Union Jack Wrestling - Rule Britannia?

Recommended Posts

Now there is a team for the ages. If you ever bring in the tag titles you need to have the Minor Annoyance and Scotsman defeat Jeff Amazon and Pigeon Mask in the finals. You can have Pigeon Mask turn on Amazon at the end to form a stable with the winners. I call it the Annoying Scottish Flock.

Thanks, that's the next three shows booked! :D

Your welcome.

If you need to stretch the feud out longer than you can bring in Ken Flanagan to be the mouthpiece of the stable. You can then have the stable beat down Jeff Amazon until Ryan Death and Thunderbolt make the save. This all will somehow culminate in a 60 minute Iron Man match between the Minor Annoyance and Jeff Amazon for the UK Title.

I'm saving the UK title for Pigeon Mask - I'm seeing a ECW style Taz 'Path of Rage'.....

Too much faffing about last month….time to settle it with a good old fashioned straightener!

UJW UJ Title Match The Landlord vs Suicide Agent Steel Cage Match

There’s been too much interference in The Landlord’s title defences – what better what to put a stop to that than a 12ft steel cage?

Ripper Le Stat vs Genocide Agent Hardcore Match

After last month’s ‘blood bath’, Genocide Agent wants revenge. Ripper took the match…on the proviso that there would be no rules. Will this backfire on the newcomer or will it play to his advantage?

“The Welsh Warrior” Ian Davies vs Don Henderson

A re-match from last month, Davies will be looking to avenge a decidedly tainted loss. Can Davies prevail? Or will Henderson, who has yet to explain his motivation for attacking Davies, take another victory?

Christopher Lister vs Puffy The Sand Iron Player

With $4,000,00 on the line, who will be most motivated here? Will Lister get to go to ComicStars 2010? Will Puffy spend the summer trying to chip golf balls out of the bunker?

Nigel Svensson vs Hugh de Aske

Svensson is looking for his biggest career win to date – while narky pirate in denial de Aske is on a two match losing streak it won’t be easy for ‘The Swedish Shooter’.

Dark Match – Martin Heath vs Trance

Both recorded wins last month. In fact, Trance is 2-0 in UJW. Can Heath end the ‘streak’ or will Trance go 3-0?

UJW UJ Title Match The Landlord vs Suicide Agent Steel Cage Match

I still don't see The Landlord dropping the title just yet.

Ripper Le Stat vs Genocide Agent Hardcore Match

No DQ seems like it favors the heel.

“The Welsh Warrior” Ian Davies vs Don Henderson

Why not.

Christopher Lister vs Puffy The Sand Iron Player

Puffy seems like he's be the one more upset if he lost the bet, so I'll predict that happens.

Nigel Svensson vs Hugh de Aske

Svensson has the talent to main event and the pirates been losing to everyone anyway.

Dark Match – Martin Heath vs Trance

Why stop the streak now?

Fire Still Burns –British Samurai speaks regarding the direction of British Wrestling, ROF and HIW.

Story and transcript by Dan Davis (04.45PM Tuesday Week 1 April 2010)

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/BritishSamurai.jpghttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/ROF.jpg

On the back of two excellent shows (rated as February and March’s Show of the Month in my Battle of Britain column) I spoke with British Samurai about ROF and his thoughts on British wrestling.

Dan Davies- “Hello British Samurai!-“

British Samurai – (laughs) "Call me Rob, Dan”

DD – “Thanks Rob! Wasn’t sure what to call you-“

BS – “No one ever does. British Samurai is my ring name though and I’m not in the ring now”

DD – “Fair enough. Thanks for agreeing to this interview.”

BS – ‘”No problem”

DD – “Let’s get to the questions. ROF are doing very well right now. Two excellent shows on the bounce lead us to April’s War Wounds, which takes place on Tuesday Week 4. What should we expect?"

BS – “The best wrestling in the UK today. We’re looking to put on great matches and highlight new talent".

DD – I’ve noticed that. I thought Petey Barnes looked fantastic against UK Dragon; I hadn’t seen him as a top contender until I saw that match."

