GOLDEN AGE WRESTLING COMES TO RHODE ISLAND

NIGHT#3

http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/5173/gawbanner.jpg

HELD AT THE PAWTUCKET ARMORY DRILL HALL, RHODE ISLAND

IN FRONT OF A 450 STRONG SELL-OUT CROWD

MARCH 18TH 2012

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img542/3419/thomasbeaumont.jpg

JACK AMERICA vs THOMAS BEAUMONT

*A pretty technical match from these two*

*Beaumont looked pretty competitive out there, and actually matched America hold for hold for a time...*

*...but Jack America eventually took control and locked in the Patriot Stretch
(STO)
for the submission victory**

JACK AMERICA wins via submission (6:37)

Reviewers Thoughts:
A really good match between the two younger competitors. I feel this may be Jack America showing the Legends just
why
he hired Thomas Beaumont

GRADE: C-

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg

JACK AMERICA WELCOMES THE CROWD

After the match Jack America grabbed a mic and welcomed tonights crowd to the show. He put over tonight's double main event, Leroy Winters & Marshal Law vs Ali Ababwa & GAW World Heavyweight Champion Kay Pasa, followed by The Devastators vs 'Dr Texas' Terry Rapada and a mystery partner. He also put over that this would most probably be legend Terry Rapada's last ever tag match on US soil, so expect a barnstormer!

Reviewers Thoughts:
Jack America did a good job there, put the whole double main event over really well... better than Gordon Watts usually does

GRADE: C

THE WOODCUTTERS

(Lumber Jack & Yukon Jacques)

vs

STEAMBOAT HUDSON & KENNY FOREMAN

*Something of a strange teaming in Hudson & Foreman*

*The good guys started off strong with Hudson throwing his weight around, even with the none-too-small themselves Woodcutters*

*However once Kenny Foreman tagged in it all changed*

*Finally Foreman caught a break and managed to hit a standing dropkick on Yukon Jacques and both men crawled to their corners...*

*...but Lumber Jack distracted the ref so he only saw The Woodcutters tag!*

*While the ref concentrated on getting the 'illegal' man Hudson out of the ring The Woodcutters took advatage and hit the Bandsaw
(Irish whip/Running Clothesline combo)
on Foreman...*

*...before Lumber Jack covered him for the win*

THE WOODCUTTERS win via pinfall (6:44)

Reviewers Thoughts:
Not a great match given the weird tag combination of Hudson & Foreman didn't really gel at all.

EVISCERATOR RUINS AN ANNOUNCEMENT

Daryl & Garcés head to the ring, Spike Daryl grabs a mic and gets as far as declaring that he and Garcés have joined forces before Eviscerator's music hit. The man monster rushed to the ring and destroyed both Daryl & Garcés, before grabbing the mic and declaring that for the final show of the tour next week he challeages any team, from anywhere, to a Handicap match, before grabbing a rising Spike Daryl and delivering a massive E-Bomb
(Sitout Powerbomb)
and leaving the ring.

Reviewers Thoughts:
Not an awesome segment, but it set up the first confirmed match for the final show of the tour

GRADE: D-

BILLY RAY
(w/Lee Earl)
vs DWAINE KAI
(w/Tony Chi)

*A slow, hard hitting match from the two heavyweights*

*In fact, Billy Ray had a couple of close calls before finally getting the advantage with a sneaky low-blow when the ref wasn't looking*

*Even after this point Kai managed to mount a small comeback...*

*...but Lee Earl grabbed his foot when he ran the ropes, distracting Dwaine Kai long enough for Billy Ray to hit him with the Moonshine Effect
(Brainbuster)
to pick up the win*

BILLY RAY wins via pinfall (7:13)

Reviewers Thoughts:
Well the storytelling in this match was top notch, shame the quality of the wrestling (at least on the veteran's side) didn't match up really. It was pretty obvious that this match went at the veteran's pace, not the youngster's.

GRADE: D-

http://imageshack.us/a/img545/6498/earlraytravis.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img689/955/alligatorstu.jpg

COUSIN TRAVIS
(w/Billy Ray & Lee Earl)
vs ALLIGATOR STU
(w/Dwaine Kai & Tony Chi)

*Unfortunately for Travis, Alligator Stu came off far better in this match*

*Stu spent the first half of the match embarrasing Travis and playing up to the crowd...*

*...until a well timed eye poke saw Cousin Travis take the advantage*

*Travis used his speed advantage to take control and looked to be going up top to finish Stu off...*

*...but the veteran had been playing posum on the mat!*

*Stu sprang up, grabbed Travis and delivered a Superplex from the top rope!*

*Both men managed to make it to their feet at a double six count...*

*...but Alligator Stu quickly hit the Gator Bomb
(Falcons Arrow)
on Cousin Travis for the second week in a row and covered him for the pin*

ALLIGATOR STU wins via pinfall (7:36)

Reviewers Thoughts:
Not a bad match there really. Earl Ray Travis continues to impress, and Alligator Stu showed he's still got enough going on to work a rookie to a relatively decent match.

