<strong>CZCW Tonight!</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Saturday 13th April</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sacramento, California</p><p> </p><p>

Attendance: 3200</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="M31wwgr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M31wwgr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="SFoA0Jd.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SFoA0Jd.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="RsqIdxy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RsqIdxy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Al Coleman v. Miguel Rivera</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

This has an underlying tension in the sense that Coleman wants to keep it a mat-based grappling contest, whilst Rivera is keen to turn it into a brawl, which means that we see a lot of Rivera coming forwards with arms flailing, and succumbing to Coleman's drop toe-holds, trips, and snap powerslams, leaving him more and more frustrated.</p><p> </p><p>

In fact he has lots to be frustrated about, as Britney Hollywood at ringside proves to be an annoyance to him as well, with distractions, and always on the fringes of involvement behind the referee's back, notably lifting Coleman's leg onto the bottom rope to get Pee-wee Germaine to break a pinfall count. </p><p> </p><p>

Her most impactful involvement though is keeping Germaine's attention focused on her instead of the ring when American Flash runs down the aisle and lands a top rope huracanrana on Rivera, leaving him easy meat for Coleman to score with a double-knee facebreaker that results in a three count that's as inevitable as the rising sun.</p><p>

</p><p><span style="color:#000080;">

Winner: Al Coleman (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Coleman's on his way back up the aisle when Matt Sparrow comes out onto the stage with a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

“Hey Rivera, I guess you're right – it doesn't matter how you win your matches. As long as you win them, that is.” </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="h38yars.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h38yars.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Before he can get fully into gloating mode though, Sparrow is attacked from behind by Carlos Barrera, who gets in a couple of quick stomps as well, before American Flash arrives on the scene and drives him off. <span style="color:#000080;">(E+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rich and Famous (Jackpot Jordan/Jake Idol) v. The American Cobras (Jimmy Marvel/Storm Spillane)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Jake Idol is obviously fiercely determined here, as it is essentially his spot that he is fighting for in the Tag Champion team, but you get the impression from Jordan that he's just as interested in having Rich and Famous being the Coastal Zone Tag Champions, which makes you wonder about his commitment to Jonnie Perez during their period holding the titles.</p><p> </p><p>

Spillane and Marvel have a relative amount of freedom from pressure here – there's nothing really on the line for them, with their title shot confirmed for Welcome to the Coastal Zone in a few weeks, and it's an opportunity for them to scout their opponents, or certainly one half of them.</p><p> </p><p>

For all of Rich and Famous's intensity here though, it's Marvel who is the stand-out performer. His timing seems to be that notch above everybody else’s, and he and Spillane work some neat double team routines that leave Idol in particular floundering. Despite some moments of control from Jackpot, keeping Spillane on his heels with some nasty striking, it's the lariat/jawbreaker combination from Marvel on Idol that finishes things off, and destines Idol to a bit longer on the sidelines watching Perez defend the Tag Titles.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winners: The American Cobras ©</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="8W4HuZ5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8W4HuZ5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="CqRq3Bd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CqRq3Bd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

With the match over, Rich and Famous are left in the ring, and there seems to be a little bit of discord between them. The microphones don't pick up very much, but they do catch Idol complaining that he thought Jordan was arranging for them to pair up to defend the titles, not just for a “chance”, and Jordan replying that “at least I got us a chance at it – what did you do about it?”. They do leave together though, so perhaps all is not lost for them as a tag team. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="fS1Dos6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fS1Dos6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

We go backstage and find new Coastal Zone Champion Frankie Perez waiting to talk to us, or at least with something to say to Champagne Lover.</p><p> </p><p>

“When I first came to Coastal Zone, I thought it would be something of a stepping stone to bigger and better things – a bit like how Champagne Lover seems to be viewing his stint here. </p><p> </p><p>

“I was a younger man then, with dreams of making it big in the wrestling world. Perhaps shining on the big stage at the Supreme Challenge or Total Mayhem in front of 50,000 people. Perhaps with legendary matches against Sam Keith or Christian Faith, Tommy Cornell or Ricky Dale Johnson.</p><p> </p><p>

“As I learned more about the sport, I realised that, realistically, I wasn't built to be the sort of performer who was going to be picked up by those massive companies and made into a huge star. SWF has this thing about 'larger-than-life' characters, and for all it professes to be the place where 'proper' wrestling happens, you still needed to be a big guy in TCW to make an impact.</p><p> </p><p>

