The Swanton825
Has Rivers ever been clutch? I can't remember the last time he ever did anything good for San Diego when they needed him to.
Timber
<p>I hear ya. Rivers is always talked about as some elite quarterback. He's good and his numbers are insane but he's gone no where every year. The Chargers are put at the top of many peoples lists but the fail every year. Just sad. </p><p> </p><p> Rivers will go to the Hall of Fame because of the numbers he puts up, but never will he wear a ring.</p><p> </p><p> Go Steelers.</p>
lazorbeak
<p>I think three seasons of elite production is a little early to call someone a hall of famer. He's also been clutch in the past, leading San Diego to comeback victories repeatedly in the season where they went 4-8 and still made the playoffs, and helped them come back in the 4th quarter against the Colts in the post-season.</p><p> </p><p> That said, the Chargers aren't that great because the team's not that great. Rivers is struggling, but who are his receivers? I mean there's Antonio Gates, and then there's, uh... Vince Jackson? Their defense also lost some key guys like Antonio Cromartie, and Norv Torner is a better coordinator than he is a head coach. That said, people still pick the Chargers to win the division every year because up until this year, virtually every other team in the division was abysmal.</p>

He's not a good head coach and was regarded as not a good head coach before the Chargers ever hired him. I share Rex's opinion, a good coach would have won a ring with that team already. The Final Countdown
Against all logic or reason, the Broncos are 4-1 with Tebow this year. I don't understand it, but I'll take it.
Comradebot
Tebow is fun to watch, I'll give him that. And the thing is, with his running ability and the fact he actually seems to make smart reads, he'd be great if his accuracy wasn't so horrid. He looks like he knows where to put the ball, he just can't get it there. But hey, still fun to watch him just plow over defenders. Knew the moment he rolled out he was taking into the endzone... damned if I was right.
Eigan
<p>It seems to me that the media is not at all mentioning that Tebow has been a great game manager so far. He doesn't really turn the ball over. He's also got an impressive TD: Int ratio.</p><p> </p><p> Tebow's accuracy is also tied with the receivers. The receivers have been alarmingly dropping balls in the past two games. Decker had a horrid game against the Jets. Both facets need to improve.</p><p> </p><p> I believe that on the TD drive, Tebow knew where to go pre-snap. If you watched the replays/recaps, he looks to the left a handful of times pre-snap, the Jets' blitz comes, they lose contain, and Tebow scampers into the endzone. He knew he had to beat the edge, and got it done.</p><p> </p><p> In any case, I'm loving the Ws.</p>