GRADE: D

http://imageshack.us/a/img689/955/alligatorstu.jpghttp://img818.imageshack.us/img818/8329/mrhawaii.jpghttp://img827.imageshack.us/img827/8234/tonychi.jpghttp://img802.imageshack.us/img802/9973/billyray.jpghttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/6173/leeearl.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img545/6498/earlraytravis.jpg

TWO TRIBES GO TO WAR

As Alligator Stu celebrated Billy Ray & Lee Earl slid into the ring and attacked him, which prompted Dwaine Kai & Tony Chi to rush into the ring as well. Soon all six men were brawling in the ring. Finally Stu, Kai & Chi managed to dump The Moonshiners & Cousin Travis out of the ring. Stu grabbed a mic and challenged them to a Six Man Tag Match at the final show of the tour next week! Billy Ray grabbed a mic and accepted the challenge, declaring that him and his kin will run the 'foreign scum' not only out of GAW, but 'back to their own countries'

Reviewers Thoughts:
Nothing like a bit of casual racism to get a crowd hot! The six man brawl was pretty good actually, Alligator Stu & Dwaine Kai grabbing Travis by 'a leg and a wing' and launching him over the top rope on to The Moonshiners on the outside was genius! Six man tag action confirmed for the Tour Finale too. Guess no-one told Billy Ray that Hawaii is part of America!

CRASH & BURN

vs

THE BROOKLYN BULLY & THE STRONGMAN
(w/The Ringmaster)

*Another week, another classic 80s/90s style tag match*

*The match followed much the same path as Crash & Burn's match last week...*

*...with the larger team of Strongman & Bully dominating early before the tag experience of Crash & Burn saw them take the advantage*

*Despite interferance from The Ringmaster the end finally came when Crash & Burn hit the Crash n Burn
(Second rope legdrop/Backbreaker combo)
on The Strongman for the win*

CRASH & BURN win via pinfall (6:20)

Reviewers Thoughts:
A pretty good classic match there, actually a bit better than Crash & Burn's match with established team The Woodcutters last week. But then, The Brooklyn Bully
is
good at his job and, as always, The Ringmaster was an assett at ringside

'All Man' RUDY SINGLE vs DIRK ROBERTSON

*A pretty good star-vs-jobber match here*

*The young heel threw every cheating trick he could at Single...*

*...but all to no avail. Single put Robertson away with the Flying Axe Handle Smash in short order for the win*

RUDY SINGLE wins via pinfall (5:42)

Reviewers Thoughts:
A very good match there given that this is only Robertson's second show for GAW

GRADE: D+

http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/9866/rudysingle.jpg

SINGLE PROMOS

Rudy Single grabbed the mic and cut a promo about how much he loves the GAW fans and hopes that they will tell their family and friends to come on down to GAW's Tour Finalle next week, because it is going to be amazing!

Reviewers Thoughts:
A brilliant promo from Single there, should bring a few more fans to the final show of the tour.

THE ARCTIC ALLIANCE ©

(Nytro & Tundra)

vs

THE FLYING BULLETS

(B. Brian Browne & Blair Brunzell)

*An even match between these two very different teams*

*A large amount of back and forth, before The flying Bullets took the advantage*

*That is until B. Brian Browne missed hitting his patented Top Rope Crossbody on Tundra due to Nytro shaking the ropes*

*Tundra quickly tagged in Nytro who hit the Ice Flow
(Spear)
on a rising Browne to scure the win*

THE ARCTIC ALLIANCE win via pinfall to retain the GAW AMERICAN TAG TEAM TITLES (7:08)

Reviewers Thoughts:
Another solid defense for The Arctic Alliance. Nice to not see Brunzell take the fall for his team, in fact, he looked really strong out there

GRADE: D

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/3332/nytro.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img204/551/tundraalt.jpg

THE ARCTIC ALLIANCE ISSUE A CHALLENGE

Following the match Nytro grabbed a mic and declared that The Arctic Alliance are not only the greatest tag team in Golden Age Wrestling, but the whole of professional wrestling. So, at next week's Tour Finalle, The Alliance challenge any other tag team champions, from any promotion, to challenge them for the GAW American Tag Team Titles!

