The Road To Glory Challenge

Recommended Posts

So, just ended the first year of my first RtG game as Quebec Pro Wrestling owned by Alyssian Scottsfield. Exciting stuff! We made a profit every month except January and December (January because we had no champions to boost merch sales, and December due to a contract snafu that resulted in us losing $7k) for an overall yearly profit of $14k.

Other than the (ill-fated, as it turns out) addition of a women's division the product is still the default QPW product (high intensity perf>pop with clean finishes).

My random mystery box roll was an 8, so I became Best Friends and drinking buddies with QPW's lead announcer, Jerome Turner.

Best show was a D-, worst show was an E-. E+ is the norm.

Best match was Phillipe LaGrenier defeating Nomad for the QPW title in December, D-.

User Character's best match was an E when he beat Kirk Drury to once again retain the QPW Montreal Title, also in December. That's #16 in the company's top 100.

Some notable stat improvements from my user character, who has been our midcard champion since the first show:

Popularity is up to 11.2 (F+) in Quebec, making me a midcarder. I used to be an upper midcarder back in the days when the best guys I could hire were usually cruiserweights and thus not pushed well in this product.

All in-ring skills have gone up two points.

all performance skills have gone up three points.

Athleticism is up 4, Power and Stamina are up 5 (Stamina to 60)

Star Quality is up 2 to 72, which is nice. Entertainment skills have improved but not much.

Sex Appeal is up from 0 to 2. ¬_¬

As for the company as a whole, we're up to 10.6% popularity in Quebec.

The main event consists of new-signing and champion Phillipe LaGrenier, QPW original Nomad, Blockbuster (who walked out on CGC) and Biff the Bruiser, with Thomas Morgan and the Disposable Heroes tag team (excellent chemistry) of Austin Smooth and Irwin Gutmann also worth a mention.

<p>Sounds like fun, I'm in. Not sure if I'll be able to stick with this all the way but I'll be reporting back soon.</p><p> </p><p>

Any tips on which workers to hire when starting? How often are you guys running shows? Is it worth waiting a few months to allow your cash to build up before doing anything?</p>

<p>Gonna give Japan a shot for the first time in a long while (my first ever 0/0/0/0 was in Japan, it went <em>okay</em> but not great).</p><p> </p><p>

I'm trying out a women's only promotion too, which I've never done, though I may migrate eventually to a bigger place and install a division/integration.</p><p> </p><p>

So... to Joshi I go.</p><p> </p><p>

--</p><p> </p><p>

I'm running WINNOW but with Daredevil reduced and Lucha increased. Cause I can, and running daredevil got irritating last time (constantly forgot to have content risk in my matches). With a face/heel divide installed, here we are on Day 1. No shows until march cause of the touring schedule, which will help considering touring = multiple shows a month. We're... really going to have to be careful about expenses.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

And the roster. I had Paige Croft but she was a negative influence so I cut her in favour of Emma. Backstage is only 71% though, and that's with me shelling out for perks. Not good, considering money isn't exactly coming out of our ears.</p>

<p>End of Year 1 Roll. 24. “Hit The Bricks” You have devoted your holiday season to training in the gym. +10 to spend on physical skills. (Athleticism, Toughness, Stamina, Power) Spending it on Stamina.</p><p> </p><p>

Popularity F+ in South East was up to E- in September and went back down in October, not sure what happened I think thats when I didn't appear in a show. </p><p> </p><p>

Finance: 47,504 in bank.</p><p>

ECW's Popularity didn't change at all, but we are up to E momentum so that's something.</p><p> </p><p>

ECW American: Matt Hocking (12 Month Reign - 6 Defences)</p><p>

ECW Tag Team: Lightning and Thunder (Won September 2013, 1 defence, beat Paratroopers) Other champions: Paratroopers, Paradox and Outlaw Wes Revell</p><p> </p><p>

Jason Thunder, Hollywood Bret Starr, Matt Hocking, and Forrest Stephens (UC) are my top four characters in term of momentum. </p><p> </p><p>

Haven't had any meaningful feuds yet but I think this year will change that up.</p><p> </p><p>

Lighting and Thunder are going to feud with Ant-Man and Anthony Murdoch (Curcio Lavoie)</p><p> </p><p>

Matt Hocking's going to drop the title soon, to Hollywood Bret Starr i think. They will probably have a storyline that reaches the season finale and then i'll bring in another face to feud with Starr. Any suggestions?</p><p> </p><p>

