Sky King and Tempest Appleby vs Ricochet Ramone and Austin Smooth

Champions don´t tend to lose much in singles action simply because most of the tough matches would be for the belt and thus I always feel that challengers are more likely to win tag matches against the champ in order to make things look bit more even, and that will likely be the case here as well.

Also Appearing

Kirk Drury vs Buck Graham

Drury seems to be solid prospect while Buck certainly aren´t.

Brimstone vs Roger Monteiro

I feel that if Monteiro would be anythign else than a jobber, he would have won that three way match in last show and thus I go with Brimstone who at least have had bit of a character development even if he´s quite low on the pecking order as well.

Taylor Kidd vs Cal Sanders

Sanders is kept strong.

Fearless Blue vs Rex Reeves

If this would have been on the first card, I would likely had gone with Reeves but Blue is the one who has got more wins so far so might as well keep that up in order to make him look like legitimate threat.

Rex Reeves vs Fearless Blue

A short, fast paced bout starts the show off to try and get the fan's attention early. Given it seems to be the usual loyal fanbase they don't have to try too hard. Even so they take what time they have and both men hit their more flashy moves that ends with Fearless Blue hitting his Springboard Lariat at the end to put away Rex Reeves.

Winner: Fearless Blue

After the match Fearless Blue lingers in the ring and he seems a bit uncertain for a moment before speaking up.

FB: "If it ain't too much trouble, could mister Sky King come out here for a moment?"

http://i.imgur.com/TXiLZpb.jpg

Sky King comes out after a few moments with a look of curiousity mixed with amusement. He gets in the ring and nods to Fearless Blue as if telling the young man to continue.

FB: "Well howdy there, mister Sky King. I know yer a busy man an all, but ahh. I would sure like to ask to have a shot at that there shiny belt of yers."

Sky King raises a brow and then he lets out a chuckle before looking over Fearless Blue and replying.

SK: "I am pretty busy these days. Being a champion isn't easy. Do you feel like you are ready for that burden?"

FB: "I think I could handle it."

SK: "Well I'll tell you what. I got a big match tonight and you know I got some other guys chasing after me. Let me take care of them and we will see about getting you a shot."

FB: "Well shucks. That would be awful nice of ya. I would greatly appreciate it."

Sky King nods and he starts to leave, but Fearless Blue puts a hand on his shoulder. King turns back around and Fearless Blue just smiles.

FB: "And just so ya know. If we do get to have our dance just remember one thing. Fear the Fearless. Now have a nice day."

Kirk Drury vs Buck Graham

This match is more of a standard wrestling match without too many big time moves. If anything it is Kick Ass doing just that and Buck doing his best to sell the offense of his opponent. At least Kirk makes things quick and doesn't draw out the one sided match too long. He locks Buck in the Scorpion Deathlock and Buck quickly taps.

Roger Monteiro vs Brimstone

A bit of a sloppy bout between two of the younger members of the group. It is weird to think both have been a pro for at least five years. It obviously shows matches were few and far between before ending up in AAW and they are still trying to figure out just what they can do. Another short match that is rather spotty with Brimstone controlling most of it. He eventually gets Roger hefted up and delivers Ashes to Ashes.

Winner: Brimstone

Rating: 19

http://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/UET4tPr.jpg

Brimstone chases off the referee and stands over his fallen opponent after the match. He talks in a low, deep voice after delivering a few stomps to the unconscious Roger Monteiro.

Brim: "A reckoning is coming. No one seems to realize it and in doing so their fate is sealed. Ashes to ashes....dust to dust."

His words make little sense and perhaps are meant to be cryptic. He stares down at the fallen Monteiro a bit longer before moving along.

Cal Sanders vs Taylor Kidd

Cal Sanders has been someone that seems to bring the best out of everyone he faces. This might be the first case that he isn't able to do so. Kidd is trying his best at the same time, but something is just off and the two are mixing about as well as oil and water. The fact that there are a quite a few miscues and this still ends up being the best match so far goes to show just how valuable Cal can be. It seems they decide to end it early too before too many more mistakes are made. Cal overcomes one last flurry of offense and grounds Kidd long enough to hit his Frog Splash and get the win.

