anyone who has ever even wrestled a friend should know how hard it is, you don't have to be a pro. It's incredibly difficult, and Condit was much more fussy than most of GSP's opponents in not allowing himself to be held down. He was constantly working and scrambling and moving GSP.

Honestly really not a big fan of GSP but I was impressed by his recovery and I don't hate him as much as I did, he's a great fighter I just don't enjoy his style too much, but he's the best at it, that's for sure

GSP/Condit was an example of how losing a great fight can raise your value a lot. Condit isn't at the top tier of guys like GSP/Silva/Jones who can headline a PPV and draw good numbers regardless of their opponent, but I think he is now at the second level, where he can headline a FOX show with no problems. As for another crack at the title, I think because he was dominated for the majority of the fight, he'll need two strong wins before getting another crack. And even then, it could take a while because there are a number of guys ahead of him who are likely to get a title shot. Next for Condit I think is going to be Kampmann, because they'd both be coming off losses and you'd get at least one back on track, and also because Kampmann was the last guy before GSP to beat Condit and it was split decision that could have gone either way.

I figure next for GSP is either Diaz then Hendricks or Hendricks then Diaz. I would like to see the Diaz first because that's the more winnable fight, where the Hendricks fight could easily be lost with one punch, and if GSP does get KO'd by Hendricks, I think that would take some of the shine off of GSP/Diaz.

Well, looks like history is being made. UFC 157 will feature the first women's bout in the company's long history. What's more, it even becomes the main event, which might be logical, yet is preceded by the highly anticipated Machida vs Hendo. So apparently, UFC's being serious.

Better than the Edgar fights? Not in my opinion.

Benson won 50-45, not even close. Whereas the Frankie fights were at least debatable.

But still, what a performance from Ben! ?What a great night of fights! For free! I feel sorry for the saps that dropped down $70 on Pacman.

Saturday was one of my best 'fight days' for a long time. I got to work at the insane CAge Warriors 50 show up in Glasgow (potential CW card of the year) which had Bellator's Wilson Reis taking on Rowdy Owen Roddy in a fight of the year candidate. Then I got to chill back at the hotel watching UFC on Fox and the Manny/JMM fight on giant projectors.

The 8 hour drive home in a slowly dying Cage Warriors van wasn't great, mind :-p

I guess they want Rory to avenge that loss to Condit, which scares me a bit. Because I wonder if he does... will Hendricks have to fight him too before finally getting his shot?

It's dollar signs at work, but they'll play it off as "This is the fight the fans wanted!" I don't like to be critical of the company, because that's typical internet cynicism at work. But in this case, I don't see any other logic present. Dana always talks about how job performance gets you to the top of the line in the UFC. Well, Hendricks fights whoever is in front of him and knocks them out, meanwhile Diaz smokes pot and no-shows fan events...

Ohh, and Diaz's last fight saw him get beat by the guy who GSP just manhandled.

Nothing on Hendricks getting totally shafted by the UFC in favor of Nick Diaz? UFC shows it's doing nothing more than chasing dollar signs rather than give the shot to the guy who has earned it.

The UFC making the fight that will make them the most money? No, say it isn't so.

Once the UFC have done their job, it will be the fight the fans want. And even cold, I think GSP and Diaz does more business than GSP and Hendricks, and UFC are in the business of doing what does the most business. That and they can quite legitimately point out that GSP wanted the Diaz fight and asked for it.

And I say all that as someone who also hates this fight being made for all the Diaz-related reasons that have been given. I want to see GSP dominate Diaz, and that realistically is the most likely outcome, but I can't agree with Diaz getting the nod ahead of Hendricks. And as for Diaz potentially no-showing the presser again or otherwise fouling up, well, there's a reason they've loaded the card with other top Welterweights, including Hendricks. If Diaz does screw up again, and I don't see how anyone can be shocked if that happens, then there is a good chance Hendricks will get the title shot he deserves a lot sooner than expected.

That's all well and good, but sports can't be run this way. It undermines the integrity of the sport itself. Otherwise Notre Dame would play for the national championship every week and the Yankees would be in the Series every year regardless of their accomplishments. Simply because it makes the most money.

I don't think that a WWE argument that it's what the fans want or that it's what makes the most money, or it's what GSP wanted holds much water at all. Hendricks had been told numerous times that he would be the #1 contender and he should be. In a fair sport none of that other stuff matters.

So yes, they can do it, but the sport itself suffers in the chase for the almighty dollar. This isn't the first time that this kind of thing happens. The UFC backs away from guys that they don't know what to do with. It's why Fitch (pre-Hendricks) never got another shot at GSP or why Rashad isn't even mentioned anymore despite being one of the top 205ers around. It's part of the reason that Rampage walked, and it clearly shows that the UFC is in total control of it. Sometimes that good, sometimes it's bad. In this situation it's bad.
