SWF In 2013

You could also use him as the leader of a stable, so you can use his menace and decent mic skills in angles and let the others wrestle the matches. I have him leading Scythe and Beast Bantom - it got Bantom from 0 pop to main event in six months.

Sorry for double post.

I feel like I've made a colossal boob up, at Nothing to Lose 2014 headlined by Remo vs Jack Bruce for the SWF Heavyweight Title and I had two contrasting ideas,

1) Bruce retains via DQ

or

2) Remo wins the title via stoppage.

stupidly I went for option 2, and immediately regret it, I cannot go back as I'm now almost a week past the PPV.

I was considering starting again but i'm enjoying the lay of this game, I've been building Remo up as a Lesnar/Owen prize fighter and I don't really want to job him out in his first defense just to get the belt back to Bruce.

what should I do?

My main question would be why is having the belt on Remo a bad thing? He doesn't deliver match grades quite as strongly as Bruce but he's not bad in that regard and his promos should be fine. Having Bruce spend the next few months chasing the title while Remo insists he "earns" rematch certainly seems like it would be fun to book.

Not necessarily a "bad thing" I was maybe just worried it was more premature.. I think you're right, Was considering having Bruce look to prove that he can survive similar to Cena and Lesnar's most recent feud as in the match I did have Remo maul Bruce.

Thanks for the spin Papa

No problem.

The fact that it was a stoppage definitely helps IMO. I just imagine a whole long series of vignettes as Jack Bruce tries to evolve and adapt to take down the monster. I would probably target a rematch for the Supreme Challenge.

No problem. I enjoy tossing around booking ideas, much as many on here do. Its a fun activity and its cool to see different perspectives.

Having Remo go over Bruce in a dominant fashion early into the game has so many possibilities. I'm actually considering it myself. You can make that into a really long storyline if you want. Of course, it depends on what you also have planned for the world title scene and the main event in gereral. Aside from that, you could make this run a year or more.

So Jack doesn't get an immediate rematch because of the stoppage. Losing to Remo isn't a shame, but to lose so decisively is something of a surprise. It motivates Jack and we get those "getting into the best shape of his career" montages. We get introspective promos about him having to re-examine his life - he's gotten too decadent (he is a rock star, after all) and lost focus becuase of his life outside of the ring. No more. Its all about getting that title back. Remo has some cursory title defenses where he looks like a monster and Jack earns his rematch. Set for The Surpreme Challenge.

And Jack loses again.

Maybe another loss where he is dominated, but he can't get past the power and explosiveness of Remo. From this point, you could go in many different directions. Maybe its how you move Jack out of the ME scene - if he's on time decline. Maybe its how you give a shot to someone like Gilmore and move them up. Or maybe you keep it about Jack Bruce.

Jack isn't going to get his next chance for a while. six months or a year. This is going to be drawn out, slow storytelling. For a month or two, Jack is off screen. He's withdrawn and contemplating his future in professional wrestling. He's far from forgotten - you get weekly "Jack Bruce Updates" on Supreme TV. Paparazzi and fans are sending in "Jack sightings". But Jack Bruce isn't going to retire. He's going to find a way to slay the monster. Simply getting into better shape wasn't enough. Jack needs to evolve. I view him as an exciting, athletic, and instinctive wrestler. There is toughness there but he is far more likely to do something dazzling and risky than take a cerebral, tactical approach to wearing down an opponent.

The story about Jack trying to evolve his approach could legit take up to a year. Remo would other feuds in that time. Heck, you could even take the title off of him if you wanted and still keep it about Jack vs Remo. But giving Remo a massive title reign lends more power to this story. I could see them bringing in SWF Legends for cameos as he seeks to evolve his game. Sam Strong probably not, but Rip Chord? Maybe even Sam Keith. Hard to do in-game, but you can fake it. I could even see a nice mini story arc of Rich Money helping out Jack, mainly as I've always seen Money as a very cerebral, tactical wrestler who manages to find an advantage in every situation. And that dynamic could be used to set up Jack's next feud.

Does Jack finally take down Remo in a glorious battle at The Supreme Challenge 2015? Does he fail one again? so many possibilities....

