A new generation.....a new attitude?

Recommended Posts

Thank god for some unusually well received angles this week.....because that was all that saved Monday Night Raw from tanking. Outside of the excellent British Bulldog/Goldust encounter, a lot of the other bouts failed to deliver.....particularly the rather disappointing Main Event, which I had high hopes for.....by all accounts the crowd was rather put off by the heel/face team combination of Austin, Pillman and the Harts. I honestly expected better from Mankind and Al Snow too....both of whom usually put on a pretty solid show. They just didn't click at all though, and it made for some pretty awkward watching.....

....not that the ratings reflected that.....we still absolutely destroyed Nitro in the ratings war, 17.04-15.08....almost a full two point victory....and in my defence, that's all Vince McMahon cares about at the minute, wiping the smug grin off Eric Bischoff's face. Eric is clearly feeling the pressure too, because they put on a pretty big (by their recent standards anyway) main event this week.....dusting the cobwebs off a rarely seen Hulk Hogan to have him team with Sting against the regular combination of Vader and the WCW Champion (I know, I still can't believe it myself) Bam Bam Bigelow....and considering they had the Hulkster do the job, I'm surprised he agreed to appear at all.....obviously it was a screwy DQ finish, but still. They also finally took the Television Championship off the One Man Gang....your new Champion? The Disco Inferno. That's a good win for Disco, who I'm kind of sorry I missed out on signing a few months back.

In a little bit of contract news, Brian Pillman approached me after Raw to enquire about the possibility of a raise. He's slowly but surely risen up to a solid main event spot in recent months......in fact he's even sneaked into the upper tier of the upper tier and is arguably my number five guy in the company right now....behind Bret Hart, Steve Austin, The Undertaker....and obviously Shawn Michaels right at the top. He wanted almost a $15,000 a month raise.....yeah, maybe when you pip the Hitman to fourth place.....he got almost $10,000 but he was happy with that......I really need to position both him and Austin away from the Tag Team division and on to bigger and better things....they honestly deserve better, but the Tag run is mainly due to myself being a huge Hollywood Blondes fan when they were teaming a few years back in WCW.....we'll see where they go from here.

Vince always gets a bit twitchy anytime I go around giving one of the boys a raise.....but the fact that we are still clearing well over two and a half million dollars a month profit....and the fact that this calendar year alone we are over twenty million dollars better off soothes the savage beast a little bit. I'm trying to amass as much of a bankroll as we can because I honestly think we can take the WWF to a more global level with a little bit more hard work....and that's going to cost money. Anyway......on to Raw

OOC: Out of curiosity, would turning off the face/heel divide have any negative impact on the product? I get why it's there, but would a heel/face combo of the Harts, Austin and Pillman facing the KLiQ really have been received so poorly if this was an actual match you were watching? I feel like anything to do with the KLiQ kind of blurs the line between face and heel anyway.....I'm fairly sure even a heel Austin/Pillman vs heel Nash/Hall SHOULD be pretty well received.....here though not so much, which is why I've been stuck with so many multi man matches thus far in an attempt to bypass the negative note....what are people's thoughts?

<p>Personally, I've only ever turned off the face/heel divide one time to get around the penalty and it felt like I cheated. But that's my own guilty conscience talking <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Like you said, the Kliq basically operate outside normal face/heel rules, much like the nWo did, but there's no real way to show that in the game, because of how binary it is. I wouldn't turn it off, because it boils down to only being one or two matches that you get the penalty for it, and I don't think the penalty is all that harsh sometimes anyways.</p><p> </p><p>

Sid - <em>Nash does what Hall did last month by losing to Shawn's next challenger. I liked the dissension in the ranks on the last Raw, though, for sure; Hall and Nash seem to need to remind Shawn just who helped him get to the dance.</em></p><p>

Rich Steiner - <em>Very clever with the name change, and I laughed at the picture you're using for him.</em></p><p>

Sean Waltman - <em>If he doesn't do something soon, he's gonna be on the outside looking in like Hunter is now.</em></p><p>