“So I became accustomed to being overlooked. I modified my dreams to encompass what I thought was more realistic. I resigned myself to a somewhat lower profile.</p><p> </p><p>

“But within that lower profile there has always been that little part of me waiting to escape from the shackles that the wrestling industry has put on me due to my physical stature and become something special. And here in Coastal Zone I found that, actually, I was something special – the fans here loved my style, even though it went beyond their regular preferences, and I was a regular contender for Championships – like this one.”</p><p> </p><p>

He taps the Coastal Zone Championship belt that is draped across his shoulder.</p><p> </p><p>

“And I came to realise that, it didn't matter who came into the company and made themselves a star, then left to go elsewhere. I was still one of the biggest and brightest lights here in California. That those who left to go elsewhere often found themselves... under-utilised... and though they might be getting paid slightly more, their life was more difficult, there was more travelling, they found they were less likely to be winners and champions and to get the opportunities that I've had here in Coastal Zone.</p><p> </p><p>

“So, I guess this is a warning of sorts for Champagne Lover. You've come in here with your big intentions of making your mark and then moving on to become a huge star in American wrestling. Well, I hope you learn from those who have gone before you, younger men than you too, who have come to Coastal Zone and seen it as a mere stepping stone, and then found themselves out of their depth when they've left to supposedly 'better themselves'.</p><p> </p><p>

“I know you think you're better than that; above all that. But I would suggest otherwise. After all, if you can't stop me beating you for the Coastal Zone Championship, why do you think you'd do better anywhere else, eh?” <span style="color:#000080;">©</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>

<img alt="4LdC9PO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4LdC9PO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="SFoA0Jd.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SFoA0Jd.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="lBWijwF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/lBWijwF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Remmy Skye v. Simon Waves</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Despite the momentum and confidence Waves might have gained from his successful tag outing last time out, this is more-or-less a showcase form Skye to show us what he can do, and for the fans to re-familiarise themselves with his performance in singles action. It isn't the best of matches, with the two men really not getting into any kind of rhythm together at all, but they do still manage to pull out an effort that keeps it from degenerating into something much below par.</p><p> </p><p>

Waves puts up a good fight, but he's just not in Skye's class, and it's only around nine minutes in before he is worn down sufficiently to succumb to the Skye Diver from the top rope for a rudimentary victory for the returnee. </p><p>

</p><p><span style="color:#000080;">

Winner: Remmy Skye (D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<img alt="hmvjBvS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hmvjBvS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

But there’s no time for him to celebrate his victory, as moments after the bell, Dave Wallace comes flying under the ropes and rugby-tackles Skye, mounting him and battering him with his fists. Referee Matthew White does his best to pull Wallace off the downed Skye, but he can't prevent Wallace getting in a few last heavy shots before he gets assistance from some of the backstage crew.</p><p> </p><p>

Skye gets back up to one knee, but he's got clear cuts on both his lip and his forehead, and no longer looks quite like the winner he did barely three minutes earlier. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="TCgCa9Z.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TCgCa9Z.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kgRgjfe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kgRgjfe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="SFoA0Jd.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SFoA0Jd.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="6AFoIhQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6AFoIhQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NIWpj1g.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NIWpj1g.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<strong>Super Ninja & Fox Mask v. Wild Cats (Tigre/El Jaguar)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The most obvious thing that we learn from this match is that Super Ninja and Fox Mask really don't work well together as a team. Their timing was all over the place in this bout, and it really dragged the level of the contest down below what these four men are capable of.</p><p> </p><p>

Wild Cats continue to show their all-round skills are improving, as they don't look out of place here against two guys that are supposed to be at the top of the Coastal Zone roster, and from time to time they give the more experienced men something of a run around, combining high-flying offense with frequent tags that keep them fresh and out of danger.</p><p> </p><p>

Fox Mask is still the best wrestler in the ring though, and he is the one that genuinely looks like he is most likely to pull out the victory, most of the time, which should be expected from the next challenger for the Coastal Zone Championship (not to mention a seven-time former holder of that strap). Twice he manages to hit the Fox Hunter, but on both occasions the Wild Cats were quick to rescue their partner from the pinning predicament, and it is only when he tags Ninja back in that the match finally comes to its conclusion, with the Ninja Strike being well placed and finding Tigre away from his own corner, which allows Fox Mask to intercept El Jaguar before Matthew White can complete his three count.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><span style="color:#000080;">