Winner: Cal Sanders

The team of Ricochet Ramone and Austin Smooth enter the ring with Venus in tow. The pair look very confident in their upcoming match and seem more than happy to brag.

RR: "Great choice in partner, Sky King. I guess you are blind on top of being a bad champion. Tempest Appleby is a has been just like you. Time to take you both to the old folks home tonight."

AS: "I think he just wants to lose that belt, Ramone. It obviously doesn't mean much to him. Can you believe he is considering giving that backwoods twit Fearless Blue a shot?"

RR: "He is obviously going senile at his old age. Good thing one of us will relieve him of that belt soon enough."

AS: "Too true. Now come out and take your beating, old men."

Ricochet Ramone and Austin Smooth with Venus vs Sky King and Tempest Appleby

The veterans didn't take being called old too kindly and they start off with the majority of offense. Smooth shows he can hang with the main eventers, but at the same time given King and Appleby are on one side it isn't too hard to deliver. Not to say Ramone and Smooth aren't holding up their end of match. It has a nice flow and it is far above and beyond what has happened on the rest of the card. The younger team isn't too proud to cheat either and that is what helps them often get the upper hand. Near the end Appleby is trying to mount a comeback when Venus causes a distraction and Ramone hits a low blow. Sky King tries to come in, but is intercepted by Smooth who takes him down and locks in the Smooth Hold. Sky King struggles but cannot help his partner, who is taken out by the Ricochet Senton.

Sky King's Thoughts

I feel like poor Taylor Kidd is having a string of bad luck. I am hoping he can bounce back from it and doesn't let the past two matches put him in a funk. I also almost want to ask Austin if he really has been in the business for such a short time. He needs some work on a few aspects, but he seems so far ahead of guys that have been in this business in years and as far as a the technical aspect of wrestling he might even give Cal a good run for his money. I felt it was a pretty weak undercard overall, but we are still bringing in the same group of people at least. Art has plans already in motion for next month and said something about a plan for July and August so I guess that means we are still doing well enough to stay open.

Daedalus is a Dick

http://i.imgur.com/TXiLZpb.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/pU77WOU.jpg

It has been a pretty typical and relaxing day. I hadn't gotten a chance to hang out with Cal lately so we met up to have some beers and play some darts. If anything it was a good excuse to just cut loose and bullshit about anything and everything. The problem is it isn't too far into the second beer when Cal brings up something I didn't expect.

CS: "So you ever miss ACPW?"

SK: "I guess in a way. Not so much now because Art keeps me busy and it has been a few months. I guess it did work out for the best that Daedalus wanted to go younger."

CS: "Younger? Isn't Rajah older than you?"

SK: "From 4C? I think so. I think he has two or three years on me. What does that have to do with anything?"

CS: "Uh....he works for ACPW now."

I was in mid throw when the words hit my ear. The dart went flying way off course and ended up in the wall near Cal who quickly decides to scoot his stool a bit away just to be safe.

SK: "Are you ****ing kidding me?"

CS: "No, I was reading it the other day. They signed Rajah and Frankie."

Son of a bitch. Did Art know about this? He works with Troy so he had to know. I admit I don't pay much attention to dirt sheets or read up on wrestling so while I would have found out eventually it probably would have been a few months from now.

SK: "So I guess age only matters in my case. I can't be-"

I am cut off when my phone begins to ring and I see the name. Son of a bitch. Does he have a telepathic link or something?

http://i.imgur.com/mGogoVN.jpg

AL: "Hey kiddo. I go-"

SK: "Did you know about Rajah and ACPW? Did you?"

AL: "I do, but why should we care?"

SK: "I....but what is the bullshit with this whole 'going younger' thing?"

AL: "Once again. Why should we care? We haven't worked for him in half a year and I think I have seen you happier than you have ever been working for them."

Does he always have to make sense? I am still angry, but what he just said does take the sting away a bit. I have been happy and I am still getting to do what I want. The silence must be enough to let Art know he managed to talk some sense into me.

