ON THE EDGE

Saturday, week 3, November 2001

Bourbon Street Night Club, New Port Richey, Florida

http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQzZaFiCQsLMvTNgm37G-vPI672_QAreKgCbAx4YbuqQMb3QqgB

Bobby Roode v Doug Williams

With the usual dead crowd at the start of a PSW show, they were woken up by the usual decent opening match, such is the depth of the PSW roster. What was unusual in PSW’s young history was that Doug Williams chalked up his first victory at the seventh attempt, and the relief on his face at getting that monkey off his back was clear to see. It came in 7:06 by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. D

Austin Aries v Drew McIntyre

Unlike his fellow Brit, McIntyre was unable to stop the rot he is currently in. He is a shadow of the very impressive McIntyre that competed in the Championship Tournament. Aries got the better of the Scotsman in 10:12 by pinfall with a Brainbuster. D-

Claudio Castagnoli v Nigel McGuinness v Samoa Joe

The first of two three way matches and despite some good action, it fell a little flat on the crowd. As usual with three ways, there were spells where one wrestler was out of the ring while the other two fought, and spells of double teaming, as well as many pinfall and submission attempts that were broken up. The one that wasn’t came in 14:10 when Claudio Castagnoli defeated Nigel McGuinness by submission. D

Caprice Coleman v CM Punk v ‘Cowboy’ James Storm

The second of the three ways is likely to determine the next challenger for the South Eastern Championship and was somewhat disappointing given the standard we’ve come to expect in PSW. Also, Coleman was substandard and yet despite this, he was able to come away with the win in 19:16 when he defeated 'Cowboy' James Storm by pinfall. D-

PSW SOUTH EASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP

AJ Styles (champion) v Amazing Red

Red’s first one on one shot at AJ’s championship. He fought with passion and desire, but that wasn’t enough against a focused AJ who is standing head and shoulders above everybody else in PSW thus far and extends his winning streak to seven. He successful defended, putting Red away in 21:52 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 4 of his PSW South Eastern title. C

Show rating: C-

PSW’s popularity has increased in the South East

Attendance: 32

Loss: $4340

On The Edge was PSW’s best ever show and drew PSW’s second biggest crowd.

AJ Styles v Amazing Red was PSW’s second best ever match.

Claudio Castagnoli v Nigel McGuinness v Samoa Joe was PSW’s ninth best ever match.

CODE OF HONOUR

Saturday, week 3, December 2001

FCW Arena, Tampa, Florida

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ5QQ-4sJT00W5PdAMvGQawQhN2AInqRhj6exSI5CGBn3n7LTmN

Drew McIntyre v Doug Williams v Bobby Roode

The usual good opening match up in front of a dead crowd. There were two differences here though. First, there were three men in the match and second, McIntyre stopped his losing run. He finally looked more like the wrestler that competed so well in the Championship Tournament and took the spoils here in 11:30 when Drew McIntyre defeated Bobby Roode by submission. D

’Cowboy’ James Storm v Nigel McGuinness

A second decent bout that lifted the crowd. McGuinness had been absent from PSW for some time, having been on tour in Japan, much how Joe is currently. It seems the Japanese competition has done him good as he disposed of the Cowboy without too much trouble in 11:35 by pinfall with a Guvnors Crumpet. D

CM Punk v Austin Aries

The action doesn’t let up as the standard is maintained the crowd continue to become more vocal as they are encouraged by what they are witnessing in the ring. This was a very good technical affair with Punk coming out on top in 14:39 by submission with an Arm Triangle Choke. Punk is making his way up the rankings… D

Amazing Red v Claudio Castagnoli

Consistency has certainly been the watchword of the night as this is the fourth match out of four to get the same retain. It was a keenly contested affair with speed overcoming the pound for pound power on this occasion, Red getting the win and possibly another title shot in 16:27 by pinfall. D

PSW SOUTH EASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP

AJ Styles (champion) v Caprice Coleman

PSW’s best and most consistent performer makes it eight from eight in another stand out match. It may still be the first year of PSW but as yet there is nobody who looks like they are able to dethrone the only champion in the company’s history. AJ’s latest win came in 22:53 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number 5 of his PSW South Eastern title. C

Show rating: C-

PSW have increased popularity in the South East.

Attendance: 33

Loss: $4130

Code of Honour is PSW’s best ever show and equalled the company’s highest attendance record.

AJ Styles v Caprice Coleman is PSW’s best ever match, in fact the top three matches are Styles v Coleman.
