluff to me.

You're gonna love the Dirt Sheet feature, it'll show you why things like charisma and star quality are important no matter what kind of promotion you run. Sure, it's less important in a match driven promotion but charisma still helps your guys to get over even through matches which can lead to higher match ratings which leads to more overness and so on... :)

Yup. Comradebot made it a speciality with EWA, and I've done it a couple times with TCW. Other times, they've just saved the show before the main event.

I'm gonna be happy with what we've got even if it is just a static thing set in the editor, but I agree that this would certainly make things more flexible if it could be set when booking an angle. (and if they were set to either minor/major as default, respectively.. it wouldn't be any extra clicking unless your booking went outside the common use of the angle)

Still, bring on TEW10 either way!

Regarding Predator Hiring:

I hope this means that people like Air Attack Weasel will get hired for 5 appearance contracts. I mean the guy was born to job and he never gets hired.

Same with people like Bob Casey etc.

The journal entry very specifically says it is a feature for large companies hiring big name workers; I'm not sure how you could read that description and get to thinking it's a feature that would involve guys like Weasel or Casey. It seems like this is another case of reading the title of the entry and ignoring the actual content.