BS – “That was the intention; while Dragon is the present, Petey is very much the future. Matches like that give the loser some shine too."

DD – That philosophy is critically effective, I’m not the only one who has argued that, in terms of quality, ROF is currently ahead of 21CW.”

BS – “Thanks, that means a lot. I don’t want to criticize 21CW, I see a lot of good in their shows. However, I don’t see a great deal of planning for the future."

DD – “I get what you’re saying – the main events are very good, but where will they be in a year’s time? I can see Joss Thompson working in the US full time eventually. Daniel Francis, DJ Reason and Johnny Stones have all joined HIW.”

BS – “Exactly – who are they going to elevate? I like their midcard; Phil Cooper is a hard worker and (Luke) Cool has come on leaps and bounds. I just don’t see where the next star is coming from."

DD – “Sure, sure. I wanted to ask you about HIW. I spoke to Geordie Jimmy Morris in January; he was critical of ROF and seemed to have an issue with you-“

BS – “I read that story”

DD – “What were your thoughts on it?”

BS – “I was disappointed. I understand that Jimmy has some lingering issues with me from the sale of ROF but to criticize ROF itself…I sensed some bitterness there.”

DD – “Because of his experience in Japan?”

BS – “Yes. I felt for him, I really did. It’s difficult for Japanese wrestlers to make it in Japan after paying their dues, never mind an Englishman looking to debut there in his mid thirties.”

DD – “Agreed. Can you elaborate on the personal reasons for the falling out?”

BS – “Just philosophical differences over booking a wrestling company. I wanted to build ROF gradually while he wanted to attack 21CW head on”

DD – “A foolish move given their resources”

BS –“Yes. Now he’s convinced that dentist (Tyler Baker, ex 21CW owner) to invest in a company to take on 21CW. It’ll end in tears…Baker…for want of a better term, is a mark for the business. He's a nice guy from all accounts but lacks the business sense to run a wrestling promotion...I think Jimmy has got him believing the hype.”

DD – “No show yet…not a good sign!”

BS – “Yeah…it’s difficult to run a wrestling show, never mind taking on the biggest company in the country.”

DD – “100% agreed. Before I let you go, any thoughts on UJW, the other new kid on the block?”

BS – “I saw a tape of Jack of Hearts…not my cup of tea, but at least they’re trying, all the best to them.”

DD – “Fair comment…thanks for your insight Rob.”

BS – “A pleasure.”

Men of Squeal? – Rumours of a falling out between MOSC owner Highland Warrior and MOSC booker Harley Neil persist.

Story and transcript by Dan Davies (Saturday Week 2 April 18.25PM)

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/HighlandWarrior.jpghttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/HarleyNeill.jpg

News has come from MOSC that Highland Warrior and Harley Neil have had a huge falling out and aren’t on speaking terms.

An anonymous source stated “Harley is fed up with Warrior. Warrior gave him the book and told him to try and save the company, yet he is still acting like he is the booker. Harley is also irritated with Jeffery (McPeterson, Highland Warrior’s son) – Harley sees an arrogant kid who thinks he can coast by."

The MOSC dressing room has also heard arguments about money. My source continued “The additional funds given to MOSC have been a source of friction between Warrior and Harley. Many in the locker room believe that Harley provided them, to keep the company afloat. Neither Warrior or Harley have confirmed this, but the funding of MOSC is a sore point between them.”

Davis’s comment – MOSC needs unity during these difficult times. What does a falling out between the owner and the booker say to the rest of the roster? While I understand Neil’s frustration over the heavy involvement of the McPetersons, he needs to accept that this isn’t likely to change anytime soon.

In regards to the money, I had hoped that we had heard the last of the matter. If Neil has contributed the additional funds, fair play to him for helping preserve a wrestling institution. It will need more than money to keep MOSC relevant however, to that end everyone needs to work together.

Fatal Impact – Crisis stricken HIW battling to survive.

Story by Dan Davies (Friday Week 3 April 15:30PM)

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/HIW-1.jpg

It would seem that High Impact Wrestling is on the verge of liquidation.