Reviewers Thoughts:
A very good promo from Nytro there, and another match booked for next week's show.

SAM LONG INTRODUCES JACK BODYDROP'S OPPONENT

Jack Bodydrop's music hit and the former WWWE Champion made his way to the ring. He grabbed the mic and said he was sick of being kept in the dark, he wanted to know who his opponent was and he want to know NOW! Sam Long climbed into the ring and duly announced Bodydrop's opponent, former five time CWT United States Tag Team Champion and Street Survivor, Rick E. Waters!

Reviewers Thoughts:
Another hard guy for Bodydrop to face.

JACK BODYDROP vs RICK E. WATERS

*This was a pretty good match*

*The pair seemed pretty evenly matched throughout*

*But around the six minute match things decended rapidly when Bodydrop completely sandbagged a suplex*

*Waters looked pissed, slapped Bodydrop and went for it again...*

*...this time Bodydrop punched Waters in the kidney and wrestled him to the ground*

*Waters fought his way back to his feet and as Bodydrop got to his own feet Waters bounced off the ropes and hit the Hardest Knock of All
(Running Discus Punch)
, before covering Bodydrop for the pin*

RICK E. WATERS wins via pinfall (7:14)

Reviewers Thoughts:
Looks like Jack Bodydrop wanted to get his own way again. But Waters showed why he was hired, he may have won via pinfall, but Bodydrop was out cold!

LEROY WINTERS & MARSHAL LAW

vs

'The Big Cahoona' KAY PASA & 'The Iron Sheik' ALI ABABWA

*Kay Pasa & Marshal Law tied up first and Pasa took the early advantage*

*A quick tag to Ababwa, however, proved a mistake as Law caught him with a thrust to the throat and tagged in Winters*

*From that point on the heels cut the ring in half, double teaming the Sheik every time Kay Pasa tried to get involved*

*Finally Pasa had had enough and charged into the ring*

*All four men brawled around the ring and, with the ref unable to regain control, he called the match a draw while security rushed the ring to seperate the four men*

LEROY WINTERS & MARSHAL LAW and KAY PASA & ALI ABABWA draw via the ref losing control of the match (7:50)

Reviewers Thoughts:
These four men just don't seem to be able to get their issues settled!

THE FINAL STRAW

As two teams were seperated Leroy Winters grabbed a mic and challenged Kay Pasa to a match at the Tour Finalle for the GAW World Heavyweight Title, then Law challenged Ali Ababwa to a match too. Both Pasa & Ababwa accepted the challenges.

SAM LONG ANNOUNCES EXTENDED ENTRANCES AND PRESENTS RAPADA'S PARTNER

Sam Long first introduced The Devastators, then introduced their opponents The Lone Star Stallions, Terry Rapada & CWT star 'Smoking' Stevie Gunn!

Nice choice there for Rapada's partner, The Lone Star Stallions were one of the most over teams of the late 90s/early 2000s

THE DEVASTATORS

(Jugernaut & Monstrosity)

vs

THE LONE STAR STALLIONS

(Terry Rapada & Smokin Stevie Gunn)

*An even match here, with all four men getting in some good offense*

*Both teams had periods where they were in charge of the match...*

*...but when Juggernaut missed a clothesline and Gunn caught him on the chin with a Big Boot it could only go one way*

*Gunn tagged Rapada in who hit a Diving Elbow on Juggernaut to seal the win*

THE LONE STAR STALLIONS win via pinfall (9:17)

Reviewers Thoughts:
WOW! So awesome to not only see these two teams face off for the one and only time, but also just to see Smokin Stevie Gunn compete in the GAW ring alongside his old friend one last time was amazing!

POST MATCH CELEBRATIONS

The Devastators went to shake the hands of The Lone Star Stallions. Rapada & Gunn looked at each other, smiled, both kicked the man in front of them in the guy and both delivered DDTs to The Devastators. They laughed and posed for the crowd, then Gunn went to shake Rapada's hand. Rapada delivered another DDT, laughed and walked to the back. Stevie Gunn got to his feet, grabbed a mic and called out to Rapada before he walked through the curtain to the back. Gunn told Rapada that if that's the way he wants it then that's how it'll be! Gunn then challenged Rapada to face him in his final match on US soil in the Main Event of GAW's Tour Finalle next week. Rapada accepted. The crowd went wild! Rapada went to the back while Gunn posed for the crowd some more to close the show!

