Blazing Flames (Joey & Teddy Flame) vs. Joshuya & Ota (Super Joshuya & Fumihiro Ota)

Much like the Demons opening the show last week, the Flames are legends. It takes a lot to beat a legend, and certainly not an ad hoc team of youngsters. I know you've teased the possibility of the Flames breaking up, but not against these two.

Ashley Amazon w/ Dream Girl vs. Miss Mexico

The women's division has an interesting hurdle to overcome: no real stars. To this end, I suspect that you don't saddle one of the first winners with a loss here.

As for Miss Mexico... I am used to lucha getting little consideration in American wrestling. Given Mucha Lucha's relative success thus far, the implication that luchadors will be challenging heavily for the cruiserweight belt, and Los Angeles' large Mexican population, I am not sure this is true here. Still, I am not sure Miss Mexico herself has the talent or the draw to be a contender. In any event, she does not have a manager, which further tips the scale toward the assumption that you have a little more in mind for Amazon.

Jimmy Power vs. Whistler

I haven't played THAT much '97. Love the mod, just never got heavily into a game with it. So I'm mostly familiar with Jimmy Power from 1977 (great) and Whistler from 2007-13 (...less great.)

Romeo Heartthrob vs. Sam Strong (non-title)

Sam Strong, Cruiserweight Ch... aw, no, non-title. Damn it.

The Tag Team Specialists (Joel Bryant & Robert Oxford) vs. Jason Jackson & Ramon Paez

I just remembered who Jason Jackson was -- from AJCrible's '77 Texas diary. I miss that one. Anyway, I am pretty sure the Tag Team Specialists are Jobbing Specialists at this point.

#1 Contendership

Demons of Rage (Demon Spite & Demon Anger) vs. Nation of Filth (Grunt & Stink) vs. Spirit Warriors (Dark EAGLE & Golden Fox)

Not seeing anything here to make me think the Demons have a chance to lose.

The Vessey Brothers (Bryan Vessey & Larry Vessey) w/ Coach Dick Pangrazzio vs. Charlie Homicide & Peter Valentine w/ Charlie Thatcher & Karen Killer

Peter Valentine is Peter Valentine, and Charlie Homicide is not Rip Chord. Real tag team takes it.

By the way, just to confirm, the Dangerous Family is nowhere to be seen in this game world? Obviously they're not in TCW or DAVE, but also not even running a minor Philadelphia promotion, or participating in

(I HAVE created the Danger Zone, and I like to think that in this timeline, Horatio manages a quieter retirement. Adrian doesn't have focus, but he has flash and flair; he'll try to become an actor. Richard and Kate probably take their father's teaching, turn it legit, and go into MMA. Maggie remains a teacher, and worries more about her son and daughter than if they were wrestling.)

I...

Man, I miss that family, and my housemate periodically asks me what Horatio thinks of X (real world, C-Verse or Thunderverse) or what he's doing by the present day, et al, and I can tell him. I know those guys inside out.

And that's why they're not here. I can't give them a better story than AQR nor a better sendoff than Maggie's epilogue to it. And I don't want to drag them out of that.

We've seen the last of the Dangerous family.

Well.

Maybe something when WreSpi3 hits.

Blazing Flames (Joey & Teddy Flame) vs. Joshuya & Ota (Super Joshuya & Fumihiro Ota)

Ota is one of my favorites guys in C-Verse so I hope he does well. That said he and Joshuya are pretty unlikely to go over established team like Blazing Flames.

Ashley Amazon w/ Dream Girl vs. Miss Mexico

Pretty much a coin flip.

Jimmy Power vs. Whistler

Another one where I don´t have much idea. I doubt Whistler is much more than a jobber at this point though so I go with Power.

Romeo Heartthrob vs. Sam Strong (non-title)

Strong isn´t losing to anyone who isn´t top guy.

The Tag Team Specialists (Joel Bryant & Robert Oxford) vs. Jason Jackson & Ramon Paez

Little bit unsure about this as I figure that Jackson is higher on the ladders than Specialists but I go with real team over random pairing.

#1 Contendership

Demons of Rage (Demon Spite & Demon Anger) vs. Nation of Filth (Grunt & Stink) vs. Spirit Warriors (Dark EAGLE & Golden Fox)

Demons are the most established team from these three.

