I like the style you're taking with this diary with the wrestling reporter perspective on events.

UJW UK Title Match: The Landlord v Genocide Agent

Can't have the boss drop the title on his first defense.

Hugh De Aske vs Suicide Agent

Tag specialists tend not to win much against upper card guys in singles matches.

Beast Bantom v "The Welsh Warrior" Ian Davies

Personal Preference.

Christopher Lister v Glen Ward

He seems a bit more talented and popular.

Puffy The Sand Iron Player vs Nigel Svensson

Puffy has the edge in popularity even if Svensson is better in the ring.

UJW Jack of Hearts live report by Dan Davies (Sat Week 4 January 12.15pm)

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495[/center]

A double header for me last night, as MOSC and UJW both had shows at Phoenix Nights on Friday Week 2. UJW ran 8pm – 9pm, MOSC ran 9.30pm- 11.00pm. With time tight, there was no dark matches for UJW, so on to the main show!

Main Show

The Landlord and Randy Garcia start the show in the ring with some words for Genocide Agent.

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/TheLandlord.jpghttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RandyGarcia.jpg

“That my client would agree to put his title on the line, to a man who now owes him two months’ rent, shows the type of moral character he is. If only Genocide Agent had the same generous spirit! Did you know that The Landlord could only afford two weeks in Cuba this summer thanks to you? Normally he takes three weeks, but he has made a sacrifice because of your selfishness!

Verdict? – This promo set the scene well at the start of the show, but didn’t really highlight the significance of the title match. Grade E

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/Puffy.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/NigelSvensson.jpg

Puffy The Sand Iron Player vs Nigel Svensson

Both men look intense; while Svensson is always focused on the match ahead, Puffy is intently staring at the note from last month, cursing under his breath. Svensson wrestles rings around Puffy, focusing on the left arm to set up the Hyper Extension Lock (Standing Kimura). However as he hooks the hold in, ‘Judo’ Glen Ward runs out and trips Svensson while Ref Bailey is checking on Puffy. This gives Puffy the opportunity to hit the Hole in One (Implant DDT) for the win.

Winner - Puffy The Sand Iron Player @ 5.04 (Hole in One, following Glen Ward’s interference)

Verdict? – Not a good match. It was far too short a match to invest interest in. Grade E

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RedDragon_alt.jpg

“The Welsh Warrior” Ian Davies then comes through the curtain and hypes his match against Beast Bantom.

“I’ve fought beasts before boyo, and they have always fell. Power can only take you so far. You need brains and heart. Do you have these Bantom?”

Verdict? - Davies isn’t a good talker and the crowd weren’t really into this. Grade E-

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/ChristopherLister.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/GlenWard.jpg

Christopher Lister vs ‘Judo’ Glen Ward

A slow start to this one as Ward botches an Irish whip; Lister has to cover for him by reversing it. Ward rakes the eyes to regain control and takes charge with a judo headlock takedown and a sloppy front facelock. As Ward spins the dazed Lister around for the Judo Choke Sleeper, Nigel Svensson comes through the curtain and glares a hole through Ward! Ward loses it and shouts abuse at Svensson, allowing Lister to recover and blast Ward with the Dimension Jump (Seated Face Plant). 1-2-3, done.

Winner –Christopher Lister @ 5.14 (Dimension Jump after Nigel Svensson distracted Ward)

Verdict? – Poor. Ward looked like he was elsewhere and the match was far too similar to the opener. Does a face need a distraction to win? Odd booking. Grade E

We see The Landlord and Genocide Agent fight through the curtain, followed by Beast Bantom, Ian Davies, Suicide Agent and Hugh de Aske looking to break it up! Eventually order is restored, with both men hurling abuse at the other.

