Ockbald
I'm really excited for dramatic comebacks. I wonder how mods will work on the system...
VampiroEl
First thing I thought about when I saw todays entry was that it's a perfect metaphor for this series. Wrestling Spirit 3:Dramatic Comeback. Brilliant idea

James Casey
June 7th: Wrestler Skills To help mod makers plan for WreSpi3, I thought I'd go over the wrestler skills today. With the previous games, they intentionally shared a lot of stats with the TEW series so that there could be a heavy crossover between the two. The downside to this was that a lot of the stats didn't do much, or in some cases, anything. With WreSpi3, I decided to rethink this approach, and instead go with a smaller amount of stats but to make each one really important to gameplay - this would hopefully not only making modding easier, but also make the game easier to understand and smoother to play. Therefore, the Skill stats in WreSpi3 are: Overall Rating (i.e. how successful they are; used for decided how much health they start with, etc) Spirit (i.e. their 'fighting spirit', which is used in some of the features that will be announced later) Strength Striking Grappling Ground Speed Stamina Athleticism Each skill is not only used in deciding which moves a wrestler has the ability to perform, but is also used heavily in in-match calculations (much more so than in previous games), making them much more vital to the actual gameplay. I think a small number of very important skills is a much more intuitive approach than a large number of skills that include plenty of duds, and this will also allow wrestlers to be crafted much more accurately by mod makers. Well, I guess that answers my previous wondering - a streamlined skill rating system, which seems to put greater emphasis on the attributes. And if certain skills really were redundant in WS1 and 2, then removing them is no loss whatsoever.
TLCJR4LIFE
Odd that there's no aerial stat. Also looking like there won't be anything like charisma or whatever to boost your popularity.
Blasphemywebleed
Odd that there's no aerial stat. Also looking like there won't be anything like charisma or whatever to boost your popularity. Good spot on aerial, I guess it could be argued that Athleticism could cover this in a round about way, but I do find the lack of a dedicated stat odd. The entry does specify 'Skill stats' so i'm wondering if things like charisma will be covered in a separate personality section?

Psycho Sam
Three questions: 1. Are the moves that have 'followed by' enabled two separate move (with a reversal chance for both of them? Like, if I didn't counter the spinebuster, would I be still able to counter the people's elbow)? 2. Can there be an infinite chain of followed by moves (like, Angle Slam to Elbow Drop to Knee Drop to Splash, repeat as necessary)? Or, better yet, can there be a sequence of 'Followed By' moves (like the Welcome to NYC)?> 3. What happens if, say, you do a followed by move, but the move intended isn't there? What happens if, say, you do a followed by move, but the move intended isn't there? It doesn't get attempted.

I will be pretty disappointed if promos and interviews aren't added.
mike b
I just love flash points OMG! I hope they have one were you get yr opponent pinned but bur ref had his back turned away from you for whatever reason or the classic ref knocked out while this happens. Psycho Sam
There's already instances of refs being knocked out in WreSpi2, but these are excellent expansions to stuff like that.

James Casey
Delighted to see managers becoming a more active part of the game world. Having Miss Elizabeth, Emma Chase or Bobby Heenan on your side can now really make a huge difference. I await my first loss to Jimmy Hart's megaphone with interest. BobbyRogers
Gotta say each and every Journal Entry makes me happy, and are all additions I would have focused on if I was designing WS3. Kayfabe is back, baby.
edenborn
Adam, while WS3 sounds like it will be terrific fun in its own right, I wonder if you have any plans to make it work with TEW? I've long been hoping for a "match play-by-play" feature for TEW, along the lines of the WMMA series. If WS3 could look at the particulars of a given TEW match and then create an engaging CPU vs. CPU match report with a predetermined winner, all road agent notes followed, etc., then from my perspective WS3 would jump from "will be sure to check out the demo" to "must buy." Adam Ryland
Adam, while WS3 sounds like it will be terrific fun in its own right, I wonder if you have any plans to make it work with TEW? No, there are no plans due to the games having diametrically opposite viewpoints; pre-determined winners \ road agent notes \ etc wouldn't make any real sense within the WreSpi framework as the fact that it's treated as a real contest is the fundamental concept on which the game is based; everything is built on top of that. VampiroEl
Brilliant entry for today, a TEW13 converter will really be a time saver and hopefully lead to more mods being completed. I know it would've helped with WresSpi2 a lot because the editor was a bit frustrating, and now we only need to concentrate on moves (which also sound a lot easier to apply this time around) Just hope I have enough time to play this game when it comes out
Derek B
It sounds like there are a lot of brilliant additions for mod makers, which I think has always been the toughest part of the WreSpi series. By making it possible to convert from both games and with all the other things announced so far, making mods should be really smooth and easy to do. The modding community is always a huge part of any of Adam's games, so this should be huge for making WreSpi3 the best one yet. I can't wait to see what scenarios come out for WreSpi3. In fact, I'm hoping that some people are already planning to convert various TEW mods over, because it could be epic to play in some of them.