Wow... Nice!

I have actually started building to something similar, Based on the suggestions you gave previously I now fully intend for Bruce to get a rematch at Supreme Challenge in 5 Months, I never thought of having a second loss occur but I just may now.

On Supreme TV 2 weeks after the PPV I had a segment where Bruce invited the cameras to his home and gave the impression that "this was the most brutal and crushing loss of my career" he also announced that he's going to take some time to refocus and try to come up with another gameplan.

All the while the Beast Remo will win his matches, mainly via stoppage just to further put over the fact he's not out to win matches he's out to maim and hurt, all the while his Advocate Duane Fry will proclaim from the roof tops that no one can beat his "Duane Fry Guy"

I now may have Bruce lose and continue this on for at least a year like you suggested, eventually maybe after two failed attempts Bruce "retires" knowing he cannot beat Remo and instead turns his focus to training someone up who can beat him.

It's that new diary excitement taking over once again, so I might as well give my readers some teasers for the 2015 storylines I have planned, to go with the backstage teasers I'm currently posting. Currently, my save game is in August 2014 (Week 3), and here are some of the ongoing storylines.

- Rich Money just cashed in his Nothing to Lose contract for World Heavyweight on Angry Gilmore, and has done so with the help of a brand-new Almighty Dollar, consisting of three fresh recruits from TCW. Clue - two of these recruits have yet to make an appearance in any one of my SWF diaries.

- The Chase Agency, previously disbanded as per the stipulation of the Frehley vs James/Huntingdon/Rogue gauntlet match (booked as a handicap) at Nothing to Lose, is back as a face stable. Members are: Emma Chase, Brandon James, Steve Frehley (!!), Matthew Keith (!!!), and someone from TCW. They're currently feuding with Eric Eisen's Klubb stable, which features Eisen, Troy Tornado, Enforcer (Primus) Allen, and an increasingly lukewarm Marc DuBois and Joe Sexy. Shouldn't have given DuBois a second chance with that short-term deal.

- Ranger has been repackaged for the second season of the SWF WTF rookie search. Gave him the ring name Charlie "Texas" Walker, an obvious Chuck Norris reference. His gimmick, however, is that of a violent Southern rocker whose penchant for fighting his fellow rookies is only matched by his love for bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Oak Arkansas. He's also booked to be no good at actual wrestling - kinda hard giving him wins in a season that also features Mikey (James) Kiichi, Donnie Jacobs (Donnie J, natch), and other relatively over indie recruits. And his mentor Troy Tornado couldn't care less, just as long as he and Charlie can drink, fight, and jam on their favorite '70s rock songs.

- Going back to Eric Eisen, he's both the SWF Television Champion (second midcard belt - no second main event belt this time around) and the King of Supreme, so I'm booking him in angles where he sort of acts and talks like King Booker...only with a burly bodyguard (Enforcer Allen) instead of a beautiful and sexy "Queen" by his side. Frehley's still at 80-ish popularity, but his stock in storylines has fallen a bit since a couple unsuccessful PPV matches representing America against Marat Khoklov. So he's now gunning for the TV title.

Just some advice if i could guys.

I'm currently running a storyline between Valiant and Vengeance and it's approaching the 2 month mark and the 2 still have not faced off in a match, its basically been Valiant cutting promo's challenging Vengeance and Vengeance appearing after the lights cut out and beating him down, Vengeance has still not revealed his reasons for the attacks.

So this presents 2 questions.

1 How long could/should I hold off before their inevitable match?

2 should I ever have Vengeance reveal his motives for the attacks or would it be more interesting to never have him reveal his reasons?

I would make the match this month with Vengeance winning. Valiant gets a violent after match beatdown, leaving him senseless.

The Supreme TV before a pay per view, after a Vengeance match, lights gets off and Valiant's voice is heard saying "I know why, see you Thursday". You choose who win this match but in the end Valiant steals Vengeance's chain.

Keeping the precious item with him, Valiant keep teasing to reveal Vengeance's reasons and challenges him to a Chain match, the default strap match.

Vengeance wins, gets his chain back and his reasons hidden.

