Timber
With most games, if not all, if you launch it from a desktop shortcut with Steam closed, it'll launch Steam in the background, and then launch the game. That was always my worry with Steam, not a fan of stuff running in the background while i do stuff. I have a solid system, needs a good graphix card and bigger Hard Drive. I don't think i'll chug with it running in the background, just kinda anoying.
D-Lyrium
Eh, I've never had an issue with Steam. Right now, Steam is using 60k of memory, and 1% of my CPU. Far less than Chrome, which is also pretty much always running in the background.

It has it's quirks and should perhaps not be out of early access already because it sure has issues still, but I also really like it. They're still quite dedicated to the game so in the end things should be okay.

I have a solid system, needs a good graphix card and bigger Hard Drive. I don't think i'll chug with it running in the background, just kinda anoying. If it helps. Steam, origin, and sometimes Diablo III are all running at the same time on my computer and I get no lag from it. Hell I used to get lag from Facebook games, but not from Steam if that helps. Steam uses so little of your cpu you'll never notice it.

Blackman
The winter sales have been "meh" so far. Didn't buy anything. Might buy Endless Legend if it's back for 15€ later on.
D-Lyrium
Just picked up This War Of Mine in the sale. Such a good game. Also picked up Arkham: Origins because it was cheap. Not installed it yet though, too busy with Elite: Dangerous.
Celuwyn
I've seen plenty of Elite videos, what do you think about it ? might buy it.

DaMegaFish
This game is just amazing, though I feel like an ass when I have to kill someone to get food for my people..... I think I made it 29 days in my 2nd play on the game before I harmed anyone. And even then, I only attacked bandits after they started to attack me. Maybe I'm a jerk, but my people only ate once every 2 days.
bestbitter
Anybody tried Chaos Reborn? I used to love Lords of Chaos on my Amiga!
D-Lyrium
I've seen plenty of Elite videos, what do you think about it ? might buy it. Personally I think it's brilliant. If you're looking for an online space shooter, it's probably not the game for you (although you can certainly play as a bounty hunter and just shoot people all day). But if you're a fan of the original Elite and are just looking for an updated version of it, then it's glorious. Flying around the universe, trading and sightseeing, avoiding pirates (and players who just want to be a dick ). I'm having a blast.
Celuwyn
Never played Elite I think. But i played a LOT of freelancer, and that that other game.. freespace or descent ? I only remember the alien race with their big big flagship
D-Lyrium
I've heard others say it's very similar to Freelancer, but never played it myself. Wasn't Descent the mining one? Where you were in some sort of ship but it was set in a mineshaft or something indoors at least. I loved that game.

Never played Descent You should try Freelancer. Nowadays there are great mods for it
D-Lyrium
I probably will at some point, it's my sort of thing. I got Endless Legend in the sale the other day, as it was on my wishlist... It's... ok. It's not by any stretch a bad game, I think it's just because I have so many 4X games that it kinda feels a bit samey in places. A few of the new mechanics take a bit of getting used to. I love all the story elements they've put into it though, and it's definitely a very pretty game. The combat just seems a bit 'meh' right now. Probably because I don't understand it properly yet. It's Age of Wonders-style tactical hex-based battles, but the actual mechanics seem weird. It seems like you can't actually choose which spells/buffs your units will use, they just use whatever they feel like. Which can be irritating. bigtplaystew
+1 on This War of Mine. It's tough for games to be emotionally heavy yet fun to play. This game did this for me. And it doesn't really force you to play any one way. You can try to walk through the game honestly, which keeps your people happier but you eat when fate decides. Or you can lie, cheat, and kill your way into getting what your people need. Yea you're eating but your people don't feel all that great about eating food they picked off of an innocent corpse. Either way is a legit strategy with serious pros and cons. And what I love about the balance is it's near impossible to do strictly one or the other. The game forces you to choose. I feel these choices as a player. It's not a game I'l play for the next ten years or anything but for what it is, it's a hell of an experience. iruleall15
So its really a video game but just got back into a cool browser game mostly text based. Real easy to figure out. https://ruinsofchaos.com/recruit.php?uniqid=vaci Not sure if you can post ref links here but it would bring anyone under me as my officer. Would love some people to play with. Great game thats really easy.
The Swanton825
So there's a new Fire Emblem on the way. I pretty much sat at my monitor watching the trailer going, http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/891/203/41b.gif the whole time. packerman120
So, have any of you heard XBOX's genius new marketing ideas? They think, hmm.... if we don't let YouTubers have game names in their titles, it will generate more publicity! They basically said, oh you wan't to name your video Halo 5 Epic Gameplay? Nope, you ain't doing that. Good old corporational geniusness right here. In other news, I am slowly anticipating the opening of the Evolve beta, as I don't want to play any more GTA for now

steesh07
I recently played through the Last of Us Remastered and have to say that it was one of the best games I've played in years. Usually I just blitz through the single player of games to play on the multi player (usually a BF or COD fan) so it was incredibly refreshing to play something that captured my attention from start to finish (even my finance was watching it intently despite never liking video games). Really hope there is a sequel.