HIW, opened in January 2010, has yet to hold an event. Rumours have persisted of disagreements between booker Geordie Jimmy Morris and owner Tyler Baker over financial and booking principles.

Initially ranked as a Small promotion by Total Extreme Wrestling.Com, recent inactivity has seen HIW drop to Local – a level normally awarded to backyard and community promotions.

The inaugural roster for HIW, which includes popular UK wrestling names such as UK Dragon, Rolling Johnny Stones and DJ Reason, are likely to be released from their contracts in the forthcoming weeks.

Neither Tyler Baker or Geordie Jimmy Morris were available for comment.

UJW Spring Straightener live report by Dan Davies (Sat Week 3 January 19.45pm)

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/SpringStraightener.jpg

I’m in Phoenix Nights for UJW’s biggest show to date – The Spring Straightener! 106 fans in attendance tonight for this 90 min event! Can UJW up their game?

Dark Matches

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/BeastBantom.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/BaliDaljit.jpg

Beast Bantom vs Bali Dajit

A bonus match! I use that term lightly here…. Dajit tries to use his speed early doors, but gets caught in a Beast Bear Hug. Dajit fights it, but there is no way back. Rather than let Ref Bailey count Dajit out, Beast releases his grip then smashes Dajit with a vicious Savage Pounce followed by the pin.

Winner - Beast Bantom@2.50 (Savage Pounce)

Verdict? – Smoother than their match at First Impressions, but still nothing to write home about. E

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/MartinHeath.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/Trance_alt1.jpg

Martin Heath vs Trance

Both men look to out speed each other here, with Heath getting the upper hand with a rough looking cross body for 2. Both men then takes turns (almost at random) on offense until Trance rolls Heath up with a hand full of tights for the win.

Winner – Trance 6.19 (Roll up with handful of tights)

Verdict? – Not a good match. These two both need a competent opponent who can guide them through a match – no flow here at all. A bad combination. E-

Main Show

Landlord Properties Inc come out with their newest hire, Ripper Le Stat. Randy Garcia grabs the mic and starts to explain…

"Did you enjoy the blood bath last month Genocide Agent? That Ripper Le Stat can harm you without being in the ring with you should be a worry…as tonight you face him in a hardcore match!. You plebs in the audience may be wondering what Ripper is doing with us?"

"It's simple...sometimes, we can’t get hold of people during the day to collect their overdue rent…so Ripper...pays them a ‘little visit’ at night. Strangely, people often seem to find their rent money quite quickly once Ripper drops in…"

Verdict? - It’s good that they are following up on the angles from last month, I’m a fan of continuity. Garcia isn’t ripping up any trees on the mic though E+

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RedDragon_alt.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/DonHenderson.jpg

Ian Davies vs Don Henderson

Davies is up for this match from the start; his usual fan-friendly entrance is replaced by attacking Henderson from the bell; this leads to a hot sequence which ends with Davies executing an inverted atomic drop to Henderson, followed by a dropkick.

Henderson attempts to re-group on the outside, but Davies takes the fight to him with a baseball slide, then hurls him back into the ring. Neckbreaker gets 2. Davies climbs the ropes looking for the moonsault. Henderson tries to low blow Davies on the top turnbuckle as he did last month, but Davies kicks out at the Scot and manages a top rope clothesline for another 2 count.

Davies hits a Russian legsweep and again heads up for the moonsault. Henderson again cuts him off, this time with a chop, and climbs up to Davies. A series of body blows gives Davies the opportunity for a sunset flip bomb. However Henderson is wise to this and he grabs the ropes. While Ref Bailey tries to get Davies to release his grip, Henderson quickly rakes the eyes of Davies. This allows Henderson to hit the STO and then apply the Scottish Deathlock for the win.

Winner – Don Henderson@9.50 (Scottish Deathlock after cheating)

Verdict? - Probably the best match I’ve seen in UJW. Crowd was into the action and the in ring execution was good. I’d like to see a rematch with more time given to it. D-

Bethany Hurst comes out to the stage with Nigel Svensson and criticizes The Landlord.