Verdict? – Filler brawl. Grade E

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/BeastBantom.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RedDragon_alt.jpg

Beast Bantom vs Ian Davies

Both men remain in the ring after the brawl to start this contest. It’s mostly all Bantom – he dominates with clubbing blows, a clothesline and a huge backbreaker. Davies counters a Savage Pounce with a dropkick but a corner splash attempt ends with Bantom chokeslamming him and hitting a Savage Pounce for 3.

Winner – Beast Bantom @ 6.04 (Savage Pounce)

Verdict? – Pretty poor. Crowd got behind Davies though; the reaction for his comeback was great.Grade E

As Ian Davies gets to his feet, a hooded man in black sweatpants rolls into the ring and hits a big STO on Davies. The mystery man then removed his hood and applied a Scottish Deathlock (Elevated Scorpion Deathlock) to Davies…Welcome to UJW Don Henderson!

Verdict? - The crowd didn’t really take this in. I’m always happy to see Don Henderson. Grade E-

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/SuicideAgent.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/HughdeAske.jpg

Suicide Agent vs Hugh De Aske

De Aske spends his entrance shouting abuse at anyone who calls him a pirate (i.e. 90% of the audience). Suicide Agent starts like a house on fire, with two huge clotheslines and a big hip toss, but de Aske manages to stop a third clothesline with a drop toe hold.

From there, de Aske is in control. A nice back elbow gets two, de Aske felt it should have been 3. Top rope clothesline also gets two, which sees de Aske lose his cool. An audience member shouts that Ref Bailey should walk the plank, causing de Aske to leave the ring to get in his face. Suicide Agent recovers and drags de Aske back in, catches a low kick and ducks the inevitable enziguri. Never give your back up to a huge guy whose finishing move is a Full Nelson Slam. Easy 3 count.

Winner – Suicide Agent @ 7.16 (Full Nelson Slam)

Verdict? - A good effort. De Aske carried Suicide Agent here; the big guy nailed the finish though. Crowd were hot too. Grade D-

As Suicide Agent celebrates with the fans, Beast Bantom runs out and hits a Savage Charge in the aisle. A choke slam on the concrete follows.

Verdict? - Decent segment – the choke slam in particular looked nasty. Grade D-

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/TheLandlord.jpgw/http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RandyGarcia.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/GenocideAgent.jpg

UJW UK Title Match Landlord (w/Randy Garcia) vs Genocide Agent

Genocide Agent wastes no time here; he charges the ring, pushes Garcia off the apron and opens fire on The Landlord. In fact, for the first five minutes it’s all Genocide Agent.

However, Garcia recovers and trips Genocide Agent, distracting Ref Bailey and allowing Landlord to hit a low blow to Genocide Agent. Landlord follows up with a knee lift then a legdrop from the ropes that gets a near fall.

The Landlord gets cocky at this point; a smirk at the booing crowd and he’s ready to set up the Eviction (Piledriver). Genocide Agent counters with a back drop; upon seeing the winded Landlord, Garcia races into the ring to buy The Landlord some time. Chaos ensues as Ref Bailey tries to eject Garcia from the ring peacefully - Genocide Agent instead ejects him from the ring with a big uppercut. Unfortunately for Genocide Agent, this gives The Landlord a chance to grab Garcia’s briefcase and smack Genocide Agent upside the head with it. The crowd boo, but that’s the finish. 1-2-3.

Winner and still UJW UK Champion – The Landlord @ 9.03 (Briefcase shot)

Verdict? – An ok brawl. Again, the crowd was hot and the wrestling was ok too. Maybe a bit short? Grade D-

Overall Verdict – A up and down show. The last 20 mins were promising, but I can’t overlook a lacklustre first 40 mins. Overall Grade E+

#3 15.25PM Sunday Week 4 February 2010

Hello, and welcome to the third Battle of Britain report! Battle on!

British Independent Show – Monday Week 1 February 2010 Crescent Crown Pub (Ireland)

Shudder…the usual series of bad random matches between the usual suspects. When the best match is Keith Adams and Pigeon Mask beating The Minor Annoyance and Ripper LeStat (I gave it E+) you know you’re in wrestling hell. Special mention to Jeff Amazon’s victory over The Scotsman (F) - absolute shocker of a match. Att 55 Overall Grade E-

HIW Flaming Youth – scheduled for Wednesday Week 1 February 2010.