The Vessey Brothers (Bryan Vessey & Larry Vessey) w/ Coach Dick Pangrazzio vs. Charlie Homicide & Peter Valentine w/ Charlie Thatcher & Karen Killer

Tag champs don´t lose to random pairing espesially since that pairing includes Valentine.

Thomas Morgan settles back in a chair by the side of what is recognisable from documentary DVDs as the SWF HQ gym. He takes a thoughtful pull at a sports drink, then nods. “Right,” he says. “So, Tommy Cornell coming to DaVE...

“I hadn't been with DaVE too long myself then, bear in mind. Phil Vibert had taken a chance on me, I guess someone had passed around a tape or something and because he was pushing Eric and Jeff, he wanted someone who could go hold for hold with them and take a lot of losses.

“He gave me a series against Eric first, which got sort of truncated and then sort of mutated when Tommy came in. And it was a lot like...

“Our tapes are harder to find, because DaVE's distribution network before about 1999 was the s***s, but it was basically the same as when Art Reed and Acid had their series, only we didn't catch Japanese eyes.

“We worked DaVE doing that, and we worked a bunch of indy shows all over North America doing it when word got around, and we worked it again in CGC in, what, 2000? I think it was then. You're on YouTube, the Internet will know, look it up.

“But it got people talking about me, and I do kind of wonder – I heard a rumour that before Tommy became available, Phil had been planning to go real hardcore. And if he'd done that, then we're looking at my career going into the toilet, trying to find some work somewhere...

“Tommy and Eric and JD and Eddie was enough to convince Phil he could open things up a bit. DaVE was still pretty hardcore, but the other side of it – the side people didn't talk about much back then – got more attention when Tommy came in, and that meant my demo tape got good and fat with some great matches and I got to learn promos from Eric f**king Tyler.

“I mean, without them I reckon I'd still be working indies. As it was, I coasted on that series until the real big leagues came calling, and with the SWF not believing in exclusivity at the time, I remain the only guy to simultaneously hold the CGC and SWF world titles. And sure, I held them both together for, like, twenty-three hours. And the SWF reign didn't last much longer than that total.

“But still... man, Tommy Cornell coming to DaVE is what really made me a Trademark, you know?” He grins. “No criticism given to Mr Eisen – or Gorgeous George, for that matter. But that was what built me up.”

Nice to see others believing the fact that THE...TRADEMARK...IS...BETTER...THAN....THEM...ALL!! :D:p

Blazing Flames (Joey & Teddy Flame) vs. Joshuya & Ota (Super Joshuya & Fumihiro Ota)

Could be wrong. Maybe you want a losing streak as the reason for the hinted Flames split-up. But even then it's unlikely to start here.

Ashley Amazon w/ Dream Girl vs. Miss Mexico

Seems to be some story building for ms Amazon, which means she goes over the not-very-good luchadora.

Jimmy Power vs. Whistler

Trying to get into Sam Strong booking headspace: he's not gonna have an old-time hero lose to an upstart, even if it's a PATRIOTIC upstart...

Romeo Heartthrob vs. Sam Strong (non-title)

Yeah, right...

The Tag Team Specialists (Joel Bryant & Robert Oxford) vs. Jason Jackson & Ramon Paez

As noted before, Tag Team Specialists exsist to be good at jobbing.

#1 Contendership

Demons of Rage (Demon Spite & Demon Anger) vs. Nation of Filth (Grunt & Stink) vs. Spirit Warriors (Dark EAGLE & Golden Fox)

By far the biggest names.

The Vessey Brothers (Bryan Vessey & Larry Vessey) w/ Coach Dick Pangrazzio vs. Charlie Homicide & Peter Valentine w/ Charlie Thatcher & Karen Killer

Team Chord loses one every now and then... When Chord is not in there seems a likely time.

Blazing Flames (Joey & Teddy Flame) vs. Joshuya & Ota (Super Joshuya & Fumihiro Ota)

Given Joshuya and Ota's youth, it might make sense to push them here, while having this match trigger the breakup of the Flames. Joey and Teddy are far more over, but they're at that age when I'd see them keeping the gate for the younger guys...I just hope neither of them would throw a fit even with Keep Strong and Protect on the booker notes.

Ashley Amazon w/ Dream Girl vs. Miss Mexico

More build-up for Amazon as the alpha female heel. Besides...Dream Girl. Big Smack Scott's CV97 fling. What's not to love about that render of hers?