Winners: Super Ninja & Fox Mask (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><span style="color:#000080;">

Overall Show Grade: C-</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">

Author's Notes</span></p><p> </p><p>

Mildly annoyed that once again the main event has dragged the card down slightly when there was a better match between two midcard tag teams... still, you live and learn, I guess.</p><p> </p><p>

Prediction results: Everybody managed a complete set of four out of four except for WilburTrey, who banked on Rich and Famous going over The American Cobras and ended up with 3/4 for his troubles (sorry!)</p>

CZCW Tonight

Saturday 20th April

Preview

Welcome to your weekly dose of high-octane wrestling action, known as CZCW Tonight!

Following his comments about Al Coleman a couple of weeks ago, Jimmy Marvel has been granted the opportunity to put his words into action with a singles bout against Coleman this evening. Marvel has other items on his plate with a forthcoming Coastal Zone Tag Championship against Jackpot Jordan and Jonnie Perez at Welcome to the Coastal Zone in nine days time, so we wonder whether it is wise getting involved in extra curricular activities at this point.

With Marvel in singles action, his fellow American Cobra, Storm Spillane, will join forces with Champagne Lover in tag team action against newcomer Harry Allen and young Chet Chavez. Allen has been vocal in considering himself better than CZCW, so he'll be out to prove it tonight against former Coastal Zone champion Lover.

Also on the show, we'll have a Coastal Zone Xtreme title match between Champion Tigre, and former champion Waylon Walls. Walls was never awarded a re-match after losing the title to Jonnie Perez some weeks ago, so CZCW Management have acquiesced to a title bout here for him.

Our main event will see Number One Contender Fox Mask teaming up with Greg Black to take on Flash Sparrow, who will be keeping a close eye on the ramp tonight, as their feud with Notorious may well spill over into proceedings if they aren't watchful.

Join us tonight at 7pm, and see what else we've got in store for you!

</p><p><strong>

Jimmy Marvel v. Al Coleman</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Coleman seems his normal, cocky, arrogant self here, with little regard for Britney as she accompanies him to ringside, whilst Marvel looks determined and focused.</p><p> </p><p>

That's largely how the fight plays out, as well, with Marvel intent on making sure he controls the whole time, and Coleman not really taking the whole thing very seriously, until Marvel shocks him with a straight right out of nowhere that has Matthew White admonishing him for closed fist usage.</p><p> </p><p>

And whilst Coleman starts taking things more seriously, he finds that Marvel has upped his game a notch, frustrating him with counter-holds to Coleman's preferred wrestling style, then hitting him hard on the break, and with nice crisp precision when he gets flashier and takes it to the air. A couple of long two counts that follow a seated Senton and a hard Spinebuster respectively are all it takes for Coleman to decide he's not all that interested in this any longer, and he rolls out of the ring after breaking the second of those pinfall attempts and heads back to the locker room, leaving White with no option but to count him out.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Jimmy Marvel ©</span></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, and for the first time in a whilst we're going to hear from Dave Wallace.</p><p> </p><p>

“So, Remmy Skye, I ain't gonna beat around the bush here, but you're getting treatment you don't deserve, and I'm not standing for it. I've been here eight years and I've seen the kind of stunts you get up to.</p><p> </p><p>

“So when I heard you've been re-signed I had that sinkin' feelin' that you were gonna be getting' the special treatment when you got here.</p><p> </p><p>

“Everyone knows you're a goddam liability, Skye. We kicked you to the kerb a few years ago 'cos of it. You think that just 'cos we're looking for new faces again it means you can come right back in and pick up where you left off, and you're dead wrong, 'cos I ain't gonna let ya.</p><p> </p><p>

“If ya think you'll waltz back in here and be the golden boy, you got another thing coming to ya. So getting' a place in the Contenders match don't sit right with me, and I'll be on your case 'til it sinks in. You ain't getting' yourself a place here in Coastal Zone at my expense.</p><p> </p><p>