“In my day job as a childminder, I deal with spolit children all day; those who will do anything to get their own way. The Landlord is a good example of this, cheating to keep the gold. Nigel Svensson on the other hand is one of the good kids. He’s dedicated and will stick at a goal until he achieves it. His goal right now? To be UJW UK Champion."

So Landlord, watch your step. Nigel wants some more matches first before he can challenge you. Then, once he believes he’s worthy of challenging for the title, he’s coming for you.”

Verdict? – A surprisingly good promo. Simple but effective. D-

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/NigelSvensson.jpg/whttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/BethanyHurst_alt2.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/HughdeAske.jpg

Nigel Svensson vs Hugh de Aske

de Aske, once he gets the usual taunts from the crowd out of the way, adapts quickly and plants Svensson with a DDT. Early near fall leads to de Aske trying to keep Svensson down so he can attack the arm and neutralise Svensson’s submissions.

However a desperation belly to belly suplex gives Nigel some space and he fights back with a barrage of European uppercuts, before getting 2 with a beautiful butterfly suplex. de Aske is rattled by this attack, but manages to escape the kimura attempt by making the ropes. Low kick from the Belgian allows him to go to the third floor and attempt a flying axehandle. Svensson sees it coming, catches the arm and twists it into the Hyper Extension Armlock! Will de Aske tap? He struggles before dropping to his knees and tapping the canvas!

Winner –Nigel Svensson@7.46 (Hyper Extension Armlock)

Verdict? - A solid contest, both men did well. Crowd weren’t too invested in this, but I can see why – Svensson isn't well known and de Aske has lost a couple of big matches. D-

Nigel Svensson celebrates his win with Bethany, who joins him in the ring! Wait, de Aske is unhappy – dropkick to the back of Svensson’s head!

All of a sudden, loud bass and drums kick in and Eric Future swaggers out! He’s come to Svensson’s rescue! De aske attempts the Cut Throat Driver, but his arm is too weakened from the Hyper Extension Armbar. Future slips out the back, sweeps de Aske’s legs then unloads with big right hands! De aske manages to bail, rolling out of the ring and scurrying up the aisle.

Verdict? – F+ for the attack and the rescue. Crowd had too much to take in here.

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/ChristopherLister.jpgvhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/Puffy.jpg/whttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/MarkMoore.jpg

Christopher Lister vs Puffy The Sand Iron Player

The battle for the summer vacation money is go! Lister leaves Puffy for dead in the first two minutes, getting a two count from a double knee smash in the corner. A Mark Moore distraction gives Puffy his first offensive move of the match though, a weak clothesline in the corner. With Puffy on offense, the match eventually slows to a halt as the dreaded ‘rest hold’ spot comes out, in this case a camel clutch.

Thankfully Lister powers out the hold and takes control again with a swinging DDT. Second rope kneedrop gets two and panics Mark Moore into getting on the apron to distract Ref Bailey. Lister goes after Moore, giving Puffy chance to recover. Recover and take…a golf ball from his pocket? As Lister rolls back in, Puffy throws a left hook with the golf ball! Lister catches him arm, small package! 1 -2 – 3 Puffy is furious!!!

Winner –Christopher Lister@7.31 (Small Package)

Verdict? – Weak bout, bit of a mismatch. Lister needs opponents similar to himself to shine in my opinion (i.e. cruiserweights) while Puffy needs a ring general to lead him through the match. Mark Moore impressed at ringside though. E+

Suicide Agent comes out to the stage to hype his main event match.

“I’m not a man of many words Landlord, but you have pushed me too far!!! Attacking my best friend, questioning his integrity…we both know that rental payment went through in the end!"

"I care about him and his family greatly; hell our tag team is named after him! So tonight I get some revenge for him…by taking your UK Title!!!"

Verdict? – Never had Suicide Agent down as much of a talker before, but that was fairly good D-

Once Suicide Agent has slapped some fans’ hands and gone into the back, we get Don Henderson out for a promo.

“Let’s keep this short. Davies – you got attacked because I hate phoneys. You had every chance in the world, a 21CW title reign and…you quit. It all got too much so you went back to the valleys to cry."