AL: "That is what I thought. I just wanted you to know I got some 4C guys coming in July and I also will have two new hires by then. I got something fun planned. Now have fun doing whatever you are doing and we'll talk this weekend."

Before I could say anything else he hung up. I could just shake my head as Cal just looks at me with a raised brow.

CS: "You suddenly calmed down."

SK: "I'm still pissed, but dammit if Art isn't good at calming me. I think I am ready for a shot."

CS: "Sounds good to me! We'll finish this game and I will tell you the story where I had to wrestle Ron Greenhorn."

Oh god. Not Ron Greenhorn!

It's amazing how you're making so much out of so little. The Ramone/Smooth/Sky storyline really feels like an intense feud, and call me stupid, but I actually find Fearless Blue so sympathetic. Such a nice guy!

Glad you are enjoying how things are unfolding. Things are starting to wind down on current feuds and new ones will be popping up here and there. As for Fearless Blue, he is just a good old boy that wants to have fun, but at the same time he isn't going to be pushed around. Everyone has a good reason to fear the Fearless.

Nope, Blue won´t be the next champ.

Loser Leaves AAW

Ricochet Ramone vs Tempest Appleby

Bit early for either guy to leave so not sure what´s up with this one but Ramone is the one that I would keep in this situation so I go with him.

Also Appearing

Brimstone vs Rex Reeves

Brimstone is teh one doing something, even if that somethign is mumbling some cryptic words.

Austin Smooth vs Taylor Kidd

I figure that Smooth is more likely to challenge for the belt so he stays strong

Kirk Drury vs Cal Sanders

Drury is good but I don´t think he´s on Sanders level quite yet.

Buck Graham vs Roger Monteiro

Bottom of the barrel fight, Monteiro is the one getting his first (and perhaps only) win.

Roger Monteiro vs Buck Graham

These two go at it in an attempt to get their first win since joining AAW. It is a bit disjointed and the pair have little knowledge to get the match to flow properly. They just stick to performing a few high spots and Monteiro goes up top and comes crashing down with a big Eagle Chop to Buck's head.

Winner: Roger Monteiro

Rating: 19

http://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/rPnkrGm.jpg

Despite his match being later, Ramone comes out next and sort of shoos away the two men that just finished their match. He has a confident look for a man that might soon find himself without a job if he loses tonight.

RR: "Just a reminder to Sky King. I got a match coming my way and after I dispose of Tempest Appleby maybe I will just cash in. Heck, maybe I will cash in and take your title then end Appleby's career. Just remember I am coming for you and just watch your back."

He just winks and he slips out of the ring looking rather pleased with himself as he heads towards the back once more.

Rex Reeves vs Brimstone

Rex Reeves starts out strong and gets a few moves off before Brimstone starts to take control. Reeves serves as a good punching bag and sells the offense well enough to make Brimstone look strong in this match. Brimstone doesn't let the match last too long either as he soon puts the veteran away with an Ashes to Ashes.

Austin Smooth with Venus vs Taylor Kidd

It is starting to become commonplace when Kidd is involved, but something just seems off. Him and Austin just seem to have timing issues and don't work too well together. Unlike Cal Sanders, Smooth isn't as skilled to keep the match together so well and some parts seem rushed to get to the end. Despite the issues it still ends up being the best match so far as Smooth puts Kidd away with his Smooth Hold.

Winner: Austin Smooth

Cal Sanders vs Kirk Drury

The best match of the night by far, but it does involve two of the better ring workers so it is no real surprise. A good back and forth contest where Kirk uses precise strikes and punishing suplexes while Cal uses his ground game to keep himself in the match. In the end it just seems Cal has more gas in his tank and he just wears Kirk down to where he can get the advantage and eventually hit the Frog Splash.

Sky King © vs Fearless Blue

As much as Fearless Blue has been doing to try and improve this match goes to show he has a pretty good ways to go. Even with Sky King controlling the pace and keeping the flow of the match as smooth as he can there are obviously problems. It is just another case of two guys just not being able to mesh well, but at least in this case one of the men is Sky King. Compared to the previous title matches his is easily the weakest. Blue hits some big spots, but he never looks like he might get enough momentum to pull off the victory. Sky King eventually retains by putting Blue away with the Sky King Splash.

http://i.imgur.com/TXiLZpb.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/DLcYpsN.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/cVa73nF.jpg

Sky King barely has belt in hand before Austin Smooth comes sliding into the ring. The champ looks ready to fight, but Smooth puts up his hands and keep his distance while giving a predatory grin.