“Now, you can mend your ways, sure, and we'll see if you can actually be trusted again, but I ain't countin' no chickens, boy – I've seen you sneakin' in late a time or two already, and I don't trust we can rely on ya.</p><p> </p><p>

“So, I'm a-watchin' you boy-o, you can count on it, and I'll be right here ready to kick your ass to the kerb again if needs be. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Harry Allen & Chet Chavez v. Storm Spillane & Champagne Lover</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Allen has a disdainful look at his partner as this one starts, daring him to even think about offering to kick things off, and it's soon Allen in control against Spillane. In the opposite corner, Lover seems equally unconcerned about getting involved in the match-up, until he spots opportunities to do some real damage, and makes sure he gets in the ring when he's got the youngster Chavez to face rather than Allen.</p><p> </p><p>

All this means we end up with two essentially separate bouts, with Allen largely getting the better of Spillane, and Spillane's few spots that force Allen to tag out leading to Lover versus Chavez very quickly. It seems to bode well for the future that all four appear to be learning from this though.</p><p> </p><p>

But even with the co-operation of all four parties this can never be the case the whole time, and it's on one of the rare occasions when Lover is in the ring against Allen that we get the pivotal incident. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="fS1Dos6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fS1Dos6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Frankie Perez appears at ringside and pulls Spillane off the apron, and whilst Lover is distracted, Allen hits a Gunslinger's revenge from behind. A cover gets two, and Lover is reaching for his corner, but Perez is keeping Spillane away from being able to tag in, and as Lover hauls himself to his feet, he is in prime position for Allen's Savate Kick, and the subsequent cover easily gets the three.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><span style="color:#000080;">

Winners: Harry Allen & Chet Chavez (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p>

Allen celebrates by himself, completely ignoring his tag partner.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Next up, Jonnie Perez is out in the ring, but he's not dressed to compete. He's got a microphone instead though.</p><p> </p><p>

“So, last week I'm banned from the building, because Rich and Famous are scared that I'll get involved in their match, while they're getting the chance to take my Coastal Zone Tag Championship away from me, and I don't even get a say in it. So how is that fair, exactly?”</p><p> </p><p>

There are murmurings of support for Perez throughout the crowd.</p><p> </p><p>

“And yet, given that chance to have me excluded from continuing to hold the title I won, Pretty Jake Idol still can't get the job done.</p><p> </p><p>

“To be honest, Idol, it pretty much shows that you aren't as good as me and don't deserve to be defending the titles at Welcome to the Coastal Zone, so why don't you just step your overly pretentious butt out of the way and let Jackpot and myself have a clear run at it, right?</p><p> </p><p>

“I mean, it's not like you've earned the right to get involved. Jackpot and me'll show you how it's meant to be done.” <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Tigre © v. Waylon Walls</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Walls tries to get nasty in this one straight from the start, opening up with brass knuckles on and landing a couple of hefty blows to the ribs that put Tigre down and leave him gasping for air. From here it stays as an all-out brawl, mostly outside the ring, which is to Walls' strengths, and things only kick back into the masked wrestler's favour when he's able to reverse an Irish whip right into the announce table, and then hits a frog splash from the top turnbuckle.</p><p> </p><p>

This seems to impact Tigre almost as much as his opponent, and no doubt he's taken some injury to the rib area from the earlier shots, but it's still the Wild Cat that is up first, and a running bulldog is followed by a Tiger Suplex onto a handy steel chair, and that's enough to put Walls away at around the eight minute mark.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Tigre (D-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

There's a commotion going on backstage as we come to the end of the previous match, and we cut to the parking lot where Champagne Lover is laying into Frankie Perez in retaliation for his involvement in his match earlier in the night (among other things).</p><p> </p><p>

Perez's head gets bounced off a number of car hoods and Lover shoulder charges him into a concrete pillar, driving the wind out of him and sending him to the floor, where he continues to lay boots in until enough backstage staff can get to the lot and pull him away from the scene. EMTs come in to take a closer look at Perez and we cut back to the announce booth ahead of the main event. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Fox Mask & Greg Black v Flash Sparrow (American Flash/Matt Sparrow)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

As you might expect, Flash Sparrow aren't really able to concentrate their attention fully on this match, with the ever-present threat of Notorious making themselves known at ringside very early.</p><p> </p><p>