Jimmy Power vs. Whistler

Probably time for the old guy to get a win.

- Only to keep the Demons of Rage away from the Vesseys and the Powers of Hell a little while longer. Once the Demons start chasing the titles things are going to get even muddier than they currently are.

“You made your point, but you lost, brother, you lost. And you'll lose again. Ol' Sam lit fires himself before he dug down deep and found the heart and the power that comes with the people, brother. The Blazing Flames vs. Joshuya & Ota

A startling match, this; the feeling-out process starts slow, as ever, and as it goes on Joey and Teddy seem to perk up. There's more snap to their moves, more flair to their flying...

It's like a sudden, real excitement is in the air. For their part, the super junior stylists do their best to impress, but equally, try to keep the contest grounded, able to out-chain their competition – not that this helps as much as it might; Super Joshuya eventually eats a Flame On from Teddy while Ota is busy posing and preening like a ninja.

He's cut off by more music. Nobody can provide a good reason that Real Muthaf***in' Gs is the theme song of Giant Redwood, but perhaps that isn't so surprising. Monty stares at the entrance aisle in disbelief as Redwood charges glacially toward the ring.

Monty stares as it sinks in, and the big man rolls into the ring.

Romeo Heartthrob vs. Sam Strong

Not the first time this match has been staged, but the best – Strong's time in Japan has helped his technical game considerably, allowing him to actually work with Heartthrob's strengths rather than sort of muddling through. Despite the cruiserweight champion getting more of a lookin, however, this is still every bit the ultimate hero's match to lose – and then Heartthrob, realising the referee is unsighted, punches Strong in the groin then thumbs him in the eye, and it might be that the ultimate hero will lose.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/Everybody%20Knows/HGC%20Guys/MrLuchaIII_zps35ef880c.jpg

Sparrow backs Heartthrob up so he can check on the champion – and Mr Lucha springs to the top rope, then flies off to spike Heartthrob with a perfect huracanrana, right onto the head. He rolls to the outside, and as Heartthrob dazedly recovers... “The heart of the ultimate hero still beats!”

Strong polishes Heartthrob off with a Strong Arm Tactic to end their best ever match.

New music begins to play. Takin' Care Of Business resounds as Shane Sneer comes out, mic in hand, eyes locked on the World Heavyweight Champion, who looks annoyed to be interrupted during his posing.

Sneer walks into the ring, right up to Strong, tucks his mic under one arm and holds out his hand for a shake.

Strong doesn't seem keen. More, he seems suspicious.

Still, ultimately, a little cautious, he shakes. Sneer smiles.

“We've not been friends, Sam,” he begins, “anywhere we've met before. But I'm about to make you a very happy man.

“Laying out a man so he can't compete is bad for business, and attacking him with a belt is going to do that. So before Hollyweird, if Dread attacks you, we're going to be finding some serious penalties for him. And the same if you attack him – but you wouldn't do that, would you, Sam?” His grin gets wider.

Sam Strong looks bewildered. He takes a step forward, opening his mouth, and Sneer raises a finger. “And if you're wondering how it is I'm promising this, well, I'm taking care of business around here now. I've been appointed to herd you rough-housing, chain-wrestling, high-flying cats and make sure we're loaded with the stars the fans want to see.

“I figured I should deal with you first, Sam. You're the champion, after all, and I'm telling you now – no Sneer Corp here. My job comes at the cost of my manager's licence.”

Off mic, Sam can be seen asking Sneer to confirm. Shane nods. “That's right. No Sneer Corp. I'm paid based purely on whether the powers that be at HollyWeird think I'm doing a good job with the powers with which I'm now entrusted.

“So if you keep the hearts and minds of those men, women and children watching us now, Sam, then for the first time ever, there's no reason we can't be friends.”

He nods. “But you are wrestling Dread, with the title on the line, at Hollyweird at the end of the month. And because after two weeks without messing with each other I expect you both to be frisky, we're going to put you in a steel cage.

“But you hold on to that belt, Sam, and you stay the cat with the cream so long as I'm doing the herding. Do we understand each other?”

He holds out his hand again and Sam Strong takes it, and this time, the handshake is firm and respectful.

