<strong>CZCW Welcome to the Coastal Zone</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

<strong>Wild Cats (Tigre/El Jaguar) v. Going Coastal (Lance Trueman/Fernandes Franklin)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Relatively low key in terms of where these two teams stand at the moment, and not with a great deal riding on it, but it serves as an excellent pipe-opener for the crowd, and gets them invested in the evening's entertainment. Wild Cats put on their usual effervescent display, hitting their usual high spots, including a beautiful 450 Splash from Tigre that would have put Lance Trueman away had it actually hit something other than the bigger man's knees.</p><p> </p><p>

Jaguar was there in order to break up the pinfall attempt that followed swiftly from Trueman, but is still on his way out of the ring when Franklin gets the tag in and absolutely levels Tigre with a huge lariat, and after Franklin follows that up with a Tornado DDT, Trueman is able to cut Jaguar off when he tries to make a second intervention, and Pee-wee Germaine counts the three before he can get to his partner.</p><p>

Winners: Going Coastal (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Harry Allen is in the backstage interview area and has a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

“You call this a big show?” he sneers. “This isn't even equal to the House Shows that I've been working on over the last ten years. It's hardly worth my while turning up for such a pitiful event, and jeez, the quality of the catering here leaves a lot to be desired, too!</p><p> </p><p>

“When Coastal Zone promised me the best competition in America they were obviously lying out of their back teeth. </p><p> </p><p>

“But then maybe they do think it will take three other men to prevent me winning tonight; that they are scared that I'll just walk away with their title shot and dethrone their champion at the first attempt, showing you all exactly what sort of level I'm at when compared with the rabble here.</p><p> </p><p>

“Still, stack the deck against me all you like, CZCW. I'll still come out on top. Because I'm simply better than all of you.</p><p> </p><p>

“Super Ninja: I kicked your ass around TCW often enough I'm surprised you even want into this contest.</p><p> </p><p>

“Greg Black: You couldn't beat me if you and Benny Benson teamed up together, but I can see exactly why TCW picked him up and not you.</p><p> </p><p>

“Champagne Lover: You come in here thinking it's a stepping stone? Well maybe it is, but right now you're my stone for steppin' on.”</p><p> </p><p>

He shakes his head, almost in dismay.</p><p> </p><p>

“This is the best you've got, Coastal Zone?</p><p> </p><p>

“Pitiful.” <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Flash Sparrow (American Flash/Matt Sparrow) v. Notorious (Miguel Rivera/Carlos Barrera)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Early indications in this suggest that it will be a brawl, with Notorious making the most of the stipulations to utilise as much of the ringside hardware as they can in their efforts. American Flash eats the ring steps as he tries a plancha from inside out onto Barrera, and gets clocked with a couple of shots from a steel chair before Matt Sparrow can intervene. It's essentially two-on-one for a while with Flash down, but Sparrow does his best to hold his own, managing to evade a charging Spear from Rivera that ends up hitting Barrera instead.</p><p> </p><p>

Once Flash is back into the action, the momentum swings back their way for a while, but it is he who gets the worst of things once again, with a brief double team that sees him dumped heavily onto the guardrail on his stomach, and leaving Sparrow on his own.</p><p> </p><p>

Sparrow fights hard, and ultimately Notorious have to delve into the bag of dirty tricks to finish him off. A low blow from Barrera puts him down, and he's left in no position to defend his head from the chair shots from both opponents that follow, and referee Germaine eventually has to intervene to argue with Rivera and tell him to make the pinfall instead of raining down further blows.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winners: Notorious (D-)</span></p><p> </p><p>

At ringside, Cliff Anderson is annoyed with himself and is muttering about it not being the way he thought the stipulation would work, so it might not be the end of things yet!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, Al Coleman has a microphone and a grudge. No change there, then! He also has Britney Hollywood alongside him, which makes it slightly more bearable.</p><p> </p><p>

“Let me make this perfectly clear to you, Jimmy Marvel. You chose to interfere in a matter that was none of your business, for reasons that are beyond comprehension.</p><p> </p><p>

“Now, you can walk away and keep your nose and your opinions to yourself, or I can make life difficult for you.</p><p> </p><p>

