Sandow is actually my favorite thing in the WWE right now, followed by the Shield (who are declining in interest for me since their promos have stopped). However, I see Cody fighting him for the case at SummerSlam and winning, which is slightly disappointing even though I like him too.

Sorry maybe I should have posted it in white.

No need, it's not like that was a spoiler.. the thing is with those dirtsheets is, they could be legit. But even that doesn't matter as plans simply change all the time. That plan could've been a hot prospect one day and then they decide to scrap it the day after. That's why I think looking upon dirtsheets of MITB/world title/heel & face turn plans are futile, even if they go through with it they'll change a little something midway to switch it up.

That said, I hope Sandow keeps the briefcase and runs all the way to the top with it.

Cody and Damien are likely to feud over the breifcase at some point and their plan (again this is just rumored and what I have heard but it sounds like it could be true) is to have Cody Rhodes defeat Damien Sandow for the breifcase and at that point they could do a full face turn with Cody because that would be perfect timing to do it IMHO.

I haven't read any dirtsheets but I still figured that was exactly where they were going because Cody's obviously got significantly more upside than Sandow.

Been recovering from laser eye surgery so I'm paying catch-up.

NXT Highlights:

- Kruger beat Cesaro and Zayn in a #1 Contenders match for the NXT Title

- Ric Flair was at ringside for his daughter Charlotte's impressive wining debut

- Bray Wyatt started a feud with Sheamus

- Neville & Graves beat The Wyatt Family for the NXT Tag Titles

Verdict: Great show. Whoever is been booking and scripting NXT is doing an amazing job.

Smackdown Highlights:

- Vince naming Vicki the new GM ahead of Teddy, Booker and Maddox. And Vicki heeling it up more than ever.

- Big E friend-zoning AJ after her tantrum :D

- Axel vs Jericho

- Sandow/Rhodes segment

- RVD vs PTP

- Orton beating Del Rio

Verdict: Solid show to follow-up good MITB and Raw shows.

Raw Review:

Sheamus vs Del Rio - Good match. ADR's character is showing consistency, from targeting Ziggler's head to targeting Sheamus's leg.

Christian vs Titus - Decent match. Titus looked strong.

Henry/Usos vs Shield - I prefer Henry as a heel but this could be a good match at SummerSlam.

Ziggler vs Young - Ziggler on a winning streak. The other half of PTP put in a good showing. Ziggler vs Big E should be fun.

Fandango vs Rhodes - Decent match with bonus Sandow on commentary.

Punk and Heyman - Solid promo. Best vs Beast!

RVD vs Barrett - Decent match. I'd like to see RVD get involved with the Wyatt Family. He needs a feud before his return hype wears off.

Bryan vs Swagger - Average warm-up match. Bryan vs Cesaro - Awesome! I expected no less from 2 of WWE's best workers and they were given plenty of time. Bryan vs Ryback - Props to Bryan for getting a good match out of Ryback after already wrestling 2 matches.

Verdict: Good Raw dragged down a little with too many average matches in the middle. We have a few interesting feuds brewing for SummerSlam. I love the way Bryan is being booked.

It was a spectacular bout, no doubt. Cesaro has made me a believer yet again. Funny enough, Ryback on the other hand apparently got told backstage for failed protection on Bryan regarding the table spot, I think.

Raw did drag in the middle, but Punk's segment delivered yet again. Was refreshing to see a babyface cut a promo about not backing down and not quitting without making it all.. Cena-like. Though Cena shows intensity in certain promos too but sparingly.

Alrighty, so I attended Smackdown! in Houston last night. It was, all things considered, a very entertaining show.

My thoughts (and some results) on it, as it's my first exposure to the WWE since May (I've been out of town for most of the summer): (SPOILERS IN WHITE TEXT BELOW THIS!)

SERIOUSLY, SPOILS

1. Main Event taping match of R-Truth vs. Wade Barrett was amazing, as I have come to expect from Barrett. Sadly, I see R-Truth has reverted to his "WHATS UP?!" rapper gimmick, and it's just as awful as I remember. He can't rap, it's annoying, and it made me feel all the better when Barrett finally caught him with the Bullhammer.

2. RVD!!! RVD!!! RVD!!! I have to say, I didn't expect to come back home and discover, of all people, Rob Van Dam had resurfaced in the WWE... and I'm glad he did. He looked just as fluid and athletic as ever in the ring.

3. So, Christian... he's totally going to retire within the year, isn't he? This whole "one more match" thing, it definetly smells of him trying to go out with one, last high note. Which he absolutely deserves, he's one of the best the business has ever seen and he's never really been given quite the recognition he deserves... which leads me to number four.

