Yeah, that's what I was worried about - he's taken a few nasty shots to the noggin in his time, and some of the stuff he's coming out with is proper 'paranoid delusions' territory.

Of course, that could just be Rampage being Rampage to be fair. :p

Yeah, but the way he slurs his speech sometimes, and the way he keeps taking hits, I'm not so sure. After two real KO's in a row, I think it's time to find a new career. Not worth the brain trauma.

What's bad about the Underground? The thing is, I have Moderators give stupid infractions all the time. If I think it's stupid, I just don't respond back to it.So as long as they aren't a consistent issue for you, either because of their pickiness or actual consistent bad behavior from the user, I just take it in and forget about it.

This is actually the only place I discuss MMA on the internet, mainly because I'm fed up with all the morons on MMA-dedicated forums that think that because they once did evening classes in Jiu-Jitsu that this somehow makes their opinion more valid than anyone else's.

Seriously, from what I've seen, MMA fans are even worse than Gamers for posturing and posing and general keyboard warrior tendencies when they get into a forum environment (obviously that's a huge generalisation, but you know what I mean <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />).

If anyone knows of any decent little MMA communities (I prefer small communities rather than huge ones), I'd be happy to take recommendations. I even thought about starting my own, but I barely have enough time to run the one I already have. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

If that is humanly possible. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I also mainly come here. I don't think a lot of 'mindless' people are playing TEW to be honest. And the 'warrior'-like ones won't be playing WMMA.

Only other places I discuss it are Belgian gamer boards. But MMA/Pro Wrestling fans are generally educated people here, though non-practitioners, and will have read enough trustworthy material to be able to talk about the subject in a decent manner. At the very least we won't be pretentious about it.

I'm going to get in some predictions while I remember:

UFC 146

Junior Dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem (UFC Heavyweight Championship)

Cain Velasquez vs. Frank Mir (heavyweight)

Roy Nelson vs. Antonio Silva (heavyweight)

Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve (heavyweight)

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shane Del Rosario (heavyweight)

UFC 148

Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber (UFC Bantamweight Championship)

Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin (light heavyweight)

Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le (middleweight)

Michael Bisping vs. Tim Boetsch (middleweight)

But I would not be totally shocked if Boetsch upsets Bisping. Bisping turned down Cung Le, which is probably more professional pride than anything else because I think beating Le does more than good with how little he offers and if you lose to Le at this stage, you're probably then several wins away from a title fight.

I think Maynard likely beats Guida, but I really hate that. I'm not a fan of Guida for the same reason I'm not a fan of Frankie Edgar and Guida is tons more exciting to watch as it is. Werdum should beat Russow, Vitor should massacre Wanderlei and Anderson probably slips past Sonnen.

Interesting that you picked Mir over Velasquez. It's a really interesting fight that - both guys have potentially suspect chins, Velasquez has the kind of fight-ending power in his hands to ruin Mir with GnP, but we all now how nasty Frank's guard is... I genuinely can't decide which way this one goes.

As for the rest, yeah, Cung Le was a terrible fight for Bisping. If he wins, everyone's all "oh wow, you beat Cung Le. Big whoop". If Le lands one of those kicks and takes Bisping's head off, everyone points at Bisping and says 'wow, you lost to Cung Le. You're not even close to title contention." It's lose-lose for him really.

Boetsch is a better fight for Bisping both in style and in where he stands in the division. Boetsch is (I think) 3-0 since dropping to MW, and he's a big, powerful guy, a type of fighter that some believe Bisping might struggle against.

Personally, I think Bisping's too quick for him, and lands punches more or less whenever he wants to over three rounds - what he needs to avoid is getting clipped by one of Boetsch's big paws, because I'm not convinced he's got a great chin.

If Bisping wins, he's gone 6-2 from his last 8 since the Henderson fight, although the Sonnen loss was questionable in my eyes. If Boetsch wins, he's 4-0 against pretty decent opposition in the MW division - I reckon the winner is probably only one win away from a shot at getting their ass handed to them by Anderson Silva.

Bisping's still a few wins away again. If he lost at LHW or something I might agree with you, but he lost to the number 1 contender. If Sonnen wins, he's not fighting Bisping in his first defense since he'd just beaten him. If anderson wins, why should he have to defend against a guy who gotten beaten by the dude he just beat?

I mean I know that Sonnen loss was close, but he did lose.

Problem is, there's not many legitimate contenders at MW. Mark Munoz is coming back after surgery, but he's not really fought anyone noteworthy, Wandy is way past his prime, and Chris Weidman still needs a couple of fights. The only realistic challenger is Vitor Belfort, and we all saw what happened last time he fought Silva.