“You're in a tag title match tonight. You want to win those titles? Keep your nose out of my business.</p><p> </p><p>

“You want to keep those titles? Keep your nose out of my business.</p><p> </p><p>

“Otherwise? I can damn-well guarantee that every time you turn around I'm going to be there. I'll be there when you're giving an interview backstage. I'll be there when you're in a match.</p><p> </p><p>

“You won't be wining anything for months. In fact, it'll be a “Marvel” if you ever win a match again.</p><p> </p><p>

“Consider this your one and only warning.”</p><p> </p><p>

He sneers at the camera and turns away <span style="color:#000080;">(D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Remmy Skye v. Dave Wallace</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

As usual, Skye looks pretty relaxed as he comes to the ring, happy to stop and chat to a few fans on his way down, in complete contrast to Wallace, for whom intensity pretty much exudes from every pore. That contrast continues once the bell rings, with Skye dodging and evading a number of charging attacks from Wallace that have the crowd calling out “Olé”s for each miss.</p><p> </p><p>

Frustration begins to build for Wallace, but he does start to get himself slightly more sensibly focused and into a better mindset for the bout, taking control of Skye on the mat with a nasty dragon-screw leg-whip that he follows up with extra torque on the knee as he wrenches at it in a couple of different moves on the ground. </p><p> </p><p>

Skye is clearly hobbled a bit when he does manage to get back to his feet, but that doesn't stop him laying it on the line – a reversed Irish Whip leads into a side slam and he goes up top to launch a flying elbow, but Wallace is within touching distance of the ropes and is able to force the count to be broken fairly easily.</p><p> </p><p>

Eventually, Wallace goes back to the knee, but whatever he does he can't seem to get Skye to tap out or to stay down long enough to get the three count. In the end, Wallace has a figure-four locked in, and is blatant about using the ropes to get additional leverage, with Skye screaming to the Gods, but still refusing to give up. Matthew White spots the cheating and tries to get Wallace to release, but he refuses. White gives a five count, but Wallace still hangs on and the referee has no choice but to go to the disqualification.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Remmy Skye (by DQ) (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="hmvjBvS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hmvjBvS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Wallace eventually breaks the hold when he hears the bell ring, but it is because he is so incensed with the referee, rather than for any other reason, and he goes to town on poor White for the decision, whilst Skye is receiving medical attention, and barely stops himself from striking the official.</p><p> </p><p>

Seeing Skye still down, Wallace chases the EMTs off and drops a couple of elbows onto Skye's injured knee for effect, before eventually calming down and heading off back to the locker room. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jackpot Jordan & Jonnie Perez © v. The American Cobras (Jimmy Marvel/Storm Spillane)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Once again, the complete lack of chemistry between the tag champions brings a match that could have been really good down a notch or two to merely decent. The Cobras do their best to show off their best teamwork to try and compensate for their opponents, and for the most part it looks as though that's exactly what will win them the tag straps, and their greater fluency and better understanding of what their partner needs from them allows them to gain the momentum in the early stages with a series of quick tags that keep Jonnie Perez isolated in the challengers' corner, and then maintain it even when Perez is able to tag his partner in.</p><p> </p><p>

On the other hand, the nous of Jordan, in particular is enough to keep the champions in the match, however barely, and after five or six minutes they are able to reverse the tide of pressure. Jordan's High Roller bulldog puts Spillane in a bind when he's too far from his corner for Marvel to intervene on a pinfall attempt, and he only just kicks out of the lateral press at the last moment.</p><p> </p><p>

Further momentum shifts both ways see this going past fifteen minutes, but it isn't a big move or a mistake on the part of one team or the other that eventually decides things, it's the involvement of Jake Idol.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="CqRq3Bd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CqRq3Bd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Running down the aisle as Spillane covers Jordan after a hard spinebuster, Idol immediately attracts the attention of Matthew White, and is warned not to interfere, but it's enough to distract everyone except Jordan, who rolls Spillane up and grabs hold of the ropes for additional leverage. He's unfortunate that White spots it before his hand hits the mat for the third time, and cuts off the count to remonstrate with Jordan. Meanwhile, with the referee otherwise occupied, Idol pulls Jonnie Perez off the apron and smashes him with a DDT onto the ringside floor, laying into him with a couple of boots, whilst Spillane, recovered from the shock roll-up a few moments earlier hits the distracted Jordan with a backbreaker and covers for the full count.</p><p> </p><p>