Again, no show! Surely they should have done their homework and planned who they were going to hire before opening the company? Grade N/A (OOC – why haven’t they hired enough people to host a show?)

ROF Uprising – Sunday Week 1 February 2010 Norman Blue Athletic Center (Midlands)

Another strong showing from ROF, with Merle O’Curle again excelling (C+, ROF Championship defence against British Samurai) and a good Dan Henderson v Walter Morgan match (Henderson won, C). Att 119 Grade C

UJW Jack of Hearts – Friday Week 2 February 2010 Phoenix Nights (North)

Some positives (Landlord v Genocide Agent and de Aske vs Suicide Agent were fun, both D-), but plenty of negatives (the first two thirds of the show). I do believe there is potential here, but more focus on the mid card is needed. Att 42 Overall Grade E+

MOSC Full Force – Friday Week 2 February 2010 Phoenix Nights (North)

Harley Neil was once again the star of the show – his title defence against Danny Patterson (C-) was easily the highlight of this show. Nothing else of note happened. Att 172 Overall Grade D+

21CW World War 3 - Saturday Week 3 February 2010 Middlesborough Hall (North)

A step down from last month’s show though still entertaining. Highlight was Steve Stoat’s victory over Adam Matravers (B-). The World War 3 Battle Royal was good (C-, won by Stoat) as was Joss Thompson’s victory over Leo Price ©. Att 2,000 PPV 0.04 Overall Grade C-

Best show – ROF Uprising Sunday Week 1 February 2010 = C

Best Match – Stevie Stoat vs Adam Matravers (21CW) = B-

I know I had predicted ROF to beat 21CW last month, but I wasn’t expecting them to do it so quickly – are 21CW entering a slump? Worryingly, their show wasn’t much better than MOSC’s Full Force…

Until next month,

Dan Davies

March with us into March as we look for scores to be settled!

Having seen his partner get cheated last month, Suicide Agent wants a piece of The Landlord. But has he recovered from Beast Bantom's attack?

After last months heinous assault Davies demanded this match. Henderson agreed - what is his motivation for engaging with the experienced "Welsh Warrior"?

'Judo' Glen Ward vs Nigel Svensson

This has been brewing since January - Ward has been hassling Svensson since First Impressions. Both men requested the match. Can Ward put the 'Swedish Shooter' to sleep or will Svensson break 'Judo's arm?

UJW UK Title Match The Landlord w/Randy Garcia vs Suicide Agent

I prefer Dragon but Don is really valuable for a company this size and needs a debut win

'Judo' Glen Ward vs Nigel Svensson

Nigel is just a much better worker.

Christopher Lister vs Hugh de Aske

I was surprised Lister got a win last time

UJW UK Title Match: The Landlord w/Randy Garcia vs Suicide Agent

I don't see the owner of the company dropping the title so soon.

"The Welsh Warrior" Ian Davies vs Don Henderson

Davies let me down last week, so I'll say that Henderson cheats to win again.

'Judo' Glen Ward vs Nigel Svensson

It's a hard to take Ward seriously when his nickname is "The Angry Man." Plus Svensson is more talented and stuff.

Christopher Lister vs Hugh de Aske

With your champion being a heel it would make some sense to give Lister a win to establish him as a contender.

Dark Match Participants: Keith Adams, Pigeon Mask, the Minor Annoyance, and Ripper LeStat.

These guys have to be hot commodities after their breakout match on the British Independent show. :p

UJW UK Title Match The Landlord w/Randy Garcia vs Suicide Agent

Different agent, same result

"The Welsh Warrior" Ian Davies vs Don Henderson

Henderson is best worker in promotion. Is he watching the landlord's back?

