Brimstone and Buck Graham vs Fearless Blue and Taylor Kidd

Things start off with a group of the less talented performers in tag action. At least three are young enough they will star to improve and of the group Taylor Kidd probably shows he is the least green. The match is kept short since most guys are not exactly masters of psychology and they are mostly allowed to show off with a few big moves. Fearless Blue picks up the win for his team with a Springboard Lariat on Buck Graham while Kidd and Brimstone were brawling outside.

An unhappy Brimstone enters the ring and his fury this time is directed at his partner. Buck is beaten up some more and left on the outside of the ring in a heap. Similar to last month where there is no real reaction, but so far Brimstone is known as a guy that loses and throws tantrums so that might be why.

Rex Reeves vs Austin Smooth with Venus

A pretty good match as Austin gets a chance to work with someone more experienced this time around. Reeves is very much like Monteiro in style, but his extra years on the scene seem to give him the extra knowledge to pull the best out of Austin. Rex has control in the early part and it takes a distraction from Venus to allow Austin to get a cheap shot in and take control. The technical expert takes control after that and eventually gets Rex to tap to the Smooth Hold.

Smooth sort of shoos the defeated Reeves out of the ring as Venus climbs in to join the youngster.

AS: There you go, gentlemen. Proof that even experience isn't enough to get the best of me. I am going straight to the top and I don't care who has the title when I get the shot. It won't matter because they will just fall victim to the greatest hold in wrestling today. My time is coming and the cream always rises to the top. Before long you all will know me as Austin Smooth, the All Action Canadian champion!

A move to give Austin some more practice and show off Venus some more. Given the reaction it might be something to make a staple as so far it has gotten positive feedback. Everyone likes a cocky little shit to boo.

Roger Monteiro vs Kirk Drury

Perhaps not as good as the last match, but certainly watchable. Kirk is showing to be pretty reliable so far and Monteiro manages to do enough to keep the crowd entertained. The two exchange momentum several times and the high risk offense of Monteiro is what costs him. Drury manages to get out of the way of a charge and counters with a punishing German suplex before locking Monteiro up in the Scorpion Deathlock and making him tap.

Winner: Kirk Drury

An unhappy Ricochet Ramone is out next his match, but he decides he has some words about his opponent before Tempest Appleby comes out.

RR: "Everyone knows last month I got robbed. I had the match in hand and that idiot Tempest Appleby cost me the title. You should have never come back, Appleby. You should have remained in whatever whole you live in and realize you are nothing but a washed up wrestler. In fact just go home now. We already know you can't beat me, but if you want your ass whipped come on out."

Ramone is another that is getting some more time to talk. Of the main eventers of the group he is the one that has the long term potential so it is best to keep him working on all aspects to prepare him for bigger things that might come sooner than later.

Ricochet Ramone vs Tempest Appleby

Ramone ends up getting more than he bargained for as Appleby came out to fight. The two perform well and end up being a good match to have before the main event. It is a back and forth affair with Ramone taking control in the later stages. It just seems Appleby doesn't have enough in the tank to keep going and Ramone gets cocky about it. The veteran seems to be playing possum though and it pays off. Appleby manages to pull Ramone into a quick cradle and scores what might be considered and upset victory. Ramone is in disbelief as Appleby rolls out of the ring and celebrates a bit as his opponent just sits there in the ring stunned that he just got pinned.

Sky King © vs Cal Sanders

There are no words exchanged, just a quick handshake as a sign of respect before the two show why some wrestlers don't need to talk. The two best hands on the roster give the small crowd a show full of technical mastery on Cal's part and some breath taking counters and surprise moves from Sky King. The match easily goes almost twice as long as any of the others before it and neither man misses a beat as they up the bar and outdo the main event from last month. Sky King eventually hits with his Sky King Splash and makes his first defense.

Sky King's Thoughts

Overall a better outing as a whole. After seeing what everyone could do we made adjustments and the matches seemed to improve. There is still plenty of work to be done and other tweaks to be made, but given this is only our second show I consider it a success. I could have wrestled Cal all knight if given the chance, but we did what needed to be done and give the six people that came to see us something to talk about. I really do hope Art is right and the crowd will start to get bigger. We can't be making money like this.