Jordan pops out just a fraction too late, and can be seen looking around for his tag partner, but all he see is Idol walking back up the aisle away from him.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winners: The American Cobras (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

As the cameras show the Cobras celebrating and Jordan looking disgusted, Al Coleman flies in from off-camera and takes out the knee of Jimmy Marvel. He manages to land a couple of additional hard rights before Storm Spillane drives him off and out of the ring, before tending to his tag partner. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Champagne Lover v. Harry Allen v. Greg Black v. Super Ninja</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Four men with very different outlooks on life, but who all have the same aim (for now) – to be the next to receive a Coastal Zone Championship opportunity. You get the impression that once the bell rings, their differing motivations don't really matter here, and all four really seem in the mood to make this one count.</p><p> </p><p>

In the early going it's clear that Black's ground game is superior to the others, but he just doesn't get the opportunity to use it to win in this kind of environment, and whenever he has an opponent grounded he's always at risk of being assailed from behind by one of the other competitors. Lover, in particular, seems to take delight in breaking off from whomever he is duelling with to break up Black's work, even to the extent that he's prepared to leave himself open to do so.</p><p> </p><p>

This brings about the first attempt at a finish, when Lover disengages from Harry Allen to drop an elbow onto the spine of Black, who has Super Ninja locked up in a reverse figure-four leg-lock, only to find that Allen is quickly on him with a Gunslinger's Revenge. With Black and Ninja still engaged together on the ground, Lover is lucky to be able to kick out at two-and-a-half to save himself.</p><p> </p><p>

We see a few variations of the usual four-way finishes, with men outside the ring having to rush back in to break pinfalls up, but in the end it's Black who ditches the mat wrestling to hit Champagne Lover with a Back to the Black and he's able to get the three before either of the other two men realise that the threat has materialised.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Greg Black ©</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kgRgjfe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kgRgjfe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage with Fox Mask, who is asked how it feels to be attempting to win the Coastal Zone Championship for a record eighth time.</p><p> </p><p>

“Well, to be pedantic, it's not my eighth attempt, you know, but I know what you mean.” </p><p> </p><p>

He ponders very briefly.</p><p> </p><p>

“I think you can say that it's a measure of the respect that the organisation has for my work here that I keep being given opportunities. That the fans want to see me out here trying still, after all my previous efforts.</p><p> </p><p>

“Being a former seven time Champion has it's downsides as well – it means that I've lost the title seven times as well as having won it seven times.</p><p> </p><p>

“But that's part and parcel of working in this business. You succeed, whether transiently or for a more lengthy period, but there's always another challenger at the next event, and you always have to be prepared to meet that challenge each time.</p><p> </p><p>

“So, I guess it says something about my longevity, my tenacity, my sense of purpose, and all the hard work I've had to put in over the years to get to a position where I'm challenging for an eighth title, but I know that around the corner, even should I take the belt for the eighth time, there's another challenger, another threat, and it's inevitable that I will, eventually, also lose the title for an eighth time.</p><p> </p><p>

“That's just how it works.” <span style="color:#000080;">(C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Frankie Perez © v. Fox Mask</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The crowd are definitely behind Fox Mask here, as a regular champion and someone who doesn't really give them anything to complain about. Perez's cheers are mixed in with a few boos. He's been less of a regular until the weekly show was moved to Saturdays, and perhaps the fans don't quite trust his motivations quite as much.</p><p> </p><p>

As a contest it's very even, and a good spectacle. Both men throw them, selves around with abandon, and the change-up that Perez brings with his kicks really makes things interesting. In fact things nearly finish very early on when Fox Mask goes for a Flying Fox from the top rope only to meet a stiff Savate kick from Perez on his way down that gets a very long two count and sees Perez looking at referee Matthew White quizzically.</p><p> </p><p>

