Why do i need to see the part-timer destroying every single guy? PPV was worth it for that AJ - Cena 5 stars match. That was awesome. Balor vs Rollins was just meh. And Balor won. Eh, i like Balor, and i'm glad someone finally won a world title in their debut ppv, but one episode of WWE explaining why one guy in paint is in paint is not enough to make me care for him being in paint. He will need more to convince me of the whole demon thing on Raw. I also think the almost one month where they promoted the match was not good enough for me to care about Balor winning. But maybe it's just me.

I enjoyed the PPV overall, but I'm pretty confused about the placement of the matches. I don't get how you let your last 2 matches of the end either "not take place" or "end prematurely due to stoppage". That was the head scratcher to me. Why not put the US title match a couple matches down in the card so that those two segments aren't back to back?

<p>Sorry if this is a bit ranty.</p><p> </p><p>

With the exception of the Cena-Styles match, I didn't really care for much on this show.</p><p> </p><p>

The preshow stuff was ok.</p><p> </p><p>

Enzo/Cass vs. Jericho was decent.</p><p> </p><p>

Sasha/Charlotte had so much potential, but after the botch at the beginning all I was doing was worrying about Sasha, so that kind of took me out of that one, and I don't like the result.</p><p> </p><p>

Miz/Crews was a throwaway, Tag Title match was meh, Smackdown World Champion match was decent, the six women tag was ok, Balor/Rollins was underwhelming, but still kinda good. I would've preferred a Rollins win. Rusev/Roman was a waste of everything, and it was followed up by a 10 minute KFC commercial...</p><p> </p><p>

Brock Lesnar bores me. The time he did his thing to Cena, that was amazing. Completely unexpected, great moment. Everything he has done since then has been trying to do the exact same match. Plodding matches where he takes at least 10 minutes to German Suplex someone 50 times. Yawn. It doesn't work anymore because it's not unexpected. Ending for this particular Bork match was dumb. At least we briefly got Mauro and Graves on the same commentary team!</p><p> </p><p>

So yeah, wasn't a fan of this one. Enjoyed Takeover far more.</p>

<p>Finished takeover, a few thoughts....</p><p> </p><p>

Might be the hottest crowd I've seen, which makes everything seem better. The show was solid. I don't like Joe losing so soon. Wondering if his jaw might legitimately be hurt.</p><p> </p><p>

Random, probably stupid thought before the match with Nakamura's entrance. The violin was great, but when he does his thing laying back on the ropes.... if he ever goes heel they should pair him with eva marie given his red outfit and he can feign injury doing that motion before the match.</p><p> </p><p>

interesting that the crowd chose Roode to cheer and the face in the match to boo. Speaking of which one of Joe's security guys looks like almas to me.</p><p> </p><p>

Tag match was great</p><p> </p><p>

The hot crowd covers it well, but I'm starting to get annoyed at how many near falls are constantly in the matches.</p><p> </p><p>

Lita looks great.</p><p> </p><p>

With the reactions the ex-TNA guys got, assuming that's not all just from a super hot crowd in general, it makes me wonder if they know what they lost and can duplicate that loaded of a roster they had a few years back. </p><p> </p><p>

Not a fan of the CWC trophy they unveiled. Looked boring. Hoping it ends up like the original LU title in that someone destroys it and we get a better one.</p>

Lesnar vs Orton was pure garbage. Good enough show though. Lesnar just needs to go away. I don't care if he did what was planned or went into business for himself, it was idiotic. The one elbow strike where Orton just stopped selling and is clearly knocked out made me feel uneasy. Then he just kept going. Pure garbage.

I wish the Universal title didn't have a red strap and just had red behind the WWE logo. The red strap just reminds me of the TNA Legends and TNA Women's tag titles.

Didnt think I would see a Cena match be a match of the year candidate. I hated how the laat two matches ended like that, overall I liked it, didn't agree with the match order. If you're gonna have your last match end like that at least make that earlier on the card with one of the world titles or Styles/Cena as the main event. Felt duped with LesnarOrton it was strikes in the corner and suplexes..