OOC: Two shows in two days. Sure they are short for the time being, but I wanted to get a bit knocked out while I had the weekend free. Things will slow down a bit now at least through the week due to work. Thanks to all the readers and hope you enjoy.

Some Good Old Male Bonding

http://i.imgur.com/TXiLZpb.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/pU77WOU.jpg

I admit I have never been much of a social butterfly. If anything that may be the key reason why I have never worked for any of the big companies and I have drifted about for so many years. Sure I get along with most people and I am cordial, but I can't say I have had friends. That has started to change at least with one person. I don't know what it is, but me and Cal Sanders just seem like kindred souls. Almost the same career path with similar strengths and weaknesses. We had a lot to talk about and I would say for the first time in years I have a good friend.

Of course there is Art, but he is more of a mentor in a way than a friend. A man who has so much knowledge I can't help but be drawn to his words. Cal is more someone I can identify with. A man that has experienced much the same and I think that is why we have become drinking buddies.

CS: "....so that is how it happened. First ever rib on me and I will never forget. Jesus, Mammoth and all that pie."

SK: "I never crossed paths with him. I am sort of glad as I have heard some horror stories. Is he still wrestling?"

CS: "A few dates here and there. I saw him about a year ago. Still useless in the ring. Think him and Biff the Bruiser were the main event. Hey, you keep seeming a bit lost in thought by the way. What's on your mind?"

SK: "Thinking about the next show I guess. Wonder what Art has in mind and such. I know it is going to be me and Appleby, but not sure who else. Who do you want to face?"

CS: "I don't really know. How about Rex? Might be fun to face another veteran. You have Ramone busy already right?"

SK: "I don't, but Art said he had that one covered. I can mention you want Rex. I...."

I am cut off in mid sentence when the phone starts to ring. As I check I only shake my head. Speak of the devil.

http://i.imgur.com/mGogoVN.jpg

AL: "Hey, kiddo. I just wanted to tell you to meet up with me this weekend. I want to finalize some things."

SK: "Uh, sure. That is fine. I was actually just talking to Cal a bit about stuff."

AL: "You two hanging out again? Looks like I made a good choice in bringing him in. I figured you two would get along. Careful, he is a deceptively good drinker. You might end up under the table. Also, I got something in the works. Might have a surprise here late March to early April."

SK: "What kind of surprise?"

AL: "A damn surprise that wouldn't be one if I told you! It will be fun if it works out. Trust me on it. Just remember. Meet me this Saturday."

He hangs up before I can say much else. I smirk slightly which causes Cal to raise an eyebrow as he finishes pounding his beer.

CS: "The boss?"

SK: "The boss. Got to finalize the card this weekend for the next show. I will mention you wanting Rex then."

I decide it best to not mention the surprise. It might not be something Art wants anyone else to know. I trust Cal not to tell others, but sometimes it is better to be safe than sorry. Art also seems to be right about one thing because Cal is already ordering another round too. This may be a long night.

CS: "So lemme tell you about Jon Jetson and what his real name supposedly is."

A long night indeed, but a damn fun one.

Sky King © vs Tempest Appleby

Not time to drop the belt yet.

Also Appearing

Cal Sanders vs Rex Reeves

Rex could use a win somewhere but Cal´s the one who gets one here as he haven´t won any matches yet either.

Austin Smooth vs Fearless Blue

Both guys have 2 wins so far but at least on my opinion, Smooth is the one who had higher quality (well, on AAW´s standards anyway) opponents and with all that promo time, I figure that he also has higher push.

Roger Monteiro vs Kirk Drury

I could see Monteiro getting a win back but since you said that this was a bit of an accitend, I figure that Drury gets another win.

Brimstone vs Buck Graham

Probably the two most useless guys in the roster (says a lot too about how bad they are :p) but at least Brimstone has a cool alt to go for and has bit more of a character development going with those post-match temper tantrums.

Taylor Kidd vs Ricochet Ramone

Ramone might have two losses while Kidd has two wins so far but Ramone have had higher caliber opponents too and all that promo time suggest to me that he´s one with higher push so I figure he gets his first win here.