Perez maintains the upper hand for quite some time following that, before Fox Mask eventually makes his comeback countering a head kick by ducking underneath and transitioning into a leg hook suplex that knocks the wind out of Perez. Unfortunately for the contest a flailing leg also catches White hard and he's down and out.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>

<img alt="UTmpDDF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/UTmpDDF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Which of course presages the entrance of Champagne Lover. Despite being remonstrated with by Fox Mask, he shoves the masked wrestler away and hits two consecutive Lover Stunners on Perez to a chorus of boos from the fans, before rolling out of the ring.</p><p> </p><p>

As White begins to recover, Fox Mask looks a little at a loss as what to do, but there's no danger of Perez recovering any time soon, and the referee turns his own quizzical look on the wrestlers. It looks for a moment as though Fox Mask is going to walk out and give Perez the Count Out victory, but his eye is caught by the title belt at ringside. He sighs heavily and moves to cover Perez, and the three count is administered.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Author's Notes</span></p><p> </p><p>

I'm a bit unhappy with bouncing the main title around like this, but it still feels like the best way to get things to where I want them, and Donnie getting picked up by USPW in the first month switched all sorts of things around from where I wanted them in my original planning. Frankie and Lover will be having another go around (or two) without the title involved, and there are one or two other issues still unresolved from this Event. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

In terms of predictions, we had a three-way tie for first place, with MisterRomanini, WilburTrey and CobheadJake all scoring 5/6 in the same manner, with the Coastal Zone Title match being their only miss. BHK1978 and Martel123 each scored 4/6 - Martel was the only one to pick a Fox Mask victory, but was also the only one who thought that Jordan and J.Perez would retain the tag titles - and Theheel scored 3/6, picking Harry Allen to win the contendership match when everybody else correctly picked Greg Black.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks very much for predicting, everyone, and for all the votes for Diary of the Month, too.</p>

<p>Harry Allen was obviously cheated out of his truly rightful place by Black. He should demand a singles match to prove he is the rightful #1 contender.</p><p> </p><p>

Fox Mask/Bullseye vs. The Gallaher Brothers - Could see a situation where they pin Bullseye and Mask says he stills has much to learn... then again, I'm probably wrong.

<strong>Fox Mask & Bullseye v. The Gallaher Brothers (Ricky Hedges/Leigh Benson)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The eight time Coastal Zone champion is the only veteran in this match and it falls to him to provide much of the direction for it. Bullseye is constantly looking to him for him cue, whilst the young Brits are taking regular tips from Electric at ringside. </p><p> </p><p>

For the earlier part of the bout the Brits do tend to have the upper hand, and this is largely down to the constant interference from their manager any time she gets the opportunity. Matthew White warns Electric on a number of occasions that he's on to her little eccentricities, and that he's keeping an eye out for things that he hadn't expected, but eventually the experience of Fox Mask starts to tell, and it's one of those days when you start to think that the veteran is actually learning and improving more than his protégé is.</p><p> </p><p>

The champ starts taking over more and more for his team, only tagging out to Bullseye when he really needs to, and after around ten minutes is able to get into good position to hit the Fox Hunter on Leigh Benson for the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

We head backstage to the locker room, where Jake Idol and Jackpot Jordan are in a somewhat heated discussion. They're clearly discussing the Coastal Zone Tag Title match from Welcome to the Coastal Zone, and Jordan is clearly not happy.</p><p> </p><p>

“What the hell was that all about?” Jordan is asking as we cut to the scene. “I thought we'd agreed that we'd be able to get the titles transitioned back onto the two of us?”</p><p> </p><p>

“I'm not sitting here and watching whilst that asshole Perez takes my place in Rich and Famous,” Idol replies. “You didn't seem all that interested in helping me get my belt back.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Hey, I spent good money trying to get you the opportunity to fight your way back in. It's not my fault that Anderson insisted we had to win as a team first!”</p><p> </p><p>

“You shouldn't have given him the chance!” Idol ripostes angrily. “You should have just said the cash was for a straight swap of the title onto me!”</p><p> </p><p>

“He was never going to go for that, Jake! Not after Perez won the title alongside me!”</p><p> </p><p>

“And who really won that match for you anyway?” Idol argues. “It's not like I wasn't involved!”</p><p> </p><p>