'Judo' Glen Ward vs Nigel Svensson

Svensson is a reliable worker and good for locker room, build him up to be regular jobber for the landlord I say

Christopher Lister vs Hugh de Aske

Dark Match - Keith Adams & Arthur Turtle to beat the DuPont twins

Keith Adams is a credible top face and potential feuder. The lawman trying to arrest the dodgy landlord?

UJW March into Madness live report by Dan Davies (Sat Week 3 January 06.45pm)

Another double header, followed by a drive to Newcastle tomorrow for 21CW! So if this report is a little, inaccurate shall we say, blame tiredness and not bad journalism!

Dark Matches

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/BaliDaljit.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/Trance_alt1.jpg

Bali Dajit vs Trance

Trance dances out to the ring, oblivious to the apathy of the crowd. Dajit starts strong with chops, but Trance pulls the hair, leaving Dajit open to a leg lariat. A Trance Effect (Tornado DDT) later and Trance is your winner.

Winner– Trance @5.09 (Trance Effect)

Verdict? - Poor squash. Grade E-

Genocide Agent and Martin Heath vs Puffy The Sand Iron Player and Mr Evilness

Evilness and Puffy beat down Heath for like 5 or 6 minutes with Heath teasing a hot tag. The hot tag is finally made when the heels miss a double clothesline, allowing Heath to dropkick Puffy and tag Genocide Agent. Genocide batters both men, with Evilness taking a terrible bump to the floor from a clothesline. For the finish, Heath cross bodies Puffy and Genocide (just about) powerslams Evilness.

Winner – Genocide Agent and Martin Heath @8.17 (Genocide Agent pinned Mr Evilness with the hanging powerslam)

Verdict? – Bad match. Evilness in particular was awful, blowing spots all over the match and sandbagging Genocide on the finish. Grade E-

Main Show

The Landlord swaggers out with the UJW UK Title and calls out Suicide Agent! Suicide Agent races out to brawl and is actually gaining the upper hand when Randy Garcia and Beast Bantom run out to aid The Landlord. Suicide Agent floors Garcia, but a Bantom choke slam leaves him flat on his back.

Once Garcia recovers, he explains that Bantom has joined Landlord Inc as a debt collector. The three men congratulate each other and take it in turns to kick the dazed Suicide Agent.

Verdict? – The story is progressing, but this was a sloppy segment that could have been shorter Grade E

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/NigelSvensson.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/GlenWard.jpg

Nigel Svensson vs 'Judo' Glen Ward

Both men start slowly, with some chain wrestling before going for the submissions. There seems to be no flow, with the holds in no particular order. The end sees Ward tap out to the Hyper Extension armlock.

Winner - Nigel Svensson @7.14 (Hyper Extension Armlock)

Verdict? – These two have no chemistry at all – it was a flat exchange of holds. E-

Puffy comes strolling out, still holding that note from First Impressions. After some banter with the crowd, Puffy decides to enlighten us.

“This piece of paper is the expense list for the European Golf Tour…and…and I can’t afford it!!! It’s my destiny to win that Tour!!! I need to be on it!!! I was so close last year…60 out of 65. Another 30 places and I would have made the wildcard qualifier!!!Wildcard qualifier!!"

“Anyway I have a plan…Christopher Lister! You need the money for your nerd meetings! How about we bet some money? $2,000? Double or nothing next month at Spring Straightener!”

Christopher Lister wanders out…

“Nerd meetings? ComicStars 2010 is a once in a life time event! There’s going to be a Starlauncher this year, you know from Space Police…."

“Do we have a deal, Lister?”

“You’re on Puffy…I wanna see that Star Launcher…”

Verdict? – Grade E- both both segments. It’s nice this is going somewhere, but neither man was strong on the mic.