"I fought just to get noticed and you quit because you weren’t centre of attention anymore? You’re a disgrace.”

Verdict? – Not the best interview, but the logic at least makes sense. The bitter heel vs the crowd favourite rebuilding his career. E+

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/GenocideAgent.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RipperLeStat.jpg

Genocide Agent vs Ripper Le Stat Hardcore Match

Both men set the tone by hurling punches at each other from the bell. Eventually Genocide wins the slugfest and he hurls Ripper over the top to the floor. Genocide then follows to the outside, but gets nailed with a big throat thrust. Le Stat then slams him into the ring steps and covers for 2. A further ring step slam also gets 2.

It’s all Le Stat now – a super stiff chairshot and an awful suplex on the concrete leave Genocide a quivering heap on the floor. Stupidly, Le Stat tries a splash from the apron and hits concrete. Genocide Agent, who is bleeding from the earlier chair shot, chops the vampire debt collector against the ring post then smashes him with a chair! 1 – 2 – kick out on 2 and 3 quarters! DDT on the concrete! 1 – 2 – 3! No! 2 and 4 fifths! Crowd thought that was it.

Genocide decides to go for the finish – his hanging powerslam, this time through the announce table! He gets Ripper up but leaves his neck unguarded for the Bloodlust hold (a neck claw) Genocide withers, and Rippers forces him to the concrete floor. Ref Bailey checks Genocide Agent…yes he quit!

Winner - Ripper Le Stat@12.13(Bloodlust)

Verdict? – Plus = these two have great chemistry. Con = neither can wrestle to save their life. The crowd were really into this, maybe fans of sloppy brawling are an important demographic for UJW to chase? E+

The Landlord and Randy Garcia come out just before the main event to get some heat.

“Very loyal, Suicide Agent, very loyal. If only loyalty meant something in this life. All that matters is power and money. Landlord Properties Inc. has it all – millions in the bank, a vast range of 1 – 4 bedroom flats and the UJW UK Title. Face paint and these idiot fans will only take you so far.Ultimately, it is power and money that makes and maintains success."

Verdict? – Typical Garcia promo E

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/TheLandlord.jpg/whttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/RandyGarcia.jpgVhttp://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t495/Occasional_Z/SuicideAgent.jpg

UJW UK Title Landlord vs Suicide Agent

This is a classic cage match, so a pinfall or submission is needed to win. Landlord jumps Suicide Agent during the introductions and slams Suicide Agent into the steel immediately, busting the face painted brawler open. A botched Irish whip spot sees Suicide trip over mid ring, however he recovers and decks The Landlord with a clothesline, followed by a shoulder tackle for 2. Landlord is up quickly but gets taken down by a sloppy dropkick, which pops the crowd!

With 100 fans in attendance on their feet (I’m making shorthand notes, the gent next to me is looking for his phone and the four students behind me are counting their change to see if they can get one last round in) Suicide Agent batters The Landlord with rights before hitting a big knee smash. Landlord doesn’t go down, instead he flops against the ropes. Irish whip, back body drop attempt, Landlord reverses with a kick to the face! Landlord with a charging big boot, Suicide Agent ducks – Full Nelson Slam! 1 – 2 –no, out just before 3!

Body slam and a leg drop by the challenger gets another long 2 count and brings Garcia into play, who grabs Suicide Agent through the cage. Suicide shrugs Garcia off, but can’t block a Landlord school boy roll up from behind. It’s a weak roll up, but Landlord gets his feet on the ropes at 2 and that keeps Suicide Agent down for 3.

Winner and still UJW UK Champion The Landlord@13.20 (Roll up with feet on ropes)

Verdict? – A decent brawl. The Landlord’s timing was well off in this one and he looked tired towards the end, which hurt the big finish. D-

Overall grade – A good effort, but again let down by a few poor angles (Future/de Aske) and a poor semi main event. I get more confident every time that they will hit that D- soon though! E+

I demand you find some cash to give to my favourite promotion in the cverse from editorland. HIW rule and Brilliant White is never going to have the stellar career he deserves without them..