Perhaps if the UFC bring in Luke Rockhold or Hector Lombard (in fact, haven't there been a lot of rumours regards Lombard recently?), then they might get thrown in the mix, but right now, if (and it is an 'if') Bisping beats Boetsch and then one other (let's say Munoz, which I think is the logical matchup depending on when Munoz returns), there's unlikely to be many ahead of him.

I don't disagree that if you lose in a number one contender's match that you should need at least a couple of wins before you get back there, but the truth of it is that there's a real shortage of legitimate contenders at Middleweight right now. There's plenty of prospects (Palhares, Stann, Weidman etc), but there's no-one you can look at and say 'that dude is two wins away from a title shot'.

If he wins big against Wanderlei, a Silva-Belfort rematch would be a huge ticket seller in Brazil.

With that said, Bisping has been told that he's going to be fighting for the title before the year is out.

So either they expect Bisping and Silva to fight twice more this year (after their already scheduled bouts) or they've already got Bisping tabbed to fight the Silva/Belfort winner. Neither would surprise me. UFC brass felt that he beat Sonnen anyway, and it's not like they've never given a guy a title shot off the back of one win before.

In all fairness to the guy, Bisping is definitely for my money the best Middleweight in the UFC not to have had a crack at the title. I don't think he'll even get out of the second round against Silva barring Anderson somehow losing two or more limbs on the walk down to the cage, but Bisping's definitely a much better fighter than many give him credit for.

Ideally, if we could somehow invent a challenger for Silva to fight after he beats Sonnen (I really don't see any other result), I'd like to see Bisping take on Belfort, who would be a genuine test of Bisping's top-level credentials. Sadly, I don't see it happening, and at 37 with some seriously big-money superfights potentially on the cards with Jones and/or St-Pierre (obviously a lot of variables in there), I wonder how much longer Silva will hang around the Middleweight division.

Velasquez's chin isn't particularly suspect considering he took huge shots from Kongo and it took a massive overhand and a dozen daggers from half guard for dos Santos to end him. He's a smoother kickboxer than Mir and, critically, Mir's never been a great positional grappler. He's absolutely terrifying if he can grab a submission but considering virtually all of his losses have come about because he gave up position and let guys punch him in the face I'm not really fancying his chances against someone like Velasquez.

That doesn't mean he can't win but I think it'll take 1) Mir's best performance to date 2) Velasquez having a brain fart for Frank to walk out with the win.

As impressive as Boetsch has been recently, he's beat Nick Ring & Kendall Grove, & was outclassed for 2 rounds by Okami. I suppose you can't really say he gains nothing from beating Boetsch because it's probably going to lead to a title shot, but i don't see it as a fight that Bisping gains anymore credibility for winning or any upwards movement in the mythical rankings.

What people are going to remember about Boetsch going into the Bisping fight is his comeback win against Okami and the UFC hype machine will use that to talk up his toughness and heart. Other than that, I doubt they even remember Ring and Grove's names as the guys Boetsch fought before Okami. I watch every UFC event and I couldn't have told you their names before you brought them up. The average UFC doesn't really remember or really even care much beyond the last fight a guy had or anything the UFC hype brings up, if that. They probably couldn't pick Edson Barboza out of a line-up, but once the UFC hype machine starts for his next fight, they'll remember the KO of the Year. That's how the average UFC fan looks at things. They don't go into the kind of detail message board fans do.

I picked Mir over Velasquez for a number of reasons. Mir is probably not quite a top-level fighter, but he's dangerous enough that he can beat any guy who isn't top-level or smart enough to work the perfect gameplan. I don't think Mir gets the credit for how good he is because he got destroyed by Lesnar, a poor style match-up for him, and he couldn't finish off Nelson, who himself is a fighter who doesn't get the credit his abilities deserve. Mir can take some serious shots and still be a threat as well, which adds to what he brings to the table. With Velasquez, and this might just be a hunch, but I'm not convinced he's overcome what I call the Hamed Effect, the effect that first loss does to your psyche. Some guys go undefeated, sometimes for a long time, and when they take the first big loss is just breaks them. They just can't handle defeat and they're never the same. I'm not saying Velasquez has it as bad as Naseem did, but I'm not sure he's sufficiently overcome it, especially when it comes to facing a guy like Mir who will put him under a lot of pressure. I think Mir is going to shock a lot of people and finish Velasquez in the second or third round and I'll go one further and pick Mir to beat Dos Santos/Overeem for the Heavyweight title.
