However, for football it had to be the Giants beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl. I had a leg injury at the time but I jumped out of my bed in excitement. The dejected look on Tom Brady's face was priceless. Most of all, I knew that all of the Patriots "fans" (most were Dolphins fans in the 80's) that I had to deal with could not talk trash.

Mine is easily -

http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=12948715

I believe the biggest reason they don't have a big sports franchise is because they leagues would want Nevada to ban them from gambling on that sport or that team. Some one was telling me about how they couldn't vote on the UNLV title run because they are in Vegas. I could be wrong of course because this was just word of mouth.

LA has always supported their teams. Hell they even somewhat support the Clippers and Kings still (when the Kings were bad). The have always had problems because similar to the Tampa Bay Rays, they got caught in horrible leases.

Or would you switch to a closer team so that you might have a shot at going to the games and city pride and all that stuff?

With the Skins it's probably a good question. But the Packers are a poor example. That would probably never happen. The Packers are publically traded and I'd have to think the stockholders would shut it down as many of them are also local fans.

It's not exactly what even remotely resembles an almost average sized market, so something had to be done to keep that little piece of history alive.

In the last two decades we have had the Rams leave LA, the Browns leave Cleveland, the Raiders leave Oakland, and the Oilers leave Houston.

So what four or five teams relocated in the last 25 years I bet? So its not like this is so super common occurance it was just a what if. Although since you seem to be a stickler for realism Brother Cap let me revise it.

What would happen if they shut down the packers and a team popped up in LA looking a lot like them QB'd by Aaron Rodgers.

For example what did Browns fans do when they lost their team? Do you just suddenly become a Steelers or Bengals fan, teams you've hated for decades? Do you just stop rooting for a team, what do you do?

Do you just stop rooting for a team, what do you do?

Well, in our case, you can still find the anti-Modell songs from the late 90's on your file sharing services. A bunch of folks used those late 90's Sundays as honeydew days and waited out the return in '99. Some took an NFC team into their hearts during the layover. Some took up with the Panthers or Jags as they were just coming into existence when our team loss occurred. Fans of old teams like ours don't like bandwagoners. So the ability to get in with a backup team on the ground floor was appealing.

And I wouldn't say we hate the Bengals so much. Yes, there is the Battle of Ohio rivalry. But for the most part the hate is reserved for the Ravens. The hate for the Steelers has died down a good bit since the mid-90's. Their base was sympathetic to ours then and generally still is when the topic of how the Ravens came to be comes up. There's still plenty of trash talk back and forth and both sides want to beat the other badly. It's still very much a rivalry. But it's more respectful now than it once was. The hate now is all for those dirty, foul, disgusting Ratbirds. No question who I'll be rooting for or who's radio cast I'll be listening to on Sirius on Thursday. Go Falcons.