Snow and Demott</p><p>

Hardy Boys - <em>Maybe Christian York and Joey Matthews?</em></p>

He begins by gloating about the fact that not only did he single handedly....and decisively.....take out Chris Jericho at In Your House, but he also took him out of the title picture completely, by bringing and old friend of his to town to keep him busy. He gloats about the fact that he single handedly beat both Hart Brothers so badly.....that Bret and Owen ran off to the tag team division, to tangle with Steve Austin and Brian Pillman......that's the same Steve Austin, who along with Scott Steiner by the way....was also beaten single handedly by The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels......</p><p> </p><p> <em>"........and you can add Jerry Lawler down there to the list too......a genuine who's who of professional Wrestling Superstars, that THOUGHT they had what it takes to hang with the Heartbreak Kid....only to find out that the Champ lies down for NO ONE!.....there's a reason that I am THE number one Wrestler in the world today......there's a reason why I'm THE man to beat around here.....and there's a reason why I am, the World Wrestling Federation Champion...........because....."</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> "......because of us......"</em></p><p> </p><p> Apparently one Kevin Nash has something to say on the matter.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>".....single handedly? Michaels expression soon turns to one of anger however, as he throws the microphone to the mat, shouting at Waltman that he'd better get the job done next, then hopping out of the ring and storming to the back, shouting insults to random fans as he goes into full Shawn Michaels temper tantrum mode.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A*</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="VVW29pq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VVW29pq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="bPirxUr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bPirxUr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="IYJgUWD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IYJgUWD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> No pressure then Sean.....as the WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, Rey Mysterio makes his way out to put the gold on the line against former Champion Sean Waltman. Waltman vastly underestimated the ability of the young Luchador back at Summerslam, and it cost him dearly.....he'll be taking this rematch much more seriously....especially after the words from Shawn Michaels a few minutes ago. </p><p> </p><p> While Sunny has toddled off to the back, presumably to try and soothe the bruised ego of the Heartbreak Kid, Justin Credible HAS remained at ringside to offer some moral (and no doubt some immoral) support to his teammate. This is a much more even affair than the last encounter, where Mysterio embarrassed the cocky, unprepared Champion....and the crowd are a lot more invested in the junior king of mystery now than they were back in August. Both men come close to picking up the victory....but none more so than Waltman, who is able to pick up a very near fall after Credible knocks Mysterio flying off the top rope behind the officials back. </p><p> </p><p> Surprisingly its Jerry Lawler that comes to the rescue there, leaving the announce desk and clocking Justin Credible with some patented "King" right hands, that knocks Jerry's stolen crown right off the head of the theiving Credible....and it's while the official is focused on that.....</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="pLtZNWI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pLtZNWI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> .....that this man, Chris Candido makes an appearance....because with Mysterio perched up on the top rope, The former Body Donna slides into the ring and nails Waltman with a Powerbomb....before rolling back out to the floor. Mysterio looks down at his challenger for a moment before shrugging his shoulders and coming flying off with a big top rope splash. The referee makes the count.....and Mysterio retains.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> .....and <strong>Still</strong> WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, Rey Mysterio</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="bPirxUr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bPirxUr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="pLtZNWI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pLtZNWI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="IYJgUWD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IYJgUWD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="pzXetTl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pzXetTl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Credible finally breaks free of the King and drags Waltman to the outside and halfway up the aisle. The two men consider rushing the ring but think better off it when Candido rolls back into the squared circle, with Mysterio's Light Heavyweight Championship in hand. The KLiQ men back slowly up the aisle, vowing revenge against Mysterio, Candido AND the King.</p><p> </p><p> Candido on the other hand walks over to Rey.....and stares down at the Gold Belt in his hand....holding onto it for just a fraction longer than Mysterio looks comfortable with....before finally handing it over to the Champion and raising his hand in victory. Chris Candido may have a problem with the KLiQ.....but it looks like the Light Heavyweight Championship has also caught his eye.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="Rc3NoDZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Rc3NoDZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="eLDIoSz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eLDIoSz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> We head to the back now, where Dok Hendrix is standing by with the man who came out last week looking to the future, as he challenged the WWF Champion Shawn Michaels to a rematch.....instead what he got, was a glimpse into the past, as he was assaulted by (if you choose to believe the Heartbreak Kid) the man that Jericho stabbed in the back...and his former tag team partner....his own Marty Jannetty.....and that man's name is Lance Storm.</p><p> </p><p> Obviously Dok cuts right to the chase, asking Jericho who Lance Storm is.....and did he in fact, stab the man in the back? Jericho says that the only truth to come out of Shawn Michaels mouth last week, was the fact that Lance Storm and Chris Jericho USED to be tag team partners......and they were a pretty good team too......they won some titles....lost some titles.....then they went their separate ways because both men had aspirations to go on as singles competitors.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>".....his problem seems to be, that I got called up to the big leagues.......and he didn't.......I can't help that Dok......there was certainly no betrayal, and Lance Storms back is decisively stab free.....in fact, the only one around here that's getting screwed over by someone they THOUGHT was still a friend......is me.....but then that's obviously the difference between Lance Storm and Chris Jericho.....Chris Jericho got called up to the World Wrestling Federation on the back of natural talent.....and Lance Storm got called up to the World Wrestling Federation on the back of MY name, and because Shawn Michaels wants to keep that WWF Title firmly where it is.........instead of around my sexy waist........but I promise you this Dok.........</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="46EV5Y1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/46EV5Y1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> .......of course we don't get to hear that promise, as for the second week in a row Jericho is ambushed from behind by his former friend Lance Storm. <p>Pretty quiet week this week all things considering. We destroyed Nitro in the ratings war again.....by our biggest margin yet, 17.93 to their 15.20.....over a two and a half point difference.....and yet WCW are still the number one company in the world....go figure. Again the desperation shows in Bischoff as he sends out the Huckster in the main event for the second week running....this time against Kevin Sullivan.....only to have him lose AGAIN by DQ.....I didn't watch the show but the red and yellow machine doesn't appear to be firing on all cylinders right now.</p><p> </p><p> As for Raw, the newly christened Rich Steiner got his first official match with Ted DiBiase as his manager, and I couldn't have asked for a better combination.....these two fit together so well and really click, especially when you consider that this was their first outing together. DiBiase really adds something to Rick....erm, Rich Steiner that was previously missing. The Orient Express made a surprise return, and for a one shot deal they really put on a good showing. It's a shame that Father Time is catching up with both men, because I was seriously tempted to sign them to a longer deal after that display with the Hardy's. Speaking of good displays, Raven's recent good showings on the microphone garnered rave reviews from the Undertaker.....it also garnered him a small pay rise....slightly less than he was asking for at around three grand, but he's stayed clean and sober since his visit to rehab, and he's certainly cutting interesting promos....I'm hoping for big things for his unique character, so the three grand was paid out happily.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <strong>Preview for Monday Night Raw, Week 2, October 1996</strong> </p><p> </p><p> Brian Pillman vs Shawn Michaels</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> Ahmed Johnson vs. Rich Steiner</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> Rey Mysterio & Chris Candido vs. Sean Waltman & Justin Credible</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> Rocky Maivia vs Faarooq</p><p> Comments:</p><p> </p><p> The Hardy Boys vs. ??? & ???</p><p> Who is ???/??? Shawn Michaels