Paez is somewhat outclassed by the rest of this match, but he's young and he's trying, and Jackson seems comfortable to rely on him somewhat. But they lack cohesion, and the Specialists are ruthless in exploiting their Japan-honed teamwork, with the veteran Robert Oxford hitting a Top Rope Kneedrop on the rookie to add another victory to the Untouchables' tally against Jackson.

“Incidentally,” Jason Azaria says. “I like to think I know most of what goes on in wrestling. But I have no idea why the Untouchables have it in for Jackson. Anyone who has any ideas, the new HGC website has an email address. Write in!”

Demons of Rage vs. Spirit Warriors vs. Nation of Filth

A hectic contest built around the heart of the Spirit Warriors, the strength of the Nation of Filth, and the experience of the Demons – who are just as powerful as the Nation, but smarter. For much of the contest they effectively let the Nation do much of the work, intervening to shut things down and lay short, effective beatdowns before removing themselves from the battle.

When the Nation lay out Golden Fox with a lariat/legsweep combo, Demon Spite is already in the ring, and grinning. He lets rip with the Demons' trademark primal scream, drawing the Nation's attention, and Anger nails Grunt from behind with a lariat then DDTs Stink to add an exclamation point before taking advantage of the Nation's work, pinning Golden Fox.

Charlie Homicide & Peter Valentine w/ Charlie Thatcher & Karen Killer

Like the Tag Team Specialists, what the Vesseys really have over their opponents here is a close-knit sense of teamwork. On the other side, Valentine is throwing a lot of hands, and Charlie Homicide has his usual cold, calculating fury.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/Everybody%20Knows/HGC%20Guys/RickyDaleJohnson_zpsbd30bf4a.jpg

Bryan Vessey takes a Heart Punch from Valentine, who nearly capitalises but spots Cowboy Ricky Dale near the ring. He hesitates, and Vessey rolls him up – but Valentine's lackey Charlie Thatcher breaks that up. Dale gets in the ring to clear Thatcher out; seeing this, Sparrow elects to continue the match with the distraction eliminated.

Peter Valentine promptly turns around into Larry Vessey's Sick Cycle, which is enough for the pin.

It's incredibly clear, just at this moment, that Charlie Homicide doesn't take defeat well. He bails off the apron and chops Coach Dick against the guardrail. Immediately the Vesseys spring to life; caught between Homicide and the Coach's clients, Charlie Thatcher and Peter Valentine battle back in the ring, Thatcher getting to show a degree of stuff nobody knew he had before now in holding them at bay.

Richie Pangrazzio Jr hits the ring in defence of his father and, with a smirk, Homicide... ignores him, bloodying Coach Dick. Richie grabs Homicide – and Karen Killer low blows him from behind just before the show goes off the air!

Jason Jackson laughs, spinning round in his plush leather office chair. At one point in the motion the Illinois Bar Association certificate Jackson requires to ply his new trade is visible next to his Doctorate in Law.

“Loved HGC,” he says. “Loved every minute of it. It wasn't the wrasslin' my father loved, and it wasn't the wrasslin' I grew up wanting, but they were good people, and I got on with most of them. But my God, was it badly organised.

“I was contacted first by someone in StallCorp. Same as most of us, that, really. Only StallCorp guy – can't remember who – told me that, like Burning Hammer, they wanted me to work with the cruiserweights, and I get there and Sam's booked me to feud with this trio instead. Said it'd just be for now. Happened to more or less everyone. Monty was meant to be in the cruiserweights, not holding the International strap. Jimmy Power was meant to be training rookies.

“Dusty was meant to be credible.” He goes wide-eyed, putting a hand over an open mouth in a mockery of shock. “Did I say that?” he grins. “We all kind of dealt with what was in front of us, because when you've got JK's personal projects, Sam's friends, Rip's projects, and Dread's friends, it all gets a bit complicated. Steady was one of JK's projects... well, actually, turned out he wasn't, he was someone JK felt deserved a break from the micro-indies, which don't exactly pay well, but Sam thought he was a project so he got the Specialists as allies and me to feud with.

“The Hype was low priority, so he got a manager and then nothing for a while. Jethro Redwood was buddies with Dread at the time – this was before the thing with Dread's ex-wife and the cookie dough – so he got a Hollyweird title match against Monty. And Romeo wasn't happy to be a vanilla midget all of a sudden. He wanted to be feuding with the Hype, just because the Hype's manager was actually a porn star.