<p>All would have been ok if Brock gave the other McMahon a f5 to close show. I'm sure that would have been the most satisfying end to a show. Oh well. </p><p> </p><p>

Yes, you certainly know what you're getting with Brock. </p><p> </p><p>

Cena vs AJ was one of those matches that remind me why I still like Wrestling. Yes, all their moves were kicked out of, so what? Some reviews painting this as a negative, and we all have our opinion, but I thought this was great. Glad AJ won. Really enjoying him as a heel here.</p>

Problem was them trying to reproduce the same effect in every other match. Cena vs AJ is defs one of the reasons why I still watch WWE these days. Good hype, perfect execution, great story telling and one heck of an ending. That was awesome.</p><p> </p><p> My one problem with this feud was them billing it as a match everyone wanted to see for years. I'm sure when AJ was not on WWE, Cena was not even in the top 5 of dream opponents that most people wanted to see for him when he went to the WWE. But then again, the match was so damn good that even that ended up being good story telling. Lesnar vs. Orton was just garbage with an ending that should not be happening in your 2nd biggest show of the year, considering the quality of the match...but Shane no selling the F5, while dumb, was still beautiful to watch and made me laugh. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Thank god, I'm not the only one that is so over Brock Lesnar. And since Randy Orton is another of my least favorite wrestlers on the planet, this main event was always going to be a disaster. At least they cut it short, I guess? Not that I wish Orton harm, or anything.</p><p> </p><p>

I think for me, the balloon full of enthusiasm started deflating with the tag team match. I had really hoped for either a title change or at least a full on battle that put the Club on the map, but instead they reinforced that tag team wrestling in the WWE is a j o k e. Otherwise, most matches were at least decent, and a few were good, but the pacing seemed so strange.</p><p> </p><p>

So what's the injury tally? Sasha Banks back injury (though she was slated for surgery even before the event, apparently), Balor shoulder, Orton possible/probable concussion?</p>

<a href="https://streamable.com/8e8a" rel="external nofollow">https://streamable.com/8e8a</a></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

What do we think went wrong here? I assume after looking at it again that this was supposed to be a fall away slam attempt. Based on the "oh yea, i was supposed to hurt my back for the keyfabe" reaction, it had to be something to do with the back (maybe a sidewalk slam off the top?)</p><p> </p><p>

What made Charlotte panic and just drop her?</p>

<p>So Meltzer reports about an altercation directly after the show between Jericho and Lesnar (which basically was about a misunderstanding), but in it spells out that the ending of the match was basically according to plan. </p><p> </p><p>

Which makes me wrong, but mostly just even more baffled at the booking. If a mistake was made and the main event was cut short because of an injury, that's excusable. Planning to cut the main event short, for what? Is this another case of Vince having a hardon for the last muscle beast on the roster, and his idea of a cool finish? </p><p> </p><p>

So here's my thoughts that nobody cares about. Haven't read the rest of the thread yet.

- Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens

It was ok. Bit sloppy in places but entertaining and the right team won. Nothing wrong with it.

- Sasha Banks © vs. Charlotte

Oh my god, make it stop. Maffew could pretty much just run this match for the next Botchamania. I don't think Charlotte pulled off one move properly. As cool as the top rope Razor's Edge spot was, Sasha landing on her head was ugly. Everything Charlotte did was ugly. The spot where Charlotte just dropped Sasha on the ropes for no reason was ugly. I was glad this was over, for Sasha's sake. Made even more cringeworthy in comparison to how good the 6-woman tag was later on. It wasn't completely bad, the top rope Boston Crab was cool, but overall it was uncomfortable to watch.

I would complain about the Women's Title being on second, but after seeing it I was quite thankful they gave me time to forget it. The Legit Boss is going to need a Legit Neckbrace for a while. Will Ospreay probably has one she can borrow.