Rich Steiner

Rey and Candido

Rocky Maivia

Hardy Boys - winning over The Beverly Brothers

While I doubt that was a full on Nash face turn, I love seeing him stand up for himself now. Now he is becoming the Diesel he was at the start of the game, and I am liking it a lot. While Shawn is definitely going to retain the title at In Your House (I just can't see you giving it to Sid) it can't be long until Michaels vs. Nash is on the cards.

Week 2, October 1996

The Pit

ATT: 16,179

TV: 17.61

bN15JFv.jpg

No time for formalities or hype today, because the show opens up with the WWF Champion Shawn Michaels already stood in the middle of the ring. He has the WWF Title strapped firmly around his waist and a microphone in hand, and while this is an obvious attempt of humility by the Heartbreak Kid, you can tell by his body language that there is a lot of anger bubbling underneath the surface. He starts off by apologising.....apologising to Sean Waltman, to Justin Credible.....but more importantly to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. He apologises for forgetting just who it was that was with him for every step of this journey so far.....

".......you know, I've never exactly been a humble guy.....and I've never been shy about leering people know that I know....and you know....just how good I am. When I step into this ring, there is nobody in wrestling today who can do what I do....obviously when you're as confident as the Heartbreak Kid, you can rub a few people up the wrong way, so I don't have many friends in this business.....but the friends I do have, have been with me through thick and thin from the day that Shawn Michaels stopped being a Rocker, and the Heartbreak Kid was born....but none more so that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.....

.....Kevin and Scott have been with me for every wild ride, every time I doubted myself they were there to pick me up and dust me off, and somewhere along the way I forgot about that....."

Michaels says that he's not happy about the KLiQ's actions last week.....but he understands why they did it. He says that everything he has done since Wrestlemania he COULD have done by himself.....and he DID beat Bret Hart at Summerslam....he DID beat Chris Jericho at In Your House.....and make no mistake about it, he WILL beat Psycho Sid in two weeks time....but maybe it's time that he started to be more of a team player.....so starting right now, he's officially challenged one of Hall and Nash's In Your House opponents Brian Pillman, to a match tonight.....and next week, Stone Cold Steve Austin is going to get the same treatment.....and Michaels guarantees that come In Your House, Austin and Pillman will be in no condition to put up a fight, as Hall and Nash walk out with the gold.....it's a new day.....and apparently, a new Shawn Michaels.

One of the under fire KLiQ members is in action next, as Sean Waltman and Justin Credible look to gain a modicum of revenge and a lot of momentum ahead of Waltman's In Your House clash with one of his opponents tonight, Chris Candido. Candido is paired up with the current WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio.....but the question is, does Candido have the Champions best interest at heart? Or is his true desire the Light Heavyweight Championship itself?

This is a pretty decent opener. Credible is clearly the weak link of the four men, but any flaws are easily hidden in tag team action.....and Candido, Waltman and Mysterio are more than talented enough to ensure that the match flows smoothly. Rey plays the face in peril role, and he plays it well. His size makes him the perfect sympathetic underdog, even in the Light Heavyweight division.

Candido makes the hot tag and the match finally breaks down (as it tends to do) resulting in the official taking an inadvertent Spinning Heel Kick from Waltman.....

bN15JFv.jpg

.......which is when the WWF Champion Shawn Michaels makes an appearance. He runs down the aisle and slides into the ring. With Credible and Mysterio brawling on the outside, Waltman hooks Candido from behind and holds him there while Michaels tunes up the band. HBK let's fly with some Sweet Chin Music.....but unfortunately Candido had wriggled free and all Michaels boot connects with.....is Sean Waltman's chin......just as the official comes to his senses. Michaels drops to the outside and slams his hands against the ring apron in frustration, as Candido covers Waltman for the easiest three count of his life.

Mysterio and Candido head to the back with their arms raised in victory, as Credible tries to revive his partner. Waltman finally comes to his senses and he and Credible roll to the outside, where Shawn Michaels is waiting with an apology, proclaiming his innocence. Waltman is unconvinced however, and can clearly be heard on camera asking Shawn "......what was that? Payback for last week? You get Powerbombed so I get kicked in the face?....." Michaels repeatedly denies it, claiming Candido moved, it was an accident.....but Waltman and Credible don't seem to be buying it.....and for the second week in a row The Heartbreak Kid finds himself the recipient of a KLiQ walkout, as both men turn their backs on him and head up the aisle to the locker room.