Brimstone vs Buck Graham

Possibly the two worst performers on the roster go at it in a short, but ugly match. Brimstone is on offense almost the entire match and Buck is for the most part playing the part of a rag doll before being placed on Brimstone's shoulders one final time to be dropped down hard by a move Brimstone calls Ashes to Ashes which brings a end to the match thankfully.

Winner: Brimstone

Fearless Blue is already in the ring as Austin Smooth comes out with Venus. The pair share a good laugh after getting a look at Austin's opponent. He climbs into the ring and sizes up Blue a bit before laughing a bit to himself.

AS: "You look hideous. I can't believe you have a job here with that look. A mask would do wonders for you, buddy. People like you just need to get out of the business. What do you have to say for yourself?"

FB: "Gosh, I reckon I only have one thing to say.....FEAR THE FEARLESS!"

Fearless Blue quickly dropkicks Austin out of the ring and the match begins.

Fearless Blue vs Austin Smooth with Venus

Austin and Blue manage to pull off a pretty good match. Their styles contrast nicely with Blue providing the high flying moves while Austin uses his technical prowess to for the most part overwhelm Blue most of the match. Of course it helps Venus does well at causing distractions and derailing Blue each time he starts to build momentum. They keep it short, but much more entertaining than the last bout with Austin locking on the Smooth Hold and giving Fearless Blue his first loss.

Taylor Kidd vs Ricochet Ramone

Ramone looks to be wrestling with a chip on his shoulder and his aggression is being taken out on Kidd. The bout goes a bit longer than the previous two and the pair manage to keep it together in the ring while also providing some nice aerial moves without messing up too bad. Kidd's offense is sporadic though and Ramone controls a majority of the match and eventually takes Kidd out with the Ricochet Senton.

Winner: Ricochet Ramone

http://i.imgur.com/rPnkrGm.jpg

Ramone lingers after the match and he looks over the small group gathered and shakes his head.

RR: "I just want you to know that I was robbed again and I should be in the main event tonight. I should be winning the title. Instead we have some old man party that will put you all too sleep. Well tonight before it is all said and done Tempest Appleby will wish he never came to All Action Wrestling. Mark my words."

Roger Monteiro vs Kirk Drury

Six of the nine people in attendance are probably having deja vu all over again. Not only are Roger and Kirk wrestling again, but it almost comes off as the same match. There might be a few moves shifted here and there and Roger even manages a few close falls, but for the most part it goes down similar to last show complete with Kirk winning with the Scorpion Deathlock.

Cal Sanders vs Rex Reeves

If Cal is involved the match will usually be watchable. This is a case where Rex makes out looking better than normal because of his opponent. Both veterans are looking to pick up their first win and Rex seems like he is the one that will be having to wait longer. Cal's ground based offense is too much for him. Rex is laid out long enough for Cal to climb up top and deliver a nice Frog Splash for the victory.

Tempest Appleby vs Sky King ©

Tempest is fighting an uphill battle given the earlier attack, but he shows to be a tenacious veteran that won't go down easy. Sky King may also have thought he was in for an easy match after watching the assault and instead finds him having to work hard and keeping Appleby down for good. The two veterans have good pacing and as things continue momentum shifts and Appleby looks like he might just win.

http://i.imgur.com/rPnkrGm.jpg

That is until Ricochet Ramone returns with perfect timing. Sky King is being checked on by the referee after taking a nasty spill outside when Ramone hits Appleby from behind. He gets a few shots in and quickly rolls out and scurries away before the referee sees he was there. Appleby never recovers from the beating and Sky King puts him away with a Sky King Splash to retain his title.

Sky Kings Thoughts

Another pretty good show. Everyone did what need to be done and once again we managed to put on a good main event. Tempest may be approaching forty, but he showed up with his working boots on and he really kept up his end on making the match enjoyable. Most of the other matches were watchable and should have kept the audience entertained. Of course now it will be interesting on seeing who Art pairs me up with next. With Cal and Tempest out of the way it is going to be one of the younger guys so there is an expected dip in quality to happen. In the end it will work out. We are doing what needs to be done to attract attention and don't need to worry about classic matches to build on our current fanbase.