It's not money that's the problem - they've made a fortune from pocketing the sponsorship money. The problem is their popularity is going down because they won't hire enough people to fill their roster and put shows on.

Does anyone know why they are doing this and how to fix it? Be a shame to see HIW go under after less than a year!

Oh and Brilliant White is having a stellar career. Teaming/feuding with Chuck Frisby on the British indie show is good, right? :)

Predictions results

Tiberious4 - 6/6

Midnightnick - 4/6

Masterofnone - 5/6

Boltinho - 3/6

Jingo - 4/6

So congrats to Tiberious4! Just let me know what you want to call the May show.

This is my first TEW dynasty so I'm 'learning on the job' so to speak. Main thing I've learned this week is that life sometimes gets in the way of writing and booking shows. I had said Spring Straightener would be up last weekend and then had a crazy weekend (baby not sleeping, footy team losing in semi final etc) meaning I was unable to play TEW10.

So going forward I'm making no predicitions as to when I'll be able to post, with the only rule being that there should be a show every week.

As usual, constructive criticism/abuse welcome :)

Are their enough people available for HIW to hire? I ask because I've messed around with making all the promotions start as active and I noticed that Britain seems to have more promotions than it really has talent. The Hiring rules for HIW are that they must be unemployed and max size light heavyweight which limits options when you have the default fed and now your fed already employing most of the talent that's worth anything.

If this is the problem than I suppose you could fix it either by modifying their hiring rules or by making more wrestlers able to work in England.

So congrats to Tiberious4! Just let me know what you want to call the May show.

When I first read your post I thought you wanted me to pick a worker to hire, so I was looking through the posts and was going to demand that you hire Inky the Squid Boy, but then I realized I'm just naming the PPV.

So I suppose I'll name it the "Inky the Squid Boy Invitational." Okay fine I won't make you call it that. How about UJW: The Future is Now

I've taken the hiring restrictions off before I started the game because I had a feeling there wouldn't be enough workers. Making more workers available to wrestle in the UK is a good idea, will look into that.

Cheers for the show name too. When I saw you had won the predictions, I was scared you'd pick UJW Revenge of The Minor Annoyance or something....

Will that alter the game world drastically? Like The Landlord only working in Canada?

Nah - it just means every worker is available in every region. You still have to pay travel for those who want it but it does make things a bit different. Only thing is you cant turn it back off (for that save).

I think its probably more realistic. If someone will pay travel you show me a struggling wrestler who wont travel. Maybe Keith Adams as hes a copper but it didnt stop Jason leonard or Dorian West

#5 14.45PM Sunday Week 4 April 2010

Can ROF make it a hatrick? Battle time!

British Independent Show – Monday Week 1 April 2010 Crescent Crown Pub (Ireland)

Again, better than usual – is the independent scene in Britain improving? Best match was Keith Adams and Pigeon Mask’s victory over Menace and Ryan Death (E+). Lots of decent performances overall, though Vic Walker’s win over The Minor Annoyance was awful (F). Att 52 Grade E

MOSC Wrestling Summit – Tuesday Week 1 April 2010 Phoenix Nights (North)

A lesser show than usual; Harley Neil’s title defence against Thug was weaker than his previous efforts (D+) and herein lies the problem. If Neil doesn’t excel then MOSC doesn’t excel either. Elsewhere, Danny Patterson and Jeremy Allen had an ok brawl (D), McPeterson and Geordie Jimmy had a poor match that must worry Highland Warrior (no contest, E+). Two of your more experienced workers having such a weak match doesn’t bode well for future cards… Att 135 Grade D+

HIW The Unforgiven – Scheduled for Tuesday Week 3 April 2010

No show again…It appears the rumours of problems may be true. Grade N/A

UJW Spring Straightener – Friday Week 3 April 2010 Phoenix Nights (North)

A bigger and longer production saw UJW draw their biggest crowd of 106. The show was largely the same quality though – there is just a ceiling there that they can’t break. Ok matches (best being Don Henderson’s win over Ian Davies, D-) mixed with weak angles, as usual (spot this month’s theme!). Att 106 Grade E+

21CW: Wicked – Saturday Week 3 April 2010 Hall Green Cricket Club (Midlands)

