Week 1 November 2013

Going over the books, I saw we had profited a staggering $16k in October. Thats over 6 times the amount of money I started the promotion with at the beginning of the year. In fact , it was enough money to do something with, although I still had to decide what. Did I want to do another show each month, probably in Quebec? We were virtually unknown in that region, so i figure the show would lose money, but unlike Ontario, Quebec did have a regional tv network that had been known to carry wrestling in the past. If we managed to get built up enough in Quebec for that network to agree to a tv deal, then we could be gaining fans in two provinces at once.

Alternatively, I could use the profits to add more workers to the roster, and beefing up people to work in a tag division, and possibly introduce a midcard belt as well. Our growth would be slower this way, and there would be more overhead in terms of salaries.

I would have to give some thought as to which road I wanted to take, and probably make a decision later in the month. Given the closures of PWC and ACPW this year, and news that GCG had let several people go at the beginning of the month, being too aggressive had serious consequences.

TPW NIGHT OF COMBAT

Sat Week 2 November 2013

Held at Twin Elm Park, Ontario Canada Att: 984

PRE SHOW

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JoshJones_zps33bc926b.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/BenWilliams_zpsb777d81b.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/BobCasey-1_zps1570090b.jpg

Josh Jones VS Ben Williams VS Bob Casey

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Josh Jones defeated Bob Casey and Ben Williams in 7:52 when Josh Jones defeated Ben Williams by pinfall with a Canadian Backdrop.

Match Rating D-

As we near a year of operation, and have assembled a roster double in size from what we started with, some of my initial hirings are slotting into fairly well defined roles. Jones is a midcarder with potential, Williams is there to stare at the lights, and Casey is there for the midcarders and above to go over regularly, while notching occasional wins himself.

Bradley Blaze, Joffy Laine and American Cobras w\ Dharma Gregg VS Buzz Reid, Outlaw Wes Revell & The Atlantic Connection w\ Streetz

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Buzz Reid, Outlaw Wes Revell and The Atlantic Connection defeated Bradley Blaze, Joffy Laine and American Cobras in 7:36 when Outlaw Wes Revell defeated Storm Spillane by pinfall.

Match Rating D-

A training match between most of the midcard and lower guys who didn't have a match on the main show. As we are still fairly profitable each month, even with two shows, I like to make sure all the guys get some work in ( and thus get paid for) every show, even if they aren't on the main part of that show each time. After all, most of these guys are just like me when I broke into the business, just wanting the opportunity to work in front of people, and get better at the thing they love, wrestling.

MAIN SHOW

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/CalSanders_zps5b57db41.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/IrwinGutmann_zpsf44983fc.jpg w\ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/RoxyKitten_zps79a35617.jpg

Cal Sanders VS Irwin Gutmann w\ Roxy Kitten

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Cal Sanders defeated Irwin Gutmann in 11:51 by pinfall with a Frog Splash.

Match Rating C-

Starting things off on a high note as main event gatekeeper Cal Sanders gets a strong win over the up and coming Gutmann. But Gutmann in turn puts on an impressive performance against a skilled veteran who is acknowledged as among the top performers in TPW currently. Its also a good experience for both men as Sanders gets to see more advanced technical holds, while Gutmann gets some grounding in the in ring skills that make professional wrestling different from amateur.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ChrisFlynn_zpsa4597200.jpgw\http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DharmaGregg_zps3f559269.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Raphael-1_zpsd0212d5a.jpg w\ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/RoxyKitten_zps79a35617.jpg

Chris Flynn w\ Dharma Gregg VS Raphael w\ Roxy Kitten

In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Chris Flynn defeated Raphael in 12:27 by submission with a Flynn-Lock.

Match Rating D

While Youngman-Raphael stole the show last month, Flynn and Raphael don't reach the same heights as they really didn't work well in the ring together. Flynn, being more well known in the area, snags the win tonight as the feud between Dharma and Roxy ( and their clients) continues.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/RayneMan_zps3260c75a.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/QuentinQueen_zps48bc7227.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThimblebyLangton_zps2d5e4bcd.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/WootonFitzpaine_zpsb15ddcd0.jpg

Rayne Man & Quentin Queen VS Good Ol Boys

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Rayne Man and Quentin Queen defeated Good Ole Boys in 11:33 when Rayne Man defeated Thimbleby Langton by submission with a Rayne Fall.

Match Rating D-

Okay match. Rayne gets the win as he is still a top contender, but Queen is something of an enigma. Of all the younger talent I hired when I started, he's the one I still don't have a clear picture on. He's clearly in the shadow of Youngman and behind Gutmann in terms of ring skills, but he has more charisma than Jones, and more consistency than Joffy Laine. But really he hasn't done anything to stand out. He's pretty much consistently middle of the pack, and I am beginning to see why TCW decided not to bring him on the main roster right after he graduated their training school. They saw the basic package is there, but probably wanted to see if some spark developed. Kind of like I am doing now, waiting to see if the light is going to go on for him, or if consistently middle of the pack is all there is from him.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ErnestYoungman-1_zps91e00a51.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ChrisFlynn_zpsa4597200.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DharmaGregg_zps3f559269.jpg

Dharma is backstage with her clients Ernest Youngman and Chris Flynn when she is asked about her rivalry with Roxy Kitten.

Dharma: Rivalry? You mean the petty jealousy of that painted up groupie? Please. She's been second best to me from the beginning of us being in BSC. I was the first Queen of the Ring, which I held 3 times, while she won one tag title. I am a better dancer, wrestler, and now manager than she will ever be!

Flynn: That's right! And as for Roxy's clients, well, we have been kicking their ass time after time. They are wanna be's, but me and the Ring Assassin here are the real deal!

Youngman: Gutmann and Raphael are good competitors, I will grant them that much. But I have already beaten Gutmann and Raphael, so now my sights are set on a loftier goal. Tonight I take another step closer to Proven, and away from Potential, as after I win tonight, I will be challenging whoever leaves the ring with the Trademark title.

Dharma: Managing Champions, something else I will do better than Roxy ever could.

The trio then walk away.

Rating D

Continuing the feud storyline between Dharma and Roxy, although it has been somewhat one sided so far. But like most things, an early lead is not an indicator of the final score. I plan for the managerial part of this feud to last a long time.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ErnestYoungman-1_zps91e00a51.jpg w\http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DharmaGregg_zps3f559269.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MountieMann_zps16a38f5d.jpg

Ernest Youngman w\ Dharma Gregg VS Mountie Mann

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Mountie Mann defeated Ernest Youngman in 11:58 by submission with a Canadian Sleeper Hold.