Valiant wins, reveal why he was attacked.

I have some potential signings I am not sure about and was looking for some thoughts/insight:

The Natural Storm - I like the maxed out tag experience, as I think it gives their match ratings a high floor. However, they are not very skilled individually and they would start very low on the card.

Ultimate Phoenix - I feel like there is a void for a high-profile masked luchador in the SWF and I don't think anyone would fit this role better. He has good all-round skills, but not very much overness in the US. Plus you would most likely have to outbid SOTBPW, which I have found very difficult. If anyone has signed him before, I would be interested to know how easily he gained popularity.

Dermot O'Logical - The gimmick is perfect for SWF's midcard. He lacks skills just about everywhere, but could improve in development.

Buddy Garner - I'm the owner, so nothing prevents me from signing MMA crossovers. A cross between Brock Lesnar's recent WWE run and iruleall15's diary has me inspired to turn Buddy Garner into a monster heel in the SWF, but I am worried his style will not work with the product. If it doesn't work, it could be a colossal waste of time.

If anyone wants to ask me about potential signings, feel free. I have had a few multi-year SWF games, so if there is someone on the fence, I have probably picked them up at some point.

I don't think being an owner will help with Garner - the audience won't like him. At least, that's what happened when I brought in Willie York for a short spell.

Natural Storm - They are a perfect anchor for the tag team division. Letting them develop in the midcard and slowly take over the spot the Bumfholes have would be ideal in my opinion.

Ultimate Phoenix - Not worth it. Stealing Silver Tiger is a better option to me. Younger, just as talented, and you can always give him a new mask.

Dermot O'Logical - To me he seems like a low lever comedy heel with maybe one or two shots at the American championship if you feel like giving him a little boost.

Buddy Garner - Meh. Don't feel like he fits into the SWF brand. Plus you have Gilmore already as the technician and Remo as the big athlete freak. You have Brock Lesnar split in two already.

When it comes to adding new talent, I've often been guilty of bloating the roster of SWF.... or any company I run. I try to ensure I am bringing someone in with set plans for how I will use them. Not just ideas, but plans. Otherwise the "I can find ways to use this guy/gal" will get me a whole bunch of talented youngsters jobbing at the bottom of the roster.

As for the listed....

Natural Storm are one of the best teams in North America. They are individually reasonably talented - not elite but the lowest Performance Skill either has is C, which is hardly awful. They have some popularity. The New Wave and The Machines (arguably) are the only better regular teams in NA when you consider everything. Natural Storm lack a "hook" to get them over but pair them with a decent manager and some feuds and they can be a core team in the SWF. They really only need to be in the C to C+ pop range to be pretty useful and they start at D+.

Ultimate Phoenix isn't the direction to go IMO. He has a decent amount of overness and he's solid in the ring.... but he's 38. He's got some wear and tear so he could be on time decline when you sign him, let alone after a year once you've built him up a bit. There are plenty of masked wrestler options that will serve you better, even if it means starting a bit lower. Look at El Mitico Jr, Amazing Firefly, etc.

Nothing wrong with take a flier on someone like Dermot and seeing if they develop. Part of the fun of having development.

Garner is still a good worker, but he's 41 years, has OK overness in the US, has some wear n tear. When you add in his Style not suiting the company, I would look to better options. He's also conservative enough that he won't sign with the SWF if the product is default. Although there aren't many others with the MMA background, you can create that kind of character and there are many options.

Thanks for the awesome replies. Roster bloat becomes an issue with every SWF game of mine. I have abandoned saves because I fill my roster with workers I don't have uses for. Now I welcome the bloat. I just make sure to only sign workers I have concrete plans for, and limit the number of workers I sign with low popularity. It usually doesn't take long for my roster to resemble WWE in 2002 and I typically aim for a brand split toward the end of 2014.

