I know this is a broken record situation, but The ThunderVerse has is the one thing that keeps me going with TEW nowadays. So thank you all for your incredible work on this database.

And now I pose a question... What are the chances that Chase Paige would want to resurrect WWWE? I know in his bio it says he would either take a job somewhere else, or buy his own promotion, but I wondering if he'd take on the task of trying to reclaim the wrestling world via WWWE... I've got this scenario in my head that both Paige siblings combine, and bring back their Fathers greatest creation in an attempt to "destroy" AWE due to the whole Timothy Hawk thing.

Then I set the game up, sign my roster, set up broadcasting, even get as far as running one show... Then I think... What if this isn't what Chase would do? What if Chase would start up his own project? Would he do something in the vein of Lucha Underground? So many questions... which is why I both love and hate the ThunderVerse sometimes.

So I guess I'm asking for thoughts on the matter?

I'm pretty pleased with how my latest game is going so I thought I'd share.

After his departure from AWF, Casey Skym wandered around the indy scene for a bit before he struck out in an unexpected direction: Partnering with several investors to form the Zombie Entertainment Network, with its flagship show being ZEN Art Of Wrestling. (It's too good a name not to use)

ZEN is run in the Lucha Underground style, seasonal format with angles given a cinematic flair. Basically, it's less a wrestling promotion than it is a TV show about a wrestling promotion.

Each season consists of 22 hour-long episodes (with a three-month hiatus between)and a special 2-hour finale in May.

The in-story premise for ZEN is that Skym has persuaded the leaders of four powerful crime families to financially support his Temple, where wrestlers from around the world fight for money and glory. In exchange, these gang leaders can settle their grudges inside the ring, saving them from costly and bloody turf wars.

Skym is portrayed as blood-lusting but generally well-meaning. He doesn't want any shenanigans getting in the way of his violence. Unfortunately, he often butts heads with Tatiana, who has been sent by the four families to represent their interests in the Temple.

Some of the stars of our show include VIP, who plays the character of a prize fighter, a mercenary who cares only about cracking skulls and cashing checks, and who does so on behalf of an East Coast gang called The Family.

Then there's Hell Cat, who was a policewoman in Mexico City until her family was gunned down before her eyes. That tragedy led her to don the mask and become a luchadora, fighting in underground fight clubs while tracking down the person who gave the kill order. She knows it's one of the four gang leaders involved with the Temple and she's determined to find out which one so she can exact bloody revenge.

Shay Kinsella was happily retired from professional wrestling, but when he saw how his beloved Urbana, Illinois, was fighting a losing battle with despair and blight, he reluctantly took up an offer from the leader of the Fallen Angels biker gang to fight on their behalf in exchange for the protection and improvement of his hometown.

Johnny Hollywood was living the high life, all champagne wishes and caviar dreams. But his prodigal lifestyle wasn't cheap, and he soon found himself deep in debt to some bad men in Las Vegas. Now he fights in the Temple, hoping to pay off that debt and perhaps even make a profit while he's at it.

Everyone believed that Wilson Hancock was past his prime, an aging second-string star who would never be a champion in a major promotion. But then the leader of a brutal Texas crime family found Hancock in a bingo hall somewhere and made him an offer he couldn't refuse: Fight for them and get one last chance at greatness.

Jess Hart had done it all. She was the most respected woman wrestler on the planet, she'd won titles in every company she had been in. But it wasn't enough. When her father refused to name her as the heir to his legacy (and wrestling school) she snapped. She realized it wasn't enough to be the best woman wrestler, she had to be the best WRESTLER. Now she's come to the Temple to prove she's just that and to force her father to recognize that SHE is his greatest legacy.

Francine (played by Sissy/Diane Stone) is just some eye candy, the ring announcer who calls wrestlers down to the ring and looks good doing it. Right? Of course not! In truth, she is actually an undercover FBI agent who has infiltrated the Temple in order to learn who Skym's employers really are and then bring them to justice. But she plays a very dangerous game...

Finally, there's the Ghost Rider. A dark force of nature resurrected from the dead by persons unknown for reasons unknown. All that's known is that when he shows up, someone is about to go for their Last Ride.

So I only just now decided to explore the thundercerse a bit and it seems really cool. I'm noticing a few characters though that seem to be real world guys just under different names. Or at least inspired by real world guys (terry thunder for example). Are there any other guys who are inspired by real world wrestlers in the mod?

