ACPW - Modern Canadian Wrestling!

Recommended Posts

New Year’s Eve 2013

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/SkyKing.jpg

“Daedalus, you called me here and so far, you’ve refused to tell me why. Why am I here Daedalus?”

The question hung in the air. Daedalus looked at me with sorrow.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/DaedalusBuchinsky.jpg

“Tom doesn’t want to book anymore. I don’t have anyone else to turn to. To the rest of Canada, we’re a joke. If I don’t find a new booker soon then we’re done. I can’t do it myself.”

I knew what he wanted of me. For 4 years I had been the veteran voice of ACPW, helping to guide the youngsters and stop them from trying to kill each other in the ring. Art could only do so much, they needed someone to lead in the ring.

And now Daedalus wants me to run the show.

“I’ll do it. But we do things my way. You want ACPW to succeed? Leave the wrestling side of things to me. You handle the business side of things. You understand?”

A quick and frantic nod of Daedalus’ head told me all I needed to know. He shook my hand and we signed a contract. As of the New Year’s Day 2014 ACPW will be booked by myself. Some call me Gary Burton. Others call me Sky King.

All I cared about was making ACPW into one of Canada’s biggest wrestling promotions.

ROSTER - SINGLES

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/AlistairShufflebottom.jpg

Alistair Shufflebottom

Trademark Moves: Shuffle The Deck (Slingshot Suplex)

One of the bottom rung workers in ACPW, Alistair has spent the last four years with more marks in the losses column than he has in the wins column. With a never-give-up attitude though Alistair continually gives his all and it shows.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/Ant-Man.jpg

Ant-Man

Trademark Moves: Antidote (Fireman's Carry Slam), Giant Swing

The most powerful man on the roster, Ant-Man has impressed many since appearing in ACPW in April of 2011. Quickly forming a championship winning team with Topher Smith, Ant-Man has began to broaden his horizons with several singles wins under his belt, a streak which saw him both dethrone Jay Becker in August to win the ACPW Canadian Regional championship and put his tag team on hold for now.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/Dagger.jpg

Dagger

Trademark Moves: Dagger Kick (Punt Kick), Dagger Strikes (A combination of kicks and chops in the corner)

One of the most vicious men to ever step in an ACPW ring, Dagger is a silent assassin who prefers to do his talking in the ring. With his partner-in-crime Mimic, Dagger is always a threat to ACPW. Currently acting as a guard for Mimic's championship reign, if anyone wishes to face Mimic for the title then they must first face off against Dagger to see if "they are worthy".

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/ElDiablo.jpg

El Diablo

Trademark Moves: Diablo Driver I (Cradle back-to-belly piledriver), Diablo Driver II (Fireman's Carry Driver)

One of ACPW's top workers, El Diablo is a shining example of the talent ACPW possess. Having spent the first two years as one of the top contenders to the ACPW Junior Heavyweight championship, El Diablo dropped off the contenders list to pursue a blood feud with Sky King, a feud that ended with a Respect Match at ACPW's last event of 2013 which saw El Diablo finally overcome the bitter veteran and force him to shake his hand.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/GramGorman.jpg

Gram Gorman

Trademark Moves: Gorman-Aghast (Gutwrench Inverted Piledriver)

A relative newcomer to the ACPW scene, what Gram lacks in experience he makes up in pure pain. Brutalising who ever faces him in the ring, Gram is an intense young man with a variety of ways to inflict pain. Currently on a one month suspension issued by ACPW owner Daedalus Buchinsky for "excessive violence".

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/GrimmQuibble.jpg

Grimm Quibble

Trademark Moves: Quick Quibble Crash (Top Rope Flip Neckbreaker)

The current record holder for number of reigns with the ACPW Junior Heavyweight championship, ex-CGC star Grimm Quibble is one of ACPW's most respected workers. Coming into ACPW in 2010 he immediately captured the fan's attention and has been going strong ever since. Currently Grimm is locked in a battle with Mimic over the ACPW Junior Heavyweight championship, a battle that has been raging on since August 2013.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/JamieAtherton.jpghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/HeatherB.jpg

Jamie Atherton & Heather B

Trademark Moves: Lightning Bolt (Swandive Legdrop IF THAT IS EVEN POSSIBLE?!), Ride The Lightning (Curb Stomp)

Proclaiming themselves as the "Poster couple for Generation X" Jamie Atherton and his beau Heather B are selfish, vain and vile. Showing no contempt for anyone other than themselves, the pair have been at the forefront of ACPW ever since the first show in 2009. Whilst Jamie is a skilled in-ring worker, many wonder if he would be better off without the bad influence of his girlfriend at ringside. In recent months they have set their wicked sights on Jayson Van Pelt, claiming the young Canadian to be "everything they hate".