Match Rating C-

While it's inevitable that I will pull the trigger on Youngman's run at the top, recent ( and soon to be upcoming) events have enabled me to push it back a little bit longer so that Youngman can continue to grow his fan support a little more. Mann cements his place as the number 2 heel in the company with this win and, even though this is his first one on one victory over Youngman, actually has more wins over him than anyone else in the promotion, having been the victor in two previous tag meetings.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/SteveFlash-1_zps0c9a684e.jpg

Steve Flash is backstage

Flash: Morgan, last month, I showed you and everyone else that, even though I may have lost a step, you are not better than me as I matched you hold for hold, move for move. Tonight, I am going to do more than that. Tonight, I am going to reach out and grasp that glory one last time and show it hasn't faded.

Tonight, I beat you in the ring and take the Trademark title!

Rating D-

Decent promo from Flash to hype the main event.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThomasMorgan_alt1.jpg

'Trademark' Thomas Morgan responds to Flash

Morgan: You're going to take my title Flash? Just because I didn't pin your shoulders to the mat or make you tap last month because time ran out, you suddenly think you have a chance at this belt? Don't mistake my going easy on a decrepit old man I used to respect a long time ago as some kind of sign that you are in any way equal to me. Last month was me showing you some pity. Tonight will be you getting all that the 'Trademark' has to bring inside this ring.

After I leave this ring, with my title, and you will be left laying in the ring groggily realizing this one basic truth. I...AM...BETTER...THAN...YOU!

Rating D

Good follow up promo to further hype the main event.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/SteveFlash-1_zps0c9a684e.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThomasMorgan_alt1.jpg

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/TPWChampionship_zps1d866098.jpg

Steve Flash VS 'Trademark' Thomas Morgan© for the TPW Trademark Championship

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Steve Flash defeated Thomas Morgan in 22:47 by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Steve Flash wins the Trademark Championship title.

Match Rating C-

A good main event closes out the show, and witnesses Steve Flash get one more run with a top title. This was part of why Mann got the victory, as once I knew Flash and I could have solid matches, I felt comfortable giving him a run at the top for awhile. And since both he and Youngman are faces, I can't just throw them together one on one, I need to do something else to get there and this was the first step.

OVERALL SHOW C-

Just short of a sellout this time, but still pretty much a full arena witnesses the first title change in TPW history. I like to think my run with the title had brought it some prestige and elevated the belt a little, and I couldn't think of a better person to lose it to than Steve Flash. Even if he only has it for a little while, he will add further value to the belt. Overall the show had several strong matches, including the opener between Sanders and Gutmann, proving that our roster was getting deeper and we had more than just Youngman and myself to rely on for good matches.

Mon week 3 Nov 2013

The owners in the COTT alliance hold a bi-weekly phone conference to handle any business pertaining to the alliance, such as possible member applications ( very rarely) complaints or issues between members of the alliance ( rare, but happen, especially if someone thinks they didn't get fair value in a worker trade or compensation on a loaned worker) or to go over the general financial situation of the umbrella alliance corporation( mostly reading a bottom line number and any gains or losses from investments in the previous month. Accountants and investment lawyers handle the day to day).

Of course the bulk of these meetings turn into each owner bragging about how their company is doing, or if they have managed to get a name signing ( I've been able to do my share of this the last couple months) or road stories about the past ( mostly from Sam Keith and Larry Vessey). Basically just some time for the individual owners to interact on a personal, if remote, basis and build some bonds to strengthen the alliance. Most of the actual inter-promotional stuff happens outside these meetings as they usually only involve a couple of the owners. But occasionally, after the others log off, some things are done by the remaining two people on the line, in this case Sam Keith and myself.

Sam had asked me to stick around at the end of the meeting because he had something he wanted to run by me.

Sam Keith: Hey Thomas, love what you are doing with your promotion there and how you seem to be balancing keeping the shows entertaining and stocked with talent while also maintaining profitability. It gladdens me to see you being a healthy addition to our alliance.

Morgan: I appreciate that Sam, I really do. I think joining the COTT was the right step for my promotion and I feel that it has helped contribute to our quick rise in no small part. In fact, I had an idea I wanted to run by the other owners at our next meeting, that probably wouldn't have been possible without COTT, but just giving me congratulations for what we have done so far isn't why you asked me to stay on is it?

Keith: No, it wasn't. I wanted to ask you to consider taking someone on with your promotion for awhile, but don't feel you have any obligation to accept. I just wanted to run it by you for your consideration.

My boy Greg just finished his tours in Japan and doesn't have any commitments right now. When I was his age, I went to Canada to hone my skills further after Japan and I think he would benefit from doing the same. Now, I could just bring him to MAW for awhile to work till he found where else he wanted to go, but he doesn't like to trade off my name, preferring to make his own way. Even though I have a history with CGC, I don't think Greg wants to work someplace that big since they'd probably want him to sign an exclusive deal, and Greg, moreso than his brother, has the same wanderlust I had when I was his age. If he worked for you, he could still get some good work in, and begin building his name in Canada, while also having opportunities to work in the other COTT promotions from time to time if he saw fit.

Again, its just an idea, there is no obligation. Evaluate Greg like you would any other possible addition to your company. If you don't think its a good fit for you, I am fine with it. And, of course, I can't guarantee how long he would stay around, as he may decide he likes it better in Japan, or he might want to try taking the step up to a CGC or TCW or even SWF. But, thats no different than with any other wrestler we deal with.

Morgan: Sam, thank you. I know a father always wants whats best for his kids, and that you think my company would be a good place for Greg means a lot to me. I'll get ahold of some of recent match tapes from Japan and if I like what I see, which, being your son, most probably I will, then I will contact him and see if we can work something out. Fair enough?

Keith: That's all I can ask. Thanks again Thomas.

From the TPW Website

Friday Week 3 Nov 2013

TPW, the fastest rising promotion in Canada, is proud to announce the newest additions to our star studded roster.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/GregGauge.jpg

First is Greg Gauge. While he is reticent to speak about his past, his in ring skills are first class. Having just finished almost a year in Japan working for some of their oldest and most prestigious companies, Gauge has come back to North America and is looking to make his mark in Canada with the fast growing Trademark Pro Wrestling.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/K-Squared_zps96317c60.jpg

And then a veteran of the Canadian Independent Scene for almost a decade, is a man who has gone by several names, but in TPW he has dubbed himself as Special K. The K'ster is looking to follow in the steps of other veteran Canadian Independent stars like Cal Sanders, Mountie Mann and TPW Owner 'Trademark' Thomas Morgan and prove his skills to the ever larger TPW audiences.

So all you true fans of Trademark Pro Wrestling, get ready to see these two newest members at the upcoming TPW Events.