I agree about the Natural Storm. I have the Bumfholes starting singles pushes, so they could fill that gap perfectly. I also see what you guys mean about Ultimate Phoenix. I doubt I could make him worth the contract I would have to shell out. I have Blue Phantom in development in the touring promotion I always set up as a better development territory. El Mitico Jr. works there as well. Dermot O'Logical also works there, but I am thinking of bringing him in so we can specifically work on his entertainment skills. You're right. Why not give him a chance. As for Garner, I change risque to medium from the beginning, so that would not be a problem. I feel like he could have some amazing matches with guys like Gilmore and Remo, but if the crowd really won't accept it, it won't work. I wouldn't bring him in as an integral part of the roster. More like a 1-2 year contract to build some overness and pass it on other workers while hopefully having classic matches. He almost definitely wouldn't go near the title.

Natural Storm isn't the Machines or New Wave -- but they aren't at the same point in their careers, so it's an unfair comparison. The team is young and still growing. Rayne is the one that is more "ready now" of the two, but Howard has more overall potential.

Admittedly, the biggest drawback has to be the apparent blandness of both workers -- I think from a creative and kayfabe standpoint, it may be best to let them get over as a team but plan to split the two apart down the road, with the added bonus being that the split/feud would probably get both guys over.

Ultimate Phoenix - I feel like there is a void for a high-profile masked luchador in the SWF and I don't think anyone would fit this role better. He has good all-round skills, but not very much overness in the US. Plus you would most likely have to outbid SOTBPW, which I have found very difficult. I've yet to use Pheonix, but simply based on skills, he's fairly lackluster compared to other talents south of the border.

SOTBPW has an amazingly talented midcard -- personally, I'd go after Velocidad, who has amazing potential but is raw and mallable. The Golden Kings bring a solid tag act that is over south of the border, and both have plenty of potential. If you hit international, El Fuerza is worth a look -- I've seen him get over pretty quickly, and he has Jack Bruce level promo skills. I may take a flier on El Leon too at international -- he's terrific in-ring and at 31 the sky is the limit.

All of those guys listed are pretty close to Pheonix in overness, but younger and less experienced.

Dermot O'Logical - The gimmick is perfect for SWF's midcard. He lacks skills just about everywhere, but could improve in development.

At his age and experience, there are numerous better options (though I'll admit I've been burned by Dermot before). I think you'd be better off using Doctor Michael O'Haire -- he has a similar gimmick and could make a decent pairing with McClean.

The "Style" isn't what actually has the effect* -- rather, it's the fighter's individual stats. Many forget this, but Marat Khoklov got his start in INSPIRE, a worked MMA promotion, and he's one of the five most over guys in starting SWF (he even held the KOF once). Garner's major problem is his lack of entertainment -- while his star quality is great, he lacks the menace and charisma to get over. Garner could be a decent one-off -- with the right opponent, he could have a great match -- but little more at this point in his career.

It's that old question resurfacing again now that I'm writing a few 2015 shows in advance for the new diary.

With Jack Bruce (face) and Rich Money (heel) at A* and Angry Gilmore and Remo (face) and Rocky Golden (heel) at A-level popularity as of January 2015, would it make sense to introduce a second main event title? Here's a quick wrap-up of what's currently going on in the main event scene.

Main feuds are now Bruce vs reigning champion Money for the World Heavyweight title, and Remo vs Golden in a battle of powerhouses. So as not to leak too much out, my lips are sealed on Gilmore's current storyline...for now.

Right now I have 12 main eventers in a roster of 60, with one of them (Joey Minnesota) currently holding the North American title. Marat Khoklov's still on my roster exclusively booked for PPVs (and I can't wait to cut him loose, TBH) and Captain Atomic's popularity is a high B-, but everyone else is at B or better. And as I've done in previous games, Nothing to Lose (February) is my Money in the Bank equivalent, and I'm planning two six-man contract ladder matches for that one. For When Hell Freezes Over, it's going to be Remo-Golden in the semi-main and Bruce-Money in the main event.

Another 'main event title' sounds really samey to me. Like, the feuds would run the risk of overlap with your World and North American stories. With as big a roster as you have, creating something new to fight for could be great, but it should be 'different' in some way. Hardcore rules. Maximum/Minimum weights. Maybe a different environment, like an octagon/no ropes/steel cage only belt. Or it's not an official title at all, rather a enchanted object that does 'something' that main eventers would want to get their hands on (like a treasure map or magic potion).