- The Miz vs. Apollo Crews

It happened, I guess, and nobody nearly died. So there's that. I quite liked it actually, Crews got to show off his signature stuff and nobody accidentally called him Apollo Creed. So overall pretty decent.

- AJ Styles vs. John Cena

I might be the only one. I'm probably the only one. Well, I know I'm not the only one but I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion: I kinda hated it. It's fantastic that Styles won, of course. But the match itself was like something out of WWE 2K17. They basically just used every move they know, sometimes twice for good measure, and kicked out of everything. And after all that, Styles won with a forearm smash. Let's be honest here, it's a forearm smash. He didn't win with two Styles Clashes, he didn't win with the modified AA. He won with a forearm smash. I guess Cena used up all his stamina bar and mistimed the kickout minigame. I lost interest part way through and started playing TEW on the second monitor.

- Gallows & Anderson vs. The New Day

This was a fun match, for what it was. Big E's return was pretty cool, not sure how I feel about a babyface running in and causing a DQ in a title match, and Jon Stewart... ugh, but the match kept me interested. But yeah, the heels win via DQ and Jon Stewart is a babyface? WWE is confusing.

- Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler

I felt sorry for these guys. Firstly the world title match is in the middle of the show a few months after main eventing Wrestlemania, and the fans could not have given less of a crap. I guess going on after Cena/Styles was going to kill any match. The match itself entertained me, but I was a bit gutted that Ziggler didn't look more of a threat. He got a bit of offense in, but I felt that Ambrose mostly just ignored it. I never once felt that Ziggler stood much of a chance, other than after he hit the ZigZag (which is still a lame name for a finisher).

- Women's Six Man Tag

Honestly, in with a shout for MOTN for me. I mean, I'd say that for any match Natalya is in, but after Charlotte had done her best to kill the division (and her opponent) earlier, this was a welcome surprise. Nikki Bella being on the heel team was... odd, but I guess unavoidable, after all it wasn't a babyface who got suspended two days before the PPV. But yeah, I enjoyed this match a lot. Probably third best, overall. Not bad for a throwaway match only added to the card at the last minute (and then presumably changed afterwards. I mean, whether Eva Marie would've actually competed or not or whether Nikki Bella was always supposed to return, I don't know, but...).

- Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins

I loved the touch of Rollins appearing at ringside during Balor's entrance and not having one of his own. His ring attire was cool too. Balor's entrance was pretty cool, but it's no Nakamura or Roode now, is it? The match itself was... ok? Lost interest at various points throughout. 75% of Balor's offence was dropkicks and stomps, which got a bit old. They did some cool stuff though. I still don't like the Coup de Grace as a finisher, especially for a main event guy (hell, champion now). The belt looks horrendous, also, but that's not their fault. Edit: Reading this back it sounds like I didn't like the match much. I did, especially compared to the rest of the card. It was fun. Just not... y'know, great.

- Rusev vs. Roman Reigns

Eh. I'm not sure a 5 hour PPV needed this to pad it out. Especially not AFTER BOTH WORLD TITLE MATCHES. Also, considering what we've seen the other wrestlers do to each other earlier on the show, it made Rusev look a bit of a pussy to have to be medically disqualified with 'broken ribs' after a bit of ringside brawling. Especially as that all happened BEFORE the spear. Overall, pointless and uninteresting.

- Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton

You're ****ing kidding me, right? "Fifteen years in the making", and we get a glorified squash match with a really, really weird ending? Orton hit three moves. Count them, three. RKO on the table, second rope DDT, another RKO. Then Lesnar kicked out, ruining the RKO's effectiveness.

Meanwhile, Lesnar throws Orton around like a ragdoll, busts him worse than Eddie Guerrero that one time, and wins via TKO?

I don't really blame the fans for crapping all over it. After five hours, that's the payoff?

I'm glad I watched Takeover on Saturday. At least I saw one good wrestling PPV this weekend.