Must have been a hard sell on Keith's kid, you should have held out for more!

I've always liked K Squared. Not sure about Special K unless you have a new sponsor and this is how you've decided to work in product placement.

A bit surprised to see Flash with the belt, but thinking about it, I could so see Morgan doing this. For someone he sees a lot of himself in - never got the chance to really run with the ball despite success in the East Coast Wars. Recently failed promotion. That heel Morgan seems like a pretty decent guy if you ask me.

Also, the impetuous me (and if Morgan were 15 years younger doing this) would have demanded you do something rash with that $16 000 windfall. As it is, I think it keeps in the style of 2 decade veteran trying to leave his mark on the industry... especially as you have Flash who flamed out after doing what you opted not to.

Cheers.

Getting him being unemployed at all was surprising to me. So far, I've only hired people who were completely unemployed. I've brought in talent trades for workers from other promotions, but anyone who was a permanent hire on my roster was not working for anyone else at the time ( and except for one person, none are now). Of course, I could lose him to the next japanese tour so it is a gamble signing him.

As for the Special K name, I admit its kind of lame, but then so is his real name and K-Squared. But now that I think about it, I missed a golden gimmick opportunity here. I should have hired Mark Smart too, changed his first name to Maxwell, and then have K -Squared debut as a heel with the name KAOS.

As for the windfall, I do have some plans that will cost some extra money, but we'll have to see what kind of dent that actually makes in the profits.

I usually rename him to Stewart Kennedy or Kenny Stuarts. Something to combine his previous alias/names

TPW SOMETHING TO PROVE

Saturday Week 4 November 2013

Held at the Varsity Arena, Ontario Canada Att: 1657

PRE SHOW

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/GregGauge.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/K-Squared_zps96317c60.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ChrisFlynn_zpsa4597200.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/IrwinGutmann_zpsf44983fc.jpg

15 man Battle Royale

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Greg Gauge won a battle royal in 9:38. The other members of the 'final four' were Special K, Irwin Gutmann and Chris Flynn, with Special K being the final elimination. Special K got the most eliminations over the course of the match.

Match Rating D+

Mostly a training match, although the newcomers do get the greater share of the spotlight. And although it was a training match for those not on the main show tonight, the final four wasn't just a coincidence.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Streetz_zps87276eff.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ChloeDean_zpsd67be895.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DharmaGregg_zps3f559269.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/RoxyKitten_zps79a35617.jpg

Streetz holds another contest between the girls, this time a Thanksgiving Pageant. Dean comes out in a female Pilgrim's outfit, although one that no female pilgrim would have ever worn given the amount of skin showing. Dharma comes out in a tan leather bikini with a single feather headband, and Roxy comes out in something kind of similiar, although her's black leather, and with a lot of darker makeup around her face, looking like a punk rocker Pocahontas.

After the fan voting, Chloe Dean gets the greater volume of cheers.

Rating E+

Yes, its somewhat fanservice, and doesn't seem to draw quite as boisterous a reaction from the larger Varsity Arena than it did in the smaller and cozier Twin Elm Park site. Dean picks up the victory here to give all three of the female managers one win each in this type of contest.

MAIN SHOW

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/CalSanders_zps5b57db41.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/RayneMan_zps3260c75a.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/CurtisJenkins_zps2a5eb244.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/RileyMcManus_zpsc9951795.jpg w\ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Streetz_zps87276eff.jpg

Cal Sanders & Rayne Man VS The Atlantic Connection w\ Streetz

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Rayne Man and Cal Sanders defeated The Atlantic Connection in 11:31 when Rayne Man defeated Curtis Jenkins by pinfall with a Rayne Drop.

Match Rating D+

The Atlantic Connection are a solid tag team and will probably be a force to be reckoned with in the tag division that I intend to unveil soon, but despite their teamwork, Sanders and Rayne's experience ( and popularity) makes the difference.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/QuentinQueen_zps48bc7227.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Raphael-1_zpsd0212d5a.jpg w\ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/RoxyKitten_zps79a35617.jpg

Quentin Queen VS Raphael w\ Roxy Kitten

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Raphael defeated Quentin Queen in 7:34 by pinfall with a Cupid's Arrow.

Match Rating D-

Raphael picks up the victory here to rebuild some momentum as he had come in with a couple of losses. Queen, as has become the norm so far, doesn't do anything to separate himself from the pack here.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ChrisFlynn_zpsa4597200.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/K-Squared_zps96317c60.jpg w\ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DharmaGregg_zps3f559269.jpg VS

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThimblebyLangton_zps2d5e4bcd.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/WootonFitzpaine_zpsb15ddcd0.jpg

Chris Flynn & Special K w\ Dharma Gregg VS Good Ol Boys

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Special K and Chris Flynn defeated Good Ole Boys in 11:38 when Chris Flynn defeated Wooton Fitzpaine by submission with a Flynn-Lock.

Match Rating D+

Part of why I brought in Kenny, aka Special K, was because I am planning on introducing tag titles soon and I needed another solid face team to throw into the mix. I thought he would pair well in terms of style with Chris Flynn as well as add another midcard level worker to throw into the Dharma-Roxy feud mix ( as Youngman is pretty much set in the main event now). So this match was to see if they had any problems working together. And while Dharma does have the American Cobras tag team in her stable, at this time they are basically a jobber tag team.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MountieMann_zps16a38f5d.jpg

Mountie Mann has a few words to say before his match

Mann: Steve Flash, you may have won the championship, but you aren't going to enjoy it for long because I see through you. You are a con man, plain and simple. You preach honor and respect, but I know you must have cheated somehow to steal that title, and as a proud member of the Mounties and the arbiter of the law in TPW, I am here to punish those who will flout the law! Justice is served cold here in the North and your sentence will be carried out when I reveal your crooked ways and take the Trademark title!

Rating D

Decent promo and heat given that Mann hasn't really had the opportunity to develop his character aside from acting heelish in the ring, and coming out in a mountie uniform.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/SteveFlash-1_zps0c9a684e.jpg

Trademark Champion Steve Flash replies to Mann.

Flash: Talking about cheating and deceit is fairly ironic Mann, given how corrupt you are. But I do my talking in the ring, and in the ring is where I teach others to show me the honor and respect I have earned in this industry over the last 25 years. This title on my shoulder is not just another championship belt, its a symbol to all those who would follow in my footsteps that doing things the right way, working hard, and having respect for your opponent and this industry leads to success. Mann, there are no shortcuts to that success, as you will learn tonight!

Again, Flash's strengths are in the ring, not on the mic. Which is probably one of the things that kept him from getting past regional level as I wouldn't want to see him try and struggle through a promo on TV.