A two match card. Joss Thompson’s great year continued with an excellent title defence against Pitbull Brown (B-, Thompson retained) while Jonathan Faust and Stevie Stoat beat Leo Price and Edward Cornell (C+). Credit is also due to Kevin Jones and Buff Martinez (C, Jones won) on an otherwise forgettable card. Att 2,000 Sell Out PPV0.05 Grade C

ROF War Wounds – Tuesday Week 4 April 2010 Norman Blue Athletic Center (Midlands)

A third month at the top, courtesy of a fine Merle O’Curle victory over British Samurai (B-), another unselfish Walter Morgan performance (putting Don Henderson over, C+) and Johnny Highspot pushing UK Dragon to the limit (Dragon eventually won, C-) Att 213 Grade C+

Best show – ROF War Wounds = C+

Best Match – Joss Thompson vs Pitbull Brown (21CW)/Merle O’Curle vs Britiish Samurai = B-

(I know a tie is a cop out, but I really couldn’t choose between the two!)

So ROF is clearly the No1 UK promotion in terms of quality, a third of the way into the year. Can 21CW overtake them as we head into the summer?

Until next month,

Dan Davies.

Going to give this a try, see if it helps HIW. Should see some interesting results either way.

Jack Attack –Colin Thorpe confirms UJW summer plans; wrestling festival and tag title tournament.

Story and transcript by Dan Davis (14;40PM Monday Week 1 May 2010)

Having watched the first four UJW shows, I thought it would be a good idea to speak with UJW booker Colin Thorpe again in regards to their future plans…

DD – “Hello Colin, how’s things?”

CT – “Not bad, not bad at all”

DD – “Thanks for agreeing to a quick interview, it’s 12.05pm; don’t want to eat into your lunch!”

CT – “Terrible pun…Anyway lunch is over, It’s UJW time from 12.05pm onwards!"

DD – Wow, that’s discipline! How is the UJW job going? “

CT – “It’s fine. I’m juggling home, work and UJW quite nicely. If anything, UJW breaks up the day a bit (laughs)”

DD – “Good to hear you’re coping!” Onto the questions-“

CT – “-Spoken like a true journalist!”

DD – (laughs) Guilty! I’ve been to the first four UJW shows. I can see a lot of promise in the company. Obviously its early days in terms of the companies lifespan and your booking plans, but can you shed any light on your plans going forward?”

CT – “Well there are two plans for UJW, concerning both titles-“

DD – “Two titles? I know I like a beer or two during your shows, but I haven’t missed anything right? There is only the UJW UK belt right now?”

CT – “Well, that’s plan number one – introduce a tag team title.”

DD – “Ok...using wrestlers already on the roster or will you be hiring?”

CT – “Both. My goal is to have a tag tournament leading into August’s shows.”

DD – “Shows?”

CT – “Yes, I spoke to Landlord regarding running a wrestling ‘festival’… if you will.”

DD – “Like with music festivals, camping and three stages sort of deal?”

CT – “Well, no camping, unless people want to set up tents in the ring overnight! No, I’m thinking two shows over the weekend, give fans a reason for a summer weekend away."

DD – “Well, it’s different…might give me an excuse to bring the wife up for a ‘working weekend.”

CT – “That’s the aim – give people something worth spending a weekend away.”

DD – “Ok, well cool…what was your second plan?"

CT – I want to have a series for the UK title at the August shows…Title defence and number 1 contenders match on the first night. Second night sees the No1 contender get a shot at whoever won the title match. The two losers from night one can fight it out on the second night, like a wooden spoon match.””

DD – “Sounds interesting. What are The Landlord’s thoughts on this?”

CT – “He’s been supportive….well, he’s stopped threatening to pulverize me, which is a start! Landlord’s happy – we’re making money and he gets to be champ.”

DD – “Can’t hurt the ego, right?”

CT – “No, not at all. I think he’s done a decent job as champ too."

DD – “Fair enough. I’m going to let you get back to booking UJW, as it’s 12.15pm now. Thanks for your time.”

CT – “No problem”