That's only part of the story here, though, as Number One Contender Fox Mask twists at a bad angle on an arm drag from Matt Sparrow about half-way through, and looks to be favouring that arm fairly heavily for the remainder of the match, and Flash Sparrow do their best to improvise and work that arm as much as they can.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="RsqIdxy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RsqIdxy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="h38yars.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h38yars.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Naturally, the end comes with involvement from the outside as, with American Flash criss-crossing the ring, he gets tripped up by the ropes by Carlos Barrera, and falls straight into a high knee from Greg Black, who immediately tags his partner in and allows him to hit the Fox Hunter for the three count, whilst out of the sight of Pee-wee Germaine Matt Sparrow is being held back by Miguel Rivera from interrupting the pinfall.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winners: Fox Mask & Greg Black (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p>

As Notorious retreat from the ring area you can see Rivera mouthing to Sparrow: "Yeah - win 'em. Right!"</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Overall Show Grade: C-</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Author's Notes</span></p><p> </p><p>

Not a lot to say on this one, other than the opener being the best received match... hmmm</p><p> </p><p>

On to the pick results. Martel123 scored 3/4 by virtue of going with Jimmy Marvel over Al Coleman, whilst everyone else picked Coleman. All five entrants correctly picked Tigre to retain and Fox Mask and Greg Black to win their tag encounter but didn't see Champagne Lover and Storm Spillane losing. The other four scores were all 2/4 as a result.</p><p> </p><p>

Finally, a "thank you" to all those who voted for me for Diary of the Month once again. I hope you are continuing to enjoy. </p><p> </p><p>

Finally, finally: next up (tomorrow, all being well), a reaction to the Fox Mask injury...</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Monday 22nd April 2016</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="UTmpDDF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/UTmpDDF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

One of the major difficulties in booking a wrestling company is that you never know when an injury might strike and completely disrupt everything you've been working towards.</p><p> </p><p>

On Saturday, for example, Fox Mask came out of his tag match with Flash Sparrow with an injury to his biceps. All four wrestlers did very well at incorporating the injury into the match, but it was a heart-stopping moment for me in terms of planning for future events.</p><p> </p><p>

Fox Mask is, of course, our number one contender and scheduled to challenge Frankie Perez for the Coastal Zone Championship at CZCW Welcome to the Coastal Zone in one week's time, and an injury that keeps him out of that match is a major blow – we've been promoting the match for several weeks and disappointing the fans by having to pull it from the card is a sure-fire way to lose their support.</p><p> </p><p>

Sure, we can cover it up somewhat by running an injury-related angle to insert someone else in the Title match, but that isn't preferable and requires adjusting a number of other planned stories, either to run longer or to be delayed.</p><p> </p><p>

Fortunately for us, Fox Mask is likely to be fit again in less than a week – the injury is only a strain, according to the doctor – and will be fit to perform at the big event. He isn't due to be wrestling on our next weekly show anyway, but there may be ways of fitting it in to make an angle out of it to enhance the Title match if we play things right.</p>

Notorious (Miguel Rivera/Carlos Barrera) v. The Gallaher Brothers (Ricky Hedges/Leigh Benson)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The biggest question that's raised here is why these two are known as The Gallaher Brothers when neither of them is called Gallaher, but apparently it's a mystery to the announce team, so maybe we'll hear more about it from Electric over time.</p><p> </p><p>

What isn't a mystery is that Notorious are ever-improving, and despite the best efforts of the new team to make the bout a mat wrestling clinic, the Latinos have little interest in doing so, and much prefer brawling. The closest we get to an upset is when Benson locks in a sleeper/choke-type submission on Rivera that we're told he's dubbed the “Sunday Morning Call”, but he makes the mistake of backing into his opponents' corner, where Barrera clubs away at him until he releases.</p><p> </p><p>

Barrera gets himself back into the ring soon after that, and is able to put Hedges away with a massive spinebuster at around nine minutes.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winners: Notorious (D)</span></p><p> </p><p>