Steve Flash © VS Mountie Mann for the TPW Trademark Championship

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Steve Flash defeated Mountie Mann in 11:38 by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Steve Flash makes defence number 1 of his Trademark Championship title.

Match Rating D-

To be honest, I wasn't expecting the roof to be blown off with this match, which is one of the reasons why it wasn't the main event. But Mann undoubtedly had his worst night in the ring that I have ever seen. I don't know if the nerves of being in a championship match got to him, but he was really off tonight, and not even Flash could smooth it out, making this a very pedestrian match.

'Trademark' Thomas Morgan is backstage

Morgan: Two weeks ago, in what was a one in a million fluke, Steve Flash managed to win my Trademark title. But rest assured Flash, just as soon as you face me in that ring again, I will get my belt back. But first I want to address the comments from the past few weeks of one Ernest Youngman. Youngman, there is no doubt that you are the fastest rising wrestler in the company, if not the industry as a whole. I believe you will have a wildly successful career, as long as you don't make the fatal error of thinking you can launch that career by using me as a stepping stone. I was your age once, possessed of the same skills, the same arrogant confidence in my abilities and that I could beat anyone. But this is where reality comes into the picture Youngman. You are good, one day you may even be great, but tonight, and for every night that I am still wrestling I...AM...BETTER...THAN...YOU!

Rating D

Decent promo building heat for what is going to be the main event tonight, and what the TPW website forums have frequently commented on the matchup they most want to see. While I don't make matches based on what the forums want, in this case, my plans aligned with what they wanted, so tonight they are going to get the first one on one match between Youngman and myself.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ErnestYoungman-1_zps91e00a51.jpg

Ernest Youngman is also backstage and has some comments about the upcoming match.

Youngman: Two weeks ago I made a cardinal mistake. I looked past my opponent that night, and that cost me the match. But I guarantee I won't make that mistake tonight. Because tonight I face the man who created this company, who was the first Trademark Champion and held that title for ten months against stiff competition. While I don't like the man, I respect and acknowledge the competitor and know that this will be the toughest test I have yet faced in my time in TPW. But I will triumph in that test. I will take that next step from being someone with potential to being someone who is proven. I will stake my own claim to contention for the championship by beating the man who until recently held and defined that championship! Tonight, Thomas Morgan, I will be better than you!

Rating D+

Good pop from the audience, which is the largest we have ever competed in front of, easily filling 80% of the 2000 seat Varsity Arena. The fans have really gotten behind Youngman over the past year and there is a lot of anticipation for the main event.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ErnestYoungman-1_zps91e00a51.jpg w\ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DharmaGregg_zps3f559269.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThomasMorgan_alt1.jpg

Ernest Youngman w\ Dharma Gregg VS 'Trademark' Thomas Morgan

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Ernest Youngman drew with Thomas Morgan in 20:00 when the time limit expired.

Match Rating C+

And this is why I went with Youngman and myself as the main event over Flash's first title defense. Even though I do believe the main title of the company should usually get top billing , there are occasional exceptions, tonight being one of them. There wasn't really any build or feud going between Mann and Flash, that was more of a routine title defense and positioning Mann as our #2 heel (which I am now wondering if he can live up to) while the first one on one confrontation between the fast rising young star Youngman and me, the man who had held the Trademark title for the first 10 months of the promotion's existence, was something of an event that was likely to generate a lot of buzz with our fans. The result was not wanting to answer the question of which one of us is better right now as I think there is potential to develop a long running rivalry between Youngman and me ( assuming one of the larger promotions and their exclusive contracts don't come calling). Also, this provides me a temporary solution in regards to Youngman being able to challenge for the title while Flash is the champion.

OVERALL RATING C-

The main event, which most forum comments I read the next day were calling the best in TPW history so far, clearly made this show as the rest of it was merely average, especially the disappointing title match. Still, as the saying in the industry goes, the only match the fans really remember is the last one, and that was good enough to make the wrestling websites rate this as another awesome event, and led to me getting several more regional area sponsors calling me over the next couple of days. In fact, the success of this show, and the several we have done previously, combined with the ability to fill ( well at least a good portion of) a 2000 seat arena has led to a lot of the Canadian wrestling industry websites to proclaim TPW now has a regional presence in Canada. With the increased sponsorship offers coming in, and our growing popularity, I think I am now in the position to start adding divisions to the company, starting with introduction of tag titles.

Wed Week 1 Dec 2013

During the Bi-weekly COTT owner's phone conference.

We had done even better than I expected last month. Not only in a successful string of shows getting us recognized as a regional promotion, but in also gathering increased sponsorship leading to over 29k in profits for November. With the company in such a strong financial position, and with the increased prestige, and size of our audiences, I felt that it was the appropiate time to introduce new titles to our company, specifically tag team titles. We already had 3 established teams, and I was creating a fourth, plus enough people on the roster now to throw together a few ad hoc teams without running the same matches over and over. But I wanted to have something big to usher in this new championship, and for that, I needed the cooperation of the other owners of the COTT.

So after the normal business (i.e monthly financial summary) was completed, but before the general war stories session started, I asked for the attention of the other owners present. Troy Winner of 4C, Sam Keith of MAW, Larry Vessey of NYCW, Cliff Anderson of CZCW and Joaquin Solar of OLLIE.

Morgan: I wanted to discuss an event that would involve some talent from most, if not all, of your promotions. Specifically, I am going to have a tag team tournament over two shows this month, and for one of them, I want your current tag team champions to take part. So, rather than spend time dealing with you all one on one, why don't we just take care of things right now.

Keith: Interesting idea, similiar to when I brought Steve Flash in to win the MAW Invitational in 2011.

Vessey: Please, don't mention that name. I am still upset he opened a promotion in my backyard right after he left NYCW.

Morgan: Alright, what I am proposing is trading talent for the teams if I have some people you want or who would benefit you, or paying into the alliance for them to make a special appearance if they don't. I'll start with Sam. How about I send you the Mid Atlantic Connection for your champions Syd Collier and Cameron Jones, the Dynamite Stars?

Keith: Sounds decent, but since you are going to be jobbing my champs out, and I had already let both Jenkins and McManus go , I need a little more.

Morgan: Ok, i'll add in Wes Revell. He's the type of talent that goes well with MAW and their product, and him getting more work won't hurt me.

Keith: Yeah, that works for me. I'll have my secretary fax over contract papers after the meeting.

Morgan: Ok, Larry, how about you next? You got Animal Harker and Tennessee Williams, the Southern Stars as your champs right? But the only guy on my roster who has worked in Tri-State before is Flash.