Notes Of Worth:</p><p>

Signed Matthew Keith back in July for the Season Finale, which resulted in my best match of the year Matthew Keith vs Matt Hocking at C-. One Month contract and he wouldn't resign afterwords. I'm gonna try to get him back this year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

----------------------</p><p>

Week 3 of Febuary we've reached Small! On our way! </p><p> </p><p>

Brought in Thomas Morgan as TradeMarc (with a Dude gimmick as a Face) to take on Forrest Stephens (my uc).</p><p> </p><p>

Hollywood Bret Starr just won the ECW American title off of Matt Hocking in a fatal four way elimination bout thanks to Hugh de Aske replacing the referee after Andrew Harper was eliminated and took out the referee. Team Canada (Starr and de Aske) will be feuding with East Coast Warriors (Hocking and Regular Joe) till (season finale) ECW WrestlePalooza 2014 in July. The title will probably change hands one more time before the season finale (with Hocking getting another short reign only to lose at the season finale to Starr.</p>

Just a little update from my RtG game, which has been progressing slowly as I deal with the run up to Xmas, writing for 8RoW and everything else in the world. :)

The Gambler (Gareth Wayne) has turned out to be an annoying boss, refusing to put over anyone on my roster so far, which meant that he became my first champion and has held it for 5 months so far. Deadly Deadshot is closing in on him in terms of popularity in my area so I'm hoping to be able to move the belt to him soon, otherwise I'm going to sign someone else for my main event to take the belt.

As of the most recent patches my sponsorship has jumped up massively so I'm investing in a tag division. I already had the Paratroopers warring with The Southern Gunslingers (Cowboy Buck Winchester and Bradley Blaze), so I've added the Good Old Boys and The Night Terrors (Babau and Moroi) to the mix. Going to have a little round robin tournament to create some champions there, which will take a few months. :)

My other big rivalry has been Ant Man vs Giant Brody, with both of them being power wrestlers despite their very different sizes. Their matches aren't very good, but it'sbeen doing good things for both of them and the crossover with Deadshot/Gambler has made for some good matches. My best rating so far is a D with Ant Man/Gambler that saw Brody distract Ant Man to give Gambler the win and to retain the gold, again because Gambler refused to lose. :p

I've also had Vikki Victoria and Mark Smart trying to out-weird each other, and they're about to rope in a random genned worker to make it more interesting. The gen seems promising and is a natural babyface with comedy skills so he should fit in quite nicely.

Other that, there have been 3 interesting news items. Luis Montero died (:() which let the EMLL booking position open, but they're are Regional so I can't apply. 2 days later Sadaharu Jimbo died, letting Seiji takeover and the booker position is open there, but they're at cult so I can't apply. And in mid-June, PRIDE Koiso is off filiming a movie "One Dark Night" for the next 6 months. He now has A* popularity in Japan (up from B), his acting jumped from 71 to 91 and his star quality has leapt from 94 to a perfect 100. When he gets back from that movie, PGHW are in for a hell of a ride. :)

From brief testing it looks like the gains made for movies drop away pretty quickly - in some cases so that by the time they're usable again they're no more popular than they were in the first place. It seems like this isn't quite how it would be meant to work, but I'd like more data to show whether this is true or not before posting anything about it in the suggestion forum.</p>

Overness and skill caps are soft, meaning that it's possible to go over them a little bit but they'll naturally slide back towards them if they do go past for any reasons. For events like a movie it's possible to have stats spiked quite far above their actual limits, so they'll slide downwards towards their real caps afterwards. Most people who end up on movies are fairly big stars already with quite high popularity and quite far along in their career, so they'll be most of the towards their likely caps which is why so many of them that go do movies end up sliding back again. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p>

<p>Just ran my July 2013 show for ROH in central British Isles. I started with a poor roster of nobodies with the highest wage payed out being 300 per month to JK Lee. Made a profit of over 1,000 two months in a row so highered Billy Robinson on 970 per month. He gets the belt becuase, frankly, no one can touch him. Bringing in around 4,000 profit the last two months so brought in Jonni Lowlife and am about to launch into a feud between these two highly payed workers. </p><p> </p><p>

JK Lee is on his final warning. He's constantly getting into trouble. I got a message from the locker room saying the other workers were getting fed up with him. I don't think he'll be around much longer.</p><p> </p><p>

My character - Carcalla Harris - has good performance skills, ok technical skill and not much else. I'm jobbing myself and getting over. Auto push has me in Upper Midcard.</p>

Had my first poach. Cameron Vessey by USPW. Vessey didn't want to lose his match against Casey Valentine at WrestlePalooza 2014, which was for the ECW South East Championship. Had I read my emails with a little more attention, I would of noticed this and saved myself from having to figure out what to do next. Time for a tournament, to crown a South East Champion.