As Notorious celebrate their win, Cliff Anderson tells us all that he's made the match between them and Flash Sparrow at Welcome to the Coastal Zone a No disqualification, No count out match, which he hopes will leave some of the recent 'outs' for Notorious at the door and provide us with a definitive result.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="kgRgjfe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kgRgjfe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="eAwRzZ2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eAwRzZ2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, Fox Mask is once again passing on some useful tips to his protégé Bullseye, including focusing on working over a particular part of the body. You can see from his body language that Fox Mask is still struggling with his shoulder somewhat. <span style="color:#000080;">(C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Elsewhere backstage, Jonnie Perez and Jake Idol appear to have caught up with one another and are trading fisticuffs – Perez has Idol backed into the corner and is laying in with lefts and rights, but then Idol kicks a leg out from under him and dives forward on top, starting to lay in with punches of his own as backstage crew members show up and try pulling them apart.</p><p> </p><p>

Neither man looks like they are done with the other though, and it's hard work for the road crew as another bout of violence erupts, Perez driving Idol backwards into a stack of crates and landing a knee into his groin area, putting him down. Eventually order is restored as a swarm of other wrestlers come out to assist the crew, and Perez is dragged off to another area of the building. <span style="color:#000080;">(E)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Storm Spillane v. El Jaguar</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

With both of the tag partners of these men having other things on their plates, you could be forgiven for thinking that these two might not be fully focused when it comes to a one-off match like this that doesn't appear to have any real significance, but both definitely seem up for the challenge. </p><p> </p><p>

Spillane's improvement over recent months is clear to see, and he is now a stronger wrestler than Jaguar. Whilst Jaguar can still rely on his speed and athleticism to make sure that his opponent has to take him seriously, he hasn't jumped up that notch in confidence, smoothness and general capability that Spillane seems to have done, and it is of less surprise than it would have been at the start of the year when Spillane is able to cinch in his kneeling Boston Crab submission hold after a quick reversal of an attempted head-scissors by Jaguar, and the masked luchadore is forced to give up.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Storm Spillane (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, and we're with Remmy Skye, dressed in surfer shorts and a Hawaiian shirt that takes a bit of blinking to get over.</p><p> </p><p>

“Hey Dudes! Long time, right?</p><p> </p><p>

“Well I'm just pleased as can be to be back here in Coastal Zone where you all know my name and appreciate me, man. I mean, I hear what that wannabe Dave Wallace is sayin', man, but he's got no idea. I mean, he used to be known as Weasel, for Pete's sake, so, like, he ain't got much to talk about, has he?</p><p> </p><p>

“But he's got some seriously bad vibe, man. Like, I know I haven’t always been the most reliable kinda dude around here, but you all love me, don't ya?”</p><p> </p><p>

He gets a pretty big cheers for that, so it seems that his past indiscretions may well have been forgiven by the fans here, even if they haven't been by some on the roster itself.</p><p> </p><p>

“That's the spirit, Dudes!</p><p> </p><p>

“Hey, I'm sure you'll all have plenty of chances to see me in action. I know I made some mistakes in the past, man, but to err is human, right? So just give me a chance! I'm sure I can prove to you all that I'm still worthy of a place at the top of Coastal Zone, and ya know, maybe someday soon I can be challenging for that Coastal Zone Championship, whatever that miserable old weasel thinks!” (C-)</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jimmy Marvel v. Jackpot Jordan</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

These two will go head to head again on Monday at CZCW Welcome to the Coastal Zone for the Tag Championships with their respective current partners, so no surprises that the early going here is a feeling out process, and it takes some minutes before the match gets into any sort of rhythm.</p><p> </p><p>

But once it does get moving, it turns into a pretty decent little contest. Jordan still likes to showboat a little too much, and that costs him on several occasions when Marvel takes advantage of his lack of desire to press on after hitting a big move successfully, and the American Cobra gets the chance to recover more often than a more focused opponent would allow him to.</p><p> </p><p>

Ultimately though, the improvements that Marvel has been showing recently come to the fore – Jordan goes to the top turnbuckle to attempt a cross-body on the downed Marvel, but he is too slow to get into position, and Marvel pops up to hit a superplex from the top that puts Jordan down and winded. Marvel being first to recover, he is in good position to hit his Marvel Breaker, which finishes things quite neatly.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Jimmy Marvel (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Post-match, The Guru is speculating about the momentum that The American Cobras will be taking into Monday's Tag Championship match – singles wins for both men tonight, on the back of a non-title tag victory over Jordan and Idol just a couple of weeks ago, leaves them with a good feeling about their chances.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

