THE WAR TO END IT ALL

Saturday, week 3, September 2001

SMCW Arena, Woodfin, North Carolina

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQqHdgxPkaD1gmOwripqotF8hRpyCGf6OXLvYT3So8Kw1veCKcEKA

Bobby Roode v Doug Williams

A decent opening affair between the two lowest ranked wrestlers on the PSW roster. Even though Roode and Williams are on the lower rungs of the ladder, the pair put on a competitive match which concluded in 9:25 when Roode took the spoils by pinfall with a Roode Awakening. D

Austin Aries v CM Punk

Another decent contest with some really exciting spots in the match. Despite Aries being much smaller than most other competitors, he is able to cause a lot of trouble for his opponents with his versatile, high paced style of wrestling. Punk however is beginning to turn the corner in PSW and chalking up a couple of wins, with this one coming in 11:49 by submission with an Arm Triangle Choke. D

Drew McIntyre v Samoa Joe

While Punk is rising, McIntyre is falling. After his stunning couple of upsets in the Championship tournament, the young Scot has lost every match since. In this one, one of his earlier victims got their revenge as Joe took McIntyre apart in 12:40 by pinfall with an Avalanche Island Driver. The match lifted the crowd. D+

Caprice Coleman v Claudio Castagnoli

This match also lifted the crowd. As the crowd were getting hotter, the action was decent. Coleman just came up short in his quest for the championship last month at Choice of the New Generation and his victory in 16:17 by pinfall will move him back into contention again for another title opportunity. D-

Potter hypes the upcoming match between AJ Styles, Amazing Red and 'Cowboy' James Storm setting the scene for the three way championship main event. E

PSW SOUTH EASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP

AJ Styles (champion) v Amazing Red v ‘Cowboy’ James Storm

In front of a good crowd and a triple threat match that featured some decent action although a lack of flow was noticeable and the match dragged a little in the middle. AJ looked really good in the match. Red and Cowboy scored some near falls to almost clinch the title, it was AJ Styles who kept his championship in 25:43 when he defeated 'Cowboy' James Storm by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 2 of his PSW South Eastern title. The crowd go home happy. D+

PSW has gained popularity in the South East.

Prediction Competition

Predictions were similar from all, and the difference maker turned out to be Roode beating Williams...

1. Michgcs 5

2. Everybody else 4 :D

Well done to Mich, Olympia was the only other one to predict Roode but he got Aries v Punk wrong. Mich, your prize is to select a match for a future show with stipulations/special match type if you like, plus the monthly prize of a person for me to profile.

News

The US military have begun Operation Enduring Freedom in response to the 9/11 attacks. The mission is to eliminate the Al-Qaeda safe haven in Afghanistan.

‘Cowboy’ James Storm has suffered a sprained knee the night before PSW’s next show. He will be out for around four weeks and will therefore miss Crowning Glory I.

CROWNING GLORY I

Saturday, week 3, October 2001

Jamil Shrine Temple, Columbia, South Carolina

NO SUITABLE IMAGE AVAILABLE ON GOOGLE

Austin Aries v Doug Williams

A solid bout if somewhat awkward at times. The PSW record crowd was dead as the action started, but the decent wrestling on show in the ring did lift them. Williams is the only member of the PSW roster yet to win, and he kept this unwanted record as he succumbed to Aries in 9:12 by pinfall with a 450 Splash. E+

Claudio Castagnoli v Drew McIntyre

After a hugely impressive start to his PSW career, McIntyre is now officially in free fall. After winning his opening two matches, he has now lost his following four. It wasn’t for the want of trying, but Castagnoli proved the better man, certainly on this night, as he emerged with the triumph in 11:01 by submission. D

Bobby Roode v CM Punk

While Williams and McIntyre are struggling, Punk is beginning to get into his groove in PSW. Roode was a late replacement opponent, substituting for the injured ‘Cowboy’ James Storm, but it did not deter Punk. In another solid match, albeit in front of a dead crowd, Punk prevailed in 11:48 by submission with an Arm Triangle Choke. D

Amazing Red v Samoa Joe

A lack of flow to the match took away from the drama of it, but it was still decent enough. Joe had a clear size and strength advantage, but Red pulled it off in what some might consider a surprise win. He put Joe away in 16:20 by pinfall. D-

PSW SOUTH EASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP

AJ Styles (champion) v Caprice Coleman

Even though there was a lack of psychology on show and hence the match drifted a little, it was high on quality and suspense, with Styles looking like retaining at times and Coleman looking like becoming champion at others. The crowd were into the action as the bought ebbed back and forth. After over twenty minutes, Styles had himself in position to take the match and he duly did so, maintaining the only perfect record in PSW in the process. The conclusion came in 20:56 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 3 of his PSW South Eastern title. C

Show rating: C-

The show increased PSW’s popularity in the South East

Attendance: 33 (new PSW record)

Loss: $3900

Crowning Glory I is PSW’s best show to date.

AJ Styles v Caprice Coleman is PSW’s second best ever match.

Claudio Castagnoli v Drew McIntyre is PSW’s ninth best ever match.

PREDICTION COMPETITION

The card had to change with the injury to 'Cowboy' James Storm, so Roode replaced Storm in the Punk match and the three way became a two way without Roode, hence making Tiebreaker 1 redundant.

1. TFC 4 (wins on Tiebreaker 3)

2. Kijar 4

3. BHK 3

4. Michgcs 1

Well done to TFC, your prize is to create a company, giving me all the details please. Yourself and Kijar both get to choose a person to profile.

I've already written the January 2002 show in the game, so will try to get Kings of Wrestling on the February show. I'll need to sign Chris Hero...
