<p>All matches have been run. Since I only heard one comment about the presentation style it will be done the same as last week, with the WS2 play-by-play calling the match and occasional announcer tidbits thrown in.</p><p> </p><p>

For those of you yet to predict, you have less than 24 hours to make them. I'll only give you this much: One predictor was perfect this week.</p><p> </p><p>

See you tomorrow night for week four!</p>

Season One, Week Four:

June 25, 2010

As the sun rose on this day, tensions ran high among the twelve as the reality began to sink in. The season was a month old; in two months’ time the playoffs would be here. The time to jockey for position wasn’t next month...it was right now.

And for some, tempers would flare by the end of the night....

THE LEAGUE: WEEK FOUR <object width="28" height="25"><embed src="

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyxBiUbCP8E&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="28" height="25"></object>

The shot turns to the obligatory pyro demonstration as a capacity crowd of 19,000-plus cheers from the confines of General Motors Place. A large contingent of the fans are wearing Canuck jerseys, and also featured are several signs welcoming back one of the more well-known wrestlers, The British Warrior. After panning the crowd for a bit, we go to ringside, and our announcers.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the Great White North!

Frankie Garnett: Man, why do you have to be racist in here?

Bob Sinclair: ...seriously?

Frankie Garnett: Just get on with it.

Bob Sinclair: We’re in Vancouver tonight, and for almost the entire week the buzz has been surrounding the matchup between Robbie Maynard and Maxx Skabb. Frankie, are you looking forward to this as much as the rest of the fans watching are?

Frankie Garnett: Not as much, no. It all pays the same, in the end.

Bob Sinclair: ...I see. Anyhow, seeing as we’re finally out of Japan, it should be noted that here in Canada, the match can be stopped by way of blood loss, if the ref deems it necessary, and the ref is also a bit lax on the rules.

Frankie Garnett: Oh, good, we FINALLY get to leave it in the wrestlers’ hands. Let’s go already!

GAMMA DIVISION MATCH: Shawn Arrows (1-2) vs Sean (1-2)

Bob Sinclair: You heard the man! Let’s send it to Amelia Williams for our first match of the night.

Amelia Williams: Our first match of the evening is a Gamma Division match, set for one fall! Introducing first, from Raleigh, North Carolina, weighing 207 pounds...Shawn Arrows!

Frankie Garnett: Look, Bob, I’m heading out to get a soda before the show really starts. You want anything?

Frankie Garnett: Spoilsport....

Frankie Garnett: Not bad for someone who claims to only know about a dozen moves or so. I wonder why—

Bob Sinclair: Hang on, Frankie, I'm being told that there's a disturbance backstage!

Frankie Garnett: Wait, what? This ain't SWF, there isn't supposed to be this sort of stuff going on!

Backstage: Justice is demanded

The camera shifts to backstage, where a rather determined Shawn Arrows is trying to wade through a security patrol to get into the office of Commissioner Colt Marshall.

Shawn Arrows: Marshall! I know you can hear me! Get these goons out of my way or I will take them out myself!

Security Guard: You can't even take out any of the other members of the League, Arrows. What makes you think you can walk over us?

There is a pause as a look of stone cold anger falls over Arrows' face. In the next moment, the offending goon is taken out by a spinning heel kick, and a second staggers back after catching an elbow to his jaw. The remaining four swarm in, keeping Arrows at bay as the wrestler struggles to break free. In the next moment, the door to the Commissioner's office opens, and the man steps out himself, looking rather annoyed.

Colt Marshall: You better have a good reason for taking out two of my guards, Arrows, or so help me I'll see you hauled away by the Mounties.

Shawn Arrows: That referee was crooked, Marshall! I was still in the match, was about to break free from that hold and he called it off! I demand a rematch!

Colt Marshall: Afraid I can't do that, Arrows. It's against League regulations.

Shawn Arrows: You son of—

Colt Marshall: HOWEVER...I can do something, if it'll make you feel better, though you'll have to wait a week for it. After the show ends next week, we'll have a little "exhibition" match. You, and a partner of your choosing, against Sean and a partner of his choosing in a tag team match. No records, no money, nothing that will affect your standings in the League will be affected. But if you're so desperate for justice, Arrows, you'll find a way to swallow your pride and find a partner...and if one of you doesn't get a partner, then it'll be a handicap match. You have a week to find a partner, Arrows. I suggest you use it wisely. Now get out of here before I do decide to press charges.