AS: "Oh I am not going to fight tonight. I just want to remind you last month you were locked in my Smooth Hold and couldn't escape. I already showed I could beat you. In fact I don't need to surprise you with my challenge. Next month I will take the title from you. You will find yourself in my Smooth Hold once more and I will continue to be undefeated here in AAW. See you next month, champ."

The last bit there is filled with venomous sarcasm. Smooth leaves the ring and just gives a bit of a finger waggle to Sky King as he and Venus retreat. Sky King remains in the ring and makes sure Austin is gone before he too leaves the ring.

Tempest Appleby vs Ricochet Ramone

It seems like it was a good choice to have this match go on last as it ends up being better than the championship one. Perhaps the only problem is the length seems to take its toll on Appleby and the portions near the end he is clearly running on fumes. Even so he and Ramone put on an acceptable match that ends up being better than their previous singles encounter. Both men are pulling out all the stops to get the win and Ramone tries to cheat whenever he thinks he can get away with it. Appleby looks about to get another surprise win like their last encounter, but Ramone escapes at the last moment and thumbs Appleby to eye. He plants the veteran with a running bulldog and hits the Ricochet Senton.

Ramone stands in the ring celebrating as a dejected Appleby seems to be fighting back tears as he rolls out of the ring. Ricochet Ramone taunts the veteran as Appleby covers his face and hangs his head. Ramone just mocks him more and taunts the fans as well and claiming he is the best.

Sky King's Thoughts

Feel a bit bad at not being able to help Fearless Blue more, but sometimes things can't be helped. I am a bit glad Art made the call to allow the main event to be Ramone and Appleby instead of me and Blue. Hopefully next month I can pull a better performance against Austin Smooth. Overall the show just felt weak aside from maybe the main event and Kick Ass/Cal match. Apparently Art has big plans for next month so we will see if we can bounce back.

The New Faces of AAW and The Plan

http://i.imgur.com/mGogoVN.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/TXiLZpb.jpg

SK: "So you invited me over a few days earlier than normal. What do you have?"

Given that he is all smiles I can only guess Art has some new crazy plan he is ready to put into action. It seems like our last show didn't do anything to put a damper in his mood.

AL: "Oh you know. I figured you would like to see the two newest members of our roster. That and I got some boys from 4C coming over next month. Three of them to be exact."

SK: "That...seems like a lot of new faces."

I managed to stop myself by saying it sounds expensive. I have learned talking about costs and money in general other than my own paycheck doesn't usually end too well.

AL: "Well it is needed. I am going to hold a little mini tournament. I got an idea to do it from watching some tapes of various promotions. Eight men, two four way elimination matches with the two winners facing off in August for the trophy. Five of our guys and three from 4C."

SK: "I...yeah. Pretty sure I have heard something like that happening before. It is....well it is different."

AL: "Damn right it is. We don't have a tag division and I don't think we are big enough for two titles so we'll do it as a yearly thing."

I have to admit it isn't a bad idea. It could be something that we can sort of make our own. Something unique about us that also makes people realize we aren't ACPW 2.0.

SK: "So are either of our new guys going to be in it?"

AL: "Nah, not this time. I am going to just put them in singles action. Ready to see who I got?"

SK: "Sure, hit me."

http://i.imgur.com/vufJQ7Y.jpg

AL: "First up we got Miller Fforde. Trained by Rip Chord and a pretty solid cruiserweight that had a falling out with Sam Keith. He walked out on MAW and has just been doing indy work for a few months."

SK: "Well if Rip got ahold of him he shouldn't be too bad in the ring too. Who is the other?"

http://i.imgur.com/VOgDuuy.jpg

SK: "Oh god....is that..."