We head to the back now where Dok Hendrix is standing by with Marc Mero and Sable. Dok asks Sable how she is doing after the recent harassment she has been on the receiving end of at the hands of Billy Gunn and Mr. Perfect? Sable doesn't say much (by design, she's a terrible talker) basically telling Dok that Gunn and Perfect need to learn that no means no and to leave her alone. Mero is more vocal however. Telling Gunn that the two of them are going to be meeting at In Your House....and when Marc Mero and his left jab is done with him, no woman is going to be wanting to look at him twice, because his nose will be flattened and his jaw will be on the opposite side of his face.....but then again, that might be an improvement.

We go back down to ringside now, where Hawk and Animal are standing by with Matt and Jeff Hardy, waiting to see how their students fare with their latest hand picked opponents after their successful outing last week against the Orient Express.....

......and they don't have to wait for long, as some classical sounding music signals the arrival of Beau and Blake, The Beverly Brothers....the privileged duo from Shaker Heights who haven't been seen in the WWF in quite some time.

Much like last week, this is an exercise in making the Hardy Boys look good.....and again the opponents are up to the task. For tonight though the AWA will have to do, as Matt puts Blake away with a move dubbed the Twist of Fate.

To the back we go again, where Dok Hendrix continues to work the stick. He's joined now by the Nation of Domination. Hendrix asks Faarooq about his upcoming match with the Son's of Samoa member, Rocky Maivia, adding that the Son's seem to have taken offence to the Nation's claims that they never get the opportunities that others do around here......

"......'Men in rage, strike those that wish them the best'.....do you know what that's from Hendrix? Don't answer that, of course you don't, because you're an uneducated fool.....that line is from Othello.......one of the most important pieces of work that William Shakespeare ever wrote.....you know why Dok? Because it SHOULD have been the first time that a brother got to play the leading role.....but instead what happened, was the 'man' went out and bought a tub of boot polish....they picked their favourite whiter than white, blonde haired, blue eyed boy....and then they blacked that sucka up good......"

Dok thanks Faarooq for the history lesson, but tells him that he didn't actually answer the question? Why does he feel that the Son's of Samoa have taken offence to his claims of prejudice here in the WWF? Faarooq stares at Hendrix like he's stupid for a moment, before slowly repeating.....

"......'Men in rage.......strike those......that wish them......the best'.......I don't know how to say it any clearer.....the Son's of Samoa ain't offended by what the Nation has to say....they're angry by what the Nation has to say.....and they're angry, because they know it's true......they come out here and talk about how proud they are of their heritage, of their family......but they know full well that as far as the WWF goes, the man in the ivory tower always has and always will, consider them nothing more than a bunch of savages......so they strike out at us, because we are telling them what they don't want to hear......what they SHOULD be doing, is joining with the Nation and standing up to their oppressors.......just like Rocky Johnson did.....one half of the first ever Black WWF Tag Team Champions in history......Rocky Maivia should be very proud of his father......but more importantly, he should be proud of ME!.....after all, it took almost another fifteen years before I finally arrived in the WWF, to became the first Black Intercontinental Champion.....Rocky, we don't have to fight tonight, you and your family are welcome to join the Nation.....just don't mistake our offer of kindness as a sign of weakness....because if you DO want to fight.....then you're going to find out first hand that the Nation always wins.....by any means necessary......"

The last time the Son's of Samoa clashed with the Nation of Domination, it was Kama and Nelson of the Nation that came out on top....not without an assist from Scorpio at ringside however. Tonight it's singles action, as Faarooq goes one on one with the young up and comer Rocky Maivia. While most of the talk around the SoS's heritage has surrounded the extended Samoan family.....(and rightfully so, they're the Son's of Samoa after all).....but Faarooq seems to be more interested in the Johnson side of Maivia's family.

Both men are accompanied by their respective factions, so ringside fills up rather quickly....especially when you take into account the size of both Kokina and Nelson. Faarooq spends the opening moments of the contest asking Maivia if this is what his Daddy would want? He says that men like Rocky Johnson suffered for decades so that their children would have a better future.....he tells Maivia not to throw his future away by backing the wrong team. Rocky tells him that when it comes to choosing sides, Family always comes first.....especially before some militant conspiracy nut.....he then punctuates this point by delivering an open handed slap to the leader of the Nation.

Rocky has picked up a number of good victories since his arrival here in the WWF.....but a win against Faarooq would certainly be his biggest scalp yet.....and he certainly takes the big man to the limit....and very nearly picks up the three count with that running shoulder breaker that was only broken up by Kama yanking Faarooq to the outside. The Nation are also involved in the finish of the one, because as Rikishi and Kokina are trading insults with Kama and Nelson....and the official attempting to keep them separated.....Scorpio nails Maivia in the back with a steel chair, that leaves the youngster easy pickings for a Dominator from Faarooq.....and three seconds later the Nation of Domination are two for two against the Son's of Samoa.

