So, to better understand the "Fog of War", lets say I'm looking at Captain Atomic's stats. Right now, I have an 8/10 for most all of his stats (scouting-wise). So, with 2 remaining levels left, does that mean that the stats I see right now (C+ in brawling, B- in basics, etc.) may not ACTUALLY be where his skills lie? In a sense, if I scout further, could I come to find out that his brawling is a B- or C- through scouting? In a sense, I don't know totally, for sure, where his skill level lies until I have it at a 10/10?

If you look at lots of people with different scouting levels you can see roughly how the grades work out... you start with very few categories and vague gradings, with higher scouting levels increasing either how many categories you see or how they're graded (alternating at each level). It's "accurate" but the weightings of stats will make it hard to tell where they are in any category and obviously you won't be able to tell if people are still improving or not until you get to the highest levels by which time you might've spent years trying to develop someone who just wasn't going anywhere. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">

What's the difference between a "learning matchup" and a "complementary matchup"? I got the terminology from the manual, but I wonder whether there is a substantial difference other than the name of the concept. In practice it kinda seems the same thing: pairing up a better worker with a lesser worker. The intent just seems different, so how is it a different technique?

It could fall anywhere between (let's say as an example; not concrete numbers here) a 80-83?

B- is (from memory) 72 to 78 I think, so his stat will be somewhere in that area. At low scouting levels you'd see that as his In-Ring skill being Strong (probably), changing to his Rumble Skills being Very Strong (probably) to his Brawling being Very Strong (probably) to his Brawling being B- then lastly to it being 75. Obviously, that assumes it stays the same and that his other stats are vaguely similar, which isn't always going to be the case. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">

The filters when searching for workers by skills will take the rough values from the right area of scouting when you look. So if you look for a good brawler, then you might get some people who show up as Strong in In-Ring skills who later might not be particularly good brawlers, but because it was as close as your scouting could let you see, you might get the false positive. It makes raising scouting levels important, which happens faster on big shows than it does on small ones... more excuses to get your undercarders on shows to help you out long term. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">

For example, pairing Christian Faith and Captain Atomic in order to improve Atomic's psychology.

A complementary matchup, however, is done primarily to cover up for one worker's lack of ability. For example, pairing Christian Faith with Marat Khoklov in order to hide the fact Khoklov has no psychology of his own and to make sure the match doesn't end up a horrible mess. The fact Khoklov will also learn is just a positive side effect.

How does it work for you? Do you find your shows get better ratings with it on (and you follow it)?

The theory says that it's best to swing the momentum of your show back and forth, instead of booking from lame to awesome (the latter in the main event obv.). So start off with a nice match followed by the worst match, make sure the main event is the best match on paper, preceded by a co-main that is preferably significantly worse. At least I found that having a C+ co-main might make for a A main, while a B- co-main makes for a B+ main, resulting in what is essentially a worse show overall. So yes, I do try to follow it (as TEW made me <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />)

@jhd1: Thx. So it's only the intent that's the difference? I guess the phrase was just to let new players know what the use of these types of matchups can potentially be.