AL: "The wrestler formerly known as Stretch the Chicken Boy. Fresh from a stint in OLLIE and back in Canada looking for work. He has a style a bit different than anyone else here too. More of a Japanese Junior even if he was working for a lucha libre company."

SK: "Is he any good? I mean I remember wrestling Stretch many years ago before ACPW and uh...yeah."

AL: "Look at it this way. He can't be any worse than some of our current guys? No knock on them mind. His time in Mexico has helped him though."

Well I didn't know what to expect and it seems Art did some research and could have pulled out some nice gems. Fforde I am not really familiar with, but if he is a Rip Chord student he should do quite well for himself. It will be interesting just to see how much Stre....err Disturbed has improved since I saw him several years back.

SK: "So with the three guys from 4C we are booking sixteen people, but half are in the tournament. And of course we know I am taking on Austin."

AL: "That's right. Bringing in Mosher, Zak Attack and Leftie Wilkes in from 4C. All of them will be in the tournament. So what do you say, kiddo? Ready to plan?"

SK: "Sign me up!"

Hmmm... I'm not 100% sure about this though.

Ricochet Ramone vs Mosher vs Rex Reeves vs Zak Attack

I see Ricochet as next in line to face your Champion...

Fearless Blue vs Roger Monteiro vs Leftie Wilkes vs Kirk Drury

...but not until he beats Drury in the final. Sky King seems to want the push the most talented wrestlers and your write-ups are tipping me off that Drury is more than capable.

Also Appearing

Brimstone vs Taylor Kidd

Losing appears to be Taylor Kidd's gimmick whereas winning is Brimstone's.

Disturbed vs Buck Graham

If I'm reading Sky King's chat with Art correctly, it would make sense to put this guy over.

Cal Sanders vs Miller Fforde

I'm a firm believer that some guys need to be kept at a certain level and Cal Sanders seems to be one of them. He's going to make a great first contender for your eventual heel champion.

AAW All Action Canadian Championship

Sky King © vs Austin Smooth

I feel that it isn´t a time for change just yet.

King of the High Fliers Semi Finals

Ricochet Ramone vs Mosher vs Rex Reeves vs Zak Attack

Ramone is the biggest name on this one.

Fearless Blue vs Roger Monteiro vs Leftie Wilkes vs Kirk Drury

Might as well give one of the 4C guys a win here in order to promote them as decent threats.

Also Appearing

Brimstone vs Taylor Kidd

Brimstone has got few wins lately but I still feel that he´s slighly below Kidd on ladders.

Disturbed vs Buck Graham

Graham doesn´t win.

Cal Sanders vs Miller Fforde

Sanders will make Fforde look good and will likely give decent momentum to him too but I doubt Fforde would get the win here.

Taylor Kidd vs Brimstone

In one way Kidd's bad luck seems to have gone away at least for one month. He doesn't seem to be having too many problems working with Brimstone other than the glaring fact he is having to work with Brimstone. At least both men play to what strengths they have in this short match and Brimstone continues his little streak, pummeling Taylor Kidd for a bit before putting him away with Ashes to Ashes.

Winner: Brimstone

Disturbed vs Buck Graham

Buck Graham continues to be the resident punching bag of AAW. This time he is going against a newcomer in Disturbed. A rather erratic fellow who has a bit of a unique style among the performers in AAW. The masked man showcases a mixture of technical prowess and a few high flying moves on Buck Graham. He climbs up to the top turnbuckle one more time at the end and delivers a double foot stomp to finish off Graham.

Disturbed lingers in the ring as he looks about the crowd a bit and sort of speaks a bit of gibberish.

Dis: "Stretching chickens. Used to stretch chickens but no more. She said she would cure me. I'm here for her. I want to.......peace want....will find....fire and...."

He trails off and sort of wanders around the ring. It is hard to tell where exactly he is gazing off to due to the mask and after some muttering he finally leaves talking about 'finding her'.

Zak Attack and Rex Reeves are already in the ring when Ramone arrives. It looks like Mosher is nowhere to be seen and after a few moments of waiting Ramone speaks up.

RR: "It looks like someone was smart and decided to show up. You, loser boy from 4C. Where is your friend?"