We come back from commercial to an explosion of fire, as a deep crimson light washes over the arena and the Big Red Monster makes his way out from the back. Kane stalks methodically down the aisle, with his ever present manager, the Motormouth of the Mid South, Jim Cornette leads the way. The duo climb into the ring, where Cornette (unsurprisingly) has a microphone at hand. He begins by addressing the Undertaker, telling the Deadman that his time has nearly come......as the twentieth anniversary of their parents demise grows nearer, so grows Kane's hunger and desire to make his brother feel just a fraction of the pain and torment that Kane has suffered his entire life....he says that the only reason that Kane hasn't unleashed his full fury on the Deadman yet, is because that's exactly what the Undertaker wants.....and the Undertaker has been getting what he wants for as long as Kane can remember.....it's no longer about the Undertaker....because come Survivor Series, the Big Red Monster is going to be the one to finally cut the head off the zombie....and then, with a twenty year vendetta settled, it'll be onwards and upwards to the WWF Title......but before all that, there's the little issue of Mankind.....

"........Mankind, you know what.....you're like that irritating little stray dog that nobody likes.....going from home to home, flashing your puppy dog eyes and wagging your mangy little tail...taking kick after kick at every door you scratch at, desperate to find a home.....when in reality you should have been taken to the pound and put out of your misery a long, long time ago.......fortunately for you, while nobody actually wants you, you haven't actually come across anybody that even cares enough to expend their energy putting you down.....even the big bad Undertaker had enough mercy in his black heart to leave you kicking and breathing.......at In Your House however, you're not in there with the Undertaker.....you're in there with Kane......and while the Undertaker has a black heart......my Big Red Monster has no heart at all.....make the most of the time you have left Mankind.....chase some sticks.....bark at the birds......let the sun beam down on your matted, rotten coat.....because at In Your House, Kane is going to do you.....and everyone else, the favour of finally ridding the world of the vermin that is Mankind, once and for all....."

With that Cornette breaks out in laugher, as Kane raises his hands high in the air and releasing a blaze of fire from the turnbuckles, as we head to the back........

.......where Raven and Mankind are huddled around a monitor in a darkened room, with only the light from the screen illuminating their features......and that's probably for the best, because Mankind's features tell us that Jim Cornette's words really struck a chord with him. He starts babbling about what Kane is going to do to him at In Your House, telling Raven that if he thinks the Undertaker is bad, Kane makes him look like a pussycat. He then starts repeating Cornette's words about nobody wanting him....about maybe Cornette is right and it's time for Mankind to be put out of his misery.....until Raven finally stops him.....

".......the scariest monsters aren't the ones that look at us in the face.....or the ones that hide under your bed.....the scariest monsters are the ones that lurk within our souls.....Kane might think he's a monster....YOU might think he's a monster.....but I know that deep within your soul, there is a monster of your own.....a monster like no other.....you just have to listen for his song.....a beautiful melody telling you terrible things........let his words wash over you, and eradicate all seed of doubt planted by Jim Cornette.....Jim Cornette never saw you for what you truly are.....he saw the misfit, but he never saw the monster.......show him the monster......show him for yourself.....but more importantly....show him for Raven.....at In Your House, let your monster free......."

Mankind doesn't look convinced however, and even in the dim light you can see the doubt in his eyes.....he tells Raven that he can't do it.....Kane is going to destroy him.....but Raven doesn't listen, telling him that he can do it......and he will do it........but if he truly believes that Mankind can't do it, they know someone that can......

"........Jack could do it.......

......says Raven, before handing Mankind the same white shirt that he handed him during their first meeting here in the WWF. Mankind looks down at the shirt for a moment, before shaking his head and handing it back, telling Raven that "....that's one Pandora's Box that should remain closed....." Raven doesn't take the shirt though, he tells Mankind to keep it for old times sake.....

Well.....after those rather unusual words it's time to return so a semblance of normality around here.....it's time to fight, as Ahmed Johnson goes up against the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship, Rich Steiner. Ahmed certainly has the motivation here, as he's in there with a member of Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Corporation......the same Million Dollar Corporation that arguably cost him a shot at Shawn Michaels and the WWF Championship a few weeks ago on Raw.

This one was a hard hitting battle from start to finish, as we have two big bulls going at it, like the ring was their China shop.....neither man gives an inch, and neither man thinks twice about taking two shots in the jaw just to deliver one of their own. Ahmed has made it clear that he has the WWF Championship in his sights, but he's going to be moving to the back of the queue if he can't pick up a victory here tonight. Rich Steiner however is a man on a roll. Fresh off his victory last week over Marc Mero, and a particularly successful partnership with Ted DiBiase blossoming, a big win here over Ahmed Johnson would give him a whole heap of momentum heading into In Your House in two weeks time......

http://i.imgur.com/k6DGuKj.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/2Kz9qfQ.jpg

.......and of course, since the Million Dollar Man always gets what he wants......and since the Million Dollar Corporation aren't against bending the rules, we unsurprisingly have the arrival of Mark Canterbury and Dennis Knight.....the former Godwinns who have had more screen-time in the last month as Southern Justice, than they have had in the rest of the year combined.