Vessey: Yeah, and I don't want him back. Plus, I really don't want the extra overhead of more workers right now. How about I just loan them to you and you pay their appearance fee and the alliance fee?

Morgan: No problem. Up next, Troy. You got Jason Thunder and Lightning Lomas as champions right now. That would be a big deal as they are a team known to my fans. I'll let you have Chris Flynn back for a show, along with his new partner Kenny, aka K-Squared. And to sweeten it, I'll let Cal Sanders and Quentin Queen work a date for you also. That sound good?

Winner: Yeah, the workers are fine, but I don't want my team losing to a pair of your jobbers. If they are going in, I want them facing your top team so it doesn't hurt them as much when they lose.

Morgan: Deal. I'll put them against the Good Ol Boys. They are my most over team and former regional level tag champs. Next, Cliff, while I would love your guys Jackpot Jordan and Jake Idol, I really only need 4 teams to come in as I have 4 teams of my own, and this presents an unique opportunity to work with Joaquin and OLLIE, who normally we wouldn't have much in common with, promotion style and worker wise. But I still have other business I want to do with you this month.

Anderson: That's fine with me Thomas. Saves me some money as well.

Morgan: Thanks for understanding Cliff. Now Joaquin, you have Gino and Luis Jr, the Monteros as your champions right now. Since we don't do a luchador style, I don't think I have any workers that would really appeal to you, so if you dont mind, I'd prefer to pay for them to make a special appearance.

Solar: Si, that is acceptable. Besides, it would do Gino good to get a taste of wrestling outside lucha rules, especially if he ever gets a yearning to work in Japan. Send me the paperwork .

And with that settled, the rest of the conference turned into more war stories, and Larry letting us in what his brother Bryan had told him about storyline plans in TCW and Sam mentioning that his other son Matt had also started touring in Japan, along with his commitments in the states.

After the meeting, I finalized the pairings for the first part of the tag tournament, and reflected, that even if the fans didn't know who 3 of the 4 tag teams were, the fact that they were promotion champions would still add some prestige to the tournament , and to whichever team win the titles.

Bradley Blaze & Joffy Laine VS Buzz Reid & Outlaw Wes Revell

In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat, Bradley Blaze and Joffy Laine defeated Buzz Reid and Outlaw Wes Revell in 7:57 when Bradley Blaze defeated Outlaw Wes Revell by pinfall with a Dallas Drop.

Match Rating E

That was fairly patheitc, even given that it was among lower card workers. Blaze and Laine really don't work well as a team and it made for a very disjointed match.

Team Dharma ( Chris Flynn & Special K ) w\ Dharma Gregg VS Los Monteros ( Gino Montero & Luis Montero Jr)

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Team Dharma defeated Los Monteros in 12:01 when Special K defeated Luis Montero Jr by pinfall with a Special K.

Match Rating D-

Even though the Mexican team isn't known in this area, most of the wrestling sites that I browsed through tab the Monteros' as a good team, especially Gino, who several sites tab as the next big thing in lucha wrestling. But I wasn't seeing that tonight, as Gino really looked off in the ring, and this match was below expectations. I was taking something of a risk with inviting all these other promotion tag champion teams so I hope this was an aberration, not a trend.

American Cobras ( Storm Spillane & Marvel Malloy) w\ Dharma Gregg VS Dynamite Express ( Syd Collier & Cameron Jones)

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, American Cobras defeated The Dynamite Express in 7:39 when Storm Spillane defeated Syd Collier by submission with a Kneeling Boston Crab.

Match Rating D

The American Cobras may be a jobber tag team, but they're MY jobber tag team. Seeing as I only had the other teams for one show, they get the victory here to advance on. Dharma actually has two teams in this tournament, and with both advancing, she has a 50% chance to have the tag titles in her stable.

Southern Stars ( Animal Harker & Tennessee Williams) VS The Atlantic Connection ( Curtis Jenkins & Riley McManus) w\Streetz

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, The Atlantic Connection defeated The Southern Stars in 8:23 when Curtis Jenkins defeated Animal Harker by pinfall with a Fisherman's Suplex.

Match Rating D-

While the novelty of having the tag champions from the other COTT promotions helped generate buzz, as evidenced by getting a couple hundred more fans in the seats, the matches aren't really following suit. Tennessee Williams seemed to lack some focus in the match.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/TPW/JasonThunder_zpsb6c2ed7b.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/TPW/LightningLomas_zpsd54800d8.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThimblebyLangton_zps2d5e4bcd.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/WootonFitzpaine_zpsb15ddcd0.jpg

Thunder & Lightning ( Jason Thunder & Lightning Lomas) VS Good Ole Boys ( Thimbleby Langton & Wooton Fitzpaine)

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Good Ole Boys defeated Thunder & Lightning in 12:29 when Wooton Fitzpaine defeated Lightning Lomas by pinfall with a Running Big Foot.

Match Rating D+

Unsurprisingly, Thunder & Lightning get the biggest pop from the crowd, since they are familiar with them as 4C runs shows in Ontario as well. And they turn in the best tag match of the first round, even with the Good Ole Boys as their opponents.

Roxy Kitten is backstage with her stable members Raphael and Irwin Gutmann

Roxy: So that harlot Dharma has two tag teams advancing to try and win the tag titles. But then, if the board of directors hadn't overlooked my team here for this tournament, then my clients would be advancing instead of hers. But I almost hope one of Dharma's teams does win the tag belts. Then it will feel even that much more satisfying when my boys take them! However, I am still annoyed at being overlooked though, and therefore I have taken steps to ensure the Roxy Syndicate is not overlooked in the future. In addition to the men you see behind me, let me introduce the new addition to my Syndicate, a young man who will be one of the biggest stars wrestling will ever see.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/GregGauge.jpg

Another man joins the group and Roxy continues.

Roxy: Greg Gauge, a young man with an impeccable pedigree and the man who, along with Raphael and Irwin Gutmann, will lead the Roxy Syndicate to the top of Trademark Pro Wrestling!

Rating E+

While Gauge may be the son of Sam Keith, he doesn't advertise it, so only hardcore fans here in Canada will know who he is, although his father, being a multi time CGC World Champion is still well known here, as he did that before his successes in TCW and SWF. And his addition helps even things up between Dharma and Roxy's stable. ( Well, Dharma does have the American Cobras, but they haven't really played that much of a part in the feud.)

Ben Williams, Quentin Queen & Josh Jones VS Raphael, Irwin Gutmann & Greg Gauge w\ Roxy Kitten

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Raphael, Greg Gauge and Irwin Gutmann defeated Ben Williams, Quentin Queen and Josh Jones in 12:12 when Raphael defeated Ben Williams by pinfall with a Cupid's Arrow.