Art's Surprise

http://i.imgur.com/mGogoVN.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/TXiLZpb.jpg

March was almost over and I was over at Art's place helping plan the next card. I know he had mentioned a surprise, but hasn't said anything since that phone conversation, but the way he can't stop grinning right now makes me think whatever he was planning worked out.

SK: "Are you going to tell me?"

AL: "Tell you what? Why I am a happy old man? Am I not allowed to smile?"

SK: "Come on. You aren't always this giddy. What is it? Did we turn a profit finally or something?"

AL: "I told you not to ask about finances, kiddo. That is for me to worry about. I guess I will tell you now since it will affect our show next month."

That makes me curious and worried at the same time. We had been working on the show for a few hours now and he thought it best to wait and tell me about something when we have most of it finalized? It can't be bad if he is smiling like this and being giddy like a schoolgirl.

AL: "So I have been talking to Troy over at 4C and guess what? I made a deal that works out in our favor overall."

SK: "What did you do? I can't even imagine Troy would even know about us."

AL: "Well I sent him some links of our youtube clips and he expressed interest in a few talents. Talents we can send over to 4C for more experience and in turn some of his lower card guys will come work for us if we need them."

This.....this is a big deal. No wonder why he was so damn happy. 4C isn't the big leagues, but they are far above even the likes of ACPW. They have been able to sell out places that hold up to a thousand people these days. We haven't even broken ten in our first few months.

SK: "I am surprised. I mean does he know we have a very very small following?"

AL: "Of course. Consider it a humbling experience for some of the guys who got lucky starting out there and haven't had to work smaller shows. I already got our first deal. Gonna send Kick Ass over there and they are sending over a kid named Mosher. Green as grass which means he will fit in perfectly for us."

It still amuses me he refuses to call Kirk by his actual name. It is a good trade for the fact Kirk is probably one of the more deserving people. He has looked pretty good so far and his ring work is a bit higher than most of our other talents.

SK: "Well I will have to say I wasn't expecting that. You really do keep yourself busy."

AL: "And I am not done yet, kiddo. I got something in the works for a few months, but don't worry about that for now. How about we figure out where to fit in Mosher and knock out the rest of the plans for the show?"

Talk about a big step. Never could I imagine 4C would be up for working with us. Art really does have good connections after all his years in the business. I just hope we aren't being a financial drain on him at this point because right now I keep seeing hope that the company will survive and I want to be right.

Fearless Blue is already in the ring when Mosher comes in and ignores his opponent. He instead seems to address the small crowd gathered.

Mosh: "What is this? Ten people at most? I am used to performing in front of a thousand people! You people should be kissing these boots that a star of my caliber is here. Now bring on my opponent."

He seems not to realize Fearless Blue is said opponent and looks at him oddly.

Mosh: "Uh? No autographs. What is the matter, kiddo. You look all slack jawed. Do you have something to say?"

FB: "Aww shucks. I guess I can say howdy and something else. FEAR THE FEARLESS!"

Fearless Blue vs Mosher

This match is as bad as most would expect, but in a way both competitors manage to make it better than perhaps it had any right to be. Sure they are both green and have no idea really when it comes to psychology, but they have good timing working with one anything and there is a bit of a natural flow at least between their spots. Mosher controls most of the match, but Blue makes a late comeback and manages to hit his Sky Twister Press to defeat the visiting 4C competitor.

Roger Monteiro vs Rex Reeves vs Buck Graham

All three competitors haven't had the best of luck since arriving in AAW. In this case at least one of them will finally taste victory as the trio are given a short match to allow them all to get a few spots in to showcase their strengths while minimizing weaknesses. Monteiro looks to have the match in the bag and ready to put Graham away, but Rex runs in, dropkicks Monteiro off the top turnbuckle then climbs up himself to deliver a flying headbutt to Buck Graham.

Ricochet Ramone, Austin Smooth and Venus make their way to the ring. The trio look smug as they talk amongst themselves a moment before Ramone speaks up.