Tebow is not dumb and he can throw. I think it takes time for him to get use to the system he played in. He owns countless records in Florida and second in some to John Brantly <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Tebow didn't throw much his first year at Florida because he was getting use to the system plus we had a tremendous passer in Chris Leak. Tebow's throwing will get better and the Bronco's need to get him help everywhere else. The Defense still has age and holes on it side and the Offense needs some more playmakers on that side as well. They need a true RB will Willis getting older and Knowshon pretty much being a bust. They need a WR other then Decker. They need help in a lot of areas, but I truly believe with help Tebow will look a lot better and could be that team's QB for a while.</p>
OldStingberg
Pretty brutal job by the refs in the Vikings/Lions game to miss an obvious facemasking call on the final play of the game. That would have given the Vikings an untimed down on the one-yard line while down by 6. Instead, game over. Don't get me wrong, as a Vikings fan, I'm relieved. I'd much rather have draft position than a meaningless late-season win. But that really sucks for the other teams in the NFC wild card picture. Remianen
Pretty brutal job by the refs in the Vikings/Lions game to miss an obvious facemasking call on the final play of the game. That would have given the Vikings an untimed down on the one-yard line while down by 6. Instead, game over. The refs this year have been awful, by and large. They've been concentrating so much on helmet-to-helmet that they take their eyes off everything but the runner and miss some blatant holds, trips, and personal fouls. I'm hoping they straighten this out before February. Otherwise, we're going to see yet another Super Bowl XL. And as a Broncos fan, what should've been a 'Suck for Luck' season is turning out pretty damn good. I don't care about his mechanics, I don't care about his style, what I care about (and what I think others should care about) is Ws. Having Christian Ponder (or a player like him) sure hasn't helped the Vikings' W-L record much. The kid's improving in the "traditional" aspects of the position....while putting up several cardiac style wins. Tebow's style covers up a lot of the Broncos' deficiencies (not the least of which is a rather ordinary O-line that would probably turn ANY traditional quarterback into David Carr) and allows that defense to gel at the right pace (peaking at the end of the season). True, Von is a beast but all the attention focused on Tebow allows Von to avoid having to answer questions like why he's so rubbish in coverage. It allows him to work on shoring up that part of his game without having to deal with being an ant under a magnifying glass. And oh yeah, I'm willing to bet the Colts trade Peyton before that $28 million bonus comes due in March, especially if they wind up with the number one pick. I'm predicting Washington as the destination. Kyle Shanahan would cream if that happened. One last thing: if Andy Reid refuses to fire Juan Castillo, Andy Reid should be fired. I mean, jeez, that defense went from good to awful and the only major change they made (scheme wise) was bringing in an O-line coach as DC. I mean, why are they not playing more Cover 0 with arguably THREE shutdown corners? Asante is a better corner than Antonio Cromartie and the Jets run Cover 0/Cover 1 constantly. The worst thing that happened to the Eagles was Jim Johnson dying (and Sean McDermott trying to make himself a hot head coaching prospect). There is nothing even close to exotic about this defense and with the talent they have in the secondary, they should be doing a lot of things to help those young linebackers develop. Having Nnamdi Asomugha playing SAFETY on some plays, is inexcusable.
GruntMark
So... Saw some Titans fans speculating (See: hoping) we (the Texans) would rest our starters when we play them in week 17, so they might be able to back into a wild card spot. Jokes on them. All our starters are already on IR.
OldStingberg
I'm not saying the Vikings should intentionally lose the final two games in hopes of getting the number one pick, but maybe it's time to shut Adrian Peterson down. And Percy Harvin. And Jared Allen and Kevin Williams.

TheEdgeOfReason
Why wouldn't they? They had nothing to play for, may as well go for 2, why play OT and risk any injuries when a win or loss doesn't make any tangible difference to them? I hadn't realized the win/lose wouldn't move them up/down, but momentum is a good thing. Now they go on with their last game being a loss by oneida their heads. It's just my opinion though. OldStingberg
If the players' psyches are so fragile that they'll lose a game a week later because of a missed two-point conversion in a meaningless game, that team wouldn't have won the Super Bowl no matter the outcome of that play. Anyway, the Vikings managed to hold onto the number three spot in the draft. I really, really hope they draft Robert Griffin III. Let Ponder play out 2012, take their time bringing AP back, stockpile another top 10 pick, and then go all out behind RG3 in 2013. If by some minor miracle Ponder pulls a Drew Brees and turns things around next year, great. In a world where Carson Palmer is traded for a 1st and 2nd, it shouldn't too hard to get reasonable value back for RG3.
moon_lit_tears
Looking at the game during the week could play with their heads, maybe it won't. Just my opinion that's all. Kind of excited to see my home team take second. First round bye and a home game in round two. Still don't care for them though.
BHK1978
Found this on Yahoo. Oddly enough I would not put it past the Patriots to do this. After all this is the same team that was involved in Spy Gate and also that one Field Goal back in the 70's where the plow driver cleaned the field just for them. Now more than likely this was probably just a mistake but the Patriots have been known to be dirty in the past...

Still doesn't change the fact that Harbaugh should have called a timeout to give Cundiff a chance to lineup. I told my GF as it was happening that the kicker was sprinting on to the field, that can't be good for him setting up for the kick.

The sideline is always pretty hectic, but if it was as frantic as Baltimore has been claiming it was, then they should have called timeout and regained their composure some. Also, Cundiff needs to just own his screw up and stop blaming scoreboards. Take a note from the Niners Kyle Williams and make no excuses.