“Yeah, look, I'm doing what I can, alright? I reckon I can get the two of us a re-match anyway.”</p><p> </p><p>

Idol grumbles, nut it looks as though the argument is over for now, and the camera cuts away again. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Greg Black v. Simon Waves</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

A fairly short match, but not a bad one nevertheless, with Black doing all the right things to establish his credentials with the fans as a challenger for the Coastal Zone Championship. He keeps the contest largely confined to mat work until he is sure that he has the significant advantage and has worn his opponent down, then begins hitting some big moves, with a heavy Spinebuster and a Frog Splash setting up a Bling Thing that Waves has no chance of kicking out from.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Greg Black (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Backstage again, and we're with Champagne Lover, who's waiting to talk to us all. Or perhaps, more accurately, to Frankie Perez.</p><p> </p><p>

“Ah Frankie! Thought you'd take my title away from me and have a nice long run as Coastal Zone Champion, did you?</p><p> </p><p>

“I see you've realised that it doesn't work like that – if there's one thing that you can count on it is that the greatest wrestler in the world will always get his revenge.</p><p> </p><p>

“It isn't over yet, either, young Frankie – let us put it to bed in one final match at Surf Slam, where I can show you and the world exactly why I have come to America, and how my skills will take me much further in this business than yours have ever done.</p><p> </p><p>

“Yes, indeed. Let the masses watch in anticipation of Champagne Lover setting out on a new era of his domination in American wrestling, and teem with envy at my magnificent talents.</p><p> </p><p>

“Yes... it will be a great sight to behold...” <span style="color:#000080;">(C+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Matt Sparrow v. Al Coleman</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Hands up those of you who expect this one to conclude without anyone else getting involved? No? Didn't think so.</p><p> </p><p>

The shenanigans start early, with Britney Hollywood doing her best to distract Sparrow at every chance – a deliberate shake of the caboose in his direction when she knows he's looking, and a drawing up of her skirt to show off a little more leg just when it looks as though he might be getting the upper hand – but Sparrow does his best to shake off the urge to keep his eyes on the pretty valet and focus more intensely on his opponent.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="0w8AblZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/0w8AblZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Unfortunately for Coleman, he isn't able to ignore the distraction that arrives when Jimmy Marvel appears at ringside shouting abuse at him. About the only thing that the microphones pick up that is repeatable is Marvel shouting “you've got a hell of a way of encouraging me to mind my business when you decide to stick your own nose in” at him.</p><p> </p><p>

Eventually, the words start getting to Coleman, despite Britney's attempts to calm him down, and he makes a lunge for Marvel, but in doing so turns his back on Sparrow, who immediately capitalises with a reverse DDT and then his Bird Brain Buster finisher to get the three count.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Matt Sparrow (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

Unsurprisingly things aren't concluded here. Whilst Marvel takes off back up the aisle to the locker room, sliding in under the ropes come Notorious, and attack Sparrow from behind. He gets a thorough beat-down from Rivera and Berrera, which ends with Berrera setting up a table in the middle of the ring, and Rivera powerbombing Sparrow through it.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="IbNki7T.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IbNki7T.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

American Flash comes charging down the aisle, but he is too late, and having done the damage they intended, Notorious are off again whilst Flash checks on his tag partner and signals for some assistance from the back. <span style="color:#000080;">(E+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Remmy Skye & Harry Allen v. Wild Cats (Tigre/El Jaguar)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Two very phlegmatic characters with very different reasons teaming up here: Skye just seems unconcerned by much of what goes on around him, happy to put his body on the line with some innovative high-flying whenever he sees the opening, whilst Allen seems to flow with confidence, perhaps just through the cockiness of his self-belief that there's nobody here that can actually cause him any trouble.</p><p> </p><p>

It turns out to be a decent contest as well, with the masked luchadores giving as good as they get for the most part, showcasing some of their own aerial abilities and their fluency as a tag team, but it is Skye who seems to be the real star here, able to turn his opponents' tricks back on them, and notably countering a top rope hurancanrana from Jaguar into a flip face-plant that we're told he's dubbed the “Skye Clash”.</p><p> </p><p>