RR: "You are welcome by the way. We almost had a worse champion than Sky King last month and I saved you all that pain. All I know is it will be me that takes that belt and well....if not me."

AS: "I will do it. In fact we have a perfect plan. The plan that will make sure me and Ramone will be on top of AAW for a very long time. First we just have to take out the trash."

RR: "Appleby, your win was a fluke and nothing more. And then you decide to bring Taylor Kidd in as a partner in hopes of beating us? You both may as well just give up now."

Ricochet Ramone and Austin Smooth with Venus vs Tempest Appleby and Taylor Kidd

The matches keep improving as the show goes on. This one may have been even better if not for the fact Appleby and Kidd just don't seem to be on the same page. As a team they just seem like a mess and there are several mistakes. It is a pretty even matchup for awhile, but Venus starts to get involved as a distraction and it allows the team of Ramone and Smooth to take control. Appleby is nullified for the most part and Kidd is kept away as the cocky duo work him over. Appleby tries to save his partner, but Austin keeps him at bay while Ramone climbs up and nails the Ricochet Senton on Kidd to get the pinfall.

Cal Sanders vs Brimstone

A surprisingly good match where Cal Sanders shows just how good of a performer he truly is. He brings out the best of Brimstone and the match comes off as watchable and competitive with Brimstone actually getting a good amount of offense in. Sanders fights back and uses his technical skills to eventually overcome Brimstone and in the end he nails the Frog Splash to pick up another win.

Sky King vs Kirk Drury

A serviceable main event between the top ring worker and a upcoming talent that shows promise. Kirk is more of a pure wrestler and uses that to his advantage to ground Sky King and also punish him with some suplex variations. The champ fights back several times and the two trade momentum. Drury manages to lock on the Scorpion Deathlock at one point and Sky King barely makes it to the ropes. Several near falls follow, but Sky King starts to get a second wind and fights back. A big kick to the jaw drops Drury and Sky King hits with the Sky High Splash for extra measure.

Sky King barely gets a moment to celebrate before finding Austin Smooth and Ricochet climbing into the ring. He looks ready to fight, but the pair make not move to attack. Instead Ramone addresses the champion.

RR: "Oh we aren't here for a fight tonight, but next month...."

He trails off and both he and Austin grin at one another before Ramone speaks again.

RR: "You are a fighting champ. One of the best! That was sarcasm by the way. How about we make a deal. Me and Austin are the future here and we want a shot at that title. We got an idea and it is time to see if you will man up and accept it."

AS: "Let me explain it to you nice and slowly, Kingster. Find yourself a tag partner for next month. Make sure it is a good one because you two would be facing us. We know there aren't two people here that are better as a team so we got this in the bag."

SK: "Get to the point and stop wasting my time. What does this have to do with the title?"

AS: "Now now. Calm down there. Don't want to get your heart rate going up, old man. I'll make this nice and simple. We win, me and Ramone can pick whenever we want to face you for the title. If we lose, I guess we will just beat everyone up until the officials have no choice to give us what we want."

RR: "Our time is now and we don't feel like embarrassing everyone because we are nice guys. So what do you say? Accept and make it painless? Or turn us down and see what we might do?"

Sky King doesn't look intimidated. If anything he looks amused by it all as he looks between the two.

SK: "You both want shots? Well if you want a fight you got one. You only had to ask and I would have faced either of you. If you want to do it in such a convoluted way though I will face you in a tag match. I got a partner in mind too. See you twits next month."

Sky King slips out of the ring and leaves Austin and Ramone talking to one another as they both seem to already be planning for what comes next.

Sky King's Thoughts

I don't like talking. I didn't really think the last bit was needed. I would prefer just to let my work do the talking and face whoever Art wants me to face. The last bit felt like too much without making so much sense, but whatever. I guess it is in a way to keep me from defending month to month and run out of viable challengers. Cal and Brimstone delivered a good match and we learned to keep Appleby and Kidd away from teaming together again. They were just an awkward pairing, but at least Ramone and Austin shows some promise. If we get a tag division they could do well with some more experience. Kirk did well as we could have hoped in a main event environment and perhaps a few months down the line we will do that dance again and see what sort of match we can put on. Will be interesting to see what 4C has planned for him as he will be on their show in a few days. No increase in fans, but also no loss. We just have to keep chugging along and hope more people start to show up.