Giving people something else to fight for? Awesome. Just another belt? Boring.

Hmmmm...guess I'll go for that then, since the only brand split I'm contemplating is turning Uprising into a purely NXT-style show. I did kinda wonder anyway why WWE still kept both main event belts for a while after the brand split ended.

Since I had Remo and Golden possibly feuding for the planned second main event belt, I'll probably have them fighting over "alpha dog" status, Remo being the physical freak of nature he's always been in the SWF, and Golden arriving late in 2014 as a big, imposing sort in his own right, and someone who hasn't been pinned or submitted since his SWF debut.

The true sign of a great main eventer is the ability to capture the attention of the audience without requiring the title belt in the first place. Being so big you don't need the title to keep people from believing you're at the top. There are tons of compelling reasons to fight some one else it just depends on how soap opera-y you want to get with it. With some one like Remo a bit more of realistic storyline is probably better, who is the biggest dog in the yard is always a good go to for him.

I gotta agree with Self – its more appealing to do something other than another main event title. It would be different if there was an actual brand split but even that….having two “world” or top titles is a rather contradictory idea.

That said, there are so many possibilities and it really depends on far you want to go.

The Face of the Company – this could be anyone but works easily with Jack Bruce when he doesn’t have the title. So in theory, the champion should be the “face of the company”, but maybe they still use Jack Bruce because he’s Jack Bruce. Think of all the PR work that John Cena does. Someone else wants that role. Cue feud.

Sponsorship – being a star in a company as big as the SWF brings perks. Lucrative sponsorship and endorsement deals. Someone lands a huge deal with Dassler Sports Wear and someone else wants. Cue feud.

The Ladies Hand – there is something outdated and misogynistic about two men fighting over the hand of a woman, as if she had no right to decide herself… yet it still works. Cue feud.

The Magical Object of <Insert Power Here> - okay, this one is a touch cartoony for my tastes in concept, but the execution doesn’t have to be. It can be played rather straight and serious.

Historical Object of Personal Value – everyone knows that Remo was a world class high school wrestler, right? That he has a huge collection of trophies that he values dearly. And that his trophy for winning the Global Superstar Mega-Max Wrestling Tournament as an 8 year old is his most valued possession. Someone wants it. Cue feud.

THIS IS MY PLACE – Jack Bruce is from New York. Jack Bruce is New York. He loves the city and the city loves him. Nowhere is he more loved than his favorite restaurant, Papa Guido’s in Little Italy. But lately, Rich Money has been showing up there and Papa Guido has been showing Money plenty of love and respect. Only one SWF Legend has the right to call that restaurant home? Who will it be? Cue feud.

It can be almost anything that someone might value or desire. It doesn’t matter if has any connection to wrestling.

I think having so many high-level stars creates an opportunity to convert SWF into a dynamic, international company, and this is best done by introducing new titles and retiring old titles. This scenario allows for a temporary excess of titles to capitalize on the number of over main eventers with mechanisms to return to the old title structure at a later date.

I agree there shouldn't be a straight main event title -- however, I think a title similar to the old intercontinental championship in WWF, a smirch below main event, would work well in 2014 SWF. I would "create" the title as a main event belt, and after creation, change it to a "floating" title. Therefore, the title starts with main event prestige, but will fluctuate depending on title match quality.

This new title serves two purposes: 1st, it sets up the opportunity for a tournament, keeping both feud participants (Rocky and Remo, for example) in competition but preventing them from direct combat, slow building an eventual match. 2nd, SWF is the dominant company in the 2014 CVerse, and as such, it has outgrown the "North American Title", and a secondary title sets up a title unification storyline/match down the road while signifying broad appeal.

I haven't seen tournaments mentioned, but I believe that a one-night tournament PPV, similar to King of The Ring, is a great fit in 2014 SWF. It not only sets up a possible blow-off, but it also can generate new feuds/storylines. I'd have the reward be a World Title Shot at the subsequent PPV. I'd recommend replacing Break Like The Wind with, say, "Night of Legends" with the winner claiming a title shot and gaining the title of "The Supreme Legend".
