So last week I bought Assassin's Creed 3. I didn't care much for the first game, it was a tad repetitive, but the second game was insanely fun and I didn't think AC3 could come anywhere near that...I was wrong.

It's been a really long time since I've had this much fun playing a game. Sure, it has some irritating glitches(I HATE RIDING HORSES AND INVISIBLE WALLS), but man it's fun.

There's times where the scenery is just...pretty and I love it.

One of the biggest surprises though in the game was how well the Naval combat is. I can honestly say that if they took that and made that into a full game, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I thought it was going to be a glorified mini game, but I've dang near upgraded the Aquila all the way.

The story is also fun, which is pretty standard in the series. I actually had a real moment of surprise though when you realize who and what Haytham is. Desmond and I had the same reaction at the exact same time.

I didn't really "care" about Altair or Ezio all that much as characters, but I am growing really attached to Connor and I don't think I'm going to allow myself to trade this one in when I'm finished with it.

Everyone who has Steam, do me a favour?

Go to Greenlight, search for Driftmoon, and vote the hell out of it.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a light-hearted, funny (if it little cringeworthy and oblique-reference-heavy at times :p) RPG created by two guys (one girl, one girl, actually) plus a character portrait artist, up in Finland. The game is really fun, if not exactly groundbreaking, and it really deserves a chance on steam. Especially because it's less than £10. Plus, the developers are two of the nicest people you could ever mee- er, converse with online.

So yeah, even if you have no interest in it and don't end up buying it, vote for it on Greenlight.

Xbox had a Steam-like action last week where you could purchase top games like Max Payne 3 for just 4€ (400m$-points). Personally that game doesn't interest me at all so I got Bioshock again for 4€, and Fallout 3 for the same dough, even though I played them once already. Sorry to only mention this now. I just saw it last night.

As far as video games go: I'm currently not interested in anything. I guess I'd want to play Tomb Raider eventually, but I'm not exited about it at all. Action like last week will probably indicate that most top level games will be made available for dump prizes eventually, so why spend 40€ on it unless you absolutely can't wait for them. In the coming months, only Resident Evil Revelations might be worth picking up, but I wouldn't spend much on it for that to happen.

Thank god there's things like TEW, or Crusader Kings, to satisfy my needs. :p

There's good stuff coming out in the near future depending on your system. PS3 owners can be satisfied knowing MLB:The Show 13 is amazing as always. My gripe is that it's STILL the same game they've been putting out for years. But it's a great game. Learn from Madden and don't make changes for changes' sake. Just enhance the experience you know your fans love. Also: God of War: Ascension looks incredible.

XBOX Owners get Gears: Judgement coming out soon. That's fantastic news.

I played Tomb Raider and it's good. I'm not a huge fan of the series but I'd imagine if you are it should entertain you well.

Gears judgement is going to be a horrendous game and the first gears game I pass on, and I say that as a person who still plays 3 online on a regular basis.

They are removing literally everything that made the series unique which is why I got into it in the first place.

No DBNO

No stragetic weapon choosing (you can have a boomshield and shotgun at the same time?)

Removing most of the core multiplayer modes

They bassically changed it to be a 3PS call of duty with gears characters. I specifically got into gears because it wasn't like CoD/Rainbow Six which were the other shooters at the time so to see the series going this direction for Judgement really saddens me. I thought there were a lot of improvements from the 2nd to the 3rd game to make it more "casualized" like the addition of medals, ranks, and other stuff but the game still felt like Gears at the heart of it all.

Showtime, your points are valid so I understand your concern. All I will say is that I don't have the luxury of 5 friends to play with on a regular basis. My gaming friends jump from game to game, and quite frankly so do I. So I guess I'm not worried about Gears Judgement being more similar to games where you can run solo.

I see your point though. Gears multiplayer truly is a one of a kind experience and I do hope the features aren't too much of a departure from the formula. I do know this: Epic listens to the community probably more than any developer out there. So if we hate it, they'll make adjustments. And I'm certainly going to play it regardless and give it a chance before I freak out.

I know people were real upset with Halo 4's changes thinking it was going to just be "Halo of Duty" and I feel COD:BO2 and Halo 4 couldn't be more different FPS online experiences myself.

From the moment I started at university I also lost a standard playing group, and playing remote people never really appealed to me. Some are plain children in body and mind, some just lick balls, some are too damn good, and some just quit during games, and I just don't care anymore.

I'm confident Tomb Raider's good. I just don't want to spend much money on it as I'll likely get bored during the first playthrough and especially after one.

BTW: http://store.steampowered.com/app/18300/?snr=1_7_7_204_150_1 : This looks so stolen from Metroid Prime. :p

The funny thing is that I don't even have a team in 3 since most of my friends (and myself) played the beta extensively and then by the time release day came they were tired of the game already.

I'm just upset that the change is moving it away from the exact reasons that I personally (probably not everyone) got into the series. I still have faith that they will return with a more traditional gears game for the next gen consoles though.

Yea so Gears: Judgement is pretty bad, multiplayer anyway. I havent messed with the campaign too much as I'm waiting for my bestie to get it so we can co-op it.

But yea, all your fears are fully realized. The maps (all four of them. Yes. Four.) are way too big for 5 v 5 team-based modes or 10-man free for all. You spend more time running around then you do fighting, which to me, is the antithesis of Gears online gameplay which was focused on tactical but action packed type play. What I found alot of successful teams doing is runnign up a quick score, then sticking together and kinda just moving around alot, avoiding conflict. Whereas in previous Gears online experiences, your better teams attempted to fortify a position. This was far more fun with your assault.fortify dynamicrather then your "Chase these jerks around a giant map" dynamic. Gone are executions from multiplayer. No more "downs". You just shoot people and they die. Wonderful. Why maintain the uniqueness and appeal of your formula?

It really just doesn't play all that well either. It feels rushed and less-than-expected in terms of overall polish and quality. It's not terrible. Int here is a decent multiplayer shooter. But honestly, whenever a sequel is a severe step down from it's predecessor it should generally be avoided. I'd avoid this.

I really enjoy the game as a good multiplayer game but a lot of online players are way too good at the game. Action tends to spill in certain areas in maps... I can't think of an example but that's what I've found playing online. I also agree that the game feels rushed especially when it comes to the campaign mode. I know I said I liked the campaign mode but it felt too short so I bet they rushed it since Epic knew multiplayer is the main selling point.</p>

<p>Since this is a video game thread <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I've decided that as of yesterday, im not buying anymore PS3 games. </p><p> </p><p>

I have outstanding:</p><p>

</p><ul><li>Beyond Two Souls<br /></li><li>The Last Of Us<br /></li><li>X-Com Enemy Within<br /></li><li>Assassins Creed 3 <span style="font-size:8px;">(with 4 coming as a Christmas Present)</span><br /></li><li>The Bureau<br /></li><li>NBA2K13<br /></li><li>NHL14<br /></li><li>WWE2K14<br /></li></ul><p></p><p> </p><p>

Im looking to move to the next gen PS4 soon and with no backwards compatibility, it would be a waste of money to buy more games. Also, the time it takes me to complete them should mean that the PS4 is in stock for the holiday sales</p>

Which is kind of an issue for an FPS. ¬_¬ And 90% of the game completely ignored the fact that YOU'RE ON A CITY FLOATING IN THE SKY. Seriously, it could've been ANYWHERE. They massively dropped the ball on that, IMO. The trailer makes it look so badass, and yet most of the game is set in a relatively boring (if beautifully rendered) normal city.</p>