With DiBiase running interference the duo hit the ring....and unfortunately run into a rampaging Ahmed Johnson, who cuts them off at the pass, tossing Canterbury to the floor before hitting an impressive looking Pearl River Plunge on Knight. The distraction gives Rich Steiner all the time in the world to quietly mount the turnbuckles behind him however......and as Ahmed gets back to his feet he gets immediately dropped with the Bulldog from the top......which is enough to give him the one, two, three.

With the victory in the bag, the Million Dollar Corporation look to continue the assault, as Steiner and Southern Justice pounce on the already fallen Ahmed Johnson. Canterbury and Knight each hold an arm a piece, leaving the big man wide open for a series of hard punches from Steiner. Johnson is completely helpless and it doesn't look good for him........

tTABVbX.jpgw3aaloG.jpg

..........at least until Psycho Sid and the WWF Intercontinental Champion Davey Boy Smith come tearing down the aisle and send the Corporation scattering to the outside and back up the aisle. Steiner screams at the Bulldog that he's going to take that Intercontinental Title at In Your House, while DiBiase tells Sid that he made the biggest mistake of his life by walking away from the Corporation.....and Ted promises that Sid will NEVER be the WWF Champion as long as he has something to say.....and someone to pay.

We head to the back after that, and straight into the middle of a rather heated conversation between Shawn Michaels and the rest of the KLiQ. Michaels is arguing his case, saying that he came here tonight to prove that he is a team player.....that it's not all about him.....that he's here for the good of the KLiQ......Kevin Nash isn't buying it though, telling the WWF Champion that he can say he's here for the KLiQ, but as usual, tonight has been nothing more than the Shawn Michaels show. He opened Monday Night Raw and he's closing Monday Night Raw.......and the one KLiQ match that DIDN'T involve him, he stuck his nose in anyway "......and kicked Sean Waltman in the face for good measure.....you can say it was an accident all you want, but either way the spotlight wound up on you didn't it....."

Michaels tells Nash that it was an accident, how many times does he have to say it? And right now he's about to head down to the ring and kick Brian Pillman's teeth down his throat ".....for you.....I'm doing this for the KLiQ......I've certainly got nothing to gain by stepping into the ring with that lunatic......they don't call him the Loose Cannon because he's emotionally stable you know.....I'm stepping into the ring with Brian Pillman, to ensure that at In Your House, the gold comes home with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.....and when I'm done with Pillman tonight, he'll be practically down on his knees.....begging you to take that Championship out of his hand.....so you just sit back and watch that monitor......as The Heartbreak Kid does what he does best......shine......"

SC2jCnQ.jpg VS. bN15JFv.jpg

It's main event time here tonight.....and it's certainly a unique one....as we have Brian Pillman going one on one with the WWF Champion, Shawn Michaels. Neither of these men are what you would call fan favourites, even though both clearly have their fans amongst the crowd. This is a huge match for the Loose Cannon....who may currently be one half of the WWF Tag Team Champions, but you would have to think that a victory over the WWF World Champion Shawn Michaels in this non-title match, would give him a pretty strong argument for a shot at the big one somewhere down the line.

If Shawn Michaels is looking to reconcile with the KLiQ, he's not doing a very good job of it so far tonight. He's cost the KLiQ a tag match against Chris Candido and Rey Mysterio.....Superkicked Sean Waltman in the face.....argued with Kevin Nash.....and generally rubbed Hall and Credible up the wrong way....he has a chance at redemption here though.....taking Pillman out of commission ahead of Hall and Nash's Championship opportunity at In Your House would certainly put him back in the KLiQ's good graces.....it's no easy feat however, especially when you are in the ring with someone as unorthodox as Brian Pillman.

Truth be told, these two are almost mirror images of each other.....both can talk the talk, both can fly, both can take it to the mat when they need too....and both can brawl when the need arises....and truth be told, both Shawn Michaels and Brian Pillman could arguably be called the complete package when it comes to being a wrestler....(not the Total Package, no, no, no....that would be gimmick infringement).....there is nothing between those ropes that either man can't do......

.....and it's because of that, we have about as even a contest here as you could ask for....so evenly matched in fact that the referee suffers because of it.....because after a long back and forth battle, the duo wind up running the ropes, criss-crossing in the middle of the ring....where both men attempt to connect with a flying forearm at the same time.....unfortunately, what they both connect with is the official, who goes down hard......

pzXetTl.jpg

.......which is when Justin Credible comes running down the aisle, obviously being the only KLiQ member willing to give Michaels the benefit of the doubt. He hops onto the ring apron and hooks a hold of Pillman from behind. Michaels arrogantly struts over towards the Loose Cannon and grabs him roughly by the face, telling him that ".....now you get to stand there and watch.....as I kick your teeth down your throat......" before taking a few steps back and beginning to tune up the band. Just as Michaels lets fly however, Psycho Sid's music starts playing through the arena. Justin Credible snaps his head around looking for the big man.....which loosens his grip on Pillman enough for Brain to wriggle out of his grasp........

........just as the Sweet Chin Music connects with the side of Credible's head.....

tTABVbX.jpg

........and Psycho Sid himself comes walking out onto the entrance ramp, laughing like a madman. Michaels looks down at Credible unconscious on the arena floor in horror, before screaming at Sid that ".....you did this.....not me......this was your fault....." but Sid doesn't care.....and in between fits of laughter he points beyond Michaels, telling him to ".....look behind you big boy......"