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/JaysonVanPelt.jpg

Jayson Van Pelt

Trademark Move: Shimmering Destiny (
Blue Destiny)

ACPW's hardest working man Jayson Van Pelt, one of the only two time ACPW Canadian Regional champions, is the ideal wrestler to some. Always professional and always wowing the crowds, JVP often takes home the Match of the Night accolades. Van Pelt also has his sights set on finally taking home the big one but has seen his attempts thwarted by Jamie Atherton.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/Kamikaze.jpg

Kamikaze

Trademark Move: Reverse 450 Splash

ACPW's own frenetic ball of energy, Kamikaze is exactly as his name suggests. Often utilising his own body as a weapon, Kamikaze usually ends up in worse shape than his opponent regardless of the outcome. Originally an honourable man by the name of Christian Vars, Kamikaze became the cocky aerial artist known to the fans today after a brief spell teaming with Jamie Atherton and claims that Atherton showed him the way to get ahead.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/MariodaSilva.jpg

Mario Da Silva

Trademark Moves: Kimura

Proving that simple doesn't always equal bland, Mario Da Silva is the premier submission artist in ACPW. Knowing a wide range of holds and knowing how exactly to apply them, Mario has been near the forefront of ACPW ever since it's inception in 2009. Whilst some have claimed he has never reached his true potential by only ever holding the Canadian Regional championship, Mario claims he is simply waiting until the time is perfect to make a move on becoming the man to beat in ACPW.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/Mimic.jpg

Mimic

Trademark Moves: The Screwdriver (Spinning Inverted Piledriver), Feel My Pain (Evenflow DDT)

The current ACPW Junior Heavyweight champion, Mimic is a man who wishes to inflict his own emotional pain onto others. Originally part of the premier tag team in ACPW with Dagger, a team that is still as dangerous in the modern landscape of ACPW, Mimic launched into the Junior Heavyweight championship scene in May 2012 and hasn't looked back since. After losing the title for the first time, Mimic became a much more darker and sinister character with Dagger becoming a sort of loyal right hand man instead of just a partner. Now with the belt back in his grasp, Mimic is said to be looking for more "twisted souls to join his nest" in 2014.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/ReggieBishop.jpg

Reggie Bishop

Trademark Move: Bishop Basher (Slingshot Legdrop)

One of the unluckiest men in ACPW, Reggie Bishop has yet to achieve a victory. Always on the grasp of winning before making a rookie mistake, Reggie is a man determined to turn his fortunes around in 2014.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/SkyKing.jpg

Sky King

Trademark Move: S.K.S (Frog Splash)

The veteran of ACPW, Sky King has often demanded his younger opponents kneel down and learn defeat at his hands, a move which has not endeared him to anyone on the ACPW roster. Just out of a long feud with El Diablo which revolved around this lack of respect from Sky King towards the young talent in ACPW, Sky King was forced to say out loud that he respected El Diablo and shake his hand in the middle of the ring. Now looking for another target to gain back his edge, Sky King is as dangerous as ever.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/TopherSmith.jpg

Topher Smith

Trademark Moves: Gopher Suicide Dive (Shooting Star Legdrop)

One of the original ACPW roster members, Topher Smith is a stalwart in ACPW. Not really finding a niche until Ant-Man showed up on the ACPW scene, the two quickly bonded and formed a Tag Team championship winning team. With Ant-Man now focusing on his Canadian Regional championship, Topher is now settling into life as a singles worker with an impressive victory over former ACPW Canadian Regional champion Kamikaze at the last ACPW show.

