The Official WWE / NXT Discussion Thread *May Contain Spoilers*

Is that a thing now? Every wrestler Paul Heyman shows an interest in gets magical powers that make them special and different to everyone else?

Before yesterday, Paul Heyman manages two wrestlers in the WWE. Brock Lesnar and CM Punk. Neither needed Paul to make them special or different. Both frequently lose big match. I dont think a Heyman connection equals magical powers. But if you'd like to expand on your thoughts I'm happy to listen.

Heyman cuts the best heel promos on the roster if you take Punk away. Why not give Joe Henning a rub and capitalize on it? The book on Henning all this time is that he's one of the best workers on the entire roster but never seemed to click with the fans. Punk definitely suffered from similar lack of crowd connections at varying points in his WWE career (which is totally glossed over in his DVD lol where they tried to make it seem liek the crowd always loved Punk but the backstage politics prevented him from going forward). I think a talented mouthpiece like Heyman can do nothing but great things for a young worker that needs that connection. It's not like Henning CANT talk, its just that when he does no one cares. So maybe this helps puts him over for awhile. Maybe it sucks! who knows? All I know is we're treated to greatness. Heyman talking for a worker like Henning makes me "very excite".

Also, this:

http://www.wzronline.com/wrestling-news/why-is-curtis-axel-getting-a-major-push-details.html

Apparently he's been a "Triple H guy" all along, which makes sense. On Opie and Anthony's post show Triple H has put Henning over on several occasions.

I slightly disagree with the article saying it didn't help him bmuch not beating H clean. I think they are building to something. A clean pin would have been nice for Curtis Axel, but what if its building towards a nice feud with a decent PPV match? Doesn't that help out the younger worrker moreso than a clean pin on Raw? And would anyone have bought it? I mean Jey Uso could come out an pin John Cena tomorrow night but all that's really gonna do is make people hate Cena more. I don't see that helping H much at all.

<p>I just find it weird how the term has caught on. CM Punk says it in a promo, and suddenly it's like this new badge of honour to be called a "Paul Heyman Guy". As far as I can tell, all it means is that Heyman likes you, and was willing to fight for you when he had pull backstage. I'm sure under those criteria you could point at half the roster as 'legit' Paul Heyman guys.</p><p> </p><p>

I like Heyman. I like McGuillicutty. Probably a good move to put them together. It's just... that term. Especially when people are going to be discussing who's "really" a Paul Heyman Guy and who was just "called" a Paul Heyman Guy on the show because WWE wanted to push them. As though the terms really means something. This is not just my overreaction to the above conversation. That's just the straw. The camel's back was close to breaking weeks ago. Too many of my friends own the "Paul Heyman Guy" shirt. </p><p> </p><p>

So yeah, no problem with the angle. Purely a vocabulary issue.</p>

Looks like it's actually written by Paul Heyman. I skimmed through it, and some of the people you should expect are on there... Big Show, Miz, Taz, Rey Mysterio, Steve Austin, Rick Rude, but there are quite a few if you want to check it out. </p><p> </p><p> I get what your saying though. <p>Finally got around to watching parts of Raw and reading recaps for the rest. I know this is old hat, but seriously... Triple H is the worst. He's the most unsympathetic babyface since ever, and he seamlessly goes from not getting sympathy in that Brock feud to a concussion storyline? And, oh, by the way, your current #2 champion is out right now with a concussion. But Triple H is so tough and so cool and cares so much about ~THIS BUSINESS~ that he won't let a little thing like that stop him! So he proceeds to interrupt new guy, slap him without repercussion, then easily handle the match for awhile but then oh no that concussion got him. Does it cause him to get pinned in the ring after getting hit with a finisher? Of course not! We basically stop everything to do serious voices while the crowd chants "TRI-PLE-H" in Hunter's own mind and nowhere else. </p><p> </p><p>

Meanwhile, let's close out the show with that mess, and not an amazing six man tag match that features at least 3 wrestlers that could convincingly main event pay per views (and Kofi!) and features great action, because... Triple H, part-time legend is a much bigger name than all those guys. </p><p> </p><p>

Seriously Hunter, you're not Shawn Michaels. You will never have that connection that he had with the crowd. Ever. Stop trying to be cool new step-dad and just realize that you're always gonna be in his shadow because Shawn Michaels was better than you at everything except tearing muscles off his body and spitting water. Just turn heel already. Use the actual resentment that everyone already has in your favor and stop fishing for sympathy.</p>

I won't spoil NXT but everyone with an interest in Sami Zayn needs to watch it. The creative team gave him the debut he deserved. I can see him becoming a crowd favorite pretty quick.

I'll second this. It was a great debut, and an awesome show in general. I don't normally watch NXT, but I may have to now given how great an episode that was. Much better than any raw in recent memory, and William Regal does an awesome job on commentary.

<p>Sami Zayn's debut didn't thrill me. Take away the epic 15+ minute matches with a billion high spots and outrageous nearfalls and... I dunno. Unlike PAC's debut, I didn't see much special in him.</p><p> </p><p>

Glad he's getting this chance though. Massive fan of his indy work.</p>

Finally watching Raw. Heyman said CM Punk came out to no reaction when he debuted on ECW in 2006...Uhhh, Paul, the crowd was chanting "CM Punk" the second his music hit and there were CM Punk signs every where.

Axel's music is awesome. His beard is awesome. With the beard he actually looks like a combination of Curt and Larry.

He was also pretty darn over at Survivor Series 2006, his first PPV appearance, considering the crowd was chanting for him while he was in the ring with DX and the Hardy Boyz.</p>