4. Tonight's Smackdown! main event (well, the one you folks who didn't attend live will see as the main event) was a triple threat to determine Alberto Del Rio's opponent at Summerslam, after Alberto tried to originally nominate first Ricardo, and then the Brooklyn Brawler, as his opponents. The competitors? RVD, Randy Orton, and... Christian. To say the match did not dissappoint is an understatement: RVD was, as mentioned earlier, absolutely brilliant in the ring, just as he was when I last saw him some years ago. Christian managed to continually keep the crowd involved and showed the rock solid psychology he's always had throughout, and Randy... well, Randy still sucks, but I think he most certainly has what TEW would call "great chemistry" with Rob Van Dam. Won't spoil it, but there's a couple of moments in-ring between them that even I, Randy Orton's biggest hater, admit were absolutely beautiful in-ring work. But...

5. At the end of they, we WILL have "One more match," as Christian delighted my heart by pinning Orton! That's right folks, Summerslam will feature Christian challenging Del Rio for the title! Have to say, I was shocked. Don't get me wrong, I was pulling for him being the hardcore Christian mark I am, but I was surprised to see him walk out the contender. All I can figure, Orton has a free shot already, and RVD just showed back up, so they went with the guy who looks like he may be having his one, last hurrah in the business.

6. Following the match, Del Rio attacked Christian, acted like a general tool, and Ziggler came out and we had a nice match between them just for us ticket paying types.

7. The Usos kinda suck. They beat the marginally better Prime Time Players (only because I think Titus might have a very bright future), but they just seem so "bleh" in every regard.

8. WTF Del Rio, your new music sucks. It's like they turned him heel, and promptly remixed his theme to make it sound more face-like. Not to mention, his old theme is the one he had when he debuted as a heel. I miss it, and it might've been Del Rio's biggest selling point.

9. Antonio Cesaro? A Real American? Well, no reason to hold back on the crazy with that gimmick, is there?

10. At ten, but actually part of the very first segment of the night, the dark match (which I hope makes it onto TV despite clearly being intented as a dark match). I haven't seen any WWE since May, so these guys were wholly new to me...

The Wyatt Family.

Easily the most haunting entrance in recent memory, bringing back memories of the likes of the Undertaker and the Brood. Remember when the WWE took some hapless jobber named Skip Sheffield who had, basically, no character, and repackaged him as the ravenous monster "Ryback", in turn turning him into a star?

I think, one day, we very well could remember that once upon a time there was a jobber named Husky Harris, who was an awful, gimmickless nobody, and was repackaged as the successful Bray Wyatt.

It's great to hear from someone with no real frame of reference that Bray Wyatt is, in fact, awesome.

Also, Christian at this point now has that kiss of death where if you showed him wrestling in front of your friends/girlfriends/casual fans, their first response would probably be, "wow, that guy is old!" Not exactly a good thing for somebody who never had nearly the "star power" of other workers.

You're right, Christian is just a 4 time World Champion. 2 in WWE and 2 in TNA. And he wasn't the biggest star that TNA had during the time he was there. He and Edge didn't have the best matches in the entire WWE during the TLC days. Christian gets NO pop when he comes out even today.

Not being sarcastic at all.

Jack Swagger is a former World Champion. That's all you need to say about how much belts mean these days.

I agree with lazerbeak. Christian definitely lacks that "Holy Crap" aura. He's a 'star' in a certain sense, but he's never been in that top guy mould. There's never been anything particularly special about him. Really good wrestler, lacks the great physique or great promos or compelling character or genuine fire or sheer size that top guys tend to have.

NXT (7/25/13) Review:

Emma vs Paige (Final) - Crowd were 50/50. Paige pulled off a Perfect Plex and a modified cloverleaf. Emma pulled off a superplex. Well-earned "This is Awesome chants" near the end before Paige won. HHH came out to congratulate the first NXT Women's Champion.

Zeb/Cesaro promo - According to Zeb, there are no records for the name Sami Zayn in the system. Because of that and because he previously wore a mask (I marked out hard) he must have crossed the border illegally from Mexico. Brilliant promo that was perfect for the generally more wrestling saavy NXT fans!

Tyler Breeze - Squash debut for Breeze with his Italian male model gimmick, who was more interested in taking selfies on his phone than wrestling. Think Fandango/Ziggler mash-up.

Ascension vs Keegan/English - Squash match for the newly formed O'Brian and Victor tag team.

Sheamus vs Harper - Classic big man brawl initiated by Bray's attack on Sheamus last week. Rowan interfered a few times but Sheamus won with the brogue kick. It was an even match and Harper more than held his own. Wyatt was laughing and applauding Sheamus after the match. To be continued...

Verdict: The Women's Title match and main event were awesome. The other two matches were filler. Using main roster stars to help the rookies get over is a great idea. Another strong show. If you haven't watched NXT before this is the perfect episode to start watching it. Plus it's easy to find a free download.