Reviewers Thoughts:
Man! That is going to be an amazing main event!

GRADE: C

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Wrestling wise, this show was pretty damn good. We had a fair amount of matches announced for next week's Tour Finalle and Waters & Gunn were good additions to tonight's show for sure! But there were way too many angles on tonight's show, and unfortunately some of them were better than some of the matches, hence...

GAW FALLOUT - DR TEXAS GETS REVENGE AND MORE

MARCH 20TH 2012

So, the third show from Golden Age Wrestling in Rhode Island down, one left to go before GAW take a month's break! Here is some backstage gossip from it:

DR TEXAS GETS REVENGE

http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/1456/drtexas.jpg

Following last weeks backstage video game tournament Terry Rapada obviously could not live with the result. So this week he got the boys together a second time, along with his pal Smokin Stevie Gunn, and they went at it again. This time the final came down to Rapada and Gunn... and Dr Texas won the day! Steamboat Hudson was apparently not amused.

THE ARTIST COUSIN TRAVIS

http://imageshack.us/a/img545/6498/earlraytravis.jpg

Our sources tell us that talent trade Earl Ray Travis made quite a few friends in the lockeroom on the last GAW show when he began drawing caricatures of his fellow wrestlers before the show. Rudy Single was particularly happy with his, mainly because it had Single holding the GAW World Heavyweight Title with 'The TRUE champ' written underneath! Nothing like sucking up when you know your contract ends soon!

TALENT TRADES

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3440/kaypasa.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img87/9095/steviegunn.jpghttp://img255.imageshack.us/img255/3479/yukonjacques.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img12/6236/rickewaters.jpg

Well we all know that Smokin' Stevie Gunn and Rick E. Waters were traded from CWT this week, but who were they traded for?

We can now confirm that GAW World Heavyweight Champion Kay Pasa was traded for Smokin' Stevie Gunn for one appearance and has already fulfilled the contract by appearing at last night's TV taping of CWT Championship Wrestling, in the MAIN EVENT match of the night no less, against The Ghost Rider

(highlight gap for TV show spoiler: *
The Ghost Rider def Kay Pasa via pinfall (14:56)
* ).

Woodcutter Yukon Jacques has once again been traded for one appearance, this time to CWT for Rick E. Waters. We've heard on the grape vine that both Yukon Jacques & Lumber Jack are going to be key players in the talent trade system as they either give a face a monster to go over on their own, or of course they are still one of the most memorable tag teams of all time if they get traded together.

JACK BODYDROP UPDATE

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5532/jackbodydrop.jpg

Once again Jack Bodydrop tried to mess with the wrong guy this month. Rick E. Waters did indeed knock Bodydrop out cold in the middle of the ring... something that got him cheered when he got back to the lockeroom after them match. Bodydrop later tried to apologise to Waters, but Waters apparently told him the people who deserve an apology were all the guys he trash-talked in the back, before slapping Bodydrop around the face and getting in his car. There are as yet no confirmations as to what happened next but we do know that Water's got in trouble with his car rental company for damage and Bodydrop was found out the back of the Pawtucket Armory Drill Hall unconscious in a dumpster!

There is no word currently as to who will be facing Bodydrop on the final show of the tour, but I'm guessing it'll be someone who can handle themselves!

And that's all the GAW news we have for you for now, but rest assured we'll have the card up for next week's show just as soon as it's posted on goldenagewrestling.com. Till next time,

CHAMPIONS VS CHAMPIONS

THE ARCTIC ALLIANCE ©

(Nytro & Tundra)

vs

???? & ????

At last week's show The Arctic Alliance declared that they are not only the best team in GAW, but the world! Therefore they have challenged any Tag Team Champions, from any promotion, to a title match. The challengers' titles will not be on the line, but if they win they will become the new GAW American Tag Team Champions!

MATCH for the GAW ALL-AMERICAN TITLE

http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/2843/blairbrunzell.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7625/thestrongman.jpg

BLAIR BRUNZELL © vs THE STRONGMAN

At this week's Tour Finale Blair Brunzell will be defending his All-American Title against The Strongman. The Ringmaster has campaigned hard with GAW Management to secure his brother the shot following a recent run of defeats. Management have agreed, but have told the circus duo that if The Strongman doesn't win the title, he won't be back for the Hawaii summer tour!

