He puts over the fact that he has been to the top of the mountain in each of the promotions he has been. Ziggler puts himself over as the guy who was never given a fair shake, and always comes up short. In FATE, he plans to be known as the guy who put the company on the map, and the standard that all newcomers look to live up to. No one does it like he does. AJ doubts Ziggler could amount to his expectations, but assures him that Styles has already been "that guy" everywhere he has been. The crowd was very behind Gable as the match went on, even chanting his name to the tune of Kurt Angle's theme song. Jack Evans' arrogance proves to be his biggest downfall, spending too much time verbally berating Jason Jordan, allowing him to land a huge Release German Suplex, sending Evans into his corner for a tag to Angelico. Jordan tags in Gable, who helps him stay afloat and land Grand Amplitude for the win. American Alpha are the first team to advance in the tournament! In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, American Alpha defeated The Sky Blondes in 6:37 when Chad Gable defeated Angélico by pinfall with a Grand Amplitude. 58 This match got the crowd buzzing. Their plans work out, until Trent Seven changes his mind, and lands a Spinning Backfist to break the truce that nearly kept Johnny Gargano down for a three count. The lack of allegiance between the two smaller duos allowed Harper and Rowan to divide and conquer. Tyler Bate tapped out to a Gator Roll (Rolling front chancery) from Luke Harper. Not much later, Harper ate a double Superkick whilst kneeling from #DIY. Erick Rowan was able to shove Johnny out of the ring land Greetings from the Bottom (a sitout chokeslam) on Tommaso Ciampa for the three count. With an elated Heath Slater's support, Odyssey join American Alpha in the second round of the tournament! In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Odyssey (Harper & Rowan) defeated Moustache Mountain and #DIY in 10:02; the order of elimination was Moustache Mountain first, and then #DIY. 55 Heath Slater did good work at ringside. Slater and Harper are a good pairing. Cesaro dominated the early goings, tossing Cien around with ease. The turning point saw Almas toss Cesaro into the corner rather than ride on the uppercut train, and landing a handspring into Cesaro, followed by a Rope-assisted enzuigiri. Cesaro fought back against Cien's aggression, and inevitably found a victory with the Neutralizer. Cesaro is the first to advance in this tournament! Rather than give up, the Prizefighter manages to inch close enough to the rope and TJ releases the hold. He hits the ropes hard, looking to take Kev down, but instead falls victim to the Pop-Up Powerbomb. KO gets the 1,2,3 to join Cesaro in the next round of the tournament! The Vaudevillains do a great job of cutting the ring in half in the early goings, but their advantage is soon lost when the more experienced and better traveled duo begin to use various double team maneuvers. Kyle shouts "BOBBY!" to signal his partner to set-up Chasing the Dragon, but Gotch ducks Fish's roundhouse kick and snaps off a big tag to partner English. English knocks Fish out of the ring with a big forearm to the back of the head, and the Whirling Dervish allows the youngsters to land an upset in the tournament! They join American Alpha and Odyssey in the next round. Styles' years of success helped him bring confidence into this match, and quite the opposite seemed to help Ziggler bring confidence of his own. Both men were looking to become the face of FATE, and a win in the company's first ever main event would be a step in that direction. Styles went for the Super Styles Clash from the ropes, but Ziggler managed to flip AJ forward with his feet. He then came off the ropes with a Fame Asser, but it was not enough to keep P1 down for three. Styles recovered, only to eat a Superkick, but quickly snapped off a Pele Kick with whatever energy was left. Both lie motionless on the mat whilst head referee Jimmy Korderas counted all the way to 5. They met again on their knees around the 7 count, and trading blows, ignoring how tired they were becoming. Styles jumped up quickly and seemingly out of nowhere, putting Ziggler in position for the Styles Clash and doing his normal guns to the side salute before putting the Showoff away and joining Cesaro and Kevin Owens in the next round. Jay is sharpening an axe, and has a spare minute to talk about the trendy and critically acclaimed tag team that burst into the tag team wrestling scene not so long ago. "You boys think you're the greatest wrestling tag team in the world right now, yet you did not come even close to what the Briscoes accomplished over the past 15 freaking years! We busted our a**es and put our bodies on the line in wars you didn't even see in your nightmares! I know Mark since he popped out of Mama Briscoe, and it's been more than 30 years from now! Wyatt knows it is no coincidence that Slater has brought Harper and Rowan under his wing just before a match with Wyatt. While Harper and Rowan may have lost their way, and Slater seems to have never found his, Bray Wyatt remains far from lost. The Eater of Worlds ends the promo with a "Run." 