<p>End of Year 2: 7. “That Loving Feeling…” Started Dating Sweet Tabitha (a manager in ECW).</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o666/sanityisforbidden_gds/Year2Update_zps7538381d.png</span></p><p> </p><p>

Had a few increases nothing too notable.</p><p> </p><p>

ECW has E- Pop in South East, and we lost the pop in Mid Alantic and Puerto Rico that we had thanks to no shows there, oversight on my part.</p><p> </p><p>

ECW Champions:</p><p>

America: Vacant (More on that in a little bit)</p><p>

South East: Forrest Stephens (UC, marks first reign with belt, beat Casey Valentine and two others in a elimination match for the title).</p><p>

Tag Team: Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler, The Ring Generals, 4 defences. (Beat Thunder and Lightning ending a 9 month reign).</p><p>

Rising Star: Daredevil Aero (won in a triple threat ladder match)</p><p> </p><p>

Now about that ECW America title picture. Matthew Keith beat Hollywood Bret Starr for the title, held on to it for four months with 2 defences. The reason the title is vacant, and I'm quite pissed at 'The Rebel' for this... Keith signed a Written Deal with OLLIE. </p><p> </p><p>

That's enough to make me want to restart, Keith and Forrest had excellent chemistry as opponents. They were going to feud for the better part of 2015, it would of probably got me to regional (or really close)... I'm going to put this save in my back pocket and come back to it. </p><p> </p><p>

Next on the list for an RTG. Will be 2 Feds, 2 UCs, the goal? Make these two the big two! Both UC's will start as an Owner since they have no desire to wrestle elsewhere. It will probably be ECW and maybe WCW (West Coast Wrestling)... yeah... I like the sound of that.</p><p> </p><p>

In the meantime I'm going to go cry in a corner over losing Matthew Keith.</p><p> </p><p>

---------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p>

Decided to just do West Coast Wrestling as a RTG Diary. Only difference in rules is their is no PST and Dirt Sheet is available. For storyline purposes, I have also elected to be the owner. Read it <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=522928" rel="external nofollow">here</a></p>

Popularity: F+ in Tri State</p><p>

Backstage Rating: 74% (It WAS 80 till I hired Primal Rage and he had a backstage incident with Bret Graveson)</p><p> </p><p>

Random Notes:</p><p> </p><p>

Reece Paige is quite the social butterfly...she is currently dating Bret Graveson and is close friends with Spike (who has only been with the company for two months)</p><p>

The Natural took Bradley Blaze under his wing.</p><p>

Roxy Kitten and Phillipe LaGrenier are dating.</p><p> </p><p>

Boriken Love Machine Jr has been an absolute blessing...he has had amazing matches, can cut some great promos...and only costs $250 per show. He feuded with C.L.M over the 'Love Machine' tag (even changing his name to The TRUE Love Machine) and lost. He then returned next month as The Hate Machine with Primal Rage has muscle.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm currently running a three month round robin tag team tournament. The winning team face each other and the winner will face either Phillipe LaGrenier or Primus Allen to be Your New Favourite Champion.</p><p> </p><p>

I currently have Casey Valentine, Davis Wayne Newton, Dawn the Cheerleader, Findlay O'Farraday and Rayne Man (who was part of the company for four months in 2014) in my sights. Casey Valentine is the first target however. I hired him for one match...and it got a D+ (my highest yet).</p><p> </p><p>

Getting the Regional will be slow, since the Tri State regional battle is tough. I'm gaining enough pop per show to cancel out the pop loss from losing the regional battle, but it's still slow.</p>

My suggestion would be to use him on everyshow, two or three times a show. A singles match, a tag match, a trips match, who cares just use him and watch his talent rub off on everyone else.</p>

<p>Not necessarily. Owners can be on PPA. The owner in my RTG is, anyway.</p><p> </p><p>

You won't get fired for not using him. Morale as a worker is separate from approval as an owner.</p><p> </p><p>

Therefore if he's on PPA and you can't afford him, don't use him.</p><p> </p><p>

If you can ever afford him spam him because Hoshino is awesome.</p><p> </p><p>

If he's on written, as Apu said, spam the hell out of him.</p>