That only gets a two count, as it happens, but Jaguar is in no shape to defend against the follow-up top rope elbow drop which looks like will be the finishing blow, except that Allen has blind-tagged himself in with Skye on the top turnbuckle in his own corner, and immediately after Skye's big move hits he's there to take the cover for himself, which proves to be academic.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winners: Remmy Skye & Harry Allen (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

As Skye turns to Allen to protest his theft of the pinfall he sees that Allen is already busy taunting Wild Cats as they make their way back up the aisle, and doesn’t notice Dave Wallace coming into the ring on his blind side.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="hmvjBvS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hmvjBvS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Wallace levels Skye with a massive clothesline and follows up by laying in with the boots, and finishing him off with a standing moonsault to the back that leaves Skye lying in pain as the trainers and EMTs make their way down to the ring. Allen has headed back to the locker room in apparent disinterest. <span style="color:#000080;">(D)</span></p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><span style="color:#000080;">

Overall Show Grade: C-</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Author's Notes</span></p><p> </p><p>

CobheadJake was the only one to pick Matt Sparrow for the win (slightly surprisingly, I thought) and that helped him to a solid 3/4 for this round of predictions. That wasn't enough to earn him an outright victory, though, as he was joined on that mark by BHK1978. They were the only two that picked Skye and Allen to go over the more regular tag duo. Theheel, WilburTrey and Martel123 all scored 2/4 with identical picks.</p><p> </p><p>

A little bit of a holding pattern this episode, as we follow/develop some of the ongoing stories rather than necessarily generating new ones...</p>

<strong>CZCW Tonight!</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Saturday 13th May 2016</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sacramento, California</p><p> </p><p>

Attendance: 3700</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="fS1Dos6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fS1Dos6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="SFoA0Jd.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SFoA0Jd.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="IbNki7T.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IbNki7T.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Frankie Perez v. American Flash</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Rather a surprising choice to open the event with, given the level of performance that these two are capable of, and they go at it hammer and tongs for twelve minutes before we get any clear separation. Perez seems to shy away from using much of his striking arsenal here, and relies quite heavily on his high flying mixed in with a little mat work, whilst Flash is, of course, best known for his flashy Aerial work.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="h38yars.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h38yars.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="RsqIdxy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RsqIdxy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

It's brought to a rather premature conclusion however by the involvement of Carlos Barrera. Whilst Miguel Rivera distracts referee Matthew White, Barrera grabs Flash's head and drops his throat across the top rope, leaving him easy prey to a Savate kick from Perez that nearly takes him head off, and is more than sufficient to keep him down for a three count.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Frankie Perez (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="h38yars.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h38yars.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="RsqIdxy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RsqIdxy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="fS1Dos6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fS1Dos6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="IbNki7T.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IbNki7T.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Barely has the bell sounded than Miguel Rivera and Carlos Barrera have appeared in the ring and are laying boots into American Flash. Frankie Perez belatedly gets involved in trying to defend his vanquished opponent, but the two on one gets turned on him fairly quickly.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>

<img alt="BSpeCRC.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BSpeCRC.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

To a great cheer from the fans though, out from the back comes Matt Sparrow, his ribs all taped up, and he comes charging down to the ring to get involved. Faced with a three-on-two disadvantage, Notorious consider their options and conclude that discretion is the better part of valour, and slide out of the ring and slink back to the locker rooms. <span style="color:#000080;">(D-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="CqRq3Bd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CqRq3Bd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="SFoA0Jd.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SFoA0Jd.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="TCLwUXm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TCLwUXm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jake Idol v. Storm Spillane</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Perhaps the lesser thought of partners in their respective tag teams, these two are keen here to show what they can do as individuals, but as opponents they don't really seem to click, and the fluency that they might have had is lacking that something that could have made this bout more than the simply average contest it turned out to be. </p><p> </p><p>