65 This angle got the show off to a strong start. This angle got the crowd hotter. As soon as we start, Castle ducks a clothesline from the Miz, and clubs him in the back of the head before landing a Deadlift German Suplex. Marty was right there to break up the pinfall attempt, however, which set the tone for the match. Each time one of the competitors thought they had the advantage, another was there to prevent victory. Miz truly shone in this match, and was a force to be reckoned with. After seven minutes, things were beginning to wind down. The Miz lands a Skull Crushing Finale on Dalton Castle, but not before referee Rudy Charles is caught in the scuffle. As Rudy is down, the Villain uses his umbrella to clock Miz in the back of the head, followed by tossing him right outside the ring. He proceeds by choking out Castle with the umbrella, before sliding it toward the apron and waking the referee, so that he may get a pinfall victory. The Villain joins Cesaro, Kevin Owens, and AJ Styles in the next round of the tournament! In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Marty Scurll defeated Dalton Castle and The Miz in 7:29 when Marty Scurll defeated Dalton Castle by pinfall after blatantly cheating. 60 This match got the crowd buzzing. The Briscoes are in control for a majority of the 12 minute bout, and they set up the Doomsday Device for the win. No! Dash Wilder has the wherewithal to kick-out. Scott Dawson hops off the apron, runs to the other side of the ring, and drops Mark Briscoe face-first into the apron! He joins Dash in the ring to kick Jay in the stomach and we see the Shatter Machine! ONE, TWO, THREE! Say YEAH! Dash & Dawson have knocked off tag team wrestling legends to join American Alpha, Odyssey, and the Vaudevillains in the second round of the tournament! A huge Cozy Lariat looked to spell defeat after their tremendous effort, but instead Rocky was there to save Trent. Afterward, Tenzan was nowhere to be found, so Satoshi Kojima fell victim to the Strong Zero! Roppongi Vice score what some would call an upset, and advance to the second round of the tournament! In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Roppongi Vice defeated TenKoji in 13:26 when Rocky Romero defeated Satoshi Kojima by pinfall with a Strong Zero. 68 Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero showed excellent chemistry teaming together. A match beyond the quality of anything FATE has produced thus far, pitting two products of New Japan Pro Wrestling against each other. Okada remains composed throughout the entirety of the match, not giving an inch to his opponent who once was forced to vacate the IWGP Intercontinental Championship in order to become NXT Champion soon thereafter. In the end, we see Nakamura miraculously kick out of a Rainmaker, and land the Landslide from the second rope! Nakamura heads to the second round, and Okada looks devastated in his defeat! Last week, Heath Slater made his debut with an endorsement for the Odyssey, a new trio consisting of him and the former Wyatt Family, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. Bray Wyatt, coincidentally, happens to be his opponent in the first round of the Inaugural World Champoinship Tournament. Wyatt starts things off with a backwards crawl, but Slater lands the Sweetness out of nowhere! ONE! TWO! NOPE! Wyatt doesn't go down that easy, especially not with a shot at the gold on the line, and his former compatriots lying in wake. Bray Wyatt fought until exhaustion, and got a good match out of former joke Heath Slater. Slater nearly had it once more with a Smash Hit, but it was a kiss to the forehead, a cold stare to Harper and Rowan, and a Sister Abigail, that brought Wyatt to the next round of the tournament. With the Colon cousins and the Hardy brothers on opposite sides of the ring, we were treated to a rather fast-paced match. The crowd was in the palm of Matt and Jeff's hands as the match rolled on, causing every pinfall attempt by either team to mean that much more. In the end, we see Matt Hardy tag in Jeff Hardy, and land a Twist of Fate on Epico. Expecting a certain Swanton Bomb from Jeff, Matt turns his back to the corner, allowing Primo to simply shove Jeff off the top rope to crash hard on the floor, and land a Backstabber on Matt! But he isn't legal! Epico recovers as quick as possible, and goes for the pin, whilst Primo slides out of the ring and carefully places Epico's feet on the bottom rope for leverage. ONE! TWO! THREEEEEEE!?!!?! Primico have beaten the Hardyz!!! In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Primico defeated The Hardyz in 16:38 when Epico defeated Matt Hardy by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. 72 Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy showed excellent chemistry teaming together. Kenny Omega vs. Cody Rhodes Kenny has more potential in my opinion The Young Bucks vs. Enzo & Cass YB have a cuppa more haters than Enzo and Cass, who are not on the same level of wrestling compared to most of the teams here Chris Hero vs. Jay Lethal I would like a rolling elbow as a reverse to the Lethal Injection, but Jay takes this Pentagon & Fenix vs. The Wolves I don't like Fenix that much...