I've been playing AJJ, which is my first Japanese company since probably like TEW2010. I'm enjoying myself. I can still kinda run storylines and have some head-canon going, but I don't have to worry about creative angles or meta-gaming too much. The emphasis on in-ring performance makes it much easier then your Sports Entertainment companies.

I also like how AJJ's roster is split by stables. It makes me feel like it has an MMA vibe where every trains out of a different camp. It also makes it fun to make new 'camps' or trade people in and out. I never would have really taken this kind of route in any other 'verse', but I feel like I might use it a lot now in future games.

My thought is that Chief would like what the AWF is but see potential for more. So I will gradually get rid of some of the vets, especially those with negative personalities. They will slowly be replaced with newer signings, to form a second generation of AWF talent, now that the first generation has made it to the top.

I'm working on a DRAGON game. I am loving playing with HCG. The AWC tie-in is excellent in this version and I have given the American and World Tag Titles to workers in the company (Caleb Adonis & The Furlong Brothers, respectively). Actually, pushing Adonis led indirectly to my first worker ever requesting their release. Cordero Calderon didn't like that I kept scripting his interviews, as I think Jerry King seems a bit the control freak. He gave his notice a week before our January PPV, Brand New Year, and summarily lost his return match with Adonis for the American title, which he put his career on the line to get.

TEW10?). Basically, most people who are 'names' represent a stable/crew/team. People who aren't members of a stable are either young prospects who haven't been "discovered" yet or people not worth caring about.

Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this dataset. There are several companies to choose from and they each have workers worth getting to know (if you're new). My current save has me not using 'passport' and using alliance loans and working agreements to gain access to workers I want. I love the fact that the world has TONS of young female workers who want to wrestle but often have to valet (or tons of young talent PERIOD).

I'm currently running PEWWA (for the challenge) and in an alliance with AJJ, GDR, and AWW with a working agreement with AMAZON (they wouldn't join the alliance, prolly because AWW was already in it). I'm building my midcard around Isy Dobson and angling at tagging her with November Rayne. I'm trying to avoid bringing Jess Hart in (though I'm planning to get Cassidy Gilmour, once we hit Cult). Main problem I'm having though is finding a suitable figurehead. Right now, it's between Gretta Brittaine or Mai-Li Kato (once we get more prestige than HONOUR) but I may be a bit spoiled for choice.

I created my own Fed names Combat Wrestling Federation (CWF). Chaise Paige is the owner. I started him with $5M in the bank, but kept Popularity in the low 40's. Figured his name alone would give the company some interest. I did use the editor to make Lois Paige available.

I started off with Chaise as a Face and part of a 3-man Announcer team with Skooter Longhorn and Bobby V. while also being the owner. Lois is the backstage interviewer.

Roster is...

Adam Massey

Buff Norton

CJ Trends

Cole Younger

Eddy Orion

Ethan Epic

Fergus Storm

Jack America

Jayden Cole

Jimmy Walker

Kevin Aluka

Kirk Burton

Lenny Rhodes

Lobo

Mark Gunn

Mattias Taylor

Nathan Noland

Rory O'Connor

Seven Brandt

Shay Kinsella

Stacks Armstrong

Arik Payne & LB Slayer

Bailey Hall & Chase Hampton

Frightening & Scaremare

The story is going to be for Chaise and Lois to turn Heel. They hired Travis Stine with a secret goal of him causing havok among the entire roster. He is currently feuding with Buff and put him out of commission for a couple of weeks.

Upon turning heel, the TV show will be named Lockdown. When the show starts, the doors are locked and no one can get in or out. Titles are more than just status symbols, they also mean you get paid. Win/Loss records really mean something as workers are ranked in their divisions. DQs count as a loss. That doesn't mean weapons, interference, etc is discouraged, you just better not get caught.

With a ranking system and workers being locked in during a show, all kinds of chaos can ensue. Workers need to make careful alliances and watch their back. If you have a match and can't wrestle, it's a loss and you move down the chart.

Chase is the evil owner and Lois is the evil producer.

Opinion time folks!?!

Lets say that Terry Thunder were to open his Thunder Championship Wrestling promotion. And lets say he goes to the trouble of assembling his debut roster, and gets everything to where he see's fit... (Here's where I'm looking for opinions) There's no way a man like Terry Thunder is going to run an indy, is there? Terry Thunder will require TV, or what's the use of even starting this thing in the first place, right?

And secondly... Would Terry start cold on weekly TV, or would Terry in all his manliness throw together a Pay Per View that leads into weekly TV?