Match Rating D+

The Roxy Syndicate and their newest recruit Gauge pick up an impressive win. Gauge was added to their group to provide more matchups with the Dharma group. And hopefully one of them can make the same move towards the main event that Youngman did, and provide a rival for him. Plus all three are good candidates to throw into the mix of the mid level singles belt I am thinking of introducing early in the new year.

Cal Sanders VS Mountie Mann

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Mountie Mann defeated Cal Sanders in 12:13 by submission with a Canadian Sleeper Hold.

Match Rating D

With Mann currently our #2 heel, he gets a victory over the main event gatekeeper Sanders.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/SteveFlash-1_zps0c9a684e.jpg

Steve Flash is backstage and addresses the upcoming match.

Flash: So tonight, not only do I face Thomas Morgan, the man who held this title for 10 months before I won it from him, but I also face one of the most talented and fastest rising stars of the next generation of wrestlers, Ernest Youngman. Either on their own would provide a formidable challenge, but together it will take every bit of skill and experience I have accumulated over the years to come out on top. But even though I may be getting a little older, I don't intend to just fade away. I intend to hold this title for as long as I can, regardless of who I compete against.

Rating E+

Another average promo from Flash.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThomasMorgan_alt1.jpg

'Trademark' Thomas Morgan also speaks about the upcoming title match.

Morgan: Despite the meddling of the Board of Directors, who placed Youngman in this match despite him not beating me last month, I will overcome the odds and take back my championship! Flash, Youngman, or whoever else gets in my way, I will go through you all to get back the title because I...AM...BETTER...THAN...YOU!

Rating D+

I continue to get a lot of heel heat from the crowd for my promos.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ErnestYoungman-1_zps91e00a51.jpg

Finally Ernest Youngman has something to say about the title match.

Youngman: While I didn't beat Morgan last month, I did fight him to a draw, which means I have taken one more step towards proving myself. But that final step necessary to being proven is holding a championship. And I can think of no better way to prove myself than by winning the title and doing it by beating Flash and Morgan at the same time.

Rating D

Youngman cuts a decent promo as well to hype the main event.

Steve Flash © VS 'Trademark' Thomas Morgan VS Ernest Youngman in a Triple Threat match for the Trademark Championship

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Steve Flash defeated Thomas Morgan and Ernest Youngman in 23:05 when Steve Flash defeated Thomas Morgan by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Steve Flash makes defence number 2 of his Trademark Championship title.

Match Rating C+

Another incredible match and main event delivers on what had been an average show so far. This match easily ranks up with the match I had with Youngman last show as the two best matches of the year in TPW. I took the pinfall to maintain Youngman's credibility as a viable challenger. Skill wise, I would have no problem with Youngman being champion right now, but I still think he needs to get a little more support and overness with the fans before making that move.

Not to mention the fact that with our increased audience, and greater financial resources, I have been able to garner some interest from wrestlers who only a couple of months ago probably have given me the time of day, and that may end up changing the main event picture.

OVERALL SHOW C-

Once again, the main event saved the show and has the fans leaving on a high note. While the tag matches themselves were fairly ordinary, we did set the stage for the final rounds next show and the introduction of the TPW Tag Titles.

Week 3 December 2013

Getting ready for the last show of our first year in business, and it was far more successful than I ever imagined it would be. The show would already see the crowning of the initial TPW Tag Team Champions, but I wanted to see if something else could be done to add even more of a splash to the year end. As I had been keeping a tab on talent released recently from some more well known promotions, I saw a few names that would create a stir if they came to TPW. Most wouldn't give me more than a cursory, 'Not interested in your promotion at this time' but a couple were willing to consider it, and I was able to hammer out a contract with one of them.

He would be making his debut at the show. In addition, I worked out a tradr deal with CZCW to bring Malili Umaga back for a few appearances and did a loan from 4C for Jacob Jett, so there would be even more buzz for this show.

Prediction Guide

Tag Tournament finals

Team Dharma VS Good Ole Boys

American Cobras VS The Atlantic Connection

New Tag Champions:

Ernest Youngman & Rayne Man VS Mountie Mann & Greg Gauge

Jacob Jett VS Thomas Morgan

Your photobucket appears to have haemorrhaged. :/

I've seen it mentioned a couple of other places that photobucket is being finicky for some reason -- I'm seeing holes too. I don't know if it's just some users or an across the board thing.

I'm not even see holes. I see nothing. Literally.

Weird. On the computer I posted it on, I see all the pictures fine, but on my other computer, I see the blanks on a lot of the pictures.

I moved a lot of the images to a new album, I wonder if that is the cause.

I saw about 1 out of 4 of the pictures. Said the user had deleted the image.

Also, you mentioned up during the Greg Gauge intro that the American Cobras were managed by Roxy. I think you meant Dharma.

Team Dharma VS Good Ole Boys

- Put it this way, if not for having Thunder and Lightning for only one show, the Good Ole Boys would have become the Good Ole Jobbos.

American Cobras VS The Atlantic Connection

- The Cobras after all are *YOUR* jobbing team.

New Tag Champions: The Atlantic Connection are your best established team. They deserve to initial run while Dharma and Roxy continue their feud without gold (or is it silver) for now.

Ernest Youngman & Rayne Man VS Mountie Mann & Greg Gauge

- A slight upset perhaps but Rayne can take the fall, Mann remains the #2 heel and Gauge establishes himself in the role I'd have given him from the outset. The heel gatekeeper to the main event. He's that good and in order to get to the top you have to go through him. Plus, it opens up some challengers for Flash.

Jacob Jett VS Thomas Morgan

- Because otherwise the fans will realize anyone who visits via trade = instajobber.

Steve Flash© VS Malili Umaga for the TPW Trademark Championship

- I would be tempted to hotshot it to Malili for his run, but Steve continues to deliver in the ring and deserves a decent run on top. Flash likely drops the title to the microphone, because lords after 25 years in the game you'd think he could cut a barely adequate promo... but no.

That would change their URL in some cases, so it could well be because of that.

Edit: Also sometimes PB doesn't 'refresh' for a while - as in, the old image shows even though it's been changed/updated so it could be that on your own machine.

Whats weird is my main computer still shows all the images, even after a reboot and deletion of internet cache. So I have no clue whats going on with the images. But fortunately, while annoying, it doesn't really hamper the story since pictures aren't central to the diary.

And for any other readers, predictions sheet is on previous page.

I can see most of the pictures on my own computer, only Williams and Revell doesn´t show. When I tried to read this one at my work I didn´t see pictures for most of the visiting guys either so maybe it depends about browser or it´s version? Anyway back to picks.