Looking Ahead

http://i.imgur.com/mGogoVN.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/TXiLZpb.jpg

A late Saturday night hanging out with Art Lawson and seeing him get a bit on the tipsy side can be amusing at times. The man holds his liquor pretty well so you know he has been hitting it hard when he starts to act a bit more on the goofy side while doing his best to keep a straight face.

AL: "So what did ya think?"

We just got finished with a video we got from 4C. Troy was nice enough to send us the match that Kirk participated in that featured him against Nathanial Casino, Jason Thunder and Hudson Drake as well.

SK: "Not bad. Always a bit hard to tell in multiple man matches. Kirk is doing fine and I think it was a good learning experience for him to be in front of so many people."

AL: "Troy said he was very professional and would welcome him back. He has some interest on a few other guys. Kidd, Ramone and Appleby are names he gave me. I think I have an idea forming in my head and I am just looking through Troy's boys to see who I want to trade for."

It still blows my mind a bit we are working with someone so much bigger. Mosher might not be a huge name, but he at least is someone a bit more well known than most of our roster. More importantly maybe people will see our talent and I turn decide to check us out. Kirk was a good person to send over first. A good guy and a pretty good worker that is pretty adaptable.

SK: "So about the tag match. You sure it is a good idea?"

AL: "It was perhaps a last minute decision and a bit rushed, but really I didn't want to run out of guys for you to face so quickly. I am going to have to sneak in stuff like that time to time. Maybe even have you face one of the 4C boys in the future too. I got some ideas at least. Going to experiment some the next few months. We have to see who we can possibly move the title to. Right now the only one I am fully comfortable with would be Cal."

SK: "I am more than fine passing it to him. I mean look what he did with Brimstone. He isn't exactly the most sound worker."

AL: "True, but I still want to see who else has what it takes. I am also thinking of bringing in one or two more people pretty soon."

More people? Maybe we aren't leaking money as bad as I thought or Art is just doing his best to keep things fresh. Sometimes it is hard to do that with only twelve people. We already have had Kirk and Monteiro twice and it feels like Ramone and Appleby is becoming a staple. At least in the latter's case it is pretty much the one feud we have. Looks like the payoff is coming soon too.

With a stretch I finally get up and bite back a yawn. As fun as it has been it is getting too late and a pain in my shoulder hasn't been kind to me getting a good night's rest.

SK: "Well I am sure you will find some suitable people. It feels most are working out so far. Need anything else before I go, old man?"

Art just laughs and grins before shaking his head.

AL: "Careful, you are becoming an old man yourself. Meet with me next weekend and we'll finish up plans for the next show."

SK: "Will do. Will do."

Sky King and Tempest Appleby vs Ricochet Ramone and Austin Smooth

Ramone and Smooth seem to have sort of cohesion -- King/Appleby don't.

Also Appearing

Kirk Drury vs Buck Graham

"Kick Ass" has the potential to be big -- but he needs time. Graham is arguably the worst worker in the C-Verse.

Brimstone vs Roger Monteiro

Monteiro gets the rub -- don't know why, but Brimstone is being "phased out a bit" while Monterio is in favor.

Taylor Kidd vs Cal Sanders

Sanders gets the dub here.

Fearless Blue vs Rex Reeves

Blue is on the rise, Reeves is on the decline -- this is honestly a toss-up, but I'll edge it to him on that.

Sky King and Tempest Appleby vs Ricochet Ramone and Austin Smooth

Setting up a title match.

Kirk Drury vs Buck Graham

Kirk is clearly the superior worker and he challenged for the title, so he's not going to lose against someone like Buck.

Brimstone vs Roger Monteiro

Monteiro finally gets his much needed win in AAW.

Taylor Kidd vs Cal Sanders

Cal is one of your top guys.

Fearless Blue vs Rex Reeves

Could go either way, in my opinion. I'll go with The Renegade Redneck.