Roster - REGULAR TAG TEAMS

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/DermottAyres.jpghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/MarcRaisin.jpg

The Montreal Mafia

Dermott Ayres & Marc Raisin

Trademark Moves: Montreal Crab (Elevated Boston Crab) [Dermott], Raisin D'etre (Second Rope Moonsault) [Marc], The Montreal Disaster (Dermott locks in the Montreal Crab whilst Marc hits the Raisin D'etre to the same opponent, landing squarely on the back of the opponent)

Two men bonded by a need for gold and a desire for power, Dermott Ayres and Marc Raisin are one potent mix. Combining Dermott's technical prowess and Marc's speed into one deadly package, The Montreal Mafia are locked in a never ending war with The Inner City Express over control of the ACPW Tag Team championships.

http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/JayBecker.jpghttp://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g452/El_Scotcho/ACPW/MalikCash.jpg

The Inner City Express

Jay Becker & Malik Cash

Trademark Moves: Note Perfect (Top Rope Elbow Drop) [Jay], Cash Flow Kick (Superkick to kneeling opponent) [Malik], Inner City Wake Up Call (Malik lifts an opponent up into a samoan drop position and Jay springboards off the ropes with a leg drop, driving the opponent down onto the mat)

Raised in the streets, both Jay Becker and Malik Cash learned from an early age to always fend for themselves. Realising that they could combine their street smarts and become an effective duo early on, The Inner City Express currently hold the record for most ACPW Tag Team title reigns. Locked in a never ending war with The Montreal Mafia over control of the ACPW Tag Team championships, both Jay and Malik have no intention of splitting up just yet.

I don't think I've ever played as ACPW before. That said, it's a MichiganHero diary! I'm looking forward to a lesson in Canadian wrestling. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Fair enough and now that I think about it, you are likely right. As a pro wrestler, you definitely know better than me what works and what doesn't.

I was just trying to envision what this move would look like.

Cool to see an ACPW diary, I'm actually playing a game as them myself; though I picked Thrill Seeker as my user character so that does make it a bit easy given his overness.

The biggest issue I've had with ACPW is trying to stay out of debt. At local level you're going to be losing money every month and 50,000 dollars isn't a lot to play with. Just to survive until I reached Small I had to do a lot of roster trimming; ended up firing my announce team, manager, and a few wrestlers; Sky King for being so expensive, Gram Gorman and Reggie Bishop for being negative influences.

I did make it to small eventually; though in retrospect I probably should have just given up on the maritimes and went to ontario because it's going to take a long, long time to reach regional with 60% regional importance.

ACPW Junior Heavyweight Championship Bout!

Mimic © vs Grimm Quibble

I know Grim Quibble is one of your top guys, but it's hard for me not to think of him as a comedy guy.

Jayson Van Pelt faces Mimic's Gatekeeper!

Dagger vs Jayson Van Pelt

In my game I've done a bit of a slow burn with Van Pelt, I put him in a team with Alistair Shufflebottom and the plan is for them to get the tag titles and after that's over push Van Pelt aiming to be the first man to have won all 3 of ACPW's titles.

Jamie Atherton vs Sky King

He cheats.

ACPW Canadian Regional Championship Four Way!

Ant-Man © vs Alistair Shufflebottom vs Dermott Ayres vs ??? (New signing)

Ant-Man's pretty good for his role in the company, no reason for him to drop it just yet.

Marc Raisin vs Mario Da Silva

Squash

Kamikaze & ???? vs ???? & ????

Bonus Hint 1: The mystery man in the four-way is on the IPW starting roster: Ray Snow

Bonus Hint 2: Kamikaze's partner is on the 4C starting roster: Hudson Drake

Zak Attack's name fits better, but Hudson Drake seems to fit better with Kamikaze's cocky persona.

Bonus Hint 3: Mystery team have bitchin' masks: Babau & Moroi.

They're the only masked team I can think of that wouldn't be overly expensive.

Bobby Eaton done the Alabama Jam for years with very little problems (I know this because I just text him and ask if his ass felt ok lol...and for the record he thought that was an very odd question from a guy lol) so landing on your ass wouldn't be the problem IMO. But it would look odd because you would be basically missing the move except for your leg, and it probably wouldn't be a comfortable landing. and psychology wise, why would it hurt the person delivering it more by missing the move? I mean, I jump off the top rope and land on my back with my leg hitting my opponent and I'm fine to make the cover? but if he rolls out of the way I land on my back but my leg doesn't hit anything and that is supposed to hurt me more?

Just my thoughts on it, lol, sorry to hijack the thread. I am interested to see how this promotion works as I've never played it but I have been wondering how well a promotion with a narrow focus such as this will do at the cult/national/international levels.

Coulrophobia fits the bill as well, but unless Pierott is willing and able to move down a weight class to lightweight they don't fit the riddle.
