Bret Hart is in the ring, with some bad news: the 1-2-3 Kid has sadly not been able to recover fully after being injured at the hands of Jim Neidhart, and thus will be unable to compete tonight. He valiantly wanted to fight nonetheless, but the doctors wouldn't clear him.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bam Bam Bigelow And Irwin R. Schyster (w/Ted DiBiase) vs. The Headshrinkers © (w/Afa and Lou Albano)</strong></p><p>

Bigelow began the match by overpowering Fatu, but The Headshrinkers gained the advantage when Bigelow missed an Avalanche attempt. Schyster tagged in, and Bigelow pulled down the ropes to allow I.R.S. to throw Samu out of the ring. Outside the ring, Bigelow attacked Fatu with Schyster's briefcase. Samu performed a diving headbutt, but he was unable to get the pinfall. Ted DiBiase distracted the referee, which prompted Albano to protest. Meanwhile, Afa entered the ring to attack Bigelow. The referee saw Afa in the ring and awarded the match to Bigelow and Schyster as the result of a disqualification.</p><p>

Jim Cornette is now in the ring, being booed even before he opens his mouth. He informs the Canadian bums in the crowd that they should feel blessed, because they're witnesses to a very special occation - one they will tell their children about, should the world be so unlucky that they'll actually have any. Because this... is the WWF debut of the Stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' n' dealin' son of a gun! The one and only <em>true</em> Nature Boy... <span style="font-size:18px;">Buddy Landel!</span> The crowd boos untill Landel, dressed in a fancy new (and expensive-looking) suit, speaks:</p><p> </p><p>

Landel: "You people should understand one thing. And that is that I'm a world champion who has been looking for a promotion to happen to! And now I've found it! I've been biding my time, waiting for the right opportunity to arrive. And now, with the help from my new manager and agent, Mr. Jim Cornette here, the time has come. Thanks to Cornette and "The Nature Boy" Buddy Landel, Michael Jordan is now only the *second*-highest earner in the world of sports today. I've got the money, I've got the talent and I sure as hell got the drive to become World Heavyweight Champion! You see, I don't start at the bottom of the ladder to work my way up - I go straight for the top! So once these silly Hart boys are done with their little family feud, I'll be there to take on whoever is left standing! Woooo!"</p><p>

<strong>Razor Ramon (w/Randy Savage) vs. Diesel © (w/Shawn Michaels)</strong></p><p>

Early in the next match, Diesel threw Razor Ramon out of the ring, allowing Michaels to remove the turnbuckle padding. Savage argued with Michaels about his interference, drawing the referee's attention. Michaels seized the opportunity to attack Ramon behind the referee's back. Diesel used two big boots and a series of submission holds to maintain the advantage. When he tried to throw Ramon into the unprotected turnbuckle, Savage pointed out the missing padding to the referee, who stood in the way to prevent the move. Soon after, Diesel tried to ram Ramon into the turnbuckle, but Ramon escaped and pushed Diesel into the turnbuckle. Ramon kept his momentum by performing a bulldog, a scoop slam, and a superplex. When Michaels tried to get involved again, Savage chased him around the outside of the ring, eventually chasing him all the way out to the back. While the referee was distracted later in the match however, Michaels entered the ring through the crowd and performed a Superkick while Diesel held Ramon. Diesel pinned Ramon to win the match and retain the Intercontinental Championship.</p><p>

After the match, Michaels and Diesel decided to add insult to injury (literally speaking) as they assaulted Ramon. Diesel hit him with the title belt after which Michaels performed another Superkick - followed by a Jackknife Powerbomb onto the announcetable! Shortly after this, Savage re-appeared with a chair to chase away the "Heartbreak Kid" and "Big Daddy Cool". <strong>Bret Hart And Dynamite Kid vs. Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart</strong></p><p>

In the beginning, Dynamite and Owen brawled on the floor and Neidhart no-sold Bret. Dynamite came out and made the save but was caught by Neidhart in a bearhug. Bret tried to save his partner but he also became victim of a bearhug by Neidhart. Owen came off the top rope and hit Bret with a diving double axe handle. He hit Bret another double axe handle from the top rope and a running knee for a near-fall. Owen applied a chinlock on Bret but Bret hit Owen with shoulder blocks. He came off the ropes where Neidhart assaulted him. Neidhart got a tag and then he beat on Bret and locked in a bearhug where he took Bret to the mat for several near-falls. Neidhart took him in their corner and then tagged Owen. Owen connected with a neckbreaker on Bret and spat on Dynamite, forcing him to get into the ring. Owen hit a belly to belly suplex on Bret for a near-fall. Bret tagged in Dynamite who hit Owen with a high knee for a near-fall. He locked in a Sleeper Hold on Owen, who fell to the knees but then got up and drove Dynamite's head in the corner. Neidhart tagged in and was very angry. Dynamite hit him with an eye rake and worked over Neidhart. Owen took Bret's title belt and hit Dynamite in the back with it. Owen got a tag, calmed down Neidhart and got a near-fall on Dynamite which ended after Bret made the save. Owen went for another cover and Bret came in again and chased Owen away. Neidhart came in and locked a chokehold on Dynamite before tagging Owen. Owen and Dynamite knocked out each other. Dynamite tagged Bret. Bret connected with a corner clothesline on Owen and then assaulted Neidhart. He hit a double axe handle from the second rope on Owen, sending him to the floor. Bret then locked on a Sharpshooter, but Neidhart broke it up. As Bret argued with Neidhart, Owen clotheslined Bret from behind, who accidentally knocked down the referee as he fell. Owen went for Bret's title again and hit Bret with it before Dynamite entered the ring to make the save, knocking down Owen and throwing Neidhart out of the ring. He then climbed the top rope to perform his signature Diving Headbutt on Owen, but Owen quickly grabbed the WWF World Heavyweight Championship, still lying besides him, and held it up as Dynamite's head came flying down. The referee managed to get back on his feet just in time to count Owen's pinfall on Dynamite.</p><p>