Frankie Garnett: An exhibition match? What the heck?

Bob Sinclair: A bonus match next week for our fans in Seattle, Frankie! The question is, who will the two mystery partners end up being?

Bob Sinclair: We’ll find out. Let’s go to the ring!

Amelia Williams: Our main event of the evening is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, weighing 251 pounds...Breaker!

Bob Sinclair: Breaker seems to be a bit calmer than we’re used to, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: Yeah, yeah...let’s go already! I’m getting restless!

It is to the sound of silence that the second wrestler of the match walks to the ring, seemingly not disturbed by the fact that the arena didn't have his choice of theme music available. The fans cheer for a former local hero as he strides to the ring.

Season One, Week Five:

June 26, 2010

http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae344/ShadowedFlames/GDS%20League%20Stuff/BeyondRingsideBanner.jpg

It's that time again! Tori Montgomery here, and after a second incredible match this season and what has to be one of the most surprising matches in The League's brief history, we head into Seattle, Washington. No time like the present to get started!

Comments from Ringside

It's rather obvious that one of the major stories coming out of British Columbia this week is the fact that Maxx Skabb lost his match in less than five minutes. Tori, you were at ringside for the event; did anything just seem completely off to you during that match? --S. Appleby, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

I cannot be certain, but it seemed to me that Skabb looked to be a bit under the weather. I'm not sure whether it was the flu, some sort of food illness, or maybe just overtraining, but something was definitely off. That's the only explanation I can see.

So, any word or speculation on who the two tag partners will be for this week's bonus exhibition match? --S. Leonsol, Omaha, Nebraska

As of yet, no official word has reached my desk. I would not be surprised if we don't find out until the night of the show, if I may be honest. As for speculation...I see Arrows teaming with Johnny Triumph to counter Sean's technical prowess, and Sean teaming with Tarik Nolan for the size factor against Arrows. However, I've been wrong so often before, it would not be anything new.

At the quarter-point of the season, what's the biggest surprise in your view? -L. Euler, Boston

I'd say that the biggest surprise to me is that right now, every division is led by a person who does not have the highest average match rating in their division. It's a bit weird to see that, but then again, stranger things have happened.

STANDINGS AFTER WEEK FOUR

ALPHA DIVISION

1. The British Warrior (3-1)

2. Nuclear Templeton (3-1)

3. Maxx Skabb (2-2)

4. The Phoenix (1-3)

Tie-breaker is the head-to-head match, which Warrior won during week three.

BETA DIVISION

1. Robbie Maynard (4-0)

2. Tarik Nolan (3-1)

3. Breaker (1-3)

4. SGRaaize (1-3)

Tie-breaker is head-to-head: Breaker beat SGRaaize week one.

GAMMA DIVISION

1. Sean (2-2)

2. Johnny Triumph (2-2)

3. Shawn Arrows (1-3)

4. Diamond (1-3)

Both ties are broken via head-to-head—in this case, both matches occurred week one, when Sean and Arrows won their respective matches.

NEWS AND NOTES

CHANGES IN POPULARITY—BRITISH COLUMBIA

1. Johnny Triumph: 15 -> 23.450

2. Diamond: 15 -> 20.050

3. Nuclear Templeton: 15 -> 18.694

4. Tarik Nolan: 15 -> 17.670

5. British Warrior: 18 -> 16.794

6. Sean: 15 -> 16.600

7. SGRaaize: 15 -> 15.582

8. The Phoenix: 15 -> 14.330

9. Breaker: 18 -> 13.906

10. Shawn Arrows: 15 -> 13.900

11. Robbie Maynard: 15 -> 13.878

12. Maxx Skabb: 15 -> 10.822

You may note that I'm listing the popularity by what the popularity coming out of the region is, thus why The British Warrior, despite losing popularity, is above Sean who gained a little last week. It is my belief that it would be easier to see where one compares to another in terms of total popularity, not necessary who won or lost the most (though for season one, that's basically what it boils down to).