Idol's motivation, in particular, is fired up by the recent issues he's been having with his tag partner and with Jonnie Perez, but even so there still seems to be something lacking from his performance tonight.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="ETytxjZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ETytxjZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Perhaps it's the expectation that Perez will get himself involved in the match. If so it's fully justified, as when Pee-wee Germaine goes down from a Spillane lariat that misses Idol, Jonnie is suddenly in the ring and blasts Idol with a steel chair. Unsurprisingly that's more than enough for a victory for Spillane when he makes the cover, even though he has to rouse Germaine to make the count.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Storm Spillane (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="4LdC9PO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4LdC9PO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, and we're with Remmy Skye.</p><p> </p><p>

“Hey dudes, good to see ya!</p><p> </p><p>

“Say, I'm gettin' a bit fed up of that Dave Wallace y'know. Seems like he's got a mad on for some reason. Thinks I'm taking his spot, or I don't deserve to be here or somethin'.”</p><p> </p><p>

“It's all just wrestlin' man. I mean, if I'm good enough, why not be here? Not like he ain't had the chances to show what he can do since I was last here. You might even say me leavin' gave him that chance.</p><p> </p><p>

“But hey, I'm just here to do what I do, man. That's what matters – when you get 'tween those ropes and show the crowds your skills.</p><p> </p><p>

“So if ya wanna do that, Dave, sure I'm up for it, dude. Just name the time and place, man.” <span style="color:#000080;">(C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="hmvjBvS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hmvjBvS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="SFoA0Jd.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SFoA0Jd.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="bloyZ9M.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bloyZ9M.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<strong>Dave Wallace v. Chet Chavez</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

On another day you might feel for the referees, but it seems like today they have missed pretty much every relevant piece of interference in every match, and that doesn't instil an awful lot of confidence.</p><p> </p><p>

Wallace is clearly in charge here, and is set to put Chavez away after a little back and forth, but where Wallace never really looked like he was in any danger of losing. Wallace has removed the padding off one of the turnbuckles at some point, and just as Pee-wee Germaine spots it and goes to return the padding to its rightful place, Remmy Skye hops over the barricade and jumps up onto the apron.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="4LdC9PO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4LdC9PO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Unfortunately for Skye, Wallace sees him coming, and a forearm that was intended to catch Wallace in the face instead catches Chavez as Wallace reverses the Irish Whip. Chavez goes down and is in prime position for the Game Set and Match from Wallace, whilst Skye is down on the outside and out of Germaine's view.</p><p> </p><p>

Wallace picks up the three count, while Skye dusts himself down, shrugs and heads back up the aisle as though nothing had happened.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Winner: Dave Wallace (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="0w8AblZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/0w8AblZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="M31wwgr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M31wwgr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage we've caught up with Jimmy Marvel and Al Coleman. Marvel is shouting at Coleman that he needs to learn some respect, and how to treat women properly, whilst making it clear that if Coleman wants him to stay out of his business he needs to clean his own act up.</p><p> </p><p>

Coleman's obviously not got anything legitimate to respond with and replies with a right hook to Marvel's jaw, and Marvel goes down. Coleman jumps on his and a full-scale brawl erupts as they go clattering around the backstage area. </p><p> </p><p>

Fortunately it doesn't take too long before a group of backstage staff and road agents arrive to separate them, but Coleman has a large gash over his eye and is dripping blood onto the concrete, whilst Marvel is feeling his jaw carefully. It looks like both are going to need medical attention. <span style="color:#000080;">(D-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="IPxb04q.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IPxb04q.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="vQHAdaq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vQHAdaq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Elsewhere backstage a camera has caught up with Greg Black and Willow.</p><p> </p><p>

“Hi folks,” Willow begins – clearly she's going to do most of the talking here. “As you all know, Greg's won the opportunity to take on Fox Mask for the Coastal Zone Championship at CZCZW Surf Slam next month.</p><p> </p><p>

“Obviously Fox Mask deserves some respect. After all, he's an eight time champion here in Coastal Zone, but we've been thinking and there are points that others have made that ring true to us.”</p><p> </p><p>

They share a glance and Black nods for Willow to continue.</p><p> </p><p>

“Harry Allen commented about the level of competition here in Coastal Zone, and we think he had a good point in one respect – the level of challenge that he faced in TCW, and that Greg faced in SWF is above that here. Not to denigrate the accomplishments of those who have achieved great things here in California, but in our view, Greg is by far the best technical wrestler here, and although that may not be the exciting, aerial work that you all like to see here in Coastal Zone, it makes him the best-rounded wrestler.</p><p> </p><p>