“Nobody had a clue how to make all of this work, and it was messy for a while because for a while it was about who you knew and who signed you and why.

“I think it was basically Rip, Sam, Dread, me and Monty who weren't actually worried. Well, us and Bob Oxford. Bob had seen it all before.

“There is nothing on God's earth, including the Flood, Bob hasn't seen before, and he's learned from all of them. Trouble is, you need him sh**faced before he says s**t.”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/Everybody%20Knows/HGC%20Guys/RobertOxford_alt5_zpsfd717e73.jpg

The bottle of La Fee beside Robert Oxford indicates to the cognoscenti that JK Stallings has heeded Jason's advice and got him sh**faced.

On absinthe.

“It's always a name to begin with,” he says, his diction still – miraculously – perfect. “Who you are, who you know. And after a while they work out who can work, and the cream rises to the top. It happens.” He nods. “Some of the scum stays on top too, but you learn to work round them. I'm one of five men who've had good matches with both Peter Valentine and Big Smack Scott.

“Sam Strong didn't care about some bits of the HollyWeird cards. Which is actually fine. If nobody cares about you, then – well, remember that chain of promos on Runaway Train that first got Jumbo Jackson noticed, before the shrimp mask? That whole thing where he accused Train of ducking him, got count-out victories, interviewed a publicity photo? Nobody cared backstage, so he got to do whatever, and he made them care in the audience. And that's why Jerry Eisen stuck him with a shrimp mask before he f**ked Train's credibility

“But you can get over if nobody stops you. The problem with Sam was that it showed he didn't care.

“Azaria came up with the idea on the fly. He asked for fans to email in explanations for why we hated Jason Jackson. We got a good one, in the end, but before then we'd literally been feuding for no f**king reason.

“And that ain't gonna grab attention. F**k it, though, we did alright, didn't we?”

HollyWeird fans rejoice, as once again we'll be with you Tuesday, bringing you a night packed with wrestling, women, rock and roll, and all the rest of the awesome! And we're starting the night off with speed against strength, as the Spirit Warriors will be in action against the Powers of Hell - seasoned veteran high fliers against the powerhouses who've made a big splash in little time.

The Untouchables' disagreement with New School continues, as Jason Jackson takes on a tag team specialist in singles action; Joel Bryant. Will he prove untouchable or be taken to school?

Tag team action to follow; challenger and champion against challenger and champion, Giant Redwood & Romeo Heartthrob versus Monty Walker & Mr Lucha.

And then a major match for the tag division itself as the Black Serpent Cult go face to face with Savage Fury. Will age and guile outdo youth and power?

And next up, a hardcore match. Richie Pangrazzio Jr has found himself challenged by newcomer and former champion elsewhere The Insane Heat. Is this more of Charlie Homicide's machinations?

The Vessey Brothers will then take on a seasoned tag team, the partnership of Paul Steadyfast and Robert Oxford; the Untouchables.

And in the main event, Teddy Flame has shocked the HollyWorld by making a challenge in singles competition to Dread.

Prediction Key:

Powers of Hell (BLZ Bubb & Nemesis) vs. Spirit Warriors (Dark EAGLE & Golden Fox)

Jason Jackson vs. Joel Bryant

Giant Redwood & Romeo Heartthrob vs. Monty Python & Mr Lucha

Black Serpent Cult (Cobra & Viper) vs. Savage Fury (Java & Tribal Warrior)

HARDCORE MATCH

The Insane Heat vs. Richie Pangrazzio Jr w/ Coach Dick Pangrazzio

The Untouchables (Paul Steadyfast & Robert Oxford) vs. The Vessey Brothers (Bryan & Larry) w/ Coach Dick Pangrazzio (non-title)

Dread vs. Teddy Flame

Thanks for coming.

Jason Jackson vs. Joel Bryant

I'm sooooort of inclined to say that double J needs to win at least some of the time in these matches.

Cheap heel win. Also lol. Monty Python...

Black Serpent Cult (Cobra & Viper) vs. Savage Fury (Java & Tribal Warrior)

Well, there was an entertaining typo. Pretty clear where my brain was, then...

And now for something completely different.

I like pretty graphics in my diaries. And I don't have many I'd actually want here - so, here's an appeal to fans who want to get involved.

I'd love pretty title belts for HGC, such as I cannot find beyond generics. I'd love event logos, too, for both.