EVISCERATOR'S CHALLENGE

http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/1651/eviscerator.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img16/4185/blankbackground.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img16/4185/blankbackground.jpg

EVISCERATOR vs ???? & ????

At last week's show Eviscerator first destroyed the new tag team of Daryl & Garcés, then challenged any tag team in the world to come and face him! A team have been found that want to try their luck, but have asked that their identities be kept a secret to give them an edge, all we know is that both men have wrestling in their blood and hope to use their inherited talents to overcome the monstrous Eviscerator!

ALL OUT WAR

THE KIN

(Billy Ray, Lee Earl & Cousin Travis)

vs

THE PAN-PACIFIC WARRIORS

(Alligator Stu, Dwaine Kai & Tony Chi)

At this week's Tour Finale these six men will finally, legitimately, square off in the ring in a Six Man Tag Elimination Match. GAW Management are determined that this will be the end of tension between the two groups, so the team that loses, none of those men will be invited back for the Hawaii summer tour!

CHEATERS NEVER PROSPER

MARSHAL LAW vs
'The Iron Sheik'
ALI ABABWA

This month seems to have been one long grudge match for Ababwa, and hopefully he will end the month having expelled his demons. But he
has
taken steps to even the playing field in his match against Marshal Law: Ababwa has convinced GAW Management to add a stipulation to the match... If Marshal Law cheats at any point he is gone from Golden Age Wrestling for good!

MATCH for the GAW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3440/kaypasa.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img31/5026/leroywinters.jpg

'The Big Cahoona'
KAY PASA © vs LEROY WINTERS

In the other half of this month's long grudge match Kay Pasa will defend his GAW World Heavyweight Title against AWF star Leroy Winters. Winters is hungry for gold and to show that there is nothing great about being a 'Legend' in this business unless you can back it up. Kay Pasa intends to prove that he can. This should be a pretty hot match!

THE MAIN EVENT - TERRY RAPADA'S FINAL MATCH ON US SOIL

http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/1456/drtexas.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img87/9095/steviegunn.jpg

'Dr Texas'
TERRY RAPADA vs SMOKIN' STEVIE GUNN

After their tag team win over The Devastators last week Terry Rapada turned on his long time friend Smokin' Stevie Gunn, DDTing him in the middle of the ring. At this week's Tour Finale the two Legends will face off in what will be Terry Rapada's last match on US soil before his retirement! Win or lose, you can bet both men will be going all out on this one!

*PLUS THE REST OF THE GAW LEGENDS WILL ALSO BE IN ACTION!*

I'll be at the THE PAWTUCKET ARMORY DRILL HALL on THUSRDAY 25TH MARCH when GOLDEN AGE WRESTLING LEAVES RHODE ISLAND, will you?

THE ARCTIC ALLIANCE vs Donny Chic & KC Summers (extra points for correct guesses(talent trades))

Who ever the challengers will be they won´t be winning.

THE STRONGMAN vs BLAIR BRUNZELL

That Stipulation about Strongman not getting into next tour if he loses makes this a harder one for me, but I think it´s just too early to take the title off from Brunzell.

EVISCERATOR vs Scott Bingington & Freshman Patel (extra points for correct guesses(talent trades))

I think that it´s going to be jobber team that will be squashed.

THE KIN vs THE PAN-PACIFIC WARRIORS

Tough one but Stu has looked like the top guy from these three and I have gotten an impression (not sure if I´m right or not :p) that you aren´t particularly high on Woodcutters.

MARSHAL LAW vs ALI ABABWA

I see Law as slighly better guy and I expect Pasa to retain so it would make more sense to keep Law strong.

LEROY WINTERS vs KAY PASA

There already was one quick title change thanks to Rapada retairing so I would expect Pasa to hold the title for a little while longer.

TERRY RAPADA vs SMOKIN' STEVE GUNN

Rapada goes out with a win.

BREAKING GAW NEWS

MARCH 23RD 2012

GAW VENUE CHANGE

http://imageshack.us/a/img198/4203/gawh.jpg

The GAW advanced booking line has been ringing off the hook this week! It seems that the draw of Terry Rapada's last ever match on US soil, combined with the above average shows that GAW have been putting on this month, has convinced a huge amount of Rhode Island natives to take a punt on the Golden Age Wrestling nostalgia fest! As a result GAW management have decided on a change of venue for this week's Tour Finale to THE SKID ROW CLUB. While not really offering the same atmosphere as the Pawtucket Armory Drill Hall it's only ten minutes down the road, and with a capacity of 1000 paying customers it should be able to fit everyone that wants to see the show!