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/ChristopherLister.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/HughdeAske.jpg

Christopher Lister vs Hugh de Aske

Lister goes straight for de Aske, rocking him with forearms and scoring a near fall with a sunset flip. De Aske wakes up though and grounds Lister with an armbar. Lister fights to his feet and clotheslines Hugh down. Diving elbow gets 2, de Aske bails to the floor to clear his head.

Lister follows, looking to press home his advantage. What he doesn’t see is Puffy stalking him with a golf club! De Aske kicks Lister low and looks to whip him into the barricade, only for Lister to reverse and send de Aske into Puffy! While Ref Bailey screams at Puffy to leave, Lister rolls a stunned de Aske back into the ring and hits the Dimension Jump for 3!

Winner - Christopher Lister @8.11 (Dimension Jump following botched interference by Puffy )

Verdict? – Decent wrestling here, shame the crowd wasn’t in to it D-

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RedDragon_alt.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/DonHenderson.jpg

“The Welsh Warrior” Ian Davies vs Don Henderson

Davies is like a house on fire here – flying forearms, dropkicks and a hurricanrana leave Henderson dizzy early doors. The usual missed corner splash spot allows Henderson to take over, working Davies’ back with forearms, headbutts and a nice front backbreaker. Henderson then gets 2 from a charging knee to the small of the back.

Davies begins a comeback by countering a bow and arrow lock into a pinning predicament for 2, then hitting a nice flying back elbow for another 2 count. As Davies heads to the top rope, Henderson cuts him off with a low blow that Ref Bailey misses. Henderson slams the weakened Davies off the top and applies a Scottish Deathlock for the submission win.

Winner - Don Henderson @9.55 (Scottish Deathlock)

Verdict? – A good effort. The action was fine and to give Davies credit, the crowd are into his comebacks. Grade D-

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/TheLandlord.jpgw/http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RandyGarcia.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/SuicideAgent.jpg

UJW UK Title Match The Landlord© w/ Randy Garcia vs Suicide Agent

All fists to begin with! Landlord eventually uses a knee lift and takes control, but Suicide Agent surprises him with a roll up for 2! Landlord stomps a hole in Suicide and looks for a legdrop, but Suicide evades and hits an elbow drop! 1,2 Kick out! Suicide hits a spinebuster, then a splash off the ropes! 2 count!

Garcia tries to distract Suicide, but Suicide ignores him and applies the full nelson in preparation for his finishing full nelson slam! Beast Bantom runs out to ringside, looking to save The Landlord’s title. Garcia sneaks into the ring, distracting Bailey long enough for Bantom to slide into the ring and choke slam Suicide Agent for the second time tonight. Eviction by a winded Landlord and that’s 3.

Winner - Landlord @10.24 (Eviction after Beast Bantom interfered)

Verdict? – Good action, crowd were invested in the match too. The Landlord looked tired though and he dragged the match down in the final third. Grade D-

Bantom and Landlord lay into Suicide Agent with rights and kicks, Garcia directing traffic. This brings out Genocide Agent! Genocide ducks a Landlord clothesline and clotheslines Bantom, knocking him through the ropes. Landlord tries a kick, Genocide catches his foot and nails him with a right hook!

Suddenly, the lights go down. When they come back up, Genocide Agent is slumped in the corner covered in what looks like blood!

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RipperLeStat.jpg

Ripper Le Stat is in the aisle!! He laughs and points at a confused Genocide Agent as Landlord, Bantom and Garcia regroup around him.

Verdict? E for the save, E- for both Le Stat segments. Again, it will be interesting to see where they go, but so far these segments aren’t convincing.

Overall Verdict? – Grade E+ for me. Three decent matches but a lot of dross. It’s the angles that needs some work, they are dragging the show down.

Predictions

Boltinho - 3/4 (Total - 10)

Tiberious 4 - 4/4 (Total - 6)

Midnightnick - 2/4 (Total - 7)

Portlius - 3/4 (Total- 5)

So Boltinho wins - name your hire! Bear in mind they need to be under 35 and can't have less than D- for stamina or resilience.(Blame The Landlord, they're his owner goals!)