But as Marvel is descending from the ring, he is blind-sided by Al Coleman, who has come running down the aisle and hits Marvel with a flying forearm. He lays into the downed Cobra with boots and a number of knees to the forehead, before referee Matthew White realises what is going on and is able to call for help from the back. By the time Coleman is pulled away from Marvel, he isn't looking too pretty, whilst all the time, Jackpot Jordan looks on with a smirk as he realises that the chances of defending the tag belts successfully have just risen a notch. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Frankie Perez & Super Ninja v. Going Coastal (Lance Trueman/Fernandes Franklin)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The biggest surprise about this bout isn't the result, or even the performances of the four participants, it's that we see no sign of Champagne Lover, whose recent disagreements with Perez you would have though would had led to some sort of interference or involvement here, and it never materialised.</p><p> </p><p>

Perez was clearly the star of the show, with the other three seeming a little lacking in motivation, and he certainly carried the match to a decent level that would otherwise have been lacking.</p><p> </p><p>

It was only fitting, therefore, that it was Perez that came out with the victory - a neat double team backbreaker with Ninja left Franklin on his back and in all sorts of trouble, and Perez simply applied the Perfect Parity to pick up the pinfall at about the fifteen minute mark. Despite coming out with the L against his name, Franklin did show a few new tricks, and going up against a veteran team like Perez and Ninja obviously taught him a few new tricks.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winners: Frankie Perez & Super Ninja (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Overall Show Grade: C-</span></p><p><span style="color:#000080;">

</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Author's Notes</span></p><p> </p><p>

A full house of four for Theheel and Martel123 this time around, with three out of four for BHK1978 (who missed out on Jimmy Marvel) and CobheadJake (who picked the established tag team in the Main Event).</p><p> </p><p>

Still struggling to get over that C- hump!</p><p> </p><p>

Next up, the preview for Welcome to the Coastal Zone.</p>

CZCW Welcome to the Coastal Zone

Monday 1st May 2016

Preview

Greetings! CZCW brings you one of its highlights of the year tonight with CZCW Welcome to the Coastal Zone.

All year we have been selecting our Number One Contender for the Coastal Zone Championship through a four-way match at the previous event, and it is no different here, with the big winner at Spring Break Bash, Fox Mask, attempting to make it an eighth Coastal Zone Championship reign as he goes up against defending champion Frankie Perez. Perez's focus over the last few weeks has been more on previous champ Champagne Lover than on his opponent tonight, but now he will have to focus fully on the opponent in front of him if he is to remain our featured draw.

Meanwhile, Lover has to be content with an opportunity to get himself back into the title picture – he's involved in the contest to determine the next title challenger, alongside recent signing Harry Allen, who seems set on disparaging any and all who sail in CZCW, the wrestling machine Greg Black, stung by his loss last month to Al Coleman, and wily veteran Super Ninja.

The re-debuting Remmy Skye will take on veteran Dave Wallace in something of a grudge match. Wallace seems to be less than pleased at Skye's re-integration into Coastal Zone, and has made it clear that he thinks the former tag champ is unreliable and will only let the fans down, whilst Skye is keen for this to be the second chance he feels he has worked for to prove his doubters wrong and to atone for his previous indiscretions.

The Coastal Zone Tag Championships will also be on the line tonight. Jackpot Jordan and Jonnie Perez teamed up together during Jake Idol's injury problems to win the titles back at CZCW uprising, but there is tension in the Rich and Famous camp, and Idol has been itching to get his partnership with Jordan back on track, feeling that Perez should make way for him. Naturally, Perez disagreed, and there is definitely something about to boil over, which could provide an opportunity for The American Cobras, the challengers this evening. The Cobras have had problems of their own recently though, with Jimmy Marvel sticking his nose into Al Coleman's recent issues with Willow and previous opponent Greg Black. Whether this comes to anything tonight remains to be seen, but you can be certain that it will drag on into next month if nothing else!

The arguments between Flash Sparrow and Notorious also seem to be ongoing, and Cliff Anderson has deemed that tonight's tag bout between the two teams will be a No DQ, No Count-out affair, to try and resolve some of the arguments – recently Flash Sparrow have been rather dubious about the quality of the wins that Notorious have picked up and made their feelings plain – which didn't go down well with the Latino duo.

We'll also have a further tag match on hand, as Wild Cats and Going Coastal will go head-to-head as they look to position themselves for another run at the tag titles.