While I know Terry is the T-Verse equivalent of the mighty Hulk, and while Hulk did his touring gimmick, for some reason I can't see Terry doing anything short of TV.

Thoughts?

I mentioned this in Sig’s thread asking for opinions on who should win. I’ve been toying with a T-Verse save for a bit, but don’t want to abandon a current save (WCW in 2002) just yet and can’t quite settle on which company to go with. I’m totally overthinking this and while any advice is appreciated, I’m more posting just because I can’t play the game right now and I figure any T-Verse discussion is good….

Since I don’t find the WWE all that engaging at this point, I tend to watch a ton of older stuff. But I recently got into Progress Wrestling, which is the first indy company I’ve really managed to dive into fully. I’ve watched Chapter 1 through 46 and hope to catch up completely pretty soon. Love the storytelling, the characters, the way humor is mixed in, and even the “British Strong Style” aspect. So of course, doing an “American Strong Style” company that uses a pretty hard hitting style but still has dynamic characters. That led to me mulling something I haven’t done before, which start a custom company. But… I also love both the AWF and PWI lol

AWF – they have some workers I love (Hawk, South, Cross, Dolla) but also some midcarders that I’m pretty meh about. Some of the newer additions, especially FAW talent, are quite appealing. And tons of great T-Verse prospects, of course, that can be hired. The easy solution is to move some of the talent I don’t like out and elevate the younger talent. That can happen quite rapidly if one wants. I just always hesitate to make mass changes to a company – even though it kinda fits where the AWF is at the moment. I also tend to get annoyed at booking the AWF Women’s Division, because I don’t love an eye-candy division. I want legit wrestlers. And there are plenty, but again, it means turnover. So with the AWF, I need to gradually transition the things I don’t love and have the patience not to overdo it in terms of how quick. Tempting to bring back Casey Skym as my user character, since it was Trillion who fired him.

PWI – I never gave a hoot about PWI for the first few T-V editions, then I gave them a try on the last version. And quite enjoyed them. I like a more serious approach (part of why I’ve always loved TCW) and they certain fit the “American Strong Style” label. Love some of their workers, particularly Eli Morton. One of my T-Verse faves. Can still run storyline and angles. My hangup with PWI has always been Allman and his anti-SE. Balancing between how I want to run the company and how I think he wants his company to be, whether I’m using him as a UC or someone else. I’ve always seen Allman as the type who doesn’t want a ton of personality to show through – the mega talented van Holt brothers, who need a mouthpiece, being the prototype of what he wants. He would LOVE North of the Border Pro Wrestling. Even though there are some PWI workers with some personality, I’ve seen that more as unavoidable rather than something Allman wants. Perhaps I’m too strict in my interpretation of Allman, but it just seems to fit him. And I always find it a bit tough to balance how I want to book and what feels “right” in regard to Allman’s vision.

Custom Company – so I toyed around with this, using Progress Wrestling as it was simpler than the other option I considered, which was the Evolve Wrestling company already in the data, but with some tweaks. The idea is Casey Skym opening it up, with some financial backers. I opened it at Cult sized, which means it starts out bigger than Dragon. That’s not necessarily realistic, but I like that you can sign workers to Written deals – the reality of losing your top talents is one of the main reasons I don’t typically like running smaller companies. At that size, the company can get both PPV and TV deals right away. Tons of talent to sign, but not too many have the level of popularity that’s really needed. So the intent was to sign a few veteran stars – Shay Kinsella, Adam Massey, and a couple of others. But they would be used to make stars out of other workers – Brandt, Graves, etc. The product would fit between the AWF and PWI – serious in-ring and serious storylines, but engaging characters and a bit of humor. What made me be abandon the first attempt was realizing I needed to debut an entire roster’s worth of workers with new gimmicks, and someone important having their gimmick tank could be a mess. More realistically, I should probably start them at Regional and accept that anyone I build into a major star might leave before I hit Cult and can lock them down to a Written deal.

All three options have merit and would be fun. I just need to pick one and run with it.

Has anyone ever used a woman's division solely for eye candy, and to calm the crowd/work the crowd? Does it work well in the Thunderverse? I was planning on running this for a low cult promotion in America. The thing is I was very surprised with how few available woman workers had high sex appeal ratings. Even including the woman with exclusive deals there aren't that many. I feel like I would have to use a woman division for this as the male wrestlers I have are going to greatly outshine the women. There are only a few good woman wrestlers in the Thunderverse.