In regards to the dark match...I was always going to use members of the roster for the 2v2. I couldn't hire any of the picks apart from Le Stat, who I felt deserved better than a dark match debut. (Adams and Pigeon Mask are over 35, Turtle wouldn't join us and Minor Annoyance is well, rubbish.)

Next show should be up by end of the week - expect some build up and story in the meantime.

#4 13.27PM Sunday Week 4 March 2010

It’s time once again for British wrestling to battle! Can ROF beat 21CW again or will 21CW reclaim top spot?

British Independent Show – Monday Week 1 March 2010 Phoenix Nights (North)

A little better than last month, but still pretty painful. Highlight was the odd team of Pigeon Mask and Ripper Le Stat defeating Keith Adams and Derrick Merrick (E+). Decent crowd for an indy show too, more than UJW drew here last month (on the same night as MOSC too!) Att 55 Overall Grade E-

HIW Tough Love – Scheduled for Wednesday Week 3 March 2010

Nope, didn’t happen again. I’m starting to think Geordie Jimmy Morris was lying to me….Grade N/A

UJW March into Madness – Friday Week 3 March 2010 Phoenix Nights (North)

Same old for UJW – acceptable segments (de Aske v Lister, Suicide Agent v Landlord both D-), but lots of poor segments (Ward v Svensson, the angles). I have faith in them to progress, but the growing pains are apparent. Att51 Grade E+

MOSC Anguished Screams – Friday Week 3 March 2010 Phoenix Nights (North)

Speaking of same old, same old, MOSC’s Anguished Screams was their usual show. Basically, Harley Neil has a good main event match (against Danny Patterson again, C- again) and the rest of the show is poor. Only Bruiser’s win over Thug (D) was otherwise decent. Att 168 Grade D+

21CW Head to Head – Saturday Week 3 March 2010 Tyne House (North)

A step up from last month, with three C+ matches (Cornell beating Faust, Brown over Jones and Thompson defending the title v Price). A cynic (ok, a wrestling journalist who had to watch two shows on Friday then drive to Newcastle on Saturday) might point out that the first half of the show was forgettable. Att 3,157 PPV0.05 Grade C

ROF Sweet Pain – Wednesday Week 4 March 2010 Norman Blue Athletic Center (Midlands)

A very good effort from ROF, aided by a cracking Merle O’Curle v Don Henderson title match (O’Curle retained, B-)ROF looked to push some young talent too, with Petey Barnes pushing UK Dragon all the way and looking good in defeat © and Walter Morgan putting Johnny Highspot over (C-) Att 130 Grade C+

Best show – ROF Sweet Pain = C+

Best Match – Merle O’Curle v Don Henderson (21CW) = B-

ROF make it two in a row! Can 21CW rebound? Will UJW improve? Can Harley Neill keep carrying MOSC? Will HIW ever hold a show? Will Pigeon Mask find a new partner? Stay tuned!

Until next month,

Dan Davies.

I would have demanded you hire the Minor Annoyance to continue his show stealing tag team with Ripper LeStat if I had won, so perhaps it's for the best that Boltinho took this one.

I had a horrible feeling that the winner would pick The Minor Annoyance...glad to see Boltinho's picks were pretty sensible!

Having said that, a Pigeon Mask/Minor Annoyance tag team would be immense

Are the British Independent Show bookers on crack? Last month, Pigeon Mask teamed with Keith Adams to face Ripper LeStat, now this month he's with LeStat and against Adams. :D

Probably - to be fair they'll need something to get them through the never ending cycle of Minor Annoyance and Scotsman matches :)

Now there is a team for the ages. If you ever bring in the tag titles you need to have the Minor Annoyance and Scotsman defeat Jeff Amazon and Pigeon Mask in the finals. You can have Pigeon Mask turn on Amazon at the end to form a stable with the winners. I call it the Annoying Scottish Flock.