LjBLTcA.jpg

......where Steve Austin is waiting with a Stone Cold Stunner for the WWF Champion, that leaves Michaels lying on the mat. Austin drops down, talking smack right in the Heartbreak Kid's face, before rolling Brian Pillman on top and reviving the official......three seconds later and the crowd in attendance gets to witness a rarely seen sight......Shawn Michaels on the losing end of a match.

With the bell ringing to signal the end of the match, Shawn Michaels slowly comes around......and swiftly wishes he hadn't, when he sees Psycho Sid, Steve Austin and Brian Pillman stood over him. Sid wraps his hand around his In Your House opponents neck and pulls him to his feet......just as the KLiQ music starts to play.....

7M1mABh.jpgtsQXS32.jpgIYJgUWD.jpg

.........and the three remaining members of the group make their way down the aisle. Michaels breaks out in a grin and suggests to Sid that he might want to let him go, before the KLiQ put him down......unfortunately Nash, Hall and Waltman only get as far as Justin Credible's still fallen body. Without even looking at the scene in the ring, Hall scoops up Credible and throws him over his shoulder, Fireman's carry style.....and the three men simply turn and walk back to the locker room. Michaels is squirming like mad and pleading for the KLiQ to come back.....his plea's fall on deaf ears however......and after a Chokeslam, followed by a Powerbomb.....Raw finishes on a familiar note.....Psycho Sid holding the WWF Championship high in the air, with one foot on the chest of a broken Shawn Michaels.

All good things come to those who wait.....because after the ratings reports came in, and on the back of another dominant showing which saw Raw destroy Nitro 17.61 to 15.11....the World Wrestling Federation is now officially recognised as the number one wrestling company in the world. WCW might still have the edge on us when it comes to name recognition and star power, but we have repeatedly and consistently out performed them where it counts for so long now that even that doesn't matter. My goal since taking the book was always to get us to number one, but I honestly believed that we would have to break into a more international level first to do that....apparently not.....although that's not going to stop me from attempting to grow the company......hopefully this time next year we will truly be a worldwide company.

That's really the biggest news of the week, the only other tidbit of information would be that a still unemployed Hunter Hearst Helmsley has been using his downtime to hit the needle.....uhm, I mean hit the gym....because recent pictures that have done the rounds in the dirt-sheets have him looking ripped to obscene proportions....the man literally looks as though he's chiselled from granite.....even I have to admit that the guy looks amazing, and I can't stand the douchebag. Hey Hunter, how does it feel knowing that you wanted out of the Number one wrestling company in the world? Have fun working for number two if WCW ever come knocking.