Tag Tournament finals

Team Dharma VS Good Ole Boys

I´m picking Team Dharma sinply because I have Atlantic Connection advancing on other match.

American Cobras VS The Atlantic Connection

I just don´t see jobber team getting into finals.

New Tag Champions: The Atlantic Connection

Team Dharma doesn´t have enough tag experience to really be considered as tag champs so I go with Connection.

Ernest Youngman & Rayne Man VS Mountie Mann & Greg Gauge

I think that heels need this win more and it would help Roxy getting little bit payback against Dharma since her clients have been more on the losing end so far.

Jacob Jett VS Thomas Morgan

While I agree with Beeker that visiting guys need to get a win somewhere soon I don´t think that this one will be that match. My reasoning is that Morgan is building his own legacy and while it´s ok to lose at times, I think that he would rather lose to someone who is on regular roster (so that the win would mean more) than against a guy who might never be back.

Steve Flash© VS Malili Umaga for the TPW Trademark Championship

Visiting guys doesn´t win titles unless you actually plan to sign them and use the title change as storyline reason for the signing. I don´t see that happening this time though as Flash still has short reign.

Tag Tournament finals

Team Dharma VS Good Ole Boys

Team Dharma will get the titles to set up a feud with Roxy's stable.

American Cobras VS The Atlantic Connection

No way your jobber team advances to the finale.

New Tag Champions: Team Dharma

Ernest Youngman & Rayne Man VS Mountie Mann & Greg Gauge

I can see a cheap win by Gauge over Youngman to set up for another feud there.

Jacob Jett VS Thomas Morgan

After losing cleanly twice in a row, Morgan is going to pick up a victory again.

Steve Flash© VS Malili Umaga for the TPW Trademark Championship

I'm not a big fan of putting a debutant in a title match right away. That being said, he is probably one of your most over workers, so it should make for a good main event.

Malili Umaga isn't a new signing, he's actually on an extended appearances deal. And the reason he is getting a program with Flash right off is that Umaga (aka Akima Brave) is currently the NYCW Empire Champion in my game and thus its a battle of current vs former Empire Champions, to prove who is the better one. All of which gets explained during their hype promos at the event , and on the fictional ( but oh so very real in my mind ;) ) TPW website.

TPW TAG WARS FINALE

Held at Varsity Arena, Ontario Canada

Saturday Week 4 Dec 2013 Att: 1817

PRE SHOW

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/CalSanders_zps5b57db41.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Raphael-1_zpsd0212d5a.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/QuentinQueen_zps48bc7227.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/IrwinGutmann_zpsf44983fc.jpg

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Cal Sanders won a battle royal in 10:25. The other members of the 'final four' were Raphael, Quentin Queen and Irwin Gutmann, with Raphael being the final elimination. Irwin Gutmann got the most eliminations over the course of the match.

Match Rating D+

Training bout for those who weren't on the main program tonight. Seeing as how we are the only company most of the wrestlers work for, I like to make sure they have some work at every show, even if its just warmups. Plus, this lets the guys on the lower card perform in front of some crowd, but without as much stress, since the audience doesn't have the same level of expectation here they do for main show matches.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThomasMorgan_alt1.jpg

Thomas Morgan comes down to the ring before the main show begins.

Morgan: As the owner, and star of Trademark Pro Wrestling, I am committed to bringing all of you the best wrestling and the best talent available. So tonight, in addition to the crowning of the inaugural tag team champions, I also have a special surprise for later tonight as the newest member of Trademark Pro Wrestling will make his debut and I guarantee that this is indeed a big name in the wrestling industry. When you see the calibur of talent that I am now able to bring to my promotion, the fastest rising one in wrestling, once again you will see the basic fact that I...AM...BETTER...THAN...YOU!

Morgan leaves to a mix of boos and audience speculation about who the newest addition will be.

Rating D-

Ok, if not stellar, audience reaction. I think the conflicting tones of cheering a new big name, versus booing me, confused the crowd somewhat.

MAIN SHOW

Team Dharma ( Chris Flynn & Special K ) w\ Dharma Gregg VS Good Ol Boys ( Thimbleby Langton & Wooton Fitzpaine)

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Team Dharma drew with Good Ole Boys in 15:00 when the time limit expired.

Match Rating D+

The finals start off on a good note. This match went to a draw for two reasons. One, with no one really expecting the Cobras to advance, I did want to add some mystery to the final match, plus as I was working up the show, as this was at the beginning of my planning, I was still going back and forth over who would get the belts first as all the teams but the Cobras ( for now at least) had a good case for being champions.

American Cobras ( Marvel Malloy & Storm Spillane ) w\ Dharma Gregg VS The Atlantic Connection ( Curtis Jenkins & Riley McManus ) W\ Streetz

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, The Atlantic Connection defeated American Cobras in 7:31 when Curtis Jenkins defeated Marvel Malloy by pinfall with a Fisherman's Suplex.

Match Rating D-

No real surprise here. Even with the minor swerve of the draw in the previous semifinal, no one really thought that the Cobras were going to advance. They are a decent team and they are slowly building their rapport together, but both are still likely to be the enhancement tag team for awhile more. On the other side, Atlantic Connection is a solid team with several years together, and that is valuable to me now, but McManus is clearly the better of the two, and as he improves, I will have to consider using him in singles competition down the road.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/TexasPete_alt1_zps1f67fdcc.jpg

A video montage plays of a big ole hoss clubbing people down, throwing them around, clotheslining people with lariats, and finally delivering the coup de grace with a well known backdrop finisher called the Lone Star Drop. As the final picture freeze frames around the face of this big hoss wearing a black stetson, the caption flashes on the screen, TEXAS PETE HAS COME TO TPW!

And then some smoke appears at the entrance way and out of it walks the big man himself, Texas Pete!

Rating D+

At first glance this would appear to be a strange signing as Pete wouldn't seem to be the best fit for our style of wrestling. Especially since he barely knows a toehold from a headlock, basically being a puncher and brawler. But he has good basics, decent grasp of psychology and good stamina, especially for a big man. Plus he has tons of menace. He needs someone that can accentuate his strengths to really deliver in the ring, as he can't really carry someone else, and for that reason alone I don't know if I would have him be a long term title holder, but he does bring one undeniable thing to my company. That is star power. Whatever his actual performance skills, he was still someone who was on TV regularly for SWF and TCW for most of the last decade, which makes him easily the most recognizable name to even the common fan on our roster. The fact that someone as well known as he is signed on to TPW gives us a serious air of legitimacy as a promotion.

Josh Jones VS Texas Pete

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Texas Pete defeated Josh Jones in 8:20 by pinfall with a Lone Star Drop.