<p>The magnificent prize for the moustache of Tom Selleck will be the following:</p><p>

You get to choose an entry in the upcoming cruiserweight tournament held by WWF. The requirements will be as follows:</p><p> </p><p>

- He must be available to sign/trade for/use (so no WCW workers, not that they'd be good enough anyway).</p><p>

- He must have at least 50 high flying or 50 mat wrestling.</p><p>

- Max weight is middleweight.</p><p> </p><p>

If you wish to use this prize, please do so as quickly as possible. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

- This week, The Sharpshooter was sent an interesting tidbit by GWF announcer Craig Johnson, who tells a story of him being rejected for a job as announcer for WCW - because Eric Bischoff was intimidated by the thought of having a much taller guy sitting next to him. Makes you think...</p><p> </p><p>

- WWF is said to be very pleased that their new series of shorter, smaller PPVs was off to a great start doing as many buys as one of WCW's flagship PPVs, headlined by what they called "The Match of The Century".</p><p> </p><p>

- Vince McMahon escaped his conspiracy (to distribute anabolic steroids) trial unscathed. After dismissing duplicate charges against Titan Sports and Vince McMahon, there were three charges left against Vince. The two charges related to distributing steroids to Hulk Hogan were tossed out because the government failed to show any evidence that this action occurred in the trial district. The final conspiracy charge went to a jury, with a "Not Guilty" verdict being returned after 16 hours of deliberation. Vince is talking about suing the government for harassment. The government can still try to get Vince on the distribution charges in another district court, but has to hurry before the statute of limitations runs out. All in all, an event that had the power to change the face of wrestling today fizzled and did absolutely nothing. Well, it did leave us with perhaps the quote of the week (I say perhaps, because another fantastic quote is in this post) from Vince: <em>"I'm elated - just like in wrestling, in the end the good guys always win.</em>"</p><p> </p><p>

- Speaking of Vince McMahon: he has reportedly instructed road agents to begin to put more emphasis on the athletic side of wrestling in matches. This change will be introduced over the coming weeks and is said to be done in part to give the new cruiserweights a platform on which to shine.</p><p> </p><p>

- WWF's upcoming cruiserweight tournament will be named (the) <em>WWF Global Cruiserweight Cup</em>. As previously suggested, it will be held in the first week of September in Tokyo, Japan. The event will likely be aired for free for American audiences while being aired on PPV in markets more adjusted to the high-flying, fast-paced style.</p>

<strong>Week 1, August 1994</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>News and Tidbits from WCW</strong></p><p>

If you saw the latest copy of Pro Wrestling Illustrated, you already known that WCW won their monthly "National Battle" contest. This is the first time WCW has been declared the winner of such an event in years. It's about time somebody recognized the superior product down south!</p><p> </p><p>

-Paul Orndorff returned to action after a brief vacation to take a loss to Hulk Hogan on Saturday Night. Seems he was spared the fate of his former tag team partner Paul Roma. </p><p>

-We've been trying to get our hands out the tapes from the qualifying matches for the European Cup happening throughout Europe and the UK, but so far no luck. We have been told that Davey Boy Smith and Lord Steven Regal have both qualified. Alex Wright elected not to participate in the tournament due to a death in the family.</p><p>

-Speaking of Alex Wright, he continues to be undefeated. A lot of people in WCW are high on him, particularly Ric Flair. </p><p>

-WCW has set the finale of the European Cup to take place in England in the middle of August. </p><p>

-Erik Watts has left WCW after the company elected not to renew his contract.</p><p>

-Veteran Terry Taylor has also left the company, though officials within WCW are hopeful of bringing him back in at a later date. </p><p>

-As part of the European Cup tournament, WCW has announced working relationships with CWA, NWA-UK, RWS and All Star.</p><p>

-In similar fashion, WCW has put together a broad coalition of Japanese promotions to co-promote the big "WCW World in Japan" show at the end of this month.</p><p>

-Hulk Hogan will work both international shows as well as Clash of the Champions this month. Quite the schedule for the Hulkster!</p><p>

-Dusty Rhodes is returning to the ring! His reunion with his son was a HUGE emotional moment that popped a good number in the quarter hour ratings.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rumor Mill</strong></p><p>

-Woman has been seen backstage frequently during Doom matches at WCW events. She has something up her sleeve for sure.</p><p>

-Miracle Violence Connection wrapped up their tour dates with All Japan over the weekend. No word yet on whether they will be part of WCW's upcoming Japanese event.</p><p>

-Backstage brass is really high on Sudden Impact and is rumored to be looking to bring in some workers who can work some higher paced matches with them.</p><p>

-The future is bright for Sid Vicious as WCW management may already be fitting him for the World Title.</p><p>

-The suits aren't thrilled so far with Davey Boy Smith. Apparently he hasn't really goosed the numbers in the UK. There is talk they try to do something really big to help with that.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Around the World</strong></p><p>

-WWF's In Your House was such a big bust that Pam Anderson blushed!</p><p>

-Who did Vince McMahon pay off to get out of those steroid charges?</p><p>

-Kwang the Conqueror could be next in line to challenge Bret Hart for the World Title.</p>