Raven has yet to receive a reply to his counter offer to the challenge that Al Snow levied a few weeks back on Raw....Snow requested a return match with Raven, with the stipulation that should Al be victorious, Raven is to leave both himself and Bill DeMott alone for good.....Raven agreed, under the condition that should HE win, then both Al Snow and Bill DeMott shall be forced to join the folds of Ravens family.....</p><p> </p><p> ......if this match is any indication, then DeMott had better hope that Snow chooses wisely.....because he's taking a whipping here tonight, from a Mankind who is focused on using Bill as a warm up match before having to step into the ring with the Big Red Machine on Sunday Night. Raven's words seem to have an almost hypnotic quality to them when it comes to dealing with the more 'damaged' minds of the WWF....and Mankind has found himself falling deeper under his spell as the weeks go on....despite Al Snows warnings that Raven is using him, just like everybody else has done.....</p><p> </p><p> ......either way, what that essentially means for Bill DeMott tonight (even after a particularly strong showing from the big man) is that he is on the receiving end of a crippling Mandible Claw from Mankind, that gives the masked mutilator an impressive victory heading into In Your House. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> Mankind</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="oJqc7jC.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oJqc7jC.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="P4qW3WS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P4qW3WS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NqqfCgY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NqqfCgY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> With the match over, Mankind sits rocking in the middle of the ring, while Raven makes his way slowly down the aisle. Ahmed still has a bone to pick with the Corporation, after Steiner cost Johnson a shot at Shawn Michaels and the WWF Championship at Sunday's In Your House, so he's chomping at the bit to go.....while The Bulldog will be looking to take out Steiners team mates to build up some steam towards his title defence on Sunday.....</p><p> </p><p> ......and both men get their wishes.....because Southern Justice just aren't up to the task this evening.....and Knight and Canterbury get put away with a stereo Pearl River Plunge and Running Powerslam.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner(s):</strong> Ahmed Johnson & The British Bulldog</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B-</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="kbzSPDo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kbzSPDo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="w3aaloG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/w3aaloG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="hzDZTVJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hzDZTVJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>http://i.imgur.com/k6DGuKj.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/2Kz9qfQ.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The second the bell sounds, Rich Steiner is in the ring with a steel chair in hand. He turns to the rest of the KLiQ and asks them <em>".....what's got him all rattled up...."</em> before the whole group breaks out in laughter......apart from Sunny who sits like a scolded school girl in the corner, clearly desperate to be out there with Shawn.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A*</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="LjBLTcA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LjBLTcA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="bN15JFv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bN15JFv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> To say that we had a huge main event tonight would be somewhat of an understatement. We have Champion vs Champion....and two men that don't find themselves on the losing side of a contest very often around here.....as Shawn Michaels the WWF Champion goes one on one with Stone Cold Steve Austin......one half of the WWF Tag Team Champions. Austin's partner Brian Pillman holds the distinct honour of being the only man to defeat Shawn Michaels in singles competition on Monday Night Raw this year.......so while Austin will be looking to equal his partners accomplishment, he won't be in any rush to receive the same treatment from the KLiQ that the Loose Cannon did earlier.</p><p> </p><p> Steve Austin truly is on the cusp of greatness here in the WWF....propelling him self from midcard obscurity in January, to the number three guy in the company, with only The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels ahead of him in the pecking order......so this match against Shawn is a big test.....especially since neither man is your traditional fan favourite (even though they both have a following) and heel vs heel matches don't go down so well here in the WWF.......so when you take that into account, the reaction this match got was phenomenal.....and the match that this crowd received was just as good.</p><p> </p><p> Neither man backed down as they went full on for almost twenty minutes......both men were able to connect with their respective finishing moves.....but on each occasion they were too close to the ropes and the only thing that prevented a pinfall, was the force of the moves sending their opponents rolling to the outside......unfortunately for Austin......it was while Michaels was on the floor recovering from a Stone Cold Stunner that the match went wrong.........</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="7M1mABh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7M1mABh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tsQXS32.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tsQXS32.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> ........because while the official is focused on giving the Heartbreak Kid the mandatory ten count.....Kevin Nash and Scott Hall make their way down to ringside.....and while Hall tries to rouse HBK, Nash slides into the ring with a steel chair and absolutely kills Stone Cold with it, before rolling back out to the floor. Hall rolls Michaels back into the ring, who drapes a single arm over the chest of Austin for the one, two, three.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> Shawn Michaels</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B+</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> <img alt="bN15JFv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bN15JFv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7M1mABh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7M1mABh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tsQXS32.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tsQXS32.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="LjBLTcA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LjBLTcA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Michaels slowly comes to his senses and sees Hall and Nash standing over the fallen Austin....he smiles telling them that he knew they would come to their senses, before holding up his hand in a 'too sweet' gesture....Hall and Nash just look at him though.....before telling him that they didn't do this for him.....so why doesn't he walk his little Boy Toy ass to the back......this is KLiQ business. </p><p> </p><p> Nash and Hall turn back towards Austin, but Shawn Michaels has had enough.....he throws the WWF Championship down to the mat and spins Nash around, screaming in his face. Nash stands there with that cocky smirk on his face, before disregarding Michaels with a gentle shove......but Michaels snaps......and slaps Big Sexy right in the face......Nash isn't smirking now......in fact he looks downright p####d off and Shawn immediately realised his mistake, as he backs away with his hands up in surrender and apology. Nash tells him to <em>".....Walk!!!.....now!!!.....I'll give you that shot.....and only that shot.....now leave......"</em></p><p> </p><p> Shawn drops out of the ring in a flash and begins to make his way up the aisle......which is when two pink and black blurs come flying out of the crowd and into the ring......</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="cxFuo6U.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cxFuo6U.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Ysgc13U.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Ysgc13U.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> ........and Bret and Owen Hart pounce on Hall and Nash. Between various blows the camera picks up the Hart Brothers telling Big Sexy and The Bad Guy that this is for costing them the Tag Titles four weeks ago.....and finally they manage to beat the Two KLiQ men down enough that they are able to go for simultaneous Sharpshooters.....with Bret trying to turn Nash, while Owen spins Hall over.</p><p> </p><p> Seeing a chance for redemption, Shawn Michaels stops in his tracks and comes sprinting down the aisle, where he's able to break up the submission holds......but by now Steve Austin is back to his feet, and we soon have a wild brawl on our hands.....and while technically The Harts and Austin are on the same side.....it doesn't stop Stone Cold from throwing a stiff shot Bret Harts way when he comes within arms reach. Hart and Austin square up.....and look to be seconds away from exploding, when Shawn Michaels comes flying across the ring with the Sweet Chin Music.......Michaels hasn't had the best of luck when it's come to the Superkick recently however.....and tonight is no different.......because both Hart and Austin see it coming and move at the last minute.......leaving Shawn's boot with nothing to connect with......other than Kevin Nash's head......</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="IYJgUWD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IYJgUWD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="pzXetTl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pzXetTl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> ........Nash drops to the mat like a lead balloon, as Waltman and Credible come running down the aisle.....and along with Hall the three men start screaming at Michaels.....who in turn starts screaming back......again, protesting his innocence. The sight of a public KLiQ melt down is such a sight to see, that even Austin and the Harts stop brawling long enough to enjoy the view....and that's how the show comes to a close........but not until the camera pans back.....</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="tTABVbX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tTABVbX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> ........to show Psycho Sid standing at the top of the entrance ramp, laughing maniacally.....because it's clear that his opponent on Sunday night is going to have a lot on his mind.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> A*</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Rating:</strong> A</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p>