“And that's why we feel it's absolutely right that Greg should be challenging for the title. After all, if you don't get the chance to prove what you can do, then you never get to back up your words.</p><p> </p><p>

“That being said, we wish Fox Mask the best, and may the better man win on the night.” <span style="color:#000080;">(D-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OKvFwS8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OKvFwS8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Super Ninja & Champagne Lover v. Going Coastal (Lance Trueman/Fernandes Franklin)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

No surprise here that Champagne Lover is the star of this match, and that he mixes high-flying, mat work, striking and incredible charisma together to demonstrate that, no matter how cocky it might sound when he calls himself the greatest wrestler in the world, it's performances like this that actually lend some credence to that boast. What's more of a surprise is that Super Ninja is the weak link, and is outperformed by both of Going Coastal. You might expect this from Lance Trueman given his regular exposure to some of the better wrestlers in Coastal Zone, but his tag partner has largely been an afterthought over recent months and for Franklin to have his game up to the same sort of level is fairly remarkable.</p><p> </p><p>

Overall it's a pretty decent match, with the understanding between Trueman and Fernandes growing ever-stronger with each match, their instincts for when they need to tag in and out and when a double team are visibly improving all the time. Ninja spends quite a long time stuck in their corner being worked over in the middle portion of the fight, and it's only after he's managed to break out of that corner and get the hot tag to Lover that it finally looks as though a finish might be coming.</p><p> </p><p>

In the end, it comes a little bit out of the blue. On the apron, Franklin goes for a back elbow as Lover is whipped across the ring, but doesn't realise that Lover has spotted it, and eats a Spear to the midsection that sends him sprawling to the floor. As Trueman comes in to capitalise, he only walks straight into a Lover Stunner, and with no partner to break up the pinfall, there's no rescue as Matthew White completes the count.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Overall Show Grade: C-</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Author's Notes</span></p><p> </p><p>

A mahoossive seven sets of predictions for this show, for which I thank you.</p><p> </p><p>

Perfect scores for debutant jameschaos and for regular BHK1978. Martel123 and WilburTrey both missed out on the main event for scores of 3/4, whilst Theheel and another (I think) debutant Smasher1311 both got that right but picked Idol to beat Spillane, this also scoring 3/4. CobheadJake rounded off the pack in getting 2/4 with both of those picks above going the wrong way for him. Quite a wide ranging set of outcomes given that all seven of you (correctly) picked both Frankie Perez and Dave Wallace to win their respective matches.</p><p> </p><p>

We're slowly picking up popularity, but need to keep delivering C- shows as a bare minimum to maintain that. We briefly slipped down to 17th in the World Rankings (not good when 16th is my owner goal) but it's pretty tight in the mid-Regional rankings and we're back where we need to be now.</p>

Coleman and Marvel have had their differences of late and CZCW Management have decided to get the two men in the ring against one another tonight instead of enduring the repeated interferences in each others matches. We're also hearing that the two will go one-on-one at CZCW Surf Slam on 1st June.</p><p> </p><p> Jonnie Perez and Jackpot Jordan, until very recently the Tag Team Champions, will be facing one another in singles action, apparently at the request of Jake Idol. The American Cobras (non-title) vs. Al Coleman & Waylon Walls

Reasoning: Coleman and Walls aren't a fulltime tag team and I don't think it makes much sense, based off where the company seems to be going.

Jonnie Perez vs. Jackpot Jordan

Reasoning: With interference from Jake Idol to get Rich and Famous back onto the same page and headed towards a program with The American Cobras.

Champagne Lover vs. Fernandes Franklin

Reasoning: This is not where you have Champagne Lover lose, unless Franklin is headed to a program with Fox Mask for the belt.

Fox Mask & Harry Allen vs. Greg Black & Lance Trueman

Reasoning:I think this builds two future contenders for Fox Mask here, with Harry Allen being in perfect position to take the fall.

(The you that I use is the general you, not person specific. I've really been enjoying this Dynasty and finally decided to start participating in the predictions thread!)