ZA: "He uh wasn't really invited. I guess someone is replacing him."

RR: "Well who is the replacement?"

Zak and Rex both shrug and then emerging from the back comes the replacement competitor

"El Tempest, numero uno!"

RR: "What the hell? That is just Tempest Appleby in a ma-AIEE!"

Ramone doesn't get to finish his accusation as the new masked competitor attacks him and the match starts.

El Tempest vs Zak Attack vs Ricochet Ramone vs Rex Reeves

Bodies start to fly early and the larger than normal crowd has plenty to try and keep track of at the start. At least after a few moments Ramone manages to put Reeves away quickly with a surprise rollup and bring the number of competitors down to three. Zak Attack shows a good amount of tenacity and hangs with both Ramone and the newcomer El Tempest who has a rather familiar move set. El Tempest even uses the Tumbleweed Elbow Drop on Zak to finish him off and bring the match down to two. Ramone attacks El Tempest viciously and several times tries to rip off the mask. He might be too worried about the mask that he starts to make mistakes. El Tempest starts to come back and Ramone goes down. Tumbleweed Elbow Drop again! The newcomer wins!

Fearless Blue vs Leftie Wilkes vs Kirk Drury vs Roger Monteiro

This match is a bit longer than the first and more competitive. Each man is getting a good amount of offense in and Fearless Blue starts to wow the crowd with some impressive moves and at one point he dives out of the ring and takes out all the competitors. The group soon recovers and it is Kirk Drury who just starts to go ham and abuse everyone. He tosses Leftie out of the ring then nails Monteiro in the chin with a big kick and puts him away. He then grabs and nails a German suplex on Fearless Blue with a bridge and gets a pin. Wilkes has recovered by that point and he quickly rolls up and surprised Drury while he was getting back up and holds the tights and get the win.

Cal Sanders vs Miller Fforde

Miller Fforde gets a much tougher task for his first match in AAW as he faces off with Cal Sanders who has been on quite the roll since losing his first two matches. Fforde looks to be up to the task though and does well in keeping up with Sanders. The two exchange momentum several times and if anything Fforde gains the respect of both the veteran and the fans for the fact he lasts so long and even looks like he may win at times. His debut ends up being spoiled in the end as Cal Sanders ends up regaining the advantage and taking out Fforde with the Frog Splash.

Austin Smooth bumps Cal intentionally in passing on the way to the ring and gives the veteran a cocky grin. He helps Venus into the ring before entering himself and looking over the crowd. If he has any butterflies he is doing well in hiding the fact.

AS: "I told you all back in January that I would climb to the top with ease. No one has been able to beat me and for those of you that were here two months ago you know what the outcome will be. I know I can put Sky King in my Smooth Hold and I know in the end he will be forced to tap or he will pass out. Either way I don't care. What I care about is I will be champion and the age of Austin Smooth will begin!"

Sky King © vs Austin Smooth with Venus

The fans are treated to a main event that outdoes the previous two title defenses. Austin Smooth may still be a rookie, but he doesn't wilt under the pressure of being in the main event and in fact seems to thrive and put on a good show with the champ. Several times it looks like he might even walk away with the title as he keeps Sky King grounded a majority for the match. His only problem is he just can't seem to lock on the Smooth Hold and Sky King keeps managing to either reach the ropes or slip out at the last second. It is clearly frustrating Smooth and he starts to make mistakes someone with more experience might not make. Sky King is more than ready to capitalize and even a distraction from Venus can't seem to save her man. Smooth lasts a good seventeen minutes before finally falling victim to the Sky King Splash.

Sky King's thoughts

Now that is was a good way to bounce back from the past month. I am really surprised by Austin's ability and it is hard to think he is only twenty years old. He has a bright future and he is taking the ball and running with it. Really impressed with Miller Fforde too and what he was able to do with Cal Sanders. Those two just worked really well together and even in a loss Fforde showed he will be just fine. Disturbed looked good too, but it is hard to tell just how good given he faced off with Buck. Art also pulled a fast one on even me with El Tempest. Didn't even know the switch was happening until right before the match. El Tempest and Leftie should make for an interesting final next month.