As for assorted news and notes, I've managed to get more details on the event that leads up to this week's exhibition tag team match. Apparently, the referee for the match, one Donald Easton, had heard just before he went out to call the match that his wife went into labor. With that weighing on his mind, he made a preemptive call on the submission hold that gave the win to Sean in their match. He issued a letter of apology to the media, as well as announcing his resignation in a separate letter to the Canadian Union of Wrestling Referees. Commissioner Colt Marshall has reiterated that he cannot change the call of the official in the contest, so the result will remain Sean over Arrows via submission. However, Marshall knew that both men would want a shot at taking out their frustration over such a controversial call that he set up this tag match. This creates an interesting dynamic in that both men have to find someone to watch their back, while worrying that the other may have found someone first. It's an intriguing set-up, and we'll see how well it plays out next week.

PREDICTION CENTRAL

Once again, someone managed to get every prediction correct, so a congratulations to Miss moon_lit_tears for guessing all six matches correctly. With a quarter of the season done, here are the current prediction standings:

1. SeanMcG: 17 points

2. moon_lit_tears: 16 points

3. Prophet: 14 points

4. derek_b: 13 points

(tie) 5. I effin rule, Tori Montgomery: 12 points

7. masterded: 9 points

8. MichiganHero: 6 points

9. Zeel1: 4 points

As has been mentioned previously, Seattle, Washington plays host to The League for week five. On American soil, expect a more rambunctious crowd with shorter matches. With that said...

Week Five—Seattle, Washington (North West US)

(Sports Entertainment style match, American-style crowds, Ref bumps are allowed)

SGRaaize (1-3, 15%) vs. Shawn Arrows (1-3, 15%)

This is a toss-up. If Raaize can get started on Arrows early, he could force a lariat and be done with it. Not to mention that Arrows may simply hold a little back in order to smash Sean in the exhibition match after the show ends. Thus, I'm going with Raaize on this.

Tori's Prediction: SGRaaize, via pinfall (Portugal Lariat), 7:50, F

ALPHA DIVISION MATCH: Nuclear Templeton (3-1) vs. Maxx Skabb (2-2)

In their last meeting, during week one, Templeton won in what was the Match of the Night after 20 minutes. Can lightning strike twice (or in Maxx's case, a fourth time)? It's certainly possible, but I think Maxx has something to prove after that 4.5 minute match last week. Picking Skabb via beasting.

Tori's Prediction: Maxx Skabb, via pinfall (Lethal Injection), 15:20, B-

Tarik Nolan (3-1, 15%) vs. Johnny Triumph (2-2, 15%)

This could be a sleeper for match of the night. Tarik's got momentum going for him, while Triumph comes off a highly successful match last week. If Tarik could take out a larger technical wrestler last week, why should this one be any different?

Tori's Prediction: Tarik Nolan, via pinfall (Regulator), 14:00, B

Breaker (1-3, 15%) vs. Diamond (1-3, 15%)

I'm a bit torn on this one. Diamond showed a lot of potential last week, but against a brawler like Breaker, I don't like her chances. Still, I have to show faith for the one woman in the League this year, and so by upset…

Tori's Prediction: Diamond, via pinfall (Standing Moonsault), 11:00, C+

ALPHA DIVISION MATCH: The British Warrior (3-1, 15%) vs. The Phoenix (1-3, 15%)

First match of The League—Warrior defeated Phoenix in under 10 minutes. I see no reason why the result will have changed.

Tori's Prediction: The British Warrior, via submission (Figure Four Leglock). 8:30, E

Robbie Maynard (4-0, 15%) vs. Sean (2-2, 15%)

This will be a steel cage match!

This could be Maynard's toughest task to date. A submission isn't going to do him any good here, unless he makes his opponent pass out from the pain. Sean's managed to hld his own against the likes of Johnny Triumph and Maxx Skabb, but given how quickly Maynard tore through Skabb last week, I'm not sure that is a good thing for Sean. The mark improves to 5-0 this week.

Tori's Prediction: Robbie Maynard, via escape, 13:30, B-

Special Exhibition Tag Team Match: Sean and ??? vs. Shawn Arrows and ???

I'm not expecting anyone to predict this match—in terms of the season-long contest I will not be counting this match, anyway—but I've outlined it above. My pick is Arrows and Triumph vs. Sean and Tarik. If I was to guess, I'd say Nolan via pinfall over Sean.

We are in the Midwest for week six, but until then this is Tori Montgomery...so long from ringside!