Match Rating D-

While not a squash, it was the next thing closest to it, as Jones only had some ineffective offense. While there is no denying that Pete immediately takes a place as a main eventer, I am not about to put him into the title hunt right away. While he is actually a swell guy backstage, and everyone likes him, he did spend several years floundering in TCW's midcard, so I want to see him against a variety of my roster and get a real feel for what I can expect from him in the ring.

Ernest Youngman & Rayne Man VS Mountie Mann & Greg Gauge

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Rayne Man and Ernest Youngman defeated Mountie Mann and Greg Gauge in 11:41 when Ernest Youngman defeated Greg Gauge by pinfall.

Match Rating D+

Good, solid match. Youngman and Rayne Man get the win here as one recently competed for the belt, and both are still contenders. On the other side, Mann may be the #2 heel ( as least before Pete arrived) but Gauge is still relatively unknown in this area, outside of those fans who watch Japanese wrestling. While I hope, and expect eventually, for Gauge to rise up like Youngman did, right now he's still pretty much a midcard level performer.

Team Dharma w\ Dharma Gregg VS Good Ol Boys VS The Atlantic Connection w\ Streetz for the TPW Tag Team Championship

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Team Dharma defeated Good Ole Boys and The Atlantic Connection in 11:53; the order of elimination was The Atlantic Connection first, and then Good Ole Boys. Team Dharma win the TPW Tag Team Championship titles.

Match Rating D+

Really, I could have gone with any of these teams as legitimate champions. The Good Ol Boys are the most experienced team, having been together 8 years, and having held regional gold before. Atlantic Connection is probably a little better in the ring and have also had several years together, while Team Dharma probably has the best known performers in this area, and have a part in one of our current feuds, despite being a new team. But what it really came down to was I have far more options on heel side to challenge and chase, beginning with two established teams, and pairings of solid heel performers. Where on the face side, I have Team Dharma, and lesser options like Laine, Jones and Queen who haven't impressed in the past year. So, since I can get stronger matchups right now with Team Dharma as champs, they win the belts.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JacobJett_zpse003d18f.jpg

3 time 4C Champion Jacob Jett comes out to the ring, much to the delight of the crowd.

Jett: Now I bet you are all wondering what 'The Amazing' Jacob Jett is doing standing in a TPW ring. No, I didn't join 4C's competition, as much as they would love to have me. But I did petition the TPW Board of Directors to appear here tonight to defend the honor of my company, a company I have been champion of three times so far. I came to challenge that loudmouth braggart owner of TPW, Thomas Morgan who claims he is better than anyone else. Now, I will admit that you did beat Frankie Dee, but then again, I beat the guy all the time, so that doesn't prove anything. So Morgan, you think you are better than anyone? Come on down and try the Amazing One on for size! I guarantee you ain't no better than me!

Rating C

Jett is hugely popular in Ontario, and is easily among 4C's top stars. If NOTBPW hadn't gotten rid of it's Unlimited Action division, they probably would have snapped Jett up by now. So it's no surprise that he has received what is probably the largest cheer from the audience that anyone has gotten in TPW's history so far.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ThomasMorgan_alt1.jpg

'Trademark'Thomas Morgan appears in the entrance way with a microphone

Morgan: Jett, there is no doubt you are 'Amazing'. I'll be the first to admit you have skills, and when you were given an opportunity, you made the most of it. But, you see, that's where I have the problem. When you first broke into this business almost ten years ago, you were given an opportunity to become a star by 4C. But when you got picked for the opportunity, it means they, like everyone else, overlooked me, and denied me the opportunity you were handed and quite frankly didn't deserve at that time. So tonight, I am glad you came to challenge me. I am glad that you and your promotion's pride was wounded at my hands. Since they wouldn't give me the same opportunity they handed you on a silver platter, I have gone on to create my own opportunity, to come out here night after night and utter these words with truth and conviction. And when you leave here tonight in defeat, your ears will be ringing with these words. I...AM...BETTER...THAN...YOU!

Rating D+

While not nearly the pop that Jett got from the audience, I did step it up a little to generate some more heat from the crowd than usual.

'Amazing' Jacob Jett VS 'Trademark' Thomas Morgan

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Thomas Morgan defeated Jacob Jett in 14:53 by submission with a STF.

Match Rating C

Fast paced, with a lot of back and forth between Jett trying to take to the air, and me trying to ground him. The crowd were really into it all the way to the end when Jett missed one of his top rope dives, leaving him open for the STF in the middle of the ring. Looking at it afterwards, I'd easily rank this in the top ten matches in TPW for the year.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/AkimaBrave_zpsc96ea7c4.jpg

Malili Umaga comes down to the ring holding a gold belt over his shoulder.

Umaga: For those of you that have been living under a rock or out in the tundra, let me introduce myself. I am Malili Umaga, THE NYCW Empire Champion. In fact, I have held this belt for prety much the entire year, defeating person after person for this belt. Yet, despite being a dominant champion for so long, all I ever hear about is this broken down fossil NYCW kicked to the curb earlier this year, Steve Flash. Everywhere I go, people are saying that Steve Flash was the greatest NYCW Empire Champion ever and I am sick of it! So I came here to this backwater country to seek out this ancient relic and have it out mano y mano to prove that I, not Flash, am the greatest NYCW Empire Champion of all time! And I will prove it by not only beating you in the ring, but by taking your title too! So get on out here Flash!

Rating D

Umaga got a lot of boos from the audience for his promo as well, effectively establishing him as a heel.

Steve Flash © VS Malili Umaga for the TPW Trademark Championship

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Steve Flash defeated Malili Umaga in 25:06 by count out. Steve Flash makes defence number 3 of his Trademark Championship title.

Match Rating D

That was a bit of a downer, which was partly my fault. I had actually wanted Umaga to get the countout win, but apparently I screwed up in my notes to Alysian Scotsfield and Rob Perkins, and as I had just wrestled before, I had no way to check them last minute. So instead the opposite got communicated, which made Flash look weaker in the victory. Also, Flash was starting to tire out near the end, and the crowd really voiced their displeasure at the ending.

Umaga had done well with me when I faced him a few months ago, so I was really expecting better than this to finish the night.

Overall Rating D+

The debut of Texas Pete, and the pop from the appearance of Jacob Jett was overshadowed somewhat by the main event, but even though it was a notch below the last few events, it was still a good show overall that garnered us some positive buzz and more hits on our company website.

* Once again I need to thank ReapeR for the truly awesome tag belt he created.

Yeah, I completely missed you had him compete already on a past show. My point remains the same, though. :p;)

Good show, by the way. Interested to see how you use Texas Pete.
